Abstract: In order to establish the frequency of IgA and IgM anti-C. Trachomatis antibodies in expectant women, a study was made of 84 women between the ages of 14 and 43, who attended prenatal consults in the Autonomous Service at the University Hospital “Antonio Patricio of Alcalá,” Cumaná, State of Sucre, during the March-June period, 2006. 84 serum samples were obtained to determine IgA and IgM anti-C. trachomatis antibodies using the immunoabsorption method connected to ELISA enzymes (Diagnostic Automation INC). Of the total samples studied, 16 (19.05%) and 55 (65.48%) resulted positive for the IgA and IgM anti-C. trachomatis antibodies, respectively. No association was found between the presence of these antibodies and the age of the patients, although the greater number of positive patients was in the 14 to 23-year age interval. Likewise, no statistically significant values were found between the association of clinical genital manifestations and the presence of IgA and IgM anti C- trachomatis antibodies; therefore, it was shown that Chlamydia trachomatis is presented asymptomatically in most cases. Conclusions were that genital infection by Chlamydia trachomatis in pregnant women is extremely frequent, especially for ages between 24 and 33 years, and it occurs habitually in an asymptomatic form with the serious repercussions that this produces on the patient, the fetus and the partner. Resumen: Con el propósito de establecer la frecuencia de anticuerpos IgA e IgM anti-C. trachomatis en mujeres embarazadas se realizó un estudio en 84 mujeres con esa condición, en edades comprendidas entre 14 y 43 años, que acudieron a la consulta prenatal, del Servicio Autónomo Hospital Universitario “Antonio Patricio de Alcalá”, en Cumaná, estado Sucre, Venezuela, durante el período marzo-junio de 2006. Para ello se obtuvieron 84 muestras de suero para la determinación de anticuerpos IgA e IgM anti C. trachomatis a través del método de inmunoabsorción ligado a enzimas ELISA (Diagnostic Automation INC). Del total de muestras analizadas 16 (19,05%) y 55 (65,48%) resultaron positivas para la determinación de anticuerpos IgA e IgM anti C. trachomatis respectivamente. No se encontró asociación entre la presencia de estos anticuerpos con la edad de las pacientes, aunque el mayor número de pacientes positivas se ubicó en el intervalo de edades comprendidas entre 14 a 23 años. Asimismo, al asociarse las manifestaciones clínicas genitales con la presencia de anticuerpos IgA e IgM anti C- trachomatis no se encontraron valores estadísticamente significativos. Por lo anteriormente expuesto se concluye que la infección genital por Chlamydia trachomatis en mujeres embarazadas es extremadamente frecuente, de manera especial en las edades comprendidas entre 24 a 33 años, y ocurre habitualmente en forma asintomática con las graves repercusiones que esto acarrea a la paciente, al feto y a su pareja.

Abstract: Three-hundred fifty-six blood samples from apparently healthy donors at the University Hospital “Antonio Patricio de Alcalá” Blood Bank in Cumaná, Sucre, were evaluated for the prevalence of several blood-transmitted diseases. The presence of antibodies against the core (anti-HBc) and surface antigen (HBsAg) of the hepatitis B virus, the hepatitis C virus (HCV), the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and Trypanosoma cruzi was determined using ELISA. In addition, tests for non-treponemic antibodies against syphilis and antibodies against Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium vivax antigens were also carried out. From the total number of patients, 84 (23. 6%) were positive for one or more markers, distributed as follows: 41(11. 52%) reactive for Anti-HBc, 9 (2.53%) for HBsAg, 2 (0. 56%) for HCV, 1 (0. 28%) for T. cruzi and 31 (8.71%) for VDRL. No positive cases for HIV and Plasmodium were observed. These results demonstrate that the population studied could be classified as high risk for transmitting the HBV, without excluding other pathologies whose diagnosis is also important in order to avoid the risk of propagating infections. Resumen: Se evaluaron 356 muestras de sangre de individuos aparentemente sanos, que acudieron en calidad de donantes al Banco de Sangre del Hospital Universitario “Antonio Patricio de Alcalá” Cumaná, estado Sucre para la prevalencia de varias enfermedades de trasmisión sanguínea. Se determinó la presencia de anticuerpos por ELISA contra el core (anti-HBc) y antígeno de superficie (HBsAg) del virus de la hepatitis B, contra el virus de la hepatitis C (VHC), contra el virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana (VIH) y contra Trypanosoma cruzi. Además, se efectuó la prueba de anticuerpos no treponémicos contra la sífilis y antígenos de Plasmodium falciparum y Plasmodium vivax. Del total de pacientes, 84 (23,6%) presentaron positividad para uno o más marcadores, siendo la distribución: 41(11,52%) reactivas para el Anti-HBc, 9 (2,53%) para HBsAg, 2 (0,56%) para VHC, 1 (0,28%) para T. cruzi y 31 (8,71%) para VDRL. Para VIH y Plasmodium no se encontraron casos positivos. Estos resultados demuestran que la población estudiada puede estar dentro del grupo clasificado como de alto riesgo para transmitir el VHB, sin excluir a las otras patologías que no deja de ser importante su despistaje para evitar así el riesgo de propagación de infecciones.

The rooting of rootstocks is considered a critical point in the production of high-quality grapevine planting material. To maximize the cutting rhizogenesis process, plant hormones, such as auxins, are used for the development of adventitious roots. In addition, some groups of biostimulant have as their main role the development of root system, ensuring good growth of the plant aerial part. However, research using algae extract-based biostimulants in vegetative propagation of vine rootstocks is scarce. In this sense, the objective of this work was to evaluate the use of the biostimulant based on algae extract and indolebutyric acid (IBA), in the development of the root system and vegetative growth of grapevine rootstocks. The rootstocks evaluated were ‘3309 C’, ‘101-14 Mgt’, ‘Paulsen 1103’, ‘99 R’, ‘110 R’, ‘Kober 5BB’, ‘SO4’, ‘420A Mgt’, ‘Solferino’, ‘Gravesac’, ‘IAC 572’, ‘IAC 766’, ‘IAC 313’, ‘Harmony’, ‘Freedom’, ‘Salt Creek’ and ‘VR 043- 43’. The experimental design was completely randomized with four replications, arranged in a factorial scheme, involving 17 rootstocks associated with four treatments to stimulate rooting (IBA, algae extract, IBA + algae extract and control). The use of indolebutyric acid and algae extract-based biostimulant proved to be efficient in rooting woody cuttings from different vine rootstocks. The use of IBA, algae extract-based biostimulant and IBA combined with algae extract resulted in higher rates of rooting and development than the control. The rootstocks presenting the highest rooting rates and vegetative development were ‘IAC 572’ and ‘Freedom’. ‘Gravesac’, ‘101-14 Mgt’ and ‘99 R’, showing high rates of rooting and root development, but low vegetative development. The rootstocks exhibiting the lowest rooting rates and vegetative development were ‘Salt Creek’, ‘VR 043-43’ and ‘110 R’.

In order to establish the frequency of IgA and IgM anti-C. Trachomatis antibodies in expectant women, a study was made of 84 women between the ages of 14 and 43, who attended prenatal consults in the Autonomous Service at the University Hospital “Antonio Patricio of Alcalá,” Cumaná, State of Sucre, during the March-June period, 2006. 84 serum samples were obtained to determine IgA and IgM anti-C. trachomatis antibodies using the immunoabsorption method connected to ELISA enzymes (Diagnostic Automation INC). Of the total samples studied, 16 (19.05%) and 55 (65.48%) resulted positive for the IgA and IgM anti-C. trachomatis antibodies, respectively. No association was found between the presence of these antibodies and the age of the patients, although the greater number of positive patients was in the 14 to 23 year age interval. Likewise, no statistically significant values were found between the association of clinical genital manifestations and the presence of IgA and IgM anti C- trachomatis antibodies; therefore, it was shown that Chlamydia trachomatis is presented asymptomatically in most cases. Conclusions were that genital infection by Chlamydia trachomatis in pregnant women is extremely frequent, especially for ages between 24 and 33 years, and it occurs habitually in an asymptomatic form with the serious repercussions that this produces on the patient, the fetus and the partner.

Trachomatis antibodies in expectant women, a study was made of 84 women between the ages of 14 and 43, who attended prenatal consults in the Autonomous Service at the University Hospital “Antonio Patricio of Alcalá,” Cumaná, State of Sucre, during the March-June period, 2006. 84 serum samples were obtained to determine IgA and IgM anti-C. trachomatis antibodies using the immunoabsorption method connected to ELISA enzymes (Diagnostic Automation INC). Of the total samples studied, 16 (19.05%) and 55 (65.48%) resulted positive for the IgA and IgM anti-C. trachomatis antibodies, respectively. No association was found between the presence of these antibodies and the age of the patients, although the greater number of positive patients was in the 14 to 23-year age interval. Likewise, no statistically significant values were found between the association of clinical genital manifestations and the presence of IgA and IgM anti C- trachomatis antibodies; therefore, it was shown that Chlamydia trachomatis is presented asymptomatically in most cases. Conclusions were that genital infection by Chlamydia trachomatis in pregnant women is extremely frequent, especially for ages between 24 and 33 years, and it occurs habitually in an asymptomatic form with the serious repercussions that this produces on the patient, the fetus and the partner. Resumen: Con el propósito de establecer la frecuencia de anticuerpos IgA e IgM anti-C. trachomatis en mujeres embarazadas se realizó un estudio en 84 mujeres con esa condición, en edades comprendidas entre 14 y 43 años, que acudieron a la consulta prenatal, del Servicio Autónomo Hospital Universitario “Antonio Patricio de Alcalá”, en Cumaná, estado Sucre, Venezuela, durante el período marzo-junio de 2006. Para ello se obtuvieron 84 muestras de suero para la determinación de anticuerpos IgA e IgM anti C. trachomatis a través del método de inmunoabsorción ligado a enzimas ELISA (Diagnostic Automation INC). Del total de muestras analizadas 16 (19,05%) y 55 (65,48%) resultaron positivas para la determinación de anticuerpos IgA e IgM anti C. trachomatis respectivamente. No se encontró asociación entre la presencia de estos anticuerpos con la edad de las pacientes, aunque el mayor número de pacientes positivas se ubicó en el intervalo de edades comprendidas entre 14 a 23 años. Asimismo, al asociarse las manifestaciones clínicas genitales con la presencia de anticuerpos IgA e IgM anti C- trachomatis no se encontraron valores estadísticamente significativos. Por lo anteriormente expuesto se concluye que la infección genital por Chlamydia trachomatis en mujeres embarazadas es extremadamente frecuente, de manera especial en las edades comprendidas entre 24 a 33 años, y ocurre habitualmente en forma asintomática con las graves repercusiones que esto acarrea a la paciente, al feto y a su pareja.

Se evaluaron 356 muestras de sangre de individuos aparentemente sanos, que acudieron en calidad de donantes al Banco de Sangre del Hospital Universitario “Antonio Patricio de Alcalá” Cumaná, estado Sucre para la prevalencia de varias enfermedades de trasmisión sanguínea. Se determinó la presencia de anticuerpos por ELISA contra el core (anti-HBc) y antígeno de superficie (HBsAg) del virus de la hepatitis B, contra el virus de la hepatitis C (VHC), contra el virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana (VIH) y contra Trypanosoma cruzi. Además, se efectuó la prueba de anticuerpos no treponémicos contra la sífilis y antígenos de Plasmodium falciparum y Plasmodium vivax. Del total de pacientes, 84 (23,6%) presentaron positividad para uno o más marcadores, siendo la distribución: 41(11,52%) reactivas para el Anti-HBc, 9 (2,53%) para HBsAg, 2 (0,56%) para VHC, 1 (0,28%) para T. cruzi y 31 (8,71%) para VDRL. Para VIH y Plasmodium no se encontraron casos positivos. Estos resultados demuestran que la población estudiada puede estar dentro del grupo clasificado como de alto riesgo para transmitir el VHB, sin excluir a las otras patologías que no deja de ser importante su despistaje para evitar así el riesgo de propagación de infecciones. Three-hundred fifty-six blood samples from apparently healthy donors at the University Hospital “Antonio Patricio de Alcalá” Blood Bank in Cumaná, Sucre, were evaluated for the prevalence of several blood-transmitted diseases. The presence of antibodies against the core (anti-HBc) and surface antigen (HBsAg) of the hepatitis B virus, the hepatitis C virus (HCV), the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and Trypanosoma cruzi was determined using ELISA. In addition, tests for non-treponemic antibodies against syphilis and antibodies against Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium vivax antigens were also carried out. From the total number of patients, 84 (23. 6%) were positive for one or more markers, distributed as follows: 41(11. 52%) reactive for Anti-HBc, 9 (2.53%) for HBsAg, 2 (0. 56%) for HCV, 1 (0. 28%) for T. cruzi and 31 (8.71%) for VDRL. No positive cases for HIV and Plasmodium were observed. These results demonstrate that the population studied could be classified as high risk for transmitting the HBV, without excluding other pathologies whose diagnosis is also important in order to avoid the risk of propagating infections.

Both animal and human studies have associated the endocannabinoid system with obesity and markers of metabolic dysfunction. Blockade of the cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) caused weight loss and reduction in waist size in both obese and type II diabetics. Recent studies on common variants of the CB1 receptor gene (CNR1) and the link to obesity have been conflicting. The aim of the present study was to evaluate whether selected common variants of the CNR1 are associated with measures of obesity and fat distribution.

Objective:Non-healing venous leg ulcers (VLUs) have a significant effect on patients' quality of life and substantially increase expenditures in health-care systems. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy of the Calendula officinalisextract, Plenusdermax, in the treatment of VLUs.Method:Patients treated with Calendula officinalisextract (n=38) and control patients (n=19) were evaluated every two weeks for 30 weeks or until their ulcers healed. Assessments included determination of the wound area by planimetry, infection control, and evaluation of the clinical aspects of the wounds. The percentage of healing velocity per week (%HVw), taking the initial area at baseline into account, was also determined.Results:The proportion of the treatment patients achieving complete epithelialisation was 72 % and 32 % in the treatment and control groups, respectively. The average healing time was approximately 12 weeks in the treatment group and 25 % in control patients. Patients with ulcers treated with Calendula officinalisextract had a significant 4-fold increase in percentage healing velocity per week, 7.4 %, compared with 1.7 % in the control group. No adverse events were observed during the Calendula officinalisextract treatment.Conclusion:Our findings indicate that Calendula officinalisextract is an effective treatment for VLUs.Declaration of interest:The authors have no conflict of interest.

- Abstract
This paper is a contribution to the understanding of the generation and transmission of pressure ripples in hydraulic systems. Previous research on fluid-borne pressure fluctuations in hydraulic systems has been largely directed towards high pressure lines. This paper examines the behaviour of the pressure fluctuations in axial piston and gear pump suction lines.It has been found that the unsteady flow taken in by a pump creates a standing wave in the inlet line in much the same way as a delivery line. The magnitudes of the pressure fluctuations are very sensitive to mean inlet pressure, due to changes in inlet flow ripple with mean pressure. No evidence of air release in the inlet line was found and it is concluded that at low inlet pressures air release occurs in the pump inlet passageway, although in microscopic proportions since no reduction in volumetric efficiency was observed. System air-borne noise was found to be very dependent on mean inlet pressure.

Physical activity is the basic factor to the human being in order to assume his place in society. Blind persons are often sedentary, which compromises its physical capacity. The present work evaluates the blind person's physical capacity, analysing possible differences related to sex, age and life time blindness. The sample was constituted by 27 blind (congenital and noncongenital), 18 male and 9 female, aged between 17 and 37 years old. To evaluate previous physical activity, a questionnaire, was answered which showed a dominant sedentary population. The maximum oxygen uptake was determined in a treadmill test using standard procedures (Bruce protocol). Medium results for boys were 45.85 +/- 8 ml/kg/min and for girls were 34.46 +/- 3.8 ml/kg/min. The difference between congenital and acquired blindness on the VO2max values was 2.9 ml/kg/min, not statistically significant (p = 0.468). Those findings lead us to consider that aerobic capacity mostly depends on type and intensity of physical exercise which may be temporary related to the onset of blindness and visual impairment degree.

Characterize power spectrum pattern of the heart rate variability and assessment of the relative contributions of sympathetic and parasympathetic cardiac nervous system control in athletes.Prospective study of athletes and sedentary healthy control group sex and age matched.8 athletes, 3 female and 5 male, swimming (4), canoeing (2) and cycling (2), aged 17.4 +/- 3.6 years, and 8 sedentary healthy controls. ECG signals were recorded after a period of 15 minutes in supine rest with controlled breathing at 15 cycles/min. Signal acquisition was done at 300 samples/sec. From 512 consecutive heart beats, we calculated the average, the standard deviation, the maximum and the minimum values and the rate between the longest and the shortest R-R interval (E/I). We also calculated, after computing the fast Fourier transform, the total spectrum power, the low frequency component (LF, from 0.01 to 0.15 Hz) and the high frequency component (HF, greater than 0.15 Hz) and its ratio (LF/HF).The average R-R interval was 921 +/- 154.2 msecs and 673.2 +/- 98 msecs, the standard deviation was 72.5 and 29.4 msecs and the ratio E/I 1.63 +/- 0.14 and 1.28 +/- 0.08, respectively for athletes and control group. Differences between groups were significant (p less than 0.01) for all parameters, with higher variability in the athletes. Both spectral bands (LF and HF) and higher power in athletes (LF = 0.54 +/- 0.23 and HF = 0.76 +/- 0.14) than in the control group (LF = 0.14 +/- 0.10 and HF = 0.18 +/- 0.15) (p less than 0.001). There were no significant differences for LF/HF ratio, or normalized LF (LF%) or normalized HF (HF%) between groups.The present results indicates higher power of both spectral bands (LF and HF) and higher amplitude of the respective peaks in athletes when compared with healthy sedentary, with a clear predominance of the HF band in the total spectral power density, which suggest that the higher heart rate variability observed in athletes reveals the predominance of parasympathetic activity, without reduction of the sympathetic tone.

The signal-averaged ECG became an important noninvasive method for identifying life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias. It is most accurate in patients with coronary artery disease and can be helpful in predicting whether a patient with an unexplained syncope or nonsustained VT is at risk of developing sustained ventricular tachycardia or not. A patient with an entirely normal signal-averaged ECG is at very low risk of sustained VT. In contrast, an abnormal signal-averaged ECG should raise suspicion about VT, and prompt further studies, including electrophysiological testing. Signal-averaged ECG can also be used repeatedly with acceptable reproducibility. Technological advances and improvements in the frequency analysis of the averaged signal may increase the predictive accuracy of the technique and consequently enhance its clinical applications.

Artisanal and small-scale gold mining (MAPEOs) are considered to be one of the main sources of mercury release into the environment. Considering the gold mining activities, this study evaluated the Hg concentration in 27 apiaries (Apis spp.) in the South of the Legal Amazon, Mato Grosso State, Brazil. A total of 243 samples distributed in 81 samples of bees, 81 beeswax, and 81 of honeys, collected between the months of July and November 2022, were analyzed. One bee sample showed Hg concentration above the limit of quantification (68.8 ng g
-1 ), 27 samples were between the limit of detection and limit of quantification (15 samples of bees, 8 of wax and 4 of honey). In all study areas, trace levels of Hg concentration were detected, 12 near MAPEOs areas and 16 near crop areas. It recorded that the honeys analyzed in this study in Mato Grosso are not contaminated by Hg, not offering any risk to consumers of the product. It is noteworthy that the use of bioindicator tools such as bees, beeswax, and honey is effective in relation to Hg monitoring in apiaries. Unraveling the boundaries of police physical fitness: normative values of police physical fitness based on a representative sample of 8000 federal highway police officers aged 21-70 years from Brazil. J Strength Cond Res XX(X): 000-000, 2024-To develop age- and sex-based normative tables related to physical fitness components (cardiorespiratory fitness, muscular endurance, and power) from a representative sample of the Brazilian police population. This analysis included archived data from 8,628 police officers evaluated in 4 physical fitness tests (PFTs) conducted in 2020. Cardiorespiratory fitness was assessed by a 12-minute run test, endurance by the 60-s sit-up and push-up tests, and lower-limb muscular power by standing broad jump test. Additive quantile regression was used to determine percentiles and estimate age-based charts for each test by sex. Reference values were described from these data. Significant differences between sexes for all measures of physical fitness ( p < 0.01, d = 0.14-1.68), except for upper-limb endurance, were observed ( p > 0.05, d = 0.05). There was a decline in performance in all measures of physical fitness among police officers of both sexes with advancing age categories, with younger groups performing better than older groups ( p < 0.05, d = 0.27-3.17). Age charts and curves were created using the output of quantile regression of reference values for cardiorespiratory fitness, abdominal and upper-limb endurance, and lower-limb power corresponding to the 10th, 20th, 40th, 60th, 80th, and 90th percentiles at all ages, for both sexes. Classificatory tables were presented by age and sex, with reference values for the tests using percentile values. Lower levels of physical fitness were observed with aging, and men exhibited higher overall values than women. The reference values presented can serve as a guide for interpreting the results of PFTs obtained by other police institutions and developing training programs to enhance health, fitness, and performance., (Copyright © 2024 National Strength and Conditioning Association.)

Mercury (Hg) is a non-essential trace metal, toxic to living beings and complex to quantify and mitigate in the environment. In this study, 25 plant species native to an Amazon-Cerrado transition area were tested for use in Hg remediation. Species identification, Hg quantification in plant biomass and soil at each sampling point, and evaluation of Hg compartmentalization in each plant were carried out. The results were subjected to statistical tests and evaluated using translocation coefficients (FT), bioconcentration (FBC), and bioaccumulation (FB). The results demonstrated that the distribution and accumulation of Hg differed between species and between the parts of the plant evaluated. Soil was the predominant source of Hg in the study area. The study highlighted seven species with Hg phytoremediation potential. Five translocator species were characterized, among these a preferentially bioaccumulating and bioconcentrating species, in addition to a bioconcentrating species and a preferentially bioconcentrating and bioaccumulating species of Hg. Potentially accumulating species stood out, Blechnum serrulatum Rich. (Blechnaceae), Mauritia flexuosa L.f. (Arecaceae), and Montrichardia arborescens (L.) Schott (Araceae), all widely distributed in tropical regions, characterized as rooted, terrestrial, or amphibious and associated with ruderal environments., Competing Interests: Declarations. 48. Utility of a high-intensity interval training app as a remote exercise support strategy in children with obesity: An exploratory study of adherence, effect, and perceptions of its use.

- Abstract
Objective: This study aimed to explore the utility of a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) app as a remote exercise support strategy in children with obesity through assessing adherence, possible effects on obesity-related outcomes, and perceptions of its use to support counseling and improve the treatment of children with obesity., Methods: Thirty-seven children (94.6% with obesity; 45.9% girls), with a mean age of 10.4 (±1.8) years and a mean body mass index (BMI) z-score of 3.31 (±1.09) were recruited to use the app during 6 weeks. Assessments were performed at baseline, 6 (end of intervention), and 12 weeks (follow up)., Results: Thirty-two (86.3%) participants completed both intervention and follow-up assessments and were analyzed. On average, children used the HIIT app 2.5 times per week (95% confidence interval (CI): 1.9 to 3.0), with the highest perceived exertion of 4.1 (95% CI: 3.6 to 4.5). No over-time differences were found in body composition, physical activity, screen time, sleep duration, or water intake after the intervention; however, an over-time decrease in sugary beverages intake (Δ-0.9, 95% CI: -1.6 to -0.1, p = .019). No differences in body composition were found at follow up. Although none of the children or parents perceived impairments in nutritional behavior, general wellbeing, or fitness as a consequence of intervention, most children (64.5%), but not parents, perceived improvements in nutritional behavior and general wellbeing., Conclusion: Although feasible, the 6-week effect of HIIT app use is modest or absent regarding body composition, movement, and nutritional behavior change, probably due to its low volume. More studies are needed to explore the utility of HIIT apps as a remote exercise support strategy for children with obesity further., (© The Author(s) 2024.)

- Abstract
Introduction: Neurodevelopmental disorders have a multifactorial etiology that results from the interaction between biological and environmental factors. The biological basis of many of these disorders is only partially understood, which makes therapeutic interventions, especially pharmacological ones, particularly difficult. The impact of medical cannabis on neurological and psychiatric disorders has been studied for a long time. This study aimed to review the currently available clinical and pre-clinical studies regarding the use of cannabinoids in pediatric neurodevelopmental disorders and to draw attention to the potential therapeutic role of cannabidiol in this field., Development: Cannabidiol is an endocannabinoid system modulator and exerts its effects on both developing and mature brains through numerous mechanisms. Cannabidiol holds a relatively high toxicity limit and current literature suggests that it may have anxiolytic, antipsychotic, and neuroprotective properties. Clinical evidence suggests that early treatment with cannabidiol might be a promising therapy for neurodevelopmental disorders, including intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorders, tics, and attention/deficit hyperactivity disorder., Conclusions: This review hopefully draws attention to an emerging body of evidence concerning cannabidiol's significant potential to safely improve many of the common symptoms affecting children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders, especially autism spectrum disorder.
