The Bosnian town of Visoko has in recent years become a New Age pilgrimage site. Several formations in the landscape have been branded as ancient pyramids and tunnels. These purported monuments from bygone times are administrated by a private foundation led by the Bosnian American entrepreneur Semir Osmanagić. His claim is that the structures at Visoko were built tens of thousands of years ago by an advanced civilization that mastered a technology that enabled the concentration of healing energies. This controversial assertion is supported by invoking the supposed scientific proofs for the existence of these energies and by prominently displaying various legitimizing visual and material props. The prospect of coming into contact with the mysterious powers emanating from the site attracts numerous visitors and has led to the commodification of the pyramid and tunnel complex.

The phenomenon of resonance is something known about for thousands of years. It is often only partially understood, confused with episodes of mystical philosophy. We find traces of it in ancient writes and in the oral tradition, but also in ancient artifacts and prehistoric architecture. Armed with this background and previous experience we opted to study the Ravne tunnels (Visoko, Bosnia-Herzegovina). These were considered by some to be very old mines perhaps of the Neolithic period, but without valuing it as a very special temple, where ceremonies could have taken place. Sound examination was immediately possible to verify a response sound resonance at very low frequencies, which lasted up to 20 seconds after the end of harmonic singing. The sound response of the tunnel was approximately 74 Hz, showing the shape of a wave similar to a Gaussian curve easily excited by the singers. The experience lasted several hours and was always repeated at the right vocal strain, confirming the repeatability of the phenomenon on equal terms. Although only preliminary, the examination carried out shows it would appear difficult to achieve a similar sound in a structure whose path is just random as is typical of a mine. The duration of the phenomenon does not appear typical of an echo or a reverberation. Rather it is more typical of a resonance phenomenon evidently sought through a link between the structure and the human voice. Further research is necessary using sound generators (electronic oscillators) that are able to resonate with the exact structure. An operation that we hope to undertake in the coming months.

Following in the footsteps of British researchers in the late 70 '(Dragon Project), for about six months we have researched the presence of the emission of ultrasounds from the megalithic structures in Visoko Valley. For our study we used two types of devices capable of capturing with remarkable sensitivity the presence of ultrasounds: a compander (a device that can instantly transform ultrasounds radiation into audible sound) and highly sensitive professional recorders and microphones able to record ultrasounds in order to analyze their characteristics in professional studio. These two different types of methods of research have still achieved the same results because we have confirmed the presence of ultrasounds emitted from the apex of the Pyramid of the Sun, the Pyramid of the Moon, the Tumulus of Vratnica and within Ravne’s Labyrinth.. The latter in particular was an ideal environment for this type of study for its quietness, so that we could also record an infrasonic activity. We also used different types of equipments and microphones to exclude introduction of spurious frequencies by their own devices, but we can conclude that in these structures exist an emission of ultrasounds with special features not found in the surrounding hills, or nearby. We started, therefore, an analysis about electromagnetic activity in the same locations and the results so far appear very similar and overlapping, but we should be studied further this aspect too before obtaining definitive results.

During the research for a structure had buried for centuries, a proper study is necessary to limit the excavation area and the possibility of damaging the structure with mishandling. In the case of Ravne’s tunnel proceeding to remove the earth that filled them, we realized that this solution could be conceived by the builders or by those after them to protect and hide better something placed below the current floor or inside the walls. For this study we started to study the whole system of tunnels looking to find out a possible abnormality in the levels and shape of the galleries from the architectural point of view, but also we have begun to look for the presence of something under the floor with the GPR (georadar) . We therefore used a GPR model Detector Duo IDS (Pisa – Italy) with new dual wide-band frequency antenna at 250 MHz and 700 MHz for geological features that can reach 5 meters deep in the survey, even in difficult wet conditions, able to obtain high resolution reliable images. In this way we have identified an anomaly at about 90 meters from the entrance whom we represent in this article in its features and even through this study may be more easily brought to light.

At the end of April 2011, in a new section of Ravne’s underground prehistoric compound that was being cleared, an interesting piece of handwork was discovered by one of our close collaborators, a worker of the Bosnian Foundation of the Sun Pyramid. From the earth filling up the tunnels a small, roundish sandtone rock emerged. It had two surfaces that had been polished and then carved by a human hand. The stone’s dimensions were equal to 4x5 cm and its thickness around 3 cm. Side A, as we will call it from now on, displayed a deeply carved triangle. Close to the triangle’s base there is a further angle with its bisector and in this point the carving seems less deep.

Many scientists know that famous geologists and archeologists doubted the artificial origin of very ancient structures in Visoko Valley and even the presence of an ancient civilization in these areas, particularly with an advanced level of technology. Yet, as excavations proceed, a very ancient, increasingly complex and sophisticated underground maze is emerging. Therefore, after telephone news coming from the Ravne tunnels, we rapidly organized a new joint scientific expedition of the University of Trieste and Politecnico of Milan, in collaboration with the Foundation which is managing the excavations. What we discovered this time is even more amazing than previous expeditions so we decided to publish it immediately. But it’s just the beginning. - Molti studiosi sanno che celebri geologi e archeologi hanno messo in dubbio la presenza di una civiltà anticamente presente in questi luoghi e soprattutto di un livello tecnologicamente elevato. Ma, man mano che si procede negli scavi, viene sempre più alla luce la presenza di un enorme labirinto sotterraneo antichissimo sempre più elaborato e sofisticato. Così dopo le ultime notizie giunteci telefonicamente dai tunnel di Ravne abbiamo organizzato molto rapidamente una nuova spedizione scientifica congiunta tra elementi dell’Università degli Studi di Trieste e del Politecnico di Milano in collaborazione con la Fondazione Bosniaca della Piramide del Sole che cura gli scavi.

After plumbing the depths of Ravne’s tunnels and their connections to a technologically advanced population, we believed we had to evaluate possibile dangers that could be still existing in this structure, and that required its sealing. Has this structure been sealed because there has been a radioactive escape or because of other dangerous materials? Is there still a danger for workers and for those who are trying to unveil its secrets? Therefore we wanted to start analysing ionizing radiations existing inside this labyrinth. In October 2010 the Veterinary Department of the University of Sarajevo carried out an analysis, but then we did one too in November 2010. Results were not overlapping and they somehow contrasted those obtained by the ones preceding us. - Dopo aver scandagliato i misteri che riguardano i tunnel di Ravne e la loro relazione con una civiltà tecnologicamente avanzata ci è sembrato opportuno valutare anche le possibili pericolosità ancora insite in questa struttura che potrebbero aver richiesto la sua sigillatura. Questa struttura è stata sigillata forse perché ci sono dentro materiali radioattivi o altro materiale pericoloso? C’è ancora pericolo per gli operatori e per chi cerca di svelarne i segreti? Si è voluto pertanto cominciare ad analizzare le radiazioni ionizzanti presenti in questo labirinto. Nell’ottobre 2010 c’è stata l’analisi svolta da parte della Facoltà di Veterinaria dell’Università di Sarajevo. Poi siamo arrivati noi nel novembre 2010, ma con risultati non del tutto sovrapponibili e per alcuni versi contrastanti rispetto a chi ci ha preceduto.
