Objective: The aim of this study was to describe characteristics and outcomes of assisted reproductive technology (ART) cycles performed in 2019 in Turkey. Material and Methods: One-hundred and sixty-five ART centers in Turkey were invited to submit data. The survey was sent to center directors via e-mail with anonymous links by Qualtrics™. The survey involved questions about their patient characteristics, clinical practices, and outcomes. Results: Forty-one (24.8%) centers responded to e-mails, and data gathered from 25 centers was included in the analyses. In 25 centers, 18,127 fresh or frozen transfers were carried out during the study period, of which 7796 (43.0%) were fresh and the rest were either frozen (45.2%) or embryo transfers (ET) with preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) (11.8%). The live birth rate per ET was as 30.6%, 40.1%, and 50.7% in fresh, frozen and PGT cycles, respectively. A single embryo was transferred in 65.3% of all transfers and singleton live births comprised 86.1% of all deliveries. For cycles with intrauterine insemination, 1407 were started in 2019, and 195 clinical pregnancies, 150 live births with 19 multiple pregnancies occurred. A total of 1513 ART cycles were initiated for foreign patients. Russia (29.6%), Germany (7.4%), Iraq (4.6%), Uzbekistan (3.1%), and Syria (1.4%) were the top five countries with most patients coming to Turkey for ART. Conclusion: The survey results are in parallel with the reports of international institutions and organizations. Couples are increasingly using assisted reproduction technology (ART) to facilitate having children. This raises the question of whether using ART leads to the same health outcomes as spontaneous conception. One of the major health outcome factors concerns the weight of the newborn. Many foreign studies have proved that newborns conceived via ART evince lower birth weights than newborns that were conceived spontaneously. The purpose of this study is to determine whether the risk of low birth weight differs according to the ART method selected (in-vitro fertilisation with fresh embryo transfer, frozen embryo transfer, oocyte receipt), and which of these methods is associated with the lowest risk of a low birth weight. Anonymised individual data on all deliveries that took place in Czechia between 2013 and 2018 was used for the analysis. The dataset was obtained from the National Registry of Reproduction Health (administered by IHIS CR). The binary logistic regression revealed that concerning many of the covariates controlled, women who underwent IVF had a higher risk (30 %) of giving birth to a child with a low birth weight than women who received frozen embryo transfer treatment (CI 1.15-1.48). Women who underwent oocyte receipt treatment were found to have an even higher (52 %, CI 1.17-1.97) risk than women who received frozen embryo transfer. Most studies to date have focused on the analysis of the endometrium at the end of the estrogenic phase, while the available data on its importance after secretory transformation are limited and inconsistent. Current evidence does not allow for a conclusive interpretation of the changes observed in the pre-implantation endometrium, whether in the natural or replacement cycle, and their relevance in the development of a pregnancy or the implications for clinical practice. Methods: Multicenter prospective observational cohort study. Based on our sample size calculation, the study group will consist of 206 women (exposed or “compaction” group: 103 women with a decrease of ≥ 5% in endometrial thickness between the estrogenic phase and the day of embryo transfer; non-exposed “non-compaction” group: 103 women with similar or greater endometrial thickness between these time points). The main objective of this study is to compare the ongoing pregnancy rates in natural cycles for euploid embryo transfer in patients who present endometrial compaction at the time of transfer versus those who with a stable or greater endometrial thickness with respect to the estrogenic phase. The estimated duration of the study is 30 months. Inclusion criteria are: 18 to 50 years of age, with primary or secondary infertility, subjected to endometrial preparation in a modified natural cycle for transfer of a genetically euploid blastocyst, from their own oocyte or oocyte donation, with a normal uterine cavity. Exclusion criteria are: uterine or endometrial disease (e.g., multiple myomatosis, severe adenomyosis, Asherman syndrome, refractory endometrium), conditions that prevent correct ultrasound assessment (tilted uterus), or a history of recurrent implantation failure or repeated miscarriages. Introduction: Although it is well-known that obesity increases the risk of gestational hypertension (GH) in both spontaneous and assisted reproductive technology (ART) pregnancies. Recent data show that, in ART pregnancies, frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET) is associated with an even higher risk of GH compared with fresh transfer. However, the relationship between pre-gravid body mass index (BMI) and GH in FET pregnancies has seldom been reported. Objective: The aim of this study is to examine the effect of pre-gravid BMI on GH in singleton pregnancy following FET. Methods: A retrospective cohort study at a tertiary hospital, including a total of 7,502 women who achieved singleton pregnancy after FET, was included. All patients were enrolled only once. On the basis of the BMI definitions of the Working Group on Obesity in China (WGOC) and the World Health Organization, the women were divided into normal BMI, overweight, and obese groups. The main outcome was GH, and the effect of pre-pregnancy BMI on GH was assessed by generalized linear model. Results: The risk of GH in our study population was 6.15%. According to the BMI definitions of the WGOC, the risk of GH in the obese group (15.55%) was significantly higher than that of the overweight group (8.26%, P < 0.001) and the normal BMI group (4.68%, P < 0.001). Pre-gravid overweight and obesity were associated with higher GH risk (OR, 1.77; 95% CI, 1.41-2.20; P < 0.001; OR, 3.69; 95% CI, 2.77-4.91; P < 0.001). A non-linear relationship between pre-gravid BMI and GH was observed. The risk of GH decreased with pre-gravid BMI level up to the turning point of BMI = 28.6 kg/m2 (OR, 1.16; 95% CI, 1.12-1.21; P < 0.001). Conclusion: Pre-gravid overweight and obesity are associated with higher GH risk among singleton pregnancy following FET. Before the turning point of BMI = 26.8 kg/m2, the risk of GH may increase 16.4% with each one-unit increment of maternal BMI. The global prevalence of insulin resistance (IR) is increasing continuously, influencing metabolic parameters and fertility. The metabolic changes due to IR can alter the molecular composition of plasma and other body fluids. Follicular fluid (FF) is derived mainly from plasma, and it is a critical microenvironment for the developing oocytes. It contains various metabolites and amino acids, and the quality of the oocytes is linked at least partially to amino acid metabolism. Our goal was to quantitatively determine the amino acid (AA) profile of FF in IVF patients and to compare IR and non-insulin resistance (NIR) groups to investigate the AA changes in their FF. Using UHPLC-based methods, we quantified the main 20 amino acids from human FF samples in the IR and NIR groups. Several amino acids (aspartate, glycine, glutamate, and cysteine) differed significantly (p < 0.05 or less) between the two groups. The most significant alterations between the IR and NIR groups were related to the glutathione metabolic pathway involving glycine, serine, and threonine. Since insulin resistance alters the amino acid composition of the FF, the oocytes may undergo metabolism-induced changes resulting in poor oocyte quality and less fertility in the insulin resistance groups. Objective: To explore the characteristics of cancer patients who cryopreserved sperm/testicular tissue samples in the Cryobank of Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin between 2004 and 2019, and the ART utilization rate with associated outcomes. Methods: Retrospective data were available for 506 cancer patients, of which 46 (9.1%) had used their samples for artificial reproductive technologies (ART). Corresponding cycle information was collected from external fertility centers. Results: Our cohort included 53/506 (10.5%) patients aged < 18 years at diagnosis. While adolescents and adults mainly banked sperm, adolescents showed higher rates of testicular tissue cryopreservation before (11.8%, 6/51 vs. 6.4%, 26/406) and after treatment (16.7%, 4/24 vs. 7.8%, 13/167). At study conduction, storage had been ended for 44.8% (269/601) of samples. The majority of samples used for ART were requested within the first 3 years after cryopreservation (71.5%, 28/39, range = 0–12 years). Pregnancy rate was 51.4% (19/37 cycles), resulting in 11 singleton births, 3 twin pairs, and 4 miscarriages. Conclusion: With the new advantage of public health insurance coverage of fertility preservation (FP) in Germany, an increased utilization has already been noticed in our center, emphasizing the necessity of further knowledge for individual counseling. Whether infertility drug exposure increases the risk of borderline ovarian tumors (BOTs) remains controversial. The present study was conducted with a comprehensive search for studies published from January 1990 to December 2021 in the online databases Cochrane Library, PubMed, Web of Science and EMBASE. We considered the first diagnosis of a BOT as the primary outcome. The odds ratio (OR) was calculated with corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for the risk of BOTs in patients who were treated with infertility drugs. Ten studies, a total of 2,779,511 women, qualified for inclusion in this meta-analysis. The pooled OR of 1.56 (95% CI: 1.09–2.22) revealed a significant positive association between infertility drugs and an increased risk for BOTs, but for specific drugs, only CC plus Gn had statistical significance. No publication bias was detected using the Egger and Begg tests (p > 0.05). A significant difference in BOT incidence was observed among infertile women and nulliparous women who were treated with or without infertility drugs. In conclusion, the use of infertility drugs may increase the risk of BOTs, but a dose-dependent relationship was not observed between the number of assisted reproduction technology cycles and the risk of BOTs, and infertile women who successfully became pregnant might have a reduced risk. Background: Although numerous studies have investigated the potential correlation between follicular fluid (FF) steroid concentrations and in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (IVF/ICSI) outcomes, few have accounted for the effect of controlled ovarian hyperstimulation regimes on FF steroid concentrations. Objective: To comprehensively compare follicular steroid concentrations between women stimulated with gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist (GnRHa) and antagonist (GnRHant) protocols and to explore the associations between FF steroid concentrations and IVF/ICSI outcomes. Methods: A total of 295 infertile women undergoing IVF/ICSI from January 2018 to May 2020 were enrolled. Eighty-four and 211 women received GnRHa and GnRHant protocols, respectively. Seventeen steroids in FF were quantified by liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS), and the correlation of follicular steroids with clinical pregnancy was explored. Results: Follicular steroid concentrations were similar between the GnRHa and GnRHant groups. Follicular cortisone levels were adversely associated with clinical pregnancy in fresh embryo transfers. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis revealed an area under the ROC curve (AUC) of 0.639 (95% confidence interval = 0.527–0.751, p = 0.025) for predicting non-pregnancy, with an optimal cutoff value of 15.81 ng/mL (sensitivity = 33.3%, specificity = 94.1%). Women with FF cortisone concentrations ≥15.81 ng/mL were fifty times less likely to achieve clinical pregnancy in fresh embryo transfers than those with FF cortisone levels below this threshold (adjusted OR = 0.019, 95% confidence interval = 0.002–0.207, p = 0.001) after adjusting for age, body mass index, baseline serum progesterone levels, serum levels of luteinizing hormone, estradiol and progesterone on human chorionic gonadotropin day, ovarian stimulation protocols, and the number of transferred embryos. Conclusions: There was no significant difference in intrafollicular steroid levels between GnRHa and GnRHant protocols, and intrafollicular cortisone level ≥15.81 ng/mL was found to be a strong negative predictor of clinical pregnancy in fresh embryo transfers with high specificity.

This article puts the spotlight on the world's largest artificial reproduction technology (ART) industry—that of Japan, seeking to explain the exceptional tardiness of the government there to install a comprehensive legal framework that regulates these practices. By relying on minutes from a conversation with an influential parliamentarian active in this area, as well as official documents, media reports, and an interview conducted with key physicians, the article reconstructs the historical trajectory leading to the enactment in December 2020 of the Assisted Reproduction Technology Act. The author contends that it is only on the background of an overview of what happened in the two decades preceding the promulgation of this Act that a sense can be made of why the latter came to be as scant and evasive as it is in terms of provisions, de facto leaving unaltered the socially and ethically undesirable situation of self-regulation in ART application by the Japanese doctors. This article adds credence to the hypothesis with regard to the issue of regulatory governance of emerging technologies more broadly that the direction of travel is toward soft, as opposed to hard, law. Abstract Background This study aims to study whether the change of endometrial thickness between the day of human chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG) administration and the day of embryo transfer (ET) has any effect on ectopic pregnancy (EP) rate following fresh in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (IVF/ICSI) cycles. Methods This study retrospectively analyzed 3134 patients who underwent fresh IVF/ICSI ET, including 3022 intrauterine, 112 ectopic cycles. Multiple logistic regression analysis and stratified analysis were used to study the effect of endometrial compaction after HCG administration on EP in patients with non-thin endometrium after adjusting for confounding factors. Results After adjusting for confounders, multiple logistic regression analysis found that the risk of EP in the compaction group was significantly lower than that in the non-compaction group (OR = 0.49; 95% CI: 0.31–0.78; P = 0.0023). The results of the stratified analysis demonstrated the EP rate in patients with an endometrial thickness ≥ 8 mm on the day of ET; the compaction group significantly reduced the incidence of EP (OR = 0.49; 95% CI: 0.31–0.79; P = 0.0036). In patients with an endometrial thickness ≥ 8 mm on the day of ET, the incidence of EP had no statistical significance in two group (OR = 1.02; 95% CI: 0.18–5.88; P = 9790). Conclusion(s) In patients with non-thin endometrium, endometrial thickness compaction from the day of HCG to the ET day reduced the risk of EP significantly.

Abstract Background To determine the predictive values of sperm parameters pre- and post-processing by density gradient centrifugation for clinical pregnancy rates (CPRs) following artificial insemination by husband (AIH) in infertile Chinese couples. Methods A total of 3,522 AIH cycles from 1,918 couples were retrospectively analyzed. The parameters were compared between the pregnant and non-pregnant groups and further between different etiological groups (Male-factor, Both-male-and-female-factor, and Other-factor). Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to create models for predicting the CPRs of each etiological group. Results The overall CPR was 13.3%. There were significant improvements for most sperm parameters after DGC. Multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that, in overall AIH cases, the top parameters significantly influencing the CPR of AIH were pre-STR (OR = 1.037; P = 0.048) and post-VSL (OR = 1.036; P = 0.011). In the Male-factor Group, the top influencing parameters were pre-VCL (OR = 2.096; P = 0.008), pre-LIN (OR = 1.930; P = 0.002) and post-VSL (OR = 1.316; P = 0.023). In the Both-factor Group, the top influencing parameters were pre-VCL (OR = 1.451; P = 0.008) and post-motility (OR = 1.218; P = 0.049). In the Other-factor Group, the top influencing parameters were pre-VAP (OR = 1.715; P = 0.024), pre-STR (OR = 1.20; P = 0.011) and post-VSL (OR = 1.04; P = 0.017). Moreover, receiver operating characteristic analysis showed that the logistic regression models of the Male- and Both-factor Groups had greater powers for prognostic classification than those of other groups. Conclusions This study demonstrated that some sperm parameters have a collinearity relationship in predicting the CPR following AIH. Moreover, the predictive capacity of a multivariate logistic regression model is better than those of individual parameters, especially for the Male- and Both-factor Groups. In these cases, pre-VCL is the common top influencing factor.

Abstract Objective To examine the effects and mechanisms of transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS) on pregnancy outcomes in women undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF)-embryo transfer (ET). Design, setting, and participants This efficacy study was a multicenter, randomized, controlled clinical trial (RCT) in women receiving IVF-ET. The mechanistic study was a single-center RCT. Interventions The participants received TEAS vs. no TEAS treatment. Main outcome measures In the efficacy study, the primary outcomes were the rates of clinical pregnancy, embryo implantation, and live birth. In the mechanistic study, sex hormones and endometrial protein expression were examined. Results Ultimately, 739 participants were enrolled (367 and 372 in the TEAS and control groups, respectively). The clinical pregnancy rate was higher in the TEAS group than in the controls (55.1% vs. 46.7%, P = 0.03). There were no significant differences in embryo implantation, biochemical pregnancy, and live birth rates between the two groups (all P > 0.05) in the study population. In women > 35 years, the clinical pregnancy rates, embryo implantation rates and live birth rates in the TEAS and control groups were 48.9% vs. 23.7% (P = 0.004),30.8 vs. 13.9% (P = 0.001) and 34.0% vs. 19.7% (P = 0.06) respectively. In the mechanistic study with 120 participants, on the theoretical embryo implantation day, better developed endometrial pinopodes, elevated endometrial integrin α1β1/αVβ3, leukemia inhibitory factor, and elevated serum progesterone levels were found in the TEAS group compared with controls. Conclusion TEAS significantly improved the clinical pregnancy rate in women undergoing IVF-ET, especially in women of older age. It might be due to improved endometrial receptivity. Background: This study aimed to determine the prevalence of postpartum metabolic syndrome (MetS), glucose intolerance,and the determinants, 6-12 weeks postpartum in women with assisted reproduction technology conceptiongestational diabetes mellitus diagnosis (ART-GDM) compared to women with spontaneous conception and GDMdiagnosis (SC-GDM).Materials and Methods: In this prospective cohort study, two groups consisting of 62 ART-GDM and 64 SC-GDMsingleton pregnant women were followed 6-12 weeks after delivery for postpartum MetS. Fasting glucose, 75-g 2-hOGTT, and lipid profile were assessed. Waist and hip circumference, and systolic and diastolic blood pressures (BP)were measured at postpartum. Clinical, paraclinical, and obstetric data were recorded from registry offices. The prevalenceof MetS and glucose intolerance were determined. Predictors of MetS and glucose intolerance were evaluatedby logistic regression.Results: The prevalence of postpartum MetS was 20.8% in ART-GDM women and 10.9% in SC-GDM (P=0.123).Mean postpartum BMI and systolic BP were significantly higher in the ART-GDM group (P=0.016 and P=0.027respectively). Adverse pregnancy outcomes were significantly higher in the ART-GDM group. Postpartum glucoseintolerance prevalence did not vary significantly between the groups. Family history of diabetes was a predictive factorfor postpartum MetS and glucose intolerance 6-12 weeks after delivery.Conclusion: Early postpartum MetS and glucose intolerance prevalence after assisted conception did not vary significantly;however, postpartum body mass index (BMI) and systolic BP were significantly higher in the ART-GDM group.Lifestyle modification programs and long-term health care of ART women with GDM diagnosis can be recommended.Further studies with larger sample size and longer follow-up are necessary to verify our findings.

Background: To evaluate whether the addition of human menopausal gonadotropin (HMG) during the early follicular phase of controlled ovarian stimulation improves clinical outcomes in patients classified as group 4 on the Patient-Oriented Strategy Encompassing IndividualizeD Oocyte Number (POSEIDON) classification. Methods: A prospective, randomized, and non-blind controlled trial was conducted, involving 172 patients seeking infertility treatment with an indication for in vitro fertilization (IVF) or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). Among them, 78 patients were randomly assigned to the HMG/follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) group, receiving 75 IU of HMG for FSH on either day 2 or day 3 of menstruation, while 94 patients were assigned to the FSH monotherapy group. Results: The total dose of gonadotropin used in the HMG/FSH group (2510.77 ± 368.11) was higher than that in the FSH alone group (2310.98 ± 641.33), indicating greater medication usage (p < 0.001). In terms of the mean number of retrieved oocytes and good quality embryos, the HMG supplementation group demonstrated a slight increasing trend (3.79 and 1.43, respectively) compared to the FSH alone group (3.44 and 1.16, respectively), though these differences did not show statistical significance. There is no significant difference in the outcomes of ongoing pregnancy rates, biochemical pregnancy rates, or clinical pregnancy rates per end-cycle or embryo transfer cycle between the two groups. Conclusion: The addition of HMG to FSH during the early follicular phase for IVF/ICSI did not provide any benefits for patients classified as group 4 on the POSEIDON classification. Postmortem sperm retrieval for reproductive purposes is an assisted reproduction procedure that offers women an opportunity to have a child using sperm retrieved from their deceased partners. The ethical issues of this procedure have been discussed in previous works. However, an assessment of the procedure using a scientific perspective is still lacking. Here, we aim to ascertain, using a biological standpoint, whether postmortem sperm should be rescued for reproductive purposes. Data suggest that it is premature to use postmortem sperm for reproductive purposes. This procedure should not be clinically applied until appropriate and comprehensive analyses have been completed. Such analyses should be focused not only on fertilization, embryo development, and pregnancy outcomes, but also on potential postmortem alterations of sperm DNA, RNAs, and proteins. In addition, genetic and epigenetic analyses of sperm, pre-implantation embryos, and newborns, as well as mental and physical health follow-up of the resulting offspring during a whole life cycle, using appropriate non-human mammalian models, are warranted. Results: After adjusting for confounders, multiple logistic regression analysis found that the risk of EP in the compaction group was significantly lower than that in the non-compaction group (OR = 0.49; 95% CI: 0.31–0.78; P = 0.0023). The results of the stratified analysis demonstrated the EP rate in patients with an endometrial thickness ≥ 8 mm on the day of ET; the compaction group significantly reduced the incidence of EP (OR = 0.49; 95% CI: 0.31–0.79; P = 0.0036). In patients with an endometrial thickness ≥ 8 mm on the day of ET, the incidence of EP had no statistical significance in two group (OR = 1.02; 95% CI: 0.18–5.88; P = 9790). The imaginary of the pro-surrogacy discourse. Self-entrepreneurs' will to power in the global production of life. Gestational surrogacy is an emerging sector of bioeconomy, a reproductive option and a form of female labour which is increasingly accepted worldwide. It entails a deep rationalization of human processes, which are reduced to their mere biological aspects and managed through self- discipline and technology with the goal of producing high quality products (children). In this paper I discuss how the social practice of surrogacy is legitimized through a broader discourse of individual freedom and self- determination, typical of neoliberal capitalism, and how this frame is applied to two categories of “self-entrepreneurs”: people who aspire to become parents and women with gestational capability that once placed on the reproductive market becomes source of economic empowerment. I argue that the pro-surrogacy discourse, which dips into the feminist rhetoric of women's autonomy and a culture of limitless technological manipulation, encourages the human will to power by activating the pleasure principle and the Great Mother archetype.

The global prevalence of insulin resistance (IR) is increasing continuously, influencing metabolic parameters and fertility. The metabolic changes due to IR can alter the molecular composition of plasma and other body fluids. Follicular fluid (FF) is derived mainly from plasma, and it is a critical microenvironment for the developing oocytes. It contains various metabolites and amino acids, and the quality of the oocytes is linked at least partially to amino acid metabolism. Our goal was to quantitatively determine the amino acid (AA) profile of FF in IVF patients and to compare IR and non-insulin resistance (NIR) groups to investigate the AA changes in their FF. Using UHPLC-based methods, we quantified the main 20 amino acids from human FF samples in the IR and NIR groups. Several amino acids (aspartate, glycine, glutamate, and cysteine) differed significantly (p < 0.05 or less) between the two groups. The most significant alterations between the IR and NIR groups were related to the glutathione metabolic pathway involving glycine, serine, and threonine. Since insulin resistance alters the amino acid composition of the FF, the oocytes may undergo metabolism-induced changes resulting in poor oocyte quality and less fertility in the insulin resistance groups.

IntroductionAssisted reproductive technology (ART) is a method that uses various techniques to process sperm or ova. Assisted reproductive technology involves removing ova from a woman's ovaries, combining them with sperm in the laboratory, and returning them to the woman's body or donating them to another woman.MethodsBased on the web of science core collection database, we firstly analyzed the quantity and quality of publications in the field of ART, secondly profiled the publishing groups in terms of country, institution, author's publication and cooperation network, and finally sorted out and summarized the hot topics of research.ResultsIn total, 6,288 articles on ART were published between 2001 and 2022 in 1,013 journals. Most of these published articles represent the global research status, potential hotspots and future research directions. Publications and citations of research on assisted reproductive technology have steadily increased over the past few decades. Academic institutions in Europe and the United States have been leading in assisted reproductive technology research. The countries, institutions, journals, and authors with the most published articles were the United States (1864), Harvard Univ (108), Fertility and Sterility (819), and Stern, Judy E. (64). The most commonly used keywords are Assisted reproductive technology (3303) and in-vitro Fertilization (2139), Ivf (1140), Pregnancy (1140), Women (769), Intracytoplasmic Sperm injection (644), In Fertilization (632), Risk (545), and Outcome (423).ConclusionFrozen embryo transfer, intracytoplasmic sperm injection, and in vitro fertilization are the main research topics and hotspots in the field of assisted reproductive technology.

Background: To determine the predictive values of sperm parameters pre- and post-processing by density gradient centrifugation for clinical pregnancy rates (CPRs) following artificial insemination by husband (AIH) in infertile Chinese couples.Methods: A total of 3,522 AIH cycles from 1,918 couples were retrospectively analyzed. The parameters were compared between the pregnant and non-pregnant groups and further between different etiological groups (Male-factor, Both-male-and-female-factor, and Other-factor). Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to create models for predicting the CPRs of each etiological group.Results: The overall CPR was 13.3%. There were significant improvements for most sperm parameters after DGC. Multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that, in overall AIH cases, the top parameters significantly influencing the CPR of AIH were pre-STR (OR = 1.037; P = 0.048) and post-VSL (OR = 1.036; P = 0.011). In the Male-factor Group, the top influencing parameters were pre-VCL (OR = 2.096; P = 0.008), pre-LIN (OR = 1.930; P = 0.002) and post-VSL (OR = 1.316; P = 0.023). In the Both-factor Group, the top influencing parameters were pre-VCL (OR = 1.451; P = 0.008) and post-motility (OR = 1.218; P = 0.049). In the Other-factor Group, the top influencing parameters were pre-VAP (OR = 1.715; P = 0.024), pre-STR (OR = 1.20; P = 0.011) and post-VSL (OR = 1.04; P = 0.017). Moreover, receiver operating characteristic analysis showed that the logistic regression models of the Male- and Both-factor Groups had greater powers for prognostic classification than those of other groups.Conclusions: This study demonstrated that some sperm parameters have a collinearity relationship in predicting the CPR following AIH. Moreover, the predictive capacity of a multivariate logistic regression model is better than those of individual parameters, especially for the Male- and Both-factor Groups. The role of high-normal thyroid-stimulating hormone levels has been of great concern recently. However, the conclusions of different studies are inconsistent. To assess whether high-normal conditions have an impact on reproductive and obstetric outcomes in euthyroid women undergoing ART treatment, a systematic review and meta-analysis was performed. Eligible studies published up to December 30, 2020, were searched from the PubMed, EMBASE, COCHRANE, and CNKI databases. Quality assessment of the included studies, data extraction, and synthesis were performed separately. RevMan 5.2 was used to carry out the meta-analysis. A total of 23 studies that included 25,143 patients were included. We observed similar clinical pregnancy rates (RR = 1.01, 95% CI: 0.99–1.05), miscarriage rates (RR = 0.95, 95% CI: 0.84–1.08), live birth rates (RR = 1.04, 95% CI: 0.99–1.09), birth weights (SMD = 0.07, 95% CI: −0.02 to 0.16), and gestational ages (SMD = 0.07, 95% CI: −0.02 to 0.16) between the high-normal TSH group and low TSH group. Subgroup analysis showed similar results. High-normal TSH levels were associated with similar clinical pregnancy rates, live birth rates, and miscarriage rates to those of women with low TSH levels. The results suggested that preconceptional TSH levels, regardless of potentially being affected by the controlled ovarian stimulation process, had little impact on reproductive and obstetric outcomes and should not be of great concern. Objective: To examine the effects and mechanisms of transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS) on pregnancy outcomes in women undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF)-embryo transfer (ET). Design, setting, and participants: This efficacy study was a multicenter, randomized, controlled clinical trial (RCT) in women receiving IVF-ET. The mechanistic study was a single-center RCT. Interventions: The participants received TEAS vs. no TEAS treatment. Main outcome measures: In the efficacy study, the primary outcomes were the rates of clinical pregnancy, embryo implantation, and live birth. In the mechanistic study, sex hormones and endometrial protein expression were examined. Results: Ultimately, 739 participants were enrolled (367 and 372 in the TEAS and control groups, respectively). The clinical pregnancy rate was higher in the TEAS group than in the controls (55.1% vs. 46.7%, P = 0.03). There were no significant differences in embryo implantation, biochemical pregnancy, and live birth rates between the two groups (all P > 0.05) in the study population. In women > 35 years, the clinical pregnancy rates, embryo implantation rates and live birth rates in the TEAS and control groups were 48.9% vs. 23.7% (P = 0.004),30.8 vs. 13.9% (P = 0.001) and 34.0% vs. 19.7% (P = 0.06) respectively. In the mechanistic study with 120 participants, on the theoretical embryo implantation day, better developed endometrial pinopodes, elevated endometrial integrin α1β1/αVβ3, leukemia inhibitory factor, and elevated serum progesterone levels were found in the TEAS group compared with controls. Conclusion: TEAS significantly improved the clinical pregnancy rate in women undergoing IVF-ET, especially in women of older age. It might be due to improved endometrial receptivity. This narrative review aims to summarize all the latest studies published between 2015-2021 concerning the management protocols adopted for poor ovarian response (POR) cases. Patients defined as "poor responders" show minimal response to controlled ovarian hyperstimulation, although there is no standard definition for POR. Although infertility specialists are endeavoring to improve cycle outcomes in poor responders by adopting multiple management strategies, still the estimated risk of cycle cancellation is about 20%. All the studies performed during this study period were evaluated and their results were recorded. The latest published protocols to improve oocyte retrieval in poor responders include: anti-Mϋllerian hormone, clomiphene citrate, co-enzyme Q10, corifollitropin, dehydroepiandrosterone, double stimulation, Follicle Stimulation Hormone, Growth Hormone, Gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists, letrozole, human chorionic gonadotropin, Luteinizing Hormone, progesterone and testosterone. Conclusion. Although many strategies have been suggested to manage POR, none has been proven superior to the others. Nanotechnology, the art of engineering structures on a molecular level, offers the opportunity to implement new strategies for the diagnosis and management of pregnancy-related disorders. This review aims to summarize the current state of nanotechnology in obstetrics and cancer in pregnancy, focusing on existing and potential applications, and provides insights on safety and future directions. A systematic and comprehensive literature assessment was performed, querying the following databases: PubMed/Medline, Scopus, and Endbase. The databases were searched from their inception to 22 March 2022. Five independent reviewers screened the items and extracted those which were more pertinent within the scope of this review. Although nanotechnology has been on the bench for many years, most of the studies in obstetrics are preclinical. Ongoing research spans from the development of diagnostic tools, including optimized strategies to selectively confine contrast agents in the maternal bloodstream and approaches to improve diagnostics tests to be used in obstetrics, to the synthesis of innovative delivery nanosystems for therapeutic interventions. Using nanotechnology to achieve spatial and temporal control over the delivery of therapeutic agents (e.g., commonly used drugs, more recently defined formulations, or gene therapy-based approaches) offers significant advantages, including the possibility to target specific cells/tissues of interest (e.g., the maternal bloodstream, uterus wall, or fetal compartment). This characteristic of nanotechnology-driven therapy reduces side effects and the amount of therapeutic agent used. However, nanotoxicology appears to be a significant obstacle to adopting these technologies in clinical therapeutic praxis. Further research is needed in order to improve these techniques, as they have tremendous potential to improve the accuracy of the tests applied in clinical praxis. Background: This study aimed to determine the prevalence of postpartum metabolic syndrome (MetS), glucose intolerance, and the determinants, 6-12 weeks postpartum in women with assisted reproduction technology conception gestational diabetes mellitus diagnosis (ART-GDM) compared to women with spontaneous conception and GDM diagnosis (SC-GDM). Materials and Methods: In this prospective cohort study, two groups consisting of 62 ART-GDM and 64 SC-GDM singleton pregnant women were followed 6-12 weeks after delivery for postpartum MetS. Fasting glucose, 75-g 2-h OGTT, and lipid profile were assessed. Waist and hip circumference, and systolic and diastolic blood pressures (BP) were measured at post- partum. Clinical, paraclinical, and obstetric data were recorded from registry offices. The prevalence of MetS and glucose intolerance were determined. Predictors of MetS and glucose intolerance were evaluated by logistic regression. Results: The prevalence of postpartum MetS was 20.8% in ART-GDM women and 10.9% in SC-GDM (P=0.123). Mean postpartum BMI and systolic BP were significantly higher in the ART-GDM group (P=0.016 and P=0.027 respectively). Adverse pregnancy outcomes were significantly higher in the ART-GDM group. Postpartum glucose intolerance prevalence did not vary significantly between the groups. Family history of diabetes was a predictive factor for postpartum MetS and glucose intolerance 6-12 weeks after delivery. Conclusion: Early postpartum MetS and glucose intolerance prevalence after assisted conception did not vary significantly; however, postpartum body mass index (BMI) and systolic BP were significantly higher in the ART-GDM group. Lifestyle modification programs and long-term health care of ART women with GDM diagnosis can be recommended. Whether infertility drug exposure increases the risk of borderline ovarian tumors (BOTs) remains controversial. The present study was conducted with a comprehensive search for studies published from January 1990 to December 2021 in the online databases Cochrane Library, PubMed, Web of Science and EMBASE. We considered the first diagnosis of a BOT as the primary outcome. The odds ratio (OR) was calculated with corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for the risk of BOTs in patients who were treated with infertility drugs. Ten studies, a total of 2,779,511 women, qualified for inclusion in this meta-analysis. The pooled OR of 1.56 (95% CI: 1.09–2.22) revealed a significant positive association between infertility drugs and an increased risk for BOTs, but for specific drugs, only CC plus Gn had statistical significance. No publication bias was detected using the Egger and Begg tests (p > 0.05). A significant difference in BOT incidence was observed among infertile women and nulliparous women who were treated with or without infertility drugs. In conclusion, the use of infertility drugs may increase the risk of BOTs, but a dose-dependent relationship was not observed between the number of assisted reproduction technology cycles and the risk of BOTs, and infertile women who successfully became pregnant might have a reduced risk. Several studies addressed the association between TAI, thyroid function, and fertility as well as pregnancy outcome after spontaneous or assisted conception. Infertility, miscarriages, and fetal-maternal complications are described in overt autoimmune hypothyroidism. More debatable is the role of mild thyroid dysfunction, mainly subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH), and TAI in the absence of thyroid dysfunction in infertility and reproductive outcome. The evolution of the field of assisted reproduction technology (ART) in the last 40 years has significantly contributed to the management of global infertility. Despite the great numbers of live births that have been achieved through ART, there is still potential for increasing the success rates. As a result, there is a need to create optimum conditions in order to increase ART efficacy. The selection of the best sperm, oocyte, and embryo, as well as the achievement of optimal endometrial receptivity, through the contribution of new diagnostic and treatment methods, based on a personalized proteomic approach, may assist in the attainment of this goal. Proteomics represent a powerful new technological development, which seeks for protein biomarkers in human tissues. These biomarkers may aid to predict the outcome, prevent failure, and monitor in a personalized manner in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles. In this review, we will present data from studies that have been conducted in the search for such biomarkers in order to identify proteins related to good sperm, oocyte, and embryo quality, as well as optimal endometrial receptivity, which may later lead to greater results and the desirable ART outcome. Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is commonly used to treat severe male factor infertility in assisted reproduction. A small percentage of patients face suboptimal fertilisation rate or even fertilisation failure despite having ICSI. Artificial oocyte activation (AOA) has been proposed as a suitable method to overcome their problem. This is a retrospective cohort analysis of ICSI cycles undergoing AOA. Injected metaphase II oocytes were exposed to either calcium ionophore (A23187) after ICSI or injection of calcium chloride during ICSI followed by incubation with A23187 after ICSI. The previous ICSI cycles of the patients formed the historical control group. Thirty-four AOA cycles were analysed. The normal fertilisation rate (52.1%) was significantly improved in the AOA group. The percentage of failed fertilisation cycles (11.8%) were significantly reduced in the AOA group. The cumulative clinical pregnancy rate (47.1%) and live birth rate (29.4%) were significantly increased when compared to the previous cycles. Subgroup analysis revealed that the performance of the A23187 only protocol and the concomitant injection of calcium chloride protocol were comparable in terms of laboratory parameters and pregnancy outcomes. AOA is an effective method to improve the fertilisation rate and pregnancy outcome of infertile couples with previous fertilisation problem after ICSI. What is already known on this subject? A failed and low fertilisation rate after ICSI is not uncommon in assisted reproduction. AOA is normally used to improve fertilisation but there are discrepancies in the efficacy of the treatment. What do the results of this study add? AOA improves the fertilisation rate and pregnancy outcomes of couples with suboptimal fertilisation rate and fertilisation failure in previous ICSI cycles. The efficacies of two AOA protocols were comparable. The A23187 only protocol was recommended because of its simplicity. As the number of overweight and obese women seeking assisted reproductive care increases, interest in understanding the effects of excess weight on fertility is also increasing. Therefore, a systematic review and meta-analysis were performed to evaluate the associations of overweight and obesity with assisted reproductive technology outcomes. The following databases were searched through March 2019: MEDLINE (PubMed), Embase, Scopus, Lilacs, Web of Science, Clinical Trials and SciELO. The keywords used were obesity, overweight and assisted reproduction, as well as similar terms. Articles were selected based on titles and abstracts. Potentially relevant studies were evaluated for inclusion by two reviewers. Subsequently, quality was assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa Quality Assessment Scale. The meta-analysis was performed using a random-effects model. Sensitivity analyses were performed to investigate sources of heterogeneity, as recommended by the Cochrane Collaboration. In total, 53 studies with 1,445,406 treatment cycles were included. When analysing one cycle per patient, being overweight or obese was found to have a weak negative impact on clinical pregnancy, livebirth and miscarriage rates; number of mature oocytes; duration of ovarian stimulation; and gonadotropin dosage used among the exposed women. Therefore, an increased body mass index is associated with weak adverse outcomes among women undergoing in-vitro fertilization or intracytoplasmic sperm injection. This study searched a greater number of research databases and analysed a greater number of studies with good methodological quality and low or moderate heterogeneity, including a greater number of assisted reproduction treatment cycles, than other studies conducted to date. Telemedicine is being applied in assisted reproduction technology (ART) to provide remote consultations, monitoring and support for patients. This study aimed to evaluate the potential advantages of telemedicine in ART treatment in the form of virtual consultations. Studies in which patients were using telemedicine during ART treatment were identified from four scientific databases (PudMed, EMBASE, Scopus, Web of Science). The success of fertility treatments was compared between telemedicine and in-office care, and patient satisfaction with ART through telemedicine was assessed. Eleven studies, comprising 4697 patients, were identified. Quality assessment (Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal and revised Cochrane risk-of-bias tools) revealed an acceptable risk of bias for both randomized controlled trials and observational studies. Using a fixed-effects model, telemedicine was comparable to in-person care regarding the pregnancy rate achieved (odds ratio 1.02, 95% confidence intervals 0.83–1.26, P = 0.83). A Q-test suggested that all the included studies were homogeneous. Patients who received telemedicine during fertility treatment reported a high level of satisfaction (91%, 95% confidence intervals 80–96%). Egger's test confirmed that no publication bias was found. Telemedicine could serve as a complementary tool during fertility treatment to facilitate patients' satisfaction and overcome some practical problems without compromising treatment outcomes. For domestic cats ovaries, recommended cold-storage limit is 24 h in Phosphate Buffered Saline (PBS) or Dulbecco's PBS (DPBS). Here, we attempted to verify wheatear cat ovaries may benefit from more complex solutions during prolonged cold-storage (>24 h). First, the preservation capabilities of extracellular (SP+), intracellular (UW) solutions and DPBS supplemented with glutathione (DPBS+GSH) were compared using ovary fragments from the same ovary (n=10). Intact ovary stored in DPBS served as a control. Ovaries were kept at 4 °C for 48 h, and 72 h. In the second experiment, first ovary was stored in DPBS, second in SP+ or UW solution for 48 h (n = 12). Ovaries pairs stored in DPBS for 24 h served as a control (n=8). Tissue samples were evaluated directly after cold-storage and after following 24 h in vitro culture. Ovarian follicle morphology, apoptosis rates (cleaved caspase-3, TUNEL), and follicular growth activation (Ki-67) were assessed. Ovary fragmentation impaired follicular morphology preservation upon cold-storage comparing to intact ovary. However, ovarian fragments stored in UW for 48 h and in SP+ for 72 h presented better morphology than DPBS+GSH group. Comparison of intact ovaries cold-storage for 48 h showed that SP+ provided superior follicular morphology over DPBS, and it was comparable to the outcome of 24-hour storage. No follicular activation after in vitro culture was observed. Nevertheless, tissue culture increased considerably caspase-3 cleavage and TUNEL detection. The ovary fragmentation prior to cold-storage is not recommended in domestic cats. Replacement of DPBS with SP+ solution for whole ovary and UW solution for ovarian tissue fragments improves follicular structure preservation during 48-hour cold-storage. Assisted human reproduction has undergone rapid advances since its inception 45 years ago. To keep pace with these advances, assisted reproduction laboratories should adhere to a quality management system that addresses staffing and training, physical space and air quality, equipment maintenance and other operational matters, and ensures gamete and embryo handling in accordance with the latest quality and safety standards. Accordingly, this review aims to provide a reference document that highlights the critical aspects to consider when establishing and operating an ART laboratory. The review collates and expands upon published national and international guidelines and consensus documents, providing easier access to this large body of important information. Studies and publications on the outcome of pregnancies obtained after Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) and the fate of children report a slight increase in risks for both mother and child, but almost all of them conclude with question of the reference population. Single pregnancies of ex-infertile women are increasingly viewed as the ideal control group. It is now recognized that spontaneous pregnancies in women with a history of infertility are themselves risky pregnancies for both women and children and should be considered as such by obstetricians. Background Infertility affects different aspects of life including the quality of life (QOL) in infertile couples. Many infertile couples conceive via using assisted reproduction technologies (ART). However, the effect of preg- nancy and childbearing on QOL is not known in these couples. This study aimed to evaluate QOL and general health during pregnancy and after successful treatment of infertility, in women conceived with ART. Materials and Methods In this case-control study, QOL and general heath were evaluated in 40 women conceived with ART and 40 women who conceived spontaneously and served as the control group. WHO quality of life- BREF (WHOQOL-BREF) inventory was used to evaluate QOL and General Health Questionnaire-28 (GHQ-28) was applied to evaluate general health. These two questionnaires were completed in the first and second trimester of pregnancy and results were compared between the two groups. Results Mean age of women was 29.4 ± 4.4 and 29.6 ± 5 years in ART and control group, respectively. QOL in women conceived with ART was similar to QOL in the control group in the first and second trimester of pregnancy while general health score (distress level) in women conceived with ART was significantly higher than that of the control group in both trimesters. Although distress level decreased in the second trimester in ART group, but yet, it was higher than that recorded for the control group. Conclusion After pregnancy, QOL in women conceived with ART is similar to women conceived spontaneously. However, these women experience higher distress level in the first and second trimester of pregnancy compared to women conceived spontaneously.

Background: Only about 30% of conceptions end in live births, yet there are little data on paternal causes of pregnancy loss. Men with inflammatory bowel disease may have multiple disease-related issues that may affect fertility. We aimed to examine pregnancy outcomes in women undergoing assisted reproduction whose male partners had Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis., Methods: This nationwide study included all embryo transfers registered in the Danish Assisted Reproduction Registry from January 2, 2006, to September 3, 2019. The exposed cohort included embryo transfers from couples in which the male partners had Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis. The unexposed cohort included embryo transfers in which male partners did not have inflammatory bowel disease., Results: For fathers with ulcerative colitis, the adjusted odds ratio for a positive biochemical pregnancy (positive human chorionic gonadotropin) was 1.14 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.92-1.42), for a clinical pregnancy (positive vaginal ultrasonography at 7-8 weeks) was 0.91 (95% CI, 0.59-1.40), and for a live birth was 0.99 (95% CI, 0.71-1.60). For fathers with Crohn's disease, the adjusted odds ratio for a biochemical pregnancy was 0.83 (95% CI, 0.63-1.09), for a clinical pregnancy was 0.58 (95% CI, 0.34-0.97), and for a live birth was 0.88 (95% CI, 0.51-1.55)., Conclusions: These findings may indicate that partners of men with Crohn's disease may have an increased risk of early pregnancy loss. Purpose: Despite advances in IVF techniques, determining the prognostic factors influencing cumulative live birth rate (CLBR) remains crucial for optimizing outcomes. Among the various key performance indicators in the lab, blastulation rate, and more specifically Total Blastocyst Usable Rate (TBUR), has gained particular interest. In this study we aimed at determining if TBUR was significantly associated with CLBR., Basic Procedures: This monocentric retrospective case-control study was conducted in 317 consecutive IVF/ICSI cycles in 2014-2020 and leading to the formation of 3 usable blastocysts, including freeze all cycles. TBUR (usable blastocysts / 2PNs) was calculated and CLBR after 2-year follow up was recorded, including both fresh and frozen embyro transfers. CLBR was then compared between 2 groups according to TBUR (group 1: TBUR ≥50 % vs group 2: TBUR ≤30 %)., Main Findings: CLBR was significantly higher in group 1 than in group 2 (57 vs. 41 %, p = 0.02). Adjusted logistic regression showed a statistically significant relationship between CLBR and TBUR, with a significantly lower chance of achieving a live birth in group 2 than in group 1 (OR = 0.408 [0.17-0.96]; p = 0.04)., Principal Conclusions: Although the monocentric design and the arbitrary choice of thresholds for TBUR and number of blastocysts call for caution when generalizing the findings and advocates for external validation, our results illustrate that TBUR is a valuable prognostic factor of CLBR in IVF cycles which might serve as a tool for lab monitoring, cycle analysis by medical staff and patients' counselling. Purpose: Different commercial human embryo culture mediums can alter embryo quality and change birthweight. One component that could be contributing to variations but is not widely investigated is human serum albumin (HSA). HSA plays a multitude of roles during embryo culture and is a carrier for molecules including lipids. It remains unclear if lipid composition of HSA varies among commercial products and its effects on embryo quality, implantation, and fetal outcomes are relatively unknown. Methods: Utilizing a mouse model of embryo culture, we cultured zygotes until the blastocyst stage (72-h culture) in G1/G2 containing either Vitrolife HSA, Sage HSA, or Recombinant HSA at 10%. Blastocyst quality (development, total cell number, superoxide generation), blastocyst lipid content (neutral lipids, non-esterified fatty acids, phospholipids, and triglycerides), implantation, and fetal lengths and weights were assessed. Fatty acid quantification of HSA source was assessed by standard thin-layer chromatography. Results: Sage HSA had the greatest fatty acid composition, with an eightfold increase in saturated fatty acids. This coincided with reduced blastocyst development, increased superoxide generation, neutral lipids and triglycerides levels of blastocysts, and decreased implantation rates (p < 0.05). Unexpectedly, while Recombinant HSA had the lowest overall lipids it had 70-fold increase in palmitoleic acid and the lowest fetal weights (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Indicates the importance of a balance between different types/amount of lipids, and an "optimal ratio" required for embryo and fetal development. Background: To investigate the thyroid function changes during controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) and ascertain its impact on reproductive outcomes. Methods: We conducted meta-analysis in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. A comprehensive literature search was performed to identify studies reported changes in thyroid parameters during COH. We analyzed thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels, free thyroxin (fT4) levels, changes in estrogens (E2), thyroxine-binding globulin (TBG), relative risks (RRs) of clinical pregnancy rate (CPR), live birth rate (LBR), and mean difference (MD) of TSH increment between the miscarriage group and ongoing pregnancy group. Results: This meta-analysis included fifteen individual studies (n = 1665 subjects). At the end of COH, the mean TSH (2.53 mIU/L; 95% CI, 2.19 to 2.88; I2 = 92.9%) exceeded the upper limit (2.5 mIU/L) and remained above the threshold until one month following embryo transfer (ET). Thyroxin decreased from baseline to the end of COH (−0.18 ng/l; 95% CI, −0.35 to 0.00; I2 = 92.2%). The CPR and LBR of patients with TSH exceeding the cutoff after COH were significantly lower than those of patients with TSH below the threshold (CPR: RR, 0.62; 95% CI, 0.47 to 0.82; I2 = 0.0% and LBR: RR, 0.64; 95% CI, 0.44 to 0.92; I2 = 0.0%). The MD of the increment in TSH levels between the miscarriage and ongoing pregnancy groups was 0.40 mIU/L (95% CI, 0.15 to 0.65; I2 = 0.0%). This systematic analysis aimed to summarize the effects of Y chromosome microdeletions (YCMs) on pregnancy outcomes of assisted reproductive technology (ART). This retrospective controlled meta-analysis evaluated the effect of YCMs on pregnancy outcomes of ART. Full-text retrieval was conducted in the PubMed, CBM, Web of Science, CNKI, VIP, and WANFANG databases. The pregnancy outcomes included fertilization rate, good embryo rate, clinical pregnancy rate, early miscarriage rate, miscarriage rate, live birth rate, and baby boy rate. The quality of these studies was evaluated using the Newcastle–Ottawa scale. Statistical software Review Manager 5.3 and STATA 14.0 were used. Twelve high-quality studies were included in the analysis. Compared with that in the normal group, the fertilization rate in the YCMs group decreased significantly (odds ratio [OR] = 0.75, 95% confidence interval [CI] [0.63, 0.88], P = 0.0006). However, there was no significant difference (P > 0.05) between groups in the good embryo rate (OR = 0.88, 95% CI [0.72, 1.07]), clinical pregnancy rate (OR = 0.94, 95% CI [0.78, 1.11]), early miscarriage rate (OR = 1.70, 95% CI [0.93, 3.10]), miscarriage rate (OR = 1.3, 95% CI [0.93, 1.91]), live birth rate (OR = 0.90, 95% CI [0.74, 1.08]), and baby boy rate (OR = 1.15, 95% CI [0.85, 1.56]). YCMs are associated with a reduced fertilization rate of ART, but they do not decrease the good embryo rate, clinical pregnancy rate, early miscarriage rate, miscarriage rate, live birth rate, or baby boy rate. Prevention and treatment of infertility remains a priority for developed countries where a large proportion of women undergo in vitro fertilization (IVF) after ovarian stimulation. Latest data suggest that, in the USA alone, almost eight million women of fertile age will have sought medical advice for fertility problems by 2025. However, over the last years, attention has been increasingly focused, and questions have risen, on the long-term health effects in women who underwent assisted reproductive technologies (ARTs). Since the emergence of ART, reports highlight a possible connection of ovarian stimulation and several types of gynaecological cancer, including ovarian, endometrial and cervical types, but due to limited scientific evidence, such a speculation is still under investigation. The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of maternal hepatitis B virus (HBV) status on pregnancy complications and neonatal outcomes for women undergoing assisted reproductive technology (ART). A total of 7,011 pregnancies achieved by ART were included from a population‐based database involving 523,111 pregnancies. Exposures of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) among pregnant women were routinely tested at the first antenatal visit for all pregnancies. We collected pregnancy complications (e.g., gestational diabetes mellitus [GDM], intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy [ICP]), neonatal outcomes and confounding variables from the same database. Univariate and multivariate analyses by adjusting confounders were conducted to evaluate the impact of maternal HBV infection. Prevalence of HBsAg seropositivity (HBsAg+) was 11.34% (95% CI 10.6–12.1) and that of HBsAg and HBeAg co‐seropositivity (HBsAg+HBeAg+) was 2.55% (2.1–3.0) among included population. Compared with HBsAg−group, ICP risk in the HBsAg+group was higher (4.03% vs. 1.79%; adjusted odds ratio [aOR] 2.49, 1.65−3.77). Similarly, ICP prevalence in the HBsAg+HBeAg+ group was higher than that in the HBsAg−HBeAg− group (6.47% vs. 1.61%; aOR 4.78, 2.28–9.98). No associations were found between maternal HBV infection (i.e., HBsAg+, HBsAg+HBeAg+, or HBsAg+HBeAg−) and other adverse outcomes for women undergoing ART (i.e., GDM, pre‐eclampsia, placental previa, premature separation of placenta, premature rupture of membranes, preterm birth and low birthweight) in this study. In conclusion, maternal HBV infection (HBsAg+or HBsAg+HBeAg+) probably increase ICP risk, but may not associate with other pregnancy complications or neonatal outcomes for pregnant women who underwent ART.
