Reflecting on practice is valuable for river scientists, but rarely part of their expected skillset or practice. This paper demonstrates how considering metaphors in written, verbal and visual discourse can help rivers scientists reflect on their practice. Understanding the language they use is important for river scientists and their communities, as frames influence how issues are defined and addressed. Here, I explore the frames used by a selection of river scientists and managers. I examined the abstracts of all papers published in the journal River Research and Applications in 2002 (n = 43) and 2021 (n = 75), using an inductive metaphor analysis. The rivers in the abstracts appear to be framed in 15 ways. The River as Damaged frame provided justification for action, often by scientists as indicated by the River as Laboratory frame, but also by other experts as suggested by framing the River as a Machine, Ledger and Battlefield, with underlying elements of control through tasks based on expert knowledge. A few abstracts used other frames such as River as Art, River as Spirit or River as Market, and these were the only frames that did not occur in both sets of abstracts. I demonstrate how frames such as these can be used as a starting point for reflecting on practice. Recognizing frames in use can be a pathway for river scientists and their communities to reflect on their relationships with rivers, and the implications of those relationships. Mozambique has the sixth highest prevalence of HIV in the world and ranks fourth in new infections. The government-owned print press
Notícias has played an important role in the social construction of HIV and AIDS in the country as it was entrusted with the role of disseminating HIV and AIDS information to the public since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country in 1986. UsingNotícias ’ articles and frame analysis perspective, the article analyses the wayNotícias has framed HIV and AIDS in the country since the late 1980s. The choice of media results from the fact that the way a phenomenon is constructed influences the way it is understood, as well as the way people may behave before it. The study found thatNotícias’ frames on HIV and AIDS have suffered from a threefold tension: the need to maintain the Frelimo government’s former centralised and grassroots-orientated socialist ideology of health services in the context of the liberal market; the need to balance the influence of the global multilateral and bilateral actors and the Frelimo government’s political interest of translating HIV and AIDS response to the Mozambican context; and the need to portray a nationalist and positive image of the government’s performance in HIV and AIDS response before Mozambique’s non-fully plausible societal practices for an effective HIV and AIDS response. In a top-down approach,Notícias ’ frames reflect not only the African post-independence ancillary and nationalist role of government-owned print press but also the power of global actors. Less is done from the societal bottom-up perspective. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

Recently, lots of studies demonstrated that the signals are not only sparse in some system (e.g. shearlets) but also reveal a certain structure such as sparsity in levels. Therefore, sampling strategy is designed as a variable subsampling strategy in order to use this extra structure, for example magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and etc. In this paper, we investigate the uniform recovery guarantees on the signals which possess sparsity in levels with respect to a general dual frame. First, we prove that the stable and robust recovery is possible when the weighted l 2 -robust null space property in levels is satisfied. Second, we establish sufficient conditions under which subsampled isometry satisfies the weighted l 2 -robust null space property in levels. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study evaluates the impact of news factors in press releases sent from scientific organizations on the representation of ocean plastic research in newspapers. We tracked 84 press releases discussing peer-reviewed ocean plastic studies, published between 2017 and 2021 on EurekAlert! and identified their presence in 495 English-language newspapers worldwide. Text comparison showed that press releases contribute highly to the construction of newspaper articles, with copied text segments in over half of the articles. News factors highlighting the prestige of the scientific study, like research published in high-impact journals or conducted by elite researchers were indicators of high newspaper coverage, as were the news factors bad news, magnitude, and social/economic relevance. Scientific press releases usually provide essential details about research, such as sample characteristics, research sites, and methods. However, funding information and research limitations were only marginally present. This study showed that providing research details does not reduce newsworthiness, instead sometimes even increasing it. Providing research details in press releases can influence journalists’ understanding and evaluation of the scientific study and thereby their decision to report. Hence, to assess the newsworthiness of scientific research, we propose that news factor analysis should include research details. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Context: The European Union (EU) governs global health through its constituent laws, institutions, actors, and policies. However, it is unclear whether or how these political factors interact to position the EU as a political determinant of global health. Methods: The authors conduct a case study of the political factors influencing the adoption of the EU's Biotechnology Directive 98/44/EC and Orphan Medicines Regulation 141/2000. Findings: The European Commission (EC) generally framed both of its proposals around economical and biomedical paradigms aligned with the needs of the EU's industry and patients, whereas the European Parliament (EP) contested some of these frames and proposed amendments supporting global access to medical products. The political factors influencing the adoption (in the Biotechnology Directive) or rejection (in the Orphan Regulation) of the EP's amendments include the complementarity between the EP and EC proposals, the EP's power in the intra- and interinstitutional negotiating process, the existence and support of civil society, and the alignment with member state priorities in the Council. Conclusions: In the late 1990s, the EU was an internally fragmented and politicized player concerning global health matters. These political factors should be considered for a coherent post-2022 EU strategy on global health. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

7. Vibrations in Systems Possessing Geometric Symmetry: Effect of Asymmetry.

- Abstract
Vibrations in mechanical systems with geometric symmetry have been studied. It has been shown that, in systems with a low level of asymmetry, stratification of multiple natural frequencies occurs, which leads to instability of forced vibrations in this frequency range, as well as to beats occurring in the course of natural vibrations. In the case of mechanical systems, symmetrically arranged structural elements usually have several degrees of freedom or represent separate subsystems. Therefore, block symmetry operators and basis vectors that characterize the interactions between these structural elements determined by the symmetry conditions have been introduced. It has been shown that, for systems with a symmetry hierarchy, the resulting symmetry operator represents the product of the operators corresponding to each symmetry group. It has been found that the basis vectors for a given type of symmetry remain the same for nonlinear systems with the same type of symmetry. Their use makes it possible to divide the initial equations with an odd nonlinearity function into independent nonlinear equations, each of which describes its own coordinate. The mathematical apparatus of the theory of group representation is used. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A Riesz basis for a separable Hilbert space H is the image of an orthonormal basis under a bounded, linear and bijective operator acting on H. Equivalently, it is an exact frame that shares the properties of a basis for H. Let G be a σ -compact and metrizable locally compact abelian group, and s and r be positive integers. It is illustrated that the image of a matrix-valued orthonormal basis under a bijective, bounded and linear operator acting on the matrix-valued signal space L 2 (G , ℂ s × r) may not be a frame, hence not a basis of the space L 2 (G , ℂ s × r). We introduce a notion of matrix-valued Riesz basis in the space L 2 (G , ℂ s × r) , where the adjointability of a bounded linear operator in the definition of Riesz basis with respect to the matrix-valued inner product plays a crucial role. We establish the existence of matrix-valued Riesz bases of the space L 2 (G , ℂ s × r). Extending results for standard Riesz bases of separable Hilbert spaces, we give necessary and sufficient conditions, and a characterization of matrix-valued Riesz bases of the space L 2 (G , ℂ s × r). This paper examines the stability of the à trous algorithm under arbitrary iteration in the context of a more general study of shift-invariant filter banks. The main results describe sufficient conditions on the associated filters under which an infinitely iterated shift-invariant filter bank is stable. Moreover, it is shown that the stability of an infinitely iterated shift-invariant filter bank guarantees that of any associated finitely iterated shift-invariant filter bank, with uniform bounds. The reverse implication is shown to hold under an additional assumption on the low-pass filter. Finally, it is also shown that the separable product of stable one-dimensional shift-invariant filter banks produces a stable two-dimensional shift-invariant filter bank. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective. Trusses and frames are widely used in the design and construction of buildings and structures, since they have high load-bearing capacity and rigidity. At the same time, they have a significant mass. In order to reduce the mass and cost of rafter and frame structures, this article develops optimal design and calculation schemes using steels of different strengths. Method. The study is based on the theory and methods of design optimization. By studying the features of the frame and truss operation, the most loaded elements of the structures are determined. In accordance with this, steels of different strengths are selected, which ensures a decrease in the mass of the structure and its cost. Comparing various design and calculation schemes, the optimal distribution of steels of different strengths along the span of the structures is proposed. Result. The developed design and calculation schemes make it possible to reduce the mass and cost of frames and trusses by optimally distributing steels of different grades. Conclusion. The proposed solutions can find application in the practice of designing and constructing metal structures. Structural schemes of trusses and frames have been developed, where steels of different strengths are used, which in terms of weight and cost compare favorably with corresponding structures made of steels of the same strength (one grade).

With the emergence of Fridays for Future and Extinction Rebellion, youth climate activism has attracted increasing attention. Climate strikes are part of a long trajectory of mobilizations for climate justice, rooted in global justice and environmental struggles. Although research on social movements has analyzed differences and continuities within these, there have been few systematic comparisons between youth climate strikes and 'traditional' climate justice marches. Our paper contributes to fill this gap. We focus on the framing of climate change in two different protest actions that took place in Milan, Italy, during the Pre-COP26 of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2021: a climate strike by Fridays for Future, and a 'traditional' climate justice march by a wide coalition of actors. Relying on protest surveys and qualitative interviews, we discuss differences, similarities, and spaces for convergence among activists in these different fora, focusing on the framing of climate change, and on the meanings attached to 'system change'. This article explores the relationship between sector-level conflict and local-level cooperation. Drawing on longitudinal data on working time cooperation in the school sector collected before and after a sector-level lockout of teachers in 2013, the article argues that management and labour at the local level enter a process of cultural script adaptation when faced with radical change. The cultural script is rooted in the ritualized enactment of the collective bargaining model in Denmark. Findings also show that multiple cognitive frames coexist during change, but it is the rigidity of the ritualized interaction – that is, the script – which explains why conflict at the central sector level does not easily spread. The article also finds that the cultural script underpins and enables trust production and cooperation, while the script can adapt even during low trust. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The wave packet systems are generated by the combined action of translation, dilation and modulation on a single function while frames are basis-like systems that span a vector space with linearly dependency. The main goal of the study is to intervene the advantages of both the frames and wave packets in the linear canonical domains. Besides, the construction of linear canonical wave packet system we present a necessary and sufficient condition for the linear canonical wave packet system to be a frame in the Hilbert space. Moreover, we study perturbation analysis of these canonical wave packet frame inequalities when the dilation and translation parameters are perturbed. The introduced frame inequalities are in terms of the linear canonical transform of the wave packet system’s, inheriting all the classical frame inequalities such as Gabor, wavelet, wave packet, and fractional wave packet inequalities. As explored in relevant literature, both ecolinguistics and cognitive linguistics emphasize metaphors as conceptual devices to frame the reality around us. Animal metaphor forms an interesting domain to comprehend human-animal relationship at the interface of ecolinguistics and cognitive linguistics. Deriving from this, the research questions the suitability of the animalized language through Conceptual Metaphor Theory (CMT) and Conceptual Blending Theory (CBT). Data from Twitter has been analyzed to understand how the animals on social media impacts the human mind in establishing speciesism among Bengali speakers. Hence, to supplement the research with an ecological perspective, a mixed-method approach has been employed using three studies: (1) to understand the general public opinion on using animal metaphor; (2) to present the cognitive operations of the imaginative mind in using animal metaphor; and (3) to check the reflection of human attitude in real-time practices. The research findings highlight the harmful frames that social media can trigger in the mental spaces of the users – excluding animals qua animals. Additionally, the research also empirically verifies that animalized language use is one of the significant factors behind the speciesist attitudes among Bengali speakers. The research also seeks to sensitize humans towards the hateful nature of the animalized tweets.

- Abstract
Let H be a separable Hilbert space and let { x n } be a sequence in H that does not contain any zero elements. We say that { x n } is a Bessel-normalizable or frame-normalizable sequence if the normalized sequence { x n ‖ x n ‖ } is a Bessel sequence or a frame for H, respectively. In this paper, several necessary and sufficient conditions for sequences to be frame-normalizable and not frame-normalizable are proved. Perturbation theorems for frame-normalizable sequences are also proved. As applications, we show that the Balazs–Stoeva conjecture holds for Bessel-normalizable sequences. Finally, we apply our results to partially answer the open question raised by Aldroubi et al. as to whether the iterative system { A n x ‖ A n x ‖ } n ≥ 0 , x ∈ S associated with a normal operator A : H → H and a countable subset S of H, is a frame for H. In particular, if S is finite, then we are able to show that { A n x ‖ A n x ‖ } n ≥ 0 , x ∈ S is not a frame for H whenever { A n x } n ≥ 0 , x ∈ S is a frame for H. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

While artificial intelligence technologies are increasingly studied as drivers of "digital authoritarianism," resistance to this process has remained underexplored. Our paper addresses this gap by asking why and how citizens resist AI-powered autocratization in consolidated democracies. We first conceptualize this resistance as distinct from other forms of anti-autocratic resistance in that it is anticipatory rather than reactive, and directed at existing authorities rather than new democratic challengers. We then introduce techno-authoritarian imaginaries as a novel concept to understand the drivers and shapes of this resistance. First, we argue that activists from civil society draw on these broader, pre-existing imaginaries of authoritarian futures to make sense of new technologies and articulate technology-specific problem frames. Second, we propose that imaginaries are contingent on historical and political experiences and therefore differ between contexts. Such differences, in turn, shape how the respective targets respond to resistance. We illustrate our argument by case studies of campaigns against facial recognition technology in the U.S. and the European Union. Our paper enriches existing debates on resistance to autocratization and advocates or a more pronounced engagement with practices of future-making, as constructions of societal futures—both desirable and undesirable—are becoming an increasingly important source for democratic mobilization. The goal of the paper is to establish quadrature formulas on combinatorial graphs. Three types of quadrature formulas are developed. Quadrature formulas of the first type are obtained through interpolation by variational splines. This set of formulas is exact on spaces of variational splines on graphs. Since bandlimited functions can be obtained as limits of variational splines we obtain quadrature formulas which are approximately exact on spaces of bandlimited functions. Accuracy of this type of quadrature formulas is given in terms of geometry of the set of nodes of splines and in terms of smoothness of functions which is measured by means of the combinatorial Laplace operator. Quadrature formulas of the second type are obtained through point-wise sampling for bandlimited functions and based on existence of certain frames in appropriate subspaces of bandlimited functions. The third type quadrature formulas are based on the average sampling over subgraphs. Our quadrature formulas which are based on sampling are exact on a relevant subspaces of bandlimited functions. The results of the paper have potential applications to problems that arise in data mining. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In particular, we obtain the symbol properties of the bounded invertible weighted composition operators. Moreover, we establish the equivalence between bounded invertible operators and frame-preserving operators. Furthermore, we show that weighted composition operator preserves frames if and only if it preserves the Riesz bases property. In this paper, we study compressed data separation (CDS) problem, i.e., sparse data separation from a few linear random measurements. We propose the nonconvex ℓq-split analysis with ℓ∞-constraint and 0 < q ≤ 1. We call the algorithm ℓq-split-analysis Dantzig selector (ℓq-split-analysis DS). We show that the two distinct subcomponents that are approximately sparse in terms of two different dictionaries could be stably approximated via the ℓq-split-analysis DS, provided that the measurement matrix satisfies either a classical D-RIP (Restricted Isometry Property with respect to Dictionaries and ℓ2 norm) or a relatively new (D, q)-RIP (RIP with respect to Dictionaries and ℓq-quasi norm) condition and the two different dictionaries satisfy a mutual coherence condition between them. For the Gaussian random measurements, the measurement number needed for the (D, q)-RIP condition is far less than those needed for the D-RIP condition and the (D, 1)-RIP condition when q is small enough. In this study, a novel hybrid deep clustering approach is proposed for the effective moving object segmentation. Initially, the data is collected, and the keyframe selection is performed using the threshold-based Kennard–Stone method. Then, the preprocessing step involves noise filtering using bilateral wavelet thresholding and binary color conversion. The blob detection is performed using normalized Laplacian of Gaussian. Finally, the segmentation of moving objects is performed using a hybrid clustering approach called improved fuzzy C-mean (IFCM) clustering with chaotic salp swarm (CSS) optimization algorithm (Hybrid IFCM-CSS). The overall evaluation is done in MATLAB. The performance of the hybrid IFCM-CSS is compared to other approaches based on some measures. The proposed Hybrid IFCM-CSS achieves the highest precision of 0.971, using the SBM-RGBD dataset. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Instagram and its famous personae are nowadays an important news source for many users, which may stem from celebrities' and social media influencers' (SMIs) repeated engagement with political topics on their otherwise entertainment- or lifestyle-oriented accounts. Yet, to date, no study has systematically investigated the type and framing of this political content. This content analysis examined 1,256 Instagram posts and 2,936 stories of the 59 most popular opinion leaders (19 athletes, 20 celebrities and 20 SMIs) in Western countries, and documented, for the first time, the prevalence of types of political topics and their framing. Results from multilevel analyses suggest that SMIs and athletes are more likely to post lifestyle-oriented political topics, while celebrities engage more with conventional topics. Moreover, political topics appear more often in ephemeral than permanent content. Generic frames were overall rare, but the most dominant frame of political content was the human impact frame. - Abstract
It is well known that orthonormal bases for a separable Hilbert space H are precisely collections of the form {Θek}k∈핀, where Θ is a linear unitary operator acting on H and {ek}k∈핀 is a given orthonormal basis for H. We show that this is not true for the matrix-valued signal space L2(G, ℂs×r), G is a locally compact abelian group which is σ-compact and metrizable, and s and r are positive integers. This problem is related to the adjointability of bounded linear operators on L2(G, ℂs×r). We show that any orthonormal basis of the space L2(G, ℂs×r) is precisely of the form {풰Ek}k∈핀, where 풰 is a linear unitary operator acting on L2(G, ℂs×r) which is adjointable with respect to the matrix-valued inner product and {Ek}k∈핀 is a matrix-valued orthonormal basis for L2(G, ℂs×r). ALGORITHMS - Abstract
In this paper, we introduce a new approach based on the excess components of a frame for recognizing norm retrieval frames (NRFs) in finite‐dimensional Hilbert spaces. This method leads to a complete characterization of NRFs in ℝ2$$ {\mathrm{\mathbb{R}}}^2 $$ and ℝ3$$ {\mathrm{\mathbb{R}}}^3 $$ and then to 1‐excess NRFs in ℝn$$ {\mathrm{\mathbb{R}}}^n $$. This approach is not only more effective in higher dimensions for detecting NRF than the previous approaches but is also applicable to constructing NRF from a given Riesz basis. In addition, we establish a relationship between the norm retrievability of a frame and its duals. We also show that, unlike the phase retrieval property, the set of all norm retrievable dual frames is generally not dense in the set of all dual frames. Then, we present numerical results to illustrate the potentiality of the NRF approach in signal recovery with respect to the classical framework in frame theory, and finally, we raise some perspectives and problems concerning NRF. Research on Euroscepticism tends to portray parties opposing European integration or criticising the European Union (EU) as a family of Eurosceptic parties (either hard or soft). Recent literature, however, offers empirical evidence on the ambivalence and diversity of the EU critique. What is still unclear are the reasons behind the chameleonic nature of Euroscepticism and the implications that this may have for the EU critique and the changes proposed about EU policy or institutions. The present article addresses this question exploring the role of EU crises to capture the changing nature of Euroscepticism and suggests that it is related to contextual pressures on the political debate around the EU. The paper develops this argument and illustrates it through the analysis of the Alternative für Deutschland in Germany, covering the EU crises of the last decade, including the recent period of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Ukraine invasion. Drawing on a corpus of party manifestos and speeches between 2013 and 2022, this study shows that there are three main frames used by the party to criticise the EU. It also concludes that these frames involve distinct political implications for the EU critique and the alternative proposals presented by the party. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Permanent hostilities and rising media outlets in the region between India and Pakistan increased the importance of media to cool down hostilities. This study attempts to explore the role of political cartoons in escalated tensions between India and Pakistan, due to the Uri base and Pathankot terrorist attacks in 2016. Therefore, two daily newspapers – DAWN from Pakistan and Times of India from India – published from 1 July 2016 to 31 December 2016 were selected for frame analysis. Findings revealed that both newspapers published 82 cartoons relevant to the study, 29 in DAWN and 53 in Times of India. Analysis of the data reveals that five themes are present in the cartoon content: blame game, Kashmir conflict, role of international actors, peace efforts and dialogue, and water dispute. Blaming the other is dominant in the Times of India and peace efforts and dialogue in DAWN. The Times of India mostly supported Indian government and DAWN rejected the Pakistani stance in cartoon coverage regarding Pak–India relations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

QUATERNIONS ,QUATERNION functions - Abstract
In this note, we explore the theory of continuous frame perturbations in the quaternion settings by inspiration of the well-developed theory of perturbing discrete frames in complex Hilbert spaces. We examine the perturbation of continuous frames of rank n, including Bessel and Riesz families, within right quaternionic Hilbert spaces. We also investigate some results on the bounds of perturbing continuous frames under some conditions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Antibiotic resistance (AR) is a growing health crisis that has remained underrepresented in coverage across major news publications in the U.S. despite increasing rates of related disease outbreaks and mortality worldwide. This study used content analysis to examine the coverage of AR in two major U.S. news publications before the COVID-19 pandemic (2018-2019) and during it (2020-2021). Coverage of AR in The New York Times (NYT) and The Washington Post (WP) was analyzed according to the use of frames, the quantity of articles published, and a number of other variables including stakeholders, diseases, and terms referring to AR. These factors were used to assess how coverage of AR differed before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, and how it differed between the two newspapers. Pre-COVID-19 coverage focused on AR as an isolated pandemic, while coverage during the early years of the COVID-19 pandemic often used AR as a supplementary component of the coverage to the main topic of COVID-19. This study found that both before and during the outbreak of COVID-19, the majority of the observed articles did not fully explain the scope, severity, or solution for the AR crisis. Instead, they provided readers with baseline information, framing AR as a contemporary issue and generally encouraging action but included very few tangible suggestions for every day, individual action for readers. VIDEO processing ,SOFT computing ,MACHINE translating ,GESTURE ,CAMCORDERS ,FEATURE extraction ,VIDEO coding - Abstract
An essential component of building an automated hand gesture detection system is the ability to extract hand movements using a single video camera. Results for hand extraction using color cues have been encouraging utilizing local spatiotemporal approaches. When the video is recorded in real life, the color intensities are not clear. The research of hand gesture machine translation for real-world video processing has halted. Video frames make it hard to recognize the hand and extract the required information for accurate identification. A new framework for real-time hand gesture detection from films is proposed using optimum video and soft computing algorithms. In the proposed system, real-time video is captured for human Hand Gesture Recognition (HGR). The framework consists of real-time video acquisition, video normalization, Hand Frames Feature Extraction (HFFE), and classification. In the video normalization phase, we first discard the redundant frames to reduce the time and space complexity using dynamic thresholding. The remaining video frames are normalized by applying the image pre-processing operations to enhance the frame's quality. The HFEF is the vital and novel phase of the proposed model as it consists of enhanced spatiotemporal-based feature extraction where we have designed a cuboid-based detector and Speeded-Up Robust Features (SURF). The HFEF phase extracts the robust hand features from the sequence of pre-processed video frames for efficient classification. Finally, the recognition of hand gestures is performed by applying different soft computing algorithms. The simulation results using the real-time research datasets prove the improvement using the proposed model over the existing solutions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research proposes to include different percentages of recycled polypropylene (PP) fibers and polystyrene (PS) granules in the manufacture of concrete blocks. They are thermoplastic materials widely used in industry and are characterized by their lightness, their low thermal and electrical conductivity, and their low humidity absorption coefficient, factors that improve the efficiency of constructions. The results of this study show improvements in the mechanical behavior of the blocks with these plastic additives compared to the traditional ones, along with improvements in the structural behavior of the low (2-story) and medium-height (8-story) frames. NEW right (Politics) , *SOCIAL movements - Abstract
The political landscape of the radical right has long been a major discussion point in the political and social sciences. By considering the variety of radical right organizations (movement parties and non-parliamentary organizations) and the particular national and transnational political and discursive opportunity structures, the paper aims at a comparative analysis of the main discursive frames present in political programs and manifestoes of radical right social movement organizations and movement parties in Poland (Konfederacja Wolność i Niepodległość and Obóz Narodowo-Radykalny) and Germany (Alternative für Deutschland and Identitäre Bewegung Deutschland). Moreover, based on approaches developed by Cas Mudde and Jens Rydgren, this article analyses how the features presumed essential to the radical right (nativism, authoritarianism and populism) are reflected and interconnected in the official discourses of the selected radical right organizations. FEMINISM ,INTERSECTIONALITY ,BLACK feminism ,DEVELOPING countries ,ACADEMIC debating ,COLLECTIVE action ,BLACK women - Abstract
The review article explores the concept of intersectionality within feminist movements from a global perspective. First, it reconstructs the origins of the concept. Second, it summarizes the main critical debates. Third, it gives an overview on the new wave of feminist movements, by exploring the way several movements from the North to the Global South have actively engaged with the concept of intersectionality into action. Finally, the article discusses opportunity and threats in the diffusion of the concept, both in the academic debate and in the field of collective action. The main takeaways of the article are: the emergence of the concept of intersectionality within the activism of women of color and Black feminism; the role of intersectionality as a critical analysis of power structures; the intersectional character of the new wave of feminist movements; the risks associated with the diffusion of the concept of intersectionality; the bleaching of intersectionality; and the co‐opting and depowering of the concept in an increasingly aggressive neo‐liberal order. - Abstract
Although there have been numerous advances in combatting gender-based violence against women, the phenomenon continues to grow at an alarming rate. Aiming to contribute to its understanding, this article investigates the conceptualization of violence by a group of Brazilian women who narrate on Facebook episodes of violence they have experienced. By means of AntConc, it selects posts in which violence and punishment cooccur and analyzes six of them qualitatively, based on the theoretical models of Cognitive Linguistics, in particular, the Conceptual Metaphor Theory (Lakoff; Johnson, 1980) and the Multilevel and Contextualized view of Metaphor (Kövecses, 2020). Surprisingly, the narrators justify these events with their own behavior, in a process of self-blaming, anchored in the metaphor VIOLENCE IS PUNISHMENT, in which PUNISHMENT IS A CONSEQUENCE. How to explain this phenomenon? Based on the analysis, this conceptualization emerges form the social FORCES that manipulate women whenever there is transgression of the established symbolic order (Bourdieu, 2012). During public health crises, newspapers play the significant role of disseminating health information, shaping the public response to public health messaging, and encouraging efficacious risk-reducing behaviors. In conducting this study which explored early news media coverage of the COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) pandemic, we analyzed the content of articles from 14 major U.S. newspapers published from January 21, 2020 to September 22, 2020. In addition to identifying the news frames employed by newspapers, including health risks, prevention/education, political/legal issues, economic consequences, societal problems, and medical-scientific issues, we also found alarmist and fear-mongering newspaper coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, the impacts of COVID-19 on African American/Black populations and Hispanic/Latino populations in the reviewed articles were mostly framed from the economic loss and societal problem perspectives. Another common observation was the newspaper coverage's frequent focus on individualist explanations (e.g., health behaviors, lifestyles) for racial differences in COVID-19-related outcomes rather than systematic inequalities. Information concerning solutions to the disparities resulting from the pandemic was also limited. Essentially, our research results highlight how, during times of crisis, it is crucial for news media to convey accurate information to limit, mitigate, and reduce public harm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

DATA recovery , *SIGNAL reconstruction , *PROBLEM solving - Abstract
When studying signal reconstruction, the frames are often selected in advance as encoding tools. However, in practical applications, this encoding frame may be subject to attacks by intermediaries and generate errors. To solve this problem, in this paper, the erasure recovery matrices for data erasures and rearrangements are analyzed. Unlike the previous research, first of all, we introduce a kind of frame and its erasure recovery matrix M so that M I , Λ = I m × m , where I m × m is a unit matrix. In this case, we do not need to invert the matrix of the frame operator and the erasure recovery matrix, and this greatly simplifies reconstruction problems and calculations. Then three different construction algorithms of the above erasure recovery matrix M and the frame are proposed, and each of them has advantages. Furthermore, some restrictions on M so that the constructed frame and erasure recovery matrix M can recover coefficients from rearrangements are imposed. We prove that in some cases, the above M and frame can recover coefficients stably from m rearrangements. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Responding to climate change requires us to reimagine not only our future on a planet that is rapidly changing, but also how we organize to create political change. The climate movement and those involved in climate activism frame action on climate change in a diverse manner, articulating multiple possibilities for, and means to achieve, a different society. This article explores the ways in which activist groups in Aotearoa New Zealand work with cultural values and political imagination to organize themselves in framing the future to communicate and mobilize change. Our research identifies four key frames – rebel, reform, rebuild, and ruin – that shape the approaches taken by activists in order to resist the status quo and achieve radical change. We show how activists frame climate action and draw on culture to negotiate the political intersections of organizing for change, as well as how these frames overlap to create "in-between spaces." Examining these in-between spaces reveals multiple and contextual visions of political change, emphasizing the importance of the cultural contexts of Aotearoa and the possibilities that arise from imagining different futures. - Abstract
Scalable frames in separable Hilbert spaces have been recently introduced by Kutyniok et al. to modify a general frame and to generate a Parseval frame by rescaling frame vectors. The main framework proposed in this paper is based on the redundancy of frame elements and is used as input for classification. This method leads to a complete characterization of scalable frames in R 2 and R 3 . In addition, we introduce all possible choices for the scale coefficients of a given scalable frame. Finally, we discuss the scalability of duals frames. We divide the set of all scalable dual frames of a given frame into two disjoint subsets, containing and not containing an orthogonal basis. In particular, we prove that both of them are non-empty. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
In order to ensure the secure transmission and storage of video content, this research work provides a video encryption algorithm using symmetric and asymmetric encryption methods. The suggested strategy offers strong defense against assaults through the combination of the Affine Cipher, RSA, and XOR techniques with randomly generated keys. The algorithm first breaks the video into manageable chunks, then proceeds to use the Affine Cipher method to generate a distinct keys at random for each chunk. The RSA technique is then employed to encrypt the keys, ensuring secure transfer to the recipient. To increase the security, a new key is generated for every individual video segment using a random number generator. The suggested strategy also encrypts the video data using the XOR method, adding another degree of protection. Without a compatible key, the encrypted video data cannot be viewed thanks to the XOR algorithm. The experimental findings demonstrate that the suggested method offers strong defense against a variety of attacks, including differential, statistical, and brute-force attacks. The algorithm also exhibits excellent efficiency by being able to encrypt and decrypt video data almost instantly. Encryption and decryption only take 174.25 and 136.38 nanoseconds, respectively, per pixel. The suggested algorithm offers a reliable, effective, and safe solution for video encryption, making it appropriate for usage in a variety of applications, such as online video streaming, video conferencing, and video surveillance. MINORITIES , *CAPITALISM - Abstract
We explore the tactics of becoming visible and their relationship to alleviating or exacerbating precarious forms of life for minorities in South Asia. These tactics emerge from and respond to three interdependent moments: The frames that define how minorities can become visible, the interplay between limits and thresholds of visibility, and how capture fragments articulations and makes them easy to appropriate.
