Geraldo Pereira comes up as an important name in the history of Brazilian Popular Music and of Samba for being considered the most brilliant upholder of syncopated rhythm. However, there are few studies about his work, composed of 77 samba songs, registered along 16 years of career (1939-1955). The objective of this article is to analyze the lyric love production of the composer from Minas Gerais State, aiming to reflect, in 5 of his lyrics, about love disagreements motivated by uncompromising relationships between male and fame genders, dwelt in Samba world, as they happened in the historical context of his production, specially.
