This study examines whether enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementations are associated with reductions in corporate misconduct. Specifically, we study the relation between staggered facility-level rollouts of ERP systems and facility-level regulatory violations across a large sample of U.S. firms. Our results indicate that facility-level ERP adoptions are associated with substantial reductions in local violations and penalties. Additional analyses suggest that the effects are more pronounced among facilities incorporating advanced analytics into their systems and among workforces that are less resistant to technology change. Overall, our results suggest that ERP systems generate indirect effects that enhance compliance outcomes across a wide range of violations. JEL Classifications: M40, M41 [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the digital age, integrated ERP solutions are the best way to efficiently manage an organization's business and resources, as they contain a number of specific modules for accounting, human resources, production, sales and purchasing. This system is designed to provide efficiency and transparency to all operations performed by organizations. The aim of this paper is to explore how ERP systems are a reliable solution in the context of corporate reporting. The modules of this system facilitate the collection, storage, and analysis of an organization's financial and operational data, building a solid foundation for accurate and correct reporting of results, especially its performance. The case study in this paper is summarized as a quantitative analysis based on a questionnaire, which aims to highlight the advantages and challenges of using an ERP system in the context of financial and operational reporting of organizations. The conclusion of the paper emphasizes the importance of using ERP systems in the corporate reporting of organizations, highlighting the main benefits they bring in terms of operational efficiency, data transparency and correct decision making.

Today, digitalization has covered all areas of the social system. The introduction of innovative technologies and ERP systems in the accounting field helps significantly increase the efficiency of financial management. At the same time, certain industries, such as public schools in Romania, still do not take full advantage of accounting automation. This article examines the adoption of accounting automation through ERP solutions in university educational institutions in Romania and explores the advantages and obstacles that come with this shift. In this study, a thorough analysis of the data collected through the survey was carried out. A questionnaire with questions was sent to 100 educational colleges in Romania. The questionnaire contained questions aimed at gathering information about the level of automation, the types of technology used, the difficulties faced and the benefits. Institutions of various sizes with various funding sources – from regular to high schools – were chosen for the study. Implementing automated accounting systems in institutions in Romania has shown noticeable benefits, enhancing efficiency and transparency while ensuring accuracy in operations. However, limited financial resources and inadequate digital expertise challenge the adoption of ERP technologies and other sophisticated solutions. The study results show that digitalization levels differ significantly across education levels, with high and secondary schools being the most digitized, while pre-kindergarten and primary schools lag in adoption. Key obstacles include constraints and a shortage of expertise, particularly impacting high school and secondary educational establishments. The research provides recommendations to enhance the digitalization process in Romania's pre-university educational institutions.

The research in this article was based on a bibliometric analysis that aimed to observe research trends in this field, through which to observe or identify uncovered areas and future research directions in this field. Following a comprehensive analysis of the benefits and challenges associated with the adoption of artificial intelligence and ERP systems in accounting and auditing practices, this study aims to provide valuable insights to these professionals as a result of the upward trend of the digitalization phenomenon. As a result of the digitisation of business, the article provides valuable information needed by accounting professionals and auditors to help them remain competitive in a rapidly changing landscape.

This study attempts to evaluate user interaction satisfaction with ERPsim games, using data from a survey of graduate students who used ERPsim games in a course on enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. The results show that the respondents are satisfied with user interaction with the ERPsim game. The results also show that the areas of screen factors, terminology, and system information, learning factors, and usability and user interface are found to have positive effects on the overall reactions to the ERPsim game, while the area of system capabilities is found to have no effect on the overall reactions to the ERPsim game. The results of this study would be helpful to those who use ERPsim games as instructional and learning tools as well as those who design user interaction of ERPsim games and further SAP ERP system on which ERPsim games run. As a result of the massive digitalization of recent years, ERP systems have started to play an important role in the life cycle of an organization, raising a number of challenges and opportunities especially for the accounting and auditing profession. The accounting and the auditing professions represent two very versatile professions as a result of the changes that have taken place from the moment of their appearance until now, they are constantly improving with the evolution of digitalization. Digitalization has led to the development of accounting and auditing organizations and of course to the focus of attention on sustainability processes and how their corporate reporting is done. The many advantages that ERP systems offer to professional accountants and auditors, as well as other categories of users, have influenced many organizations to resort to the implementation of these systems. Thus, to highlight the main challenges and opportunities that ERP systems offer to the accounting and auditing profession from the perspective of how to ensure sustainability and corporate reporting, the authors performed a quantitative bibliometric analysis, selecting a sample of Web of Science cited articles. The results indicated that ERP systems have a major impact on the decisions adopted by organizations, more specifically they ensure a true picture of the organization's situation, having a significant influence on the way of corporate reporting and on sustainability.

Furthermore, the limited exploration of ERP systems in tracking, analyzing, and optimizing carbon emissions across supply chains highlights another under-researched area. This paper systematically reviews recent advancements, methodologies, and implementation challenges, categorizing findings under energy efficiency strategies, green supply chain management, and digital transformation for carbon reduction. The study identifies opportunities for real-time monitoring, predictive analytics, and cross-sector collaborations while addressing obstacles such as high initial costs, data integration complexities, and the lack of regulatory frameworks. By bridging these research gaps, this paper contributes a comprehensive understanding of how Industry 4.0 technologies and ERP systems can transform carbon footprint management, providing actionable insights for academia, policymakers, and industry practitioners aiming to align with global sustainability goals.

Organizations are integrating big data technologies with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems with an aim to enhance ERP responsiveness (i.e., the ability of the ERP systems to react towards the large volumes of data). Yet, organizations are struggling to manage the integration between the ERP systems and big data technologies, leading to lack of ERP responsiveness. For example, it is difficult to manage large volumes of data collected through big data technologies and to identify and transform the collected data by filtering, aggregating and inferencing through the ERP systems. Building on this motivation, this research examined the factors leading to ERP responsiveness with a focus on big data technologies. The conceptual model which was developed through a systematic literature review was tested using Structural equation modelling (SEM) performed on the survey data collected from 110 industry experts. Our results suggested 12 factors (e.g., big data management and data contextualization) and their relationships which impact on ERP responsiveness. An understanding of the factors which impact on ERP responsiveness contributes to the literature on ERP and big data management as well as offers significant practical implications for ERP and big data management practice. Over the time, IT systems have constantly evolved and for this reason IT systems must undergo periodic audit procedures to see if they enable the achievement of a company’s strategic objectives and the efficient use of IT resources. The main purpose of the paper is to investigate how the audit mission is carried out on IT systems (ERP systems) within a company that provides accounting, consulting, payroll and audit services. The role of these IT systems (ERP systems) is to ensure the correct and complete integration of information within a company. ERP systems provide the perfect maintenance of the internal control system, but also the ability of managers to analyse the information provided by these IT systems as correctly as possible. In this article, the author made a case study, analysing the risks of an IT system of a company that offers accounting services using the MEHARI technique. The results obtained showed that the systems are effective and would withstand cyber-attacks, but could be less resistant in terms of specialized attacks (well-equipped hackers, professional spies).

ERP systems are among the most effective tools for managing small and medium-sized enterprises. However, the mechanisms for introducing such systems have not yet been comprehensively developed in relevant theoretical and empirical works. The article examines the ERP systems market in Russia, compares their benefits and drawbacks and delves into the details of implementing such systems in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The process approach to describing the stages of ERP system implementation constitutes the methodological basis of the research. The study has a quantitative design; the empirical data were obtained from 103 respondents in the period between June–October 2023, as well as from the Russian Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) for 2016–2021. We have found that 1C Company can boast the most advantageous position in the Russian ERP systems market for small and medium-sized businesses. The comparative analysis of the leading Russian ERP solutions confirms that 1C ERP is the most adequate product for SMEs in terms of its functionality, price, and speed of implementation. Resultantly, we have proposed an integrated model of ERP system for SMEs that can be adopted in a fast and effective manner, which is critically important for this sector of the economy. The approach can also be seen as guidelines to implementing an ERP system in small and medium-sized enterprises. This article describes basic IT support for dangerous goods inventory management in retail stores to ensure safe work. Retail network managers are often confronted with problems arising from the consequences of their chosen assortment choices. Time pressures related to seasonal assortment require the support of the IT system. For operators of regionally distributed shops, the central management aspect is of particular importance. Under such a requirement, the rapid and easy implementation of organizational and system design for a distributed business structure is key to achieving the expected result. A properly prepared system can significantly help in the process of implementing the idea of selling this type of material.

The integration of emerging technologies in Enterprise Resource Planning systems has the potential to enhance security, automation, decision-making, and predictive capabilities. However, this also introduces new cybersecurity challenges, as the systems may become targets for malicious attacks or data breaches. Understanding the nexus between organizational systems, artificial intelligence (AI), and cyber-security requirements, offers new insights for the modern business environment. Our study begins with an exploration of recent cases of AI-enhanced cybersecurity tools implemented within organizational information systems, as these currently stand. This research landscape is our starting point for an analysis of the impact of these tools on different types of systems, of the cyber risks reported in recent literature, and the configuration of cyber-security solutions tailored after current vulnerabilities of the business environment. Purpose: Importance of knowledge transfer in the process of implementing an integrated ERP class IT system. Design/methodology/approach: The chosen research approach involved a case analysis, employing two distinct data collection methods an unstructured interview with a member of the implementation team and observation conducted by the article's author. The rationale behind investigating knowledge transfer in ERP systems implementation projects is well-founded, as it is deemed essential for enhancing the overall efficiency of project management in this domain. Findings: The research demonstrates a clear correlation between the stages of the knowledge life cycle and those of the project. In the project's preparatory phase, essential organizational knowledge is identified. Subsequently, during the IT solution design phase, there is a transfer of knowledge from employees to consultants, contributing to the development of a cohesive IT solution project. This project is then implemented in the subsequent phase, leveraging organizational knowledge for solution creation, testing, and utilization. Research limitations/implications: The insights presented in this study pave the way for additional theoretical and practical exploration. The adoption of an integrated ERP class IT system represents a strategic decision with profound implications for business processes, resource utilization, and management efficiency. The ramifications of this decision underscore its pivotal role in shaping the overall trajectory of organizational operations. The aim of the publication is to present the history, development and application of intelligent systems such as ERP, the applied capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI) and the fears of universal application and the lack of a regulatory framework, both globally and by individual countries, the steps made to achieve regulatory control over the development of AI. To achieve the aim methods such as research and analysis of publications from the scientific community, business, institutions and internationally established organizations were mainly applied. The scope of the study includes the impact on the economy and society of increasingly widely applicable smart applications/systems. The opinions/viewpoints of established specialists, the positions of the European Union, the European Parliament, the G7, NGOs – Global Partnership for Artificial Intelligence, etc. are analyzed. The practical applicability is justified in the conclusions reached by the analysis that reveals the benefits and fears, past, present and expectations in the development of ERP systems and artificial intelligence.

The accounting profession is in a continuous digitization process, as a result of the frequent use of computer systems with the aim of streamlining and improving the daily activity of employees in this field. However, in addition to the benefits offered by these IT systems for accounting professionals, the risks to which the information processed and stored with these IT systems could be subjected must also be taken into account so that the quality of financial-accounting activities is not disturbed. The present work aims to analyze the main risks to which the financial-accounting data processed and stored in the database of the ERP systems could be subjected, as well as the way to ensure the security of the financial-accounting data within these integrated IT solutions. This article focused on a quantitative research using bibliometric analysis which is basically based on the analysis of a sample of 263 articles dealing with the two key topics of the paper: "data security" and "ERP systems".

With the study, the adaptation process of a production company in the furniture sector in Düzce was examined and the problems were determined that experienced while trying to adapt its activities that it will transition into to the new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The problems experienced were evaluated using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method, one of the Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) methods. Actively involved in the transition to the ERP system in the enterprise where the research is carried out during the determination of the problems; In addition to the opinions of employees and managers with the literature review for the study was also used. As a result of the evaluation made with the AHP method, related to the business examined; "Difficulties and errors in data entry into the new ERP system", "Problems in the process of transferring data", "Disconnection between units", "Difficulties in running two jobs together with existing jobs during the transition to the ERP system" and "Insufficient support and consultancy services during the adaptation process" problems have been detected. In addition, an exemplary study has been presented showing that MCDM methods can be used in the performance evaluation of ERP systems by presenting solutions for the identified problems. This paper delves into the impact of the automation-driven evolution of enterprise resource planning systems (ERPSs) on sustainability accounting and reporting and the associated challenges. By employing a holistic approach focusing on the current characteristics of both ERPSs and automation platforms and an inductive approach to perform a content analysis, this study highlights how the new generation of ERPSs can support the improvement of accounting in general and sustainability accounting and reporting quality in particular. The analysis was based on information provided by the developers of leading ERPSs and automation platforms with a significant worldwide market share. In this paper, we deepen the understanding of the role that ERPSs play in improving sustainability accounting and reporting, focusing on both the benefits and challenges derived from the impact generated by increasing the integration of robotic process automation and intelligent process automation solutions. The results obtained have academic and managerial implications, addressing a research gap concerning the understanding of the consequences of ERPSs evolution from the perspective of professionals and the competitive edge companies can take advantage of to improve sustainability reporting and accounting processes. This paper surveys the research on enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems' customization, focusing on Cloud-ERP. ERP system customization refers to the actual alterations of the system on a macro level to meet a specific business organizational requirement or business process. Currently, customization of ERP systems is considered by several researchers and practitioners as a double-edged sword. Hence, ERP systems' customization is often perceived negatively in the ERP literature or as a challenging issue that might affect the system's future updates and upgrades during its life cycle. While the ERP literature is rich, the number of studies focusing on ERP customization is relatively low, and literature within the cloud context is scarce. Thus, this article intends to bridge the research gap and highlight the area around cloud-ERP customization. Based on a systematic review of literature, our main findings show that, while customizations are viewed negatively in general, they are inevitable for some organizations and may provide a competitive advantage when representing a non-standard competitive business process. In addition, most of the current literature argues that the major Cloud-ERP providers do not provide system customization possibilities to most of their clients. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems are standardized software packages based on industry "best practice." Despite this off-the-shelf property, most companies that implement an ERP system choose to customize the software rather than change their business processes. Customization, however, represents a double-edged sword: on the one hand, it can provide improved functionality, increased user quality and satisfied users; on the other hand, it can bring significant risks to the company due to increased implementation costs, increased complexity, and expenses for subsequent upgrades. Interviews were conducted with ERP experts, and empirical findings contain different drivers and consequences for enterprises that choose to customize ERP systems and highlights related challenges. The purpose of the study is to develop a framework with accompanying guidelines that can help companies, in cooperation with suppliers and consultants, to better handle customization decisions in ERP projects. Rising healthcare costs force healthcare organizations worldwide to reconsider their business strategies. Hospital managers are tasked with lowering operating costs while upholding the high quality of care, two goals perceived as contradictory by many healthcare professionals. Attempting to contribute towards reaching these goals, the study explores the digitalization of the healthcare supply chain through the adoption of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and its impact on hospital supply chain costs. Established technology adoption theories are synthesized to develop a research model that investigates the adoption of hospital ERP systems and its impact on supply chain cost performance. The framework is validated via structural equation modeling (SEM) with data collected from 107 Greek public hospitals. The results indicate that technological and organizational readiness, hospital size, governmental policies, and perceived benefits have a significant influence on the extent of ERP systems adoption. They also demonstrate a statistically significant association between the use of ERP systems and hospital supply chain costs. The present study highlights the influencing factors of ERP systems adoption in hospitals and provides empirical evidence on the resulting cost benefits., This implies greater urgency for hospitals to digitalize their supply chain by implementing and fully exploiting the ERP systems' functionality in order to reach their goal of delivering quality care at a lower cost. In modern economic and political conditions, the main task of Russia is to fully realize its foreign economic potential, which means an increase in the efficiency of foreign economic transit. The development of the logistics potential of the Russian Federation is of paramount importance not only for the transport area of the state, but also for geopolitics, the economy in general, and the social sphere.For a progressive increase in economic indicators in the freight transit of the Russian Federation, there is one «bottleneck» — at present, the state of the transport infrastructure — in most regions of Russia, it is completely impossible to ensure the necessary efficiency of transit freight traffic, thus there is a need to competently form the transport and logistics infrastructure and clearly identify where problems may arise and prepare the necessary solutions in advance.

Enterprise Resource Planning systems (ERP systems) represent integrated IT systems that have the role of incorporating a series of modules and functions necessary for the development of the organization's activity. The digitalization process took off about ten years ago, when more and more organizations were looking for IT solutions to make their activities more efficient. The need arose as a result of the large volume of information that had to be processed daily and for which the time allocated for solving these tasks was much too large. The current work aims to analyze the digitalization method of the business using integrated ERP systems, based on the bibliometric analysis of the processed information from the specialized literature. The bibliometric analysis is based on a statistical (quantitative) analysis of written publications that address the two key concepts: ERP systems and business digitalization. Bibliometrics aims to "count" the scientific publications or the authors who wrote about the two concepts. The obtained results show that ERP systems can represent a source for digitalizing the processes of a business, integrating the organization's activity in ERP systems with the help of modules that can be implemented. ERP system modules can be implemented for each department, integrating all processed information in a single database common to all departments, access to sensitive information being controlled by each category of users. The digitalization process offers the possibility of the organization to develop sustainably, thus being able to obtain a series of financial advantages as a result of the implementation of a sustainable plan at the level of the organization. Purpose: Identification of knowledge management methods in the process of implementing an integrated ERP class IT system. Design/methodology/approach: The research method was a case analysis, during which two methods of data collection were used (an unstructured interview with a participant of the implementation team, observation of the author of the article). Research on knowledge management in ERP systems implementation projects is justified and necessary to enable more efficient management of these projects. Findings: The study proves that the phases of the life cycle of knowledge are closely related to the phases of the project. During the project preparation phase, the necessary organizational knowledge is identified. During the design phase of the IT solution, knowledge about the organization is transferred (from employees to consultants). In this way, a coherent IT solution project is created, which is implemented in the next phase of the project. From this moment knowledge about the organization is used to create the solution, test it, and then use it. Research limitations/implications: The considerations contained in this study outline further directions for theoretical and practical analysis. The implementation of an integrated ERP class IT system is a strategic decision, the effects of which will be significant for the course of business processes, use of resources and efficiency of management. Practical implications: The implementation process requires diverse, often specialized knowledge from the participants, and also involves multidirectional flows of this kind of knowledge. The implementation of information systems is a current topic, especially in the digital age and the digital economy. Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (such as some information systems) are a tool that can be used for information systems to enable the sustainable design of the management processes in architecture, engineering and construction (AEC). The focus of design for economic sustainability is defining selected key performance indicators and targeting good values for these indicators in AEC. The subject of this research was the idea that implementing ERP systems in construction management could positively affect the financial results; i.e., provide economic sustainability. This research analyzed the ways that these systems can reduce the costs and increase the revenues of construction companies. The aim of the research was to analyze the impact of the implementation of ERP systems on selected key performance indicators (costs and revenues) in AEC. A questionnaire was used as a tool to collect research data. It was distributed to construction companies operating in Slovakia. The research sample consisted of 125 respondents, of which 55 could be used for the research questions.
