Sustainable development represents a dynamic process of change which envisages territorial harmony and it enhances both current and future potentials to meet human and environmental needs. The purpose of the analysis is to assess the tourist resources and the related tourism activity in Corbu, a rural commune of Constanta county and part of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve, as well as to identify some directions for its ecotourism development. The study methodology includes the analysis of statistical data, the assessment of local geosites and a tourist evaluation of the area, based on a perception questionnaire. The main findings highlight the current characteristics of tourist resources, together with the main area problems in relation to their tourism use. The study conclusions and policy recommendations contribute to supporting the sustainable development of a rural area under tourism pressure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
