The expression "échec victorieux" is a combination of the noun échec and the epithet victorieux. While the first term refers to a negative event, the second expresses success. From this semantic antinomy, it is clear that the expression "victorious failure" alludes to the hero's failure and its dual semantics in Chaka's drama. While failure is often seen as inevitable, in this play it appears as the driving force behind victory, hence its oxymoronic nature. By unexpectedly bringing together the contradictory terms "failure" and "victory" in Chaka, we aim to show that the failure of the Djibrilian hero, perceptible in the speeches and actions that lead to his death, is a confluence of opposites. Chaka's tragic end, far more than a defeat, is a foundation for victory. The meaning of Chaka's victory, which Djibril Tamsir Niane places in the pantheon of immortal heroes, must therefore be situated in the perspective of the project, that is to say, in the vision of the future. In any case, this failure must be seen as a victory for dignity and a viaticum that encourages us to move forward for future generations. This is what this work has brought to light, using materialist dialectics as a methodological approach. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
