People face various difficulties at every stage of their lives. University students are in an important developmental period where routines change, and some other conditions they find themselves in can cause them to face many problems. It is stated in the literature that students experience many problems, especially substance abuse, suicidal tendencies, bullying, aggression, gender inequality, discrimination, obesity, social media addiction, adaptation problems, homelessness, psycho-social problems, financial problems, nutritional problems and academic problems. This study aims to make the problems faced by university students more visible and to evaluate these problems from a social work perspective. With this perspective, the discussion was continued through university social work and counseling units. Although social work has an ever-expanding range of knowledge and fields of study, university social work in our country has not yet been examined and discussed on a solid basis as a new field of discussion. Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı kalça kırığı olan aile üyesi bakım verenlere uygulanan danışmanlığın bakım verenlerin bakım yükü, stress düzeyi ve yaşam kalitesine etkisini incelemektir. Yöntemler: Bu çalışma yarı deneysel araştırma dizaynındadır. Kontrol grubundaki bakım veren aile üyeleri rutin bakım almıştır. Girişim grubuna yüz yüze ve telefonla bireyselleştirilmiş danışmanlık yapılmıştır. Veriler; hasta tanıtım formu, bakım veren aile üyesi tanıtım formu, Zarit Bakım Yükü, Bakım Veren Stres İndeksi ve Yaşam Kalitesi ölçeği kullanılarak girişim öncesi, taburculukta, ameliyat sonrası birinci ayda ve üçüncü ayda toplanmıştır. Bulgular: Girişim grubunun; bakım yükü, stress ve yaşam kalitesi mental sağlık, mental rol, enerji/canlılık, sosyal fonksiyon ve genel sağlık alt boyutları puan ortalamalarının birinci ve üçüncü ayda kontrol grubundan daha yüksek olduğu bulunmuştur. Sonuç: Bu çalışma hemşire tarafından yapılan danışmanlığın bakım veren aile üyelerinin bakım yükünü ve stress düzeyini azalttığını ve yaşam kalitesini iyileştirdiğini göstermektedir.

Objective: Patients in the coronary intensive care unit most of them have sleep problems. Intensive care nurses should regularly review patients' sleep patterns and identify strategies that promote sleep. Intensive care nurses are in a unique position to provide direct support to cardiac patients regarding physiological and psycho-social risk factors. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of eye mask application and anxiety reduction counseling on sleep quality and anxiety in the coronary intensive care unit. Materials and Methods: This is a single-center prospective randomized controlled clinical study. 50 patients in the intervention group were allowed to wear eye masks during sleep at night and counseling was provided to reduce their anxiety. 50 patients in the control group received routine cardiological treatment. Research data were evaluated with the Richards-Campbell Sleep Scale, the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale and the "Numeric Rating Scale". Data were analyzed using the statistical program SPSS (22.0). Results: Sleep quality score (intervention group: 316.40±148.42, control group: 291.80±149.29) differed between the groups, but it was not statistically significant (t=0.826, p=0.411). However, the difference between the anxiety scores (intervention group: 11.44±8.74, control group: 15.38±10.49) was statistically significant (t=-2.040, p=0.044). Conclusion: Eye mask application supported the sleep of the patients in the coronary intensive care unit and was recommended for patients who wanted to use an eye mask. Amaç: Bu araştırma, hemşirelik öğrencilerinin danışmanlık ve iletişim becerilerinin belirlenmesi amacı ile gerçekleştirildi. Yöntemler: Tanımlayıcı ve kesitsel nitelikteki araştırma, bir devlet üniversitesinin sağlık yüksekokulunun hemşirelik bölümünde öğrenim gören, klinik uygulamaya çıkmış ve kişilerarası ilişkiler dersi almış olan 2., 3. ve 4. sınıf hemşirelik öğrencileri ile gerçekleştirildi (n=336). Veriler Anket Formu, Hemşirelerde Danışmanlık Becerileri Ölçeği ve İletişim Becerileri Envanteri kullanılarak toplandı. Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin yaş ortalaması 21,17±1,58 yıldır. Hemşirelik öğrencilerinin %89’u klinik uygulama eğitimleri sırasında hastalar ile iletişim kurmakta sorun yaşamadığını ve %58,6’sı klinik uygulamam eğitimleri sırasında bakımına yardımcı olduğu hastalara danışmanlık yaptığını belirtti. Öğrencilerin Danışmanlık Becerileri Ölçeği toplam puan ortalaması 46,30±3,45, İletişim Becerileri Envanteri toplam puan ortalaması 164,48±12,94 olarak bulundu. The holistic approach, one of the most important components of the primary care delivery, falls into the definition of preconception and interconception care. From a narrow point of view, it may seem like it is limited to assessing merely a woman's health status to plan and provide a healthy pregnancy before conception, however, preconception-interconception care offers a good opportunity to go over the issues regarding every aspect of life that could affect the health and future of women, couples, society, and posterity. Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the effect of acceptance and commitment-based counseling on smoking cessation and quality of life in Turkish society. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted as a randomized controlled trial with experimental design with 35 individuals including 17 in the intervention group and 18 in the control group. The data of the study were collected using the Personal Information Form, SF-36 Quality of life Questionnaire, and Fagerstrom Test for Nicotine Dependence (FTND). 6 sessions of acceptance and commitment-based counseling was given to the intervention group including 1 session per week for 6 weeks. Results: The intervention and control groups had similar demographic characteristics. It was determined that there was a significant decrease in the mean number of cigarettes a day and FTND intervention follow-up measurement mean scores after the intervention and in the follow-up measurements in the intervention group and this decrease was significantly lower than the mean number of cigarettes per day by the participants in the control group. In the intragroup evaluation of SF-36 Quality of Life subscale scores of the intervention group, significant score increases were observed in all subscales other than physical role functioning, pain, and emotional role functioning. Conclusion: Acceptance and commitment-based counseling was found to be effective in smoking cessation and quality of life in Turkish society. This study provide useful evidence-based information for healthcare professionals in the nursing practice.

Amaç: Evlilik, yasalara uygun olarak iki karşı cins arasındaki bir anlaşma ile aile kurmayı, bir sonraki neslin yetişmesini sağlayan en önemli ve en temel insan ilişkisi olup; çocuk sahibi olmayı ve psikolojik, biyolojik, kültürel ve sosyo-ekonomik amaçları hedefleyen bir dayanışma ve anlaşmadır. Evlilik öncesi sağlık raporu alınması Türk Medeni Kanunu’nun 136. maddesine göre zorunlu tutulmuştur. Evlilik raporu düzenlenmesi Aile Hekimliği Kanunu’nda aile hekiminin görevleri içinde yer alan bir hizmettir. Bireylerin başvurdukları aile sağlığı merkezinde aile hekimi tarafından bazı test ve muayenelere tabi tutulmaktadır. Çalışmamızda; evlilik öncesi sağlık raporu almak için aile sağlığı merkezine başvuran kişilerin ve tetkik sonuçlarının değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: Çalışmamız 01.01.2011 ile 30.12.2013 tarihleri arasında İstanbul’daki bir aile sağlığı merkezine yapılmış tüm evlilik raporu başvurularını kapsamaktadır. Retrospektif bir çalışmadır. Verilerin analizinde ortalama, standart sapma ve frekans istatistik yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Başvuran 151 kişinin 69’unu kadın oluşturmaktadır. Venereal Disease Research Laboratory (VDRL), Anti Human Immuno Deficiency Virus (Anti-HIV) pozitifliğine ve akciğer grafileri değerlendirildiğinde tüberküloz enfeksiyonu bulgusuna rastlanmamıştır. Başvuranlardan 1 kişide Anti Hepatitis C Virüs (HCV), 3 kişide Anti Hepatit B yüzey antijen (HBs) pozitif iken, Hepatit B yüzey antijen (HBsAg) pozitifliği 3 kişide tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç: Çalışmamızda evlilik öncesi yapılan tetkikler değerlendirildiğinde cinsel yolla bulaşan hastalıkların yaygınlığının oldukça düşük olduğu; genetik geçişli hastalıklarla ve aile planlaması ile ilgili gerekli danışmanlığın yapıldığı sonucuna varılmış olup; bu alanda daha kapsamlı çalışmaların yapılmasının evlilik raporlarının bir prosedür olarak görülmesinden çok bu hastalıkların önlenmesi ve sağlıklı nesillerin oluşması konusunda önemli olacağı düşünülmektedir.

Periyodik Sağlık Muayenesi (PSM), sağlıklı görünen kişilerin yaş, cinsiyet ve risk faktörlerine göre belirlenen sıklıkta değerlendirilmesidir. Bu değerlendirmenin önemli bir bileşeni de tarama testleridir. Uygulanacak tarama testi kişiler tarafindan kabul edilebilir olmalıdır. Hekimlerin önerilen PSM ile ilgili yarar/zarar oranı hususunda, görüşmeci model prensipleri doğrultusunda hastaları bilgilendirmesi önemlidir.

Purpose: Stoma is a surgical intervention that negatively affects the quality of life and adaptation to social life. The problems experienced by patients with stoma negatively affect the quality of life especially in the postoperative first weeks. Many kinds of nursing interventions to ensure adaptation to social life and to increase the quality of life. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of phone counselling service on adaptation to stoma and quality of life among patients with intestinal stoma Materials and Methods: The study was conducted on patients with intestinal stoma followed up in stoma therapy outpatient clinic of a university hospital. A total of 60 patients (30 in the control group and 30 in the test group) were assigned to two groups by making randomization via computer through "simple randomization method". "Informed Consent Form, Questionnaire for Individuals with Intestinal Stoma, Ostomy Adjustment Inventory and Adaptation of Quality Life Scale" were filled in. The scales were re-applied in both groups in the stoma therapy outpatient clinic in the postoperative 6th and 10th weeks. Results: Phone counselling was effective in increasing the adjustment to stoma and quality of life among patients with stoma in the first 10 weeks after the operation. Bu çalışmada kamu kurumlarında iç denetim faaliyetlerinin yürütülmesinde karşılaşılan başlıca sorunların tespiti ve hangi kurumlarda ne tür sorunların ön plana çıktığının belirlenmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Bu kapsamda kamu iç denetçilerine bir anket uygulanmıştır. Sonuç olarak, kamu kurumlarında iç denetim faaliyetlerinin yürütülmesinde birçok sorunla karşılaşıldığı tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca genel bütçeli kamu kurumlarında, iç denetimde genel bağımsızlık ve iç denetçilerin özlük haklarıyla ilgili sorunların, mahalli idarelerde ise iç denetçilerin görev, yetki ve statüleriyle ilgili sorunların ön plana çıktığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

Background and Design: The most important avoidable risk factor for skin cancer is ultraviolet light exposure. The aim of this study is to evaluate the frequency and the effect of counseling on sun protection behaviors and early detection of skin cancer. Materials and Methods: Five hundred individuals aged 45-75 years participated in this cross-sectional survey between February 6th and March 07th of 2019. Participants were directed to filled out a questionnaire to understand their sun protection behaviors and learn whether they receive counseling on sun protection and early detection of skin cancer. Results: Out of the 500 subjects, 283 (56.6%) were female and 217 (43.4%) were male. The mean age was 56.65±9.24 years (45-75 years). Two hundred and thirty-four (46.8%) respondents reported having skin-cancer risk factors. The rates of counseling on sun protection and behavior of sun protection were 16% and 39.4%, respectively. Sun protection counseling was significantly associated with self-reported skincancer risk factors and being a female (p<0.001; p=0.048, respectively). The rate of counseling on early detection of skin cancer was low (skin selfexamination: 12%; moles monitoring: 11.8%; annual checkup: 13.2%). The counseling on sun protection and early detection of skin cancer were significantly associated with behaviors of sun protection and early detection of skin cancer (p<0.001; p<0.001, respectively). The older age had a negative effect on the counseling and behaviors (p=0.047; p=0.005, respectively), however, high level of education had a positive effect (p=0.024; p<0.001). Conclusion: Counseling by healthcare professionals on primary and secondary preventions for the middle-aged and older people seems to be insufficient. This study evaluates hospitalized patients' attitudes regarding smoking cessation counseling during their hospital stay. All patients hospitalized at the Ordu Training and Research Hospital (OEAH) received a questionnaire including personal information, smoking status, and their views on receiving smoking cessation counseling during hospitalization. Data were analyzed using SPSS, version 15. A total of 105 hospitalized patients at OEAH were included in the study, of which 52 (49.5%) were males and 53 (50.5%) were females. Thirty (28.6%) of the patients were current smokers, 30 (28.6%) quit before, 43 (40.9%) were non-smokers, and 2 (1.9%) did not provide information. Of the 30 patients who currently smoked, 5 (16.1%) stated that they were very keen and 4 (12.9%) stated that they were keen to receive smoking counseling at the hospital. Further, 30% (n=9) of the smokers believed that their disease was more or less associated with smoking. Journals and the congresses are the formal information channels that form the basis for scientific communications. Editors of scientific journals have responsibilities toward their journals, authors and readers. They are responsible for monitoring the peer-review editorial process so as to ensure the fairly, timely, and thoroughly realization of counselling procedures. The journals have their own manuscript selection, and publication criteria. The peer-review system plays an important role in ensuring the integrity of the scholarly record. Clear communication between the journal and the reviewers carries importance. Editors mediate all interactions between reviewers and authors so as to facilitate consistent, fair and timely review. Reviewers are selected by the editors and they are responsible for the fair and scientific evaluation of the manuscripts in time. The process of selecting a suitable journal for publication should be taken seriously because the identification and avoidance of predatory journals and conferences is an important issue. Reproductive health/sexual health rights are supposed within the scope of personal rights and it is relevant to both genders. All people have the right to obtain easily accessible and quality reproductive health services. "Deciding whether or not to have children" is also a part of reproductive health rights. Healthcare professional who will be providing counseling about contraceptives method to these groups have important responsibility because the needs of the individuals in the groups referred to as diverse groups can differ. In this review it was aimed to discuss counseling of contraception for diverse groups (adolescents, men, women in the perimenopausal period, disabled individuals, individuals with sexually transmitted diseases including human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and women in the postpartum period). The purpose of the study was to develop a valid and reliable scale for the assessment of the counseling skills of nurses. After the final version of the item pool was generalized, it was administered to 204 nurses for exploratory factor analysis. The scale was found to consist of one factor and 10 items. Confirmatory factor analysis was then held with 200 nurses. The fit index between the confirmatory factor analysis and one-factor structure had acceptable values (χ²=94.785, sd=33, χ²/sd= 2.872, RMSEA=0.097, GFI=0.92, AGFI=0.86, CFI=0.92 and IFI=0.92). The validity of the scale was examined with exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. The reliability of the scale was confirmed with Cronbach Alpha and Split-half. Cronbach Alpha was measured as .88, and Split-half was found to be .86. According to the results, it was shown that the scale could be used to determine the counseling skills of nurses. Periodic Health Evaluation (PHE) is the assessment at a frequency that is shaped according to the age, gender, and risk factors of healthy‐looking people. An important component of this assessment is screening tests. The screening test to be performed should be acceptable to persons. Children who are neglected or abused, whose physical, mental, moral, social, or emotional development and personal safety are at risk, must be protected. Precautionary reports can be prepared about children for whom supervision has been decided. In this case, the court's ignoring of a child psychiatrist's advice for a counseling measure and the later occurrence of sexual abuse in an adolescent girl is discussed. G.D., a 17-year-old girl, is referred to our clinic by the public prosecutor with the request for a report on the development of the girl's competence to understand the legal significance and consequences of sexual abuse. We found that she had been referred to our clinic as a forensic case two years previously because of accusations that she had stolen gold and money from her neighbors at the request of her friends. It was found that the patient was at risk of sexual abuse. In the forensic report that we had prepared two years ago, it was suggested to monitor her behavior carefully as it was forming a basis for sexual abuse; hence precaution about this risk should be taken. Therefore, the case should be followed from the perspective of abuse, and a counseling measure was recommended by court decision. But as far as we learned from the family, neither had been applied. In our case, failure to apply the required counseling measure resulted in sexual abuse. There seems to be a need for bilateral control mechanisms between court and mental health workers for the application of measures mentioned in child protection law. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
