The quaternary system CaO-SiO2-Al2O3-Fe2O3 has been taken into account to design five compositions of belite Portland clinkers with belite (Ca2SiO4) contents ranging from 60 to 65 wt%, located in its primary phase field of crystallization. The synthesis of these belite clinkers has been studied by high temperature microscopy, dilatometry, differential thermal analysis and thermogravimetric analysis. As a result, the optimum clinkerization temperature has been established at 1360 ± 5ºC. The quantitative phase analyses of the clinkers were carried out by X-ray powder diffraction with the Rietveld methodology. The mineralogical composition depends on the initial dosages, on the highest temperature achieved and on the time of residence at this temperature. The reaction was completed at 1365ºC during 15 min (free CaO < 0.5 wt%), in those conditions the β-belite form is stabilized and the harmful transformation β→γ is avoided.Teniendo en cuenta el sistema cuaternario CaO-SiO2-Al2O3-Fe2O3, se han diseñado cinco composiciones de clínqueres Pórtland belíticos, con contenidos del 60 y del 65% en peso de belita (Ca2SiO4), situadas en su campo primario de cristalización. La síntesis de estos clínqueres belíticos se ha estudiado “in situ” por microscopía de alta temperatura, dilatometría y análisis térmico diferencial y termogravimétrico. La temperatura óptima de clinquerización, determinada con estas técnicas, ha sido de 1360 ± 5ºC. Los análisis cuantitativos de los clínqueres se llevaron a cabo por difracción de rayos-X con la metodología Rietveld. Los porcentajes de las diferentes fases dependen de las dosificaciones iniciales, de la temperatura alcanzada y del tiempo de residencia a dicha temperatura. Se ha conseguido una reacción total (%CaO libre < 0.5% en peso) tratando a 1365ºC durante 15 min, en cuyas condiciones se estabiliza la forma β de la belita y se evita la transformación perjudicial β→γ.

However, the role and prevalence of other sociodemographic factors in TMD are not well defined. Therefore, this scoping review aimed to report the prevalence of sociodemographic factors in TMD patients. A systematic search was conducted in the PubMed and Web of Science databases to identify clinical trials in adult populations, using the Research Diagnostic Criteria for TMD (RDC/TMD) or the Diagnostic Criteria for TMD (DC/TMD) and reporting sociodemographic data in TMD patients. Twenty-seven studies meeting the criteria were included in this review. The most commonly reported sociodemographic factors assessed in the included studies were age, race, education, job, income, and marital status. TMD prevalence was observed to be higher among younger and divorced individuals among the included studies. However, conflicting results were found for education level, and employment was not considered a risk factor for TMD. Although this review has methodological limitations, it suggests an association between TMD incidence and certain sociodemographic factors; nevertheless, further studies are needed to establish this relationship more conclusively.Keywords: temporomandibular joint disorders, sociodemographic factors, orofacial pain

An increase in total drug (small molecules and biologics) approvals by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was seen in 2023 compared with the previous year. Cancer remained the disease most targeted by monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), followed by autoimmune conditions. Our data reveal the prevalence of approvals for biologics even during years when the total number of authorizations was low, such as in 2022. Over half the drugs that received the green light in 2023 benefited from expedited programs, as the incidence of many diseases increased. In addition, over half of the biologics approved received Orphan Drug Designation from the FDA. This narrative review delves into details of the most significant approvals in 2023, including mAbs, enzymes, and proteins, explaining their mechanisms of action, differences from previous drugs, placebo, and standards of care, and outcomes in clinical trials. Given the varying number of drugs authorized annually by the U.S. health authority, this review also examines the limits of external influences over the FDA′s decisions and independence regarding drug approvals and withdrawals. Simple Summary: Uveal melanoma (UM) is the most common primary intraocular tumor in adults, with a high incidence of liver metastasis causing poor survival. However, the mechanisms underlying this liver tropism remain poorly understood. Our study focused on the roles of UM exosomes along the metastatic process. A comparison of protein cargos between exosomes derived from the primary UM tumor and metastasis reveals a prominent function of exosomes derived from parental cells, favoring the detachment of cells from the primary site. We also found that UM-derived exosomes played a significant role in the activation and transdifferentiation of human hepatic stellate cells (HHSCs), which contribute to the formation of a pre-metastatic niche in the liver, promote interaction with tumor cells, and ultimately might enhance the metastatic potential. UM is an aggressive intraocular tumor characterized by high plasticity and a propensity to metastasize in the liver. However, the underlying mechanisms governing liver tropism remain poorly understood. Given the emerging significance of exosomes, we sought to investigate the contribution of UM-derived exosomes to specific steps of the metastatic process. Firstly, we isolated exosomes from UM cells sharing a common genetic background and different metastatic properties. A comparison of protein cargo reveals an overrepresentation of proteins related to cytoskeleton remodeling and actin filament-based movement in exosomes derived from the parental cells that may favor the detachment of cells from the primary site. Secondly, we assessed the role of macrophages in reprogramming the HHSCs by exosomes. The activation of HHSCs triggered a pro-inflammatory and pro-fibrotic environment through cytokine production, upregulation of extracellular matrix molecules, and the activation of signaling pathways. Finally, we found that activated HHSCs promote increased adhesion and migration of UM cells. Our findings shed light on the pivotal role of exosomes in pre-metastatic niche construction in the liver. Portland cements (PCs) and cement blends are multiphase materials of different fineness, and quantitatively analysing their hydration pathways is very challenging. The dissolution (hydration) of the initial crystalline and amorphous phases must be determined, as well as the formation of labile (such as ettringite), reactive (such as portlandite) and amorphous (such as calcium silicate hydrate gel) components. The microstructural changes with hydration time must also be mapped out. To address this robustly and accurately, an innovative approach is being developed based on in situ measurements of pastes without any sample conditioning. Data are sequentially acquired by Mo Kα1 laboratory X‐ray powder diffraction (LXRPD) and microtomography (µCT), where the same volume is scanned with time to reduce variability. Wide capillaries (2 mm in diameter) are key to avoid artefacts, e.g. self‐desiccation, and to have excellent particle averaging. This methodology is tested in three cement paste samples: (i) a commercial PC 52.5 R, (ii) a blend of 80 wt% of this PC and 20 wt% quartz, to simulate an addition of supplementary cementitious materials, and (iii) a blend of 80 wt% PC and 20 wt% limestone, to simulate a limestone Portland cement. LXRPD data are acquired at 3 h and 1, 3, 7 and 28 days, and µCT data are collected at 12 h and 1, 3, 7 and 28 days. Later age data can also be easily acquired. In this methodology, the amounts of the crystalline phases are directly obtained from Rietveld analysis and the amorphous phase contents are obtained from mass‐balance calculations. From the µCT study, and within the attained spatial resolution, three components (porosity, hydrated products and unhydrated cement particles) are determined. The analyses quantitatively demonstrate the filler effect of quartz and limestone in the hydration of alite and the calcium aluminate phases. Further hydration details are discussed. On the one hand, calcium sulfoaluminate (CSA) eco-cements release about 40% less carbon dioxide (CO2) than Portland cement during fabrication; on the other hand, phase change materials dispersed in a cementitious matrix can help to optimise the indoor temperature of buildings, reducing carbon dioxide emissions related to heating/air conditioning. However, this is only economically viable if it is used as a thin layer (a coating). In addition, the combination of both materials supposes a double environmental benefit. Consequently, the main objective of this work is the preparation of a suitable homogeneous and well-adhered bilayer sample, composed of CSA and CSA-MPCM. To achieve this, in the first step, the effect of pH, temperature and stirring was studied for microencapsulated phase change material (MPCM) aqueous suspensions (47.3 wt%); second, the MPCM (45 wt% with respect to dry cement) was dispersed in a CSA paste; then, in a third step, a homogeneous well-adhered coating of CSA-MPCM, with undamaged MPCM, was obtained on a CSA matrix. This was achieved through rheological measurements and checked by microscopy. Finally, the corresponding CSA and CSA-MPCM mortars were characterised through their mechanical properties (compression) (70 and 13 MPa at 7 days, respectively) and thermal conductivity (2.06 and 1.19 W/mK, respectively). Native mass spectrometric analysis of TPR2A and GrpE with unpurified peptides derived from limited proteolysis of their respective PPI partners (HSP90 C-terminus and DnaK) facilitated efficient, qualitative identification of interfacial epitopes involved in transient PPI formation.
