Corpus linguistics investigates language using extensive text databases. Tools assist researchers in analyzing, extracting, and interpreting linguistic information efficiently. Furthermore, if researchers only use traditional tools in corpus linguistic analysis, they will lack the comprehensiveness and efficiency required to effectively navigate and derive valuable insights from language data. This paper employed the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) approach to find the primary data based on a few keywords in corpus linguistic, corpus analysis, computational linguistic, text corpora and tool support. Based on this method, we used advanced searching techniques on Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) and discovered (N=28) data pertinent to the study. Expert scholars decide on a theme based on the problem, which is (i) types of corpus tools and their uses; (ii) their contributions and their capabilities, and (iii) limitations of corpus tools. All the tools were used in interdisciplinary studies. In summary, this systematic review uncovers pivotal key findings at the intersection of computational tools and corpus analysis, enriching linguistic knowledge. This study focuses on connectives, linguistic devices that signal relations between ideas. Connective knowledge varies widely across grades and is known to support reading comprehension and school writing. Despite the important role that connective knowledge plays in reading and writing, few resources exist to support teachers in understanding which connectives to prioritize in Spanish literacy instruction. In this study we combined a secondary analysis of midadolescents' connective assessment data (810 students in grades 4–8) with a corpus linguistics frequency analysis of connectives in Chilean national science and social studies textbooks (1,079,593 total words), with the goal of generating a pedagogically relevant tool to support the instruction of connectives in Spanish literacy across content areas. To generate the Connective Frequency Bands Tool, we first examined the role of grade and connective type in midadolescents' connective knowledge. Secondly, we examined associations between students' knowledge and textual frequencies across content areas for each connective included in the assessment. Finally, informed by midadolescents' connective knowledge and by the corpus linguistics analysis of science and social studies textbooks from grades 1–8, we generated the Connective Frequency Bands Tool listing connectives frequencies by grade, connective type, and content area. Annotated corpus can greatly assist in the natural language processing field. For example, computers can understand more of the document context, and indexing and clustering in information retrieval can be done precisely with less or no ambiguity of words. However, there are only a few annotated corpora in Malay language, which are not publicly shared. In this paper, we delve into analysing and annotating Malay translated hadith documents in terms of tagging and entities. There are three phases, which are manual filtering and cleaning, analysing the corpus and creating the benchmark. As the result, an analysis and benchmark of Malay translated hadith corpus were produced in term of part-of-speech and named entities tags that follows the Zipf’s law distribution.

Keyword extraction involves the application of Natural Language Processing (NLP) algorithms or models developed in the realm of text mining. Keyword extraction is a common technique used to explore linguistic patterns in the corpus linguistic field, and Dunning's Log-Likelihood Test (LLT) has long been integrated into corpus software as a statistic-based NLP model. While prior research has confirmed the widespread applicability of keyword extraction in corpus-based research, LLT has certain limitations that may impact the accuracy of keyword extraction in such research. This paper summarized the limitations of LLT, which include benchmark corpus interference, elimination of grammatical and generic words, consideration of sub-corpus relevance, flexibility in feature selection, and adaptability to different research goals. To address these limitations, this paper proposed an extended Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) method. To verify the applicability of the proposed method, 20 highly cited research articles on climate change from the Web of Science (WOS) database were used as the target corpus, and a comparison was conducted with the traditional method. The experimental results indicated that the proposed method could effectively overcome the limitations of the traditional method and demonstrated the feasibility and practicality of incorporating the TF-IDF algorithm into relevant corpus-based research. This study aims at shedding light on the linguistic significance of collocation networks in the academic writing context. Following Firth's principle "You shall know a word by the company it keeps." The study intends to examine three selected nodes (i.e. research, study, and paper) shared collocations in an academic context. This is achieved by using the corpus linguistic tool; GraphColl in #LancsBox software version 5 which was announced in June 2020 in analyzing selected nodes. The study focuses on academic writing of two corpora which were designed and collected especially to serve the purpose of the study. The corpora consist of a collection of abstracts extracted from two different academic journals that publish for writers from different countries around the world. This corpus-based study aims at examining the significance of chunks of language in texts. The concept of collocations is crucial in corpus linguistics to identify semantic relations. This can help in the teaching and learning processes. Furthermore, this study is conducted to answer the following research questions; first, whether the three words study, paper, and research are used interchangeably in the corpora or not? Second, what are the shared collocational associations surrounding the selected nodes? Finally, it is worth noting that the study of collocations highlights the linguistic features of texts through computational analytical tools that can save time and help to gain objective results systematically. The findings show that 'research' and 'study' are used rather interchangeably in the writing of the abstracts; however, 'paper' has fewer shared collocations in the same academic context. This study aims to establish and explore students' perception of a corpus in vocabulary learning. The corpus development was completed based on IDM ADDIE. This research was started by conducting a problem analysis that reveals students' obstacles in learning a language. The students' are identified to have a limited vocabulary of the language they learned. The corpus construction and development was begun by creating a script in PHP language. This research produces a corpus with 377880 tokens and five sub-corpora, namely Indonesian, English, German, Arabic, as well as art and design. The vocabularies are presented according to the highest frequency in the language and language teacher education field. The evaluation carried out by the experts of materials, language, and media discovers that the corpus is feasible to be integrated into the learning. Simultaneously, the assessment from students who have attended the corpus' implementation with data-driven learning (DDL) approach shows that this corpus helps students broaden their vocabulary, including the word meaning, form, and usage through observation on the concordance and collocation lines. Objective: Limited studies related to spoken word corpus in the Indian context are available in the literature. To fulfill the demands of the spoken word frequency database in Hindi for advance psycholinguistic and cognitive studies, we tried to establish the preliminary spoken word database of Hindi language for children studying in Grade VI to Grade IX. Methods: To create the spoken word corpus a recorder was given to subjects to record their conversation. The recorded sample was transcribed into Hindi text using voice note II software. The transcribed sample was uploaded into Text Analyzer software, and word frequency, the number of syllables, and lexical density were computed. Results: Spoken word corpus consists of a total of 49,476 words. Lexical density was higher for females than males because the female database contains more unique words. The study also revealed that subjects used functional words and verbs more frequently, followed by nouns. Conclusion: We can conclude that the current database provides information about the high-frequency and low-frequency words used by children studying in Grade VI to Grade IX. This database will be helpful in psycholinguistic and cognitive experiments; however, the present corpus included data from the middle socioeconomic group and contained fewer words. Youtube is one of the most famous video-sharing and social networking platforms in the world. Due to its comment section function, Youtube also plays a role in describing the perception and reaction of the general public. This study aims to examine the discourse prosody found in the adjective suki and its co-occurrences. This is a mixed-method research where corpus linguistics is used for quantitative data analysis and, discourse prosody for the qualitative method. The Youtube comments chosen are five videos from Japan's number one Youtuber, Hajimeshachoo in January 2020. Only the first 24 hours comments were picked. The findings show that the adjective suki is the most significant na-adjective used in the Youtube comments gathered. Na-adjective mainly co-occurred with an adverb that modified the adjective suki mostly to elevate the sense of likeness, adoration, or fondness of the content and/or creator of the video. Metadiscourse refers to the linguistic element that is used to communicate meanings with imagined readers and to express a viewpoint as members of a particular academic community. Accordingly, this study reported the distributions of interactive and interactional metadiscourse markers in a corpus of 99 research articles representing the English language, Computer Sciences, and Education disciplines. To observe the writers' metadiscourse devices usage in their discourse community, Hyland's (Metadiscourse: exploring interaction in writing. Continuum, New York, 2005) metadiscourse taxonomy was employed. The data were computed through descriptive statistics, Chi square, Kruskal–Wallis test, and content analysis. Hence, the data revealed that though articles in all disciplines employed both interactive and interactional metadiscourse markers, English Language discipline articles contained highest metadiscourse devices compared with Education and Computer sciences discipline articles. It was also observed that the book review writers used much more interactive markers such as transition and evidential devices than interactional markers. However, among interactional markers, self-mention markers were extensively used. The data also indicated that there was statistically a significant difference across disciplines in using interactive and interactional metadiscourse devices. Hence, these findings implied that academic writing teachers should focus on discipline-oriented metadiscourse devices while teaching academic writing skills. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper investigates a special type of recurrent expressions, lexical bundles, defined as a sequence of three or more words that co-occur frequently in a particular register (Biber et al., 1999). Considering the importance of this group of multi-word sequences in academic prose, this study explores the forms and syntactic structures of three- and four-word bundles in English abstracts written by Iranian scholars in three disciplines; business studies, history, and linguistics. Applying a frequency-based approach suggested by Biber et al. (1999), the data were drawn from a corpus consisting of 660 English abstracts of research articles published by various leading academic journals. As regards syntactic structure, the structural characteristics of the lexical bundles were first explored through careful analysis and then classified using a modified version of Biber et al.’s (1999) structural framework. The study also compares the forms, frequencies, and structures of the lexical bundles in the corpus to those found in Hyland’s (2004) research article corpus. This comparison shows that not only are there relatively large differences between the two corpora in the forms and frequencies of bundles employed, but also there are some discrepancies in terms of distribution of the different structural types and tokens.

The article is dedicated to the description of meta-descriptions architecture of the texts forminga National Corpus of the Kalmyk Language. The author analyzes a number of standards existing for description of metadata, and creates on the basis of contamination and modi0 cation their own system of attributes which are relevant to the functioning of the Kalmyk language.

The present study analyses six Arabisms through a corpus of administrative documents linked to the territories that constituted the Kingdom of Granada during the 16th and 17th centuries from a historical-linguistic point of view: alarguez, albotín, almáciga, almea, almoraduj and atutía. The historical conditions that are observed in this territory have made the Spanish variety developed there especially suitable for the studying of Arabims, against the general trend to the loss of these terms since the late 15th century. The selected lexicon is framed in the field of the names of plants and minerals, which reveals as especially fruitful to the documentation of Arab loanwords and in which numerous lexical doublets are produced between Arabic loanwords and voices of Greek and Latin origin. This paper explores how metaphors in Dante’s Commedia can be identified, classified and organized in a database so as to provide thorough and solid data to aid their understanding. All metaphors in the poem are first identified through a linguistic procedure called MIP (i.e. Metaphor Identification Process), based on the comparison between the contextual and the basic meaning of each word-unit. The metaphors thus identified are later classified based on syntactic, semantic and rhetorical structure criteria, taking into account both medieval explanations of figurative language and the features of Dante’s metaphors that have always struck the readers of his poem. The findings from this combined linguistic and stylistic analysis provide evidence to support tenets put forward by some literary scholars (e.g. that metaphors increase in number and complexity throughout the poem) and show that metaphors converge in sections of political and religious invective, where one of the main purposes of the author is to elevate his style. The study suggests that a systematic multi-dimensional analysis of metaphor can shed light on its conceptual importance in a text and raise awareness of all its stylistic traits.

An Ottoman prose work “Tarih-i Naima” (“Naima’s History”) for a long time has been the subject of special interest for literary critics, historians and linguists due to its stylistic features. The general comparison of the chronicle frequency lexical parameters with other Ottoman prose texts by corpus approach demonstrated that it had been created according to the canons of Ottoman Prose Literature and rules of its language norm. However, at the same time, “Tarih-i Naima” differs from other texts in some obscure, inexpressive form, which let the annalist work stay quite famous in Ottoman Literature for two centuries and not be forgotten as was the chronicle “Seyahatname” of the famous traveler Evliya Chelebi.
