Abstract

While the word " out " refers commonly to the embalmer, some clues on the walls of Old Kingdom tombs would tend to prove that the duty of an out is wider than what it seems. Indeed, the study of funeral procession and offerings scenes, as well as the tomb's owner titles, suggests that the out's duty goes beyond the scope of the mummification and includes all the process of the deceased's ritualization.; Alors que le terme " out " désigne couramment l'embaumeur, certains indices trouvés sur les parois des tombes de l'Ancien Empire tendent à montrer que la charge du out est plus vaste qu'il n'y paraît. En effet, l'étude des scènes de procession funéraire et de présentation des offrandes, ainsi que de la titulature des propriétaires des tombes suggère que la fonction du out dépasse le cadre de la momification pour englober tout le processus de ritualisation du défunt.

Abstract

The term "license" is variously used in law and government with different shades of meaning. Many excise taxes are levied in connection with the licensing of some trade, occupation, and use or possession of property; but if they are an important source of general revenue rather than simply a means of defraying the expense of administering the particular licensing regulation, they are more usually referred to as license taxes. A license in the sense of a permit does not necessarily involve the idea of a fee and may be issued gratuitously. These and other aspects that are pertinent to the licensing power of the state is the import of this thesis. Herein, also, persons who are prospective candidates for any one of the occupations included will find the requirements which they must fulfill in order to qualify for such practice in New Mexico.
