Background: Postimplantation syndrome (PIS) is a known inflammatory response following endovascular stent placement, yet comparative data between venous and arterial stenting remains limited. This study seeks to evaluate the incidence, characteristics, and clinical implications of PIS across these two distinct vascular territories. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 191 patients who underwent either venous (n = 36) or arterial (n = 155) stent placement. Data collection encompassed demographic profiles, perioperative laboratory findings, and clinical outcomes. The primary endpoint was the incidence of PIS, defined as the presence of fever (≥38 °C), leukocytosis, and elevated C-reactive protein (CRP) within 30 days postprocedure. Secondary outcomes included length of hospital and ICU stay, incidence of endoleaks, reintervention rates, and 30-day mortality. Comparative statistical analyses were conducted to assess differences between the venous and arterial stent groups. Results: PIS was observed more frequently in arterial stent patients, as evidenced by significantly elevated postoperative white blood cell counts at 24 and 48 h (p = 0.046 and p = 0.014, respectively), along with borderline CRP increases (p = 0.052). Fever occurrence peaked at 72 and 96 h postprocedure, predominantly in the arterial cohort. Furthermore, patients with arterial stents had significantly longer hospital stays (5.59 ± 0.46 days vs. 3.42 ± 0.36 days; p = 0.0018) and a higher rate of 30-day endoleaks (7.1% vs. 0%; p = 0.005). Despite similar mortality and major adverse cardiac event (MACE) rates between groups, arterial stent patients exhibited a greater need for reintervention. While PIS was less common among venous stent recipients, its potential impact on postoperative recovery warrants careful monitoring. Conclusions: Arterial stenting is associated with a higher incidence of PIS and a more pronounced systemic inflammatory response, contributing to longer hospitalization and increased postoperative complications. Although venous stent patients experience PIS less frequently, its occurrence should not be overlooked, as it may influence overall recovery and clinical outcomes. Recognition and management of PIS in both venous and arterial stent patients are critical to improving patient care and optimizing procedural success. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: We would like to present an unusual case of simultaneous stenosis of renal graft artery and vein diagnosed four months after transplantation. both treated by stent placement. Our aim is to point at the fact that renal graft venous stenosis is very rarely reported in the literature and – as it is not easy to diagnose by routine US - it could be overlooked. If early detected it can be treated by stent placement. Case presentation: We present a case of 36-old-male with renal failure who received a kidney graft from deceased donor. The patient experienced delayed graft function. No rejection was found in the biopsy. Four months after transplantation the kidney function deteriorated to sCr 280 µmol/l. Graft artery stenosis together with graft vein stenosis was revealed. Both lesions were dilated with stent placement, the graft function returned to 230 µmol/l and became stable for 10 years. Ten years after stent placement graft function deteriorated to 300 µmol/l. An in stent restenosis of arterial stent was detected. It was successfully dilated by the balloon, the graft function returned to 230 µmol/l and stays stable for another 5 years. Conclusions: An unusual simultaneous transplanted kidney artery and vein stenosis treated by stent placement is presented. Local flow patterns influence stent patency, while blood flow quantification in stents is challenging. The aim of this study was to investigate the feasibility of 2-D blood flow quantification using high-frame-rate, contrast-enhanced ultrasound (HFR-CEUS) and particle image velocimetry (PIV), or echoPIV, in patients with aortoiliac stents. HFR-CEUS measurements were performed at 129 locations in 62 patients. Two-dimensional blood flow velocity fields were obtained using echoPIV. Visual inspection was performed by five observers to evaluate feasibility. The contrast-to-background ratio and average vector correlation were calculated and compared between stented and native vessel segments. Flow quantification with echoPIV was feasible in 128 of 129 locations (99%), with optimal quantification in 40 of 129 locations (31%). Partial quantification was achieved in 88 of 129 locations (68%), where one or multiple limiting issues occurred (not related to the stent) including loss of correlation during systole (57/129), short vessel segments (20/129), loss of contrast during diastole (20/129) and shadow regions (20/129). The contrast-to-background ratio and vector correlation were lower downstream in the imaged blood vessel, independent of the location of the stent. Paediatric interventional radiology (PIR) is a rapidly-growing subspecialty, which offers a wide range of procedures applicable to almost all areas of hospital paediatrics. There are many important differences between paediatric and adult practice in interventional radiology, including disease processes and treatment goals, anatomical considerations, periprocedural patient management, radiation exposure optimisation and legal aspects. The use of retrievable or absorbable interventional devices such as stents will probably become more widespread in PIR practice. Recent advances in the technology of imaging equipment have been accompanied by an increase in the complexity of the work done by the radiographer. These developments present challenges and opportunities related to training and maintenance of skills, staffing arrangements, and the potential for advanced practice. AIM: To evaluate the benefit of endovascular peripheral revascularization on glucose control in patients with chronic limb ischemia. METHODS AND RESULTS: Over a 12 month period, 61 patients (41 male, range 49-88 years of age) presenting with critical limb ischemia (CLI) were treated according to the Trans Atlantic Inter Society Consensus (TASC II) guidelines. After discharge, all patients were asked to measure their glucose level three times daily, and glycated hemoglobin was checked monthly up to 12 months, as well as to fill a questionnaire to assess their Quality of Life (QoL). The revascularization procedure was successful in 90% of cases. Glycemic control and glycated hemoglobin in 22 diabetic patients subgroup were significantly improved after the treatment and remained stable over the follow-up period. There was a significant improvement in QoL that increased steadily from the operation and to reach a plateau after six months. CONCLUSIONS: Peripheral percutaneous angioplasty in subjects with CLI significantly improves glycemic control and ameliorates QoL. Endovascular treatment of post-traumatic pseudoaneurysms has become a viable, less invasive option when compared to open repair. Due to the relative youth of this technology, studies have yet to be concluded on the long-term patency of stent grafts in this population. For this reason, concern exists with endovascular stent placement in the young trauma patient. In this study, we present a case and review the literature on a post-traumatic pseudoaneurysm of the posterior tibial artery in a 19-year-old man treated with an endovascular stent. Background: Ureteroarterial fistulae (UAFs) are a rare entity, often difficult to identify, and associated with a high mortality rate. This fact has been attributed to a delay in diagnosis and treatment. Five conditions that can predispose to the development of this uncommon entity have been described: prior pelvic surgery, prolonged ureteral stenting, radiation therapy, previous vascular surgery and vascular pathology. Methods: We present 4 patients with UAFs and at least three of the above-mentioned conditions. Ureteral ischemia and subsequent necrosis promote the formation of these fistulae. The constant pulsation of the iliac artery is transmitted to an already compromised ureter containing a stiff intraluminal foreign body, resulting in pressure necrosis, most likely where the ureter crosses the iliac artery. Results and Conclusion: Cases were managed percutaneously with a combination of the deployment of a covered prosthesis and, when needed, with mechanical occlusion of the ureter. Hematuria stopped in all the patients with no evidence of immediate rebleeding. One patient presented a new episode of vaginal bleeding 13 months after endograft placement and ureteral embolization. Arteriography showed the presence of a hypogastric artery pseudoaneurysm that was occluded using coils. No new bleeding has occurred in this patient 12 months after the second embolization. At present all 4 patients are alive with follow-up periods of 5, 9, 11 and 25 months since the first procedure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
