- Abstract
This report explores how gamification can be implemented to create a medical application intended for children of age six who suffer from daytime incontinence. The application builds upon a method used by health professionals that consists of a 12 week training programme, where the guardians keep track of their child's bladder training to create routines. The aim of the added gamification aspects, such as a customizable avatar, rewards and visualisation of the progress, is to make the training fun and engaging for the children. Testing on the target age group as well as research on the subject indicate that this kind of gamification is a well suited method to engage children in their bladder training. Future work would involve conducting additional testing over a 12 week period to ensure that the created application meets its goals of being fun and engaging for the users over an extended timeframe.
