Skins and pulps of ripe samples of Itália, Brasil, Rubi, Thompson and Niagara Rosada grapes from the Campinas and Jundiaí regions - SP state - Brazil, were studied with the objective of evaluating the antioxidant activity, enzymatic activities of peroxidase and polyphenoloxidase, phenolic compounds and ascorbic acid. In order to verify correlations between the skins and pulps of the varieties and the characteristics studied, Pearson's correlation, the generalized distance of Mahalanobis (D2) and finally the grouping of the different responses using the multivariate analysis, were carried out. It was verified that the skins of the grapes analysed had a positive correlation with the phenolic compounds, polyphenoloxidase activity and ascorbic acid content, except for Niagara Rosada, showing higher levels for these evaluations. There was no correlation between the antioxidant activity and the other analyzes. This shows that for the majority of the varieties evaluated, the skins are a great source of these compounds. No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2014-10-01 This work was based to study the influence of the storage temperature (cold and room temperature) in the quality of inflorescences strelitzia. The scapes were selected, labeled and there were zero problems concerning mechanical damage, disease and/or plagues. Subsequently this period, the scapes were moved randomly to recipients with water, in which two postharvest trials were conducted. In experiment 1, the flower scapes were placed in buckets with water from public supply and sanitation department and taken to a cold room at temperature of 7.5 ºC and RH of 90%, for a twelve day period. For the experiment 2, were kept under the same conditions but at room temperature for a period of six days. In both experiments, the visual analysis: color, gloss, stains (by assigning notes), opening and drop florets (count) were evaluated at intervals of four days in cold and every 48 hours at ambient temperature conditions. The sepal is the organ that showed greater loss in coloration. The variable gloss showed the same pattern for the two experiments. Incidences of stains on the inflorescences occurred in patches at room temperature. The scapes increased number of florets open in cold. This tendency did not occur at room temperature. No were observed differences in the fall of florets. Conclude that the storage temperature does not contribute to postharvest quality of strelitzia. This study was aimed to evaluate the development of height and diameter of the stems of chrysanthemum cultivar Yoko ono by the applications of gibberellic acid (GA 3) in the field. The treatments were composed of four doses (0, 40, 80 and 120 mg L -1) at 15 and 30 days after transplanting. From the findings, It can be concluded that GA 3 significantly affected the diameter of stem at higher doses, and was unable to affect the height of stem.
