Search

Events have played a significant role in the way in which the Coronavirus pandemic has been experienced and known around the world. Little is known though about how the pandemic has impacted on supporting, managing and governing events in municipal (i.e., local) authorities as key stakeholders, nor how events have featured in the opening-up of localities. This paper reports on empirical research with senior events officers for local authorities in the UK on these key knowledge gaps. Specifically, it examines events officers' unfolding experiences of the pandemic. The paper points to unpreparedness for a crisis of this scale and magnitude, and the roles of innovation, adaptation and co-production in the emergent response. It highlights the transformative nature of the pandemic through reconsiderations of the purpose of public sector involvement in events and, from a policy perspective, how relatively smaller-scale, more agile and lower-risk arts events and performances can figure in local recovery. Finally, while the effects on, and response of, the body corporate (the local authority) to crises is an obvious focus, it is important to recognise those of the individuals who manage the response and drive change.

Veranstaltungen/Events im Beachvolleyball erfreuen sich in Österreich größerer Beliebtheit. Trotz des großen Interesses der Bevölkerung sind die Herausforderungen, um ein Event durchzuführen, für die Veranstalter:innen in den letzten Jahren deutlich gestiegen. Private (monetäre) Sponsorings sind immer schwierig zu bekommen, dies hat sich in der Pandemie-Situation aber nochmal verstärkt. Dadurch ergibt sich für die Veranstalter:innen oftmals ein Nullsummenspiel oder sogar ein Verlust-geschäft. Die vorliegende Masterarbeit versucht genau hier anzusetzen und herauszufinden, mit welchen Maßnahmen und Mitteln Events im Beachvolleyball profitabler gestaltet werden können, um in weiterer Folge wieder mehr Attraktivität für die Veranstalter:innen zu bieten. Durch eine selektive Literaturrecherche einerseits und einer qualitativen Forschung andererseits, wurden Maßnahmen und Mittel zu generieren versucht. Die qualitative Forschung basiert auf Expert:innenbefragungen – einer Variante des Leitfaden gestützten Interviews – und wurde durch eine qualitative Inhaltsanalyse ausgewertet. Die Ergebnisse der analysierten Interviews zeigten, dass sowohl seitens der einzelnen Veranstalter:innen als auch des Verbands Maßnahmen – kurz- als auch langfristige – umzusetzen wären. Ebenso kann eine gute Zusammen-arbeit zwischen den Veranstalter:innen und dem Verband helfen, Beachvolleyball-Events in Österreich wirtschaftlich zu optimieren. Den österreichischen Veranstalter:innen kann somit erstmalig ein Art Maßnahmenkatalog bereitgestellt werden, um den Gewinn bei ihren eigenen Events zu steigern. Beach volleyball events are becoming increasingly popular in Austria. Despite the great interest of the population, the challenges of organising an event have increased considerably in recent years. Private (monetary) sponsorships are always difficult to obtain, but this has become even more so during the pandemic. This often results in a zero-sum game or even a loss-making business for the organisers. This master thesis aims to find out which measures and means can be used to make beach volleyball events more profitable in order to make the organisationand execution of them more attractive for the organisers. Selective literature research on the one hand and qualitative research on the other hand were used to generate insights, measures and means. The qualitative research is based on expert interviews - a variant of the guideline-based interview - and was evaluated by means of a qualitative content analysis. The results of the interviews analysed showed that measures - both short-term and long-term - could be implemented on the part of the individual organisers as well as the association. Good cooperation between the organisers and the association can also help to optimise beach volleyball events in Austria economically. Fesselnde Momente bleiben in Erinnerung und werden weitererzählt, daher genießen so genannte neue Technologien wie Augmented Reality (AR) aktuell in vielen Bereichen besondere Beachtung. Der Grund dafür ist, dass die erweiterte Technologie Kundenerlebnis und Kaufabsicht vorantreibt. Das wirtschaftliche Leben spielt sich immer internationaler ab, die Reichweite steigt, doch dadurch auch der Wettbewerb. Daher wird es für EventmanagerInnen schwieriger KundInnen von etwas zu begeistern und erst recht diese zu „erreichen“. Die vorliegende Bachelorarbeit richtet sich an EventmanagerInnen, sowie Interessierte und gibt einen Einblick in die Einführung von AR in das B2B Eventmanagement und seinen Einfluss auf die CX sowie PI. Es wird ein Überblick über AR gegeben, sowie von „verwandten“ Technologien abgegrenzt. Um das Kundenerlebnis „erlebbarer“ zu machen, soll AR als bahnbrechende Lösung im Eventmanagement fungieren. Bisher eingeführte Strategien, sowie zukünftig empfohlene Umgangsweisen werden in der Arbeit theoretisch dargelegt und diskutiert. Im Rahmen der empirischen Ausarbeitung werden fünf Berufstätige in qualitativen Experteninterviews befragt. Auf Basis der theoretischen und empirischen Erkenntnisse wird angenommen, dass zukünftig noch mehr ManagerInnen auf AR im B2B Eventmanagement zurückgreifen werden. AR stellt eine erfrischende Abwechslung zum herkömmlichen Vorgehen im B2B Eventmanagement dar. Eine erhöhte Kundenzufriedenheit durch AR ruft eine moderat positive Kundenkaufkraft hervor und begeistert somit auch B2B ManagerInnen. Für die Zukunft wird empfohlen sich an das Thema AR heranzutasten, oder über Alternativen Gedanken zu machen, um die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit beizubehalten und nicht am Markt unterzugehen. Captivating moments are remembered and retold, which is why so-called new technologies such as augmented reality (AR) are currently enjoying special attention in many industries. The reason is that augmented technology drives customer experience (CX) and purchase intention (PI). In general, business life is becoming more international, the scope is increasing, but so is the competition. Therefore, it becomes more difficult for event managers to inspire customers about something and even more to "reach" them. This bachelor thesis is addressed to event managers as well as interested parties and gives an insight into the introduction of AR in B2B event management and its impact on CX, as well as PI. The thesis gives a clear overview of AR, as well a differentiation from "related" technologies. To make the customer experience more "experiential", AR is expected to act as a breakthrough solution in event management. Event management strategies already introduced as well as recommended approaches for the future are theoretically presented and discussed in the thesis. For this purpose, five experts were interviewed in qualitative expert interviews as part of the empirical analysis. Based on the theoretical and empirical findings, it is assumed that even more managers will use AR in B2B event management in the future. The technology represents a refreshing change from the conventional approaches in B2B event management. Increased customer satisfaction through AR evokes a moderate positive PI and thus excites B2B event managers as well. Тема выпускной квалификационной работы: «Организация Ð¼ÐµÐ¶Ð´ÑƒÐ½Ð°Ñ€Ð¾Ð´Ð½Ñ‹Ñ MICE-мероприятий». Объектом научной работы является процесс организации Ð¼ÐµÐ¶Ð´ÑƒÐ½Ð°Ñ€Ð¾Ð´Ð½Ñ‹Ñ MICE-мероприятий. Данная работа посвящена исследованию процесса организации Ð¼ÐµÐ¶Ð´ÑƒÐ½Ð°Ñ€Ð¾Ð´Ð½Ñ‹Ñ MICE-мероприятий. Задачи, которые решались в Ñ Ð¾Ð´Ðµ исследования: 1.Произвести анализ современного рынка MICE; 2.Изучить существующую теорию организации мероприятий; 3.Выявить особенности организации Ð¼ÐµÐ¶Ð´ÑƒÐ½Ð°Ñ€Ð¾Ð´Ð½Ñ‹Ñ MICE-мероприятий; 4.Изучить практический кейс на примере Санкт-Петербургского международного экономического форума; 5.Исследовать процесс оценки результатов мероприятия после проведения. Изученные в Ñ Ð¾Ð´Ðµ исследования ресурсы не предлагают общей картины теоретического и практического аспект организации MICE-мероприятий. Таким образом, научная новизна состоит в рассмотрении комбинации теоретической и практической ÑÐ¾ÑÑ‚Ð°Ð²Ð»ÑÑŽÑ‰Ð¸Ñ .Работа проведена на основе примера организации Санкт-Петербургского международного экономического форума, по которому проводилось практическое исследование и собиралась значительная часть фактического материала: были изучены организация сервисов, устройство сайта, процесс регистрации, представление программы способы взаимодействия с временным персоналом. Было проведено детальное практическое исследование устройства пункта аккредитации. Анализ проводился эмпирическим методом путем анализа информации предоставленной на сайте, а также анализа, произведенного в Ñ Ð¾Ð´Ðµ посещения площадки аккредитации.В результате был проанализирован официальный сайт ПМЭФ, сайт фонда Росконгресс, изучен пункт аккредитации №1 Outlwt Village Pulkovo. На основании исследований был выявлен общий Ð¿Ð¾Ð´Ñ Ð¾Ð´ к организации MICE-мероприятия. The research object is international MICE-events organization processThe given work is devoted to studying the process of international MICE-events organization. The research set the following goals:To conduct modern MICE-market analysis;To examine the existing theory of event-management;To identify specific aspects of international MICE-events organization;To study the practical case on the example of Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum;To investigate the MICE-events post-evaluation procedure.The studied resources do not provide an overall picture of MICE-events market theory and practical part. Thus the scientific novelty is in combination of theoretical and practical consideration.The research was carried out on the basis of the organization of the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum example. Considering SPIEF, we conducted practical study and collected a significant part of the factual material: the organization of services, the design of the site, the registration process, presentation of the program interaction with temporary staff approach. A detailed practical study of the facility was carried out. The analysis was carried out empirically by analyzing the information provided on the website, as well as the analysis made during the visit to the accreditation venue.As a result, the official website of SPIEF, the site of the Roskongress Foundation, was analyzed, the accreditation point 1 Outlet Village Pulkovo was studied. Based on the studies, a common approach to the organization of the MICE-event was identified. The results are presented in the form of a graphic diagram.

The article is devoted to topical issues of application of project management methods for the creation and development of cultural and artistic events in modern conditions. Project or event management includes studying the intricacies of the brand, defining the target audience, developing the concept of the event, planning the logistics of coordination of technical aspects before the direct application of the methods of conducting proposed event. Today, the development of the event services market in Ukraine is quite difficult to structure and impossible to measure using strict criteria such as volume, dynamics, number of players, etc. Therefore, in order to understand what is happening at the moment in the event industry, at what stage is its development and what are its prospects, it is advisable to focus on market trends, as well as problems that arise during the implementation of event programs. The purpose of the article is to identify the main problems in the formation and development of event management and study the main trends in the development of event services in Ukraine. Thus, the object of research is the Event industry as a phenomenon in the cultural space. The subject of research is the formation and development of the Event-industry in Western European countries, and the possibility of using the experience of Event-management in Ukraine. Event - literally translated as event in English. The Collins Concise Dictionary defines an event as: “Everything that happens, especially something important; incident". Special literature on event management provides a more precise definition and emphasizes that events have two key features: first, each of the events is unique and, secondly, they are temporary. Thus, we can conclude that event management is management of events. Event management is the application of project management methods for the creation and development of festivals, events, conferences, etc. Post-event analysis and return on investment have become important drivers for the industry. The recent development of festivals and other events as an industry around the world means that event management should no longer be limited in application. Events and festivals have a great impact on their communities and, in some cases, on the whole country. The event industry today includes events of all sizes: from the Olympics to a business lunch for ten people. Event management is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. In Ukraine, this type of activity is called management of events or event management and is one of the most important tools of PR5, aimed at obtaining a long-term effect in shaping the image of the enterprise, its impact on public interests and needs. Event management is a promising industry, but in Ukraine it is still a fairly new direction. Today, various events are central to European culture and have become more relevant than ever. Increased free time and discretionary spending have given rise to the spread of mass events, holidays and entertainment. Currently, governments in various countries support the development of the event industry and use events as a means for their strategies, economic development, state-building and marketing purpose in their activities. Corporations and businesses use events as key elements in their marketing strategies. It also helps to create favorable conditions for promoting the image of the enterprise, institution or organization. Differences in the development of Ukrainian and Western European event management can be traced in several main positions: political and economic situation of the country; list of services; level of management and organization. All of these points are closely related. Organisations are constantly having to make difficult decisions over where to direct finite company resources. These decisions need to be driven by a clear strategy and companies need to be prepared to manage any resulting change. This article explores the decision by the British Red Cross to withdraw from the growing event medical sector.

This chapter contributes to a better understanding of the Oktoberfest tourists’ customer journey, perceptions of attribute quality during the beer tent experience, and how attributes might be classified using moderated regression and multiple dependent variables (DVs). This chapter’s approach integrates Kano’s theory as it fits within the more comprehensive customer journey applied to the Oktoberfest context. Sixteen Oktoberfest beer tent attributes were classified based on how associated with overall satisfaction, a composite of loyalty, and perceived value. Findings support important similarities and differences from earlier findings; using the single DV (satisfaction) for classification, 13 attributes were defined as performance and three as excitement. Using a composite of loyalty as DV, 10 attributes were defined as performance, three as excitement, and one as basic; and, with value as the DV, one was categorized as performance, one excitement, four basic, and 10 indifferent. The use of multiple DVs provided a better understanding of how attributes impact consumer behaviors in an Oktoberfest or beer festival context. Researchers and practitioners should utilize this method to better understand attribute performance and categorization based on different consumer behaviors of interest. In addition, theoretical and practical implications are provided to support the need to consider pre-visit activities and other post-visit feelings and behaviors in future research and logic for experiential tourism.

It has been argued that ritual has been sacrificed to give way to modern event management techniques that prioritise economic viability and stakeholder satisfaction over the ritual purpose of the event (Brown and James, 2004). In this chapter, the authors reject this argument, and instead propose that ritual is undergoing a new resurgence in terms of its impact on event design for sport events. The work contributes to existing research on the symbolic relationship between ritual and liminality in such liminoid happenings as sport events. The authors interpret the relationship between liminality and related terms associated with rituals: celebration, communitas, anti-structure and symbols. These are further discussed in view of design strategies that promote drama (i.e. dramaturgy), arousal of senses (i.e. atmospherics) and interactivity (i.e. servicescapes). It is asserted that, while ritual and liminality is far from extinct, there is an increasing importance for professional (sport) event organisers to show a greater understanding of how it should inform their creative process. This would enable them to execute high quality events that provide memorable experiences. The chapter demonstrates that liminality can inform event design and is a fundamental concept that must be considered for an event to be successful.

Задачи исследования состоят в определении роли форумных кампаний в развитии личностных и профессиональных качеств молодежи. Методологической основой исследования являются теории event-менеджмента. Они позволяют раскрыть его специфику применительно к организации и проведению молодежных форумных кампаний. В качестве методов исследования служат анализ документов, включенное наблюдение, методы сравнения, анализа и синтеза. The objectives of the study are to analyze the experience gained by Russian event agencies in compiling programs and scenarios for special events and to reveal strategies and technologies for their planning. The methodological basis of the study is the theory of event management. They allow revealing its specifics regarding the process of formation of mechanisms of non-material incentives for personnel and maintaining the image of companies by organizing various events and, in particular, improving their scenario component. The research methods include document analysis, observation included, methods of comparison, analysis and synthesis.

Мета дослідження – виявити сутність основних аспектів і технологій створення іміджу вищого навчального закладу культури і мистецтв. Здійснити спробу їх узагальнення та класифікації у відповідності до обраного фаху. Методи дослідження становлять сукупність базових принципів дослідження: об’єктивності, системності, багатофакторності, комплексності, а для досягнення мети використані наступні методи наукового пізнання: описовий та логіко-аналітичний. Наукова новизна. Досліджується створення позитивного іміджу вищого навчального закладу культури і мистецтв засобами PR-технологій. Висновки. Образ вузу складається з безлічі компонентів. Громадська думка про кожну його складову, в свою чергу, впливає на формування іміджу організації загалом.Для побудови адекватної стратегії управління іміджем вузу необхідно знати, які з них, через специфіку даної організації, мають пріоритетне значення. Які компоненти образу вузу виступають одночасно і як критерії вибору даної організації. Сучасний вітчизняний виш, як державний так і приватний, знаходиться в постійному пошуку стратегії посилення власного становища на ринку освітніх послуг. Проте далеко не всі усвідомлюють той факт, що однією з найефективніших стратегій досягнення даної мети є формування позитивного іміджу вузу., The purpose of the study is to identify the core of the main aspects and technologies of a higher education establishment of culture and arts image building. The article tries to generalize and classify these aspects and technologies according to the chosen specialty. The research methods consist of a set of the basic research principles: objectivity, systemic, multifactority, complexity, and for the purpose achievement, the following methods of the scientific cognition are used: descriptive and logical-analytical. Scientific novelty. The author of the article studies PR-technologies as a means of the higher educational institution of culture and arts positive image building. Conclusions The University image consists of many components. In its turn, public opinion about each of its components influences on the organization image building in general. To build an adequate strategy for the University image management, it is necessary to know which of them, due to the specifics of this organization, are of a priority importance. What particular components of the University image at the same time serve as criteria for choosing this organization. Modern domestic higher education establishment, both state and private, is in a constant search for a strategy to strengthen its own position in the educational services market. However, not everyone is aware of the fact the University positive image building to be one of the most effective strategies for achieving this goal.

В данной работе изложена сущность подхода к организации и проведению мероприятий. Даны понятия «event-менеджмент» и «event-маркетинг», обозначены цели и задачи, выделены функции, виды и инструменты, проанализированы особенности и методика проведения мероприятий. Проведен анализ рынка event-услуг. Обозначены критерии эффективности мероприятий. Разработано коммерческое внутрикорпоративное мероприятие, сформулированы этапы подготовки, проведена оценка эффективности их реализации.

The purpose of the researchis to identify the essence and features of modern event-technologies, the way leisure organizations apply them, as well as to study the relationship between the concept of event and the cultural activity of the society, to analyze the event-management use in practice of cultural and leisure activities.The research methodsare an organic set of basic principles of research: objectivity, historicism, multifactoriality, systemic, and complexity. In its turn to achieve the goal of the research the author uses the following methods of scientific cognition as: problematic and chronological, comparative, statistical, descriptive, logical and analytical.Scientific novelty. The article looks into the triad of the event – management – culture study concepts, inseparably tied with social and cultural activity of the society, influencing the economic development of the state.Conclusions.Cultural and entertainment sphere has a great influence on the development and formation of the event-technologies. Event-management becomes an innovative tool for achieving the organization’s goals at all stages of its operation. It is also worth noting the importance of using event-management technologies in building a positive image of the organization, corporate culture, thus increasing its market competitiveness.

Rund ein Drittel seiner Erlöse investiert Red Bull Medienberichten zufolge in sein Marketing – der allergrößte Teil davon landet im Sport. Red Bull hat damit die meisten Konkurrenten im Sportsponsoring längst abgehängt. Um jedoch Coca-Cola als Weltmarke zu verdrängen, schwenkt der Konzern von seiner bewährten Strategie ab. Ob das funktioniert, wird im vorliegenden Beitrag analysiert.

Aim:\ud The aim of this session is to present a strategy for the school/ University on how to develop undergraduate research for publication. I feel it is important to show our students early work and to expose them to a research conference. Allowing students to submit to these conferences should hopefully encourage them to continue their development into confident researchers and progress well within their academic studies.\ud Content:\ud This presentation will first show the different ways other Universities are currently showcasing, sharing and publishing the research of their undergraduate students. It will then present different ways UWL may do this including incentive schemes for students to take part. Undergraduate student research will be present to discuss their work and their ambitions to develop it further. Their work will also be submitted as individual poster presentations. \ud Style of participant interaction:\ud The first part of the session will be presented by the main authors, followed by the student presenters. The audience is then asked to discuss the different angels, pro’s and cons of the proposed strategies.\ud \ud Expected outcomes:\ud The presentation will hopefully lead to a draft strategy. The experiences of the students at the conference will also be documented through de-brief interviews and may form part of future published research.
