As funding is one of the key pillars of research activity, identifying the factors that impact the evaluation results in research funding competitions remains challenging, due to the heterogeneity of funding instruments. In this context, our study aims to identify the elements that ensure the application's success, comparing two perspectives: one of the applicant and the other based on the evaluation grid. The empirical investigation focuses on a survey of 243 Romanian researchers. As analysis methods, we use a binary logistic regression model to correlate the success in funding competitions for research projects with a set of factors considered determinants. The results show that the researcher's past performance influences the proposal's future performance/success, with the quality of the project director's previous publications, and its international visibility being the key drivers of successful research project applications.

Rivers play an essential role in supplying high-quality water to diverse sectors. Understanding water quality indicators and systematic monitoring is crucial for water resources management and macro-level decision-making. In this context, the forthcoming article delves into the simulation of three crucial parameters, namely EC, SAR, and TDS, through a reach of 106 km length along the Aji-Chai River, Iran, encompassing stations from Markid, Khajeh, Akhola, and Serin Dizj. This simulation employs three advanced machine learning models: SVM, GEP, and MLP, in conjunction with the QUAL2Kw mathematical simulator. The study meticulously evaluates the performance of these models using four key indices: RMSE, MAE, R2, and DDR. The calculated results unequivocally establish the superiority of the SVM in simulating three essential water quality parameters across all stations. This is supported by consistently high R2 and DDR values, along with low RMSE and MAE values. While the mathematical model used in this study showed reasonable accuracy in simulating the parameters under investigation, it consistently performed less effectively than the SVM model. In summary, the SVM model with specific parameters (C = 68.5, ε = 4.55, and γ = 205) emerges as the optimal choice for accurately simulating river water quality parameters based on the conducted study.

Multi‐criteria decision analysis (MCDA) is well suited to address complex public policy problems but could benefit from new tools to involve many laypeople. Online information on specialized topics could be more engaging by including game elements. This paper reports an experiment that assessed a gamified interface to (1) inform laypeople about the objectives to consider in wastewater management decisions, (2) assist them in constructing range‐based preferences, and (3) provide a positive experience. We measured the effects with (1) a knowledge pre‐ and posttest, (2) the elicited weights and a range sensitivity index, and (3) an experience questionnaire based on self‐determination theory. Answers from 174 participants indicated that participants learnt about the objectives and constructed preferences in both the gamified and control treatments. However, in neither were weights sufficiently adjusted. Our gamification making the ranges salient did not help overcome this bias. Both treatments were experienced as neutral to positive, the gamified being more entertaining. We discuss implications: if gamification of tools for participatory decision‐making is to be promoted, it requires further research. Range insensitivity remains an unresolved bias in MCDA. A student involved in the learning-teaching process encounters the objectives of two types of curriculum at schools, official and hidden. While the target-behaviors, content, educational status and evaluation that are desired to be gained by the students within the scope of the official curriculum are written, the opinions and expectations of the teachers in the context of the hidden curriculum, the prejudices and behaviors of the teachers, the classroom rules, the student characteristics, the student achievements, the school rules, the architecture of the school building, time allocated to courses, extracurricular activities, social norms and values, ideology and textbooks are not included in a written place. Despite this, the mentioned variables have a significant impact on students' achievements and attitudes. In line with this importance, the research aimed to determine the perceptions of teacher candidates about the hidden curriculum. In the study carried out by adopting the survey research, data were collected from a total of 281 teacher candidates studying at the faculty of education of a foundation university using the Hidden Curriculum Scale (Akbulut ve Aslan, 2016). The findings obtained in line with the data obtained revealed that male teacher candidates have a higher perception of hidden curriculum, and teacher candidates' opinions differ according to the department and class. The article analyzes the methodology designed and applied by The National Agency for the Evaluation of Public Policies and Quality of Services in the evaluation of programs and public policies throughout their years of existence (2007-2017). An eclectic methodology, mainly pluralistic, although partially adopting other perspectives and paradigms. It was the result of continuous learning and evaluation practice. It reflects on different institutional and organizational elements that conditioned both its methodology and its evaluation practice. The design of AEVAL evaluations, with particular reference to the methods and techniques used, and their evaluation process, are also analysed. Abstract Background Recently, with the rapid progress of metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS), inconsistency between mNGS results and clinical diagnoses has become more common. There is currently no reasonable explanation for this, and the interpretation of mNGS reports still needs to be standardised. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on 47 inpatients with suspected central nervous system (CNS) infections, and clinical data were recorded. The final diagnosis was determined by an expert group based on the patient’s clinical manifestation, laboratory examination, and response to treatment. mNGS results were compared with the final diagnosis, and any inconsistencies that occurred were investigated. Finally, the credibility of mNGS results was evaluated using the integral approach, which consists of three parts: typical clinical features, positive results with the traditional method, and cerebrospinal fluid cells ≥ 100 (× 106/L) or protein ≥ 500 mg/L, with one point for each item. Results Forty-one patients with suspected CNS infection were assigned to infected (ID, 31/41, 75.61%) and non-infected groups (NID, 10/41, 24.39%) after assessment by a panel of experts according to the composite diagnostic criteria. For mNGS-positive results, 20 of the 24 pathogens were regarded as contaminants when the final score was ≤ 1. The remaining 11 pathogens detected by mNGS were all true positives, which was consistent with the clinical diagnosis when the score was ≥ 2. For mNGS negative results, when the score was ≥ 2, the likelihood of infection may be greater than when the score is ≤ 1. Conclusion The integral method is effective for evaluating mNGS results. Regardless of whether the mNGS result was positive or negative, the possibility of infection was greater when the score was ≥ 2. A negative mNGS result does not necessarily indicate that the patient was not clinically infected, and, therefore, clinical features are more important.

This manuscript addresses the forms of evaluation of diagnosis and intervention in Elementary Education, their use and practice in classrooms in the public municipal network of Petrolina and the mechanisms of adaptation to special education. Through field research, it was possible to collect data that provided an understanding of how evaluations are being thought about, what types are being applied and how these evaluations are contributing to the inclusion of students with physical or intellectual disabilities. The bibliographic studies made it possible to establish basic notions about the types of evaluation and present a critical analysis of the practices collected, establishing comparative parameters and necessary strategies so that the evaluation process can be classified as effective, dynamic and inclusive, in accordance with the specificity of each student, avoiding low performance, repetition and evasion, which are the main aggravating factors of a technical and exclusionary assessment. When talking about project evaluation, one particularly important aspect must be considered: the methods used to carry it out. Thus, evaluation remains the only effective method to measure the success of project implementation. It is one of the essential stages of any project, along with the identification of problems, their diagnosis, the development of objectives, formulating a strategy and an action plan and implementation. Decisions to continue, modify or complete the project depend on successful evaluation. Moreover, by means of evaluation we can learn important information about resource allocation, ensuring transparency and accountability through learning. Recently, the COVID-19 pandemic has forced decision makers at institutions implementing projects to switch to another method of project evaluation or to postpone these activities as much as possible. During this pandemic and in the post-pandemic world, the correct approach to evaluation methods by evaluators has become more important than ever. Furthermore, incorrect project evaluation can lead to wasted human and financial resources. Digital tools used in the evaluation process should be selected correctly so that in the end they provide a comprehensive data analysis picture that could add the most value to the evaluation. The use of information technology has begun contributing to remote evaluations, which has had a range of effects. This research answers the question: what is the effect of evaluations carried out during the last two years in the Republic of Moldova on educational projects? The aim of present research is to identify the reality of evaluating the process of evaluating the performance of agricultural extension workers (managers, implementers). In order to achieve the research aim, a plan was prepared that included 68 paragraphs divided into 9 areas, namely: managing the performance evaluation process, organizing performance evaluation (unit and employees). The reactions of the targets (employees) to evaluate the performance. Data were collected from a random sample of 86 respondents, director/executor, working in the Agricultural Extension and Training Department, its extension departments, extension centers, and other extension units in Baghdad province for the period between November 2021 - January 2022, by means of a questionnaire and by personal interview method. The results of the research concluded that 95-96% of the existing and targeted respondents believe that the performance evaluation process is necessary and it appeared that there was no official department, division, or unit concerned with the responsibility of evaluation in general and evaluation of performance in particular and that 60% of those in charge and 54% of those targeted do not have knowledge of the existence of a general framework for the performance evaluation process. Abstract Objectives Determine the proportion of patients starting the cochlear implant evaluation (CIE) process proceeding to cochlear implantation. Determine which patient factors are associated with undergoing cochlear implantation Methods Retrospective case series of all patients scheduled for a CIE within a tertiary academic neurotology practice between January 1, 2014 and April 30, 2016. Management pathways of patients undergoing CIE were examined. Results Two hundred thirty‐seven adult patients were scheduled for CIE during the study period. Two hundred twenty‐six patients started the evaluation process, and 203 patients completed full evaluation. Of patients that completed CIE, 166/203 (82%) met criteria for implantation and 37/203 (18%) did not meet criteria. Fifty‐nine patients out of 166 patients (36%) meeting criteria did not receive implants and 107/166 (64%) underwent implantation, yielding an overall implantation rate of 47% (107/226) among patients scheduled for CIE. Common reasons for deferring CI among candidates included failure to show up for preoperative appointment (24%), choosing hearing aids as an alternative (22%), patient refusal (21%) and insurance issues (17%). Overall, CIE led to a new adjunctive hearing device (CI or hearing aid) in 113 (113/203, 56%) cases. Conclusion Fifty‐six (113/203) percent of patients who underwent CIE at an academic medical center underwent CI surgery or received an adjunctive hearing device, but 36% (59/166) of candidates did not receive a CI. Patients who forewent CI despite meeting candidacy criteria did so due to cost/insurance issues, or due to preference for auditory amplification rather than CI. Level of evidence 4.

This article presents an implementation assessment model for sustainable public procurement policy and the results of two subsystems (context and operational and learning capacity). Sustainable public procurement signals to the market and society good practices for the acquisition of goods and services that integrate environmental, social and economic variables, aiming at sustainable development and the collective good. Bibliographic, documentary, survey research and ex-post evaluation were used. It was found that, in the context assessment there is a favorable environment, with agents who know the meaning of the content of the policy and level of education and adequate legitimacy. Operational and learning capacity has a greater number of pending issues to be resolved, as administrative capacity still has a lot to grow, justified by the absence of clear information on internal policies, with limitations between institutional planning and the policy execution phase, until it becomes routine. The starting point for economic policy analysis is the difference between what exists and what should exist. Therefore, opinions (views) about what should be, can be used to assess the observed economic situation and development. It is possible to come up with recommendations on how to avoid the differences between what exists and what should exist. In reality, we find factual events that any person can check. There are also desirable events that go beyond such a check. It is on the basis of their comparison that the content of both evaluations and recommendations is formed. Normative views express subjective desires, so the result of the evaluation can not be considered "right" or "wrong". It is possible that the entity (or economic interest group) will consider them acceptable or even reject them. As a result of the significant increase in economic uncertainty in modern conditions, the complex presentation of the targeted aspect of economic policy, as well as the substantial improvement of the degree of policy adaptability itself, taking into account the requirements for ensuring the continuity of systemic long-term forecast work, are especially relevant. Generally speaking, the proper selection of a suitable system for various uses is key to its full use in practice. In all areas, there is a large number of technologies, equipment, and systems to choose from, so it is necessary to determine the individual parameters and their weight, which are important for selection. In the field of reverse engineering, several technological devices are particularly expensive, and the selection of one will influence the long-term functioning of the system. Reverse engineering systems are widely used for the registration and documentation of historical objects in the sense of cultural heritage, and the presented scanning systems are suitable for this purpose. In this case, the selection of a scanning system is discussed. This paper deals with the methodology of selecting the most suitable reverse engineering system by the method of pairwise comparison of expert evaluation criteria (analytical hierarchical process (AHP)). The article is devoted to theoretical and methodological problems of assessing the readiness of socioeconomic systems for changes. The theories of factors that are the mainstay of this study are the interesting section in this study. To complete the study of changes in complex socio-economic systems, along with the approaches of evolutionary universalism, a set of scientific methods was applied, namely: structural-functional analysis, comparative-typological analysis, historical method, methods of induction and deduction. The aim of the article. The main purpose of the study is to develop further theoretical and methodological approaches to scientific substantiation of changes in socio-economic systems in different concepts of evolutionary economics. Methodology. The methodological and theoretical foundations of the research are the theories of factors that are the mainstay of this study. To complete the study of changes in complex socio-economic systems, along with the approaches of evolutionary universalism, a set of scientific methods was applied, namely: structural-functional analysis, comparative-typological analysis, historical method, methods of induction and deduction. Value/ originality. In particular, we defined methodological requirements for the evaluation process and systematized the formalized methods of different levels of socio-economic systems assessment implementation complexity. We proved scientifically that the trajectory of system movement is determined by achievement a critical point that changes the quality of socio-economic system. At the same time, the value capitalization of the enterprise should be ensured concerning consumers and other stakeholders, participants of the enterprise activity. The levels of socio-economic system readiness for changes are highlighted.

As an important resources carrier of economic development, river and lake shorelines have been paid more and more attention by the society. This paper started from the definition of river and lake shorelines, based on the current function division, optimized the original partitions. Based on the existing research, the results of the data sets of 40 original indexes were sorted out, 8 national indexes and 6 social-economic indexes were finally screened out. These 14 indexes were used as evaluation factors for exploitation suitability. The functional evaluation processes were then further detailed, including data collection, functional evaluation system establishment, evaluation analysis and conclusion. While university admission and attendance rates have risen dramatically since the dawn of the democracy in South Africa, university completion has not kept pace. These concerns about educational attainment have led to increased scrutiny of university completion and movements to hold universities accountable for graduation rates. This exploratory cross-sectional quantitative study aimed to explore the mentees' perspective of the Baditi Student Support Programme at the University of Limpopo. The convenience sample consisted of 55 (18 [32.73%] male and 37 [67.27%] female) volunteers. This study found that mentees at the University of Limpopo appreciate the university's intervention through the Baditi Student Support programme. It also found that mentoring remains an important role that every student must assume, formally or informally, sooner or later in their professional life. Mentoring benefits all parties--protégé, mentor, and an organisation or institution. The study recommends that an appropriate evaluation model or approach should be used to rigorously evaluate mentoring programmes on an ongoing basis for good practice. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The incorporation of suitable external data from the World Wide Web offers an effective solution for enriching the data in the data warehouse (DW). However, the main challenge is the quality‐aware selection of web data sources to maintain the quality of the DW. In the previous works, the quality evaluation of web sources is through expert evaluation only, which makes it a very lengthy process. Also, since the quality model consists of mixed quality factors from diverse domains of Web, DW and underlying business, finding an expert possessing an expertise of all these domains is a huge bottleneck in the evaluation process. In order to overcome these existing issues, this study proposes a novel multi‐level approach web source evaluation with multi‐criteria decision‐making and web quality testing tools (WSEMQT) and underlying quality model web quality model for evaluating web sources for the DW. The authors introduce automated web source quality evaluation in the first level of web source based evaluation and multiple dimensions of quality evaluation at the second level of expert‐based evaluation. At both the levels, multi‐criteria decision‐making methods are applied to the evaluation scores obtained to ascertain the ranked list of Web sources. The Sacramento–San Joaquin Delta (the Delta) is located on the western edge of California’s Central Valley and is of critical ecological and economic importance. However, ecosystem alterations for human uses changed many of the Delta’s natural processes, and it is now considered in need of restoration. An approach was developed to evaluate and rank restoration actions in the Delta under the Ecosystem Restoration Program’s Delta Regional Ecosystem Restoration Implementation Plan (DRERIP). The DRERIP approach provides an explicit framework for evaluating restoration actions, using linked conceptual models, an action evaluation procedure, and a decision-support tool. Conceptual models allow scientists and managers to synthesize scientific information and make qualitative predictions about ecosystem function and restoration outcomes to guide and focus restoration efforts. The action evaluation procedure is a structured assessment of restoration actions. The procedure clearly describes actions to be evaluated, assesses the magnitude (importance and scale) and certainty of anticipated ecological outcomes, estimates degrees of worth (achieving intended outcomes) and risk (causing adverse consequences), evaluates the reversibility of the action, and identifies opportunities for learning. The values for worthiness, risk, reversibility, and learning opportunity are used in the decision- support tool to determine the fate of a proposed action. The decision-support tool is a structured decision tree that determines the disposition of an action: whether a restoration project should be discarded, revised with a different approach and re-evaluated, or implemented; and, if implemented, at what scale (targeted research, pilot project, or full implementation). The DRERIP approach provides managers with a valuable tool for restoration planning, and a foundation for integration with quantitative methods for a comprehensive ecosystem restoration plan.

The water-inrush risk evaluation of seam floor is the basic work for the prevention and control of floor water damage. The rationality of the prevention and control measures is affected by the evaluation. The evaluation index of water abundance was introduced based on the water inrush coefficient by taking the coal No.6 in Jungar Mining Area as the study area. The evaluation zone was classified as relative safety zone, transition zone, danger zone, and subdivided into 1, 5, 3 sub-regions, and the evaluation process was developed. The results show that: the relative safety zone based on water inrush coefficient was upgraded to the transition zone in the northern of the study area, and the danger zone was reduced to the transition zone in the southwest of the study area, that improved the objectivity of the evaluation and liberated the coal resources covered by the water. The evaluation basic on double-index can guide the prevention and control of floor water damage more scientifically and effectively.

Generally speaking, the proper selection of a suitable system for various uses is key to its full use in practice. In all areas, there is a large number of technologies, equipment, and systems to choose from, so it is necessary to determine the individual parameters and their weight, which are important for selection. In the field of reverse engineering, several technological devices are particularly expensive, and the selection of one will influence the long-term functioning of the system. Reverse engineering systems are widely used for the registration and documentation of historical objects in the sense of cultural heritage, and the presented scanning systems are suitable for this purpose. In this case, the selection of a scanning system is discussed. This paper deals with the methodology of selecting the most suitable reverse engineering system by the method of pairwise comparison of expert evaluation criteria (analytical hierarchical process (AHP)). This paper contains a comparison of several systems and the selection of the most suitable solution for the particular company.

Identification and evaluation of Capstone project (final year project) plays a crucial role in the quality system of any technical institution which practices Outcome Based Education (OBE). The capstone projectsenable the students to challenge the conventional concepts and use the engineering knowledge to develop prototypes or to develop working modules for industries. In any case, the student is expected to identify the problem, formulate the objectives, perform an exhaustive literature survey, develop a benchmark model/simulate the existing work, develop the proposed modules/simulate the proposed work, evaluate the performance of the proposed work, document the work, present the work before a panel and explore the feasibility of converting the work as a technical paper or patent. The most challenging aspect is to formulate an assessment methodology for evaluating the extent to which the project has groomed the student in terms of Program Outcomes (POs).
