- Abstract
Purpose: This study aims to propose an architecture and presents the implementation of a unified chatbot that faces the challenges of heterogeneous communication channels. This approach enables the interaction with the chatbot to be carried out over multiple communication media on a single platform. Design/methodology/approach: The chatbot was embedded in a unified communications framework. Furthermore, it has been developed and tested using the information and communications technology (ICT)Core platform. Three test scenarios have been considered in the context of a digital marketing company, which include the use of multiple channels such as text, audio and e-mail. Usability and empirical tests were performed to collect both qualitative and quantitative data. Findings: The results indicate that the proposed model improves the completion rate and enables the chatbot to interact with the customer by capturing information over multiple channels. The findings also reveal that digital marketing organizations can use a unified chatbot in their marketing campaigns, which contributes to improving the quality of customer interaction, message personalization and continuous learning throughout the process. Originality/value: While the use of a chatbot is a relatively common practice among companies, its integration into unified communications networks is an emerging topic. Proposals for integration into a unified communication channel have mainly focused on access to the same account and conversations from multiple devices or access platforms. This approach, while useful, does not allow for the integration of information from multiple sources. Alternatively, an integrated architecture is suggested in which a chatbot obtains knowledge from multiple sources and uses it to increase the quality of communication with the customer. A digital information explosion has transformed cities' residential and educational markets in ways that are still being uncovered. Although urban stratification scholars have increasingly scrutinised whether emerging digital platforms disrupt or reproduce longstanding segregation patterns, direct links between one theoretically important form of digital information – school quality data – and neighbourhood and school segregation are rarely drawn. To clarify these dynamics, we leverage an exogenous digital information shock, in which the Los Angeles Times ' website revealed measures of a particularly important school quality proxy – schools' value-added effectiveness – for nearly all elementary schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Results suggest that although the information shock had no detectable effects on residential sorting or neighbourhood racial segregation, it did exert modest effects on school sorting – particularly for Latino and Asian students – albeit not in ways that materially diminished school racial segregation because the racial compositions of high- and low-value-added schools were broadly similar both before and after the information shock. We conclude that the urban stratification implications of digital information may be more nuanced than often appreciated, with effects operating through mechanisms beyond residential segregation and reflecting racial heterogeneity in constraints and preferences vis-à-vis specific types of information. - Abstract
The latest information technologies aimed at accelerating the pace of innovation in the methodology of regulatory and legal research and criminal justice are priority elements of improving the quality of implementation of cyberspace components in the activities of law enforcement agencies in Ukraine and worldwide. The globalisation of the use of innovative technological processes, skills and methods ‒ and, most importantly, the increased implementation of organisational and legal aspects of electronic document management in the work of law enforcement agencies ‒ contributes to the manifestation of possible challenges and obstacles that reorganise the activities of competent authorities and controlled institutions. This research explores the use of innovative technologies in criminal procedural law, making a significant contribution to understanding how innovations can change the approach to justice and promote the development of a more fair and efficient judicial process in the future. The increasing complexity of criminal scenarios demands innovative approaches, upon which the effectiveness of justice and the protection of human rights depend. The article provides justification for modern technological solutions such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, biometric technologies, and the use of big data, and their potential in the criminal process. Emphasis is placed on the opportunities to improve access to justice, accelerate judicial procedures, and enhance trust in the judicial system. Potential risks and challenges accompanying the implementation of innovative technologies in the criminal procedural sphere, including issues of data confidentiality and the possibility of technology misuse, are also addressed. Through in-depth analysis, the research aims to highlight prospects for further development in the use of innovative technologies in the field of criminal procedural law and to deepen understanding of their impact on contemporary legal practice. The purpose of the research is to make a dialectical and identification definition of innovative technologies in criminal procedural law. Comprehensive knowledge of the factors that determine the development of regulatory restrictions on the implementation and monitoring of the practice of introducing artificial intelligence in the national jurisdiction (criminal justice) and other sovereign political and territorial organisations of society. Identification of the most essential features and peculiarities of the internal structure of the interactive information environment (virtual space), which combines communication systems with electronic forms of digital data transmission to improve integration links between law enforcement agencies and executive structures of public administration. Formulation of conclusions and proposals based on the results of the research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study examines the role of information sources in the ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) Jewish community's coping with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in Israel by comparing their use of digital versus traditional information platforms. The study examined coping with COVID-19, considering explanatory variables such as Community Sense of Coherence (C-SOC), Internet usage, and other demographic variables. Using an online survey, 212 participants responded who identified as ultra-Orthodox and had access to the Internet, of which 47.2% were women and 52.8% were men, with a mean age of 37.66 (SD = 12.60). Findings showed that the emotional and cognitive coping levels of members of ultra-Orthodox society with COVID-19 utilizing digital information sources were significantly better than those among community members using traditional information sources. Furthermore, the more the Internet was used for information or social needs, the more digital information sources helped community members cope with the crisis from an emotional and cognitive viewpoint. Conversely, the more participants felt that ultra-Orthodox society is a significant factor that helps them face life's challenges (C-SOC), the better they coped with the pandemic utilizing traditional information sources. This study presents a novel, previously unstudied approach to ultra-Orthodox society's coping methods with a worldwide crisis, whether through digital or traditional information sources. The study's findings emphasize the need to make reliable and timely digital information accessible to this community, especially during a crisis, while respecting the culture and values of ultra-Orthodox society. AbstractOnline social capital is a determinant of success for net-entrepreneurs. However, there has been limited research on how net-entrepreneurs acquire online social capital through social media. Therefore, this study aims to explore whether different digital behaviors of net-entrepreneurs lead to differences in acquiring online social capital. We conducted empirical tests using partial least square structural equation method and fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) based on survey data from 306 Chinese agricultural net-entrepreneurs. The results revealed that digital business card (profile and state self-disclosure) significantly influences bridging online social capital (BRSC) and bonding online social capital (BOSC). Certain subcomponents of digital information and digital communication serve as significant predictors of online social capital. Furthermore, the acquisition of BRSC has three distinct configurational conditions, while BOSC has four. This study provides valuable insights for net-entrepreneurs on utilizing different digital behaviors to acquire online social capital effectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Children frequently use Google to answer their questions, yet what they think about Google's capacity and limitations is unclear. This study explores children's beliefs about Google's capacity to answer questions. American children ages 9 and 10 (n = 44; 18 boys and 26 girls) viewed factual questions directed towards Google or a person. After viewing each question, they reported their confidence in the informant's accuracy, the time it would take the informant to obtain the answer and how the informant would obtain the answer. Finally, they generated questions that the internet would be capable or incapable of answering. Children believed Google would be more accurate and faster than a person at answering questions. Children consistently generated appropriate questions that the internet would be good at answering, but they sometimes struggled to generate questions that the internet would not be good at answering. Implications for children's learning are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ELECTRONIC evidence ,FAIR use (Copyright) ,DIGITAL technology ,CRIMINAL evidence ,DOCUMENTARY evidence - Abstract
It is emphasized that electronic evidence has become indispensable for criminal investigations and trials around the world. The importance of legal regulation of the criminal procedural form of digital technologies is emphasized. The improper nature of such regulation entails certain legal consequences, including the recognition of electronic evidence as improper or inadmissible. The experience of some foreign countries in the field of recognition and use of electronic evidence (the USA, Great Britain, the People's Republic of China and the countries of the European Union) is analyzed. It has been proven that each state builds its own way and approach to incorporating such evidence into its legal systems depending on legal traditions, technological infrastructure and privacy considerations. From the analysis of procedural codes, it was noted that procedural science develops a theory of electronic evidence according to the industry principle. It is emphasized that they are based on common digital technologies, therefore this provides an opportunity to develop uniform cross-industry rules for the use of electronic evidence in any process. It was determined that in the Anglo-Saxon legal system there is no clear division of evidence into types. Evidence law is based on typical problem situations. The US legislation, which regulates the use of electronic evidence in the criminal process, is analyzed. It is noted that the condition for their acceptance is its authenticity and relevance to the case. It is noted that in the UK, all electronic evidence is subject to the same rules and laws that apply to documentary evidence. The legislation of the European Union, which regulates electronic evidence and allows to strengthen cooperation between member states in the field of using electronic evidence, is analyzed. It is emphasized that as states continue to adapt to the age of digital technologies, the development of a reliable legal framework and international cooperation will be essential to ensure the effective and fair use of electronic evidence in the pursuit of justice. The rapid evolution of digital technology has led to a transformative era, significantly impact the global economy and daily lives. This study focuses on understanding the factors influence hotel decision-making through digital platforms in South Asia. Also, employed the Optimum Stimulation Level (OSL) theory, the research explores the relationship between awareness, brand, digital information, price, variety and hotel decision-making. Additionally, the inferential statistics study was conducted quantitatively, using data collected from 1431 hotel visitors in the top cities of South Asia through a cross-sectional design. Thus, PLS-SEM were utilised in the study to analyse the hypothesis. Hence, the results indicate significant positive relationships between awareness, brand, digital information, price, variety and hotel decision-making. However, the brand does not moderate the relationship between price and hotel decision-making. These findings offer constructive understandings for industry and academia stakeholders, emphasising the importance of digital platforms in shaping consumer behaviour and hotel selection in South Asia’s hospitality industry.

ADVENTURE tourism ,HERITAGE tourism ,EVENT tourism ,DIGITAL technology ,PLACE marketing - Abstract
Digital information plays a crucial role in shaping tourists' expectations and impressions of potential destinations and activities. This study explores how perceptions of digital information vary across different tourism experience types (adventure, leisure, cultural) and examines the complex interactions between digital information perception and tourism engagement. A survey was conducted among tourists actively participating in various tourism types to collect data on their digital information consumption habits and their influence on their overall perceptions. The findings reveal that leisure and adventure tourists demonstrate a stronger initial reliance on digital information compared to cultural tourists. However, all tourism types exhibit negative interaction effects, suggesting diminishing returns of digital information as engagement increases. Specifically, leisure and adventure tourism show stronger positive main effects on digital information perception compared to cultural tourism. Interestingly, leisure and adventure tourism also display more pronounced negative interaction effects than cultural tourism. These insights suggest that destination marketers should employ nuanced, personalized strategies catered to specific tourism types, considering the varying levels of digital information reliance and the changing needs of tourists as their engagement progresses. For leisure and adventure tourism, this may involve front-loading comprehensive digital information, while cultural tourism may benefit from a more consistent information flow throughout the experience. These tailored approaches could enhance destination brand affinity and improve the overall tourist experience across different tourism segments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The digital economy, underpinned by fundamental digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, cloud computing, and big data, facilitates business model innovation, thereby enabling firms to achieve distinctive competitive advantages. While the digital economy creates more development opportunities for businesses, it also subjects them to higher levels of competitive threats. Therefore, business model innovation is both a proactive choice to perceive and exploit external opportunities and a reactive adaptation to identify and mitigate external threats. The digital economy drives business model innovation through digital information, internet platforms, digital technologies, and new business models and formats. As such, firms should utilize data resources innovatively to update their value logic, build digital ecosystems based on internet platforms, enhance digital technology integration to enable agile responses, and gain insights into emerging economic formats to promote cross-industry integration and innovation. Purpose – The academic library’s physical capacity and its service obligations to local users structured the traditional print collection. Largely freed of these constraints, the digital collection manager enjoys unprecedented freedoms but now contends with a collection susceptible to resource sprawl and scope ambiguity. This exploratory study aims to consider the possibility that intra-field social processes help to structure and routinize digital collection practice. Design/methodology/approach – Lacking the constraints to which print collections are subject, electronic resource and digital library collections are more likely to reflect idiosyncratic institutional interests and therefore, to demonstrate significant variation. Evidence of homogeneity may suggest the influence of heretofore underexplored social structures. To determine the extent of such homogeneity, the author performed exploratory/descriptive content analyses on ten electronic resource collection development policies and six digital library collection development policies. Findings – The data reveal among both the electronic resource and digital library collection policies significant uniformity. Content analyses demonstrate consistent themes (e.g. media, audience, selection priorities, etc.) and rhetoric. These findings lend support to the study’s central hypothesis regarding latent social structures. Analyses also reveal a set of unanticipated constraints unique to digital collection management. Originality/value – Despite the breadth and maturity of literature addressing the Digital Turn in academic librarianship, relatively little attention has been paid to the social dimensions of collection management. This work represents an important corrective and suggests new theoretical approaches to the study of digital collection practice.

The study analyzes the level of digital information literacy skills (DILS) of university teachers of Peshawar and its relationship with their certain personal and academic variables. Using survey method of research, a research instrument based on similar studies was administered to the university teachers working in the public sector universities of Peshawar for collecting the data. Total population of this study was comprised of 1678 faculty members in all six public sector universities situated in Peshawar, Pakistan. The research instrument was sent to a sample of 500 faculty members with a representation of 30% from each university. The researchers received back 340 usable questionnaires with 68% response rate. Results indicated that faculty members were comfortable with 13 DILS. They showed least comfort in the use of digital journals, digital books, listserv and discussion groups. The study found that participants were well acquainted in computer usage; however, they were not well versed in searching literature of their choice. Moreover, the study observed significant differences in faculty members’ specialty, educational qualification (degree), their proficiency in English, and the accessibility to computers or laptops at their homes. Similarly, significant difference was also found keeping in view respondents’ sex and societal background. The study concluded that university teachers, in general, lack DILS. The available literature indicates that only a few studies on such kind of topics have been conducted in Pakistan and elsewhere. However, no study till date has examined DILS of teachers of public sector universities in Peshawar, Pakistan. Being a pioneering study, It will help in promoting and organizing digital information literacy programs for faculty members and improve their DILS.

Abstract Background In recent years, the Web has become a source of medical information for patients, even though the information available online may be incorrect or qualitatively inadequate. Younger generations, immersed in a digital environment since a very tender age, are more likely to get informed online. This study aims to understand the relevance of online information for prospective orthodontic patients and to investigate the effects of digital research on patients’ decision-making process, and it also aims to investigate potential generational differences between digital natives and digital immigrants. Materials and methods An anonymous questionnaire was developed to investigate patients’ orthodontic-themed Web searches as well as the effects digital material had on their decision-making process. Before submitting the newly designed survey to patients, it was validated in a pilot study. Univariate analysis was applied to analyze the relationship between the demographic characteristics of respondents and their answers on the use of digital research for the decision-making process. Results 64.6% of the study population searched the Web for orthodontic information prior to their visit. Google was the most used platform regardless of patients’ age. The perceived reliability of online sources varied significantly with age. Men displayed more trusting behavior towards their doctor than women. Prospective patients’ satisfaction with affected patients’ decision-making processes, and the perceived reliability of online sources of information had repercussions on the doctor-patient relationship. Conclusions Orthodontists should be aware that the majority of patients use the Internet as a source for orthodontic information, and that patients who are digital immigrants are more prone to trust the information found online. Patients who perceive the information found on the Web as either useful or reliable don’t easily discard it, even if it is inconsistent with the orthodontist’s opinion.

In recent years, augmented reality (AR) technology has grown, and its use has become widespread among smartphone users. People are consuming more and more digital information from various sources and in different presentation modes. Therefore, in this study, we investigate the extent to which different presentation modes relate to the level of trust in information, while considering demographic variables, as well as personality traits and thinking styles. The participants in our experiments were asked to indicate whether certain statements that were presented in various presentation methods (image + text, image + audio, AR + text, AR + audio) were true or false. The results indicate that users are more likely to trust statements that are accompanied by AR than statements that are accompanied by a static image. In addition, younger participants have greater trust in audio-presented information than text-presented information. As AR is expected to grow considerably in popularity in the next few years, users should be cautious of the potential impact on their trust in digital information while using AR.

The study aimed to investigate the influence of demographic characteristics, Internet use, computer knowledge and technology self-efficacy on personal digital information management (PIM) activities – information finding, information keeping, information organising and information re-finding. The design of the study was quantitative and a survey method was used to get the objectives of the study. Three independent institutes of art and design – the Institute of Art and Culture, the National College of Arts and Design and the Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design – were chosen as the research setting of the study. The population of the study was an academic community of three art and design institutes. The questionnaire was distributed to faculty and students of respective institutes and 229 responses were received after follow-up. The findings of the study indicated that both demographic characteristics and technology-related factors influenced the arts and design academic community's PIM activities. However, the second set of variables – Internet use, computer knowledge and technology self-efficacy influenced more than demographic variables on PIM activities. Academic role, university and technology self-efficacy appeared significant predictors of all PIM activities. The findings might be helpful for arts and design institutes librarians to make strategies to improve academic community's personal information management skills. In arts and design institutes, better efficiency in faculty and students' PIM could be achieved if PIM literacy programmes are designed paying attention to differentials in demographic factors and technology-related factors, as revealed in this study. Amid urban digital transformation, products and services have undergone extensive digitization, yielding convenience and benefits for residents. However, this rapid change has also posed challenges to individuals' online rights. Protecting these rights is not only legally essential but also crucial for nurturing digital economic growth. This investigation delves into the impact of education on people's inclination to uphold their online rights. It also explores the intermediary role of two key factors: the ability to acquire digital information and the skill to effectively utilize such information. The findings reveal three essential points: Firstly, education both have directly and indirectly positive influence on citizens' Internet rights protection willingness. Secondly, digital information acquisition ability and digital information utilization ability play a parallel intermediary role in education and Internet rights protection willingness. Thirdly, in comparison to the ability to utilize digital information, education has a more pronounced impact on the ability to acquire digital information. This study underscores the necessity for governmental bodies to assign significant importance to enhancing citizens' competence in both acquisition and utilization digital information. Such efforts are pivotal in bolstering individuals' determination to safeguard their Internet rights effectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: In recent years, the Web has become a source of medical information for patients, even though the information available online may be incorrect or qualitatively inadequate. Younger generations, immersed in a digital environment since a very tender age, are more likely to get informed online. This study aims to understand the relevance of online information for prospective orthodontic patients and to investigate the effects of digital research on patients' decision-making process, and it also aims to investigate potential generational differences between digital natives and digital immigrants. Materials and methods: An anonymous questionnaire was developed to investigate patients' orthodontic-themed Web searches as well as the effects digital material had on their decision-making process. Before submitting the newly designed survey to patients, it was validated in a pilot study. Univariate analysis was applied to analyze the relationship between the demographic characteristics of respondents and their answers on the use of digital research for the decision-making process. Results: 64.6% of the study population searched the Web for orthodontic information prior to their visit. Google was the most used platform regardless of patients' age. The perceived reliability of online sources varied significantly with age. Men displayed more trusting behavior towards their doctor than women. Prospective patients' satisfaction with affected patients' decision-making processes, and the perceived reliability of online sources of information had repercussions on the doctor-patient relationship. Conclusions: Orthodontists should be aware that the majority of patients use the Internet as a source for orthodontic information, and that patients who are digital immigrants are more prone to trust the information found online. Patients who perceive the information found on the Web as either useful or reliable don't easily discard it, even if it is inconsistent with the orthodontist's opinion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
In this article, based on the analysis of scientific publications, the norms of the current legislation, the authors investigate the actual problems of using digital information obtained during counterintelligence and investigative activities in the criminal process. The norms of legislation in the field of ensuring state security and the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine regarding the possible use of digital information as evidence in court proceedings are analyzed. Scientific developments and international experience regarding the use of counterintelligence and investigative activity materials in digital form as evidence in criminal proceedings in the context of their admissibility are considered. The authors prove that the vast majority of digital information, which in the future may have evidentiary value, is obtained by conducting covert activities during the implementation of counterintelligence and investigative activities. Such digital information, according to the authors, can only serve as pretexts and grounds for starting a pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings. The article notes that insufficient harmonization of criminal procedural legislation and legislation regulating counterintelligence and investigative activities negatively affects the effectiveness of operational units in performing their tasks. It is also noted that the further reform of the domestic law enforcement system should follow the example of leading Western countries and the USA, where the concept of "operational investigative activity" is absent at all. In most of the foreign democratic countries of the world, secret police investigation is a criminal procedural activity, which is overt and undercover procedural actions carried out under the direction of the prosecutor. The authors of the article conclude that in order to strengthen the counter-intelligence component in the activities of the Security Service of Ukraine and taking into account foreign experience in this area, it is necessary to create a separate, without reference to the requirements of the provisions of the Law of Ukraine "On Operational and Investigative Activities" and the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, a mechanism for organizing and carrying out activities related to the temporary restriction of human rights and freedoms. It is currently of utmost importance to ensure that students in higher education acquire and employ the digital literacy skills they will require to excel in their academic endeavours and personal lives. This research sought to find out students' perceptions of their digital literacy and e-skills and the digital tools they utilise on a daily basis. The Distance Learners at the University of Lagos were randomly sampled (stratified) to respond to the researcher-designed questionnaires, to elicit responses from the learners. 354 respondents being female and 306 being males. A Cronbach alpha value of 0.78 was obtained. Analysis of the research questions show that there is a significant gap between the perceived importance of e-skills and digital literacy competencies and their actual usage. The findings suggest that there may be a need for greater focus on developing e-skills and digital literacy competencies among distance learning students. For instance, 64.4% of respondents use technology very frequently in their coursework. Institutions and educators may need to provide training and support to help students develop these skills. Additionally, students may need to prioritize their own learning of these skills and seek out resources and opportunities to develop themselves. However, the negative perceptions of a small percentage of respondents suggest that there may be areas where improvements could be made. Institutions and educators may need to continually evaluate their support programs to ensure they are meeting the needs of students, and work to address any areas where support may be lacking. - Abstract
This article presents a study on the role of information sources in the coping strategies of the ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) Jewish community during the COVID-19 pandemic in Israel. The study compares the use of digital versus traditional information platforms and examines the relationship between coping with COVID-19 and factors such as Community Sense of Coherence (C-SOC), Internet usage, and demographic variables. Using an online survey, the study collected responses from 212 ultra-Orthodox participants who had Internet access, of which 47.2% were women and 52.8% were men, with a mean age of 37.66 (SD = 12.60). The findings suggest that utilizing digital information sources is associated with better emotional and mental coping levels during the pandemic than using traditional sources. Moreover, the study highlights that the more the Internet is used for information or social needs, the more helpful digital sources are for emotional and cognitive coping. Conversely, the more the ultra-Orthodox society felt that their community (CSOC) was significant, the better their coping with the pandemic utilizing traditional sources. This study contributes a unique perspective to the coping strategies of ultra-Orthodox society during a global crisis and underscores the importance of providing reliable and timely digital information while respecting their cultural and religious values. ARTIFICIAL intelligence ,NATURAL language processing ,BIBLIOGRAPHIC databases ,MACHINE learning ,AUTOMATIC classification - Abstract
Due to the advancement of technology, cybercrime has increased considerably, making digital forensics essential for any organisation. One of the most critical challenges is to analyse and classify the information on devices, identifying the relevant and valuable data for a specific purpose. This phase of the forensic process is one of the most complex and time-consuming, and requires expert analysts to avoid overlooking data relevant to the investigation. Although tools exist today that can automate this process, they will depend on how tightly their parameters are tuned to the case study, and many lack support for complex scenarios where language barriers play an important role. Recent advances in machine learning allow the creation of new architectures to significantly increase the performance of information analysis and perform the intelligent search process automatically, reducing analysis time and identifying relationships between files based on initial parameters. In this paper, we present a bibliographic review of artificial intelligence algorithms that allow an exhaustive analysis of multimedia information contained in removable devices in a forensic process, using natural language processing and natural language understanding techniques for the automatic classification of documents in seized devices. Finally, some of the open challenges technology developers face when generating tools that use artificial intelligence techniques to analyse the information contained in documents on seized devices are reviewed.
