Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) stand as a prominent cause of injuries in modern agriculture. Scientific research has highlighted a causal link between MSDs and awkward working postures. Several methods for the evaluation of working postures, and related risks, have been developed such as the Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA). Nevertheless, these methods are generally applied with manual measurements on pictures or videos. As a consequence, their applicability could be scarce, and their effectiveness could be limited. The use of wearable sensors to collect kinetic data could facilitate the use of these methods for risk assessment. Nevertheless, the existing system may not be usable in the agricultural and vine sectors because of its cost, robustness and versatility to the various anthropometric characteristics of workers. The aim of this study was to develop a technology capable of collecting accurate data about uncomfortable postures and repetitive movements typical of vine workers. Specific objectives of the project were the development of a low-cost, robust, and wearable device, which could measure data about wrist angles and workers' hand positions during possible viticultural operations. Furthermore, the project was meant to test its use to evaluate incongruous postures and repetitive movements of workers' hand positions during pruning operations in vineyard. The developed sensor had 3-axis accelerometers and a gyroscope, and it could monitor the positions of the hand–wrist–forearm musculoskeletal system when moving. When such a sensor was applied to the study of a real case, such as the pruning of a vines, it permitted the evaluation of a simulated sequence of pruning and the quantification of the levels of risk induced by this type of agricultural activity. Construction firms face challenges in sourcing qualified candidates for enhancing project outcomes through sensor data analytics. There are limited tools for teaching students from construction-related disciplines how to analyze sensor data. By harnessing the potential of block-based programming, this study designed a pedagogical tool, InerSens, to support construction engineering students with no prior programming experience to analyze sensor data and address real-world construction challenges, such as ergonomic risks. Altogether 20 students participated in an experiment comparing InerSens and a traditional platform, Microsoft Excel, for data analytics. Evaluations involved usability, perceived workload, visual attention, verbal feedback using the System Usability Scale, NASA TLX, eye-tracking metrics, and interviews. InerSens was rated as 8.89% more user-friendly than the traditional tool, with a significantly reduced perceived cognitive load by 46.11%, and a more balanced distribution of visual attention during data analytics tasks. Through the evaluation of cognitive and usability factors, this paper extends the applications of the Learning-for-Use and the Cognitive Load theories, emphasizing their applicability in instructional design, revealing learner needs, and the potential to advance the development of pedagogical tools for data analytics. Background: The elbow is a common site for overuse injuries in golfers. Tendinopathies, such as medial and lateral epicondylitis, are frequently diagnosed in amateur and professional golfers. The aim of our study was to determine the effect of an ergonomic golf grip on forearm muscle activity during the five phases of the golf swing. Methods: Thirty right-handed golfers with a mean age of 32 years (range, 18–70 years) and a mean handicap of 15 (range, 0–43) performed 10 golf swings with a standard and ergonomic golf grip respectively. The mean and maximum muscle activity of the Musculus (M.) extensor carpi radialis brevis (ECRB), M. flexor carpi ulnaris (FCU), M. pronator teres (PT) and M. biceps brachii (BB) of the lead and trail arms were assessed during the five phases of the golf swing using surface electromyography (EMG). Subgroup analyses were performed regarding sex, playing ability (handicap < 10 vs. ≥10), weekly playing time (≤ 5 h, 5–20 h, > 20 h) and preexisting elbow pain during golfing (VAS < 2 vs. VAS ≥ 2). Significance was set at p < 0.05. Results: An ergonomic golf grip resulted in a reduction in muscle activity in at least one but up to three consecutive phases of the golf swing for the ECRB, FCU and PT of the lead arm and for the PT of the trail arm. Amateurs, a playing time < 20 h per week and golfers without preexisting elbow pain were factors that were associated with greater reductions in muscle activity. Conclusion: Forearm muscle activity can be decreased using an ergonomic golf grip, indicating the possible role of an ergonomic golf grip as a preventive measure against overuse syndromes such as medial and lateral epicondylitis. This study aims to determine the knowledge, attitudes and ergonomic practices (KAP) of office workers in Malaysia in preventing work-related musculoskeletal disorders. An online cross-sectional survey of 266 office workers in Malaysia was conducted. All participants were asked to complete a five-part questionnaire to extract information on sociodemographic data, prevalence of work-related muscle disorders (WMSD), level of knowledge, attitudes, and ergonomic practices. The prevalence of WMSD was measured using the Cornell MS Discomfort Questionnaire (CMDQ) with high reliability and validity, with a Cronbach's Alpha value exceeding 0.95, and an intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC)= 0.69-0.95. Ergonomic knowledge was measured using the Ergonomic Knowledge Questionnaire with high validity (0.98) and fair reliability (r= 0.75). The attitude questionnaire was measured using a Likert scale consisting of yes, no, and maybe. Ergonomic practices are obtained by using the Rapid Office Strain Assessment (ROSA). ROSA is a questionnaire with high inter-observer and intra-observer reliability (ICC 0.88 and 0.91). Participants answered a picture-based questionnaire consisting of 3 parts: (1) chair, (2) monitor and telephone, (3) mouse. Most office workers experienced WMSD (99.3%) with moderate discomfort (66.5%). The common complaints being upper back (83%), right upper arm (78.9%) and neck (78.6%). A total of 73.7% of office workers have poor and little knowledge about ergonomics. The majority of office workers (97%) have a positive attitude towards ergonomics. 75.2% of office workers in Malaysia have good ergonomic practices. Objectives To analyze the association between occupational ergonomic risk, personal characteristics, and working conditions with the biomechanical properties of stiffness and muscular tone in the paravertebral muscles of electric pallet jack and forklift operators in the industrial sector. Methods A total of 75 industrial sector machine operators were evaluated in 2021. Personal characteristics and working conditions were assessed through a questionnaire. Ergonomic risk was assessed using the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method, and biomechanical properties of stiffness and muscular tone were obtained using the Myoton Pro device. Stiffness in paravertebral muscles was compared based on the operated machine and observed ergonomic risk. A multilevel linear regression model was employed to quantify the relationship, with mean differences and 95% CI calculated. Results Very high ergonomic risk was found in 75% of the electric pallet truck drivers. In this group with the highest ergonomic risk, an association between biomechanical properties and older workers was observed. Additionally, among electric pallet truck drivers, stiffness (mean difference 335.9 N/m, 95% CI: 46.4 (3.4 to 110.0), P < 0.05) and paravertebral muscle tone (mean difference 17.5 Hz, 95% CI: 1.4 (0.1 to 3.4), P < 0.05) showed statistically significant differences in the very high ergonomic risk category compared to the high-risk category. No significant differences were observed in any of the analyzed variables among forklift drivers. Conclusions Workers operating electric pallet trucks with very high ergonomic risk according to the REBA method and aged over 40 yr are associated with increased muscle stiffness and tone. The construction sector is a sector that employs many people who have high risk of work accidents, because a lot of work in this sector is possibility carried out by unsafe actions or unsafe conditions. PT. Arto Moro Sentosa is company which operates in general trading, general construction, suppliers, outsourcing, etc., is aware that the business has a high risk of work accidents. The lack of employee awareness will have an impact on the magnitude of the risks that must be borne by the worker and the company. The purpose of this research is determining work accident records for the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) system, employee risks, and existing improvements at company. By knowing the classification of hazards based on the type of accident, this research uses the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) method, histograms, Pareto diagrams, and cause-and-effect (fish bone) diagrams. Based on the author's observations, company data related to OHS (Occupational Health and Safety) and interviews with the directors, could be obtained a history of work accidents based on the type of accident. Here are ergonomic work accidents (57.89%), physical factor accidents ( 31.58%), chemical factor accidents (5.26%), biological factor accidents (5.26%), and psychological factor accidents (0%). Several recommendation is performed to avoid repeated accident by providing training programs on OHS to workers, paying more attention to OHS supervision, giving sanctions to workers who violate OHS.

Multifidus is an important lumbar muscle with distinct superficial and deep fibers responsible for torque production and stabilization, respectively. Its mechanical properties change when transitioning from lying to sitting positions, necessitating enhanced stability. It holds crucial clinical relevance to assess these layers separately, especially in the sitting posture, which demands increased neuromuscular control compared to the prone position. To compare lumbar multifidus stiffness in lying versus sitting postures, analyzing both superficial and deep layers. Supersonic Shear Imaging captured elastographic images from 26 asymptomatic volunteers in prone and seated positions. Left multifidus shear modulus in lying: 5.98 ± 1.80/7.96 ± 1.59 kPa (deep/superficial) and sitting: 12.58 ± 4.22/16.04 ± 6.65 kPa. Right side lying: 6.08 ± 1.97/7.80 ± 1.76 kPa and sitting: 13.25 ± 4.61/17.95 ± 7.12 kPa. No side differences (lying p= 0.99, sitting p= 0.43). However, significant inter-postural differences occurred. Lumbar multifidus exhibits increased stiffness in sitting, both layers affected, with superior stiffness in superficial versus deep fibers. Applying these findings could enhance assessing multifidus stiffness changes, for classifying tension-induced low back pain stages. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study investigated the relationship between demographic factors and ergonomic risks assessed by the HEMPA method with musculoskeletal disorders among hospital nurses. This descriptive-analytical and cross-sectional study was conducted on nurses (n = 46) working in hospital settings. Demographic and Body Map questionnaires and the HEMPA method collected data. Based on the body map questionnaires, low back pain (43.1%) was the most prevalent musculoskeletal disorder among nurses. In examining the relationship between demographic variables and the prevalence of disorders/severity of pain, between height with the neck pain prevalence (χ2=7.84, p < 0.05) gender with the right wrist prevalence and neck pain prevalence (r = 0.44, p < 0.05; r = 0.42, p < 0.05 respectively), and marital status with the neck pain prevalence (r = 0.70, p < 0.01) statistically significant relationship were observed. The lowest scores sub-items of the HEMPA method were for training (score = 0), environmental conditions (score = 0.15), transfer execution and postural analysis (score = 0.3), and work organization (score = 0.5) items. The total score of the HEMPA for a hospital was 12.3, which showed that nurses' risk of musculoskeletal disorders was at a medium level. The score of the HEMPA has a significant and negative correlation with musculoskeletal disorders (r=-0.08, p < 0.05). Also, the results indicated that one of the seven hospital wards (HEMPA score related to men's orthopedic = 15.28) obtained one-half of the maximum score of 30. With the corrective measures, including training courses on proper patient handling, improving environmental conditions, increasing the number of nurses, reducing night working shifts, employing the proper equipment, and using minor aids/devices, the total score of the HEMPA will be increased. Introduction: Robotic and thoracoscopic surgery are being increasingly adopted as minimally invasive alternatives to open sternotomy for complete thymectomy. The superior maneuverability range and three-dimensional magnified vision are potential ergonomical advantages of robotic surgery. To compare the ergonomic characteristics of robotic versus thoracoscopic thymectomy, a previously developed scoring system based on impartial findings was employed. The relationship between ergonomic scores and perioperative endpoints was also analyzed. Methods: Perioperative data of patients undergoing robotic or thoracoscopic complete thymectomy between January 2014 and December 2022 at three institutions were retrospectively retrieved. Surgical procedures were divided into four standardized surgical steps: lower-horns, upper-horns, thymic veins and peri-thymic fat dissection. Three ergonomic domains including maneuverability, exposure and instrumentation were scored as excellent(score-3), satisfactory(score-2) and unsatisfactory(score-1) by three independent reviewers. Propensity score matching (2:1) was performed, including anterior mediastinal tumors only. The primary endpoint was the total maneuverability score. Secondary endpoints included the other ergonomic domain scores, intraoperative adverse events, conversion to sternotomy, operative time, post-operative complications and residual disease. Results: A total of 68 robotic and 34 thoracoscopic thymectomies were included after propensity score matching. The robotic group had a higher total maneuverability score (p = 0.039), particularly in the peri-thymic fat dissection (p = 0.003) and peri-thymic fat exposure score (p = 0.027). Moreover, the robotic group had lower intraoperative adverse events (p = 0.02). No differences were found in residual disease. Conclusions: Robotic thymectomy has shown better ergonomic maneuverability compared to thoracoscopy, leading to fewer intraoperative adverse events and comparable early oncological results. Background: The physically demanding and high-stress environment of Emergency Departments (EDs) significantly contributes to the heightened risk of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) among ED nurses. Despite this known association, there is a lack of comprehensive understanding of the prevalence rates and contributing factors within ED settings in Saudi Arabia, necessitating further investigation. Purpose: This study delves into the prevalence and potential predictors of MSDs among nurses in this critical healthcare setting. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted in March 2023 using convenience sampling of 177 ED nurses across 16 public hospitals in Hail, Saudi Arabia. The Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire was employed, with SPSS analyses covering frequency and percentage of pain prevalence via cross-tabulation, and logistic regression to identify risk factors. Results: Over the past year, 68.9% of participants reported lower back pain affecting normal activities in 55.4% of cases. Neck pain was more likely in individuals aged 20-29 and former smokers accounting for 47.6% of the variance (p=0.001). Shorter shifts under 8 hours reduced neck pain risk, whereas a schedule with 50% of night shifts heightened the risk, contributing to 28.4% of the variance (p=0.001). Nurses aged 40-49 and those with significant childcare duties faced higher shoulder pain risk (p=0.024), and adult caregiving duties was linked to upper back pain explaining 40.6% of the variance (p=0.017). No significant links were found for other musculoskeletal pains. Conclusion: The study reveals a significant prevalence of MSDs among the evaluated ED nurses, significantly influenced by specific demographic and workrelated factors. Addressing these through ergonomic interventions, optimal scheduling, and wellness programs is crucial for nurse well-being and patient care. IntroductionSurgical-related injuries are frequent, in fact the reported percentage of musculoskeletal disorders in surgeons is between 47% and 87%. These conditions are caused by long periods of standing, incorrect postures, repeated movements, little rest between operations, the lack of integrated operator rooms, the correct number and arrangement of monitors and the use of non-ergonomic instruments. This survey aims to assess the Italian overview both highlighting how prevalent surgical-related injury is in our surgeons and whether there is an operating room ergonomics education program in Italian surgical specialty schools.MethodsAn anonymous questionnaire was designed through SurveyMonkey© web application. This survey was composed of 3 different sections concerning the general characteristics of the participants, their surgical background and any training performed, and any injuries or ailments related to the surgical activity. The survey was carried out in the period 1th of December 2022 and the 6th of February 2023.ResultsAt the close of our survey, 300 responses were collected. Among the participants, the two most represented specialties were Gynecology and Obstetrics (42.3%) and General Surgery (39.7%) and surgeons were mainly employed in the Northern regions of Italy (54.8%). Analyzing the participants’ background, 61.7% of the respondents had laparoscopic training during their training and only 53.1% had a pelvic trainer during their residency. In accordance with 98.7% of the respondents, during surgery we have the feeling of being in an uncomfortable position that causes discomfort or muscle pain, and regarding the frequency of these discomforts, the majority of our study population experiences these problems monthly (46.2%), while in 29.6% it is experienced weekly, 12.1% annually and finally 12.1% daily. The surgical approach that is most correlated with these disorders is laparoscopy (62.7%) while the one that causes the least discomfort is robotic surgery (1.4%). These discomforts cause 43.9% of our population to take a break or do short exercises to reduce pain during surgery, and the body areas most affected are the back (61.6%), neck (40.6%) and shoulders (37.8%).ConclusionDespite this, our survey allows us to highlight some now-known gaps present in the surgical training program of our schools and the lack of protection toward our surgeons during their long career.

Ergonomics is important for sustainable development in many fields, including architecture, health, product design, safety, and workplace design. Ergonomic assessments are essential in the workplace to prevent musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). Currently, Indonesia has a standardized ergonomic assessment, SNI 9011:2021. This assessment standard is widely used to evaluate human posture. This study aims to evaluate the position of a traditional brick-maker in which the posture identification system is based on the SNI 9011:2021. This study employed a cross-sectional design with a sample of workers in conventional brick manufacturing. The primary findings of this study were visual ergonomic assessment for posture identification, identification of ergonomic assessment categories with high risk in brick manufacturing, and the prevalence of nagging pain among workers in the brick moulding and drying process. To reduce occupational ergonomic risk, particularly for brick-making workers, ergonomic intervention is required in the form of additional work aids such as chairs. This has been shown to reduce the evaluation score based on SNI 9011: 2021, thereby reducing the occurrence of musculoskeletal disorders

This study focuses on workstations, work postures and employee job satisfaction in the Brawijaya University Library. This study aims to determine the influence of workstations and ergonomics work posture on employee job satisfaction in the library. The research method used quantitative approach. The sampling technique is total sampling with a total of 45 library staffs from 5 department in the library. This study uses multiple linear regression analysis techniques. The results of the study there is influence of workstations and ergonomic work posture to employee job satisfaction with the t test value for both variables are 2.899 > 2.018 and 3.050 > 2.018 respectively. Based on the results of the R2 test that has been carried out above, the results of the R test of this study are the Workstation variable (X1), Work Posture (X2), simultaneously having an effect of 0.674 or 67.4% on the Job Satisfaction variable (Y). This means that the independent variable provides 67.4% of the information needed to predict and explain the variation of the dependent variable. While 32.6% is influenced by other factors or variables that are not examined.

Abstract Background Anesthesiologists are vulnerable to work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) due to sustained repetitive movements and awkward postures. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of WMSDs among anesthesiologists and to evaluate its association with ergonomic risk factors. Methods A convenience sample of 380 Egyptian anesthesiologists were invited to participate in this cross-sectional study through an electronic questionnaire. Data were collected from May to August 2022 and involved questions about participants’ demographic, health, and work-related characteristics; the ergonomic risks and perceived hazards; and the musculoskeletal complaints during the past 12 months and 7 days - using Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire (NMQ). Descriptive, bivariate, and multivariate statistical analyses were used to estimate the prevalence of MSD and identify its determinants in the studied sample. Results A total of 215 anesthesiologists were included in this study, with a 56.8% response rate, 66% males with an average age of 38 (± 0.7) years. 21% were resident physicians, 47% were specialists, and 32% were consultants. The 12-month prevalence of MSD among anesthesiologists was 71.6% (95% CI: 65.6– 77.7%). Multivariate analysis showed that the main determinants of MSD among the studied sample were age of 45-years and older (OR: 3.22, 95% CI: 1.21–8.52, p = 0.018), regular physical exercise (OR: 0.25, 95% CI: 0.10–0.65, p = 0.005), insufficient rest time between procedures (OR: 2.25, 95% CI: 1.15–4.41, p = 0.018), and three or more awkward postures of the trunk (OR: 3.55, 95% CI: 1.43–8.82, p = 0.006). Conclusions The study highlights a high prevalence of WMSDs among Egyptian anesthesiologists, linked to advancing age, lack of regular exercise, insufficient rest between procedures, and frequent awkward postures. Addressing these ergonomic risk factors through targeted workplace interventions is crucial for promoting the overall well-being of anesthesiologists and ensuring the provision of safe anesthesia services.

BACKGROUND: Aircraft maintenance technicians (AMTs) have the most difficulty in terms of total workload criteria working in line maintenance. This is a very important problem for the Aircraft Maintenance Organization. A systematic and scientific approach is required for its solution. OBJECTIVE: This study proposes a new Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) based approach to evaluating the total workloads of AMTs to identify the most challenging AMT tasks in the aircraft maintenance organization. METHODS: A new hybrid MCDM approach is proposed by integrating the Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) and Technique for Order Preference by Similarity (TOPSIS) methods to compare AMTs on the basis of workloads according to license categories. The hybrid method proposed in this study evaluates the total workload under three main titles: mental, physical, and environmental workload. RESULTS: Focusing on AMTs working in line maintenance of an aircraft maintenance organization, this study revealed that the most important workload criteria determined by the DEMATEL method are lower back strain, upper back strain, time pressure, and air temperature criteria. The results of the TOPSIS method showed that the license categories of AMTs are sorted according to the workloads as follows: A, B2, B1, and B1 + B2. The AMTs holding a "Category A" license have fewer workloads than the other categories. CONCLUSION: The findings of the study reveal some measures that might allow authorities to minimize the workload of AMTs. Hence, the traditional batik work environment and tasks impose threats to the wellbeing of the artisans. This study investigates ergonomic issues and the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders in two of Kelantan’s batik industries. The artisans’ natural working postures and the environments of the two places were observed and video recorded. Muscle activations on the wrist of the artisan doing the paint (canting) were imitated. Surface electromyography (sEMG) investigations were performed in the laboratory. A questionnaire survey was also distributed among craftsmen and artisans involved in the batik industry in Kelantan. Results illustrate evidence of the need to educate batik industries on ergonomic risk factors. According to the survey of 33 respondents, the most affected body parts are the waist (60%), back and feet (57%). The walkthroughs and site visits showed that batik making process demands awkward postures which include standing, precision handling of hand tools, trunk bending & rotating and overreaching repetitively between 4 to 8 hours. The Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) index obtained from the assessments ranges from 7-8. It was also shown from the sEMG data that trunk bending affects muscle contraction of the wrist during painting movement. This study focuses on workstations, work postures, and employee job satisfaction in the Brawijaya University Library. This study aims to determine the influence of workstations and ergonomics work posture on employee job satisfaction in the library. The research method used a quantitative approach. The sampling technique is total sampling with a total of 45 library staff from 5 departments in the library. This study uses multiple linear regression analysis techniques. The study results are the influence of workstations and ergonomic work posture on employee job satisfaction, with the t-test values for both variables being 2.899 > 2.018 and 3.050 > 2.018, respectively. Based on the results of the R2 test that has been carried out above, the results of the R test of this study are the Workstation variable (X1), Work Posture (X2), simultaneously having an effect of 0.674 or 67.4% on the Job Satisfaction variable (Y). This means that the independent variable provides 67.4% of the information needed to predict and explain the variation of the dependent variable. Objective: The main objective of this study was to develop and evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of a novel exoskeleton system designed to provide ergonomic assistance to surgeons while preserving or improving the quality of endoscopic sinus and skull base surgical procedures. Methods: To evaluate the functionality and ergonomic characteristics of the device, five experiments were conducted in different and increasingly realistic scenarios: silicone model of the nasal cavity, freshly frozen cadavers and finally in a real surgery. Each volunteer's task was recorded and timed. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration Task Load Index (NASA‐TLX) rating scale was used to estimate the surgeons' workload while performing the tasks. Results: Twenty‐five volunteers took part in the experiments. Volunteers perceived more comfort and less fatigue and pain when using the armrest than when not using the device (3.3, SD 1.75 vs. 5.9 SD 1.49; p = 0.02). Participants found the device intuitive, comfortable, and improving accuracy and stability with endoscope use. Conclusion: A new system that provides ergonomic assistance to surgeons was tested in simulation surgery with acceptable usability. Initial results in terms of pain and fatigue reduction and efficiency were excellent, justifying further research into this technology. Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) stand as a prominent cause of injuries in modern agriculture. Scientific research has highlighted a causal link between MSDs and awkward working postures. Several methods for the evaluation of working postures, and related risks, have been developed such as the Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA). Nevertheless, these methods are generally applied with manual measurements on pictures or videos. As a consequence, their applicability could be scarce, and their effectiveness could be limited. The use of wearable sensors to collect kinetic data could facilitate the use of these methods for risk assessment. Nevertheless, the existing system may not be usable in the agricultural and vine sectors because of its cost, robustness and versatility to the various anthropometric characteristics of workers. The aim of this study was to develop a technology capable of collecting accurate data about uncomfortable postures and repetitive movements typical of vine workers. Specific objectives of the project were the development of a low-cost, robust, and wearable device, which could measure data about wrist angles and workers’ hand positions during possible viticultural operations. Furthermore, the project was meant to test its use to evaluate incongruous postures and repetitive movements of workers’ hand positions during pruning operations in vineyard. The developed sensor had 3-axis accelerometers and a gyroscope, and it could monitor the positions of the hand–wrist–forearm musculoskeletal system when moving. When such a sensor was applied to the study of a real case, such as the pruning of a vines, it permitted the evaluation of a simulated sequence of pruning and the quantification of the levels of risk induced by this type of agricultural activity.

Work-related illnesses and the resulting employee absences can have a major impact on productivity and competitiveness, especially in small and medium-sized enterprises. Particularly in the forging industry, the manual handling of forged parts leads to high physical stress and thus to frequent illnesses of the musculoskeletal system, especially of the hand-arm system. One possibility to counteract this circumstance is the use of ergonomic forging tongs. In the study presented here, the influence of ergonomic forging tongs on the physical stress of forging employees was investigated by simulation and experiment and compared to conventional forging tongs. Within the simulation and the experimental investigation, forging parts and forging tongs were varied. In the simulation, an ergonomics assessment of the forging situation could be evaluated using the Ergonomic Assessment Worksheet. In the experimental study, gripping force measurements and calorie measurements were used to determine the impact of handling the forging tongs on the forging employees. The results show that the use of the new ergonomically optimized forging tongs can lead to a significant physical relief for the forging employees. Optimizing the interaction between individuals and their work environment has become increasingly relevant in enhancing employee well-being and driving the overall success of businesses. The goal of this study is to provide information about how ergonomics affects job performance in the tourism and hospitality industry. The full-time staff employees of Egypt's category (A) travel agencies and five-star hotels were the source of the study's data. The partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) technique of analysis was utilized to explore how ergonomics influences job performance while taking into account the mediating roles of work engagement and talent retention. WarpPLS statistical software version 7.0 was used to analyze the 389 valid replies obtained. The findings revealed that there is a positive relationship between the employees' perception of ergonomics on their job performance, in addition to the positive relationships between the perception of ergonomics and work engagement and talent retention. The work engagement and talent retention were also found to have a positive relationship with job performance. Furthermore, research revealed that work engagement and talent retention act as mediators between ergonomics and job performance. The results of this research significantly advance the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) model theory. The study also offers evidence-based recommendations to organizations in the tourism and hospitality industry, empowering them to establish supportive work environments that enhance the job performance, work engagement, and talent retention. Objective: We introduced learning curves on a detailed step protocol and ergonomic aspect to determine key surgical points in transumbilical single‐port laparoscopic hysterectomy (TSPLH) and to popularize both technical and cognitive methodology on laparoendoscopic single‐site surgery (LESS). Materials and Methods: A retrospective analysis of 87 TSPLH procedures was conducted by a single surgeon in three learning stages. Technical, ergonomic, and cognitive steps were introduced, and surgical outcomes were analyzed. Results: Key production points in TSPLH include developing a clear retroperitoneal space, maintaining appropriate strength and direction with a vaginal manipulator, coagulating the uterine artery, and applying an improved vaginal stump suturing method. Technical factors included instrument domination, hand–eye coordination, and alternating hand functions. Ergonomic techniques focused on shoulder, elbow, arm, wrist, and finger movements, range of motion, muscle power, continuous forces, and flexibility. Improved cognitive factors such as confidence, decision‐making, and communication were also observed. Conclusions: The study aimed to form methodological education on TSPLH and LESS and benefit more surgeons. The detailed production and key ergonomic points will help guide self‐learning and education. Background: Most of the cars are imported as cargo vehicles and then converted into commercial passenger vehicles in Ethiopia. Seats are locally manufactured and installed as part of the conversion to passenger cars, with little regard permitted for the standard specifications required. Objective: A descriptive survey, an ergonomics assessment of passenger seats was conducted, and subjective evaluations of seat comfort were collected. Methods and Materials: For long journeys, there are problems of discomfort, back pain, and human fatigue. Anthropometric measurements of respondents and locally manufactured seats were used to conduct an objective evaluation of seat attributes. Results: The findings revealed that the passengers' body proportions and the seat dimensions differ significantly and are not given any preference during design and fabrication of the seat. IntroductionIpsilateral left-sided-approach laparoscopic transabdominal preperitoneal herniorrhaphy (LA-TAPP) is a procedure used for inguinal hernia. However, conventional laparoscopic instruments may limit the operator's ability to approach certain areas during the procedure. This study aims to assess the feasibility of using an articulating bipolar grasper (ArtiSential®).Material and methodsBetween January 2017 and May 2022, 184 patients with inguinal hernia underwent LA-TAPP and were divided into an articulating group (AG) and a conventional group (CG). The two groups were compared for clinical characteristics, surgical outcomes, and recurrence rates. Learning curve analysis was also performed using the CUSUM score.ResultsThe AG and CG included 72 and 112 patients, respectively. Background: Occupational workers at altitudes are more prone to falls, leading to catastrophic outcomes. Acrophobia, height-related anxiety, and affected executive functions lead to postural instabilities, causing falls. This study investigated the effects of repeated virtual height exposure and training on cognitive processing and height-related anxiety. Methods: Twenty-eight healthy volunteers (age 20.48 ± 1.26 years; mass 69.52 ± 13.78 kg) were recruited and tested in seven virtual environments (VE) [ground (G), 2-story altitude (A1), 2-story edge (E1), 4-story altitude (A2), 4-story edge (E2), 6-story altitude (A3), and 6-story edge (E3)] over three days. At each VE, participants identified occupational hazards present in the VE and completed an Attitude Towards Heights Questionnaire (ATHQ) and a modified State-Trait Anxiety Inventory Questionnaire (mSTAIQ). The number of hazards identified and the ATHQ and mSTAIQ scores were analyzed using a 7 (VE; G, A1, A2, A3, E1, E2, E3) x 3 (DAY; DAY 1, DAY 2, DAY 3) factorial repeated measures analysis of variance. Results: The participants identified the lowest number of hazards at A3 and E3 VEs and on DAY 1 compared to other VEs and DAYs. ATHQ scores were lowest at G, A1, and E1 VEs. Conclusion: Cognitive processing is negatively affected by virtual altitudes, while it improves with short-term training. The features of virtual reality, such as higher involvement, engagement, and reliability, make it a better training tool to be considered in ergonomic settings. The findings of this study will provide insights into cognitive dual-tasking at altitude and its challenges, which will aid in minimizing occupational falls.

Background: Southeast Asia has many people who work in the agriculture sector. Not many stakeholders pay special attention to the health of farmers, even though they are exposed to various types of hazards. One of the most common health complaints among farmers is related to work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs). This study aims to assess the prevalence of WMSDs and factors associated with them among farmers in Southeast Asia. Methods: A literature search on PubMed, ScienceDirect, Scopus, and EBSCO was conducted. Articles were included if they studied ergonomic problems among farmers from 11 countries in the Southeast Asia region and were published during 2015–2022. The Critical Appraisal Skills Program was used to evaluate the quality of the articles. The search process and retrieval process reflected PRISMA's recommendation. Result: There were 14 studies found from 3 countries that had published articles in PubMed and ScienceDirect, including Thailand [8], Indonesia [4], and Malaysia [2]. The prevalence of WMSDs in Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia was 78,31%, 81,27%, and 88,39%, respectively. Common factors associated with WMSDs include age, sex, smoking habits, drinking alcohol habits, working period (years), type of work, awkward position, non-ergonomic equipment, repetitive movements, and lifting heavy loads. Conclusion: The prevalence of WMSDs among farmers in Southeast Asia is considerably high. Effective intervention is essential for reducing the prevalence and protecting workers' health and well-being.

The purpose of this study to find out what forms of static displays (information pointers) are provided by the Bina Darma University Library which are then studied in terms of ergonomics based on the value of comfort, beauty, and usefulness. The type of research used descriptive qualitative research. Determination of informants is determined based on non-probability techniques, namely by using purposive sampling. The informants selected were one person in the library staff, namely the librarian. The data collection technique through interviews which are then processed so that they can find conclusions/verification results. The results obtained are static displays in the Bina Darma University Library, namely Warning Displays, working hours, library labels, instructions for using turnitin, instructions on collections, suggestion box labels, and instructions for opening doors. The static display in the Bina Darma University library is still minimal. This is due to the lack of information related to library rules, organizational structures and so on, making users confused and preferring to ask the librarian

Presence greatly affects user experience and comfort when using virtual reality (VR). Presence is often associated with personal factors such as sex differences and experience using the instrument. There is a research gap related to presence judging by several studies, so it is an interesting topic for further study. This research aims to identify the effect of sex differences and experience using VR on presence. This study used two approaches namely subjective indicators by employing an Igroup Presence Questionnaire (IPQ) and objective indicators in the form of heart rate (HR) and task scores. The study made use of Kruskal-Wallis and MANOVA to determine whether there is an effect of sex differences and experience in using VR on presence. This study found that the sex variable affects a person's presence when playing VR, especially spatial score on the IPQ test, where women have a higher marginal means value than men. Another finding is that the experience of playing VR affects the delta heart rate, with the result that someone with no experience using VR is higher than those who have used VR before.
