Background: Given the need to consider different assessors’ perspectives in research on child and adolescent developmental psychopathology and the underrepresentation of fathers in that area, this 10-year longitudinal study examines adolescents with resilient and maladaptive development from the perspectives of their mothers and fathers as well as the adolescents themselves. Objective: The central aim of this study is to compare the results depending on the assessor’s perspective. Methods: The study sample consists of N = 343 children who were examined first in kindergarten (age M = 4 years) and then 10 years later in adolescence. Results: At measurement time pre, 24% of the children belonged to the group with early childhood developmental risks; 61% of these showed resilient development over 10 years from the mothers’ perspective; 68% were resilient from the fathers’ perspective, and 62% from the adolescents’ own perspective. The agreement between mother and father ratings was good (κ = 0.63), whereas agreement between adolescents and their parents was low (mother: κ = 0.30, father: κ = 0.33). Across the three raters’ perspectives, differences between the resilient and maladaptive adolescents were found in 60% of the longitudinal prognostic characteristics, demonstrating at least small effects. The results differed depending on the perspective of the rater. Conclusions: To avoid a rater bias in developmental psychopathology research, different perspectives are needed, especially those of the mother, father and, as far as possible, also those of the children or adolescents.

When compared with mothers, fathers continue to be considerably underrepresented in developmental research on child and adolescent psychopathology. The present study examined the factors contributing to fathers’ participation in such studies in which both mothers and fathers were asked to participate. The sample consisted of 477 families which were examined four times over the course of ten years (Pre to Follow-up after ten years [FU10]). The average age of the children at Pre was 4 years, and that of the adolescents ten years later was 14 years (FU10). On average, 70.4% of fathers participated in the assessments. The average transition probability for participation over four assessment points was 93.1%. Fathers from two-parent families participated significantly more often than fathers from single-parent families. Household income, a good father-adolescent relationship, and joint custody, if applicable, were related to paternal participation. For fathers from two-parent families, participation at previous assessment points was the decisive predictor. For fathers from single-parent families, the relationship between the adolescent and the father was the decisive predictor. Fathers who had participated in previous assessments remained involved in the study over the long run. Therefore, the primary goal should be to encourage as many fathers as possible to participate when starting clinical empirical studies. Monetary incentives could be used to recruit families with low household incomes.

Every year, students around the globe embark upon their higher education journey, making the onboarding of these students a critical task for colleges and universities. Combined with the growth in distance learning and the rapid development in technologies, the onboarding process occurs increasingly in the digital setting. For this reason, the objective of this scoping review was to report and map interventions, which are used in digital onboarding of first-year students in higher education institutions and explore the digital settings that characterized these interventions. The PRISMA-ScR Guidelines and the JBI Manual for Evidence Synthesis guided this investigation, which included researching four databases and screening the resulting titles and abstracts to identify the 17 sources of evidence included in the final analysis. According to our results, digital and virtual onboarding interventions were categorized into four onboarding dimensions: information interventions, socialization interventions, counseling interventions, and self-study interventions. Examples of the purposes and outcomes of these onboarding interventions included the transfer of information and the socialization of incoming students. Of the five onboarding settings that were also identified in the categorization, telecommunication software and virtual environments predominated. An independently developed onboarding tool could combine the identified onboarding settings and dimensions in the future.

Background Adherence and motivation are key factors for successful treatment of patients with chronic diseases, especially in long-term care processes like rehabilitation. However, only a few patients achieve good treatment adherence. The causes are manifold. Adherence-influencing factors vary depending on indications, therapies, and individuals. Positive and negative effects are rarely confirmed or even contradictory. An ontology seems to be convenient to represent existing knowledge in this domain and to make it available for information retrieval. Methods First, a manual data extraction of current knowledge in the domain of treatment adherence in rehabilitation was conducted. Data was retrieved from various sources, including basic literature, scientific publications, and health behavior models. Second, all adherence and motivation factors identified were formalized according to the ontology development methodology METHONTOLOGY. This comprises the specification, conceptualization, formalization, and implementation of the ontology “Ontology for factors influencing therapy adherence to rehabilitation” (OnTARi) in Protégé. A taxonomy-oriented evaluation was conducted by two domain experts. Results OnTARi includes 281 classes implemented in ontology web language, ten object properties, 22 data properties, 1440 logical axioms, 244 individuals, and 1023 annotations. Six higher-level classes are differentiated: (1) Adherence, (2) AdherenceFactors, (3) AdherenceFactorCategory, (4) Rehabilitation, (5) RehabilitationForm, and (6) RehabilitationType. By means of the class AdherenceFactors 227 adherence factors, thereof 49 hard factors, are represented. Each factor involves a proper description, synonyms, possibly existing acronyms, and a German translation. OnTARi illustrates links between adherence factors through 160 influences-relations. Description logic queries implemented in Protégé allow multiple targeted requests, e.g., for the extraction of adherence factors in a specific rehabilitation area. Conclusions With OnTARi, a generic reference model was built to represent potential adherence and motivation factors and their interrelations in rehabilitation of patients with chronic diseases. In terms of information retrieval, this formalization can serve as a basis for implementation and adaptation of conventional rehabilitative measures, taking into account (patient-specific) adherence factors. OnTARi also enables the development of medical assistance systems to increase motivation and adherence in rehabilitation processes.

Large parts of contemporary research on pro-environmental behavior focus on mechanistic explanations and mental constructs. Exclusive reliance on this approach may hinder the search for novel solutions to conceptual problems, more powerful methods, and innovative behavior change interventions. Theoretical diversity, on the other hand, can render a field adaptive in its responses to crises and impasses. Against this background, we describe the complementary approach of behavior analysis and its potential contributions to problems of contemporary research on pro-environmental behavior. Behavior analysis (1) provides a consistent account of phenomena that are difficult to reconcile with the mechanistic perspective, (2) redirects the spotlight to context, (3) provides a framework and methodology for assessing behavior with actual environmental impact, and (4) could inspire the development of new intervention techniques. Verschiedene motivationale Orientierungen von Lehramtsstudierenden haben sich als entscheidend für die Kompetenzentwicklung im Lehramtsstudium erwiesen (Baumert & Kunter, 2011; Hanfstingl & Mayr, 2007; Schaarschmidt, 2005). Die Motiv-Kongruenz bezieht sich auf die sich auf die Passung zwischen impliziten und expliziten Motiven in den Inhaltsdomänen Leistung, Macht und Affiliation (McClelland et al., 1989) und beeinflusst das Wohlbefinden, die Handlungsregulation und Leistungs- bzw. Erfolgskriterien in verschiedenen Kontexten (Baumann et al., 2005; Brunstein et al., 1998; Kehr, 2004). Für Lehrkräfte hat sich u. a. gezeigt, dass Motiv-Kongruenz in der Machtdomäne mit dem höchsten Wohlbefinden verbunden ist (Wagner, Baumann & Hank, 2016). In der vorliegenden Studie wurde untersucht, ob Motiv-Kongruenz bereits als Eingangsvoraussetzung in Zusammenhang mit der Kompetenzentwicklung in der Studieneingangsphase und im Schulpraktikum des Lehramtsstudiums steht. Zur Untersuchung dieser Fragestellung wurde eine Längsschnittuntersuchung durchgeführt, wozu zu Studienbeginn bei N = 80 Lehramtsstudierenden einmalig die impliziten Motive (TAT/PSE) und die expliziten Motive (PRF) in den drei Motivdomänen erfasst wurden. Die Motive bzw. Motiv-Kongruenz wurden in Beziehung gesetzt zu Kriterien des Wohlbefindens, der Handlungsregulation und des Studienerfolgs, die zu vier Messzeitpunkten im Studienverlauf erhoben wurden, wodurch auch Veränderungen in den Kriterien über die Studienphasen hinweg betrachtet werden konnten. Die Auswertung erfolgte durch polynomiale Regressionsanalysen mit Response Surface Analysis (RSA; Schönbrodt, 2016). Insgesamt zeigten sich nur wenige statistisch signifikante und erwartungskonforme Befunde. In der Studieneingangsphase war Motiv-Kongruenz in der Affiliationsdomäne erwartungsgemäß mit höherem Wohlbefinden und höherer Studienzufriedenheit assoziiert, wohingegen Motiv-Kongruenz in der Machtdomäne zwar zu Studienbeginn erwartungswidrig mit einer ungünstigeren Handlungsregulation einherging, aber im weiteren Studienverlauf erwartungsgemäß positiv mit dem Wohlbefinden assoziiert war. Im Schulpraktikum zeigten sich fast keine signifikanten Effekte mit Ausnahme von Hinweisen auf die Bedeutung der Leistungs- und Machtdomänen für den Dropout nach dem Schulpraktikum. Darüber hinaus zeigten sich viele Fälle, in denen nicht Motiv-Kongruenz, sondern erwartungswidrige Konfigurationen impliziter und expliziter Motive in der Affiliations- und Machtdomäne mit der günstigsten Kompetenzentwicklung einhergingen. Die Befunde aus dieser Arbeit können nur eingeschränkt als Hinweise für die Bedeutung der Motiv-Kongruenz für die Kompetenzentwicklung im Lehramtsstudium interpretiert werden. Trotzdem lässt sich insgesamt ableiten, dass das Zusammenwirken von Macht- und Affiliationsmotiven bedeutsam ist und sowohl in der individuellen Laufbahn von Lehramtsstudierenden als auch in der Gestaltung des Lehramtsstudiums berücksichtigt werden sollten. Einschränkend ist zu berücksichtigen, dass die Aussagekraft der Befunde durch methodische Limitationen wie die geringe Stichprobengröße und Power der Analysen, insbesondere im Schulpraktikum, eingeschränkt ist und dass noch weitere Untersuchungen zur Motiv-Kongruenz im Lehramtsstudium notwendig sind, um allgemein gültige Erkenntnisse abzuleiten., Different motivational orientations of student teachers have been shown to be crucial for competence development in teacher education (Baumert & Kunter, 2011; Hanfstingl & Mayr, 2007; Schaarschmidt, 2005). Motive congruence refers to the fit between implicit motives and explicit motives in the content domains of achievement, power, and affiliation (McClelland et al., 1989) and influences well-being, action regulation, and measures of performance or success in different contexts (Baumann et al., 2005; Brunstein et al., 1998; Kehr, 2004). For teachers, motive congruence in the power domain has been shown to be associated with the highest well-being (Wagner, Baumann & Hank, 2016). The present study investigated whether motive congruence as an entry requirement is related to professional development in the entry phase and school internship of student teaching. A longitudinal study was conducted to investigate this question. At the beginning of the study, the implicit motives (TAT/PSE) and the explicit motives (PRF) in the three motive domains were recorded once for N = 80 student teachers and related to criteria of well-being, action regulation, and study success, which were recorded at four measurement points in the further course of the study, which also made it possible to observe changes in the criteria across the study phases. Polynomial regression analyses with response surface analysis (RSA; Schönbrodt, 2016) were used for analysis. Overall, few statistically significant and expectation-compliant findings emerged. In the study entry phase, motive congruence in the affiliation domain was associated with higher well-being and higher study satisfaction, as expected, whereas motive congruence in the power domain was, contrary to expectations, associated with less favorable action regulation at the beginning of teacher education but was, in line with expectations, positively associated with well-being in the further course of the study. Almost no significant effects emerged in the school internship except for indications of the importance of the performance and power domains for dropout after the school internship. Moreover, many cases showed that not motive congruence, but rather other configurations of implicit and explicit motives in the affiliation and power domains that were contrary to expectations were associated with the most favorable professional development. The findings from this work can only be interpreted to a limited extent as evidence for the importance of motive congruence for competence development in teacher education. Nevertheless, overall it can be deduced that the interaction of power and affiliation motives is significant and should be taken into account both in the individual careers of student teachers and in the design of the student teaching program. It should be noted that the validity of the findings is limited by methodological limitations such as the small sample size and power of the analyses, especially regarding the school internship, and that further research on motive congruence in student teachers is necessary to derive generally valid findings.

Virtual Reality bietet innerhalb der Produktentwicklung ein hohes Potential, um Produkte in kürzeren Iterationszyklen kostengünstiger herzustellen. Jedoch birgt Virtual Reality auch die Gefahr, dass virtuell getroffene Entscheidungen in die Realität übertragen werden, ohne dass diese zuvor auf Plausibilität geprüft werden. Virtual Reality kann die Realität nicht perfekt imitieren und weist bezüglich aller Aspekte der menschlichen Wahrnehmung deutliche Unterschiede auf. Offen ist allerdings, inwieweit dies die Übertragbarkeit der Bewertung der Usability und User Experience substanziell einschränkt oder verändert. Diese Frage wird daher im Rahmen dieser Dissertation anhand eines virtuellen Infotainmentsystems untersucht. Ein Hauptbestandteil dieser Untersuchungen ist das Konstrukt der Präsenz, also das Gefühl, in einer virtuellen Welt zu sein und diese als real anzunehmen. Mithilfe eines hohen Präsenzlevels ist es theoretisch möglich, realistische Entscheidungen in der Virtual Reality zu treffen. Wie im Rahmen von Nutzerstudien das Präsenzgefühl erhöht werden kann, um realitätsnahe virtuelle Bewertungen zu erzielen, ist ebenfalls Bestandteil dieser Dissertation. Haptisches Feedback stellt im Rahmen der Bewertung einer Mensch-Maschine-Schnittstelle sowie der Präsenzentstehung einen kritischen Faktor dar. Aus diesem Grund wird die Einsatzmöglichkeit von computer-generiertem haptischen Feedback in einer virtuellen Umgebung anhand von 45 Probanden evaluiert. Die Ergebnisse dieser Studie zeigen die Verbesserung der Greifqualität beim Spüren haptischen Feedbacks. Allerdings wird auch der mangelnde Realismus von computer-generiertem Feedback im Rahmen dieser Studie deutlich. In den weiteren Untersuchungen dieser Dissertation wird das haptische Feedback daher durch die Implementierung realer physischer Objekte umgesetzt. Da das Einmessen realer Objekte in eine virtuelle Umgebung häufig eine Herausforderung darstellt, wird der Einfluss einer visuell-haptischen Inkongruenz mit Hilfe von 44 Probanden untersucht. Diese Inkongruenz zeigt keinen Einfluss auf das Präsenzgefühl sowie auf die Bewertungen der Usability und User Experience. Es wird jedoch ein positiver Zusammenhang zwischen der Präsenz und den Bewertungen sowie ein negativer zwischen der Präsenz und dem wahrgenommenen Workload deutlich. Um einen negativen Einfluss des Workloads tiefer zu untersuchen, wird in einer weiteren Studie mit 53 Probanden die Ausführbarkeit von parallelen Aufgaben überprüft. Hierbei wird ein Anstieg des Workloads durch die Ausführung einer Nebenaufgabe deutlich. Eine Beeinflussung der Präsenz sowie der Nutzerbewertungen findet jedoch nicht statt. Des Weiteren wird in Form eines Trainings und einer Akklimatisierungsphase eine mögliche Reduzierung des Workloads mit Hilfe von 85 Probanden untersucht. Es zeigt sich dabei, dass weder der Workload noch die Präsenz oder die Nutzerbewertungen von einem Training profitieren. Jedoch benötigten Probanden, die im Vorfeld der Untersuchung eine Akklimatisierungsphase oder ein Training absolvierten ebenso viele Klicks, um eine Aufgabe abzuschließen, wie Probanden in einer realen Bedingung. Für Probanden, die kein Training erhielten, trifft dies nicht zu. Die Vergleichbarkeit zwischen realen und virtuellen Bewertungen kann nicht in jeder dieser Studien bestätigt werden. Lediglich in der letzten Studie kann kein Unterschied zwischen den realen und virtuellen Bewertungen der Usability und User Experience identifiziert werden. Die Verbesserung der Vergleichbarkeit der Ergebnisse lässt sich dabei jedoch nicht auf das subjektive Präsenzgefühl und die vorgenommenen Manipulationen, wie eine visuell-haptische Kongruenz, die Erhöhung des Workloads oder das Training von Interaktionen, zurückführen. Die Untersuchungen dieser Dissertation zeigen vielmehr, dass Virtual Reality dann für die Bewertung virtueller Konzepte geeignet ist, wenn die technischen Faktoren des Systems, wie die Qualität der visuellen Ausgabe und die Performance der Workstation, in einer hohen Güte vorliegen. Es werden jedoch auch Faktoren deutlich, die eine weitere Verbesserung der technischen Systeme zulassen. Beispielsweise zeigen das Tracking der Hände des Nutzers und die Leserlichkeit der Inhalte des Infotainmentsystems weiteres Optimierungspotential auf. Durch die stetige Weiterentwicklung der technischen Systeme werden auch diese Faktoren in Zukunft in noch besserer Qualität vorliegen. Aus diesem Grund ist mit der Markteinführung neuer Virtual-Reality-Systeme auch eine Fortführung der Validierung von Nutzerstudien in dem Bereich der Usability und User Experience von großem Interesse., Virtual Reality offers a high potential in a product development process in order to manufacture products in shorter iteration cycles and more cost-efficiently. However, Virtual Reality also poses the risk that decisions made virtually are transferred to reality without being scrutinized regarding plausibility before. In fact, virtual reality cannot perfectly imitate reality and differs significantly in all aspects of human perception. Nevertheless, it remains open to what extent this substantially limits the transferability of the evaluation of Usability and User Experience. This question is therefore investigated in this dissertation using a virtual infotainment system. A main part of this research is the construct of presence, i.e. the feeling of being in a virtual world and accepting it as real. With the help of a high level of presence it is theoretically possible to make decisions that are close to those made in reality. How to increase the sense of presence in user studies in order to achieve realistic virtual assessments is also part of this dissertation. Haptic feedback has been identified as a critical factor in the evaluation of human-machine interfaces as well as in the development of presence. For this reason, the feasibility of using computer-generated haptic feedback in a virtual environment is evaluated based on 45 participants. The results of this study show the improvement of grasp quality when sensing haptic feedback. Furthermore, the lack of realism of computer-generated feedback is evident in the context of this study. Therefore, in the further studies of this dissertation, haptic feedback is realized by implementing real physical objects into the virtual environment. Since fitting real objects into a virtual environment is often challenging, the influence of a visual-haptic feedback mismatch is investigated with the help of 44 participants. An incongruence does not show any influence on the sense of presence as well as on the assessments of Usability and User Experience. However, a positive correlation between presence and user assessments as well as a negative correlation between presence and workload becomes apparent. In order to investigate a negative influence of workload, the ability to execute parallel tasks is examined in a further study with 53 participants. In this study an increase of the workload becomes notable by the execution of a secondary task. However, there is no influence on presence and user assessments. Furthermore, a reduction of workload in form of a training or an acclimatization is examined based on 85 participants. It is shown that neither workload nor presence nor user assessments benefit from a training. Nonetheless, subjects who completed an acclimatization or a training prior to the study needed as many clicks to complete a task as subjects in a real-world condition. This is not true for subjects who experienced no training at all. The comparability between real and virtual assessments cannot be confirmed in each of the studies. Only in the final one there is no difference between real and virtual assessments of Usability and User Experience identifiable. However, the improvement in the comparability of the assessments cannot be attributed to the sense of presence and the manipulations performed, such as a visual-haptic congruence, an increase of workload, or the training of virtual interactions. Instead the analyses of this dissertation show that virtual reality is appropriate for the evaluation of virtual concepts if the technical factors of the system, like the quality of the visual output and the performance of the workstation, are presented in a high quality. Nevertheless, factors that allow further improvement of the technical system also become apparent. For example the tracking of the user´s hand and the readability of the content of the infotainment system show additional potential for optimization. Due to the ongoing dynamic development of Virtual Reality technology, these factors will also be available in even better quality in the future. For this reason continuous research on the validity of user studies in the area of usability and user experience is of great interest with the release of new Virtual Reality systems.

Weltweit erleben Individuen alltäglich Stress in verschiedenen Situationen. Der entstehende Stresszustand beschränkt sich nicht nur auf die Ursprungssituation, sondern kann in anschließende Situationen übergehen und sich im Laufe des Tages mit zusätzlichem Stress unabhängig vom Ursprung und der Art des Stresses kumulieren. Geht Stress in dieser Weise in eine Mobilitätssituation über oder kumuliert mit Fahrstress, kann dies zu Einbußen in der Fahrsicherheit führen. Da Mobilität mit einem Wechsel zwischen örtlichen und damit häufig auch mentalen Kontexten einhergeht, können diese Situationen während Mobilität regelmäßig auftreten, sodass Mobilität ein besonderer Stellenwert zukommt. Bis dato lagen Forschungsschwerpunkte auf der Detektion und Reduzierung von Stress aus der Fahraufgabe, während andere, in die Fahrt mitgebrachte Arten von Stress, im Mobilitätskontext größtenteils unerforscht waren. Es ergaben sich demnach zwei Forschungslücken: Die Messung verschiedener Arten von Stress im Fahrzeugkontext sowie Stressmanagementinterventionen für verschiedene Arten von Stress im Fahrzeugkontext. In dieser Arbeit wurden daher die notwendigen Komponenten für ein Stressmanagementsystem für verschiedene Arten von Stress in einem Fahrzeug entwickelt. Dazu gehörte zunächst die Definition der relevanten Arten von Stress und die Evaluation von Messmethoden für diese verschiedenen Arten von Stress im Fahrzeug. In einem Fahrsimulator wurden darauf aufbauend elf Parameter ermittelt, welche geringen von hohem physischen, psychischen, sozialen und kognitiven Stress im Rahmen der Fahraufgabe erfolgreich unterschieden. Dabei handelte es sich um physiologische Maße – Herzaktivität, elektrodermale Aktivität, Muskelaktivität, Atmung, Pupillendurchmesser – und Fragebogenmaße. Anschließend wurden die Interventionen Positive Psychologie und Biofeedback im Fahrzeugkontext entwickelt und – zunächst im stationären Fahrzeug, danach während manueller Fahrt – evaluiert. Im stationären Fahrzeug konnten Positive Psychologie, Biofeedback aber auch die Kontrollbedingung Stress im Vergleich zu einer Stressinduktion mit der Stroop-Aufgabe reduzieren. Allerdings ergaben sich keine Unterschiede zwischen den Interventionsbedingungen inklusive der Kontrollbedingung. Während der manuellen Fahrt wurde Stress erfolgreich durch Positive Psychologie und die Kontrollbedingung ohne Sekundäraufgabe reduziert, die aktuelle Implementierung von Biofeedback reduzierte Stress während der manuellen Fahrt hingegen nicht. Ein circa einmonatiges Training der Interventionen hatte keinen Effekt. Die Ergebnisse unterstreichen die Wichtigkeit einer gezielten Entwicklung von Stressmanagementinterventionen für den Fahrkontext, bei welcher Anforderungen der Fahraufgaben einbezogen werden. Mit den drei Komponenten des Stressmanagement-Regelkreises – den über die Fahraufgabe hinausgehenden, relevanten Stresszuständen, der Messung des Stresses und den Interventionen gegen Stress – kann ein Stressmanagementsystem im Fahrzeug aufgebaut werden. Zukünftige Forschung können weiterführende Quantifizierungsmöglichkeiten über reduzierte Parameterauswahlen, kabellose Messtechniken und differenzierte Erkennung verschiedener Arten von Stress oder die Weiterentwicklung der Interventionen – in Breite und Tiefe – sein., Individuals all over the world experience stress in various daily situations. Stress is not limited to the situation it evolved from, but can spill over into subsequent situations and accumulate over the course of the day regardless of its origin or type. When stress spills over to mobility or accumulates with driving stress, this can lead to impairments in driving safety. These situations can occur regularly since mobility is associated with changes in place and thereby also mental shifts between contexts. Therefore mobility is a situation of particular interest. To date, research has focused on the detection and reduction of stress originating from the driving task, while other types of stress were largely unexplored. Thereby two research gaps were relevant for this thesis: The measurement of different types of stress in the context of driving and stress management interventions for different types of stress in the context of driving. In this thesis, the necessary components for a stress management system for different types of stress in a vehicle were developed. This included the definition of relevant types of stress and the evaluation of measurement methods for these different types of stress in the vehicle. In a driving simulator, eleven parameters were determined, which successfully distinguished low from high physical, psychological, social stress, and cognitive stress in the context of the driving task. These measures were physiological measures – heart activity, electrodermal activity, muscle activity, breathing, pupil diameter – and questionnaires. Subsequently, the interventions Positive Psychology and Biofeedback were developed for the vehicle context and evaluated first in a stationary vehicle and then during manual driving. In the stationary vehicle, Positive Psychology, Biofeedback, as well as the control condition resulted in stress state reductions compared to a stress induction with the Stroop task. However, there were no differences between the different intervention conditions, including the control condition. During manual driving, stress was successfully reduced by Positive Psychology and the control condition without secondary task, while the current implementation of Biofeedback was incompatible with the manual driving task. A one month training period of the interventions did not have an effect on the results. These findings underline the importance of a targeted development of stress management interventions for the driving context by taking into account demands of the driving task. The three components of the stress control loop – the relevant stress states that go beyond driving-related stress, the measurement of stress and the interventions against stress – can now be set up as a stress management system in the vehicle. Future research can focus on further quantification possibilities via reduced parameter selections, wireless measurement techniques, and differentiated detection of different types of stress or the further development of interventions – in width and depth.

Lehrkr��ften und ihrem Interventionshandeln kann bei der Entstehung von Mobbing eine besondere Rolle zukommen, wobei eine ausreichend ausgepr��gte Interventionskompetenz bedeutsam ist. Aus welchen Komponenten diese Interventionskompetenz aber konkret besteht, ist nicht eindeutig gekl��rt. Aus der Literatur ist ein Modell bekannt, welches vorschl��gt, dass sich Interventionskompetenz aus den Bereichen Wissen, ��berzeugung, Motivation und Selbstregulation zusammensetzt. Zur Motivation k��nnen dabei alle Aspekte gez��hlt werden, die Intensit��t und Art eines Verhaltens beschreiben. Dazu geh��ren die Selbstwirksamkeitserwartung und die Empathie der Lehrkr��fte. Auch die Selbstregulation kann unter der international anschlussf��higen Perspektive von Prozessen der Zielauswahl und -verfolgung der Motivation zugeordnet werden. Damit kommt der motivationalen Orientierung eine besondere Bedeutung als nicht-kognitiver Teil der Interventionskompetenz zu. Ausgehend von diesen Annahmen wurde in der vorliegenden Arbeit der Kompetenzbereich der Motivation als Teil der Interventionskompetenz von Lehrkr��ften bei Mobbing n��her untersucht. Dazu wurde ein spezifisches Kompetenzstrukturmodell entwickelt. Mit den Befunden von f��nf Publikationen sowie erg��nzenden Analysen wurde dieses theoretisch abgeleitete Modell empirisch ��berpr��ft. Es wurde untersucht, welche Zusammenh��nge zwischen mobbingbezogener Selbstwirksamkeitserwartung, Selbstregulation (operationalisiert durch die zwei Dimensionen Locomotion und Assessment) und Empathie und dem Interventionshandeln von Lehrkr��ften sowie den Mobbingerfahrungen der Sch��ler:innen bestehen. Zun��chst erfolgte eine systematische Untersuchung des vergleichsweise umfangreichen Forschungsstandes zur Selbstwirksamkeitserwartung von Lehrkr��ften im Mobbingkontext. Anschlie��end wurden Daten von 556 Lehrkr��ften und 2.071 Sch��ler:innen aus einer 2014 durchgef��hrten Querschnittstudie in Sachsen analysiert. Das Interventionshandeln der Lehrkr��fte wurde dabei auf retrospektiv berichtete Mobbingsituationen bezogen, welche von den Lehrkr��ften und den Sch��ler:innen geschildert wurden. Logistische, zum Teil mehrebenenanalytische Regressionsanalysen wurden durchgef��hrt. Die Befunde zeigten, dass nur die Selbstwirksamkeitserwartung der Lehrkr��fte mit einer h��heren Interventionswahrscheinlichkeit aus Selbstsicht der Lehrkr��fte in Verbindung stand. Sch��ler:innen, deren Klassenlehrkr��fte eine h��here Selbstwirksamkeitserwartung und eine h��here Neigung zu ��berlegtem, selbstevaluierendem Verhalten (Assessment-Orientierung des Selbstregulation) zeigten, berichteten geringere Mobbingerfahrungen. Sch��ler:innen, deren Lehrkr��fte schnell und weniger ��berlegt handelten (Locomotion-Orientierung der Selbstregulation), berichteten dagegen von st��rkerem Mobbingaufkommen. Als besonders bedeutsam f��r die Mobbingerfahrungen der Sch��ler:innen zeigte sich zudem die Sicht der Sch��ler:innen auf die Interventionswahrscheinlichkeit der Lehrkr��fte., Bullying among students is a special form of aggression that occurs repeatedly over a long time with the intention to harm. Bullying occurs in a complex social context of which not only the students, but also the teachers are part. Teachers can act as role models and socialisation partners for the students and thus influence the attitudes and actions of students. To fulfil the professional task of intervention in bullying situations successfully, teachers must have sufficient intervention competence. However, the concrete components of this intervention competence are not clear yet. There is one known model in the literature assuming that intervention competence consists of knowledge, beliefs, motivation, and self-regulation. Motivation can include all aspects that influence if, with which intensity, and how people act. In the context of bullying intervention, this includes self-efficacy and empathy. When defined as a goal-oriented process, self-regulation can also be assigned to motivation. Thus, motivational orientation is of particular importance as a non-cognitive part of intervention competence. Based on these assumptions, the present study examined motivation as a part of teacher intervention competence. Using the findings of five publications as well as supplementary analyses, the connections between bullying-related self-efficacy, self-regulation (following the Regulatory Mode Theory assessed with two dimensions called locomotion and assessment), empathy, and the intervention behaviour of teachers as well as students��� bullying experiences were analysed. First, the current state of research regarding teachers��� self-efficacy in bullying was systematically reviewed. Besides, data from 556 teachers and their 2,071 students from a cross-sectional study conducted in Saxony in 2014 were analysed. Teachers��� intervention behaviour was analysed in connection with retrospectively reported bullying situations chosen by the teachers and the students individually. Data were analysed using logistic regression analyses that were conducted in multilevel models when student and teacher data were connected. Findings showed that teachers��� self-efficacy was associated with teachers��� likelihood of intervention from the teachers��� perspectives. Also, students whose form tutors reported higher self-efficacy and a higher tendency to reflect their behaviours thoroughly and choose wisely (assessment orientation of self-regulation) reported fewer bullying experiences. In contrast, students whose teachers acted quickly and were less self-critical (locomotion orientation of self-regulation) reported higher incidences of bullying. The students��� perspective on the teachers��� likelihood of intervention was associated with all types of bullying experiences (as bullies, bullied, and bully-victims). However, the likelihood of intervention from the students��� perspective was not related to the teachers��� motivational orientation that was investigated.

Studies of energy conservation efforts to reduce CO2 emissions in the residential sector are abundant; however similar efforts in organizations have not received as much attention as they deserve. In this study, we focus on methods for increasing employees’ readiness to change their behaviors in favor of energy conservation, specifically examining the use of guided group discussions (GGDs). We use observational research methods to examine the micro-level of behavioral dynamics and understand the emergence of change readiness. We describe how facilitators (“change agents”) can conduct GGDs and foster employees’ change readiness using the established communication approach of Motivational Interviewing (MI). We also explore how employees can increase each other’s change readiness regarding energy conservation behavior. Based on our sample of eight videotaped GGDs (5430 behavioral events), interaction analysis reveals that solution-focused communication elicits change readiness in employees, whereas problem-focused communication prompts resistance to change. We further show that employees can motivate their co-workers to express “green” intentions: when employees verbalized statements in favor of energy saving, this increased other employees’ change readiness, while verbalized statements against energy saving had the opposite effect. This demonstrates that GGD participants are active individuals who can spark behavior change in their co-workers. Finally, based on our findings we propose several communication guidelines for working with groups and discuss the importance of solution-focused energy management practices to facilitate change readiness for energy saving in the workplace.

To meet the changing competence requirements for employees in engineering professions, education and training need to adapt accordingly. Learning factories offer various possibilities to design or integrate practice-oriented learning into training measures. Whether this approach in fact facilitates learning and competence development is rarely investigated. For this reason, the objective of this scoping review is to analyze and summarize the existing empirical findings on learning success and competence development in learning factories regarding their evaluation methods and results. Following standardized guidelines (PRISMA, JBI) for scoping reviews, 12 databases were researched. The literature screening led to the identification of 24 publications included in the final analysis. The results indicate that a variety of evaluation methods are used to assess learning and competences at learning factories and that criteria of all four competence facets (professional, methodological, social, and self-competence) can be enhanced at learning factories in general. As many of the identified studies show potential for improvement regarding the quality of the used methods and analysis of results, further studies on these topics are needed. Evaluations should be integrated into all training measures at learning factories to ensure learning success and competence development and to be able to readjust design, structure, and didactics where necessary.

Background Childbirth fear and interventions during childbirth might be related to the mindset and knowledge non-pregnant women have regarding childbirth. Non-pregnant women before their first birth experience may be particularly at risk for childbirth fear. Methods The present study examined the expressions and associations of birth-related mindset, knowledge, and fear among 316 young, non-pregnant women without birth experience. They participated in a cross-sectional online study and completed the Childbirth Fear Prior to Pregnancy, the Mindset and Birth Questionnaire, and a birth knowledge test. Results Most women (44%) had a natural mindset and low fear, 29% had a medical mindset and low fear, 8% natural mindset and higher fear, and 19% medical mindset and higher fear. There were no differences in knowledge between the four groups. Some gaps in knowledge appeared concerning signs of beginning birth, and non-medical approaches to pain relief. From women with natural mindset and low childbirth fear, a higher percentage (13%) has already watched a birth, as compared to the other groups. Natural mindset was associated with lower childbirth fear, whereas knowledge was independent from childbirth fear. Higher knowledge was low associated with natural mindset. Mindset and childbirth fear were independent from age and education degree. Conclusions Gynecologists, midwifes and other health professionals may develop an awareness for birth as a natural event in their non-pregnant patients, and take birth-related fear into account in their counseling, with focus on women’s self-efficacy and non-medical approaches to pain relief.

The Theory of Planned Behavior (Ajzen, 1991) has recently gained some heightened attention in the traffic safety community in predicting risky behavior. On the other hand, infrastructure layout has often been shown to influence road user behavior in direct ways in traffic observations. In an online survey, 108 holders (81% female) of a valid car-driving license reported on their attitude, social norms, and perceived behavioral control towards overtaking bicycle riders with a smaller than legal margin. Additionally, they rated their willingness to overtake a bicycle rider as well as perceived risk for six traffic sketches. In these sketches, infrastructure layout was systematically varied on two dimensions: (1) streets with or without a center-line between directions of travel and (2) streets marked with either a cycle lane, an advisory lane for bicycle riders or none of these. A repeated measures ANOVA with center line and cycling street markings as independent variables and attitude, social norms, and perceived behavioral control as covariates showed that intention to overtake was only influenced by street markings and the interaction of attitude and street markings, showing that intention to overtake was higher with markings than without, and even higher when attitude towards illegally small distances to overtake was more positive. Ratings of risk while overtaking were only influenced by street markings, showing that ratings of risk were lower for any of the marked designs than those without. Data analysis suggests that personal motivations play a far less important role in the intention to overtake bicycle riders with a non-safe distance than infrastructure designs do. Even the judgement of risk for a given situation seems to be influenced by some markings on the street but not by personal motivations.

Hochautomatisiertes Fahren erfordert an Systemgrenzen die Kontrollübernahme durch den Fahrer. In der Literatur werden dafür Übernahmezeiten von im Schnitt 8 Sekunden berichtet. Eine 8sekündige Vorhersage kann im Kontext hochveränderlicher Fahrsituationen einerseits und dem Bestreben tatsächlich alle möglichen Systemgrenzen abdecken zu können andererseits, zu häufigen „falschen Alarmen“ führen, indem sich die Situation so entwickelt, dass gar kein Fahrereingriff nötig ist. Dies kann zu einem Cry Wolf Effekt und zu einem generellen Missvertrauen in die Automation führen. Basierend auf der Lerntheorie der Evidenzevaluation wird angenommen, dass über die Gestaltung einer Rückmeldung Einfluss auf die Zusammenhangshypothese über die Beziehung zwischen Alarm und möglicher Folge genommen werden kann. Kann man die Zusammenhangshypothese so gestalten, dass sie initial beide Konsequenzen, das Erreichen einer Systemgrenze aber auch deren Ausbleiben, im Konzept vorsieht, besteht die Möglichkeit einen Cry Wolf Effekt zu minimieren. Die Rückmeldung von Automationsunsicherheit scheint geeignet genau eine solche Zusammenhangshypothese zu bilden. Dies wurde in 3 Fahrsimulatorstudien in einem einfachen Fahrsimulator überprüft. Dazu wurde ein Konditionierungsparadigma genutzt. In diesem erlebten Versuchspersonen während der Fahrt mit einer Automationsunterstützung der Längs- und Querführung wiederholt Situationen, in denen Alarme geäußert wurden, die Automation aber dennoch situationsangemessen reagierte. Durch Variation der Häufigkeit der erlebten falschen Alarme wurde ein Cry Wolf Effekt evoziert. Es wurden folgende Parameter variiert. Die Art der Rückmeldungsgestaltung vor allem Unsicherheitsrückmeldung und konventionell gestaltete Alarme, die Häufigkeit der erlebten falschen Alarme, der Einfluss positiver Evidenz, also tatsächlicher Automationsfehler nach einem Alarm. Zur Messung des Cry Wolf Effektes wurden die Kontrollierbarkeit eines tatsächlichen Automationsfehlers, die Verteilung der Aufmerksamkeit zwischen Fahr- und einer Nebenaufgabe in Rückmeldungssituationen und das erlebte Vertrauen in die Automation genutzt. Es zeigte sich, dass eine Unsicherheitsrückmeldung nicht resistent, aber robuster gegenüber einem Cry Wolf Effekt ist als konventionell gestaltete Übernahmeaufforderungen. Auch situationsspezifische Einflussfaktoren spielen eine Rolle. Eine Rückmeldung vor einem Automationsfehler kann zudem das Entstehen von Misstrauen in die Automation verringern., Highly automated driving requires the driver to take control at system limits. In the literature, takeover times of an average of 8 seconds are reported. An 8-second forecast in the context of highly variable driving situations on the one hand and the endeavor to actually cover all possible system limits on the other hand can lead to frequent "false alarms" because the situation develops in such a way that no driver intervention is necessary. This can lead to a cry wolf effect and general mistrust in automation. Based on the learning theory of evidence evaluation, it is assumed that the design of a feedback can influence the hypothesis of the relationship between alarm and possible consequence. If the correlation hypothesis can be designed in such a way that multiple outcomes of an alarm the reaching of a system limit on the one hand and the absence thereof on the other hand are possible, there is the possibility of minimizing a Cry Wolf effect. The feedback from automation uncertainty seems suitable to form precisely such a correlation hypothesis. This was verified in 3 studies in a simple driving simulator. A conditioning paradigm was used for this. In this, test persons repeatedly experienced situations during the journey with automation support for the longitudinal and lateral guidance in which alarms were issued, but the automation nevertheless reacted appropriately to the situation. A cry wolf effect was evoked by varying the frequency of false alarms experienced. The following parameters were varied. The type of feedback design, especially uncertainty feedback and conventionally designed alarms, the frequency of false alarms experienced, the influence of positive evidence, i.e. actual automation errors after an alarm. To measure the Cry Wolf effect, the controllability of an actual automation error, the distribution of attention between driving and a secondary task in feedback situations and the trust experienced in the automation were used. It turned out that an uncertainty feedback is not resistant, but more robust to a Cry Wolf effect than conventionally designed takeover requests. Situation-specific influencing factors also play a role. A feedback before an automation error can also reduce the emergence of distrust in the automation.

In the future, highly automated vehicles will be introduced in road traffic, first on highways, and later in urban areas. The introduction will result in a long transition phase with mixed traffic. This transition phase poses new challenges for humans as passengers inside highly automated vehicles and for humans as drivers interacting with these vehicles in mixed traffic. Thus far, human drivers lack experience with highly automated vehicles and driving in mixed traffic. In addition, it can be expected that highly automated vehicles will drive in a more rule-compliant and defensive way than human drivers. This may cause conflicts with human drivers in mixed traffic, and lead to passenger discomfort and perceived risk. This dissertation investigated how humans react to highly automated vehicles in mixed traffic, taking both inside perspective of passengers and the outside perspective of human drivers into account. To this end, four psychological experiments. From the outside perspective, this dissertation investigated human drivers’ first contact with highly automated vehicles in dyadic interactions on the highway (Study 1) and repeated contact on longer highway sections (Study 2). Results showed that human drivers rate the rule-compliant automated driving behavior as pleasant and safe in dyadic interactions. However, human drivers feel slowed down by preceding highly automated vehicles on longer stretches of highway, which can be a potential hazard. Furthermore, an external labelling of highly automated vehicles may be recommendable in the long run. From the inside perspective of passengers, this dissertation investigated urban mixed traffic interactions with cyclists and pedestrians in longitudinal traffic (Study 3) and at a junction (Study 4). Results show that passengers do not accept any risk during highly automated driving and passengers want an early behavioral reaction of the highly automated vehicle to vulnerable road users in the driving environment. Across the four studies, the present dissertation shows that highly automated vehicles drive noticeably differently, which both passengers and manual drivers can perceive. However, highly automated driving behavior is perceived as unpleasant at maximum, but not as dangerous. When designing highly automated driving functions, both driver and passenger preferences should be considered equally. Future studies should examine the preferences of human road users regarding automated driving behavior., In Zukunft werden hochautomatisierte Fahrzeuge im Straßenverkehr eingeführt, zunächst auf der Autobahn, und später auch im urbanen Raum. Die Einführung dieser Technologie resultiert in einer langen Übergangsphase mit Mischverkehr. Dieser Übergang stellt Menschen als Passagiere und Fahrer vor neue Herausforderungen. Bislang fehlt Fahrern die Erfahrung mit hochautomatisierten Fahrzeugen und dem Fahren im Mischverkehr. Zudem ist zu erwarten, dass sich hochautomatisierte Fahrzeuge regelkonformer und defensiver fahren als menschliche Fahrer. Das könnte zu Konflikten mit anderen Verkehrsteilnehmern, und zu Diskomfort und Risikoerleben beim Passagier führen. Diese Dissertation untersuchte mithilfe von psychologischen Experimenten wie menschliche Fahrer auf hochautomatisierte Systeme aus der Passagiersicht und aus der Außensicht als manuelle Fahrer im Mischverkehr reagieren. Ein weiteres Ziel war es zu verstehen, wie hochautomatisierte Fahrzeuge fahren sollen, damit sich Passagiere sicher fühlen. Aus der Außensicht menschlicher Fahrer untersuchte diese Dissertation den Erstkontakt mit hochautomatisierten Fahrzeugen in dyadischen Interaktionen (Studie 1) und im wiederholten Kontakt (Studie 2) auf längeren Autobahnabschnitten. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass Fahrer das regelkonforme hochautomatisierte Fahrverhalten in dyadischen Interaktionen als angenehm und sicher bewerten. Allerdings fühlen sich Fahrer auf längeren Strecken ausgebremst, wodurch ein Gefahrenpotenzial entsteht kann. Weiterhin ist eine Außenkennzeichnung auf längere Sicht zu empfehlen. Aus der Passagiersicht untersuchte diese Dissertation urbane Mischverkehrsinteraktion im longitudinalen Verkehr (Studie 3) und an einer Einmündung (Studie 4). Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass Passagiere keinerlei Risiko eingehen wollen und sich eine frühzeitige Verhaltensreaktion des hochautomatisierten Fahrzeugs auf schwächere Verkehrsteilnehmer in die Fahrumgebung wünschen. Studienübergreifend zeigt sich, dass hochautomatisierte Fahrzeuge merklich anders fahren, was Passagiere als auch für manuelle Fahrer wahrnehmen können. Automatisiertes Fahrverhalten wird aber maximal als unangenehm, nicht als gefährlich bewertet. Bei der technischen Auslegung automatisierter Fahrfunktionen sollten die Präferenzen von Fahrern und Passagieren gleichermaßen berücksichtigt werden. Zukünftige Studien sollten die Präferenzen anderer menschlicher Verkehrsteilnehmer im Hinblick auf das Verhalten automatisierter Fahrzeuge weiter untersuchen.

Unter widrigen Wetterverhältnissen wie Nebel oder Schneefall verschlechtern sich insbesondere nachts die Sichtbedingungen durch veränderte Erkennbarkeitsentfernungen oder Eigenblendung dramatisch (Schlag, Petermann, Weller & Schulze, 2009). Für die Person am Steuer ist die Erkennbarkeit des Straßenraums deutlich erschwert. Der resultierende Informationsmangel kann die Ursache für Fehlentscheidungen mit Unfallfolge sein (Vollrath, 2010). Das Ziel der Forschung im Bereich automobiler Lichttechnik ist die Entwicklung neuartiger Lichtsysteme, die den Fahrer oder die Fahrerin durch eine spezifische situations¬angepasste Ausleuchtung des Straßenraums unterstützen (Wördenweber, Wallaschek, Boyce & Hoffman, 2007). Die Entwicklung adaptiver, hochaufgelöster Scheinwerfer ermöglicht eine schnelle und flexible - da nicht mechanische, sondern digitale - Anpassung der Scheinwerferlichtverteilung an die aktuelle Situation (Duhme & Fischer, 2017; Hansen, 2018; Rosenhahn, 2018). Unter diesen technischen Rahmenbe¬dingungen ist die Umsetzung angepasster Lichtfunktionen für diverse Situationen möglich. Im Rahmen der vorliegenden Arbeit wurden angepasste Lichtverteilungen für nächtliche Nebelsituationen entwickelt und evaluiert. Zunächst wurden messtechnische Untersuchungen mit natürlichem und künstlichem Nebel durchgeführt, um zu prüfen, ob das methodische Setting statischer Untersuchungen mit künstlichem Nebel geeignet ist. Dazu wurden in beiden Untersuchungsumgebungen Leuchtdichteaufnahmen von einem grauen Personen¬aufsteller gemacht und das Visibility Level des Objekts in Abhängigkeit der Lichtverteilung bestimmt. Es konnte eine zufriedenstellende Übereinstimmung gezeigt werden. Das Setting wurde folglich für zwei Evaluationsstudien mit Testpersonen verwendet. Der Einfluss der Parameter Reichweite, Lichtstrom unterhalb der Hell-Dunkel-Grenze und Lichtstrom im Vorfeld der Lichtverteilung auf die Sichtver-hältnisse in nächtlichen Nebelsituationen wurde in einer ersten Evaluationsstudie untersucht. Es zeigten sich bedeutsame Unterschiede in der Detektions¬entfernung eines Zielobjekts sowie in der subjektiven Bewertung zwischen den Lichtverteilungen. Auf der Basis der Ergebnisse wurden drei Lichtver¬teilungen abgeleitet, die sich als günstig für die Sichtverhältnisse gezeigt hatten. In einer weiteren Evaluationsstudie wurden diese drei angepassten Lichtverteilungen mit konventionellen Lichtver¬teilungen verglichen. Dabei zeigte sich, dass durch eine Anpassung der Lichtverteilung eine Verbesserung der Sichtverhältnisse insbesondere gegenüber Nebelscheinwerfern, aber auch gegenüber Abblendlicht und Fernlicht erzielt werden kann. Die Forschungsergebnisse zeigen somit das Potential, die Sichtverhältnisse in Schlechtwettersituationen durch eine Anpassung der Lichtverteilung zu verbessern. Zukünftige Forschung muss die gefundenen Ergebnisse in einem dynamischen Setting überprüfen., Especially at night visibility conditions deteriorate dramatically under adverse weather conditions such as fog or snowfall and alter recognition distance or self-glare (Schlag et al., 2009). For the driver, the visibility of the traffic environment is considerably more difficult. The resulting lack of information can be the cause of wrong decisions with consequential accidents (Vollrath, 2010). The aim of research in the field of automotive lighting technology is to develop new lighting systems that support the driver by providing specific, situation-adapted illumination of the road (Wördenweber et al., 2007). The development of adaptive, high-resolution headlamps enables a fast and flexible - since not mechanical but digital - adaptation of the headlamp light distribution to the current situation (Duhme & Fischer, 2017; Hansen, 2018; Rosenhahn, 2018). Under these technical conditions, the implementation of adapted lighting functions for various situations is possible. In the context of the present work, adapted light distributions for night fog situations were developed and evaluated. At first, measurement-based investigations with natural and artificial fog were carried out to test whether the methodical setting of static investigations with artificial fog is suitable. For this purpose, luminance images were taken in both investigation environments from a grey person's stand-up and the visibility level of the object was determined in relation to the light distribution. A satisfactory correspondence could be shown. The setting was therefore used for two evaluation studies with test persons. The influence of the light distribution’s parameters range, luminous flux below the cut-off line and luminous flux in the apron on visibility in night-time fog situations was investigated in a first evaluation study. Significant differences were found in the detection distance of a target object as well as in the subjective evaluation between the light distributions. Based on the results, three light distributions were derived which suggest to be favorable for the visibility conditions. In a complementary evaluation study these three adjusted light distributions were compared with conventional light distributions. It was shown that by adjusting the light distribution an improvement of visibility conditions can be achieved, especially compared to fog lights, but also to low and high beam. The research results thus show the potential to improve visibility in adverse weather situations by adjusting the light distribution. Future research must verify the results in a dynamic setting.

Most of our knowledge related to how social exclusion affects those who ostracize and those who are being ostracized is based on questionnaires administered after the ostracism situation is over. In this research, we strived to further our understanding of the internal dynamics of an ostracism situation. We therefore examined individuals' language-specifically, function words-as a behavior indicative of psychological processes and emergent states that can be unobtrusively recorded right in the situation. In online chats, 128 participants talked about a personal topic in groups of three. In the experimental group (n = 79), two conversation partners ignored every contribution by the third. We found that, compared to the control group, these targets of ostracism used language indicative of a self-focus and worsened mood, but not of social focus or positivity, although positivity was related to a writer's likeability. Sources of ostracism used language suggesting that they were distancing themselves from the situation, and they further engaged in victim derogation. We discuss how our results highlight the severity and potential self-sustainability of ostracism.

Background Mental health problems (MHP) in children and adolescents (CA) are common. This longitudinal study analyzed the prevalence, course, and persistence of MHP over 10 years from childhood into adolescence based on a sample from the Future Family project (N = 230). Methods At the pre-assessment point the children were on average 5 (SE = 1) and the mothers 35 (SE = 5) years old. Descriptive methods, Chi2-tests, binary logistic regression, and different analytical approaches (number chains, transition probability) were used. Results Approximately 24% of the CA suffered from borderline clinical or clinically relevant MHP. The largest proportion of the sample was stable healthy (70%), whereas 15% of the CA showed chronic mentally ill, 8% transient, 4% negative and 4% positive courses. The mental health of the mother proved to be a decisive predictor for chronic mentally ill courses. Short-term persistence rates ranged between 60 and 70% from one assessment point to the next one. On the other hand, long-term persistence rates (from childhood into adolescence) were lower (51–59%). Conclusion One in seven children in this sample suffered from chronic MHP, while only one third of the CA in Germany with clinically relevant MHP take advantage of psychological or psychiatric care. Prevention programs should be considered as an effective and economic approach to reduce childhood suffering in Germany.

Die Gesundheit von Mitarbeitenden am Arbeitsplatz ist ein Thema, das vor dem Hintergrund des demografischen Wandels und der zunehmenden Forderung nach sozialer Verantwortung in ökonomischen Kontexten in vielen Industrienationen zusehends an Relevanz gewinnt. Ein klares Bekenntnis für die Mitarbeitendengesundheit stellen proaktive Programme der betrieblichen Gesundheitsförderung und des Gesundheitsmanagements dar. Für externe Unternehmen, Institutionen und ganz besonders für Endverbraucher bleiben diese Programme in der Regel allerdings intransparent. Verbraucher können die proaktive Fürsorge der Unternehmen nicht durch ihr Konsumverhalten honorieren, betrieblichen Partnern ist es nur vereinzelt möglich, kooperative Programme zu etablieren und hier Synergien zu nutzen und staatlichen Institutionen fällt es schwer, Regulierungen sinnvoll anzupassen. Vor diesem Hintergrund wurden viele in Deutschland gängige Label daraufhin überprüft, welche Einschätzung sie über die Gesundheitsförderung und das Gesundheitsmanagement des zertifizierten Unternehmens erlauben. Die Arbeit endet mit einer Evaluation der vielversprechendsten Label und einer politischen Empfehlung.

A considerable number of children and adolescents with social anxiety disorder (SAD) do not benefit from treatment as much as expected. However, treatment success should not be measured with social anxiety reports alone; the cognitive, behavioral, and physiological components of social stress should also be assessed. The authors examined an exposure-based SAD-specific group cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in a randomized controlled trial (N = 67, age 9–13 years, blind randomized allocation to treatment [CBT; n = 31] and waitlist control [WLC; n = 36] groups). Success was operationalized as a clinically significant reduction of symptoms measured with SAD-specific questionnaires, structured interviews, and changes in response to the Trier Social Stress Test (TSST). In the CBT group, there was a trend toward a significant increase in positive cognitions in the TSST after treatment (d = 0.37), whereas these positive cognitions decreased in the WLC group (d = 0.40). No significant results involving group appeared for negative cognitions, behavior and physiology. Children in the CBT group, but not parents, further reported less social anxiety in one questionnaire from pre- to post-treatment (d = 0.89). A structured interview confirmed a decrease in severity of SAD in the CBT group. While the gold standard of a blind interview showed efficacy of treatment, not all trait and state measures demonstrated similar success patterns.Trial registration Eligibility criteria and some of the dependent variables (cognitions, physiology) for treatment success were registered with the German Research Foundation (TU 78/5-2, HE 3342/4-2) prior to recruitment. Clinical assessment of diagnosis and behavioral data were not a priori planned as outcome measures for this trial and therefore analyzed in a post-hoc approach.

Core Self-Evaluations (CSE) ist ein aus Neurotizismus/emotionaler Stabilität, generalisierter Selbstwirksamkeitserwartung, Selbstwertgefühl und internaler Kontrollüberzeugung zusammengesetztes Konstrukt. Es hat sich bisher vor allem in arbeitspsychologischen Zusammenhängen bewährt. Ziel ist es, mit der allgemeinen Core Self-Evaluations-Skala (ACSES) eine modifizierte Fassung der G-CSES (Heilmann & Jonas, 2010) zu schaffen, die CSE auch in anderen Kontexten messbar macht, und sie empirisch zu überprüfen. Mit Daten von 239 Studierenden werden Itemanalysen durchgeführt, die Faktorenstruktur geprüft sowie anhand von Teilstichproben die Beziehungen zu Drittvariablen ermittelt. Die ACSES weist eine hohe interne Konsistenz (α = .82) und die erwartete einfaktorielle Struktur auf. Es zeigen sich signifikante Zusammenhänge zu Gewissenhaftigkeit (r = .33), Extraversion (r = .42), Beanspruchung (r = -.40; jeweils N = 81) und Leistungsmotivation (Furcht vor Misserfolg: r = -.49; Hoffnung auf Erfolg: r = .28; N = 170), die den bereits nachgewiesenen Bezie-hungen der Originalskala ähneln. Damit kann die ACSES als geeignete bereichs-übergreifende Skala zur Messung von CSE angesehen werden.

Optimismus und Core Self-Evaluations (CSE) sind positiv mit Extraversion verbunden. Unklar ist bisher, wie diese Beziehung zustande kommt. Bezugnehmend auf die PSI-Theorie (Kuhl, 2001) und die Selbstregulationstheorie (Carver & Scheier, 2001) wird erwartet, dass positive Affektivität diesen Zusammenhang vermittelt. In einer Befragung von 191 Studierenden (93 weiblich) werden Optimismus (LOT-R), CSE (ACSES), positive Affektivität (bzw. Euthymie; STADI-T) und Extraversion (NEO-FFI-30) erhoben und die Daten mittels Regressionsanalysen nach Baron und Kenny (1986) auf den erwarteten Mediationseffekt untersucht. Für CSE wird der Zu-sammenhang zu Extraversion vollständig, für Optimismus annähernd vollständig über Euthymie vermittelt. Optimismus weist allerdings einen engeren Zusammen-hang zu Euthymie (r = .46) und Extraversion (r = .43) auf als CSE (r = .37 bzw. r = .32; jeweils p < .05). In einem multiplen Regressionsmodell, gemeinsamen mit Optimismus, trägt CSE zwar zur Erklärung von Euthymie, nicht jedoch von Extraversion bei. Optimismus weist insgesamt eine höhere Erklärungskraft auf, die auf die größere inhaltliche Breite des Konstrukts zurückgeführt wird, die den Einfluss von CSE auf Euthymie und Extraversion weitgehend einschließt. Insgesamt deuten die Ergebnisse jedoch darauf hin, dass positive Affektivität den Zusammenhang zwischen Optimismus, CSE und Extraversion erklärt und eine Mediatorfunktion ausübt.

Der Beitrag gliedert sich grob in drei Teile: Zunächst wird (1.) das BMBF-Projekt MIKROBIB vorgestellt: in seiner Bedeutung für die Sammlungsforschung und entsprechend auch für den neuen Querschnittsbereich RECOLLECT der BWG. Dabei wird auf den zweiten Teil vorausgewiesen, in dem dann (2.) Zwischenergebnisse aus dem philosophischen Teilprojekt skizziert werden. Zu ihm gehört die Erforschung der Göttinger Anfänge der Deutschen Sammlung von Mikroorganismen (DSM), die heute DSMZ heißt und in Braunschweig lokalisiert ist. Spatial-numerical associations (SNAs) have been studied extensively in the past two decades, always requiring either explicit magnitude processing or explicit spatial-directional processing. This means that the typical finding of an association of small numbers with left or bottom space and of larger numbers with right or top space could be due to these requirements and not the conceptual representation of numbers. The present study compares explicit and implicit magnitude processing in an implicit spatial-directional task and identifies SNAs as artefacts of either explicit magnitude processing or explicit spatial- directional processing; they do not reveal spatial-conceptual links. This finding requires revision of current accounts of the relationship between numbers and space.

BACKGROUND: Work capacity demands are a concept to describe which psychological capacities are required in a job. Assessing psychological work capacity demands is of specific importance when mental health problems at work endanger work ability. Exploring psychological work capacity demands is the basis for mental hazard analysis or rehabilitative action, e.g. in terms of work adjustment. OBJECTIVE: This is the first study investigating psychological work capacity demands in rehabilitation patients with and without mental disorders. METHODS: A structured interview on psychological work capacity demands (Mini-ICF-Work; Muschalla, 2015; Linden et al., 2015) was done with 166 rehabilitation patients of working age. All interviews were done by a state-licensed socio-medically trained psychotherapist. Inter-rater-reliability was assessed by determining agreement in independent co-rating in 65 interviews. For discriminant validity purposes, participants filled in the Short Questionnaire for Work Analysis (KFZA, Prumper et al.,1994). RESULTS: In different professional fields, different psychological work capacity demands were of importance. The Mini-ICF-Work capacity dimensions reflect different aspects than the KFZA. Patients with mental disorders were longer on sick leave and had worse work ability prognosis than patients without mental disorders, although both groups reported similar work capacity demands. CONCLUSIONS: Psychological work demands - which are highly relevant for work ability prognosis and work adjustment processes - can be explored and differentiated in terms of psychological capacity demands.

Arbeitsbezogene Ängste gehen oft mit Arbeitsplatzproblemen einher oder mit Langzeitarbeitsunfähigkeit. Psychopathologisch-differentialdiagnostisch können arbeitsbezogene Sorgenängste, phobische Ängste, Insuffizienzängste und krankheitsbezogene Ängste unterschieden werden. Eine Evaluation arbeitsorientierter Behandlungsansätze zeigte, dass die Beschäftigung mit dem Thema Arbeit während einer stationären Reha für den weiteren Verlauf günstig wirkt. In arbeitsbezogenen Fähigkeiten-Trainings oder einer verhaltenstherapeutischen Behandlung können typische Alltagsphänomene am Arbeitsplatz geübt werden (Selbstpräsentation, Soziale Spielregeln im Rudel, Arbeitsorganisation und Problemlösen, Umgang mit chronischer Erkrankung und Beeinträchtigung). Initiatives Verhalten und Kommunikation (dem Chef verständlich machen was das Problem ist) sind hilfreich, ebenso wie ggf. Erwartungskorrekturen und Normalisierung von alltäglichen Arbeitsproblemen (Alltagskonflikte und Anforderungen dürfen vorkommen und sind normal)., Work-anxieties are often going along with workplace problems and long-term sick leave. Psychopathologically, different qualities of work anxiety can be distinguished: worrying, phobic anxiety, health-related anxiety, anxiety of insufficiency. An evaluation of a work-anxiety treatment showed that confronting patients with the topic work during medical rehabilitation leads to a better course. In work-oriented capacity trainings or behavior therapy groups, coping with everyday phenomena at work may be trained (self-presentation, social rules, work organization and problem solving, coping with chronic illness and impairment conditions). Active coping and communication (explaining impairment to the supervisor and occupational physician for making problem solving possible) are helpful. In some cases, correction of expectations must be done, and normalizing everyday work problems (conflicts and achievement requirements are normal at work, work does not make happy all the time).

Background/Objective The present research investigated potential effects of mindfulness training on emotion regulation and mood of future schoolteachers in a nonrandomized pre–post design, and whether these are influenced by the yoga component of mindfulness‐based stress reduction (MBSR) and/or by homework practice. Method N = 169 university students received either mindfulness training (experimental groups), awareness activities (active control group), or no training (passive control group), in the context of university seminars. Allocation to groups was bound by the seminar chosen by participants, and in that sense was self‐selected. Mindfulness was trained in two adapted MBSR courses, one of which including yoga, and the other excluding yoga. Results Specific benefits of both mindfulness training groups were observed for emotion regulation in terms of an increase in cognitive reappraisal and a reduction in symptom‐focused rumination as well as depressive mood. No benefits of mindfulness training were observed for reductions in expressive suppression, self‐focused rumination, anxious, and negative mood or an increase in distraction and positive mood respectively. Mindfulness training with and without yoga was mostly equally effective. Outcomes were largely not moderated by practice quantity or quality, but reductions in depressive mood were mediated by gains in reappraisal and distraction. Conclusions Mindfulness training can be implemented in the context of university seminars to foster advantageous emotion regulation strategies and lower depressive mood in future schoolteachers. Discontinuing yoga within mindfulness interventions does not seem to reduce training benefits.

In the early career phase of higher education, the social relationships with peers are a critical source of developmental support. Peer support relationships tend to be reciprocal and multiplex, such that the actors of the relationships both give and receive multiple facets of developmental support from one another. However, reciprocity and multiplexity alone cannot cover ties that are anti-aligned across the layers of the multiplex network (i.e., one type of support received, and another type of support given in exchange). Therefore, the goal of this study is to integrate reciprocity and multiplexity in order to give consideration to such real-world multilayer relationships. We transferred the approach on multireciprocity introduced by Gemmetto et al. (Phys Rev E 94: 042316, 2016) to weighted network data of 61 university students and explored the possible beneficial effect of reciprocity, multiplexity, and multireciprocity in terms of career outcomes (i.e., objective performance, subjective performance, satisfaction with life). Results revealed no general benefit of mutuality and balance in support relationships. Rather, positive effects emerged for specific constellations of mutuality and support types. Career support in combination with socioemotional support showed to be particularly relevant for early career factors.

Das Mini-ICF-Rating für Aktivitäts- und Partizipationsbeeinträchtigungen erleichtert das Bewerten von psychischen Einschränkungen. Damit unterstützt es Befund, Verhaltensbeobachtung und Behandlungsplanung von Erwachsenen mit psychischen Erkrankungen. Wie das Instrument funktioniert, erklären die Entwickler des Assessments.

In Deutschland werden herausragende Lehrkräfte jedes Jahr mit dem deutschen Lehrerpreis ausgezeichnet. Diese Auszeichnung wird nicht nur für guten und innovativen Unterricht verliehen, sondern insbesondere aufgrund der positiven Ausgestaltung zwischenmenschlicher Beziehungen zu den Schülerinnen und Schülern. Laut den Initiatoren des Wettbewerbs zeichnet sich eine gute Lehrkraft dadurch aus, dass sie geduldig zuhört und mit Stress umgehen kann, offen redet, fair kritisiert und selbst Kritik annimmt sowie aufgeschlossen ist und sich im Gespräch auf andere einlässt. Für die Auszeichnung nominierte Lehrkräfte wurden im Jahr 2018 von ihren Schülerinnen und Schülern beispielsweise ‚wie eine Freundin, der man vertrauen kann‘ bezeichnet oder durch ihr ‚außergewöhnliches Gespür für uns Schüler‘ beschrieben. In einer Befragung an gymnasialen Oberstufen zeigten Kanning und Gärtner (2008) ebenfalls den starken Einfluss zwischenmenschlicher Kompetenzen, die einen Großteil der Varianz in der Zufriedenheit der Schülerinnen und Schüler aufklären konnte. Jedoch ist gerade die Gestaltung der Interaktionen und zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen zu den Schülerinnen und Schülern ein Aspekt des Lehrerberufs, der insbesondere für Berufseinsteigerinnen und -einsteiger eine große Herausforderung darstellt und häufig mit Problemen einhergeht. Eine aktuelle Untersuchung zu den täglichen Ressourcen und Stressoren von Lehrkräften zeigte, dass sich die meisten genannten Stressoren beim Unterrichten ereigneten, wohingegen auf weitere Tätigkeiten wie Vor- und Nachbereitung oder Organisation nur ein Bruchteil der Nennungen entfiel (Schmidt, Klusmann, Lüdtke, Möller & Kunter, 2017). Probleme in der sozialen Interaktion mit den Schülerinnen und Schülern betreffen vorwiegend Aspekte der Klassenführung, Disziplinprobleme, aber auch die Bewältigung aufkommender Konflikte (Chaplain, 2008; Dicke, Parker et al., 2015; Kyriacou, 2001; Veenman, 1984). Zudem gestaltet sich der Aufbau einer positiven Lehrer-Schüler-Beziehung als herausfordernd. Eine problematische Lehrer-Schüler-Beziehung geht hierbei mit negativem emotionalen Erleben einher (Frenzel, 2014; Hargreaves, 2000), wohingegen gelingende Interaktionen und Beziehungen mit einem höheren Wohlbefinden sowie einer höheren Motivation der Lehrkraft assoziiert sind (Goddard, Hoy & Woolfolk Hoy, 2004; Klassen, Perry & Frenzel, 2012; Schmidt et al, 2017; Spilt, Koomen & Thijs, 2011). Die erfolgreiche Begegnung mit der sozialen Komplexität und der emotionalen Intensität des Lehrerberufs wird unter anderem durch individuelle Merkmale der Lehrkraft bedingt. Auch für die sozial-emotionale Kompetenz der Lehrkraft wird angenommen, dass sie den positiven Umgang mit Schülerinnen und Schülern, die Qualität der Lehrer-Schüler-Beziehung sowie das berufliche Wohlbefinden determiniert (Jennings & Greenberg, 2009; Roeser, Skinner, Beers & Jennings, 2012). Die sozial-emotionale Kompetenz ist hierbei als ein multidimensionales Konstrukt zu verstehen, das deklaratives Wissen und Handlungskompetenzen zum korrekten Erkennen und dem angemessenen Umgang mit eigenen Emotionen, zur Perspektivenübernahme sowie zum Aufbau und Erhalt positiv gestalteter Beziehungen umfasst (Elias et al., 1997; Zins, Bloodworth, Weissberg & Walberg, 2004). Sie gilt grundsätzlich als förderbares Personenmerkmal, das insbesondere unerfahrenen Lehrkräften als Ressource dienen könnte (Palomera, Fernández-Berrocal & Brackett, 2008; Rothland, 2010). In der Lehrkräftebildung wird die Förderung der sozial-emotionalen Kompetenz allerdings noch nicht systematisch adressiert (Hohenstein, Zimmermann, Kleickmann, Köller & Möller, 2014; Schonert-Reichl, Hanson-Peterson & Hymel, 2015), sodass angehende Lehrkräfte in der Regel kaum auf diesen hochrelevanten Bereich des Lehrerberufs vorbereitet werden. Die vorliegende Arbeit rückt die Betrachtung der sozial-emotionalen Kompetenz von (angehenden) Lehrkräften in den Fokus und verfolgt zwei übergeordnete Ziele, die in drei empirischen Teilstudien adressiert werden. Erstens wird die prädiktive Validität sozial-emotionaler Kompetenz für das berufliche Wohlbefinden von Lehrkräften im Vorbereitungsdienst untersucht. Zweitens sollen die natürliche Entwicklung und spezifische Förderung sozial-emotionaler Kompetenz bei Lehramtsstudierenden untersucht werden. Hierzu werden sowohl der Beitrag der regulären universitären Ausbildung zur Entwicklung sozial-emotionaler Kompetenz als auch ihre Förderung durch ein spezifisches Trainingsprogramm betrachtet, das im Rahmen dieser Arbeit konzipiert wurde. Der theoretische Teil der Arbeit bereitet die empirischen Studien vor, indem zunächst das Konzept der sozial-emotionalen Kompetenz eingeführt und ihre Relevanz für den Schulkontext herausgestellt wird. Außerdem erfolgt eine Beschreibung des Trainingsprogramms. Abschließend werden in der Diskussion die Ergebnisse der empirischen Studien zusammengefasst und ihre Implikationen für Forschung und Praxis dargestellt.

Die zunehmende Automatisierung der Fahrzeuge verspricht viele Vorteile, wie die Reduktion von Emissionen oder einen erhöhten Komfort. Die Erwartungen der Bevölkerung an das automatisierte Fahren sind hoch. Demgegenüber stehen Ängste. Eine Herausforderung, die gerade in der Übergangsphase zum autonomen Fahren im Vordergrund steht, ist die Kommunikation im Mischverkehr zwischen menschlichen und automatisierten Fahrzeugen. Hierfür muss eine Lösung gefunden werden, damit das automatisierte Fahrzeug von den umgebenden Verkehrsteilnehmern verstanden und akzeptiert wird. Die Frage über den Umgang mit derartigen Situationen wurde bereits von mehreren Autoren aufgeworfen. Lösungsvorschläge in der Entwicklung von Fahrstrategien gehen in Richtung des kooperativen Fahrens, beleuchten dabei aber die psychologische Komponente zu wenig, zum einen die informelle aktive Kommunikation zwischen Menschen, zum anderen auch die Attribution während der Interaktion. Die vorliegende Arbeit liefert hierfür einen interdisziplinären Ansatz. Ziel ist es Handlungsempfehlungen für die Gestaltung einer verhaltensbasierten Fahrstrategie basierend auf psychologischen Erkenntnissen und Theorien geben. Ein Anwendungsbeispiel, das zu den komplexesten Szenarien auf der Autobahn gehört und ein erhöhtes Maß an koordinierter Abstimmung erfordert ist ein Fahrstreifenwechselszenario im Niedriggeschwindigkeitsbereich auf der Autobahn. Dieser wurde aus Einscherer- und Folgefahrerperspektive in drei Studien im Fahrsimulator beleuchtet. Im ersten Schritt wurde untersucht wie Menschen in einer derartigen Situation miteinander kommunizieren und wie dies jeweils aus beiden Perspektiven wahrgenommen wurde. Dabei wurde genauer analysiert, was in diesem Kontext eine eindeutige und kooperative Kommunikation ausmacht und wie dies anhand von Fahrparametern objektiviert werden kann.In einem zweiten Schritt wurden die Ergebnisse für den betrachteten Anwendungsfall in Form eines neuen Brems- und Spurwechselalgorithmus in die bestehende Verkehrssimulation integriert und mit den Ursprungsstrategien im Fahrsimulator verglichen. Diesmal lag der Fokus auf der Interaktion zwischen menschlichen und autonomen Fahrzeugen. Es zeigte sich, dass die neu entwickelten Strategien besser bewertet wurden. Die Studien unterstreichen die Wichtigkeit und Notwendigkeit psychologische Aspekte bei der Entwicklung von Algorithmen mit zu beachten, um eine höhere Verkehrssicherheit und Akzeptanz in der Bevölkerung zu schaffen., The increasing automation of vehicles promises many advantages, such as reduction of emissions or increased comfort. The public's expectations of automated driving are high. However, concerns and fears still remain. One challenge that is particularly important in the transition phase to autonomous driving is communication in mixed traffic between human and automated vehicles. A solution must be found to this challenge so that the automated vehicle is understood and accepted by the surrounding road users. The question of how to deal with such situations has already been raised by several authors. Suggestions for solutions in the development of driving strategies go in the direction of cooperative driving, but do not shed enough light on the psychological component, concerning the informal active communication between people, but also the attribution during the interaction. This paper provides an interdisciplinary approach. The aim is to give recommendations for action for the design of a behavior oriented driving strategy based on psychological findings and theories. One use case that is one of the most complex scenarios on the highway and requires an increased degree of coordinated alignment between drivers, is a lane change scenario in a low speed range. This was examined in three studies in the driving simulator from a merging and car following perspective. The first step was to investigate how people communicate with each other in such a situation and how this was perceived from the perspective of the cut in vehicle and the lag driver. In this context, it was analyzed in more detail what constitutes unambiguous and cooperative communication and how this can be objectified on the basis of driving parameters. In a second step, the results for the application in question were integrated into the existing traffic simulation in the form of a new brake and lane change algorithm and compared with the original strategies in the driving simulator. This time the focus was on the interaction between human and autonomous vehicles. It turned out that the newly developed strategies were better evaluated. These studies underline the importance and necessity to consider psychological aspects in the development of algorithms in order to create higher traffic safety and acceptance in the population.

Objective: Up to 29% of the working population suffer from (chronic) mental disorders and work disability. As different professions pose different psychological capacity demands, one core aspect for describing work disability is psychological capacity limitations. The distribution of capacity limitations in patients with chronic mental disorders (CMD) from different professional fields is unknown, as well as their relation with sick leave. Objective: Are there different work ability limitations in CMD patients working in different professions? Methods: 263 CMD patients from different professions were investigated cross-sectionally in a thorough medical and psychological assessment by a trained psychosomatic study physician. Besides CMD diagnostic (MINI) and subjective work ability limitations (IMET), an observer rating on capacity limitations was conducted with Mini-ICF-APP. Results: No relevant differences in perceived work ability limitations were found between the professions. Differences of capacity limitations were better explained by psychopathology than by profession. But capacity limitations were differently related with sick leave in different professions and there are differences in sick leave duration. Conclusions: The variance of capacity limitations was explained by psychopathology. The variance of sick leave duration was explained by profession. Similar capacity limitations are associated differently with sick leave in different professions. Different professional fields may have different tolerances towards the same capacity limitations. Therefore, similar capacity limitations are more or less strongly associated with sick leave in different professions.

Hintergrund: Psychische Erkrankungen gehen vielfach mit Beeinträchtigungen in der Teilhabe am gesellschaftlichen und beruflichen Leben einher. Es ergibt sich daraus häufig die Indikation für eine stationäre Rehabilitation. Derartige Patienten werden langzeitig vor allem von Hausärzten behandelt, die auch wichtige Vermittler bei der Einleitung einer Rehabilitationsmaßnahme sind. Allerdings weisen die Rentenversicherer darauf hin, dass in vielen Fällen von Erwerbsminderungsrenten vorab keine Rehabilitationsmaßnahme durchgeführt wurde. Es stellt sich die Frage, bei welchen Hausarztpatienten eine Rehabilitationsmaßnahme durchgeführt wird oder durchgeführt werden sollte. Methode: Eine prototypisch repräsentative Stichprobe von 307 Patienten aus 40 Hausarztpraxen wurde von einem psychosomatischen Konsiliararzt untersucht, einschließlich (Reha-)Behandlungsvorgeschichte, Krankheitsstatus und Teilhabe. Es wurde geprüft, welche Behandlungsoptionen vorliegen und ob aktuell eine Rehaindikation vorliegt. Bei der Hälfte der Patienten wurden die Hausärzte über die Konsilempfehlung informiert und ein halbes Jahr später nachgefragt, ob diese umgesetzt wurden. Ergebnisse: Bei 64% der Patienten mit chronischen psychischen Erkrankungen war bislang keine psychosomatische Reha erfolgt und auch keine Indikation gegeben. Bei 5.2% wurde bereits einmal eine stationäre psychosomatische Rehabilitation durchgeführt, und jetzt nicht nochmals eine Rehaindikation gestellt. Bei 27% wurde bislang noch keine Rehamaßnahme durchgeführt, wurde jetzt aber konsiliarärztlich erstmals empfohlen. Bei 3.6% war schon einmal eine psychosomatische Reha durchgeführt worden und dennoch vom Konsiliararzt eine Wiederholungsreha als sinnvoll erachtet. Patienten, die bereits einmal in Reha waren sind kränker und haben mehr Fähigkeits- und Teilhabeprobleme. Patienten, bei denen aus Sicht des Konsilarztes erstmalig eine psychosomatische Rehabilitation erwogen werden sollte, haben primär arbeitsbezogene Probleme und nur zu einem geringeren Ausmaß aktuelle psychische und somatische Beeinträchtigungen. Von 35 Patienten, bei denen der Konsiliararzt die Neubeantragung einer psychosomatischen Rehabilitation empfahl, wurde bei 13 im Verlauf der folgenden sechs Monate ein Antrag gestellt. Schlussfolgerung: Da Hausärzte eine zentrale Position bei der Betreuung von Langzeitkranken mit Teilhabebeeinträchtigungen haben, sollten Maßnahmen zur Förderung einer MBOR-Orientierung auch bei Hausärzten erfolgen. Dazu gehört auch eine verbesserte und erleichterte Kooperation bei der Beantragung von Rehabilitationsmaßnahmen inklusive einer transparenten Begutachtung., Background: Mental disorders often result in social and occupational participation restrictions, which may be an indication for an inpatient psychosomatic rehabilitation treatment. These patients are usually treated by general practitioners, who function as an important gate keeper in the pathway to rehabilitation treatment. The question is which patients receive an inpatient treatment, and which do not. Method: A prototypically representative sample of 307 patients with chronic mental disorders from 40 general practitioners were examined by a psychosomatic consultant. The investigation included the medical history, treatment status, illness status, capacity status and participa-tion impairment. The psychosomatic consultant gave a recommendation whether an inpatient rehabilitation was indicated or not. Results: 64% of the patients with chronic mental disorder had not received an inpatient rehabilitation in the past five years and there was no present indication. In 5.2% of cases an inpatient rehabilitation had been done before, but there was no indication for a renewal. In 27% there was no rehabilitation in the past five years but now seen indicated. In 3.6% there was an inpatient rehabilitation in the past and a renewed indication now. Patients who had already been in inpatient rehabilitation in the past five years were more severely ill and had more severe participation problems. Patients with present indication for rehabilitation had acute work-related problems. Capacity and participation impairment was an important factor to discriminate between patients with and without a present indication for an inpatient rehabilitation. In 13 out of 35 patients who got a recommendation for a new psychosomatic rehabilitation, this rehabilitation was initiated within six months after the consult. Conclusion: General practitioners play a central role in long-term treatment of mental disorders. Rehabilitation orientation, i.e. a participation-oriented treatment perspective, should be encouraged in the primary care setting.
