Désiré Joseph Mercier ,epistemologija ,objektivizam ,realizam ,Philosophy. Psychology. Religion - Abstract
U ovom radu nudim interpretaciju Mercierove kritike modernog pristupa spoznajnom problemu.

- Abstract
The text presents the phenomenological foundation of the epistemology of interculturality and indicates the importance of phenomenology for social epistemology. Waldenfels’ understanding of phenomenology as philosophy of experience and views of philosophy in the perspective of its impact on social reality is especially emphasized. In this sense, the epistemology of interculturality is presented as an expression of the active thought and the power of philosophy to establish the social meaning of reality, explain relations within networks of lifeworlds and show the real consequences of the spirit on social phenomena. - Abstract
This article, which is written in memory of Graham Barnes, describes his project of »reflexive« or »recursive psychotherapy«, which uses circular logic to turn psychotherapy back onto itself to bite its own tail to investigate its basic premises. With reflexive thinking we cannot step out of theory, but rather into another experience through a comparative epistemology. This entails developing a theory about theories, a language of language, an explanation of someone's experience that is also their experience. On the basis of my personal learning experience with Graham Barnes I describe his understanding of the tragedy in mental health and psychotherapy and his endeavours for the realization of psychotherapy which is not theory centered and which looks at psychopathology as invention rather than as a discovery. Three concepts - justice, love and wisdom - are then presented, which Barnes proposes as the key elements of psychotherapy as a talking activity and a way of persuasion, which can contribute to the development of civilization and democracy. Using the idea of »auditory hallucination« and with a vignette from clinical practice, it is shown how reflexive psychotherapy can reframe psychopathology to prevent pathologization, objectivizing connotations and stigmatizing the social impacts of psychiatric diagnostic categories. It is then shown how Barnes' dialogical and reflexive psychotherapy fits with postmodern constructivist ways of practice and how its principles can help psychotherapists to improve their efficacy and flexibility in their responses to the uniqueness of each client. The principles, which Barnes is proposing, have been confirmed by contemporary process - outcome research about what works in psychotherapy and by common factors theory on which the client-directed approach is based. The article concludes with showing how Barnes since his childhood was always creatively stepping beyond limitations and as a nonconformist stood up against unjust social restrictions. This paper is about the relationship between science and philosophy, or about the naturalization of philosophy. In the first part of the paper, we aim to present Quine’s theoretical framework related to the scientific impact on philosophical discourse and inquiry. In his philosophical writings, Quine emphasized the importance of science, in naturalized or normative epistemology forms. The idea of a more tenable, science–dependent knowledge position, is often seen as central to Quine’s epistemology. Far from any form of cosmic exile, philosophers, according to Quine, adopt the best knowledge available to them at a given time. Something very similar occurs in Descartes’ concept of animal spirits, showing that the use of the best available scientific knowledge at a given moment can easily be found in the French philosopher’s work. Quine’s conception, developed in the field of analytic philosophy, is found in Descartes’ notion of animal spirits, demonstrating the influence of the dominant scientific paradigm on philosophical discourse. Since we consider the Quinean framework very relevant, we have adopted his view as a sort of interpretative paradigm that helps us to better understand a particular problem from the domain of history of philosophy. The second part of the paper presents the notion of animal spirits seen in Descartes’ philosophy as intermediary entities linking mind and body. Once a powerful scientific notion, animal spirits withered away with the advancement of science and were substituted with other scientific paradigms. The notion of animal spirits was seen as Descartes’ critical point and was often neglected in philosophical analysis. In this paper, we advance a hypothesis on how science transformed Descartes’ philosophical discourse by analyzing the curious case of animal spirits, showing at the same time the limitations and shortcomings of this new modus philosophandi., Ovaj rad govori o odnosu znanosti i filozofije ili, preciznije, o naturalizaciji filozofije. U ovom radu iznosimo hipotezu o tome kako je znanost preobrazila Descartesov filozofski diskurs analizirajući neobičan slučaj životinjskih duhova, pokazujući u isto vrijeme ograničenja i nedostatke novog modusa philosophandi.

Autor je posebnu pažnju posvetio karakterizaciji discipline u stanju „teorijskog mira”, odnosno značenjima i implikacijama danas preovlađujućeg teorijskog pluralizma i eklekticizma u međunarodnim odnosima.

Zaradi tega poudarim razvijanje sposobnosti osvobajanja in uporabe lastnih energij s pomočjo narativne dialoške prakse, katere cilj je povečati število možnosti delovanja z ustvarjanjem novih možnih različic lastnega življenja. Namen opisanega ravnanja in refleksije je razumeti njegove epistemološke predpostavke – njegov jezik, njegovo dominantno naracijo – in ga podpreti v izgradnji nove, drugačne, ljubše zgodbe njegovega življenja. With my graduation thesis I want to study and present postmodern ideas and the narrative dialogue approach, its principles, philosophy, and principles of work to all those who, in their daily work, encounter people who, due to various life experiences, have been forced to construct their lives in a way that does not allow them to live satisfying life stories. Through the paradigm of social constructionism, we can see that the various barriers caused by fear, unpleasant and traumatic experiences, social discourses, and metanarratives determine our perceptions of the world and thus determine our construction of the world in which we live. The real world exists for us because we create it through our actions, and it acts on us as we create it, shaping our consciousness according to that world, i.e., it builds us, and we build it. These processes are generated and operate according to the principle of the feedback loop in a continuous autopoietic repetitive creation. Obstacles formed by negative experiences gained in this world influence the channeling of life energy into actions that are possible for us in this world and which in some way offer us a substitute for what we really want. This is why I emphasize developing the ability to liberate and use one's own energies through narrative dialogic practice, which aims to increase the number of possibilities for action by creating new possible versions of one's own life. In my thesis I test my thesis about the important, often decisive influence of environmental factors on how people act. Our personal development and recovery are often interrupted when our wholeness is reduced to a particular dysfunctional sequence of our lives. My work also tests the thesis that a hermeneutic understanding of the epistemology of the other through narrative dialogic practice can help the user in a way that is desired and empowering. It is important that we, as professionals, try to enter the user's world, to co-create with him a safe space of trust, understanding and acceptance, while observing how we observe and how he observes us, and how we observe and how he observes us, etc. The purpose of the described practice and reflection is to understand his epistemological assumptions - his language, his dominant narrative - and to support him in constructing a new, different, more lovable story of his life.

Prispevek obravnava tematizacijo jezika in jezikoslovcev v slovenskih medijih v Italiji. The paper discusses the representation of language, linguistics and linguists in Slovene newspapers published in Italy. The aim of the paper is to show the different epistemological and ideological frames used by journalists and other authors. Media representation of academic topics has always been an important epistemological and ideological meeting point. Academic content reaches a wider audience primarily through various media discourses and, in this sense, newspapers and other media can deeply influence the common perception and representation of different concepts, including of language and linguistics.

The topic of the master thesis is an epistemological study of the covid-19 vaccine denialism. As the topic is about the acceptance of scientific knowledge, a different conceptualization of Gaston Bachelard's epistemological barriers is at the forefront of the research. Therefore, a set of »external epistemological barriers« that most clearly contributed to the vaccine refusal of the participating respondents is presented in relation to the analysis of the semi-structured interviews. In relation to the rejection of the covid-19 vaccination, the trend towards a loss of trust in Western (medical) science and the phenomenon of simultaneous recourse to alternative sources of treatment are also highlighted. Drawing on the reflections of Paul Feyerabend and Vandana Shiva, the importance of incorporating alternative knowledges is emphasized, along with the need to maintain objectivity and verifiability in the incorporation of new knowledge.

Aim of the present research is to verify that there exist differences among epistemological attitudes in students from Netherlands and students from Latvia towards different sources of knowledge, scientific literature and articles, a tutor in an educational institution as a source of knowledge, popular science journals and newspapers, popular science broadcasts, internet resources. Epistemological attitude is a construct of a student's orientation reflecting formal and substantial evaluation aspects of the source of knowledge. The present theoretical construct allows studying psychological and epistemological mechanisms which determine imprinting the source image as a significant one. Students from different faculties of Erasmus University Rotterdam (Netherlands) (N=100; M=21.52 years, SD=3.75 years) participated in the present study held in 2017 in addition to students from different higher education institutions of Daugavpils city (Latvia) (N=102; M=23.08 years, SD=5.87 years). The results of the study showed that there is a statistically significant difference between the epistemological attitude of the students of Rotterdam Erasmus University and various higher education institutions of Daugavpils city concerning the assessment of all sources, formally and in content, in features (0.05 > p < 0.001) and in the content categories (0.05 > p < 0.001). It has been found that each source of knowledge is evaluated as a significant one, but the mechanisms that make up the importance differ among students in the Netherlands and Latvia. - Abstract
In this paper, I will consider Wittgenstein’s understanding of the concepts of knowledge and certainty and the need to differentiate these concepts in order to obtain a clearer picture about the nature and structure of human cognition. In his text On Certainty (Über Gewißheit), Wittgenstein analyses Moore’s characterization of the I Know attitude and points out to contradictions arising from his understanding of the previously stated. In this example, Wittgenstein shows that the question of the reliability of knowledge is incomprehensible without the question of the connection between linguistic and epistemic games which should always be contextually observed and articulated. Only in this way is it possible to overcome epistemological scepticism and relativism and open the question about the objectivity of knowledge. In this paper, I want to analyse the above stated assumptions that made Wittgenstein’s project the basis for a different understanding of epistemological topics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

LITERARY recreations , *TECHNOLOGICAL innovations , *JOURNALISM , *JOURNALISTIC ethics - Abstract
The article stems from discussions on subjugating journalism to the capitalist imperative of 'rationalisation' of the labour process through technological innovations. A continuation of these tendencies is the gradual introduction of algorithms with the aim to supplement, enhance or replace journalistic work with technology. The apotheosis of this process is automated journalism, although it primarily supplements the established news production. Accompanying controversies raise challenging questions about what and how we know via journalism and how that knowledge is substantiated. In automated journalism, the construction of 'objective' facts and its language game depend not only on the combination of technology and human activity, but also on the separation of technological 'objectivity' and human subjectivity. The process of datafication of the facticity draws from the algorithmic judgment concentrated in the principle of legitimation through an instant and authoritative performance. In this respect, the historical principles of 'objective' journalism are being transformed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

THEORY of knowledge , *HALLUCINATIONS , *SOCIAL constructionism , *MENTAL illness - Abstract
This review article focuses on the debate which is once again resurfacing in western culture: is hearing voices (»auditory verbal hallucinations« (AVH) in psychiatric vocabulary) a symptom of mental disorder or valuable resource? What is the appropriate reaction to voice hearers and their social context: endeavours to silence the voices with medication or acceptance and their utilization for recovery? The author is contributing to this debate from the viewpoint of cybernetic or constructivist epistemology as it was defined by Gregory Bateson (1904-1980). After a short summary of the history of voice hearing the epistemological problems with the definition of AVH are presented. With neuroscientific discoveries and epidemiological data it is shown that we are all potential voice hearers. Then the neurophenomenological project is presented in a more detailed way, which could connect first- and third-person research of AVHs. Additionally this is explained with the presentation of possibilities for the coexistence of objectivist nomothetic, hermeneutic constructivist and transformative epistemology. The article concludes with a consideration of not only how this coexistence could be helpful for a better quality of response to voice hearers, but also in a broader sense for the development of science and correction of pathologies of epistemology which are threatening ourselves, our close relatives, society and indeed the whole ecology of our planet.
