RELIGIOUS psychology , *CONFIRMATORY factor analysis , *RELIGIOUS education , *NUCLEAR families , *CRONBACH'S alpha , *KINSHIP - Abstract
This article presents the findings of the reliability and validity analysis of the "Kinship, Comradeship and Friendship Ties (KFF) Scale". The scale was developed to determine whether a person has social ties and, if so, the strength of these ties through people's perceptions of these ties. It is known that a person's social relationships with his/her close and distant environment, starting with his/her family, interact with his/her psychological state. On the other hand, Islam requires social duties such as maintaining kinship ties, responding to friends' invitations, helping them in times of need, not sulking with them, and getting along well with neighbors as religious duties. It is believed that the ADAB scale will make a valuable contribution to the scale literature by having items that cover the social environment that is likely to affect the person psycho-socially outside the nuclear family. It is foreseen that the scale will be used in sub-fields of Psychology, particularly Social and Clinical Psychology in the social sciences, Sociology and Sociology of Religion and Religious Education, which are religious sciences under the umbrella of theology, as well as The Psychology of Religion, which is also a sub-branch of Psychology. The scale was developed as a result of two consecutive field studies conducted in December 2023. As a result of the statistical analyses performed on the data obtained from the first sample of 632 people over 18 years of age, a scale structure of 30 items and 8 factors was obtained. In the second study carried out on a sample of 341 participants for confirmatory factor analysis, it was found that the scale had good compatibility values (CMIN/DF= 1.923; RMSEA = .053; RMR= .048; CFI= .914; GFI= .92; AGFI= .89; IFI= 92; TLI= .90). In the analysis of the reliability of the scale, the Cronbach's Alpha value was determined as .90. In addition, each of the 8 factors had good or acceptable reliability coefficients. Although each of the sub-dimensions has reliability and validity coefficients that can measure its own subject, it is recommended that the scale be used as a whole in studies. In future studies, the ADADS scale can be safely used in studies to be conducted with samples from all socio-economic segments of the society, from all educational levels, regardless of gender, provided that they are over 18 years of age. EXPLORATORY factor analysis , *FACTOR structure , *MIDDLE school students , *CRONBACH'S alpha , *FACTOR analysis - Abstract
The purpose of this study is to develop a valid and reliable measurement tool to determine the motivation of middle school students towards grammar. The study group consists of a total of 500 7th-grade students, including 264 girls and 236 boys, studying in various middle schools in the city center of Kars. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was initially conducted on the data collected to determine the factorial structure and validity study of the scale. As a result of the factor analysis, it was observed that the scale has a twofactor structure. Therefore, the scale data were limited to two factors and analyzed using the principal components method. The Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) statistic value of the scale was found to be 0.919, and the Bartlett's Test of Sphericity statistic value was χ2=6310.22; df=1081, p=0.000, indicating that it was significant and suitable for factor analysis. Item-total test correlations were calculated as evidence of item validity. It was determined that the item-test correlations ranged from 0.308 to 0.710. The Cronbach's alpha internal consistency coefficient calculated to determine the reliability of the scale was found to be 0.948 for the total scale. The internal consistency coefficient of the high motivation factor of the scale was found to be 0.946, and the internal consistency coefficient of the low motivation factor was found to be 0.874, indicating high internal consistency. In light of these findings, it was concluded that the grammar motivation scale is valid and reliable. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ABSTRACT:The topic of developing measuring instruments by using scientific methods is becoming increasingly important in the field of social science because accurate information can only be obtained by using valid, reliable, and useable measurement and assessment techniques developed by using scientific methods. The way to obtain accurate information in scale development research and field application studies that aim to acquire detailed information using advanced scales is to gather data that is error-free or with a margin of error that has been reduced as much as possible. Scale development is the process of developing items by revealing the thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors that are intended to be measured. Several fundamental stages need to be considered to develop a robust scale, adapt it, and make it work, particularly when the topic is social science. With this important point in mind, this study aims to reveal in detail the stages of developing valid, reliable, and useable measuring instrument. The study will discuss the stages that need to be considered when developing a scale, how sampling and implementation are conducted, and how the validity and reliability process works when developing a scale. It is thought that the study will help increase studies on the development of qualified and unique scales and constitute a competent guide for researchers who are going to make such studies and provide a methodological roadmap by providing information about the stages that need to be considered when developing scale.

ABSTRACT:This study aims to adapt a scale that evaluates the causes of violence in dating relationships with the couple's self-report. In this context, the psychometric properties of the Reasons for Intimate Partner Violence Scale were examined. A total of 289 university students, 157 female and 132 male, with an average age of 22.34 (SD = 1.80) participated in the study. The scale's factor structure was examined by exploratory factor analysis, and the two-factor structure (internalized and externalized reasons) was confirmed by confirmatory factor analysis. Acceptance of Couples Violence Scale was used for criterion-related validity. The scale's Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficients were calculated to determine internal consistency. The results showed that the validity and reliability of the scale were sufficient. However, it was found that men and women show violence for different reasons in the study The relationships between causes of violence, acceptance of violence, and dating violence are also examined. As the rate of reasons for violence shown in close relationships increases, acceptance of violence and exposure to dating violence also increases. Also, it was found that internalized causes of violence, externalized causes of violence, acceptance of violence, and some dating violence sub-dimensions differ by gender. It is thought that the study's results will contribute to understanding the reasons for violence reported by an intimate partner and for valuable areas of intervention aimed at preventing dating violence.

- Abstract
Objective: Binge Eating Disorder (BED) is defined in the DSM-5 as "consuming more food than most people can eat in a given period of time with an accompanying feeling of loss of control". Although BED has only recently been defined as a distinct diagnostic category, studies show that it is the most common eating disorder in adults. Therefore, the measurement tools that can be used in the assessment of BED gain importance at this point. The aim of this study was to determine the psychometric properties of the Binge Eating Scale, which was developed by Gormally et al.(44) and used in the assessment of BED, by adapting it into Turkish. Method: The study was conducted on two separate samples of individuals between the ages of 18-65/68. The second sample was used only for confirmatory factor analysis. The Eating Attitudes Test, Brief Symptom Inventory and Brief Self-Control Scale were used as criterion-related validity criteria. Results: As a result of the exploratory factor analysis, it was seen that the scale had a single-factor structure. This single-factor structure explained 32.69% of the variance. The goodness of fit values obtained from confirmatory factor analysis were also found to be excellent and acceptable (e.g., 2/sd= 2.93). The Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient of the scale was found to be .85, and the Spearman Brown two-half reliability coefficient was found to be .76 (p<.001). Discussion: The results of the statistical analysis show that the Turkish adaptation of the scale is valid and reliable. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

CRONBACH'S alpha , *EXPLORATORY factor analysis , *WORKPLACE incivility , *LIFE satisfaction , *TEST validity - Abstract
The aim of this study is to adapt the workplace cyber incivility scale, which consists of 14 statements and 2 dimensions developed by Lim and Teo (2009), to both today and Turkish, and to study its validity and reliability. In the scale adaptation study, data were obtained from 2 separate samples. The first of these groups consists of academics (n=183), and the second consists of people working in three different sectors (n=202). For the validity of the scale, construct validity, convergent and divergent validities were performed. As a result of the validity analysis, 1 statement from the 14-statement scale was removed from the scale as a result of exploratory factor analysis. For criterion-related validity, the relationship between the total and dimensions of the scale and life satisfaction was examined and all relationships were found to be negative. For reliability analysis, the Cronbach Alpha (CA) coefficient of the first group and the Cronbach Alpha and Combined Reliability (CR) coefficients of the second group were examined. As a result of the reliability analysis of the scale, it was determined that it was a reliable scale in both groups. As a result of the study, it was determined that the cyber incivility scale at work is a scale compatible with the Turkish business world, consisting of 13 items and 2 dimensions. - Abstract
The purpose of this study is to adapt and examine the psychometric properties of Turkish form of Extended Self Scale. The original scale was developed in the contex of "mountain biking". This adaptation study set the contex of extended self as "aoutomobile owning"; in order to lead to other Turkish studies on self and consumption relations that might study extended self with other consumption materials. The study was conducted on 311 automobile owners over 18 years old. Scale was studied in general survey method and translation method used was translationback translation method. The psychometric properties of the scale were examined by internal consistency, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis and item analysis methods with SPSS and AMOS programmes. The exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis determined the scale structure with 3 factors. The model's and CFA's compatibility was examined through index values; and index values of the scale were determined as "acceptable" and "excellent". The Chi- Square per Degrees of Freedom Ratio was found to be 2.758, the Comparative Fit Index (CFI) was 0.93, and the Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA) was 0.075. The reliability of the Extended Self Scale was assessed using the internal consistency coefficient (Cronbach's Alpha) method, and the internal consistency coefficient of the scale was found to be 0.928. As the analysis of the research regarded; on self and consumption based field studies; Extended Self Scale can be defined as a scale which can be used in determining the self extension tendency.

- Abstract
Masculine Gender Role Stress refers to men's stress felt in individual, social, and societal situations where they think they transgress the norms of idealized masculinity. The majority of research conducted to examine men's stress rooted in masculinity norms has been using the 40-item and five-factor Male Gender Role Stress (MGRS) Scale of Eisler and Skidmore (1987). However, there are very few research focusing on the adaptation of MGRS scale in different cultures. Thus, this study aimed to adapt the MGRS scale into Turkish and present its validity and reliability. 395 men participated in this study by convenience sampling method. Participants filled out the MGRS scale together with anxiety, anger, gender attitudes, life satisfaction and psychological well-being scales. After the Exploratory Factor Analysis, the scale showed a 28-item three-factor structure in the Turkish sample: Performance inadequacy, subordination, and confrontation with emotional situations. In addition, Confirmatory Factor Analysis revealed that this threefactor structure fits the data better than the one-factor model. MGRS was positively correlated with anxiety, anger, and gender attitudes, while it was negatively correlated with life satisfaction and well-being. In light of the findings, the MGRS scale can be used as a reliable scale with construct and criterion validity in Türkiye. The results are discussed considering the adverse effects of ECRS on men's individual (physical and mental) and public health. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: The EQ-5D-5L is increasingly used in cardiovascular surgery. However, its psychometric properties have not yet been examined with coronary artery bypass graft patients. The purpose of the study was to assess the psychometric properties of the EQ-5D-5L with coronary artery bypass graft patients and to determine the most suitable index score for the countries with no value set. Material and Method: The EQ-5D-5L was administered to 200 coronary artery bypass graft patients. Intraclass correlation coefficients and test-retest analysis were used to evaluate the reliability of the scale. The test-retest analysis used Gwet's agreement coefficient. Results: The intraclass correlation coefficients indicated that the EQL-VAS and index scores were very reliable. The five dimensions of the EQ-5D-5L had an almost perfect agreement with the test-retest (Gwet's AC: 0.83-0.97, percentage agreement: 89.6-97.6%). Both the United Kingdom and United States index scores had a positive and moderate relationship with the EQL-VAS (p<0.001). Conclusion: The EQ-5D-5L is a reliable and practical instrument in cardiovascular surgery. This study showed that both United Kingdom and United States value sets can be used to calculate the index score of the scale in Türkiye. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Stigmatization leads to severe consequences both individually and socially. This situation can also occur in epidemics and complicate the treatment process. Therefore, the objective evaluation of stigma and the creation of an action plan on this issue are the most basic steps in the fight against the epidemic. This study aimed to develop and study the reliability and validity of a scale that evaluates stigma against individuals who experienced coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19). Methods: A 24-item draft scale was prepared by considering the stigma experienced by individuals who experienced COVID-19 both in their close relations and social environment. The study was conducted on the relatives of patients referred to Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine Hospital's different polyclinics. In addition to the developed COVID-19 Stigma Scale (CSS), the COVID-19 Information Questionnaire (CIQ) was used. Results: The sample of the study consisted of 323 healthy individuals who were 54.5% male, with a mean age of 39.0±13.7 years. In the factor analysis, which included 24 items, five items with a factor load below 0.40 were eliminated. The final version of the scale consisted of three factors, and these factors (rejection, discrimination, and emotional reactions) explained 61% of the total variance. Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the total CSS was calculated as 0.91. A significant negative correlation was found between the CSS total and CIQ total scores (r=-0.301, p<0.001). Conclusion: The CSS is valid and reliable in assessing the stigmatization of individuals in the healthy population toward COVID-19 patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim in this study was to adapt the Parent and Teacher Form of the Social-Emotional Assets and Resiliency Scale for Preschool, developed by Ravitch (2013) to measure the resilience of preschool children, into Turkish and to test its validity and reliability. The validity and reliability of the Social-Emotional Assets and Resiliency Scale for Preschool were tested with 335 children observed by their parents and 276 children observed by their teachers, selected by random sampling from the population. Confirmatory factor analysis was performed with the software package LISREL v. 8.80. The analysis confirmed the three-factor structure of the scale. When the coherence indices of the scale were examined, it was seen that model data coherence was achieved. The internal consistency coefficient for the Self-Regulation/Social Competence subdimension was .86, for the Understanding/Expressing Emotions subdimension was .83, and for the Empathy/Responsibility subdimension was .83. The scale form consisting of three dimensions and 27 items was designed as a four-point Likert type. Based on the analyses performed, the Social-Emotional Assets and Resiliency Scale for Preschool is a valid and reliable measurement tool within the scope of parent and teacher evaluations of 60-to 72-month-old Turkish children with its three-dimensional and 27-item structure. ARTIFICIAL intelligence , *CHATGPT , *ACADEMIC discourse , *LANGUAGE models , *ORIGINALITY - Abstract
"What can I know? How can I know? How can I act?" These questions have been the subject of exploration throughout the history of philosophy. In a process where answers are constantly updated, the current state indicates a shift from inquiries into the truth of knowledge to the commodification of everyday knowledge. Artificial intelligence (AI) language models like ChatGPT (3.5) go beyond being mere companions in ordinary conversations; but in its own word, it is a mechanism with the ability to understand, analyze, and generate language. With the advancement of artificial intelligence, AI-based language models provide benefits in academic writing processes such as speed, data-driven content generation, and error reduction for researchers, writers, and students. However, this progress also brings ethical concerns. In the present era, it is crucial not only to acknowledge the capability of AI to generate articles but also to confront the reality of how to evaluate such articles. The collaboration between artificial intelligence and humans makes it possible to create original and valuable content in the academic world. However, the degree of plagiarism in the proposed idea and the appropriate response to plagiarism are arguable. In this study, we discuss how to evaluate writings produced with the assistance of AI-based language programs, considering the coevolution and interaction of artificial intelligence and academic writing. In the first section, we examined ChatGPT's conceptual analysis and logical inference principles. ChatGPT provides reasonable answers to general topics within certain ethical preconceptions. However, it may not be sufficiently successful in logical reasoning, especially in issues related to logical deduction, leading to logical inconsistencies when faced with repetitive commands. This inconsistency can also permeate its ethical preconception, raising questions about how the existing preconceptions are designed and opening a discussion about the reliability of ChatGPT. In the second section, we asked ChatGPT to write an essay on a comparative topic. It is possible to write an article with the help of ChatGPT without a word limit, using accurate and explanatory command syntax. However, how the originality and plagiarism check of the presented text should be conducted is debatable. As demonstrated in this study, online plagiarism detection services, as of now, cannot provide artificial intelligence support to detect similarities in all languages. Therefore, the similarity ratio of writings with the same content in English and Turkish can be entirely different. Moreover, the extent to which a text written with AI assistance can be considered original is also a subject of debate. ChatGPT, which can be beneficial not only for learners but also for educators and those involved in the scrutiny and publishing process of writings, presents an unavoidable issue in how it should be integrated into academia. Moving forward within the framework of possible answers to this debate, we have reached the following conclusion: While the progress brought by artificial intelligence offers useful opportunities for researchers, if not carefully managed from ethical and reliability perspectives, it can lead to the researcher deviating from their originality. Ultimately, a study produced with the assistance of artificial intelligence should inherently encompass the researcher's originality and ethical concerns. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The topic of developing measuring instruments by using scientific methods is becoming increasingly important in the field of social science because accurate information can only be obtained by using valid, reliable, and useable measurement and assessment techniques developed by using scientific methods. This study aims to adapt a scale that evaluates the causes of violence in dating relationships with the couple's self-report. Acceptance of Couples Violence Scale was used for criterionrelated validity.
