Introduction: During adolescence, personal competencies serve as protective factors against social exclusion and are crucial for promoting psychological well-being and creating opportunities for growth. Family and educational systems play a pivotal role in supporting these competencies. This study aims to analyze the relationships between humanization competencies, academic burnout, and family functionality, to examine sex differences in these variables, and to explore the mediating effect of family functionality. Methods: The sample comprised 1,092 secondary school students (584 females and 508 males) from Almería, Spain, aged 12 to 17 (M = 14.5 years). Results: The findings show that family functionality is positively associated with humanization competencies and academic efficacy, and negatively associated with emotional exhaustion and cynicism. Notable sex differences emerged, with males scoring higher in optimism, self-efficacy, and affect, while females scored higher in sociability and cynicism. Mediation analysis revealed that family functionality partially mediates the relationship between humanization competencies and academic burnout, specifically impacting cynicism, academic efficacy, and emotional exhaustion. Discussion: These results highlight the critical role of a supportive family environment in enhancing adolescents' psychological resilience and academic outcomes. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between attachment styles and family functionality in married individuals. A total of 362 married couples between the ages of 18-65 constitute the sample of the research. Data collection tools are Sociodemographic Information Form, Family Functioning Scale, Experiences in Close Relationships Scale-II. The data obtained within the scope of the research was analyzed with the SPSS Statistics 22 program. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Mann Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis tests were used to analyze whether the dependent variable of the study, family functionality, differed according to the demographic variables of marital satisfaction, getting to know the spouse adequately, the way of marrying the spouse, and the year of marriage. Pearson Product Moment Correlation coefficient was calculated to determine the relationship between the variables. With the Stepwise Multiple Regression analysis, the predictive effects of secure, anxious, and avoidant attachment styles on family functioning were measured. Findings of the analyzes shoed that the family functionality scores of married individuals differed significantly according to their marital satisfaction, getting to know their spouse adequately, and the way of marrying their spouse. A negative significant relationship was observed between family functionality and insecure attachment styles, which are anxious and avoidant attachment styles, while insecure attachment styles were found to have a predictive power on family functionality. The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating role of stress in the relationship between 4th, 5th and 6th grade students' perception of family functionality and their attitudes towards bullying. The study group of the research consisted of 351 students, 180 girls and 171 boys, studying in the 4th, 5th and 6th grades in Eskişehir in the 2020-2021 academic year. Data were collected using the "Family Relations Scale for Children", "Attitudes towards Bullying Scale for Children" and "Perceived Stress Scale for Children". The data obtained was analyzed using SPSS and LISREL programs. When the relationships between variables were examined in the model established for the purpose of the research and tested with path analysis, significant relationships were found between the perception of family functionality, stress and attitudes towards bullying. According to the finding obtained as a result of the path analysis, the relationship between students' perception of family functionality and attitudes towards bullying is mediated by perceived stress. It was observed that the goodness of fit indices of the tested model were good and at an acceptable level. The results of the research were discussed in line with the relevant literature. Finally, higher mean scores were identified for the high-functionality group when compared to the moderate-functionality and severe-dysfunctionality groups in both psychological well-being and emotional intelligence measures. Immunodeficiency diseases associated with the absence or dysfunction of any of the components that make up the immune system. These diseases may create difficulties for family functionality. The study aims to examine family functionality in the context of McMaster Family Therapy in families with immunodeficiency patients. The study include 153 family members from Immunodeficiency Patients Solidarity Platform in Turkey. The sociodemographic questionnaire and McMaster Family Assessment Device were used to collect data with respect to problem solving, communication, roles, affective responsiveness and involvement, behaviour control, and general functioning. The majority of the participants are married, females, university graduates and low income. Most of them have nuclear families and a diagnosis of primary immunodeficiency in children. Areas of non-healthy family functionality include affective involvement and behaviour control. Also, problem-solving, roles, and communication create risks in terms of dysfunction. This study aims to examine the variables of attachment styles , family functioning, and locus of control in individuals with and without alcohol use disorder. The 54 participants, including 51 male and 3 females with alcohol use disorder between the ages of 18-60s were chosen from the outpatients of xx service, the attendants of xx meetings, and the people referred by them. The control group consisted of 60 participants who were similar to the study group in terms of age and gender variables, without alcohol use disorder and psychological disorder. Data were collected through a questionnaire including Sociodemographic Data Form, Michigan Alcoholism Screening Test (MAST), Experiences in Close Relationships - Revised (ECR -R), Family Assessment Device (FAD), and Rotter’s Locus of Control Scale (LCS). In the results of the study, it was found that the participants with alcohol use disorder had a significantly higher ECR-R anxiety and avoidance score, and LCS score than the control group. Participants with the alcohol use disorder had a considerably lower FAD score than the control group. Finally, the effects of the applied scales on alcohol addiction are analyzed and it was concluded that the scores of FAD and LCS had a statistically significant effect on alcohol addiction. Accordingly, an increase in the FAD score by one unit reduces the alcohol addiction risk by %95, while an increase in the LCS score by one unit increases the alcohol addiction risk by %31.

Most models that analyse risk and protective factors during adolescence include the family system and family functionality as key elements. For this reason, Family Counselling Services play an important role in addressing adolescent problems. These services require quick and easy-to-apply assessment tools that integrate different dimensions of family functioning. To develop and validate a brief scale for use in Family Counselling Services, exploring and confirming its factorial structure and testing its psychometric properties. Confirmatory Factor Analysis using structural equation modeling. 441 family members in seven units. Results: A 5-factor structure was confirmed, with a good fit. All the Average Variance Extracted values were higher than the Maximum Shared Squared Variance values. The results confirm the structure of the Family Functioning Scale-Madrid. In addition, the scale demonstrates adequate psychometric properties and stable structure during two evaluation periods with different samples. The family can be an agent of violation or protection for the members that make it up, but when it faces a crisis such as the deprivation of liberty of one of its members, it can affect its structure and dynamics. The objective of this work was to describe the functionality and family typology in persons deprived of liberty close to applying a prison benefit in the Azuay No.1 Deprivation of Liberty Center, Ecuador, year 2023; the quantitative approach, descriptive scope, type of non-experimental and cross-sectional design. We worked with the population of 97 male prisoners. A sociodemographic record, the FF-SIL family functioning perception test and the FACES III family cohesion and adaptability scale were applied. The results reveal that most have high school education, singles, origin of urban area; really functional and functional families predominate; And, the family typology is balanced. The objective of the research that motivated the writing of this article was to identify the levels of effectiveness of experiences and conflicts affecting the dynamics of affective integration and emotional balance in families that are part of the National Army of Colombia. Methodologically, it is a mixed research, with a descriptive and cross-sectional study in its quantitative phase, and a phenomenological study in its qualitative phase. Families from one of the brigades of the National Army of Colombia were interviewed. The study reveals that the highest porcentage of family functionality is at an intermediate level (47 %), with 38 % at the high level and 14 % at the low level. In the qualitative phase, categories such as "physical and emotional absence on the part of the military," "military work as the sole priority," and "woman's adaptation to the military context" emerged. It can be concluded that women who decide to start a family with a man belonging to the Armed Forces must undergo a process of adaptation to the context, including the approval of the dynamics of the military environment, the prescriptions, and determinisms of convergent military thinking. Family functionality is the one that manages to conceive the general progress of each of its members; as well as a state of health, protection, and affectivity; which is the reflection of communication, cohesion, and adaptability. Family is conceived as that space of protection and development. The purpose of this study was to describe family goals from the individual perspective in households with different perceptions of household functionality in Bucaramanga and the Metropolitan area, by means of a qualitative study with a methodological design of interpretative phenomenology. According to the results, in relation to short-term goals, families want to pay off their debt, to improve their income, and in the immaterial goals, participants want to improve communication with their family members, to be more united. In the long-term, as for material goals, they want to have their own house, and in the non-material goals, they want to create a business, see their children united, share more time, and be happy. The main goal of the present study was to examine the effect of Structural Family Therapy (SFT) based psychoeducation program on family functionality in families of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This study was an experimental study based on the pre-test, post-test, and follow-up test model, with experimental and control groups. Family functionality, which was the dependent variable of the study, was measured with the Mc Master Family Assessment Device (FAD). The independent variable of the research was the psychoeducation program applied only to the experimental group. The research consisted of parents who have children between 7-10 years of age diagnosed with ADHD. This study examines the relationship between family functionality and styles of coping with stress in individuals diagnosed with substance use disorder. The study was conducted with 190 individuals who were treated for substance use disorder. The data was obtained using the Personal Information Form , the Family Assessment Device (FAD), and the Styles of Coping with Stress Scale (SCSS). Individuals' mean scores on the FAD subdimensions were 2.02 ±.61 for problem-solving, 2.17 ±.53 for communication, 2.15 ±.47 for roles, 2.26 ±.62 for affective responsiveness, 2.57 ±.46 for affective involvement, 2.15 ±.38 for behavior control, and 2.04 ±.50 for general functioning. Individuals' mean scores on the SCSS subdimensions were 13.71 ± 4.68 for the optimistic approach, 9.21 ± 3.35 for the self-confident approach, 12.68 ± 4.76 for the nonassertive/desperate approach, 7.76 ± 3.60 for the submissive approach, and 6.08 ± 2.38 for seeking social support. A significant relationship was found between family functionality and styles of coping with stress in individuals with substance use disorder (p <.001). The mean scores on the FAD subdimensions were above 2.00, which indicates a tendency toward unhealthy family functions. The scores on the SCSS subdimensions show that individuals with substance use disorder mostly used emotion-based coping strategies. Family is considered as a fundamental point for the development of people, where affection and security are found. The objective of this study was to analyze the evidence of validity and reliability of the Family Functionality Test in high school students. 625 students from 11 to 18 years of age participated (MA=14.52, SD=1.253, 60.8% male) and were students from first-fifth year of secondary level education. Construct validity was evidenced by confirmatory factor analysis showing optimal fit values X²/gl =3.84, CFI=0.943, TLI=0.932, SRMR=0.0342, RMSEA=0.0675. Internal consistency reliability obtained a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.915 and Omega of McDonald of 0.917 for the entire test. Background: The impact of COVID-19 lockdown on family experiences has not been thoroughly evaluated, given the consequent stressful home environment it reportedly caused that can adversely affect family dynamics. This study examined the prevalence and sociodemographic predictors of perceived family functionality, marital satisfaction and intimate partner violence (IPV) during the lockdown among married healthcare users in a Nigerian primary care setting. Materials and Methods: The study was cross sectional. Data were collected randomly from 432 eligible attendees of a primary care clinic in Kano, Nigeria. Information regarding participants' sociodemographic characteristics, family functioning, marital satisfaction and IPV were measured using a sociodemographic questionnaire, APGAR-, Kansas marital satisfaction- and verbal HITS-scales. Results: Respondents' mean (range) age was 30 (15–70) years; 293 (67.8%) were females. Family dysfunction, marital dissatisfaction and probable IPV were found in 44.2, 56.5 and 50.5% of respondents, respectively. The odds of a functional family were higher among caregiver and female respondents but lower among those aged ≥50 years, students, non-Hausa/Fulani, those with low education and residing outside the Kano metropolis during the lockdown. Marital satisfaction was higher among caregivers and respondents from polygamous families and lower among respondents aged ≥50 years. No studied sociodemographic variable predicted probable IPV. Conclusion: There was a high prevalence of family dysfunction, marital dissatisfaction and probable IPV among the respondents during the lockdown. These findings suggest screening married patients for family dysfunction, marital dissatisfaction and IPV during similar lockdowns for appropriate interventions. The predictor variables could form essential considerations for the screening.

In this study, the effect of 12-18 Age Family Education Program (AEP) on family functions was examined in a quasi-experimental study. The families in the experiment and control groups of the study were selected by purposeful sampling method. Self-Assessment Scale, The Family Assessment Device (FAD) and Me as a Parent Scale (MPS) were used as pretest-posttest data collection tools. A 14-session Family Education Program was carried out in the experimental group. No study was conducted with the control group. In the experimental group, it was observed that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores of the sub-scales of problem solving, parenting roles, affective responsiveness, affective involvement, controlling behaviors, and general functioning and there was no significant difference in terms of communication function. A significant difference was also found between the pre-test and post-test means of self-regulation skills. As a result, it was determined that the family education program was effective on parents. In the control group, no significant difference was found between the pretest-posttest scores in the subscales of problem solving, communication, affective responsiveness, affective involvement and controlling behaviors. A significant difference was found between the pre-test and post-test scores of parenting roles and general functioning subscales. There was no significant difference between the pre-test and post-test means of the control group parents' self-regulation skills. In the control group, where training was not applied, there was no change in general.

Objectives: This study aimed to examine the association between Family Adaptability, Partnership, Growth, Affection and Resolve (Family APGAR) and HIV treatment outcomes. Design: A cross-sectional study using the Family APGAR questionnaire Setting: The study was conducted in Kumasi, Ghana, at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Hospital Participants: Consenting HIV-positive patients who had been on treatment for at least 12 months were recruited. Main outcome measures: The Family APGAR questionnaire was administered, and relevant data were extracted from hospital records and analysed using STATA® software. The relationship between Family APGAR and treatment outcomes was determined using Chi-squared tests or Fisher's exact test. Results: Approximately 70.1% of 304 participants were females with a mean age of 41.8 years (±9.9). At treatment initiation, 47.4% of the patients presented at World Health Organisation (WHO) clinical stages I and II and had a CD4 count = 200 cells/mm3. Females were less likely (Odds Ratio= 0.52; 95% CI=0.31 - 0.90, p = 0.018) to report late for treatment compared with the males. After 12 months of treatment, approximately 70% recorded undetectable viral load. Patients with functional families constituted 70.4%, which had a statistically significant relationship with viral load (p = 0.041). Objectives: Dental anxiety determines the frequency of dental treatment availed with long-term implications in oral health maintenance. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of sociodemographic data, dental anxiety levels of parents, family functionality, perceived family support and other associated factors on dental anxiety of adolescents. Materials and Methods: 213 adoloscents who applied to the Pediatric Dental Clinic and their parents were included in the study and their sociodemographic data were recorded. The Corah Dental Anxiety Scale was applied to the adolescents and their parents to determine dental anxiety and the Perceived Family Support Scale was applied to measure the perceived family support of the adolescents. Regarding the family functionality, the parents answered the Family Assessment Device. Results: The avarage dental anxiety level of the adolescents was 8.87±3.10. The family functions were unhealthy in terms of roles, and affective involvement. According to the multiple regression analysis, the predictors of dental anxiety levels were family functionality, maternal educational level, previous application to the dentist, having negative experience in the past, the choosing of a dental treatment center, and training regarding dental treatment. Conclusions: Clinicians should consider that socio-cultural characteristics, family functionality and support may affect dental anxiety, and the improvement of the physical environment may be effective in reducing dental anxiety during dental treatment of adolescents.

Methods: It was a descriptive, cross-sectional study. Children under 5 years old with non-organic eating disorders were included. A questionnaire to study eating disorders (IMFED) and other one to describe family functionality (FACES III) were applied to their parents who previously signed informed consent. Descriptive statistics and Spearman test were used. Results: 105 patients were evaluated, 57 men and 48 women, medium age 3.042, minimum 2, maximum 60, ± 16.68 months old. Children 12-23 months old were more frequent. Parents reported chaotic family adaptability in 45.71%, and 39.04% related cohesion. The most frequent eating disorder was sensorial aversions to food. More than 60% had two or more eating disorders. Family adaptability and eating disorders were correlated in 0.248(p=0.011), and family cohesion and eating disorders 0.87 (p=0.38). Conclusion: Most frequent eating disorders were sensorial aversion to food and infant anorexia. They softly correlate with family adaptability. Children under 5 years old with 2 or more eating disorders are more frequent.

This study was conducted to determine the effect of the individualized development support program on the symptoms of the disorder, perception skills, and family functionality in children diagnosed with ADHD. The research was conducted in the form of a mixed model with a Pretest / Posttest / retention test and control-group design. The study group consisted of 11 children between the ages of seven and ten diagnosed with ADHD who were followed up in the Kirklareli State Hospital, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Polyclinic in the city center of Kırklareli and their mothers. The Conners' Parent Rating Scale-Revised Short, Perceptual Skills Scale, Family Assessment Scale, and interview forms were used as data collection tools in the study. The support program developed was applied to the child with the participation of their mothers and siblings, with a total of 18 sessions through home visits. The applied program had a positive effect on the perception skills and ADHD symptoms of children with ADHD (p<0.05). Furthermore, it was determined that the effect size of the program in perception skills, ADHD symptoms, and some family functionality subdimensions was realized at a large scale (0.80). It was observed that the qualitative and quantitative findings of the study were congruent with each other. It is thought that testing the effect of the program developed in this study, which can be considered as a pilot, with larger sample groups will provide significant contributions to the field. This article’s aim is to discuss the notion of family, seen as a fundamental institution of society and found in all societies. It was not long before the family was considered the only and ideal form of human coexistence and married life was the safest form of marital stability. Over the years, the meaning of the family has taken on different forms and, over time, families have changed. Each family has its own style of communication, relationships, adaptation but especially of functioning, which leads to the perpetuation of the existence of the family institution in all societies. Thus, the functional structure of the family has changed over time and has developed so that its members can live together and interact as efficiently as possible. The society comes to take over some of the responsibilities of the family, to create an environment conducive to the functioning of the family through various mechanisms to encourage this phenomenon. This article is a reflection on the fundamental institution of society, with the family, being a reflection on how it works in society and aiming at the functional relationships encountered within the family. Suicide is a high-impact mental health problem in today's society, both in the world and in Colombia: in fact, epidemiological data shows that there has been an upward trend in the suicide rate both in the country and in the city of Valledupar, which is the local context of interest. On the other hand, within modern conceptualizations such as the socio-ecological model of suicide prevention, it has been recognized that family factors are very important determinants of risk and protection. The different investigations reviewed as antecedents show congruently that family dysfunction as well as coercive paternal socialization behaviors are risk factors for suicide. Likewise, adequate family functionality and parental acceptance, and involvement behaviors are protective factors. Similarly, different studies have shown that older adolescents and females are at greater risk of suicidal behavior. The purpose of this study was to evaluate an explanatory model of the risk of suicidal ideation, which involved the dimensions of parental socialization and perceived family functionality, as well as to establish the influence of the parents' socialization style, based on the findings of previous studies. For this purpose, a quantitative, explanatory and cross-sectional study was developed. The ESPA-29, the APGAR and the BECK-HF Suicidal Ideation Scale were applied to a sample of 268 adolescents from the city of Valledupar, Colombia. A simple random sampling was used for the selection of participants within a neighborhood of the city of Valledupar. The sample consisted of 51.9 % female and 48.1 % male adolescents. The approval of the parents was obtained through an informed consent of the legal representative, as well as an informed consent for the adolescents, which complies with the characteristics requested by the Colegio Colombiano de Psicólogos. Using SPSS 25 and AMOS 25, five different explanatory models were evaluated, with a SEM modeling-Path Analysis. The model of best goodness of fit indicators (X2 = 22.2, p = .022, CMINDF = 2.023, CFI = .968, TLI = .919, NFI = .942, RMSEA = .061) establishes an influence of acceptance/involvement of both parents on family functioning, which reduces the level of suicidal ideation; age and coercion/imposition of the father also directly affect the latter. The data demonstrate the importance of family functioning and of supportive and affective behaviors of the acceptance/involvement dimension, since they present a protective effect against suicidal risk. In the same way, the data shows that the coercion/imposition behaviors of the father, but not the mother, were a risk factor. Although the father's authoritarian style did predict a greater risk of suicidal ideation, it was the indulgent style, and not the authoritative style, that presented the lowest risk. Although the measurements obtained by this research do not allow us to unambiguously explain why this difference occurs between the study's findings and what is suggested by the scientific literature regarding maternal and paternal styles of socialization in the face of suicide, there are possible determining factors for the results. The possibility is raised that, at a cultural level, beliefs about the maternal role in families in the Colombian Caribbean region, which arise from a formation of matrilocal families, influence the perception of greater acceptability of punishment by the mother towards their children. On the other hand, there is the lack of evidence of significant differences in terms of suicide risk according to sex. Some directions are suggested for future research, mainly to broaden the research spectrum on the role of the family in suicide prevention and to corroborate in the context of the Colombian Caribbean region the finding about the absence of effect of coercion/imposition behaviors carried out by the mother. Background  Depression is a common psychological disorder in women with infertility, which causes significant morbidity and mortality. Little attention is currently given to depression by health care providers who manage infertility, and there is a scarcity of studies on depression among women with infertility in northern Nigeria. Objective  This study aimed at assessing the association between family functionality, sociodemographic factors, and depression severity in women with infertility attending a gynecology clinic in northwest Nigeria. Methods  This was a cross-sectional study involving 415 females systematically selected from women with infertility attending a gynecology clinic in a Nigerian hospital. They were interviewed using Beck's Depression Inventory and Family APGAR (Adaptability, Partnership, Growth, Affection, Resolve) questionnaires over 12 weeks. Data regarding participants' sociodemographic and infertility characteristics were also collected. The association between categorical variables was assessed using the chi-square or Fisher's exact test. The determinants of depression severity were assessed using logistic regression analysis. A p -value of < 0.05 was considered significant. Results  The mean age of respondents was 30.9 ± 6.6 years; the prevalence of depression was 44.6% (32.5% were of mild severity). Most families (73.5%) were highly functional. Association between family functionality and depression severity was not statistically significant (chi-square =5.143, p  = 0.259). Respondents' religion (chi-square = 10.813, p  = 0.029), education (chi-square = 36.835, p  = 0.001), and monthly income (chi-square = 9.261, p  = 0.010) were associated with depression severity. Being a Muslim (odds ratio [OR] = 2.9, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.8–5.6, p  = 0.001) and having formal education (OR = 10.2, 95% CI = 4.7–16.5, p  = 0.001) were determinants of depression severity. Conclusion  The prevalence of depression was high among the respondents. Although no association was found between family functionality and depression severity, respondents who are Muslims or had formal education were at increased risk of depression. In this study, the effect of 12-18 Age Family Education Program (AEP) on family functions was examined in a quasi-experimental study. The families in the experiment and control groups of the study were selected by purposeful sampling method. Self-Assessment Scale, The Family Assessment Device (FAD) and Me as a Parent Scale (MPS) were used as pretest-posttest data collection tools. A 14- session Family Education Program was carried out in the experimental group. No study was conducted with the control group. In the experimental group, it was observed that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores of the sub-scales of problem solving, parenting roles, affective responsiveness, affective involvement, controlling behaviors, and general functioning and there was no significant difference in terms of communication function. A significant difference was also found between the pretest and post-test means of self-regulation skills. As a result, it was determined that the family education program was effective on parents. In the control group, no significant difference was found between the pretest-posttest scores in the subscales of problem solving, communication, affective responsiveness, affective involvement and controlling behaviors. A significant difference was found between the pre-test and post-test scores of parenting roles and general functioning subscales. There was no significant difference between the pre-test and post-test means of the control group parents' self-regulation skills. A modified version of the FAmily Functionality, HEalth, and Social support (FAFHES) questionnaire was used. Open-ended questions were also included.Results: Parents rated their social support lower than their family functionality and family health. Family functionality correlated positively with family health. No significant differences were found between mothers’ and fathers’ experiences. A three-months test-retest using the FAFHES showed no significant change in ratings of family functionality, family health, and social support.Conclusions: Family functionality was connected to family health in families with a child with NDD. The family possesses an essential function in the training of the future generations, because the foundations for values education reside in it so that they will contribute to the development of the healthy and virtuous society that it is needed. Reason why it is inevitable to improve the theoretical and methodological bases that guide their performance, as well as to achieve effective tools to motivate and train in the display of its educational rector role to build quality generations, which constitutes an indispensable challenge. The Covid-19 pandemic is generating a great psychological impact on university students and the general population, with the family being an important social support element. The objective of this study was to characterize the psychological impact of social isolation in students of a Public University in Lima. The study employed a non-probabilistic sample of 3,960 students, between 16 and 40 years old, where 40.2% were men and 59.8% women. The Scales of Positive and Negative Emotions (PANAS) and Family Functionality-APGAR were applied. The results indicate that the psychological impact was reflected through positive emotions (alert, interested and attentive) and negative emotions (scared, upset and uneasy). It was also found that the family functioning in the context of confinement reflected that the evaluated shared the problems of the house, as well as spending time in the family. Finally, the correlation of family functioning with negative emotions was r= -.279 and with positive emotions was r= .321. It is concluded that university students have experienced emotions as a result of social isolation, in which having the f68mily as support is an important factor in situations of psychological impact, having to strengthen the orientation and regulation for negative emotions and pay attention to develop positive emotions. Introduction: Systemic arterial hypertension and its prevalence in Mexico are one of the main factors of cardiovascular events, directly affecting quality of life. Controlling the disease at the first level of attention constitutes a therapeutic strategy that should encourage the patient to adhere to good treatment. The social environment of the patient is of equal importance, mainly in the familiar environment, providing support and security or, conflicts and problems that affect the evolution of the disease. Objective: To know the family functionality in the therapeutic adherence of the patient with systemic arterial hypertension in the family medicine unit #78 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Material and Methods: An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, prospective correlational study was conducted in which sociodemographic variable instruments were applied, as well as the Therapeutic Adherence Scale for Chronic Patients based on Explicit Behaviors, and the test of family functionality perception (FF-SIL), to all hypertensive patients who go to the outpatient clinic of the Family Medicine Unit #78, with prior informed consent. The universe contemplated was 2705 patients, of which a sample of 336 patients was obtained, with a 95% confidence interval for a type I error of 5%, expressed with a value of 0.05. The statistical analysis was performed with the SPSS software version 19, presenting the data in a descriptive statistic, which includes percentages for the most common central tendency and dispersion measures. Kruskal Wallis H test and Chi square test were used for the non-parametric intervening variables. When the distribution of both variables was normal, Pearson's correlation was used, and otherwise Spearman's correlation was applied. Results: A total population of 336 patients was studied; with a majority age range of 60-69 years. In determination family functionality, there it a trend in the increase on systemic blood pressure related to family dysfunction, with an average blood pressure being 130/78 mmHg in the group that qualify for severely dysfunctional family. Regarding the evolution time, a tendency to increase in years of diagnosis in relation to family dysfunction was observed with an average of 10.2 years of evolution with SAH for those with functional families, in contrast to 12.67 years in a severely dysfunctional family. In the main importance variables for the study, adherence to treatment showed a mean of 76.4 points ± 8.6. 89.6% showed high adherence to treatment and 10.42% showed moderate adherence. The FF-SIL scale showed a frequency of 54% with functional families, 37.2% moderately functional, 7% dysfunctional and 0.9% severely dysfunctional. Conclusions: The study showed that good family functionality promotes and preserves the health of the individual, which is linked to adherence and good attachment to lifestyle changes, having a significant impact on the group and individual well-being of the patient. Given the close relationship observed between therapeutic adherence with the family, it is essential to present a project focused on directing efforts in the field of prevention to health managers. This article aims to identify family functionality in elderly people living with HIV/AIDS. This is an exploratory, descriptive study with a quantitative and qualitative approach, developed in a specialized Care and Support Center of reference in care for people living with STIs and HIV/AIDS in a municipality in Bahia with 26 elderly people. A semi-structured script was used for the interview and questionnaire with sociodemographic and health data and the family Apgar, to assess family functionality. It was found in the study that most elderly people diagnosed with HIV/AIDS in this study live in a severe dysfunctional family (34.61%), which corroborates that the vast majority of the elderly keep the diagnosis of the disease confidential. their family nucleus, others live with stigmatization, isolation and prejudice. Background: Family instability and partner conflicts are reportedly common in serodiscordant relationships. To date, the family adaptability, partnership, growth, affection and resolve (Family APGAR), a standardised tool for assessing family function, has not been used in any published literature involving this peculiar group. Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the predictors of family functionality and its association with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) serodiscordance. Setting: The study was undertaken at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Hospital and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, Ghana. Method: This was a cross-sectional study. A systematic sampling method was used to select HIV-positive clients whose partners were seropositive (concordant) or seronegative (discordant). A standardised format was used to extract relevant data. All data were analysed using STATA® (version 14). Results were reported as odds ratios with 95% confidence intervals for study and outcome variables. Results: The study recruited 374 respondents, of which 52% (195) were in HIV-discordant relationships. Approximately 68% (254) of the respondents rated their families as functional, 15% (57) rated as moderately dysfunctional and 17% (63) rated as severely dysfunctional. A statistically significant relationship was found between family functionality and gender, as well as between family functionality and HIV status disclosure to the partner. No association was found between the Family APGAR and HIV serodiscordance. Conclusion: Amongst HIV couples, the strongest predictors of family functionality are gender and status disclosure. Healthcare providers should invest efforts into addressing gender-based challenges, utilise the Family APGAR and support disclosure of HIV status, especially amongst discordant couples.
