This master thesis deals with critical spelling areas in the 2nd level of elementary school. The aim of the thesis is to get an overview of the spelling skills of pupils in one particular elementary school and to find out what spelling areas are the most difficult for pupils on the basis of comparison between different grades. Dictation, gap fill exercises and creative writing are used to investigate pupils' spelling skills. The different forms were chosen because we assume that pupils do not make the same mistakes in all types of spelling exercises. In the theoretical part, spelling is described both from a linguistic and didactic point of view. In the practical part, the research methodology is first presented and assumptions are made, which are evaluated in the conclusion of the paper. The description of the methodology is followed by the research results themselves, which are divided by year and by spelling areas for clarity. The results of the creative writing are commented on separately. The research also investigated how Czech language teachers feel about teaching spelling, how spelling is acquired and whether pupils consider spelling skills important. This thesis focuses on the teaching of the Czech language at scioschools. The theoretical basis of Czech language didactics and the problematicsof alternative education are discussed in the first part, while the second part characterizes the individual scioschools in terms of their general concept and teaching of Czech language. The thesis is fomulated as a case study and is methodologically based on observation, interviews and document analysis. Its aim is to provide a partial insight into the practice of Czech language teaching at scioschools and to answer how and with what goal is Czech language taught. It analyses whether some innovative methods and forms of work reflecting the current topics of Czech language didactics are applied and whether is there are any unifying concepts of Czech language teaching. While this work provides insight into these issues it concludes that scioschools aim to lead the students to so-called study autonomy. Scioschools do not work with a unified concept of teaching. This diploma thesis deals with intellectually talented individuals and from the narrower point of view, gifted pupils in the subject of Czech language at the second level of elementary school. In the theoretical part, the author deals with the talents, definitions and concepts of this issue, existing models from various authors, characteristics of gifted children, approaches of Czech schools to the education of these children and extra-curricular possibilities for the development of their talent. This thesis also deals with linguistic intelligence and personality of the teacher. The main objective is to give a realistic picture of how teachers of the Czech language view gifted pupils and what differences they find between gifted individuals and ordinary students. Furthermore, the author of the thesis searches for the differences between the capabilities of pupils gifted at the Czech language and other pupils in fulfilling the assigned tasks. Last but not least, what is the point of view on education of the pupils themselves. In the practical part, using the structured interview method, information and opinions from teachers of talented pupils and pupils themselves to the teaching of the Czech language are collected.
