We are in the age of Smart Industry or Industry 4.0. Its application is very important in situations that can be simulated and allow process control in university teaching lab practices. Therefore, this research is focused on the “Temperature simulation and control for lab-scale convection dehydrators” that can be used to dehydrate fruits and vegetables as a practical application. The research was carried out by the Informatics laboratory of the Agroindustrial Engineering professional school of the Universidad Nacional de Moquegua, using National Instruments’ LabView software version 2016 to simulate and control the temperature within a lab-scale convection dehydrator. The programming block diagram was developed along with the front panel of the temperature and control simulation for a lab-scale fruit and vegetable dehydration chamber in which the heat generator could be turned on and off when the temperature was below or above the set point, while keeping the dehydrator in operation. The results expected were successfully achieved for the programming of the dehydration chamber’s temperature simulation and control, as the heat generator operates at the temperature set point by turning the system on and off.

This study develops an optimal two-dimensional (2D) pattern from three-dimensional human scan data by con sidering the cycling posture and dermatome of high school male cyclists. By analyzing the body surface change in the cycling posture and considering the dermatome of the lower limbs, the optimal cutting line setting and the development of cycling tights for individual cyclists were presented to provide data that could be used in the clothing industry. We designed three cycling tights to solve the size unsuitability. 3D design 1 is a non-extension design based on the analysis of the 3D human body scan data, in which parts were connected diagonally from the front of the knee to the back of the knee. 3D design 2 removed both the front and back to reduce air resistance during cycling. 3D design 3 did not have a cutting line on the front panel because of the air resistance during cycling in the front area. We analyzed the garment pres sure for 8 points of lower body and performed a subjective evaluation of the 3D designed tights and the current cycling tights. The 3D design 1 in this study was well received in the omphalion, thigh, and hip area, while 3D design 3 was well received in the omphalion, thigh, hip, and bottom bands. Therefore, the LoNE of 3D design 1 was applied to the front, and the hip cutting line of 3D design 3 was applied to the back.

Extramural education along with certain advantages has some disadvantages, including the lack of the possibility of acquiring experimental work skills. Pharmacy students of correspondence courses should study a number of chemical disciplines, including analytical chemistry. Virtual labs could solve the problem of lack of laboratory training, at least partially. Virtual laboratory works on chemistry, described in the literature, are built on the basis of multimedia technologies (audio, video, animations, presentations and other visual effects). The purpose of this work is the creation of a computer program that would not only visually simulate the process of acid-base titration, but also create a task for a student, i.e. – definition of titrant volume and calculation the concentration of an analyte in a virtual sample. Virtual laboratory work was developed in the LabVIEW12 package (National Instruments, USA). A file of virtual laboratory work along with all educational materials is received via e-mail by all students. When you open the laboratory work file, the front panel of the virtual instrument shows the setup for titration, a series of indicator windows for displaying information, and a virtual monitor screen for displaying the titration curve. Then the program guides the student through the following steps: registration of personal data and definition embodiment, visualization of titration and formation of the titration curve, mapping the first derivative of the titration curve, increasing the scale of the graph and determining the volume of titrant at the equivalence point. After finishing the task, the student makes a print-screen, inserts it into his report with the calculations and sends it to the teacher via e-mail for verification in a timely manner. Thus, the described laboratory work allows the student to observe the formation of the titration curve and its subsequent transformation, as well as to master the processing of titration results. Development of virtual laboratory works similar to other methods for quantitative analysis will form a complete virtual laboratory practice, which can increase the level of training of pharmacy students and eventually move to distance learning.

In order to improve the influence of the unmanned helicopter’s own inherent noise and actual environmental disturbance on the system operation, and considering the limitation of algorithm development in LabVIEW semi-physical simulation platform, a control method of LabVIEW and MATLAB hybrid programming is proposed. The method uses MATLAB to write LQG control algorithm program, calls MATLAB script through MATLAB Script node in LabVIEW, and designs LQG controller to achieve position tracking of unmanned helicopter pitch angle and yaw angle. Using this hybrid programming method, the human-machine interface of the unmanned helicopter system can be built in the front panel of LabVIEW, and the position changes and error magnitude of the pitch and yaw angles can be observed in real time. The experimental results show that the application of LabVIEW and MATLAB hybrid programming to unmanned helicopter system simulation has good experimental analysis effect, and the LQG controller designed by this method can effectively filter the inherent noise and environmental noise of unmanned helicopter system, which improves the stability and robustness of the system.

This paper outlines the implementation of an Internet of Things (IoT) based laboratory system for electronic engineering students. The first stage was the design of a prototype circuit on a Diligent breadboard adapter for NI myRIO. The circuit has a PmodALS ambient light sensor and a PmodTMP3 temperature sensor based on SPI and I2C serial bus connections. The system allows students to access sensor data over the internet and display it on the SystemLink Cloud web application and LabVIEW front panel. Different sensors can be connected on the same Pmod connector making the system flexible to perform various laboratories. The second stage was the establishment of bidirectional communication between LabVIEW software and the SystemLink Cloud platform. SystemLink is a data management system from NI which was used to display LabVIEW data and control remote hardware. Students can acquire hardware and software knowledge as they work through sensor interface protocols, myRIO hardware, LabVIEW and SystemLink cloud.

In recent times, advanced inspection technique like infrared thermography (IRT) has been used widely for fault diagnosis of electrical equipment in non-contact, non-destructive and non-invasive manner. Manual classification of faults from the IRT images requires more time and effort. In this work, an intelligent scheme for predictive fault diagnosis in VRLA battery is presented for scheduling its preventive maintenance. IR images of pristine and aged VRLA battery in uninterrupted power supply application are acquired using IR camera at different discharging cycles. Image processing of IR images is performed for detection of faults. In order to intelligently classify the faults a fuzzy inference system is developed. Proposed scheme for automatic diagnosis and classification of faults in VRLA battery is implemented using LabVIEW 2015 software. The output information defining the condition of VRLA battery is displayed on front panel of LabVIEW and stored in MS Excel file with the time stamp at hard disk of host computer for further reliability analysis. Based on occurrence of major faults in VRLA battery, alert signal is send to intended users at both onsite and remote locations. To facilitate remote condition monitoring of VRLA battery, front panel information is continuously provided to remote user using web publishing tool of LabVIEW. Using proposed technique, the fault diagnosis of lead acid batteries in different battery applications can similarly be performed in non-invasive manner.

Fruits such as guava or grapes need to be stored for long times under refrigerated conditions, in order to prevent decay. Therefore, it is important to count on a refrigerated storage chamber with controlled temperatures, as required by every stored fruit. The temperature in the refrigeration system’s steam-compression evaporator will be limited by the temperature required by the cold storage chamber. The purpose of this research was to develop a program for temperature simulation and control for refrigerated storage chambers for fruit. The programming research was carried out at the Informatics Laboratory of the Agroindustrial Engineering school of the Universidad Nacional de Moquegua, Peru. The temperature simulation and control program for refrigerated storage chambers for fruit was developed with National Instruments’ LabVIEW programming language, 2016 version. The simulation and modeling programming block diagram and front panel were developed for temperature control in such storage chamber, which will allow the evaporator’s operation when the temperature sensor shows temperatures above the set point and deactivation when the temperature is below the set point, in order to keep the temperature required for conservation of the fruits stored.

The efficiency of heat emitters plays an important role in the improvement of building energy performance, especially in the context of system and product comparison. In particular, it can be directly related to thermal comfort via the operative temperature that is effectively sensed by the users. For the first time in the literature, in this paper we develop a combined analytical model for room and radiator that computes directly the heat output required to maintain a specific operative temperature. The total heat balance of the enclosure is used to accurately quantify and compare the heat emission losses of different radiator types via an analytical calculation of the operative temperature. This determines the efficiency of a selection of panel radiators with different surface temperature, radiation fraction and number of panels, which were tested in a chamber conforming to the EN 442-2 standard. Additionally, we assess the related annual energy consumption in different climates by carrying out annual simulations in old (without heat recovery) and new (with heat recovery) building types located in Tallinn, Estonia and Strasbourg, France. In the new building we find a similar performance for all the radiators. In the old building however, one radiator outperforms the other two with up to 1.38% lower annual energy consumption, due to smaller rear losses and higher thermal comfort provided by the larger front panel surface.

The aim of this study was to find the most favourable shape of the front panel perforation shape, which would allow us to obtain the greatest cooling effect and – at the same time – be positively perceived by the people. The capacity of the personalized ventilation (PV) system to affect human thermal sensation, with different shapes of front panel perforation used, was analyzed. Once the pilot study was conducted, it used a rectangular nozzle of front pattern size 320 mm × 125 mm and six different front patterns perforation shapes with round holes were tested. Operational parameters such as: airflow 20 l/s, supply air temperature at 24 °C or ambient temperature at 28 °C were invariable. The experiment consisted of a two-stage analysis of air jets characteristics and of tests in which people participated. Twenty-five male volunteers, at the age of 22–23 were engaged. They their assessed thermal sensation and completed relevant questionnaires. On the basis of the results of the above study, differences in jet characteristics depending on the pattern shapes and their different impact on thermal sensation of the volunteers were demonstrated. The biggest cooling effect was obtained using front panels with small hole size (d = 5 mm). These perforations allowed us to obtain a more even air outflow from the entire panel. This ensured a broader airflow of lower velocity, reaching and affecting a larger area. With holes of larger size (d = 15 mm), air outflow occurred mainly through the central part, which produced narrow jets of higher velocity.

This paper is regarding planning a PC-based observance parking system supported IoT that may be applied at the park-like at the searching advanced and offices. This paper focuses on the event of front panel victimization National Instrument's LABVIEW package and Node MCU, Personal Computer (PC), and NODE MCU. The traditional parking lot system doesn't have a board and it cannot show the vacancy of automobile parking space. The user must gamble to hunt any vacancy and need to watch for the opposite automobile to exit from the automobile parking space. Up to the traditional parking system, it'll create the automobile parking space become well organized and user friendly. This paper can produce an automobile detection system by developing a PC-based front panel of parking lot operation knowledge. The system can convert the output from the sensing element to the programmable language to the computer-based mostly board. The board aims to indicate the standing and automobile parking space vacancy. The NODE MCU is employed to supply interfacing between hardware and package. By victimization Lab, VIEW, and Node MCU, the simulation of the physical system will be developed to watch the quantities to be measured and the standing of the instrumentation within the plant from remote purposes while not accessing the inaccessible areas of the plant. When designing a measuring instrument for electric power grids, it is a common mistake to think that meeting the normal specifications - cost, accuracy, measurement rate, measured parameters, size, weight, and the like - is sufficient. This paper briefly discusses other practical considerations that are often overlooked, but are important for a successful instrument: safety, operating environment, grounding, labelling, front panel design, enclosures, emissions & immunity, fasteners, mechanical shock and vibration, predictable component failures, component suppliers and instrument life cycle, tech support and documentation, and managing expectations.

Many studies have been done using recycled waste materials to minimise environmental problems. It is a great opportunity to explore mechanical recycling and the use of recycled and virgin blend as a material to produce new products with minimum defects. In this study, appropriate processing parameters were considered to mould the front panel housing part using R0% (virgin), R30% (30% virgin: 70% recycled), R40% (40% virgin: 60% recycled) and R50% (50% virgin: 50% recycled) of Polycarbonate (PC). The manufacturing ability and quality during preliminary stage can be predicted through simulation analysis using Autodesk Moldflow Insight 2012 software. The recommended processing parameters and values of warpage in x and y directions can also be obtained using this software. No value of warpage was obtained from simulation studies for x direction on the front panel housing. Therefore, this study only focused on reducing the warpage in the y direction. Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) optimisation methods were used to find the optimal processing parameters. As the results, the optimal ratio of recycled PC material was found to be R30%, followed by R40% and R50% materials using RSM and GA methods as compared to the average value of warpage on the moulded part using R0%. The most influential processing parameter that contributed to warpage defect was packing pressure for all materials used in this study.

International audience; The ability of an electrical cabinet fire to spread to neighbouring cabinets is a major concern for fire safety in nuclear power plants (NPPs). Twelve intermediate-scale fire tests were performed to determine the fire spread conditions from a burning enclosure to an opposite closed-door enclosure, for non-combustible (glazed and metallic) and combustible (made of poly(methyl methacrylate) [PMMA]) doors. The impact on these conditions of the separation distance (SD) between the enclosures, the target type contained in the closed-door enclosure and overhead electric cable trays, were especially investigated. The tests used a device mainly composed of a fire enclosure (FE) and an opposite enclosure (OE). Fire can spread to the OE with a glazed panel when the total transmitted heat flux exceeds that required for spontaneous ignition of the target. Fire can propagate to the OE with a PMMA panel only if its ignition is piloted by the flames from the FE. The tests with a PMMA panel also revealed that the most severe fire was not obtained for the minimum SD. Furthermore, fire can spread for a higher SD when overhead electric cables are used. Finally, the effects of the door type and SD on the transmittance were also addressed.

Distributed Control System (DCS) is dined as a system of controllers connected by a data network which appears like a single system. The functions, the locations, the configuration and the specifications may be different but they all communicate using a single language and hence they are knitted together. DCS is preferred in applications where large number of input output modules are involved in the communication, such as chemical plant or oil refineries. They are multitasking systems able to handle large common databases and allows for various control loops, using graphical representation of function blocks. Monitoring and control of process from a remote station is the need of the hour. DCS is one such provision implemented in most of the process control industries. This proposal is based on controlling the existing process stations in the lab (level and flow process) by using DCS and implementing the concept of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) in the stations. A user-friendly Front Panel is designed through which the process control panel can be monitored and controlled for the respective stations. Functional blocks are used for programming the Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) Controller for the level and flow process.

Being one of the main tools used in agriculture, tractors still cause physical fatigue in users and demand high cognitive processes. The main goal of this project is to detect interaction problems between the user and a chosen tractor cabin with the objective of applying ergonomic adjustments in order to improve the tractor’s usability. As a result of applying ergonomic intervention strategies combined with design methods, a conceptual redesign for the main elements form the interior of a tractor cab: the front panel, the levers dashboard, and the seat was proposed.

Purpose: To investigate whether different forms of nutritional information displayed on a foodstuffss front panel packaging affect perceptions of healthiness and purchase intention in Brazilian retail.Method: An online survey with 399 respondents. Each respondent was shown seven distinct scenarios and two products breakfast cereal and stuffed cookies. Authentic packaging was used, varying only in the presentation form (GDA, Nutrition Claims, Food Group Information System and complete scenario).Originality/Relevance: Affecting studies on consumer food decision-making anchored in nutritional marketing strategies (Colby et al., 2010) in a context where concerns regarding healthy food consumption have grown. Nutritional information on the front panel can improve evaluation of food and beverage nutritional value (Roberto, 2012), enhancing product healthiness.Results: Positively and more consistently adding to the stock of knowledge (complete scenario) regarding perception of the products healthiness, when compared to an incomplete scenario, leading to a greater purchase intention.Theoretical/methodological contributions: Nutritional claims are better evaluated by consumers, corroborating Williams (2005) and Feunekes et al. (2008), while contributing both to labelling and packaging studies and to the understanding of the food consumption decision making.Social/management contributions: The study ratifies nutritional labelling practices that not only attract consumer attention, but also increase healthiness perceptions and purchase intentions, contributing to the promotion of a healthy product image and increased sales, affecting product and brand management as well as social policies for food consumption. Objetivo: Investigar se diferentes formas de apresentação da informação nutricional no painel frontal das embalagens de alimentos interferem na percepção de saudabilidade e na intenção de compra no varejo brasileiro.Método: Survey online com 399 respondentes. Cada um analisou sete embalagens distintas e dois produtos – cereal matinal e biscoito recheado. Utilizaram-se embalagens reais com a aplicação de diferentes formas de apresentação da informação nutricional (GDA, nutrition claims, sistema de informação por grupo de alimento e cenário completo, incluindo todas as formas em conjunto).Originalidade/Relevância: Impacta os estudos sobre tomada de decisão do consumidor de alimentos ancorados em estratégias de “marketing nutricional” (Colby et al., 2010), em um contexto com preocupação crescente com o consumo de alimentos mais saudáveis. Informações nutricionais no painel frontal podem melhorar a precisão de julgamentos sobre a qualidade nutricional dos alimentos e bebidas (Roberto, 2012), reforçando a saudabilidade dos produtos.Resultados: A presença de uma combinação de diferentes formas de apresentação (cenário completo) impactou positivamente e de forma mais consistente a percepção de saudabilidade do produto, quando comparada com o uso de uma única forma de apresentação, considerando-se o produto mais saudável e igualmente levando a uma maior probabilidade de compra.Contribuições teóricas/metodológicas: É indicado utilizar os nutrition claims, melhor avaliado pelos consumidores, corroborando Williams (2005) e Feunekes, Gortemaker, Willems, Lion e Kommer (2008). Contribui-se, assim, tanto para estudos sobre rotulagem e embalagens como na compreensão do processo de decisão de compra sobre alimentos.Contribuições sociais/para a gestão: O estudo ratifica práticas de rotulagem nutricional que atraem a atenção do consumidor e aumentam a percepção de saudabilidade e a intenção de compra, contribuindo para a promoção de uma imagem de produto saudável e o aumento das vendas, com impactos para a gestão de produtos e marcas e políticas sociais sobre alimentação.

The paper presents the virtual tool made in the Labview graphical programming environment, for the analysis of some elementary signals. Starting from the theoretical study, we arrive at the presentation of the results obtained, on the front panel, for four types of elementary signals. The paper comes in support of those who want to create a virtual tool to quickly and accurately analyze, in time and frequency, some proposed signals.

Purpose We investigated the feasibility of a novel positron emission tomography (PET) system that provides near real-time feedback to an operator who can interactively scan a patient to optimize image quality. The system should be compact and mobile to support point-of-care (POC) molecular imaging applications. In this study, we present the key technologies required and discuss the potential benefits of such new capability. Methods The core of this novel PET technology includes trackable PET detectors and a fully three-dimensional, fast image reconstruction engine implemented on multiple graphics processing units (GPUs) to support dynamically changing geometry by calculating the system matrix on-the-fly using a tube-of-response approach. With near real-time image reconstruction capability, a POC-PET system may comprise a maneuverable front PET detector and a second detector panel which can be stationary or moved synchronously with the front detector such that both panels face the region-of-interest (ROI) with the detector trajectory contoured around a patient's body. We built a proof-of-concept prototype using two planar detectors each consisting of a photomultiplier tube (PMT) optically coupled to an array of 48 × 48 lutetium-yttrium oxyorthosilicate (LYSO) crystals (1.0 × 1.0 × 10.0 mm3 each). Only 38 × 38 crystals in each arrays can be clearly re-solved and used for coincidence detection. One detector was mounted to a robotic arm which can position it at arbitrary locations, and the other detector was mounted on a rotational stage. A cylindrical phantom (102 mm in diameter, 150 mm long) with nine spherical lesions (8:1 tumor-to-background activity concentration ratio) was imaged from 27 sampling angles. List-mode events were reconstructed to form images without or with time-of-flight (TOF) information. We conducted two Monte Carlo simulations using two POC-PET systems. The first one uses the same phantom and detector setup as our experiment, with the detector coincidence re-solving time (CRT) ranging from 100 to 700 ps full-width-at-half-maximum (FWHM). The second study simulates a body-size phantom (316 × 228 × 160 mm3 ) imaged by a larger POC-PET system that has 4 × 6 modules (32 × 32 LYSO crystals/module, four in axial and six in transaxial directions) in the front panel and 3 × 8 modules (16 × 16 LYSO crystals/module, three in axial and eight in transaxial directions) in the back panel. We also evaluated an interactive scanning strategy by progressively increasing the number of data sets used for image reconstruction. The updated images were analyzed based on the number of data sets and the detector CRT. Results The proof-of-concept prototype re-solves most of the spherical lesions despite a limited number of coincidence events and incomplete sampling. TOF information reduces artifacts in the reconstructed images. Systems with better timing resolution exhibit improved image quality and reduced artifacts. We observed a reconstruction speed of 0.96 × 106 events/s/iteration for 600 × 600 × 224 voxel rectilinear space using four GPUs. A POC-PET system with significantly higher sensitivity can interactively image a body-size object from four angles in less than 7 min. Conclusions We have developed GPU-based fast image reconstruction capability to support a PET system with arbitrary and dynamically changing geometry. Using TOF PET detectors, we demonstrated the feasibility of a PET system that can provide timely visual feedback to an operator who can scan a patient interactively to support POC imaging applications.
