Psychological momentum (PM) and the hot hand are relatedconcepts describing people’s beliefs regarding streaks ofsuperior performance. This study examined the susceptibilityof perceptions of PM to changes in the streakiness ofotherwise equivalent series. Fifty-five male participants (31basketballers and 24 control) completed a ‘hot-cognition’experiment where they rated individual and team momentumand assessed the likelihood of a future shot’s success afterwatching sequences of basketball shots. The experimentalmanipulation of the order of shots strongly affectedparticipants’ ratings of momentum and, less strongly, theprobability they assigned to the future shot (i.e. the hot handeffect). Basketballers showed stronger reactions tomanipulations of order than the controls, which could beattributed to greater investment in the task. The resultsdemonstrate the importance of distinguishing between PMand the hot hand and also provide a valuable extension ofprior work showing such effects into more realistic scenarios.

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of motivational self-talk as one of the psychological strategies. Motivational self-talk is a type of self-talk that appears to improve performance and control arousal level through increased drive and effort and positive motivation in performance. This study tried to investigate the effect of motivational self-talk on performance of simple and complex skills. Using a quasi-experimental method, 42 physical education students (20-25 years old who had passed basketball 1 and 2 units) were selected to participate in this study. Then, they were randomly divided into two equal groups (experimental and control) and completed a 15-minute warm-up and task practice. Firstly, the subjects performed a pre-test (without self-talk) including basketball passing test (AAHPERD, 1996) as simple skill and basketball passing test (AAHPERD, 1984) as complex skill. Then, the participants performed a post-test using self-talk with the above tests. Statistical analysis was performed using independent t test and paired sample t test by SPSS 11.5 at ??0.05. The results showed no significant difference between experimental and control groups in pre-test in the performance of simple (P=0.703) and complex (P=0.512) skills so both group were at the same level of performance. Motivational self-talk improved the simple skill in the experimental group (P=0.001). A significant difference (in favour of experimental group) was observed in the improvement of the simple skill in the post-test of both groups (P=0.004). Also, motivational self-talk improved the performance of complex skill in the experimental group (P=0.001). A significant difference (in favour of experimental group) was observed in the improvement of the complex skill in the post-test of both groups (P=0.048). The mean difference in the simple task (? x =0.94) and in the complex task (? x =0.48) between the two groups showed that the mean difference of simple skill was higher than the complex skill. Generally, the results showed that motivational self-talk improve the performance of both skills while it influenced simple skill more than complex skill.

Resumen El objetivo del presente estudio es analizar la opinión de los entrenadores y expertos sobre la modificación del reglamento en categoría infantil. Para ello se administró el cuestionario de Modificación Reglamentaria de la Competición a un total de 101 entrenadores, y a 14 expertos. Los resultados más significativos señala que: a) el 85.7% de los entrenadores y el 78.6% de los expertos cambiarían alguna regla; b) los entrenadores prohibirían la posibilidad de defender en zona; c) los expertos modificarían la altura de la canasta, disminuirían el tamaño del balón, acercarían la línea de tres puntos, modificarían el sistema de victorias, eliminarían la defensa en zona, y eliminarían el K.O. Todos estos datos, deben servir para realizar una profunda reflexión y futuros estudios, sobre el estado actual del reglamento en la competición infantil, con el objetivo de adaptarlo al joven deportista, y que no sea los niños los que tengan que adaptarse al deporte.AbstractThe aim of this study is to analyze the opinion of the coaches and experts on rule modification in basketball under-14. For this questionnaire was administered to Modify Competition to a total of 101 coaches, and 14 experts. The most significant results indicates that: a) the 85.7% of the coaches and 78.6% of the experts a rule change, b) prohibit coaches the opportunity to defend in zone c) the experts would change the height of the basket, decrease the size of the ball, come close the three point line, victories would change the system, eliminate the zone defense, and eliminate the KO. ResumenEl mentoring es un medio formativo muy valorado en los entrenadores deportivos. Sin embargo, las investigaciones señalan que éste se produce de una manera informal y desestructurada. Por ello, el propósito de la investigación es descubrir si ha existido un proceso de mentoring en entrenadores de élite en baloncesto, y si es así, como se ha desarrollado dicho proceso. Para el desarrollo de la investigación se ha utilizado la metodología cualitativa y la técnica de la entrevista semiestructurada. Los entrevistados han sido dieciséis entrenadores expertos en baloncesto según la literatura específica, entre los que se encuentran Campeones del Mundo, de Europa y de la liga ACB entre otros. Los resultados nos indican como el mentoring es un medio fundamental en la formación de los entrenadores, aunque, como señalan las investigaciones, se produce de una manera informal y desestructurada lo que provoca que muchos entrenadores no puedan optar a este medio de formación y que además se produzca de forma aleatoria y meramente imitativa. También se observa como este mentoring informal es mucho más que una mera transmisión de conocimientos. Por todo ello, es importante destacar que en las primeras etapas del entrenador debe existir la figura de un mentor que familiarice al entrenador novel en la cultura del entrenamiento y del club. Además, los clubes, instituciones y federaciones deberían financiar y programar estos procesos de tutela para optimizar la formación de los futuros entrenadores.Abstract Mentoring is a highly valued means of training among sports coaches, however, the research shows that it takes place on an informal basis and is often unstructured. Therefore, the purpose of the research is to discover whether or not there has been a process of mentoring in elite coaches in basketball, and if so, how this process has developed. The research carried out drew from qualitative methodology and the technique of the semi-structured interview. Interviewees were sixteen expert basketball coaches as defined in specific literature, and included World Champions, European and ACB league coaches, among others. The results indicate the mentoring is an essential method in the training of coaches even though the research shows it is conducted in an informal and unstructured manner which causes many coaches not to choose this method of training; furthermore, it often occurs on a random or merely imitative basis. Informal mentoring is often observed as representing more than a mere transmission of knowledge. Therefore, it is important to emphasize that in the early stages of a coach’s career, there should be a mentor figure to familiarise the future coach with the coaching culture and with the club itself. In addition, clubs, institutions and federations should fund and organise these coaching processes to optimize the education of future coaches.

This article is about analyzing the legal consequences of the departure of Real Madrid's basketball team from ACB's competitions. In order to get that, the report studies the consequences for Real Madrid and ACB of the aforementioned separation, the current regulations of the main basketball competition in Europe (Euroleague), the potential federative penalties for Real Madrid's formative teams and the consequences in connection with employment law.
