This is a scoping review protocol that aims to assess, through the mapping of studies produced worldwide, what impacts the COVID-19 pandemic has on the mental health of stricto sensu postgraduate students, master's and doctoral students, comprising the following steps: identification of the research question; identification of relevant publications; selection of publications; data extraction; analysis and synthesis of evidence. Data will be extracted, synthesized and presented descriptively, according to the recommendations of the PRISMA-ScR protocol. To perform the bibliographic search, controlled and free vocabularies will be used in the following databases: PubMed via MEDLINE, Web of Science, SciVerse Scopus (Elsevier), Embase, PsycINFO, LILACS via BVS, ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global and Google Scholar. After the searches, the data will be exported to an online bibliographic reference manager (Rayyan®), where duplicate publications will be excluded and publications will be selected by reading the titles and abstracts by two independent reviewers. We will include research published in full and free of charge in Portuguese, Spanish or English, which aims to identify the impacts of COVID-19 on the mental health of these students. Editorials, theoretical essays, abstracts of event proceedings and review articles will be excluded. The included publications will be submitted to a narrative synthesis after data extraction, which will be carried out using a form that aims to identify, through the mapping of studies, the impacts of COVID-19 on the mental health of postgraduate students (master's and doctorate).
