SCHOOL size ,SOCIAL contact ,SCHOOL principals ,COMMUNICATION in management ,SOCIAL interaction - Abstract
COVID-19 pandemic forced schools to manage the risk of infection, which is caused by social interaction, particularly in school events. Thus, the principals had to face the dilemma between avoiding the risk and favoring educational opportunity brought by school events which produce close interpersonal contact. The aim of present study is to reveal school principals' risk management of school events under such dilemma. Five school principals participated in the semi-structured interview and were asked how school events were administrated from 2020 onwards, including the cases in which the events were cancelled. The obtained data was analyzed through SCAT (Otani, 2008). As a result, 325 concepts/theme and 124 theoretical descriptions were obtained. The main findings were as follows: the policy focused on maintaining education opportunities was found to be the same for each participant, however, the actual risk-taking policies differed depending on each interviewee and activity. On risk management, the factors such as the thought of children and parents or school size affected. In particular, the school trip was the most difficult activity to manage. Moreover, in case of an out-of-prefecture trip, it was considered that a certain policy and scheme such as involving students education to risk management and close communication in/out of schools would make it possible. Through risk management, results on positive/negative outcomes, such as the improvement of school systems or the loss of social relationships, were obtained. Through consideration of these findings, a future direction of risk management in schools was discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aims to provide young Muslims who live in the East with Qur'anic educational principles and ethical values. To achieve the goals of this research, the researcher has used the descriptive curriculum (content analysis) by means of induction style through studying the Qur'anic dialogues: the Exchange dialogue and the Speech dialogue, and extracting Qur'anic significances, spiritual principles, educational lessons, and ethical values; and classifying them into the following six categories: spiritual, ethical, social, knowledge, educational, and economical. Besides, the Qur'anic dialogues have been classified into seven categories: the first category deals with knowledge, the second category discusses resurrection; the third category includes the ethical values versus the materialistic values; while the fourth category highlights the moral principles and the social bases coming from the Divine guidance within the Qur'anic dialogue text; the fifth category includes the dialogues of Resurrection Day; while the sixth category includes the speechdialogues directed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The study has come up with several results that may provide young Muslims with several benefits: 1. acquisition of ample Qur'anic guidance and knowledge. 2. assimilation of Islamic manners and ethical principles and values extracted from the Holy Qur'an. 3. sufficient Qur'anic methods for social adaptation in a multi cultured society without losing the religion principles. 4. stressing communication system skills that enable them to dialogue Muslims and nonMuslims in an effective cordial manner. 5. moral lessons that provide them with immunity against passive cultural influences, 6. and the ability to refute the false assumptions against Islamic teachings. This study sheds light on the ethical and social difficulties young Muslims face in the West. It aims to help Young Muslims fit socially without sacrificing the principles of their religion, to acquire Qur’anic teachings and guidance, and assimilate Islamic principles and moral values that help them lead a righteous life. It attempts to achieve that through exposing young Muslims to the Qur’anic educational significances and lessons as well as the moral values and Islamic principles derived from two types of Qur’anic dialogue: the exchange dialogue and the speech dialogue. It seeks to develop a plan that enhances acquisition of ample Qur’anic knowledge and guidance, assimilation of Qur’anic ethical conducts, Islamic codes and social morals. It also seeks to provide Young Muslims with Qur’anic teachings that strengthen their faith and immunity against non-Muslim passive social influences. As well, it helps Young Muslims refute the false claims about Islam. Moreover, this study recommends educationalists to help young Muslims eliminate indifference toward their religion, foster trust in themselves toward their Islamic identity and transfer this study into educational programs, and conduct further study from another perspective. Finally, this study concludes the abolition of young Muslims' ignorance of their religion and fostering the pure Islamic doctrine in their hearts . [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
This paper describes an assessment of the Impact of weather changes and human visitation on behavior and activity level of Humboldt penguin (Spheniscus humboldti) in captivity. The study is based on activity time-budgets from a flock of over 20 birds at Fota Wildlife Park, Cork, Ireland, gathered during daytime observations over a six month period. The results show that penguins spent most of the daytime in stationary, terrestrial locomotion, preening and swimming modes of behavior, and swimming activity increased on rainy days. Peak activity took place from 16:00 to 17:00 hours, especially before and after feeding. The behavior of penguins was significantly affected by the number of visitors, and locomotion, preening, feeding and attention to visitors were positively correlated with the number of visitors. There is further interaction with visitation levels under different weather conditions. Visitors offer another positive environmental enrichment for this group of penguins and in turn, these penguins at Fota Wildlife Park are considered to have a high educational potential. Some suggestions about captive management and future research are also proposed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Snoezelen education is considered effective for the development of psychological stability in children with developmental disabilities enrolled in elementary and junior high schools, and those with school refusals with unstable emotions. In this study, we examine the practice in special needs resource room using Snoezelen for a child with social anxiety disabilities who aiming at the adaptation to the group. The lessons were carried out using fluorescent and phosphorescent materials in the corner of the resource room. As a result, it was suggested that Snoezelen lessons change the role according to the needs of the target children and have educational significance for adaptation to the group because it promotes the formation of human relations and psychological stability. Most of the modern technological applications we use in our daily life originate from the progress of Nanoscience–Nanotechnology (NST). The projection, showing the great impact that these advances are going to have on society, exhorts science education researchers to incorporate the modern field into educational contexts. Among the several issues that have to be dealt with, NST’s educational significance comes to the fore. This pilot study aims to examine whether both nano-trained primary school teachers and nano-trained students acknowledge the need for the inclusion of the NST content to school contexts. Fourteen primary school teachers and ten students, after their participation in an NST training course, were interviewed in order to provide their justifications. The results show that the vast majority of the participants acknowledge the educational significance of NST. The main arguments were associated with career possibilities, the relevance of the content to everyday life, and the need for nanoliteracy attainment. The results of this study can be used by NST education researchers in order to formulate a NST content structure for primary school nanoeducation.

Science education frequently portrays science as a monolithic and experimental endeavour. Here, we argue that to counteract this simplistic conception of science, a reintroduction of the historically oriented sciences is in order. To this end, we analyse the discipline of palaeontology and its educational relevance. Using Kuhn’s disciplinary matrix, we deconstruct palaeontology into elements for educational purposes, and subsequently examine how these elements can be utilised to enrich contemporary science curricula. We conclude by discussing how including palaeontology in science education encourages diversity, pluralism, and ultimately, public interest in science.

Social validity is focused on analyzing how goals, procedures, and outcomes associated to an intervention program benefit target individuals, and whether the potential of the program's objectives itself is in turn achieved, including expectation assessment, behavioral changes, opportunities and development of new skills, abilities and strategies. In this sense, the instrumentation of the Ecological Risk/Resilience Model proves to be of great importance, particularly in special education programs focused on reducing risk factors and encouraging resilient behaviors in students with special educational needs (SEN), their parents and teachers. The purpose of this study was to validate -through parents- the acceptability, educational significance and social importance of special education intervention programs based on the above mentioned model. The Social Validity of Special Education Programs Questionnaire was completed by 45 mothers, 10 fathers, and 5 grandfathers of 30 elementary school children identified as having SEN. The main findings showed that fathers noticed increased changes of resilient behaviors in students both at school and at home. Statistically significant differences in some features were found between male and female participants and in every dimension (i.e., acceptability, educational significance and social importance) between participants from both schools. Differences between participants regarding the type of SEN addressed by the programs were not found, which emphasizes the educational relevance of programs developed under this model.

, The purposes of this study were: 1) to examine the students’ recognition for writing a graduation thesis, and its relation to self-esteem; and 2) to compare the differences in students’ and teachers’ thinking about writing a graduation thesis. The results showed that students recognized that writing a graduation thesis was serious, and the stress and positive recognition for it were related to self-esteem. Moreover, many students found writing a graduation thesis to be a positive experience. Additionally, they enjoyed studying itself and acquisition of new knowledge, and learned to communicate with other individuals. Regarding teachers, they expected the students to have sincere attitude toward their study and not to give up. The following was also suggested: that both students and teachers realized that writing a graduation thesis resulted in feelings of accomplishment and self-growth. And so, it is considered that it is the educational significance in writing a graduation thesis.

In this sense, the instrumentation of the Ecological Risk/Resilience Model proves to be of great importance, particularly in special education programs focused on reducing risk factors and encouraging resilient behaviors in students with special educational needs (SEN), their parents and teachers. The purpose of this study was to validate –through parents- the acceptability, educational significance and social importance of special education intervention programs based on the above mentioned model.

|In this study, our students were asked to do self-evaluations and evaluations of our lectures, and these evaluations were analyzed to determine if there was an educational significance in administrating these questionnaires. This investigation was conducted by questioning 67 third year nursing students of the Hiroshima Prefectural College of Health and Welfare, while they were studying nursing care and advanced nursing courses. They were asked to write their opinions freely and fill out the questionnaires, which were based on the Minute Paper Questionnaire from Tokai University. As a result, it was noted that the students became able to reflect on their behavior, to identify their own study objectives, and, also, to improve communication with the lecturers. Furthermore, it is suggested that the students should have a better chance to look at themselves objectively, and that they should be given clear and concrete out lines of the courses.,
