Aim To investigate the correlation between blood lipid level and the severity of coronary artery calcification (CAC) in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Methods 205 CKD patients treated with PD in our hospital from June 2018 to December 2021 were selected as the study subjects, according to the CAC scores, they were divided into calcified group (n =152) and non-calcified group (n =53), and the patients in calcified group were divided into mild calcification group (n =61), moderate calcification group (n =50), and severe calcification group (n =41). The differences in clinical data and laboratory indicators were compared through univariate analysis. The restricted cubic spline fitting Logistic regression model was used to analyze the relationship between blood lipid levels and CAC. Multiple Logistic regression model was used to analyze the influencing factors, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was drawn to explore the predictive value of blood lipid levels for the severity of CAC. Results Compared with the non-calcified group, the age, diabetes ratio, body mass index(BMI), triglyceride(TG), total cholesterol(TC), low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDLC), and blood phosphorus levels increased significantly in the calcified group, the levels of uric acid(UA), high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDLC), blood magnesium, and 25-hydroxyvitamin D3(25-(OH)-VitD3) were significantly reduced (P<0. 05); Logistic regression showed that adjusted TC (OR=1. 79, 95%CI:1. 56 ~2. 10), TG(OR=2. 13, 95%CI:1. 86 ~2. 41), HDLC(OR=0. 67, 95%CI:0. 42 ~0. 84), LDLC(OR=2. 01, 95%CI:1. 78 ~2. 32) were still a risk factor for the occurrence of CAC after adjusting for age, diabetes and other factors, and as the levels of TG, TC, and LDLC increased, the levels of HDLC decreased, and their correlation effect values also increased correspondingly (Ptrend <0. 05). Compared with the mild calcification group, the age, TG, and TC of the moderate and severe calcification groups significantly increased, HDLC significantly decreased, UA significantly increased in the moderate calcification group, LDLC and blood phosphorus significantly increased in the severe calcification group, while blood magnesium and 25-(OH)-VitD3 significantly decreased; Compared with the moderate calcification group, the severe calcification group showed a significant increase in TC and LDLC, while UA and HDLC decreased significantly (all P<0. 05). And the multiple Logistic regression model showed that older age, higher levels of TG, TC, LDLC, and lower level of HDLC were independent risk factors for severe CAC in CKD patients after PD treatment (P< 0. 05). Restrictive cubic spline regression analysis showed a significant correlation between blood lipid levels and the severity of CAC. ROC curve analysis showed that the AUC of TG, TC, HDLC, and LDLC combined detection was 0. 897, with a sensitivity of 0. 899, and a specificity of 0. 826. This indicated that the predictive value of TG, TC, HDLC, and LDLC combined detection for the severity of CAC in CKD patients undergoing PD treatment was higher than any single indicator. Conclusion The increased levels of TG, TC, LDLC and decreased level of HDLC were significantly associated with the risk of CAC in CKD patients undergoing PD treatment, they were also involved in the occurrence and development of CAC, and their predictive value can be improved through joint examinations in clinical practice. Objective: Rheumatoid arthritis is a systemic disease characterized by progressive chronic inflammation resulting in destruction of synovial joints. In addition to joint involvement, abnormal blood lipid indexes have also been found in RA patients. The correlation between various blood lipid indexes and the treatment effects were assessed in patients with rheumatoid arthritis, for the purposes to find a better medication strategy for RA. Methods: One hundred nineteen rheumatoid arthritis patients were recruited and divided into two groups, 45 patients with significant drug treatment effect and 45 patients with insignificant drug treatment effect through the nearest neighbor matching method in propensity score. The correlation between various blood lipid indexes and drug treatment effect of rheumatoid arthritis patients was analyzed. A mouse model of rheumatoid arthritis was constructed in the laboratory; methotrexate was treated as a positive drug. We observe and record the onset of rheumatoid arthritis in mice, as well as the proportion of immune cells, the expression of inflammatory factors, and the changes in blood lipid profiles was done. Results: The levels of total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high density lipoprotein (HDL-C), low density lipoprotein (LDL-C), and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) in rheumatoid arthritis patients were significantly different between the two groups (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in other indexes between the two groups (P > 0.05). Methotrexate had a good therapeutic effect on CIA model mice, and the levels of TC and HDL-C in the treatment group were higher than those in the model group. Conclusion: There is a high correlation between the levels of TC and HDL-C in rheumatoid arthritis patients and the effect of drug treatment. In the clinical treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, we should focus on improving the blood lipid indexes such as TC and HDL-C, and explore more targeted individualized administration, so as to achieve better and faster treatment effect in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. The Exp group received the hospital-community-family integrated nursing mode, whereas Con group adopted conventional nursing. Outcome measures included patient compliance, mental state, and blood cholesterol levels.Results: Patients with integrated nursing exhibited markedly higher compliance than those with conventional nursing, as evinced by higher scores of compliance behavior, compliance awareness, medication attitude, and treatment attitude (P < 0.05). Integrated nursing offered more potent mitigation of negative emotions of patients than conventional nursing (P < 0.05). Integrated nursing resulted in better enhanced quality of life of patients versus conventional nursing (P < 0.05). Superior blood lipid amelioration was observed in patients after integration nursing versus those after conventional nursing, demonstrated by a higher serum high-density lipoprotein (HDL) level, and lower levels of triglycerides (TG), cholesterol (TC), and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) (P < 0.05). Patients were more satisfied with integrated nursing (96.97%) than conventional nursing (72.73%), suggesting a high patient acceptance of the nursing mode (P < 0.05).Conclusion: The hospital-community-family integrated nursing model provides a viable alternative to enhance HLP patients’ compliance and optimize their psychological state and blood lipid levels, demonstrating good potential for clinical promotion.Keywords: hospital-community-family, nursing model, hyperlipidemia pancreatitis, compliance, blood lipid level

ObjectiveTo systematically evaluate the role of blood lipid level in predicting the risk of Alzheimer′s disease (AD). MethodsWe searched Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Database, VIP Database for Chinese Technical Periodicals (VIP), Pubmed, Web of Science, Springer, and Cocharne Library for literatures on the correlation between AD incidence and blood lipid level published in Chinese or English till June 2021 and supplementary manual tracing for some of the references was also conducted. Newcastle-Ottawa-Scale literature quality evaluation scale was adopted to evaluate the quality of the included studies. Statistical analyses were performed with RevMan5.3 software. ResultsA total of 15 eligible studies were selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and the data on blood lipid level were collected from 1 435 healthy elderly people and 2 162 elderly people with AD. Meta-analysis showed that there was no significant difference in total cholesterol (TC) and triglyceride (TG) level between the AD sufferers and the healthy controls；low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) was significantly higher in the AD sufferers than that in the healthy controls (mean difference [MD] = 3.59，95% confidence interval [95% CI]: 0.98 – 6.21); while, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) was significantly lower in the AD sufferers than that in the healthy controls (MD = – 3.47，95% CI: – 5.94 – – 0.99). ConclusionHigher LDL-C level but lower HDL-C level may indicate a higher risk of AD in older adults.

The fluctuation of blood lipid level is affected by a variety of risk factors. In addition to non-interventionable risk factors such as age, sex, pregnancy, genetics, and meteorological factors, it is also closely related to intervention risk factors such as smoking, drinking, overweight/obesity, body mass index, diet/exercise, drug factors, hypertension, diabetes, hyperuricemia, etc. Dyslipidemia increases the risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease（ASCVD）. Background: Evidence regarding the association between particulate matter with aerodynamic diameter ≤2.5 μm (PM2.5) and blood lipid levels is insufficient in the rural areas of developing countries. Few studies have estimated the role of PM2.5 in blood lipid levels. We investigated the relationship between long-term exposure to PM2.5, blood lipids, and dyslipidaemia in rural Chinese adults.Methods: Baseline data of 15,802 participants (aged 35–74 years) in the China Northwest Cohort-Ningxia Project were used in this study. PM2.5 levels were assessed using satellite remote sensing data in accordance with each participant’s home address. Personally exposed PM2.5 was defined as the 3-year mean concentration prior to the baseline survey. Logistic and linear models were utilised to quantify the associations of PM2.5 with the prevalence of dyslipidaemia and with blood lipids, including total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C).Results: The 3-year mean level of PM2.5 was 35.36 ± 4.21 μg/m3. Every 1-μg/m3 increase in PM2.5 was related to an increase of 0.04% (95% CI: −0.44–0.53%) in TG and decreases of 0.37% (95% CI: 0.16–0.90%) in TC, 5.76% (95% CI: 5.32–6.21%) in LDL-C, and 0.89% (95% CI: 0.72–1.05%) in HDL-C. Every 1-μg/m3 increment in PM2.5 was related with a 4% (95% CI:3–5%) and 18% (95% CI:16–20%) higher risk of dyslipidaemia and hypoalphalipoproteinemia, respectively, and a decrease of 11% (95% CI:10–13%) in hyperbetalipoproteinemia. Sex, age, and BMI were adjusted for the relationships between PM2.5, blood lipids, and dyslipidaemia.Conclusion: Greater PM2.5 exposure was related to harmful changes in blood lipids and dyslipidaemia. Male, elderly, and overweight individuals may be more vulnerable to the negative effects of PM2.5.

Objective: To establish a mouse model of affective disorder complicated with atherosclerosis (AS) by high fat feeding and chronic mild unpredictable stimulation (CUMS), and to provide an animal model for the later study of the prevention and treatment of affective disorder complicated with atherosclerosis by traditional Chinese medicine. Methods: 10 C57BL/6J mice were used as blank group, and 20 ApoE-/- mice were randomly divided into AS group and AS+CUMS group. After one week of adaptive feeding, except for the blank group, the other two groups were fed with high fat diet. Meanwhile, the AS+CUMS group was given chronic unpredictable mild stress. The model was evaluated after 16 weeks of modeling. During the experiment, the body weight, food intake, excitability, hair color and other general morphology of mice in each group were observed and recorded. Behavioral indexes (Sucrose preference tests and Open Field test) were detected in each group. The levels of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis hormones, including adrenocorticotropin (ACTH) and corticosterone (CORT), were detected by ELISA. Serum lipid levels, including total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), were detected by ELISA. HE staining was used to observe the pathological condition of aorta. Results: Compared with blank group, the excitability and food intake of AS+CUMS group were significantly decreased. There were no significant differences in sugar water consumption and activity capacity of mice in AS group, while sugar water consumption and activity capacity of mice in AS+CUMS group were significantly decreased (P < 0.01). The serum 5-HT levels in AS group and AS+CUMS group were decreased, and the levels of ACTH and CORT in AS+CUMS group were significantly decreased (P < 0.01), and the levels of ACTH and CORT in AS+CUMS group were significantly increased (P < 0.01). The serum TC, TG and LDL-C levels of mice in AS group and AS+CUMS group were significantly increased (P < 0.01), while the HDL-C level of mice in both groups was significantly decreased (P < 0.01). HE staining results showed that the area and degree of plaques in the active vascular lumen of AS group and AS+CUMS group were larger and heavier. Objective: The objective of this study was to provide a descriptive analysis of the clinical outcomes achieved in oocyte vitrification in cases where sperm was unavailable on oocyte retrieval day, and to identify predictors of oocyte survival.Methods: This retrospective cohort study used data from a university-affiliated reproductive medical center. There were 321 cycles in which some of, or all oocytes were vitrified owing to the unavailability of sperm between March 2009 and October 2017. A descriptive analysis of the clinical outcomes including both fresh embryo transfers and cryopreserved embryo transfers was provided. The ability of an individual parameter to forecast oocyte survival per thawing cycle was assessed by binary logistic regression analysis. The cumulative probability of live birth (CPLB) was estimated by using the Kaplan-Meier method according to the total number of oocytes thawed in consecutive procedures.Results: The average survival rate was 83.13%. High-quality embryo rate and blastocyst rate decreased significantly decreased significantly in vitrification oocyte group compared to fresh control oocytes. The comparison of sibling oocytes in part-oocyte-vitrified cycles shows fewer high-quality embryos developed in the vitrified group. The live birth rate per warmed-oocyte was 4.3%. Reasons for lack of sperm availability on oocyte retrieval day and serum cholesterol levels were found to be associated with oocyte survival rate in the present study. Kaplan-Meier analysis showed no significant difference in CPLB between patients ≤35 vs. >35 years.Conclusions: Oocyte vitrification is an indispensable and effective alternative when sperm are not available on oocyte retrieval day. The present study provided evidence that oocytes from infertile couples were more likely to suffer oocyte/embryo vitrification injury. Clinicians need to take this into account when advising patients in similar situations. Further studies will be necessary to clarify the correlation between serum metabolism parameters and human oocyte survival after vitrification.

This study reports the various nutritional components of Selaginella tamariscina, which is traditionally used in folk or Chinese medicine. The iron nutrient content in S. tamariscina powder was 0.94 ± 0.06 mg/100 g powder, whereas selenium was present in a small amount, which showed strong antioxidant power. The total phenolic content of S. tamariscina powder was 8.65–11.61 mg gallic acid equivalents/g. S. tamariscina showed antioxidant activity in 2,2-azino-bis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity. The ferric reducing antioxidant power of S. tamariscina powder was higher in the ethanol extract. Additionally, the ethanol extract demonstrated antimicrobial activity against Bacillus subtilis KCTC 2189. The level of high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol in the blood of ICR mice was significantly higher in the HF 20% + S. tamariscina 20% group than in the other groups (p < 0.05). The present study demonstrates that S. tamariscina, an abundantly existing plant, possesses antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anticytotoxic activities. Studies have evaluated the effect of copper (Cu) supplementation on blood lipid level. We therefore investigated whether the supplement of Cu on blood lipid level will have an impact in a meta-analysis on randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Literature search was conducted in Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library (from database to January 2020). Randomized controlled trials of Cu supplementation on blood lipid level were retrieved according to the requirements of systematic review, and the quality of the included research was evaluated. Then the meta-analysis was performed. Data from 5 trials representing 176 participants were examined. Pooled mean net change in total cholesterol (TC) (standard mean difference(SMD) [95% CI] = − 0.05 [− 0.52, 0.43]), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) (SMD [95% CI] = 0.22 [− 0.46, 0.89]), and high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) (SMD [95% CI] = 0.18 [− 0.14, 0.49]) for those treated with Cu supplementation had no significant difference when compared with control. Cu supplementation has not affected blood lipids in the result of meta-analysis. More research is needed to determine if this pattern will apply broadly. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective To understand the distribution of apolipoprotein E (ApoE) gene polymorphism in patients with cardiovascular diseases in Shaanxi, and to explore its relationship with blood lipid levels and coronary heart disease. Type of relevance. Methods A group of Han people with cardiovascular disease in Shaanxi who were hospitalized in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University from January 2019 to December 2019 were selected. In 11533 patients, the ApoE gene was detected by the PCR-fluorescent probe method; 3884 patients with coronary heart disease were further selected to detect fasting blood lipid levels. For coronary heart disease classification, PCR-RFLP was used to analyze the polymorphism of ApoE gene. Results ApoE of cardiovascular disease patients in Han nationality in Shaanxi The proportions of each genotype E2/E2, E2/E3, E3/E3, E2/E4, E4/E4 and E3/E4 were 0.69%, 11.66%, 70.31%, 1.17%, 0.83% and At 15.34%, the E3 type was the highest in the genotype combination, accounting for 71.48%, followed by the E4 type, which was 16.17%, and the E2 type was the least, which was 12.35%. Abstract Background Despite the prevalence of overweight and obesity and increases in associated diseases such as diabetes and heart disease in the Saudi population, no studies have addressed the spread of obesity among Saudi police officers. Therefore, the present study aimed to assess the prevalence of overweight and obesity and associations with biochemical parameters among the police in Riyadh. Method The study involved a cross-sectional survey of 160 police officers in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Anthropometric measurements, blood pressure, lipid profiles and fasting blood sugar levels were measured for all individuals. Results According to the results, the average body mass index (BMI) was 27.5 ± 5.1, indicating an increase in overweight in this population and 66.9% were overweight or obese. Moreover, the mean systolic and diastolic blood pressure values were 119.5 and 79.4 mmHg, respectively, within normal limits. The mean total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C), and triglyceride (TG) levels were 187.5, 43.9, 119.5 and 124.5 mg/100 ml, respectively. Discussion These BMI and biochemical findings suggest a high proportion of overweight and obese individuals in the sample population, as well as an increase in the proportion of individuals with high levels of biochemical indicators who are therefore susceptible to heart disease and diabetes. Conclusion The study recommends using preventive programs to combat obesity and overweight and related diseases and conducting further studies using measures other than BMI.

Introduction: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a progressive metabolic disease, caused by insufficient insulin secretion and insulin resistance and it is related to components of metabolic syndrome. Magnesium is involved in lipid metabolism and choline improves cardiac function, and boosts insulin nicotinic and muscarinic cholinergic neurotransmitters in beta cells. Given the effects of magnesium and choline, it seems to be advisable to combine them to prevent complications of DM. Methods: The double-blind randomized clinical trial was conducted for 2 months and involved 96 DM patients of both genders and 30-60 years being randomly divided into four groups: 1: (n=24), 500 mg of magnesium oxide, 2: (n=24),1000 mg of choline, 3: (n=24), 500 mg of magnesium oxide and 1000 mg of choline, and 4: (n=24), placebo. Lipid profile of individuals was measured. Statistical analysis of the data was done with Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Chi-Square test, and ANCOVA. Results: At the end of the study, 74 patients completed the study. There was no statistically significant difference in general characteristics between the participants at the start of the study. At the end, decreased blood TG levels (p=0.04) and increased HDL levels (p=0.01) in group 3 were shown. Conclusion: Overall, choline and magnesium can have a significant impact on decreasing the TG levels and increasing the HDL of serum. Magnesium bind fatty acids in the gut and limit the absorption of it, hydrolysis of fatty acids, catabolize TG-rich lipoproteins, and produce HDL. Coronary heart disease is presently one of the leading causes of death In adults in many countries, including in Indonesia. It is well known that elevated levels of cholesterol in children are closely associated with hypercholesterolemia and coronary heart disease in adult life. This study was conducted in an attempt to find a preliminary insight of the magnitude of the problem of hypercholesterolemia In children In Indonesia as a developing country. The blood lipid levels of 54 preadolescent boys from well-Io-do families were analyzed. Two-third of those children were shown to have elevated blood cholesterol level, and even one third or 16 out of 54 preadolescents boys investigated suffered from hypercholesterolemia. We conclude that elevated blood cholesterol level is frequently found among large-framed and obese Indonesian children.

Objective: To explore the effects of transcranial magnetic stimulation combined with valproate injection in the treatment of status epilepticus. Methods: We selected 79 patients with status epilepticus who were diagnosed and treated in our hospital from August 2014 to August 2017. According to the different treatment methods, 40 patients were divided into observation group and 39 control groups. The control group was treated with sodium valproate injection, while the observation group was treated with transcranial magnetic stimulation on the basis of the control group. The two groups were treated for 1 months. Comparing the clinical total effective rate, occurrence of adverse reactions during treatment, and before and after treatment [All initial English abbreviations in the thesis must be supplemented with full English names] Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol( Changes in HDL-C, total cholesterol(TC), triglyceride(TG) levels, behavioral ability scores, passive muscle force scores, and active muscle force scores. Results: The total effective rate of the observation group and the control group were 97.5% and 84.6% respectively, and the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P <0.05). During the treatment, the incidence of adverse reactions such as headache, drowsiness, nausea and decreased appetite in the observation group was 10%, while that in the control group was 12.8%. There was no significant difference compared between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment, the levels of TG, TC and LDL-C in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the HDL-C levels between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment, the scores of the active muscle tension, the passive muscle tension and the behavioral ability of the observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group(P <0.05). Conclusion:Transcranial magnetic stimulation combined with sodium valproate injection in the treatment of status epilepticus can significantly improve the therapeutic effect, improve the patient’s neurobehavioral function, and will not affect the patient’s blood lipid levels and increase adverse reactions. Objective: To investigate the effect of Compound Danshen dripping pills combined with aspirin on platelet aggregation function and blood lipid level in patients with coronary heart disease(CHD). Methods: 320 patients with CHD treated in our hospital from October 2011 to December 2016 were selected as the subjects. All patients were divided into the control group and the observation group by random number table method, 160 cases in each group. Two groups of patients were treated with expanding crown, anticoagulation and antihypertensive drugs and other routine medical treatment, on this basis,the control group were treated with aspirin, and the observation group were treated with Compound Danshen dripping pills combined with aspirin. The two groups were treated for 6 months.The clinical efficacy,triglyceride(TG), total cholesterol(TC), low density lipoprotein(LDL), high density lipoprotein(HDL) and thromboxane B2(TXB2) levels between the two groups were compared. The maximum platelet aggregation rate(PAGM) and incidence of adverse events were recorded. Results: After treatment, the total effective rate of the observation group was 93.13%, which was significantly higher than 68.75% of the control group(P<0.05). 6 months after treatment, the levels of HDL in the observation group were higher than before treatment and control group, the levels of LDL, TC and TG were lower than before treatment and control group(P<0.05). 6 months after treatment, the levels of PAGM and TXB2 were significantly decreased in the two groups, and the levels of PAGM and TXB2 in the observation group were significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05). The incidence of adverse events in the observation group was 2.50%, which was significantly lower than 18.13% of the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion: Compound Danshen dripping pills combined with aspirin has good clinical efficacy in the treatment of CHD, can effectively inhibit platelet aggregation function, regulate blood lipids, reduce the incidence of adverse reactions, it is worthy of clinical promotion. The therapeutic effect of statins on the stabilization of atherosclerotic plaques has been affirmed. In recent years, the inhibition of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPS) of tetracycline drug doxycycline has attracted more and more attention. In this paper, we observed the effect of atorvastatin and doxycycline on exercise tolerance in patients with stable angina pectoris. The results showed that there was no significant difference in the clinical efficacy of the two groups and the effect on the exercise tolerance (P<0.05). There were 4 cases of mild gastrointestinal reaction in the doxycycline group and no other serious adverse reactions. The total effective rate of treatment in the doxycycline group was 93.3%. Doxycycline treatment significantly reduced the frequency of angina pectoris and the incidence of cardiovascular events, and the treatment effect was better. Objective: To analyze the changes of serum homocysteine (Hcy), renal function and blood lipid levels in renal transplanted recipients and their correlation, so as to investigate the application value of them in the evaluation of renal function after renal transplantation. Methods: A total of 300 cases of renal transplanted recipients followed up postoperatively, who were diagnosed as chronic renal failure and underwent renal transplantation in the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University during October 2013 to September 2016, were chosen as observation group; 100 healthy volunteers in the same period were chosen as control group.The levels of Hcy, total cholesterol (TC), three triacylglycerol (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) of the two groups were detected and compared. According to the different levels of Hcy in the observation group, the patients were further divided into Hcy normal group and Hcy abnormal group,and the blood lipid indexes of the two groups were compared. The level of cysteine protein inhibitorC (CysC) was measured and glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) was calculated. The correlation between serum Hcy and eGFR, blood lipid indexes levels in the observation group was analyzed.Logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the influencing factors of eGFR decline after renal transplantation in the observation group. Results: The levels of Hcy, TC, TG, HDL-C and LDL-C in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). The level of LDL-C in Hcy abnormal group was higher than that in Hcy normal group, while the level of HDL-C was lower than that in Hcy normal group (P<0.05). The serumHcy level of the observation group was negatively correlated with the levels of eGFR and HDL-C (r= -0.573, -0.414; P<0.05), and positively correlated with the level of TG (r=0.432, P<0.05), but was not related to TC and LDL-C (P>0.05). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that the levels of Hcy, TG and LDL-C were related to the decrease of eGFR in patients (P<0.05). Conclusion: After renal transplantation, the TG, LDL-C and Hcy levels in patients with chronic renal failure will rise and eGFR level will drop. The change of renal function after renal transplantation is related to the levels of serum TG, LDL-C and Hcy. Objective: To investigate the effects of different doses of rosuvastatin on lipid levels in elderly patients with CHD complicated with hyperlipidemia. Methods: 120 elderly patients with coronary heart disease admitted in our hospital were retrospectively chosen. By lipid examination, they were all hyperlipidemia. According to the dose of rosuvastatin, they were divided into three groups, and 40 cases in each group. They were given 5 mg, 10 mg and 20 mg treatment, respectively. After 2 months, the changes of blood lipid level and the clinical effective rate were compared before and after the treatment. Results:① The blood lipid levels HDL-C [(1.17 土 0.62) mmol / L] was significantly higher than the other two groups. LDL-C [(3.67 ± 0.83) mmol / L]，TC [(4.36 ± 0.96) mmol / L] and TG [ (1.68 土 0.94) mmol / L] were significantly lower than those of the other two groups (P <0.05).② The effective rate of treatment in the 20mg group (97.5%) was significantly higher than that in the 5mg group (87.5%) and the 10mg group(85.0%). Conclusions: Rosuvastatin can treat coronary heart disease complicated with hyperlipidemia in elderly patients. In 169 Japanese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with blood glucose levels that were inadequately controlled with diet and exercise therapy alone, or with diet and exercise therapy plus a sulfonylurea (SU) drug, we evaluated the safety and efficacy of global standard dose metformin given up to a maximum daily dose of 2250 mg for 54 weeks. The changes in HbA1c from baseline to the final evaluation visit were −1.32 ± 0.76% for metformin monotherapy and −1.29 ± 0.81% for metformin plus SU, both significantly lower than baseline. The incidences of adverse events and adverse drug reactions were 91.1% (154/169 patients) and 67.5% (114/169 patients), respectively. The most common adverse events were gastrointestinal symptoms, and most of the gastrointestinal symptoms were considered by investigators to be related to metformin treatment. An increased blood lactic acid level was observed in three subjects (1.8%); however, no clinical symptoms were reported, and there was no increase in mean lactic acid concentration throughout the evaluation period. Symptoms of hypoglycemia were reported in 16 patients, all receiving metformin plus SU, but none received metformin monotherapy. There was a decrease in mean body weight. Global standard dose metformin may be useful for maintaining good blood glucose control over the long term in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in Japanese patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Lactose-based prebiotics are synthesized by enzymatic- or microbial- biotransformation of lactose and have unique functional values. In this comprehensive review article, the biochemical mechanisms of controlling osteoporosis, blood-lipid, and glucose levels by lactose-based prebiotics and symbiosis with probiotics are reported along with the results of clinical investigations. Interaction between lactose-based prebiotics and probiotics reduces osteoporosis by (a) transforming insoluble inorganic salts to soluble and increasing their absorption to gut wall; (b) maintaining and protecting mineral absorption surface in the intestine; (c) increasing the expression of calcium-binding proteins in the gut wall; (d) remodeling osteoclasts and osteoblasts formation; (e) releasing bone modulating factors; and (f) degrading mineral complexing phytic acid. Lactose-based prebiotics with probiotics control lipid level in the bloodstream and tissue by (a) suppressing the expressions of lipogenic- genes and enzymes; (b) oxidizing fatty acids in muscle, liver, and adipose tissue; (c) binding cholesterol with cell membrane of probiotics and subsequent assimilation by probiotics; (d) enzymatic-transformations of bile acids; and (e) converting cholesterol to coprostanol and its defecation. Symbiosis of lactose-based prebiotics with probiotics affect plasma glucose level by (a) increasing the synthesis of gut hormones plasma peptide-YY, glucagon-like peptide-1 and glucagon-like peptide-2 from entero-endocrine L-cells; (b) altering glucose assimilation and metabolism; (c) suppressing systematic inflammation; (d) reducing oxidative stress; and (e) producing amino acids. Clinical investigations show that lactose-based prebiotic galacto-oligosaccharide improves mineral absorption and reduces hyperlipidemia. Another lactose-based prebiotic, lactulose, improves mineral absorption, and reduces hyperlipidemia and hyperglycemia. It is expected that this review article will be of benefit to food technologists and medical practitioners.

OBJECTIVE: To probe into the effects of rosuvastatin on cardiac function and blood lipid level in patients with coronary heart disease. METHODS: 126 patients with coronary heart disease admitted into the First People’s Hospital of Kashi Region from Jan. 2017 to Dec. 2017 were extracted to be divided into observation group and control group via the random number table, with 63 cases in each. The control group was given conventional symptomatic treatment, while the observation group additionally received rosuvastatin based on the control group. After treatment of 2 months, differences of cardiac function [left ventricular end-diastolic volume(LVEDV), left ventricular end-systolic volume (LVESV), left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF)] lipid levels [low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), total cholesterol (TC) and triacylglycerol (TG)] of two groups were compared. RESULTS: After treatment, the levels of LVESV, LVEDV of two groups decreased significantly compared with before treatment, and the levels of LVEF increased significantly compared with before treatment; and the levels of LVESV, LVEDV in observation group were significantly lower than those in control group, and LVEF of observation group was significantly higher than that of control group, with statistically significant differences (P <0. 05). After treatment, the levels of LDL-G, TC and TG in two groups were significantly lower than those before treatment, and HDL-C was significantly higher than that before treatment. The levels of LDL-C, TC and TG in observation group were significantly lower than those in control group, and HDL-C of observation group was significantly higher than that of control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Rosuvastatin can significantly improve the heart function and blood lipid level of patients with coronary heart disease, and help to control the progression of disease. Objective: this paper was aimed to study the separation and purification of yeast glucose tolerance factor (GTF) and its effect on intracorporal glucose conversion of body builders. Methods: Yeast high-yield GTF was adopted in order to improve the detection sensitivity of chromium; in separation and purification process, the method high performance liquid chromatography- inductively coupled plasma- mass spectrometry/ atomic emission spectrometry (HPLC-ICPMS/ AES) was applied in microanalysis of the distribution of GTF; according to the analysis results, appropriate separation technique was selected for batch separation and purification; by comparing the blood indexes of fed mice, intracorporal glucose conversion of body builders could be deduced. Results: Chromium/ protein ratio of Peak 1 was much lower than that of Peak 2; Peak1 was micromolecular chromium-binding protein, while Peak 2 was micromolecular chromium-binding protein. N-terminal amino acid sequence analysis results of peak PP1 showed that amino acids in peak PP1 were probably connected with chromium by coordination bonds instead of peptide bonds. Objective: This study investigated the interaction of dyslipidemia and hyperuricemia on periodontitis in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM)., Methods: The clinical data of 220 patients with T2DM (diabetes group) treated in Tianjin Baodi Hospital from January 2019 to December 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. Another 200 healthy subjects in the same period were selected as the control group. The correlation of hyperuricemia and hyperlipidemia with diabetes was tested by the spearman correlation coefficient. Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the multiplicative interaction and additive interaction of dyslipidemia and hyperuricemia on periodontitis., Results: Diabetes was positively correlated with hyperuricemia and hyperlipidemia ( P <0.05). Patients with dyslipidemia (OR = 8.107, 95% CI: 2.687-24.457) and hyperuricemia (OR = 2.940, 95% CI: 0.970-8.909) had a higher risk of periodontitis, but there was no multiplicative interaction effect of dyslipidemia and hyperuricemia on periodontitis (OR = 1.864, 95% CI: 0.256-13.545, P >0.05). The risk of developing diabetes was higher in individuals with dyslipidemia and hypertension than in those without (OR = 2.887, 95% CI: 1.478-4.855). The evaluation indexes of the combined interaction effect relative excess risk due to interaction, interaction attribution percentage and synergy index were 0.902 (95% CI: 0.379-1.496), 0.273 (95% CI: 0.106-0.458) and 1.485 (95% CI: 0.978-2.165), respectively., Conclusion: Dyslipidemia and hyperuricemia may have a synergistic effect on periodontitis in people with T2DM. Objective To discuss the changes in levels of blood plasma lipid and distribution characteristics of low density lipoprotein ( LDL) subclasses of pregnancy patients with hyperlipidemia.Methods The blood plasma was collect-ed respectively from 60 pregnancy patients with hyperlipidemia ( pregnancy hyperlipidemia group) and 60 healthy pregnant women ( healthy pregnant woman group) .We used the Lipoprotein subclasses analysis system to detect the composition and content of LDL subclasses in the blood plasma.Results The levels of TC, TG and LDL-C in blood plasma were signifi-cantly higher in the pregnancy hyperlipidemia group than those of healthy pregnant woman group, and differences were sta-tistical significance (P<0.01).In 60 pregnancy patients with hyperlipidemia, 61.67% of patients had hypertriglyceri-demia, 18.33% had hypercholesterolemia and 20.00% had mixed hyperlipidemia.Compared with the healthy pregnant woman group, the concentrations of LDL 1 and LDL 2 were significantly lower, the concentrations of LDL 4 and LDL 5 were significantly higher in the pregnancy hyperlipidemia group, and differences were statistically significant ( P<0.01 or P<0.05).Compared with the healthy pregnant woman group, the percentages of LDL 1, LDL 2 and LDL 3 were significantly lower, the percentages of LDL 4 and LDL 5 were significantly higher in the pregnancy hyperlipidemia group, and differ-ences were statistically significant (P<0.01 or P<0.05).Conclusions The proportion of hypertriglyceridemia is higher than others in the pregnancy patients with hyperlipidemia, and the LDL subclasses distribution characteristics in the blood plasma has changed, that is the concentration of relatively large particle decreases and the relatively small particle concen-tration increases. Objective To explore the interaction between abnormal prepregnancy body mass index(pBMI)and high blood lipid level during pregnancy on the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM). Methods A total of 235 patients with GDM and no blood lipid-related diseases before pregnancy were selected from Hangzhou Women's Hospital during March 2017 to July 2018 as the GDM group.At a ratio of 1∶3,a total of 705 individual age-matched pregnant women with normal glucose metabolism during prenatal examination from the same hospital were selected as the control group.The generalized multifactor dimension reduction(GMDR)method was employed to characterize the possible interaction between pBMI-blood lipid and GDM.The cross-validation consistency,equilibrium test accuracy,and P value were calculated to evaluate the interaction of each model. Results GMDR model analysis showed that the second-order model including pBMI and gestational blood lipid level had the best performance( P =0.001),with the cross-validation consistency of 10/10 and the equilibrium test accuracy of 64.48%,suggesting that there was a potential interaction between pBMI and gestational high blood lipid level.After adjustment of confounding factors,the model demonstrated that overweight/obesity patients with high triglyceride(TG) level had the highest risk of developing GDM( OR =14.349,95% CI =6.449-31.924, P <0.001).Stratified analysis showed that overweight/obesity patients under high TG level group had a higher risk of developing GDM than normal weight individuals( OR =2.243,95% CI =1.173-4.290, P =0.015). Conclusions Abnormal pBMI and high blood lipid level during pregnancy are the risk factors of GDM and have an interaction between each other.Overweight/obese pregnant women with high TG levels are more likely to develop GDM.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of art therapy on reoccurring smoking among youths., Methods: A total of 114 smokers admitted to the smoking cessation clinic of our hospital were enrolled and randomly divided into the control group (n=61) and the study group (n=53). The control group was given health education intervention, and the study group was given art therapy intervention. The blood lipid level, symptom checklist score, lung function, and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and serum total cholesterol (TC) levels of different length of smoking were compared between the two groups., Results: The levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), TC, triglycerides (TG), HDL-C were significantly reduced in both groups, but compared with the control group, the LDL-C, TC, TG, and HDL-C levels of the study group were decreased more significantly, and the difference was statistically significant ( P <0.05). The symptom checklist scores were significantly reduced in both groups, but compared with the control group, the study group decreased more significantly, and the difference was statistically significant ( P <0.05). There were significant differences in HDL-C levels among young smokers who had different length of smoking ( P <0.05), and with the continuous increase in smoking years, HDL-C levels were significantly reduced. After intervention, lung function was significantly improved, and the levels of vital capacity (VC%) and forced expiratory volume in the first second (FEV1%) were significantly increased ( P <0.05). After intervention, the smoking reduction rate and the success rate of time-point smoking cessation were significantly reduced ( P <0.05)., Conclusion: Art therapy intervention had an ideal effect on young smokers, which could improve blood lipid levels and lung function, reduce the rate of reoccurring smoking, and significantly increase patients' symptom checklist score., Competing Interests: None., (AJTR Copyright © 2021.)

We examined the main effects of ambient particulate matters, as well as whether single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), located within ABO gene would modify the relationship. Data were collected from a family-based study conducted in Northern China. A generalized additive model with a Gaussian link and with each family as a stratum was applied to estimate the percentage change in blood lipid levels following a 10 μ g / m 3 increase in ambient particulate matter concentrations. Interaction analyses were conducted by including a cross-product term of PM 2.5 or PM 10 by SNP. Results showed that a 10 μ g / m 3 increase in Particulate matter with aerodynamic diameter <2.5 μ m (PM 2.5) concentrations corresponded to the highest 0.010% (95% CI: 0.002%–0.018%), 0.018% (95% CI: 0.006%–0.029%), 0.019% (95% CI: 0.010%–0.029%) increase in total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), respectively and 0.005% (95% CI: 0.002%–0.008%) decrease in high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C)-to-LDL-C ratio. As for the PM 10 , similar results were observed. Furthermore, our finding showed an interaction effect of PM 10 and rs505922/rs579459 C allele on TG. Specifically, individuals carrying the rs505922 and rs579459 T allele have higher TG concentrations following PM 10 exposure, with a 10 μ g / m 3 increase in PM 10 concentrations corresponding to the highest 0.028% and 0.034% increase in TG, respectively. In conclusion, short-term exposures to ambient particulate matters are associated with a higher blood lipid level, which can be modified by ABO polymorphism. The animal model of hyperlipidemia in rats was established to investigate the lipid-lowering effect and mechanism of Danhong Injection on hyperlipidemic rats. SD rats were selected as the research object. The rats in normal group were fed with basic diet, and the rats in other groups were fed with high-fat diet to establish hyperlipidemia model. The successfully modeled rats were randomly divided into model group, Danhong Injection low, medium, high dose(1.0, 2.0, 4.0 mL·kg~(-1)) groups, and simvastatin(2.0 mg·kg~(-1)) group. Danhong Injection groups received intraperitoneal administration, and simvastatin group received intragastrical administration, once a day for 4 weeks. At the first, second, third, and fourth weekends after administration, blood was collected from the orbital vein to detect the levels of total cholesterol(TC), triglyceride(TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C), and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C), and then the atherosclerosis index(AI) was calculated. After 4 weeks of administration, the animals were sacrificed, and their heart, liver, spleen, lung, kidney and adipose tissue were extracted and weighed respectively to calculate the organ index of each group. The expressions of acyl-coaoxidase 1(Acox1), adenosine 5'-monophosphate(AMP)-activated protein kinase alpha(AMPK-α), bile salt export pump(BSEP), peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma(PPAR-γ), catalase(CAT) and superoxide dismutase(SOD) mRNA in liver tissues were detected by fluorescence quantitative PCR; the content of cholesteryl ester transfer protein(CETP) and lecithin cholesterol acyltransferase(LCAT) in serum was detected by ELISA. The results showed that as compared with the normal group, the levels of serum TC, TG and LDL-C in the model group were significantly increased, and the level of HDL-C was significantly decreased, indicating that the hyperlipidemia rat model was successfully constructed. As compared with the model group, Danhong Injection could decrease the contents of TC, TG, LDL-C and increase the content of HDL-C in hyperlipidemia rats; reduce the body weight of hyperlipidemia rats, and reduce the liver weight, liver index, fat weight and fat index; it had no significant effect on the main organ indexes such as heart, spleen, lung and kidney; but it could increase the expressions of Acox1, AMPK-α, BSEP, PPAR-γ, CAT and SOD mRNA in liver tissues of rats; it could also reduce the level of CETP and increase the level of LCAT in serum; and the regulatory effect of Danhong Injection groups all showed a dose-dependent effect. It can be concluded that Danhong Injection can regulate the blood lipid contents, reduce the blood lipid levels and alleviate the accumulation of body fat in rats with hyperlipidemia. The mechanism may be related to inhibiting lipid metabolism disorder and oxidative stress induced by high-fat diet feeding, and improving the imbalance of lipid transport system.

To systematically review the efficacy and safety of Zhibitai Capsules combined with chemical drugs versus chemical drugs alone in regulating blood lipid of patients of coronary heart disease, so as to provide evidence-based reference for clinical treatment. In this study, PubMed, EMbase, Cochrane Library, China Knowledge Network Database(CNKI), Technology Journal Database(VIP) and WanFang Database(WanFang) were retrieved to find the randomized controlled trials(RCT) about therapeutic efficacy of Zhibitai Capsules combined with statins(experimental group)versus statins alone(control group)in the treatment of regulating blood lipid of patients with coronary heart disease. The retrieval time was restricted to be from the inception to October 2019. The data were extracted from the randomized controlled trials. Meta-analysis was conducted by RevMan 5.3 statistical software after quality evaluation by Cochrane 5.1.0 quality evaluation tool(blood lipid level, inflammation indicators, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome score and adverse reactions). A total of 11 RCT were included, involving 1 538 patients. The results of Meta-analysis showed that in terms of decrease of total cholesterol(MD=-0.15,95%CI[-0.25,-0.05],P=0.004), decrease of triglycerides improvement(MD=-0.16,95%CI[-0.23,-0.10],P&lt;0.000 01), decrease of low-density lipoprotein(MD=-0.08,95%CI[-0.15,-0.01],P=0.03), and increase of high-density lipoprotein(MD=0.06,95%CI[0.03,0.10],P=0.000 2), experimental group was better than control group. At the same time, the incidence of adverse reactions were low in the experimental group(OR=0.40,95%CI[0.18,0.85],P=0.02). As a result, in treatment of coronary heart disease, the therapeutic efficacy of Zhibitai Capsules combined with statins is better than statins alone in lowering total cholesterol level, triglyceride level, low-density lipoprotein level, and increasing high-density lipoprotein level. Patients in the experimental group had a low incidence of adverse events, but the heterogeneity was slightly higher, and the result had a poor stability. However, due to the small sample size of studies included, some experimental designs were not perfect, which reduces the recommendation level and evidence intensity of this system evaluation. Therefore, high-quality multi-center, large-sample, randomized, double-blind randomized controlled trials are needed for providing more reliable basis.

The study aims to explore the roles of common polymorphisms of Tumor Necrosis Factor-α (TNF-α) (-238 A/G and -308 A/G) and IL-10 (-819 T/C and -1082 G/A) genes in the risk of non-traumatic osteonecrosis of the femoral head (NONFH). One hundred and forty-seven NONFH patients and 135 healthy individuals were selected as the case and control groups. qRT-PCR and Western blotting techniques detected mRNA as well as protein expressions of TNF-α and IL-10 of each genotype in both the case and control groups. The GA genotype and the A allele of TNF-α -238 A/G were higher in the case group than in the control group. Compared with the control group, AA, GA, and AG + AA genotypes as well as the A allele of IL-10-1082 G/A were all lower in the case group. In the case groups increased levels of TNF-α as well as decreased levels of IL-10 expression when compared with the control group. TNF-α expression of TNF-α-238 GA genotype was significantly higher than that in patients with GG genotype, while the IL-10 expression of GA and AA genotypes of IL-10-1082 was significantly lower than in that of patients with the GG genotype. TNF-α protein expression in the GA genotype was significantly higher than in the GG genotype. In relation to TNF-α -238, TNF-α protein expression of GA and AA genotypes had significantly reduced more so than the GG genotype in IL-10-1082. Background: In many developing countries overweight, obesity and obesity-related morbidity are becoming a problem of increasing importance. Obese individuals are more likely to have elevated total cholesterol, triglycerides, low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and decreased high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol., Objective: To determine the prevalence of obesity using the measure of body mass index (BMI) and abnormal lipid level and the association between obesity and abnormal lipid level among adults in Ogbomoso, Nigeria., Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study of 400 adults aged 18 years and above was carried out at the Baptist Medical Centre, Ogbomoso, Nigeria. Participants were administered a standardized questionnaire and had measurements of weight, height and blood lipids taken., Results: Four hundred subjects were randomly selected (221 females and 179 males) with a mean age of 48.65 ± 16.56 years. The overall prevalence of obesity was 14.75% (8.9% for males and 19.5% for females p<0.05). The female subjects were significantly more sedentary than the males (50.8% for males, 62.4% for females, p<0.05). Most of the subjects who were obese (88.1%) preferred high calorie food. The overall prevalence of abnormal lipid levels was 28.5% (26.8% for males and 29.9% for females). The prevalence of abnormal lipid levels among the subjects who were obese was 40.7%., Conclusion: Obesity in this environment is particularly significant among females and is associated with abnormal lipid level.
