The article presents and analyzes the results of a large investigation into the current state of women's literature in Italy, which brings together sixty interviews carried out by Afrodita Carmen Cionchin and Giusy Capone among well-known literary critics and writers and published in the bilingual magazine online "Orizzonti culturali italo-romeni". Several themes of great interest and actuality are treated ranging from the difference between women and men when it comes to literature to the axiological criterion (according to which male literature is perceived as "universal", while the female one continues to be felt as rather aimed at women, that is "partial"), to the literary canon (a reinterpretation of Italian literary history most attentive to gender balances, especially as regards the twentieth century), to the problem of recognition linked to literary prizes (in the case of the Strega Prize, from 1947, the year of its institution, to 2023, there are only twelve women who won it, during the 77 editions, against 65 men), to the fil rouge who knots the multiple souls of the female literature, up to the most representative female names of the twentieth century and the present. La presente proposta di lettura è dedicata alla figura di Maria Messina, scrittrice siciliana verista ingiustamente caduta nell'oblio e rivalutata negli anni '80 da Leonardo Sciascia. Dopo un'iniziale adesione ai modelli del verismo verghiano, la narrativa della Messina si caratterizza per una sua originalità legata all'analisi delle numerose figure femminili che popolano le sue opere. Il ritratto che ne emerge è quello di un'estrema condizione di subalternità femminile asservita all'universo fallocentrico della cultura dominante del potere maschile. L'analisi condotta nel presente lavoro si sofferma su alcune delle protagoniste femminili della raccolta Ragazze siciliane (1921) e mira a rilevare, attraverso un'interpretazione tematica ed onomastica dei testi, la presenza di un "protofemminismo" ante litteram per mezzo del quale la scrittrice ha coraggiosamente affrontato tematiche ritenute "scottanti" per il periodo storico, quali l'alterità e la differenza. Facile scrivere la parola “cultura” meno metterla in atto; la situazione si complica poi se aggiungiamo i concetti di differenza e diversità. Ancora più controverso si fa il discorso se affianchiamo ai termini cultura, differenza, diversità la parola corpo: sembrano quattro parole d’uso quotidiano, teoricamente facili da decodificare, mentre nella pratica implicano una serie di significazioni altre, non sempre conciliabili. Il presente articolo mira a favorire la lettura, da parte dei professionisti dell’educazione e della cura, delle differenze, ponendo attenzione sulla mediazione del linguaggio analogico, inteso come facilitatore di interazioni tra Persone, ambienti, esperienze, vissuti sentiti e interiorizzati; è facile assemblare questi concetti, ma, nonostante i progressi e gli studi, non sempre si è in grado di attivare buone prassi. Lo schema corporeo ci accompagna in tutta la nostra esistenza con tappe che si caratterizzano, particolarmente, in età evolutiva, ma anche nei successivi anni di vita, adulta e terza età, perché, inevitabilmente, la nostra identità corporea dovrà ri-elaborarsi, ri-strutturarsi, ri-organizzarsi adeguatamente, in quanto il corpo ci identifica, è la nostra carta di identità che ci colloca nel mondo: siamo nel mondo. Tutti i corpi sono diversi così come le personalità, ognuno è unico nella forma mentis: tale unicità è ciò che ci caratterizza e ci contraddistingue. Per questa ragione vogliamo con determinazione focalizzarci sul grande apporto del linguaggio non verbale nella formazione/educazione/crescita/vita di tutti e di ciascuno, a prescindere dalla propria condizione fisica, psichica, sociale, culturale.

There is fundamental confusion and notable omissions within counselling and psychotherapy's adoption of diversity principles. This prevents the profession from achieving its aims of more respectful and efficacious clinical practice with certain populations. The article argues that uncritical over-reliance on ideas from outside the profession has resulted in a failure to appraise which groups might require specific attention. Unacknowledged confusion between celebratory and critical approaches to diversity is also identified as a source of practical muddle. Putatively radical assertions about understanding minority group experience are shown to actually exclude valuable ways of understanding social disadvantage, which might better enhance our understanding and efficacy. The article concludes by suggesting that the multiple difficulties within the profession's embrace of diversity can be understood in terms of a refusal to reconsider the theoretical, economic and organisational foundations of our therapeutic work to which questions of diversity pose a serious challenge. A case is made for a more open discussion of the relevant issues accompanied by a call for revised professional organization to support knowledge production. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The taboo of therapist self-disclosure and literature addressing disclosure and disability issues from a psychodynamic perspective is explored. Research on disclosure decisions among physically impaired practitioners is limited. Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis qualitative research methodology was employed to understand the lived experience of psychodynamic practitioners with sight impairment to understand disclosure decision-making processes in a therapeutic setting. Six participants self-identified as sight impaired psychodynamic practitioners and were interviewed using a semi-structured questionnaire. Findings showed that the experience of working as a practitioner with sight impairment is a tenacious endeavour, requiring high levels of self-awareness and determination in navigating the minefield of self-disclosure, daring to be seen by others, holding the patient's need to be seen and journeying through loss and acceptance of the changing self. Results showed that there is an inverse relationship between likelihood to self-disclose sight impairment and the extent to which practitioners work with unconscious process and transference. Ultimately, the capacity to reclaim disavowed parts of the self, defined therapists' ability to make therapeutic disclosure decisions. Suggestions for future research, clinical and ethical implications are provided plus recommendations for impaired practitioners and those who work with difference. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Nowadays, brotherhood has been deadly weakened by conflicts between people who were considered brothers in the past. It is then necessary to remember the story of this ambivalent word, its mixed fortunes in the history of thought, to look for what has been lost on the way and to give it new foundation. It is necessary to avoid giving in to abstract interpretations of it or to sectarian and excluding interpretations. Recovering its filial origin and the transcendence of the faces which constitute an ethical reminder of responsibility towards brothers and sisters shows how brotherhood goes beyond the biological aspect and can decline in a universal way. It guards the differences but builds the communion of all, through its affective root of compassion and pity and the recognition of the common vulnerable humanity. Remembering the cause of brotherhood is functional in assuming it as a category of thought and political planning and in rediscovering the original vocation of the human. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

It is time to reclaim C.G. Jung's vision of psychology as the foundational science upon which all sciences and institutions would be based, and as the discipline, theory, and practice necessary for fostering humanity's overall psychocultural development. Jung identified eight distinct 'types' of consciousness through which humankind engages its emerging psychological attitude. Jung's view of psychological development as hingeing on the differentiation of function-attitudes provides the means for understanding not only ourselves and each other, but our society as well. This paper offers an example of such an analysis by focusing on the current conflict within American political culture. The goal is as lofty as it is necessary: the operationalization of Jung's vision of psychology as the powerful influencer of human cultural evolution that it has the potential to be. The immediate goal is to instigate the first step toward this vision of Jung's 'complex psychology' by stimulating conversations among Jungians about how they can foster that vision, leading them towards taking up roles as 'citizen therapists', actively involved in their communities in cultivating greater empathy and the withdrawal of projections in the interest of furthering 'collective consciousness'. Il presente contributo intende tracciare sinteticamente i presupposti teorici fondamentali per una metafisica ecologica di stampo neoplatonico, articolando una nozione dinamico-intensiva di «stessità» su tre fronti: biologico, psicologico, cosmologico. Muovendo dalle elaborazioni post-cibernetiche e dalla biologia dei sistemi, attraverso l’ecologia della mente di Bateson, si riattiverà infine l’antica aporia dell’Uno e dei Molti, mostrandone, oggi come allora, l’inaggirabilità speculativa.

This article aims at reinterpreting the encyclical Fratelli tutti through a gender and difference approach, by showing that even the apparently more inclusive categories can conceal shadows of power or legitimize forms of marginalization of individuals. In order to save fraternity from fratriarchal mortgages and to ensure its relevance on a public level, feminist philosophies that are more critical of neoliberal models are particularly useful because they dare to propose the ethics of care from a political perspective. In this respect, Hannah Arendt and Simone Weil provide an essential contribution, as they suggest that a core of extraneousness has to be maintained in every relational discourse aimed at achieving proximity. L’articolo propone alcune riflessioni sui problemi e le opportunità che la pratica del dialogo incontra nel presente, inscritto nel quadro dell’intera storia umana. Il presente è considerato come inizio travagliato di una nuova forma societaria, la società-mondo, intesa, con Morin, come nuova comunità di destino. Vengono discusse tre nozioni, ritenute in grado di evidenziare le questioni più sfidanti: eterogeneità, simultaneità e caduta della gerarchia. Si assume, con Girard, che le interazioni sociali umane siano da sempre regolate tramite gerarchie unanimemente credute di origine sacra, ovvero extra-umana, fondate primariamente sull’efficacia evolutiva del dispositivo sacrificale. Si ipotizza che, con l’affermarsi delle narrazioni che rivelano l’innocenza della vittima espiatoria (in specie i Vangeli), sia iniziato un radicale processo di indebolimento della gerarchia che ha portato dalla regolazione verticale delle interazioni sociali alla sfida inedita di regolazioni più dirette e orizzontali. Con il modernismo, e poi con la recente globalizzazione, marcata dallo sviluppo di tecnologie comunicative iperveloci, questo processo ha conosciuto una poderosa accelerazione, con esiti in prevalenza individualistici e distruttivi. Si suggerisce che esiti diversi, capaci di favorire processi di soggettivazione positiva, richiedano la promozione di un sentimento ecologico (nel senso di Bateson) di partecipazione relazionale alla società-mondo in formazione.

The release of the book La svolta dell'idillio e altre pagine leopardiane offers an opportunity to take stock of Luigi Blasucci's critical method, essentially conceived as a close exegesis of the texts. From the individualizing reading privileged by the scholar, connected to his interest in the original physiognomy of the literary work, derives his marked sensitivity for difference, which can be found at various levels, diachronic, typological, stylistic, thematic, and is attested by the lexical recurrences relating to this semantic area disseminated within his prose. In an age of polarized political views and growing nationalism it is vital that the psychoanalytic profession offers its contribution. The author makes a link between early infant development and social and political behaviour. Psychoanalytic, Jungian and Relational ideas are explored. Starting from Freud and his theory of 'minor differences', a dichotomy between closeness and separateness is investigated. The writer argues that difference is at the centre of human identity and human development and explores why we struggle to accept it. The totalitarian political system is described as one that eliminates difference. Questo contributo esplora il ruolo della traduzione teatrale come forma di attivismo femminista e queer attraverso l’analisi di Porci e cani (2017), traduzione italiana di Pigs and Dogs (2016) della drammaturga britannica Caryl Churchill. Parte di un più ampio progetto per sostenere la ricezione di un’autrice ancora poco rappresentata sulle scene italiane, questa traduzione e la sua drammatizzazione ad opera di Bluemotion si inseriscono in un ampio scenario di ricerca sulla messa in scena dei corpi sessuati come pratica di resistenza politica. Rispetto alle esperienze maturate in Italia, questo testo sollecita però anche un confronto con la posizionalità del corpo queer rispetto alla linea del colore, e al suo ruolo nell’elaborazione del discorso nazionale e transnazionale sui diritti civili. La traduzione – sia sulla pagina che sulla scena – apre quindi uno spazio che permette di interrogare la differenza su diversi livelli (linguistico, corporeo, performativo), mostrando lo spazio e il tempo della performance al centro della ricerca di immaginari alternativi all’etero-patriarcato di marca coloniale, e che il teatro civile resta una delle forme di attivismo politico più significative nell’Italia contemporanea.

In Platone, l’immagine è rappresentazione pervasa di emozione. Non esiste immagine, neppure una semplice copia, che non contenga un’emozione e non esiste una pittura, neppure la più astratta, che non rappresenti un’idea. Il fine del presente articolo è di proporre una lettura e interpretazione del concetto di immagine in Platone, che mantenga vivi i due aspetti costitutivi dell’immagine, la carica emotiva e il riferimento al contenuto reale di cui l’immagine è rappresentazione. Il testo è diviso in tre sezioni: nella prima e nella seconda sezione indago lo statuto ontologico dell’immagine e la sua relazione con l’archetipo; nella terza parte propongo una interpretazione della funzione dell’immagine in Platone e in alcuni passi della letteratura greca antica.

In the networked society to live the experiences online and offline are two dimensions likely to be confused, jeopardizing the real formation of the person. The advent of Digital Media is changing, in terms of structure and function, even traditional media. The portability, interactivity and generativity create a new cognitive style than in the past, and this problematizes the role of the school and of the family who now have to deal with the so-called Multitasking Generation, capable to carry out many activities simultaneously.Offering to the new generations an idea of citizenship suited to the dynamics of a complex society, it means being able to combine, in the space of the meeting, the local with the global, in a size that realizes in the so-called "glo-cal". The goals of the twenty-first century school would be promoting the concept of digital citizenship, declined in terms of dialogue and encounter.

This article presents the contribution of the Association Mediterranean without Handicap NGO to the study of health and disability considered as an ethical and anthropological issue besides being a social and medical one. From the perspective of human rights, disability is conceived as an important point of view umafor observing human beings through categories such as autonomy and dependency, equality and difference. The speeches made by pope Frances in Strasbourg on November 25th 2014 raise some questions on the «multi-polar» dimension of reality. Making reference to the phenomenological concept of the «multiple worlds» and the hermeneutical concept of the «intertwining horizons» the Author proposes to go beyond the pluralist model of truth and re-consider the concept of «multi-versum» as coined by W. James at the end of the nineteenth century. Its origins can be found in the Enlightenment project of the Encyclopaedia and the epistemological assumptions of its creators Diderot and D’Alembert. Further developed by E. Bloch in the second half of the twentieth century, the concept of multi-versum is described as a vision of reality marked by relational and cultural differences. The world is the always open, ever-moving result of intertwining practical and learning perspectives that are focused on man. When dealing with the several ways human beings express themselves, multi-vertere can turn into cum-vertere, if the contingent and relational character of the truth is recognized. Feminist thought is a constitutive part of political thought and its history. It is both a method of inquiry, a voice and a stance on the world, a claim of women’s political centrality, and a paradoxical critique of modern political and philosophical thought. As unexpected objection, feminist discourse constantly stretches the borders of the political canon and produces critical political theory, imposing the redefinition of the categories used to interpret the present and the past. Going through six centuries of history, from the reappropriation of tradition in XV century to the tension with neoliberalism in XX century, protofeminist and feminist discourse constitutes in time a constant interruption of the monologue of Western patriarchal civilization, showing its centrality in the production, crisis and redefinition of political and social order. Thus, feminist discourse is an essential source of the history of political thought.

“Back to Hegel” è il titolo di un pezzo con cui Luca Illetterati presentava a fine 2014 su Alias (ma l’articolo è leggibile anche online, sul sito di hegelpd e sul blog Le parole e le cose) le linee principali di due libri di Terry Pinkard allora da poco usciti in edizione italiana (La fenomenologia di Hegel: la socialità della ragione, a cura di Andrea Sartori e Italo Testa, traduzione di Andrea Sartori, Milano-Udine, Mimesis, 2013, e La filosofia tedesca 1760-1860: l’eredità dell’idealismo, a cura di Mario Farina, Torino, Einaudi, 2014) che costituiscono un nucleo importante del ritorno di interesse per la filosofia di Hegel verificatosi negli ultimi tre decenni in area nordamericana.

The paper draws on recent research and the first author’s personal story to show what happens when the language difference between therapist and client is brought to mutual awareness in the therapy room. Individual lived experiences of migrant psychotherapists and counsellors and the issues that arise in therapy practice when the practitioners use their second language as the means of communication with clients are explored. The notion of a third language – a dynamic communication system that is a result of developing a professional identity through a second language – is introduced. Unlike the psychoanalytic third, it is often conscious and may be used either defensively or purposefully as a concrete third point of reference in the intersubjective encounter. The paper explores how the concept of a ‘Third Language’ can be used as a tool to negotiate perceived sameness or difference in therapeutic encounters and to build a common language with a client, both literally and metaphorically. Psychological practice is currently characterized by the coexistence of two different paradigms that inspire two different methods, which often contribute to different results. The first model considers the clinical psychology anchored in the medical model, defining the state of health as coinciding with the absence of disease and identifying first the parameters of normality. So the psychological intervention purpose is to identify the gap between the subject and the normal model shared, and aims to fill this gap with pre-established protocols oriented by Orthopedic goals, which aim to restore a supposed normality condition defined at beginning. This concept of "health", in general and in particular in the field of psychology, is supported by optics which considers psychology as a science that structures their interventions in the relationship between individual and context, having as its goals the development of relations between the individual, institutions and context. In this regard, the psychiatric revolution has played a central role in shifting the focus from the psychological intervention restoration of a (presumed condition of normality to take care of relations between the individual and the context in which the clinician is inserted, and represents the point starting to reflect on the institutional dynamics. In this regard, particular attention will be paid to the origin myths that arise at the base of the institutions themselves, in this case the anti-violence centers, and how the story about the origin can affect the psychological practice within institutional contexts. The purpose of the contribution is to describe some emerging critical issues in supportive relationship with victims of violence women, considering the methodological duplicity of psychological practices and the influence of the origns myths in clinical practice. In the light of these considerations it will be so examined how the repetition of a dynamic fusion, in which the recognition of difference and symbolization processes are absent, extending the relationship between patient, clinician and institution Anti-Violence Center, in the repetition of preconstituted protocols. Then will be shown how, in taking charge of the victims of violence women, it is desirable to not refer to predetermined protocols, building the intervention in the relationship with the patient, recognizing the peculiarities of helping question in the context where it appears. The debate regarding the relationship between nature and culture has lost its original classical articulation during the time of Modernism, dividing itself in Postmodernism, becoming conflicting paradigms of bio-centrality, nihilism and post-human. This conflict of paradigms, masked in the relativistic sense, feeds forms of anthropological deconstructionism which grow out of difficulties in recognizing the difference between finite and infinite as constitutive of the human person. From respect for this difference comes the double work, both cultural and educational, that extends from the minimal horizon of respect for life to the maximum horizon of promotion of the human person.
