This article informs about the XIII Congress of the International Institute of Sociology to be held in Caracas, Venezuela from November 20- 25, 1972. The registration fee is US $ 20 and entitles each member to present papers, participate in workshops and receive a copy of the proceedings of the congress. The article also includes program details for the congress. Topics to be covered in the congress are "General Theoretical and Methodological Problems" and "Areas: Africa-Asia-Latin America-Arab World". There will be nine working groups. They are Sociology of Education, Sociology of Knowledge and Sociology of Art, Sociology of Culture, Sociology of Family, Sociology of Work, Social Classes, Political Sociology, Sociology of Medicine, Sociology of Religion and Magic, Urbanism, Rural Development, Planning, Prospective Studies, Archives and Banks of Sociological Data and Open Themes. The autor maintains that the scientific use of the concept of innovation has undergone deep changes within the latest economic and sociological debate, if confronted with its original meaning, of neoclassical stamp, of external variable of the productive process. First with Kaldor, who considers it as an independent functions of capital accumulation; later with the substitution of Schumpeter scheme based on a rigorous distinction between the inventive process, which is outside the concern, and the innovatory one, which defines the role of the entrepreneur, with a more fluid scheme that regards large concerns as the subject of imputation of either process; lastly with Arrow's attempt to consider the worker's productive experience as a constituent part of that process of acquisition of Knowledge which culminates in the modification of technology; with these three passages it is possible to draw an outline leading to recognize innovation/invent ion as more and more deeply rooted within the real productive process.
