The article examines the problems of Geology and petroleum potential of a new type in the tectonic structures of salt-strike-slip structures (SSSS), established by the author in the Dnieper-Donetsk depression (DDD).Depending on geodynamic conditions strike-slip within the salt dome shaft are formed of a convergence (compression) and divergence (stretching) zone. Inside these zones areas of transtension and transgression are allocated. These sections meet five morphogenetic types of salt-strike-slip structures: Chutivsky, Vesnyansky, East-Medvedovsky, Melikhovskay and Kochubeevsky.Developed a fluid dynamic spatial model of hydrocarbon accumulations formation in SSSS allows to predict migration paths of hydrocarbons and allocate traps in natural reservoirs. In the formations of deposits in SSSS a decisive influence have the processes of horizontal compression and horizontal strike-slip. These processes are the basis for fluid-dynamic models of hydrocarbon deposits based on the structural features of SSSS. It covers: 1) the formation of decomposition zones as the source and useful volume for accumulation of hydrocarbons; 2) following upward vertical migration of fluid flows of loosened zones on plots of shear tectonic dislocations; 3) the formation of hydrocarbon traps under reliable salt confining beds. The important factor in the localization of hydrocarbons in the SSSS is a complex tectonic dislocation where a significant role is played by areas of ancient deep faults, which are channels for the fluid heat and mass transfer.It is established that traditional gas condensate field is characterized by: a secondary reservoirs of fractured-porous type; component two-phase (gas-condensate); united gas-water contact controlling massive sheet deposit; maximum overpressure in the roof deposits under salt lid and anticlinal, mass of reservoir traps. In fields dedicated to SSSS, characteristics of oil and gas are: a wide range of reservoir types with depth; a wide range of phase state of hydrocarbons; absence of a common gas-water contact; multilayered type deposits; the absence of abnormally high reservoir pressure peaks; reservoir types in combined non-anticlinal traps., Рассмотрены особенности нефтегазоносности нового типа тектонических структур – соляно-сдвиговых структур (ССС), которые установлены автором в Днепровско-Донецкой впадине (ДДВ). По результатам проведенных исследований разработана флюидодинамическая пространственная модель образования скоплений углеводородов в ССС. Установлено, что традиционные газоконденсатные месторождения характеризуются: коллекторами вторичного трещинно-порового типа; двухфазовой углеводородной составляющей (газоконденсатные); единственным газоводяным контактом (ГВК), что контролирует массивно-пластовую залежь; максимальным аномально высоким пластовым давлением (АВПД) в кровле залежи непосредственно под соляной покрышкой и сводовыми, массивно-пластовыми залежами. Особенностями нефтегазоносности месторождений, приуроченных к ССС, являются: широкий спектр типов коллекторов с глубиной (от вторично-поровых до соляно-сдвиговых тектоклазов); широкий диапазон фазового состояния углеводородов обусловливает существование на одном месторождении газовых, газоконденсатных, нефтегазоконденсатных и нефтяных залежей одновременно; отсутствие общего газоводяного контакта и многопластовой тип месторождений; отсутствие максимумов аномально высокого пластового давления в кровельной залежи и пластовые типы залежей в комбинированных несводовых ловушках., Розглянуто особливості нафтогазоносності нового типу тектонічних структур – соляно-здвигових структур (СЗС), які встановлені автором у Дніпровсько-Донецькій западині (ДДЗ). За результатами проведених досліджень розроблена флюїдодинамічна просторова модель утворення скупчень вуглеводнів у СЗС. Встановлено, що традиційні газоконденсатні родовища характеризуються: колекторами вторинного тріщинно-порового типу; двохфазовою вуглеводневої складовою (газоконденсатні); єдиним газоводяним контактом (ГВК), що контролює масивно-пластовий поклад; максимальним аномально високим пластовим тиском (АВПТ) в покрівлі покладів безпосередньо під соляною покришкою і масивно-пластовими покладами. Особливостями нафтогазоносності родовищ, приурочених до СЗС, є: широкий спектр типів колекторів з глибиною (від вторинно-порових до соляно-здвигових тектоклазів); широкий діапазон фазового стану вуглеводнів зумовлює існування на одному родовищі газових, газоконденсатних, нафтогазоконденсатних і нафтових покладів одночасно; відсутність загального газоводяного контакту і, богатопластовий тип родовищ; відсутність максимумів аномально високого пластового тиску в покрівельному покладі і пластові типи покладів в комбінованих несклепінних пастках.

Simulators have been acknowledged as one of the most flexible tool in studying and evaluating network performance. Variuous approaches have been followed in data networks modeling. The present paper explores the range of applicability of a fluid-dynamic model, proposed in [5], able to describe the load evolution of a data network. Looking at intermediate time scale, it is assumed that packets are conserved, and hence the packets density obey to a conservation law. The assumption underlying the model is the behaviour of the information loss probability from which the flux is derived. Here the validity of the above hypothesis and the rules introduced to solve dynamics at nodes are discussed. In particular packet loss estimations using queueing models have been compared with the assumed loss probability. Moreover a TCP throughput simulation is proposed to evaluate the feasibility of the “tent” flux.

The aim of this work is to improve urban traffic viability through an appropriate choice of yielding and stop signs or red and green phases for traffic lights in junctions with two entering and one exiting roads (junctions of 2×1 type). We consider a macroscopic fluid-dynamic model able to capture the traffic evolution. We analyze different functionals measuring networks performance in terms of average velocity, average traveling time, total flux, density, stop and go waves, average traveling time, weighted with the number of cars moving on roads, and kinetic energy. Right of way parameters which optimize the latter two functionals are obtained. Simulations of simple junctions of 2×1type have been used to test the correctness of the analytical results. Then, global performance of optimization procedures has been investigated on Re di Roma Square, in Italy. In particular, we discuss cases in which the functionals are optimized locally at each junction for different values of right of way parameters. We show that for the chosen initial data the only algorithm for the maximization of velocity assures globally the best performance for the network, also in terms of average traveling times and kinetic energy.

We focus on the differences among the analytical optimization of traffic flow on a road network, modeled by a fluid-dynamic approach, and a dynamic random one. In particular, two real urban networks are analyzed: Re di Roma Square, in Rome, and Via Parmenide crossing, in Salerno. With such two examples, it is possible to show that dynamic random algorithms are not the right choice for the improvement of traffic conditions.

The working conditions of all components of a competition engine are very hard: they must assure durability and reliability during a race where the running conditions changes very rapidly. The injection system of a competition engine must ensure a great amount of injected fuel and a great precision about control (timing and quantity) of the injected fuel. In this paper a simulated analysis of a competition engine injection system is shown. The engine was developed by the race team of Aprilia and it will be employed in 4 stroke racing application. The simulation model of the injection system was accurately validated by experimental data. The model was performed by a mono-dimensional and commercial code, which ensures a good reliability and fast calculation times. The model was performed during the engine development, so in the beginning of this activity only design data was used to realize the model. In the first step only experimental data performed on system components by their own manufacturers was used to calibrate the model then, when the engine was realized and tested on an experimental bench, the model was validated by dedicated experimental test performed on the injection system. The model was used to test several design solutions, in particular it was used during the design and the choice of the injectors, furthermore it was used to test several system configurations. This model is an interesting example of a modellistic approach and methodology that could be employed during the development of a new engine and its components of high specific power.Copyright © 2008 by ASME

New computation algorithms for a fluid-dynamic mathematical model of flows on networks are proposed, described and tested. First we improve the classical Godunov scheme (G) for a special flux function, thus obtaining a more efficient method, the Fast Godunov scheme (FG) which reduces the number of evaluations for the numerical flux. Then a new method, namely the Fast Shock Fitting method (FSF), based on good theorical properties of the solution of the problem is introduced. Numerical results and efficiency tests are presented in order to show the behaviour of FSF in comparison with G, FG and a conservative scheme of second order.
