We conducted a meta-analysis to analyze the effects of pneumocephalus after chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) surgery on hematoma recurrence, mortality, and functional outcomes. In this meta-analysis, following PRISMA guidelines, PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science online databases were queried using the keywords “pneumocephalus,” “pneumoencephalos,” “intracranial pneumatocele,” “pneumo encephalon,” “subdural air,” and “chronic subdural hematoma.” The results were limited to English-language articles. Through the online database, we identified a total of 276 articles and finally included 14 articles for meta-analysis. The results showed that the recurrence rate in the pneumocephalus group was higher than that in the control group, with a pooled OR of 3.35 (CI: 2.51–4.46, P < 0.001). There was no difference in recurrence rate between the no/few and moderate pneumocephalus groups (OR: 1.27, CI: 0.68–2.37, P = 0.46), but the recurrence rate of the large pneumocephalus group was significantly higher than that of the moderate group, with a pooled OR of 3.29 (CI: 1.71–6.32, P < 0.001). This study failed to show higher mortality and worse outcomes in the pneumocephalus group than in the control. Pneumocephalus after surgical evacuation of CSDH was associated with the recurrence rate of hematoma. Pneumocephalus affecting recurrence was correlated with gas volume, and moderate pneumocephalus may have less impact, while patients with large pneumocephalus are more likely to recur than those with moderate pneumocephalus. The aim of our study was to investigate the effect of the burr hole width on the postoperative chronic subdural hematoma (CSH) thickness and midline shift radiologically. The medical records of 92 patients who had undergone surgery after a diagnosis of CSH between April 1, 2015 and July 1, 2021 were reviewed retrospectively. Preoperative and postoperative computed tomography (CT) scans were reviewed, and the thickness of the hematoma and midline shift and the diameters of 2 burr holes opened were measured and recorded. The correlation between the burr hole diameter width and CSH thickness on postoperative CT scans and the improvement in midline shift were investigated statistically. When the CT scans performed on the first postoperative day and first postoperative month were examined, we found that the preoperative hematoma thickness and midline shift were significantly reduced postoperatively (P < 0.001). A positive significant correlation was found between the improvement in the midline shift, posterior burr hole diameter, and anteroposterior burr hole arithmetic mean (P < 0.001 and P = 0.029, respectively). Having examined the current surgical techniques in the treatment of CSH, we found that an increase in the burr hole craniostomy width, especially the posterior burr hole craniostomy width, contributed to the improvement in the midline shift. Background: In this study, we propose a butterfly needle tap and suction (BTS) technique for recurrent chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) as an alternative to reoperation with burr hole craniostomy (BHC) and investigate its efficacy and safety. The procedure involves percutaneous puncture through the burr hole created during the previous surgery and subsequent hematoma evacuation using a butterfly needle. Methods: This retrospective study included patients who underwent BTS for CSDH at Ogaki Municipal Hospital between January 2017 and December 2020. The follow-up CT scans were reviewed after several weeks. We evaluated the number of percutaneous punctures required to resolve CSDH during the BTS technique, the volume of the evacuated hematoma, and procedure-related complications. Results: Twenty-six patients were enrolled in the study, 21 of whom achieved resolution of the hematoma using punctures with the BTS technique alone (mean, 2.2 ± 1.5). Five patients had a recurrence of hematoma after one or more punctures during the BTS technique, and they underwent reoperation with BHC according to the surgeon's decision or patient requests. Among the 55 punctures, 43.0 ± 16.0 ml of hematoma was evacuated per puncture. The evacuated hematoma volume was 41.9 ± 16.4 ml in the BTS-alone group and 49.4 ± 12.9 ml in the reoperation group, with no significant difference (p = 0.25). Three patients complained of a headache during the puncture procedure, and no other complications, including intracranial hemorrhage or infection, were reported therein. Abstract Background Symptomatic chronic subdural hematomas (CSDH) remain one of the most encountered forms of intracranial hemorrhages particularly in the elder patients, yet fortunately implies a good surgical prognosis. Burr hole evacuation under general anesthesia is the most commonly used neurosurgical technique for the management of CSDH. Clinical disagreement between many studies regarding the number of burr holes required to achieve the optimal surgical and clinical outcome has long existed. The objective of this study is to evaluate the prognosis and clinical outcome following the use of single-burr hole craniostomy technique in the aim of surgical evacuation of CSDH. Results This is a retrospective study of 30 patients, with symptomatic unilateral or bilateral CSDH managed by the authors strictly by single-burr hole evacuation with closed-system drainage on the corresponding site of the hematoma. Clinical outcome was then assessed at 1, 7, and 30 days after surgery using the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) and by comparing the Markwalder grade scale before surgery to 1 month following surgery; the pre- and post-operative radiological data, clinical neurological progress and the possible incidence of complications postoperatively were also recorded. Study duration was from August 2019 to October 2020. Our study included 18 (60%) male patients and 12 (40%) female patients. The main presenting symptom was altered level of consciousness noted in 29 (96.7%) patients; a history of a relevant head trauma was recorded in 11 patients (36.7%). The GCS showed a statistically highly significant improvement comparing the preoperative to the postoperative values throughout the follow-up intervals (p = 0.001); similarly, the Markwalder score significantly improved 1 month after surgery, where 17 (63%) patients were Markwalder grade 0, 9(33.3%) patients were grade 1, a single patient (3.7%) was grade 2, and none were Markwalder grade 3. Conclusion Our study concluded that single-burr hole craniostomy with closed-system drainage for the management of symptomatic CSDH would be a sufficient approach to achieve a good surgical outcome with a low complication rate. Larger series and further studies would be yet considered with longer follow-up periods.

OBJECTIVE: Surgery is the mainstay of treatment for chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH). However, the best surgical method is still controversial. Three different methods including burr hole craniostomy (BHC), minicraniotomy (MC), and twist drill craniostomy (TDC) are commonly utilized. Besides, large craniotomy, trephine craniotomy [TC (single or double)], small craniotomy, and endoscopic removal are befittingly used in some situations, too. Hence, we performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to compare the effects between BHC and MC for surgical treatment in CSDH. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A literature research was conducted according to the PRISMA (the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines for studies that directly compared BHC and MC for CSDH. The following endpoints were compared between BHC and MC: recurrence rate, reoperation rate, duration of operation, days of hospital treatment, postoperative complications, mortality, and rate of good outcome. RESULTS: Thirteen papers [n = 3,559 (3,580 operation sites), BHC: 1,936 operation sites, MC: 1,644 operation sites] met the inclusion criteria. The recurrence rate (OR: 0.56, 95% CI: 0.34-0.91, p = 0.02; I² = 66%) was lower and the reoperation rate was also significantly lower (OR: 0.45, 95% CI: 0.25-0.81, p = 0.008; I² = 72%) in the BHC group compared with the MC group. The duration of operation (MD: -20.15 min, 95% CI: -28.99 to -11.31, p < 0.00001; I² = 0%) was significantly shorter in the BHC group compared with the MC group. Nevertheless, there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in mortality (OR: 1.22, 95% CI: 0.92-1.61, p = 0.16; I² = 38%), postoperative complications (OR: 0.68, 95% CI: 0.033-1.37, p = 0.28; I² = 82%), days of hospital treatment (MD: 1.59, 95% CI: -10.44 to 13.62, p = 0.14; I² = 85%) and rate of good outcome (OR: 1.40, 95% CI: 0.94-2.08, p = 0.10; I² = 0%). CONCLUSIONS: A systematic review and meta-analysis of the included literature showed that BHC reduces the recurrence rate, reoperation rate and duration of operation compared to MC. BHC is much more minimal invasive when compared to MC. More invasions may signify more post-operative complications, which may cause the increasing rate of recurrence and reoperation. Background: In resource challenged environments, the standard treatment of chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) in the theater may be delayed because of the endemic financial constraint and logistic problems with consequent negative impact on the outcome. An emergency bedside burr hole craniostomy with a local anesthetic at the accident and emergency ward may be lifesaving in patients presenting in extreme neurological conditions in these settings. Case Description: We presented three patients (one male and two females) with CSDH who presented at our service in poor neurological condition. The patients were between 49 and 70 years. The Glasgow Coma Score ranged from 3 to 6. The three patients had respiratory and pupillary abnormalities at presentation. They all had bedside single frontal burr hole craniostomy drainage of the hematoma under local anesthesia at the accident and emergency unit of the hospital. Surgery was done within 1 h of review by the neurosurgical team in all cases. The duration of hospital stay ranged from 8 to 24 days. The outcome was good in all cases. Conclusion: Bedside single burr hole craniostomy at the accident and emergency unit may be lifesaving in patients with CSDH who present in extreme neurological condition but in whom prompt standard surgical treatment in the theater is not feasible. Worldwide, different strategies are being applied for symptomatic chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH). The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of two treatment strategies for symptomatic CSDH: initial dexamethasone (DXM) therapy versus primary surgery by burr hole craniostomy (BHC). We retrospectively collected data for 120 symptomatic CSDH patients in two neurotrauma centers between 2014 and 2016, each with their own treatment protocol. Sixty patients received primary BHC (center A), and another 60 initial DXM therapy (center B). Primary outcome was evaluated by dichotomized modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score (0–3 and 4–6) and Markwalder Grading Scale (MGS) score at 3 months. Secondary outcomes were additional interventions, CSDH recurrence, mortality, complications, and duration of hospital stay. Baseline characteristics were similar in both groups. At 3 months, a favorable mRS score (0–3) was observed in 70% and 76% of patients in cohort A and B, respectively (odds ratio [OR] 0.77, 95% CI 0.30–1.98; p = 0.59). A favorable MGS score (0–1) was observed in 96% of patients in both groups (OR 0.98, 95% CI 0.45–2.15; p = 0.95). CSDH recurrence was 12% in cohort A and 22% in cohort B (p = 0.15). Mortality was 10% in both cohorts. In cohort B, additional surgery was performed in 83% at a median of 6 days, and significantly more patients had complications (55% vs. 35%, p = 0.02), a prolonged hospitalization (10 vs. 5 days; p = 0.02), and one or more follow-up cranial CT's (85% vs. 48%; p < 0.001). To achieve a favorable clinical outcome, initial DXM therapy was associated with a high rate of crossover to surgery, significantly longer overall hospital stay, and more complications compared with primary surgery. Background  Chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) is predominantly a disease of the elderly. Objectives  This article studies the clinical and radiological outcomes in patients with CSDH who had undergone bedside percutaneous twist drill craniostomy (TDC). Patients and Methods  A retrospective study was conducted in 80 patients who had undergone percutaneous TDC for CSDH between January 2017 and December 2018. Patients between 18 and 90 years of age were selected. CSDH showing computed tomography (CT) scan findings of homogeneous hypodensity, homogeneous isodensity, mixed density, and CSDH with hyperdense gravity-dependent fluid level were selected. CT evidence of multiple septations, recurrent CSDH, bilateral CSDH, and acute on CSDH were excluded. The presence of midline shift (MLS) was measured as any deviation of the septum pellucidum from the midline. The mass effect was determined by the effacement of the sulci, Sylvian fissure obscuration, or compression of lateral ventricles. Postoperative decrease in the signs and symptoms were considered as the postoperative clinical improvement. Improvement in the postoperative CT scan was determined by the decrease in the thickness of CSDH and absence of MLS with decrease in the mass effect. The presence of the CSDH with mass effect and MLS was considered as the significant residue in the postoperative CT scan. Statistical Analysis  Statistical analysis is done using Epi Info software. Results  The mean age range was 67.78 years ± 12.03 standard deviation (SD). There were 49 (61.25%) males and 31 (38.75%) females. Thirty-eight (47.5%) CSDHs were on the right side and 42 (52.5%) on the left side. The locations were in the frontotemporoparietal region in 91.25% patients and in the frontoparietal region in 8.75% patients. The mean duration of symptoms was 4.62 days ± 5.20 SD. History of trauma was present in 58.75% patients. The mean duration of trauma was 45.78 days ± 28.32 SD. The most common symptoms were weakness of the limbs (68.75%), altered sensorium or decreased memory (52.5%), and headache (32.5%). The preoperative Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score ranged from 4 to 15 (mean 12.86 ± 2.98 SD). Limb motor weakness was noted in 75% patients. The maximum thickness of the CSDH (in millimeter) in axial CT scan was 8 to 32 (mean 23.22 ± 4.87 SD). All of the 80 patients had MLS. Postoperative GCS ranged from 3 to 15 (mean 14.1 ± 2.78 SD). Postoperative power was improved in 95% of affected limbs. Postoperative power was deteriorated (including patients of complications and death) in 5% patients. Clinical improvement was noted in 93.75% patients. Postoperative CT scan improvement was noted in 95% patients. Two patients (2.5%) had significant residue which required reoperation. Two patients (2.5%) developed extradural hematoma which was operated. Five (6.25%) patients developed complications, among which 4 (5%) patients died. The mean duration of stay in the hospital was 6.82 days ± 4.16 SD. Conclusions  CSDH is a disease of elderly population. CSDH is more common in male population. The most common symptom is weakness of the limbs. High clinical and radiological improvement can be achieved with TDC. Introduction: Standard craniotomy (SC) and burr hole craniostomy (BHC) are regarded as the standard approaches to chronic subdural haematoma (CSDH). Bedside twist drill craniostomy (TDC), performed at the patient's bedside, was introduced as an alternative to the standard methods. However, clinical and radiological features of patients treated with TDC and BHC/SC have not been compared. Aim: To demonstrate the specific features of CSDH that affect the surgeons' preferences when selecting patients for TDC. Material and methods: A retrospective analysis of 32 patients treated due to CSDH in the year 2017 at a single institution was performed. Baseline radiological characteristics, clinical status at admission, complication rate and clinical outcomes were compared between BHC/SC and TDC. Results: Of the 32 patients, 5 (15.6%) were treated using TDC and 27 (84.4%) by SC or BHC. The duration of the TDC procedure was significantly shorter than the time of standard therapies (p < 0.01). There were no differences between TDC and BHC/SC in terms of baseline clinical characteristics, including age, gender, head trauma history, diabetes, hypertension, antiplatelet drug use, clinical manifestation and the Glasgow Coma Scale score (all p > 0.05). Patients treated with TDC had a significantly thicker haematoma (TDC vs. BHC/SC: mean 25.3 mm vs. 14.6 mm) (p < 0.01) and demonstrated a smaller midline shift (TDC vs. BHC/SC: mean 0.5 mm vs. 4.0 mm) (p = 0.01) compared to those treated with BHC/SC. Conclusions: Twist drill craniostomy is a more effective method for CSDH evacuation compared to SC and BHC. Material and Methods: The study was a prospective randomized controlled trial on patients with chronic subdural hematomas. Results: Both procedures are comparable with respect to outcome but surgical duration is statistically higher in Burr Hole craniostomy than Twist Drill Craniostomy. Conclusion: Twist Drill Craniostomy is procedure of choice in emergency surgical situation.

Background: The purpose of this study was to assess whether preanesthetic laboratory values can predict in-hospital mortality and morbidity in patients who have undergone burr hole craniostomy due to chronic subdural hematoma. Methods: From January 2007 to February 2016, the records of 502 consecutive patients who underwent burr hole craniotomy were analyzed. All cases of burr hole craniostomy were fitted with a drain, as required by our institutional protocol. Results: Patients' demographic data and preoperative laboratory values were subjected to logistic regression analysis to predict in-hospital mortality and morbidity after burr hole craniostomy. Hemoglobin, prothrombin time, activated partial thromboplastin time, serum glucose, and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) were found to be significantly associated with in-hospital mortality and morbidity by univariate regression analysis, but of these, only hsCRP (hazard ratio 1.210, 95 % confidence interval 1.089-1.345, P < 0.001) was found to significantly predict in-hospital mortality and morbidity by multivariate regression analysis. Areas under the curve for predicting in-hospital mortality and morbidity were 0.765 (95 % confidence interval 0.624-0.906, P = 0.002) and 0.646 (0.559-0.733, P = 0.001), respectively. Conclusions: Preoperative hsCRP was found to be an independent predictor of in-hospital mortality and morbidity after burr hole craniostomy due to chronic subdural hematoma. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of single burr hole (SBH) versus double burr hole (DBH) drainage on the recurrence rate of chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH)., Method: Forty-four patients undergoing burr hole craniostomy (BHC) between July 2022 and December 2022 were enrolled in a randomized clinical trial (RCT) comparing SBH to DBH surgeries. The primary endpoint of this study was the recurrence rate of CSDH. Radiological characteristics such as midline shift, thickness, volume, density, type of hematoma, brain atrophy and so on were secondary endpoints., Results: Forty-four patients participated in this study. Twenty-two hematomas underwent SBH craniostomy, and the other 22 had DBH craniostomy. The mean age in the SBH and DBH groups were 68.59 ± 7.94 and 69.54 ± 10.58, respectively. In each group, the proportion of males (SBH=16; DBH=15) was higher than that of females (SBH=6; DBH=7). The mean surgery time in the SBH group was significantly less than in the DBH group (p = 0.001). However, the two groups had no statistically significant difference in the CSDH recurrence rate (p = 0.312)., Conclusion: Our findings showed that SBH craniostomy is equally effective as DBH craniostomy at draining hematomas and does not increase the recurrence rate. Contrarily, the SBH craniostomy had a shorter surgical duration than the DBH craniostomy. As a result, we recommend SBH surgeries for all patients, with emphasis on the elderly and those with severe comorbidities, as well as in situations with few surgical facilities and a high patient admission rate., (Copyright © 2023 Elsevier B.V. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of half-saline (HS) serum as an irrigation solution in chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) surgery using the burr hole craniostomy (BHC) technique., Methods: This randomized clinical trial was conducted in university hospital referral centers from 2020 to 2021. Sixty-three patients with CSDH eligible for BHC were primarily enrolled. Two patients were excluded because of concurrent stroke. Sixty-one patients were randomly allocated into case (HS=30) and control (normal-saline [NS]=31) groups. HS was used to irrigate the hematoma in the case group and NS was used in the control group. The patients were followed-up. Clinical variables including demographic and medical findings, postoperative computed tomography findings, postoperative complications, hospitalization period, recurrence rate, and functional status measured by the Barthel type B index were recorded., Results: Forty-six of 61 patients were male (75.4%), and the patients' mean age was 65.4±16.9 years, with equal distribution between the 2 groups. Postoperative effusion and postoperative hospital stay duration were significantly lower in the HS group than in the NS group ( p =0.002 and 0.033, respectively). The postoperative recurrence within 3 months in both groups was approximately equal (6.6%). Objective: Comparison of evacuation of hematoma through burr hole irrigation (BHI) and closed system drainage (CSD) after burr hole irrigation in the treatment of chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) in terms of relapse. Materials and Methods: 32 patients who were operated with CSDH diagnosis between 2001 and 2008 were retrospectively evaluated with respect to clinical features, etiologic factors, surgical technique and recurrence. Of the 5 recurrent cases in BHI group, 2 (20%) received tap and 3 received excision of hematoma via craniotomy. No pathology requiring additional surgery was detected in the follow-up of the patients who underwent BHI-CSD. Conclusion: Closed system drainage through burr hole irrigation in CSDH cases is a simple and reliable method which reduces the risk for recurrence and reoperation and enables evacuation of anticoagulants such as plasminogen and thrombomodulin, products of impaired coagulation- anticoagulation balance. Background. Chronic subdural haematoma is one of the most common entities encountered in daily practice. Many methods of treatment have been reported, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Method. The authors present a novel technique for the management of chronic subdural haematoma which is a variation of a closed drainage system. After evacuation of the haematoma through a single burr hole, we inserted a Jackson Pratt drain into the subgaleal space, with suction facing the burr hole, allowing for continuous drainage of the remaining haematoma. Findings. We used the method for over 4 years to treat 224 patients. Seventeen patients (7.6%) needed a second operation for a recurrence of the haematoma no patient required a third operation. Postoperative complications developed in 3 patients. Two patients died while in the hospital, a mortality rate of 0.9%. Conclusions. The use of suction assisted evacuation, is followed by results that compare satisfactorily to reports of previous methods, with a low rate of recurrence and complications. Objective: To review the outcome of surgical treatment for chronic subdural haematoma (CSDH) at a local neurosurgical centre, with emphasis on major treatment-related complications. Method: A total of 108 patients received operations for chronic subdural haematoma at the University of Hong Kong Medical Centre between January 1995 and December 1999. Medical records and imaging studies were studied retrospectively. Patients’ clinical features and treatment modalities were analysed and major postoperative complications, including mortality, haematoma recurrence, infection and epileptic seizure, were studied. Results: All 108 patients underwent burr hole craniostomy for the drainage of CSDH; one patient also underwent formal craniotomy. Recurrence occurred in six (5.5%) patients, seizure in two (1.8%) and intracranial infection in one (0.9%). There were four deaths, giving rise to a mortality of 3.7%. All four patients who died were elderly and had presented in an unconscious state and died subsequently of chest infection after surgery. Conclusion: Although surgical drainage of CSDH is often considered to be a straightforward, effective and safe procedure, it is not entirely without risks. Chronic subdural hematomas are commonly encountered pathologies in neurologic surgery. Primary management for a symptomatic lesion usually entails surgical intervention. There is controversy regarding ideal modality selection among twist drill craniostomy, bur hole craniostomy, and craniotomy. Variations of the craniotomy include a minicraniotomy (usually defined as 30-40 mm diameter), minicraniectomy, and with or without either a partial or full membranectomy. In addition to medical complications, potential surgical complications include recurrence, seizures, intraparenchymal hemorrhage, and infection. Objective: Although twist-drill craniostomy (TDC) has a number of procedural advantages and an equivalent outcome compared to burr hole craniostomy (BHC) for the treatment of chronic subdural hematomas (CSDHs), the latter technique remains the preferred method. We analyzed symptomatic CSDHs in whom TDC at the pre-coronal suture entry point (PCSEP) was the primary method for hematoma drainage and BHC on the parietal was the secondary option., Methods: CSDHs in 86 consecutive patients were included. TDC at the PCSEP, which is 1 cm anterior to coronal suture at the level of the superior temporal line, was the primary operational technique when the hematoma thickness was suitable, and BHC was performed via the parietal when TDC was unreasonable or failed. The clinical feasibility and outcomes of these approaches were analyzed., Results: Of the 86 patients, 68 (79.1%) were treated by TDC, and 18 (20.9%) by BHC. All patients showed improvements in their symptoms after hematoma drainage. Neither morbidity nor mortality was associated with either technique, and there were no differences in drainage days between the groups. Ten patients had bilateral hematomas and were treated using TDC. Two patients were not sufficiently treated by TDC and, as a result, BHC was applied. Only six hematomas (7% of 86 hematomas) exhibited insufficient thickness on the computed tomography to perform TDC., Conclusion: When the hematoma was thick enough, a majority of the CSDHs were drained using TDC at the PCSEP as the first procedure, which was especially useful for bilateral hematomas and in elderly patients., Competing Interests: The authors have no financial conflicts of interest.

Objective: Several surgical procedures have been reported for the treatment of chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH). We compared the results of treatments for CSDH obtained from one burr-hole craniostomy with closed system drainage with or without irrigation, two burr-hole craniostomy with closed system drainage with irrigation, and small craniotomy with irrigation and closed-system drainage., Methods: Eighty-seven patients with CSDH underwent surgery at our institution from January 2004 to December 2008. Our patients were classified into three groups according to the operative procedure; group I, one burr-hole craniostomy with closed system drainage with or without irrigation (n = 25), group II, two burr-hole craniostomy with closed system drainage with irrigation (n = 32), and group III, small craniotomy with irrigation and closed-system drainage (n = 30)., Results: Age distribution, male and female ratio, Markwalder's grade on admission and at the time of discharge, size of hematoma before and after surgery, duration of operation, Hounsfield unit of hematoma before and after surgery, duration of hospital treatment, complication rate, and revision rate were categories that we compared between groups. Duration of operation and hospitalization were only two categories which were different. But, when comparing burr hole craniostomy group (group I and group II) with small craniotomy group (group III), duration of post-operative hospital treatment, complication and recurrence rate were statistically lower in small craniotomy group, even though operation time was longer., Conclusion: Such results indicate that small craniotomy with irrigation and closed-system drainage can be considered as one of the treatment options in patients with CSDH.
