Raziskovalni problem diplomske naloge obsega temeljito obravnavanje umetniškega obdobja fauvizma in vodilnega umetnika te usmeritve, Henrija Matissa. Naloga z umetnostnozgodovinsko obravnavo zajema ključna vprašanja o izvoru fauvizma, vplivih izbranih postimpresionističnih umetnikov in vzporednosti z eskpresionizmom. The research questions of my diploma thesis include a thorough understanding of the artistic period of fauvism and the leading artist of this artistic period, Henri Matisse. From the perspective of art history, the thesis covers key questions about the origins of fauvism, the influence of selected post-impressionistic artists and parallels between expressionism and fauvism. The thesis also discusses the nature and characteristics of fauvism, explored through the key works of this period. In addition to theoretical research, the diploma thesis also includes a practical artistic component, in which I explore my own painting in two parts, connecting and comparing them with each other and with discussed paintings of Henri Matisse. Though I have incorporated other characteristics of fauvist painting in the analysis and practical part of my thesis, my primary focus was on using color in a freer, more intuitive and non-representational manner, treating color as an independent element, and on embodying and conveying emotion through color in relation to my individual artistic expression. I chose this topic because I often felt a connection with the period of fauvism during my artistic journey and I wanted to deepen my knowledge and understanding of fauvist art. By exploring and studying fauvism, I aimed to develop my own painting further.
