Fruit trees are perennial crops that grow in one place for their whole lives, which leads to the deterioration of the soil as well as a decline in fruit quality and yield. Microbial diversity and community structure are important soil factors affecting stress resistance and the quality of fruit trees. Additionally, biogas fertilizer also plays an important role in improving fruit quality. Whether biogas fertilizer can improve continuous cropping barriers by affecting microbial diversity and community structure remains to be further investigated. Therefore, 7-year-old Fuji apples were used as material, and biogas fertilizer was applied continuously for three years. The results show that the contents of soil organic matter (SOM), available nitrogen (AN), available phosphorus (AP), and soil porosity (SP) increased by 0.712, 0.217, 1.089, and 0.401 after applying biogas fertilizer, respectively. The concentrations of vitamin C, titratable acid, and soluble solids also significantly increased. We also found that the relative abundance of dominant soil flora significantly increased, such as Sphingomonas (g_Sphingomonas), Chlamydomonas (g_Chlamydomonas), and Stachybotry (g_Stachybotry), while the relative abundance of inferior flora significantly decreased, such as Cryptococcus (g_Cryptococcus) and Alternaria (g_Alternaria). In summary, biogas fertilizer can improve the physicochemical properties of the soil as well as the structure and diversity of the microbial communities in rainfed orchards, resulting in higher fruit quality. Two field experiments were conducted in 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 seasons, at Ras Sidr Experimental Station in south SinaiAffiliated to Desert Research Center, Mataria, Cairo Egypt in cooperation with the Department of Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, Benha University, to study the effect of biogas fertilizer and natural extracts on vegetative characteristics and essential oil yield of Stevia rebaudiana L. plant. Results showed that biogas fertilizer along with different natural extracts exerted a significant influence on the growth characteristics and essential oil content of stevia. The highest values in most of the parameters in the first cut were found from T1 (recommended dose of chemical fertilizer) combining with (M4), (M5) or (M2). On the other hand, the second cut took the same line as the first cut but with T3 (50% NPK + biogas slurry at 5000 kg h-1) as (T3×M4) or (T3×M2) as drench addition registered the highest values of parameters mention before in most cases. Conclusively, the use of half (50%) of the recommended dose of chemical fertilizer with the equivalent of the recommended nitrogen content and replaced it with biogas fertilizer led to reducing the problem of the use of chemical fertilizers on the health and economic damages, in addition to the use of both extracts of Azolla and garlic as a drench addition with organic fertilization and half the dose of chemical fertilizer.

Results showed that biogas fertilizer along with the different natural extracts exerted a significant influence on yield, chemical constituents, stevioside and rebaudioside A., of stevia. The highest values in most of the parameters i.e. shoot fresh and dry weights biomass, leaves fresh and dry weights biomass, N, P, K and pigments in the first cut by recommended dose of chemical fertilizer (T1) combining with garlic as drench addition, Yucca extract as a foliar spray or Azolla extract as drench addition (M4, M5 or M2,respectively). On the other hand, the second cut took the same line as the first cut but with 50% NPK + 5000 kg h-1 (T3) as either garlic extract or Azolla extract as drench addition (T3×M4 or T3×M2) as registered the highest values of parameters mention before in most cases. As for the highest values of stevioside and total stevioside content were recorded by 50% NPK + 3000 kg h-1 combining with Azolla aqueous extract as drench addition (T4×M2). Rebaudioside A., registered by combination of the recommended dose of biogas fertilizer and yucca aqueous extract as a foliar spray (T2×M5). Conclusively, the use of half (50%) of the recommended dose of chemical fertilizer with its equivalent of the recommended nitrogen dose and replaced with biogas fertilizer, in addition to the use of both extracts of Azolla and garlic as a drench addition, led to reducing nitrate accumulation as a problem of the use of chemical fertilizers on the human health and economic damages.

Although the effects of biogas residues and slurry returning to farmland are good, they still cannot be used widely in China. In this study, the biogas fertilizer use efficiency, nutrient distribution and influencing factors of fertilizer use efficiency of biogas residues and slurry in 20 biogas projects in Chongming County, Shanghai, China were measured and analyzed. The correlation and a linear regression fit of parts of test indicators were also analyzed. The results show that pig farm biogas residues and slurry mixture are nutrient-rich and can be used as a high-quality organic fertilizer, while its fertilizer use efficiency is unstable because of the differences among area, raw materials, fermentation technology and operation management. Nutrients are not evenly distributed in biogas residues and slurry. Higher levels of organic matters, P and trace elements were detected in biogas residues and higher levels of water-soluble N and K were detected in biogas slurry. The correlations between some test indicators of biogas residues and slurry mixture are significant, especially between total K and conductivity. Linear regression model fitting results of parts of test indicators are satisfactory. Hence, the values of the other test indicators can be estimated by one known indicator which can effectively reduce the determination workload under some limited situations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: In China, renewable resources have attracted rising concerns in the sustainable development of circular agricultural economy because renewable resources are considered as a clean energy source and substitutes for chemical fertilizer in rural areas. However, a comprehensive analysis on renewable resources'' effect on agricultural ecosystem is still absent. To fill the blank, this paper chose two typical planting-soil ecosystems including greenhouse-soil ecosystem and orchard-soil ecosystem to evaluate the amount of nonrenewable energy (NE) saving, ecological benefits and economic benefits by utilizing biogas fertilizer, in comparison to those by using chemical fertilizer. The results show that compared with chemical fertilizer treatment, in the greenhouse-soil ecosystem, the biogas fertilizer treatment can save 82667.18MJ NE per hectare, reduce 6554.12kg carbon dioxide (CO2) emission per hectare, improve soil fertility (soil organic matter, ammonia nitrogen, available phosphorus and available potassium), enhance plant quality (dry matter, solid content, reduced sugar, VC and soluble protein content), increase plant yield and add to 59,232.5Yuan net income per hectare. We also found out that the optimum ratio of irrigation water and biogas fertilizer is water irrigated with 50% biogas slurry, which can lead to best fruit yield and quality in the orchard-soil ecosystem. It is concluded that promotion of biogas fertilizer can help China to realize low-carbon circular development of agriculture. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
