- Abstract
The aim of this project is the analysis of the manufacturing process of a type of domestic resistances in order to reduce the number of defective parts obtained throughout the set of phases involved. These parts can either be recovered through mechanical conditioning, adding additional processes that make manufacturing costs more expensive, or they are directly classified as defective. Leather surface quality is vital when it comes to leather artifact production. Users of the locally produced vegetable tanned leather adopt various methods to manage and improve on the poor surface quality of leather produced in Ghana. Students from the various secondary schools and local craftsmen who often depend on the vegetable tanned leather for it inherits unique properties such as flexibility, resilience, breathability, perspiration, durability and mechanical strength adopt various methods to improve on the surface quality and also meet the market standard. The necessity for quality leather surface in leather artefact production has called for the need for corrective measures to manage defects associated with vegetable tanned leathers produced in Ghana. Stains, cuts, holes, grain loosing, creases, wrinkles, scratch marks, bacterial and viral infections are common defects which affect the quality of vegetable tanned leathers produced in Ghana. Defect managing methods such as dyeing, painting, screen printing, stamping, appliqué, and scorching adopted by leather users to manage surface defects were examined for their viability in this current study. • The reshaping of Gaussian laser pulse transmitted through a two-defect nonlinear one-dimensional photonic crystal is investigated using the transfer matrix method and the Fourier transform technique. The system has two defect modes symmetrically located around the central frequency of the PBG. The frequency gap between them uniformly decreases as the distance between the two defect layers increases. • The transmission spectrum, delay time, average duration, power, and electric field distribution of the transmitted pulses are calculated for the carrier frequency in the vicinity of the defect modes. • The output pulse may have two different shapes in the nonlinear case due to the bistable phenomenon. • The short Gaussian pulse, regardless of its carrier frequency, reshapes into a multi-peak form after encountering the two-defect photonic crystal in linear and nonlinear cases. • The longer Gaussian pulse may reshape into multi-peak or single-peak forms depending on the carrier frequency of the incident pulses. • The delay time of the principal peak, the mean duration, and the power of the output pulse are almost independent of the carrier frequency of the short input pulse. In contrast, they strongly depend on the longer input pulse carrier frequency in linear and nonlinear cases. We investigate the reshaping of Gaussian laser pulses transmitted through a two-defect nonlinear one-dimensional photonic crystal using the transfer matrix method and the Fourier transform technique. We consider the carrier frequency of the sub-picosecond optical pulses in the vicinity of the defect modes frequency. We calculate the transmission spectrum, delay time, average duration, power, and electric field distribution of the transmitted pulses and compare them with the results obtained in the linear structure. It is shown that the output pulse may have two different shapes in the nonlinear case due to the bistable phenomenon. Then the dependence of the delay time, average duration, and power of the transmitted pulses on the carrier frequency and the duration of the incident pulse are investigated in both linear and nonlinear structures. We show that the short Gaussian pulse, regardless of its carrier frequency, reshapes into a multi-peak form after encountering the two-defect photonic crystal in linear and nonlinear cases. Unlike the linear case, in the nonlinear case, some peaks of the transmitted pulse may have negative delay times. The longer Gaussian pulse may reshape into multi-peak or single-peak forms depending on the carrier frequency of the incident pulses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The reliability of mechanical systems used in automotive construction are increasing more and more, so it is impossible during life period to obtain time values for reliability studies in short time. For the acceptance tests the best solution is the accelerated tests without defaults. The paper demonstrates the necessity to use the tests without defaults and presents the methods used for determination the parameters of these tests. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
