The evolution of the valence band, charge states of atoms, and optical and vibrational spectra in compounds Ca10−xMx(PO4)xY2, M = Fe, Ni, Cu, Mg; Y = OH, Cl, F was studied by using XPS, infrared, and optical spectroscopy, with the addition of quantum mechanics calculations. The changes in the bandgap in these compounds were analyzed. Isomorphic substitution of calcium ions in the cationic sublattice of calcium hydroxyapatite by metal ions changes the shape of the curve that represents the occupied part of the valence band only slightly. It retains a pronounced gapped character with different lengths of individual subbands—the upper and lower parts of the valence band. It is shown that the predominant position of rare earth and uranium atoms in the apatite structure is the Ca(2)-position. Isomorphic substitution of calcium atoms by metal atoms (Fe, Ni, Cu, Mg) in the apatite structure in the range of 1%–2% of atoms leads to the narrowing of the energy gap. The most significant narrowing is observed when calcium is substituted by nickel and copper. The theoretically calculated bandgap width in calcium apatites can be well described in terms of the generalized gradient approximation. The design of the structure of calcium apatites via the method of isomorphic substitutions in the cation sublattice makes it possible to control the bandgap width, thus expanding the field of practical application of these compounds. The redox condition, a key parameter of mineralization, is one of the most difficult parameters to constrain precisely. Here we employ electron probe and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) to analyse sulphur (S) in apatite grains from five granitoid plutons that are differentially related to gold mineralization in the world-class gold fields of Jiaodong, Xiaoqinling, and Wutai-Hengshan within the North China Craton (NCC) to constrain the redox condition of melt. The results show increasing order of the apatite S content and S6+/ΣS ratios in the Linglong (only spatially close the Jiaodong gold deposits), Sunzhuang (related with the Yixingzhai gold deposits), Huashan (weakly related with the Xiaoqinling gold deposits), Wenyu (closely related with the Xiaoqinling gold deposits) and Guojialing plutons (closely related with the world-class Jiaodong gold deposits), indicating that the oxidation state increased from the Linglong pluton to the Guojialing pluton. The S concentrations of Guojialing, Wenyu, Huashan and Sunzhuang plutons, are estimated using previous methods are, 120–208 ppm, 107–138 ppm, 72–77 ppm and 10–74 ppm, respectively. Combined with the regional differences in gold mineralization in the North China Craton, the gradual increase in mineralization scale is consistent with the trend of increasing oxidation state in the granitoid plutons from Wutai-Hengshan to Xiaoqinling to Jiaodong goldfields, thus also underpinning the contribution of Mesozoic granites to gold mineralization in the North China Craton through providing the thermal energy and medium for the activation and migration of ore-forming fluids. Apatite is an accessory phase in all the units of the internally zoned Berry-Havey complex pegmatite. This body presents a highly fractionated core zone, enriched in Li, F, B, Be, and P, which hosts three different types of pockets, some of them often containing tens to hundreds of gemmy euhedral Li-rich tourmaline crystals, together with other mineral phases such as lepidolite. Processes involved in the complex internal evolution of pegmatitic melts that give rise to zoned bodies containing pockets are not completely understood. To shed light on these processes, apatite from all the different units of the Berry-Havey pegmatite (wall zone, intermediate zone, core margin, and core zone pods) and from the three pocket types (Li-poor, Li-rich, and apatite seams) has been characterized petrographically and later analyzed for major (electronic microprobe) and trace elements (LA-ICP-MS). Results indicate that apatite chemistry changed significantly during the crystallization of the Berry-Havey pegmatite, reflecting the conditions at each stage and mainly depending on the fractionation degree, fO2, and paragenetic association. Fluorapatite is found in all the units except the core margin, the Li-poor pockets, and the seams, where Mn-bearing fluorapatite is present. A gradual increase of the Mn content in apatite from the pegmatite border (wall zone) inward, up to the formation of subrounded masses of Mn-Fe phosphate in the core zone pods, parallels the increasing fractionation of the melt. Phosphate crystallization would deplete the residual melt in Mn, probably causing the significant Mn-decrease observed in apatite from the core zone pods and Li-rich pockets. The late depletion of Mn could also be related to an increase of fO2 in the melt during the later stages of its evolution. Main trace element variations in apatite at both pegmatite and crystal scales correspond to REE, Y, and Sr. Yttrium and REE behave in a very similar way, decreasing inward, i.e., with fractionation of the pegmatitic melt (ΣREE from 1796 ppm in the apatite from the wall zone to 0 ppm in the core zone; and Y from 1503 ppm in the apatite from the wall zone to 0 ppm in the core zone); which could be due to early crystallization of REE-bearing phosphates such as monazite and xenotime. Strontium shows a more complex trend, with an initial depletion in apatite from the wall zone (52 ppm) to the intermediate zone (3 ppm) and a pronounced increase from the core margin (23–87 ppm) up to the core zone and pockets (up to 2.87 wt%). This increase of Sr at the latest fractionation stages of the pegmatite is interpreted to be associated with a late, incompatible character of this element in highly fractionated melts, related to the composition of feldspars from the core margin (mainly pure albite). The lack of Ca in feldspars would decrease affinity for Sr incorporation into their structure and, consequently, Sr would go preferentially to apatite in the core zone pods and, more markedly, in the pockets. Apatite also records changes in the redox conditions during crystallization, with the highest fO2 at the end of the crystallization, mainly reflected in the Eu and Ce anomalies. The chemistry of apatite also reflects the evolution of the pegmatitic melt during crystallization regarding the fluids saturation and pockets generation. Accordingly, at least two exsolution events took place during the Berry-Havey crystallization history: (1) at the beginning of the core zone crystallization, giving rise to the Li-poor pockets, and (2) after the crystallization of the Li-rich pods of the core zone, resulting in the Li-rich pockets. The apatite-rich seams may have crystallized between these two exsolution events or later, at a subsolidus stage, after a Na-autometasomatism episode. This study shows how a detailed petrographic and chemical characterization of apatite associated with different units of a highly fractionated, internally zoned pegmatite may help understand the crystallization history of pegmatitic melts. It is also evidenced that during the internal evolution of pegmatites, apatite chemistry records variations in the fO2, elemental fractionation, interaction with competing mineral phases, fluids activity and exsolution events. The microelemental composition and isotope ratios Pb/U, Pb/Th, and Pb/Pb in apatite were determined by inductively coupled plasma and laser ablation mass spectrometry with on a NexION 300S spectrometer with an NWR 213 laser ablation (LA) attachment; the procedure for processing the experimental data was described. The optimal operation parameters of the mass spectrometer and the LA attachment were determined, also in determining the trace element composition and U/Pb dating from one crater of a size of 50 μm or more. In determining the microelemental composition of apatite, standard synthetic glasses NIST SRM-612, -610 were used; in measuring isotope ratios, reference samples (RS) were used—Durango, Mun Mad, and Mud Tank apatites, analyzed in laboratories in different countries. Using scanning electron microscopy data, the shape of laser ablation craters in RS apatite grains was analyzed; a significant heterogeneity of grains in the matrix and impurity elements was shown. The performance characteristics of the procedures for the measurement period 2021−2023 are presented. The repeatability of measuring the isotope ratios 206Pb/238U and 208Pb/232Th is 0.54 and 0.72, 7.5 and 14.3, 1.5 and 4.4% for Mun Mad, Durango, Mud Tank, respectively. Variations in the REE content of the reference samples (RSD) are 11−24, 5−13, 0.3−7% for Mun Mad, Durango, Mud Tank, respectively. The dating of the RS of apatite, within the limits of uncertainty, corresponds to those obtained in world laboratories. The aim of this study was to prepare and characterize the calcium phosphates modified by different amount of Na+, Cu2+, Zn2+ and CO32−, and to investigate their activity in model solution (at pH = 7.45 and 37 °C) and antibacterial properties against Streptococcus pyogenes. According to XRD and FTIR spectroscopy data the apatite-related phases with partial substitution РО43− → СО32− (B-type) have been prepared. Presence of sodium and carbonate ions led to increase of solubility in model solution during the first 48 h, while modification with both Cu2+ and Zn2+ cations (up to 0.6 wt%) significantly improved antimicrobial properties against Streptococcus pyogenes. Kidney stone disease is a global concern, and its prevalence is increasing. The objective of this review is to provide a thorough analysis of the many analytical techniques used in the study of kidney stones and to investigate the significance of major and trace components in the development of kidney stone formation. The samples included organic (uric acid) and inorganic (calcium oxalate and carbonate apatite). To study kidney stone analysis methods like XRD, FTIR, SEM, and ICP-MS, a systematic literature review was conducted. The quantities and effects of main (calcium, oxalate, phosphate) and trace (magnesium, zinc, copper) elements in kidney stone development were also examined. The review shows that XRD and FTIR are best for evaluating kidney stone crystalline structure and content, whereas SEM gives rich morphological insights. Its trace element detection sensitivity makes ICP-MS unique. Calcium oxalate and calcium phosphate, the most common components, affect kidney stone development. Trace elements like magnesium prevent stone formation, whereas zinc and copper may encourage crystallisation. Results revealed significantly higher calcium levels in inorganic components compared to organic ones. Uric acid stones exhibited lower element content except for copper and selenium, likely originating from the liver. Carbonate apatite stones showed higher element concentrations, particularly magnesium, compared to calcium oxalate stones. Principal component analysis (PCA) identified three principal components, explaining 91.91 % of the variance. These components reflected specific co-precipitation processes of elements, with distinct distributions among different stone types. Calcium phosphate (CaP)-based materials are largely explored in orthopedics, to increase osseointegration of the prostheses and specifically in spine surgery, to permit better fusion. To address these aims, nanostructured biogenic apatite coatings are emerging, since they better mimic the characteristics of the host tissue, thus potentially being better candidates compared to their synthetic counterpart. Here, we compare hydroxyapatite (HA) nanostructured coatings, obtained by ionized jet deposition, starting from synthetic and natural sources. The starting materials and the corresponding films are characterized and compared from a compositional and morphological point of view, then their stability is studied after post-treatment annealing. Although all the films are formed by globular aggregates and show morphological features at different scales (from nano to micro), significant differences are found in composition between the synthetic and naturally derived HA in terms of magnesium and sodium content, carbonate substitution and Ca/P ratio, while differences between the coatings obtained by the different natural HA sources are minor. In addition, the shape of the aggregates is also target-dependent. All coatings have a good stability after over 14 days of immersion in medium, with natural apatite coatings showing a better behavior, as no cracking and detachments are observed during immersion. Based on these results, both synthetic and naturally derived apatitic materials appear promising for applications in spine surgery, with coatings from natural sources possessing physiochemical properties more similar to the mineral phase of the human bone tissue. The geochemical compositions of apatite are commonly used to provide reliable constraints on the intrinsic magmatic variables of the parental magma. There is a widespread distribution of Mesozoic granitic rocks in the eastern Jiangnan Orogen (EJNO), which include I-type and A-type granitoids. This study aims to investigate the geochemical composition of apatite in 11 representative I-type and A-type granitic intrusions from the EJNO to understand their petrogenesis, intrinsic magmatic variables, and polymetallic mineralization potential. The results show that apatites in these granitoids were characterized by oscillatory zonation and homogeneous texture, and exhibited high F, and low Cl contents, as well as high REE, Y, and Th contents, indicating magmatic origin. These apatites were divided into two groups depending on their geochemical characteristics and original rock types. In Group I apatites (in the I-type granitoids), the absence of an abrupt change in major and trace element concentrations from the core to the rim of the apatite crystals, combined with their low levels of MgO, Sr, and HREY (HREE+Y), serves as evidence to classify the I-type granitoids as low Sr-Y adakitic granitoids with a low Mg#, which can be attributed to the partial melting of the thickened lower crust. In Group A apatites (in the A-type granites), the normal increase in incompatible elements from the core to the rim, as well as the presence of a flat REE pattern with pronounced Eu anomalies, can be attributed to crystal fractionation of plagioclase, allanite, and zircon. Furthermore, Group I apatites have higher SO3, Cl, and molar OH/F and Cl/F ratios compared to Group A apatites. Quantitative calculation by apatite-melt partitioning and modelling suggests that the I-type granitic magmas were more volatile-rich and more oxidized than A-type granitic magmas. Taken together, based on the relationship between the intrinsic magmatic variables and the behaviour of ore-forming elements, our study demonstrates that early I-type granitoids of the EJNO have a strong W-Mo-Cu polymetallic mineralization potential, while late A-type granites may possess rare metal mineralization potential. The present study investigates in-vitro biomineralization, mechanical, and tribological properties of bioactive borosilicate glass composed of 31B 2 O 3 –20SiO 2 -(24.5-x)Na 2 O-24.5CaO and xCuO (mol%). Glass was manufactured using conventional melt-quench technique, utilizing chemicals partially derived from bio-waste, with varying copper oxide (CuO) content (x = 0, 1, 3, and 5). In-vitro study was conducted by immersing the specimens in simulated body fluid for 21 days. The formation of apatite layer was confirmed using FTIR, XRD and FESEM-EDS. Vicker's micro hardness tester and a universal testing machine measured hardness and compressive strength, while a pin-on-disc tribometer assessed wear. MTT assay was performed for all the specimens using osteosarcoma MG63 cell line. The study revealed that substituting copper in place of sodium increased the ion dissolution and improved the formation of the apatite layer hence, enhanced the bioactivity, however, accompanied by a gradual decrease in hardness and compressive strength. BSG-0 exhibited the highest hardness (6.64 GPa) and compressive strength (86.81 MPa), while wear resistance weakened with higher CuO content, notably in BSG-5 with the highest specific wear rate (0.072 mm³/N-m) under a 5 N load. Although MTT assay showed non-toxicity for all specimens, except BSG-5, the compounds demonstrated cell tolerance and growth stimulation. In conclusion, the study suggests that CuO-doped borosilicate glasses exhibit superior bioactivity, making them potentially effective for bone filling, wound healing, and dental applications, despite a compromise in mechanical strength and wear resistance. This article presents a Python‐based program, DFT2FEFFIT, to regress theoretical extended X‐ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) spectra calculated from density functional theory structure models against experimental EXAFS spectra. To showcase its application, Ce‐doped fluorapatite [Ca10(PO4)6F2] is revisited as a representative of a material difficult to analyze by conventional multi‐shell least‐squares fitting of EXAFS spectra. Bioresponsive ceramics, a new concept in ceramic biomaterials, respond to biological molecules or environments, as exemplified by salts composed of calcium ions and phosphate esters (SCPEs). SCPEs have been shown to form apatite in simulated body fluid (SBF) containing alkaline phosphatase (ALP). Thus, surface modification with SCPEs is expected to improve the apatite-forming ability of a material. In this study, we modified the surface of α-tricalcium phosphate (α-TCP) using methyl, butyl, or dodecyl phosphate to form SCPEs and investigated their apatite formation in SBF and SBF containing ALP. Although apatite did not form on the surface of the unmodified α-TCP in SBF, apatite formation was observed following surface modification with methyl or butyl phosphate. When ALP was present in SBF, apatite formation was especially remarkable on α-TCP modified with butyl phosphate. These SCPEs accelerated apatite formation by releasing calcium ions through dissolution and supplying inorganic phosphate ions, with the latter process only occurring in SBF containing ALP. Notably, no apatite formation occurred on α-TCP modified with dodecyl phosphate, likely because of the low solubility of the resulting calcium dodecyl phosphate/calcium phosphate composites. Detrital U-bearing minerals (e.g., zircon, apatite) U-Pb ages with specific trace-element geochemistry, are frequently used in provenance analyses. In this study, we focus on the Yarlung River drainage in South Tibet, characterized by two distinct lithologic units: The Gangdese batholith to the north (mainly granitoids) and the Tethyan Himalaya (mainly sedimentary rocks) to the south, which plays a crucial role in the erosion of the Tibetan Plateau. To constrain the provenance of the Yarlung River Basin, we performed trace-element and U-Pb age analyses of detrital apatite from the river sands of the Yarlung River and its tributaries. Our findings indicate that the detrital apatite U-Pb age patterns of the north tributaries exhibit main peaks at approximately 40 and 60 Ma, consistent with the corresponding U-Pb age patterns of detrital zircon published. Further, their trace element casts fall mainly in the Type I granite region, also indicating the Gangdese arc-dominated source. However, those of the south tributaries (∼60–20 Ma) exhibit a different age distribution from the detrital zircon U-Pb groups (∼110–150, ∼500, and 1 100 Ma), suggesting that the detailed apatite U-Pb signals can provide excellent constraints on the provenance of igneous and metamorphic rock sources but less so for sedimentary rock sources. Combined with previous detrital zircon data in the study area, our detrital apatite information can highlight young metamorphic events from a complex background (i.e., Niyang and Nianchu rivers), which offers additional constraints on the provenance of the Yarlung River Basin. The Wutonggou iron deposit is located in the well-known iron metallogenic belt in the eastern Tianshan, NW China, and has been regarded as a sedimentary iron deposit. Although hydrothermal overprinting could play indispensable roles in the formation of high-grade iron ores in sedimentary iron deposits, previous studies mainly focused on sedimentary-related iron mineralization, while the nature and contribution of hydrothermal fluids are poorly constrained. Accordingly, an integrated study of ore geology, H-O-C isotopes and 40Ar-39Ar dating, is conducted on the Wutonggou deposit, in order to reveal the features, source, and timing of hydrothermal mineralization. The studied deposit includes two mining sections namely the Jianshan and Wutonggou. The δ18O values of early magnetite from the Jianshan section range from +3.0‰ to +5.8‰ that nearly consistent with classic magmatic magnetite, while increase to 6.3‰–8.0‰ in the late stage. Quartz from the two sections shows comparable H-O isotopic compositions and identical fractionation trends, and is plotted in or periphery to the primary magmatic water area. Calcites from the two sections are broadly similar in carbon and oxygen isotopic compositions, and siderite from the Wutonggou section is plotted in the same region. Thus, comparable stable isotopic compositions and evolution trends indicate similar magmatic fluids contributed hydrothermal iron mineralization in the two mining sections. Moreover, water-rock interactions of varying degrees generated distinct mineralization styles in the Jianshan and Wutonggou sections, and caused the isotopic fractionation in late stages. Biotite extracted from a hydrothermal siderite ore yielded a 40Ar-39Ar plateau age of 299.5 ± 2.0 Ma, indicates the timing of hydrothermal iron mineralization is corresponding to the emplacement of vicinity granitoids. Taken together, the hydrothermal mineralization in the Wutonggou iron deposit was the product of remobilization and upgrading of early sedimentary iron ores, and ore-forming fluids were most probably originated from regional granitic magmatism. In this study, a trisodium citrate (TSC)-assisted hydrothermal method is utilized to prepare three-dimensional hydroxyapatite (3D HA). Understanding the role of TSC in the preparation of 3D HA crystals may provide valuable methods to design advanced biomaterials. As one of the indexes of solution supersaturation, the initial pH (ipH) value can not only directly affect the nucleation rate, but also affect the growth of HA crystals. In this work, the effect of the ipH on the microstructure, particle size distribution, and specific surface area of the 3D HA is explored. Results showed that the morphology of 3D HA transformed from a bundle to a dumbbell ball and then a dumbbell with an increase in the ipH. A corresponding mechanism of such a structural evolution was proposed, providing inspiration for the fabrication of innovative 3D HA structures with enhanced biological functionality and performance. Given that particle and bubble size, as well as their surface properties, are pivotal in froth flotation, surfactants have been extensively employed due to their impact on bubble size and froth stabilization. This study aimed to investigate the influence of surfactants on the performance of apatite flotation in column. Three different categories of surfactants were examined: anionic, amphoteric, and nonionic, specifically Lupromin, Genagen, and Triton X-100, respectively. The critical coalescence concentration (CCC) and surface tension of each surfactant were determined. The impact of these surfactants on reducing bubble size was quantified, and their subsequent effects on apatite flotation in a column were assessed. The most favorable flotation response for Genagen was achieved at CCC and pH 11, resulting in the highest apatite recovery and the smallest bubble size. For Triton X-100, the best condition was attained at ¼ CCC and pH 11. However, overall, Lupromin was the surfactant that yielded the best flotation results (at ¼ CCC and pH 11). High‐temperature–low‐pressure metamorphism is commonly associated with intermediate to felsic magmatism in continental orogenic belts. The heat budgets and transfer mechanisms responsible for such elevated temperatures and partial melting of the upper crust are uncertain. The Trois Seigneurs massif, French Pyrenees, preserves a structurally continuous record of Variscan high‐temperature–low‐pressure metamorphism through a sequence of upper‐to‐mid‐crustal Paleozoic metasedimentary rocks. Conventional thermobarometry and phase equilibria calculations show that metamorphic conditions span ~2.5 kbar, 575°C to suprasolidus conditions of ~6 kbar, 700°C. Peak temperatures depend strongly on depth: temperature gradients of 50–60°C/km are present through the uppermost 12 km of the section; deeper portions (12–20 km) define restricted temperature conditions of ~650–700°C. The lowest‐grade metamorphic rocks preserve the largest spread in monazite 206Pb*/238U dates, from c. 325–285 Ma, while the spread in dates is restricted to c. 305–290 Ma in the highest‐grade rocks. Within this spread, each sample yields a well‐defined population of monazite 206Pb*/238U dates with peaks at c. 305 Ma in the andalusite schists, 295 Ma in the sillimanite schists, and 300 Ma in the migmatite sample. Monazite trace‐element compositions capture a systematic change with decreasing date and increasing metamorphic grade, including a more negative Eu‐anomaly and decreasing Sr concentrations, consistent with co‐crystallizing feldspar; increasing HREE and Y contents, consistent with xenotime breakdown; and decreasing Th/U, reflecting increasing U content during breakdown of inherited zircon. Zircon rims from a granite unit that formed via partial melting of the Paleozoic sedimentary package yields a 206Pb/238U‐207Pb/235U concordia age of 304.1 ± 3.73 Ma. These rims have trace‐element compositions reflecting cogenetic apatite and zircon growth during granite formation. Zircon from a calc‐alkaline granodiorite intrusion preserves a 40 Ma record of melt‐related activity in the lower crust that preceded the regional thermal climax. We interpret these petrochronological data to show that the Trois Seigneurs field gradient including andalusite schist and biotite granite samples represents a genuine geotherm through Variscan orogenic crust during the regional thermal climax at 305 Ma. When combined with constraints from other Pyrenean massifs, the form of the geotherm is consistent with a thermal scenario in which heat is advected to the upper crust by intermediate‐composition magmas generated in the lower crust. A simple thermal model for this process indicates that anatexis in the upper crust may plausibly occur within 10 Ma of the initiation of the lower‐crustal melting. Such a thermal scenario, however, requires focusing of melt through a fertile lower crust and an elevated Moho heat flux. We suggest that this process may have controlled the attainment of high‐temperature–low‐pressure metamorphic conditions along the Variscan belt and may currently be operating in zones of post‐orogenic continental extension. Apatite is present as an accessory phase in many meteorites and is often formed as a secondary product of aqueous alteration. Its propensity to incorporate rare earth elements (REE) results in apatite usually being the main REE‐bearing phase in hydrously altered meteorites. Asteroid Ryugu is thought to have experienced pervasive aqueous alteration and material collected from the surface of Ryugu is expected to provide insight into asteroidal aqueous alteration processes without influence by terrestrial weathering. Morphologies and mineral associations of apatite grains from five rock fragments collected from the asteroid Ryugu by the Hayabusa2 spacecraft were examined and their REE concentrations were measured by synchrotron X‐ray fluorescence (SXRF) spectroscopy. The main minerals associated with apatite are dolomite, magnetite, and pyrrhotite. Grain boundary corrosion of the interfaces between apatite assemblages and the surrounding matrix suggest that paragenetic formation on the asteroid was followed by a later episode of hydrous alteration. Light REE (LREE) concentration levels recorded at 20–150 times those of bulk CI levels together with a steady increase from LREE toward enrichment of medium REE (MREE, up to Er) at 50–400 times bulk CI levels may suggest postgenetic removal of LREE from Ryugu apatite grains by late‐stage circulation of a hydrothermal fluid. Recent reports of room-temperature, ambient pressure superconductivity in copper-substituted lead phosphate apatite, commonly referred to as LK99, have prompted numerous theoretical and experimental studies into its properties. As the electron–phonon interaction is a common mechanism for superconductivity, the electron–phonon coupling strength is an important quantity to compute for LK99. In this work, we compare the electron–phonon coupling strength among the proposed compositions of LK99. The results of our study are in alignment with the conclusion that LK99 is a candidate for low-temperature, not room-temperature, superconductivity if electron–phonon interaction is to serve as the mechanism. The Ririwai anorogenic alkaline complex harbours extensive rare metal (Nb-Zr-Sn-Zn) mineralization. However, uncertainty still surrounds their origin and magmatic-hydrothermal processes responsible for their rare metal mineralization. The complex is composed of peralkaline arfvedsonite ± albite-bearing granites, mildly peralkaline fayalite-bearing granite porphyries, and weakly peraluminous biotite-bearing granites, all of which show diagnostic A1-type characteristics. Zircon U-Pb dating reveals emplacement ages between 181.4 ± 0.81 and 188.6 ± 7 Ma for the three rock units. Sm-Nd and Pb isotopes (εNd (t) = –0.6 to −5.4, 206Pb/204Pb = 17.68–17.93) constrained the Ririwai A-type granites to represent highly fractionated products of enriched mantle-derived magmas. Mass-balance modelling suggests that magma evolution was fuelled by extensive fractional crystallization of 50 ~ 60 vol.% K-feldspar, 30 ~ 35 vol% fayalite, 5 ~ 10 vol.% amphibole, and ~ 5 vol.% apatite under reduced and water-undersaturated (ΔFMQ = –1.55; logfo2 = –18.63; H2O = <2.0 wt.%) conditions and assimilation of ~ 50 vol.% crust. Whole rock and amphibole compositions revealed an increasing degree of fractionation from the fayalite-bearing granite porphyries through biotite-bearing granites to the arfvedsonite ± albite-bearing granites. This extended fractionation at the late stage of magma differentiation, facilitated by fluorine dissolution and concentration of excess HFSE and REE as alkali-fluorocomplexes in the fluorine-rich silicate melt, allowed the accumulation of economic rare metal pyrochlore and columbite mineralizations in the highly fractionated arfvedsonite± albite- and biotite-bearing granites, respectively. Nonetheless, the metasomatic reaction rim textures around the magmatic pyrochlore, coupled with the M-type lanthanide tetrad effect (TE1,3 >1.10) indicate the subsequent effect of hydrothermal processes. Tectonically, reactivated shear fractures and transcurrent faults following lithospheric stresses in a transtensional regime allowed magma uprising and emplacement of A-type granites in the Ririwai complex. This work reports on the properties of natural bovine hydroxyapatite (HAp) scaffolds calcined at temperatures of 600 and 1000 °C and on the effects of apatite formation on these calcined scaffolds during immersion experiments in Hank's Balanced Salt Solution (HBSS) from 0 to 28 days. The study systematically identifies different mechanisms that determine the formation of the apatite layer. First, compositional analysis of the scaffolds by inductively couple plasma (ICP) reveals significant differences in macromineral content, which includes calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and sodium. Subsequent X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis reveals the presence of hydroxyapatite in both scaffolds, while the 1000 °C sample has additional β-whitlockite due to the higher calcination temperature. Further investigation by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Raman analyzes revealed carbonated HAp in the 600 °C scaffolds and characteristic bands of HAp in the 1000 °C scaffolds. Morphological changes during immersion, documented by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) images, display leaf-like and cauliflower-like structures in the 600 °C sample and rash-like features leading to leaf-type apatite formation in the 1000 °C sample. High-Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HR-TEM) showed elongated crystals in both samples, confirming exclusive HAp presence in the 600 °C sample and the coexistence of HAp and β-whitlockite phases in the 1000 °C sample. After 28 days of immersion, TEM images at 600 °C reveal ordered apatite particles, while the 1000 °C images exhibit random apatite formation, confirmed by Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy in TEM (EDS-TEM). In addition, both scaffolds calcined at 600 and 1000 °C showed biocompatibility, as cytotoxicity tests confirmed a remarkable 100 % cell viability, underlining their non-toxicity. Apatite major and trace element chemistry is a widely used tracer of mineralization as it sensitively records the characteristics of the magmatic-hydrothermal system at the time of its crystallization. Previous studies have proposed useful indicators and binary discrimination diagrams to distinguish between apatites from mineralized and unmineralized rocks; however, their efficiency has been found to be somewhat limited in other systems and larger-scale data sets. This work applied a machine learning (ML) method to classify the chemical compositions of apatites from both fertile and barren rocks, aiming to help determine the mineralization potential of an unknown system. Approximately 13 328 apatite compositional analyses were compiled and labeled from 241 locations in 27 countries worldwide, and three apatite geochemical data sets were established for XGBoost ML model training. The classification results suggest that the developed models (accuracy: 0.851–0.992; F1 score: 0.839–0.993) are much more accurate and efficient than conventional methods (accuracy: 0.242–0.553). Feature importance analysis of the models demonstrates that Cl, F, S, V, Sr/Y, V/Y, Eu*, (La/Yb)N, and La/Sm are important variables in apatite that discriminate fertile and barren host rocks and indicates that V/Y and Cl/F ratios and the S content, in particular, are crucial parameters to discriminating metal enrichment and mineralization potential. Various materials like MTA, Biodentine etc have been used for the regeneration of lost dental tissues. Still, the quest for newer materials to enhance the bioactivity of the existing materials continues. Hence this study aims at the evaluation of bioactivity of MTA Plus when conjugated with Chitosan in phosphate buffer saline. Materials used were MTA Plus (Group 1), MTA Plus and chitosan conjugate(Group 2). The materials were mixed and placed in phosphate buffer saline. Bioactivity of Group 1 and Group 2 materials were assessed at 7 days and 28 day's time intervals using SEM-EDX analysis. SEM analysis of group 1 revealed a compact and agglomerate lath-like appearance with uniform particle size. SEM analysis of group 2 reveals acicular and lath-like appearance of the precipitate on the material surface. EDX analysis of the freshly prepared materials gave the qualitative semiquantitative elemental composition on the material surfaces after immersion in PBS for 7 and 28 days. MTA Plus Chitosan conjugate had greater potential to form apatite crystals on its surface. A peculiar type of stratabound tungsten mineralization in metacarbonate rocks was discovered and explored at Mallnock (Austria) during the late 1980s. It is the only tungsten occurrence in the Eastern Alps in which scheelite is associated with wolframite (96 mol% ferberite). The tungsten prospect is located in the Austroalpine Drauzug-Gurktal Nappe System recording polyphase low-grade regional metamorphism. Raman spectroscopy of carbonaceous material yield maximum metamorphic temperatures of 296 ± 27 °C and 258 ± 27 °C, which are assigned to Variscan and Eoalpine metamorphism, respectively. Scheelite and ferberite occur as polyphase stockwork-like mineralization in Fe-rich magnesite in the northern ore zone (Mallnock North), whereas in the western ore zone (Mallnock West), scheelite-quartz veinlets are exclusively hosted in dolomitic marbles. LA-ICP-MS analyses of scheelite and ferberite yield low contents of Mo, Nb, Ta, and rare earth elements, but high contents of Na and Sr. Uranium is particularly high in scheelite (up to 200 µg/g) and makes this mineral a suitable target for U–Pb dating. In situ U–Pb dating of scheelite yielded an early Permian age (294 ± 8 Ma) for Mallnock West and a Middle Triassic age (239 ± 3 Ma) for Mallnock North. A monzodioritic dike close to Mallnock yielded a U–Pb apatite date of 282 ± 9 Ma and supports the polyphase formation of this mineralization. The U–Pb scheelite ages indicate that a model for tungsten metallogeny in the Eastern Alps must also consider remobilization of tungsten by metamorphic fluids. In the Alps, the Permian to Triassic period (ca. 290–225 Ma) is characterized by an overall extensional geodynamic setting related to the breakup of Pangea. Lithospheric thinning caused higher heat flow, low-P metamorphism, and anatexis in the lower crust, which led to enhanced crustal fluid flow in the upper crust. These processes were not only responsible for the formation of metasomatic hydrothermal magnesite and siderite deposits in the Eastern Alps but also for this unique magnesite-ferberite-scheelite mineralization at Mallnock. Taking Anning Phosphate Mine in Yunnan Province as the research object, this study focuses on the low P2O5 grade (20.00%), high MgO content, complex ore composition, useful minerals such as apatite, and main gangue minerals such as dolomite, quartz, and other silicate minerals. Taking advantage of the characteristic that different numbers of unsaturated bonds contained in mixed unsaturated fatty acids, which have higher solubility than single unsaturated fatty acids, can improve the hydrophobicity of dolomite, a compound mixed fatty acid reagent (ZP) was prepared by compounding oleic acid, linoleic acid, and linolenic acid at a ratio of 50% + 30% + 20%, and this reagent was used as collectors for reverse flotation of the phosphate ore. The influence of collectors on the wettability of dolomite and the effect of compound agent ZP on the particle size of collector micelles were studied. Based on single-factor experimental research, both open-circuit and closed-circuit tests were conducted. The results show that: the composite agent ZP had a better hydrophobicity effect on dolomite than that of single oleic acid reagent. When the dosage of ZP was 200 mg/L, the contact angle of dolomite could reach 74.62°. ZP collector has a higher solubility than oleic acid, which can improve flotation efficiency; By using a process of one coarse selection, three fine selections, and three sweep selections for reverse flotation, a closed-circuit test can ultimately obtain concentrate indicators with a P2O5 yield of 59. 23%, P2O5 grade of 28.36%, MgO grade of 0.63%, and P2O5 recovery rate of 80.16%. Cenozoic uplift in the Tianshan played an important role in driving Proto‐Paratethys Sea retreat and Asian aridification. However, most paleoclimate studies have focused on the Pamir‐Tianshan corridor, and frequently overlook the role of the entire Tianshan range in modifying the Central Asian climate during Cenozoic uplift. When and how Cenozoic deformation of Tianshan was initiated and propagated are intensively debated which makes its role in contributing to climate change in Central Asia more ambiguous. To address this issue, this study presents new detrital zircon U‐Pb and detrital apatite U‐Pb and fission track age data from Cenozoic sedimentary successions (54–0 Ma) in the northern margin of the Tarim Basin and integrates these data with published provenance data from adjacent regions. Our results show that deformation/uplift of the Baicheng‐Kuqa Depression and the South Tianshan occurred at ∼41–37 Ma and ∼24 Ma, when topographic growth of South Tianshan began to block the flow of sediment from the north. Continued uplift of the South Tianshan completely blocked fluvial transport from the Central Tianshan‐Yili Block by ∼10 Ma, as shown by the paucity of 380–310 Ma detrital zircons/apatites. Far‐field, north‐directed compressive stress resulting from the India‐Asia collision began to propagate toward the South Tianshan and its foreland during the Late Eocene, and continued to propagate into the South Tianshan and northward at the ∼24 Ma and 10 Ma. Finally, we suggest a two‐stage of aridification in the Tarim Basin which can be linked to two stages (∼24 and 10 Ma) of growth of the Tianshan. Plain Language Summary: The Tarim Basin and the Taklimakan Desert are located in Central Asia, between the Tibetan Plateau to the south and the Tianshan orogenic belt to the north. This region is a crucial area for exploring the primary drivers of Cenozoic desertification. We performed a systematic zircon and apatite provenance study (including detrital apatite and zircon U‐Pb dating, and detrital apatite fission track analysis) in Cenozoic strata from the northern margin of the Tarim Basin. Our results reveal pulsed deformation of the South Tianshan that initiated at ∼41–37 Ma with two subsequent pulses at ∼24 Ma and ∼10 Ma, the timing of which suggests a close link to the two‐step aridification (∼24 and 10 Ma) of the Tarim Basin. We suggest that the pulsed Cenozoic rise and growth of the South Tianshan played a crucial role in blocking westerly winds, restricting moisture from reaching the Tarim Basin, and driving Cenozoic aridification of the Tarim Basin. The Colatina Fracture Zone (CFZ) defines a distinct NNW–SSE‐oriented linear zone of fractures and brittle faults that represents an inherited weak zone in the current crustal structure of the (Pre)Cambrian Araçuaí Orogen. In the Early Cretaceous, the CFZ was reactivated during rifting of West Gondwana and subsequent opening of the South Atlantic Ocean, as evidenced by the emplacement of dykes along its structural network and the development of major depocentres of the Campos Basin in the offshore segments of the CFZ. Previous thermochronological studies have demonstrated that the CFZ was also rejuvenated during the drift phase of the South Atlantic. However, a number of questions regarding differential surface uplift and basement exhumation between the CFZ and its surrounding areas, such as the Doce River Valley (DRV), are still unresolved. In this study, we aim to investigate the CFZ as a distinctive structure in the tectonic rejuvenation of the passive margin of south‐east Brazil. Samples from the CFZ and the DRV were collected for apatite fission‐track (AFT) analyses. In the DRV, samples yield AFT central ages from 87 to 97 Ma with mean track lengths (MTL) from 12.6 to 13.3 μm. In contrast, in the CFZ, AFT central ages from 70 to 83 Ma with MTL values from 13.2 and 13.4 μm are obtained. The correlation between AFT age and elevation suggests that the tectonic development of these regions was markedly different and uncoupled. The thermal history models from the AFT data further constrain this differential evolution. On the one hand, thermal history modelling for the DRV indicates a slower and protracted cooling since the incipient Atlantic rifting in the Early Cretaceous. On the other hand, the models for CFZ reveal a rapid cooling phase between the Late Cretaceous to the Palaeocene. In the DRV, the observed basement cooling was most probably triggered by erosion of the uplifted rift shoulder generated by Gondwana break‐up. The more recent, Late Cretaceous–Palaeocene rock cooling, localized in the CFZ, was synchronous with a major phase of the Andean orogeny. This suggests that reactivations and erosional exhumation of the CFZ basement could be a consequence of far‐field propagation of intraplate compressional stress. The higher susceptibility of the CFZ to reactivating over its surroundings shows that structural inheritance is a key factor in the differential tectonic evolution of passive margins. Further research on the Late Cretaceous–Palaeocene reactivation in the CFZ's offshore extension may be crucial for the exploitation of hydrocarbons in the Campos and Espírito Santos basins. Natural-based materials represent green choices for biomedical applications. In this study, resin pulp capping restoration enclosing strengthening silica and bioactive portlandite nanofillers were prepared from industrial wastes. Silica nanoparticles were isolated from rice husk by heat treatment, followed by dissolution/precipitation treatment. Portlandite nanoparticles were prepared by calcination of carbonated lime waste followed by ultrasonic treatment. Both were characterized using x-ray diffraction, energy dispersive x-ray, and transmission electron microscopy. For preparing pulp capping restoration, silica (after silanization) and/or portlandite nanoparticles were mixed with 40/60 weight ratio of bisphenol A-glycidyl methacrylate and triethylene glycol dimethacrylate. Groups A, B, and C enclosing 50 wt.% silica, 25 wt.% silica + 25 wt.% portlandite, and 50 wt.% portlandite, respectively, were prepared. All groups underwent microhardness, compressive strength, calcium release, pH, and apatite forming ability inspection in comparison to mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) positive control. In comparison to MTA, all experimental groups showed significantly higher compressive strength, group B showed comparable microhardness, and group C showed significantly higher calcium release. Groups B and C showed prominent hydroxyapatite formation. Thus, the preparation of economic, silica-fortified, bioactive pulp capping material from under-utilized agricultural residues (rice husk) and zero-value industrial waste (carbonated lime from sugar industry) could be achieved. Two magmatic REE-rich occurrences, located near Jamestown, Colorado, and hosted in the Precambrian Longs Peak granite batholith, exhibit unusual textures that suggest formation by fluoride-silicate melt immiscibility. Both contain small (<2 mm diameter) globular F-, P-, and REE-rich segregations of fluorite and monazite-(Ce). In addition, the northern of the two localities preserves evidence of a second melt immiscibility event in the form of larger (up to several cm diameter) aplite-hosted globular segregations of fluorite and the REE minerals allanite-(Ce), monazite-(Ce), fluorbritholite-(Ce), törnebohmite-(Ce), and cerite-(Ce). The southern of the two localities lacks these cm-scale globular textures, but instead contains much larger aggregates of these same REE minerals, with up to >57 wt. % ΣREE2O3, yet no fluorite, as well as large aggregates of allanite-(Ce) and quartz, and an amphibole-bearing REE-rich rock containing allanite-(Ce), other REE minerals, quartz and minor apatite. A new Nd-Sm laser ablation age of 1.422(24) Ga on monazite-(Ce) and allanite-(Ce) from the southern locality implies the same age of formation of 1.420(25) Ga as for the northern locality, with equally similar initial εNd1.42Ga values of these REE minerals. A newly discovered third locality, containing primarily allanite-(Ce), minor monazite-(Ce), and thorite, without fluorite, extends the number, spatial distribution and total volume of these mineralogically unusual magmatic REE occurrences. We suggest that the REE were concentrated in these three localities by multiple stages of fluoride-silicate melt immiscibility. For the southern locality, slower cooling of a possibly larger magma volume, or in a deeper environment, allowed greater aggregation of the immiscibly separated REE-rich phases, as well as loss of the volatile element F, resulting in a greater availability of Ca accommodated by the crystallization of amphibole and minor apatite. Post-orogenic magmatism is uncommon in the Songpan-Ganze Orogen (SGO), and could provide deep insights into geodynamic evolution and related metallogenesis. Here we present zircon U-Pb-Hf isotopes and whole-rock geochemical data, for post-orogenic granitoids newly identified in the southern SGO. The Longxigou and Yangfanggou granites yield crystallization age of ca. 165 Ma and εHf(t) values of +3.8 to −9.1. This age post-dates regional ca. 220–200 Ma orogenic magmatism and ca. 205–190 Ma peak metamorphism, and corresponds to ca. 200–150 Ma post-orogenic magmatism which is exemplified by neighbouring and coeval Wenjiaping and Wulaxi felsic plutons. They are crosscut by ca. 133 Ma granitic pegmatites, with εHf(t) values of −4.3 to −14.2. These post-orogenic granites show high SiO2 contents, as well as low Mg# values, (Zr + Nb + Ce + Y) concentrations and zircon saturation temperatures. They have continental crust-like REE patterns and trace element profiles, and exhibit negative Eu anomalies, enrichment in large ion lithophile elements and depletion in high field strength elements. Their mineral assemblages lack typical high-temperature (e.g. pyroxene and fayalite) and peraluminous (e.g. garnet and cordierite) varieties. All these features indicate an I-type granite affinity, and a dominant derivation from thickened lower crust. In comparison, these post-orogenic granites are compositionally distinct from regional late-orogenic (>200 Ma) categories, which have more positive εHf(t) values and higher Mg# values, with subduction-related signatures involving significant mantle components. Further, several high-grade stratiform Cu deposits and a tungsten deposit occur to the south of these granitic plutons, and have mineralization ages of 164–151 Ma together with biotite alteration age of ca. 134 Ma. Hence, ca. 165–133 Ma magmatic-hydrothermal system was most likely responsible for Cu-W mineralization and effective upgrading of metal deposits in the southern SGO. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Doping of Hydroxyapatite (HA) with foreign ions is known as a chemical approach to improve its physicochemical characteristics and expand its biomedical applications. In the current paper, Pt-doped HA (Pt-HA) was synthesized by the co-precipitation method, and the product was characterized using conventional techniques. The XRD analysis results show that the as-synthesized Pt-HA powder exhibits apatite characteristics with lower degrees of crystallinity compared to pure hydroxyapatite, and no new phase or impurity is found. The SEM observations suggest the plate-shaped particles with homogeneous surfaces in which doping of hydroxyapatite with Pt ions led to a decrease in the length of HA particles. The EDS analysis highlighted the purity of the samples and confirmed the presence of Ca, P, O, and Pt elements in the Pt-HA sample. FTIR spectroscopy revealed the presence of the various vibrational modes corresponding to PO43−, OH− and CO32− functional groups. The mean particle size measurement of the as-prepared HA and Pt-HA samples, using the dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) analysis confirmed a decrease in particle size in the Pt-doped HA sample compared to pure HA. To address the limitations of current dating methods, it is crucial to not only enhance existing techniques like U–Pb zircon dating but also explore alternative tools. This study focuses on three common mineral phases—zircon, apatite, and titanite—in an I-type granite. The goal is to assess their reliability as dating tools and propose improved methods for dating granitic rocks. In the case study of the Mt Stirling pluton within the Mt Buller igneous suite in Southeastern Australia, significant variability in laser ablation U–Pb zircon ages (around 100 million years) was observed. To improve the reliability of zircon age data and reduce non-magmatic-related variabilities, a data filtering protocol is applied. This protocol involves several steps such as trimming zircons with excessive K and Ca, excluding zircons with unusual core–rim age relationships, removing zircons with excessive non-formula elements (Al, Fe, and Mn), identifying hydrothermally altered zircons, and applying a 10% discordance threshold. The filtered Concordia Age (406 ± 1 Ma; mean square weighted deviation (MSWD) = 0.7, n = 80) of the host rock exhibits improved precision and reduced error compared to the unfiltered data (399 ± 2 Ma; MSWD = 9.3, n = 240). The filtered individual dates show less scatter and a mean that is different (i.e. outside statistical uncertainty), noting that their total still spans a considerable time range of ~50 million years, exceeding the individual zircon analytical reproducibility of 2 standard errors (~15 million years of 2 SE). Caution is advised when using the proposed error for the pooled analyses as a definitive precision. Similarly, trace element filtering approaches were applied to apatite and titanite samples from Mt Stirling, two phases that arguably cannot be inherited. For apatite, monitoring Ca and P as well as Zr/Y and Th/U ratios, along with identifying age groupings based on Sr concentrations, was effective in eliminating outliers and enhancing dating precision. In the case of titanite, monitoring Ca and Ti, Sr/Zr and Sr/Th ratios, and Sr/Ca and Zr/Ti ratios successfully enhanced dating precision. Notably, apatite and titanite grains were grouped in distinct Sr concentrations (high-, mid-, and low-Sr), with these groups corresponding to different date groups: high-Sr apatite and high- and low-Sr titanite returned c. 403 Ma, while low-Sr apatite and mid-Sr titanite returned c. 420 and 393 Ma, respectively. The spuriously younger or older dates may indicate an open system and influences from various common-Pb sources. The 403 Ma date coincides with the filtered zircon data, placing further confidence in the coupled approach, and is interpreted here as the igneous intrusion age. Notable is that this age is 25 Myr older than previously reported K–Ar age data, thus far considered to be the age of the intrusion. This study underscores the potential for erroneous zircon dates due to cryptic chemical influences. To enhance the reliability of age interpretation using laser ablation analyses, employing a petrochronological approach using split-stream combined age and trace element data is recommended in addition to the combination of multiple geochronometers. In the case of Mt Buller, it has proven crucial to carefully verify chemical closure of all applied geochronometers by monitoring concomitant trace element concentrations. Applied to other intrusions, petrochronology can play a critical role in obtaining reliable age information, even for igneous rocks that appear pristine. With this, we emphasise the importance of a careful approach towards individual age data interpretation, which can be produced fast and in abundance with modern analytical approaches. Upper Cretaceous–Miocene alkaline SiO2-undersaturated volcanic rocks in the southern Central European Volcanic Province (CEVP) comprise two distinct rock series: (i) Upper Cretaceous–Eocene (~73–47 Ma) olivine nephelinites, basanitic nephelinites, and nepheline basanites have moderate to high MgO (8–16 wt. %), CaO, Ni, Co, Cr, Nb, and Ba, coupled with low F and SiO2 concentrations. These rocks contain abundant clinopyroxene and variable amounts of olivine macrocrysts as well as nepheline, K-dominated F-poor mica, and hydroxyapatite. Evolved and less common apatite-rich (phonolitic) haüynites/noseanites and haüyne nephelinites (~68–62 Ma) represent differentiated counterparts within this older group, showing higher alkali, Al2O3, P2O5, Nb, Zn, REE, and SO3 concentrations at low MgO (4–6 wt. %), CaO, Ni, Co, and Cr contents. (ii) Oligocene–Miocene (~27–9 Ma) olivine melilitites and melilite-bearing olivine nephelinites are characterized by even higher MgO (10–22 wt. %), CaO, Ni, Co, Cr, Nb, Ba, and high F contents at lower SiO2 concentrations, as reflected by the presence of abundant olivine macrocrysts, melilite, perovskite, Cr-rich spinel, F- and Ba-rich mica, and fluorapatite in addition to clinopyroxene and nepheline. Distinct mineral assemblages, crystallization trends, and various xenocrysts indicate different melt sources, a varying extent of enrichment, retention, and loss of volatiles (including timing of H2O and CO2 saturation), and limited wall rock interaction for the two rock groups. Partly resorbed, Fo-depleted olivine cores in the younger rocks and green-core pyroxenes in the older ones suggest early magma mixing. The nephelinitic–basanitic magmas derived from up to 6% partial melting of amphibole-bearing garnet/spinel lherzolite at or just above the lithosphere–asthenosphere boundary. This source was metasomatized involving hydrous melts or fluids. On the other hand, the melilite-bearing rocks probably originated in the upper asthenosphere by less than 3.5% partial melting of amphibole ± phlogopite-bearing garnet wehrlite, previously generated by subduction-related metasomatism with high CaO/MgO and CO2/(CO2 + H2O) ratios. Infiltration and storage of the metasomatic agents occurred in the former lower lithosphere, following continuous recycling of oceanic crust, comprising the release of Ca, CO2, H2O, further volatiles, and incompatible elements. Both volcanic episodes coincide with topographic uplift, erosion, rifting, and reactivation of lithosphere-scale faults, probably related to phases of strong mechanical coupling between Alpine orogen and European foreland. The first period overlapped with an era of prolonged N-directed intraplate compressional stress due to the Adriatic-Eurasian collision, provoking large-scale deformation, isostatic compensation, erosion, and consequent lithosphere thinning in the future CEVP. The second period is associated with the Oligocene–Miocene main stage of the European Cenozoic Rift System. Onset of volcanism was accompanied by a change in deformation in the Upper Rhine Graben from (W)NW extension to (E)NE extension and transtension by a complex interplay of evasive movements responding to shortening in Alps and Jura. Magma compositions, barely magmatic graben structures, volcanic activity outside rifts, and extensive exhumation suggest that in response to rifting, passive asthenospheric doming also contributed to magmatism by causing strong lithosphere–asthenosphere interaction and providing heat. The genesis and primary compositions of carbonatite melts are enigmatic owing to their reactivity and resulting contamination in the mantle and crust. This overprints earlier uncontaminated compositions and obscures their origins. The subvolcanic Badou carbonatite in the North China Craton is characterized by brecciated textures and comprises pristine clinopyroxene, mica, and apatite phenocrysts in a mixed, carbonate–silicate matrix. Here, we provide mineralogical, textural, and major and trace elemental results to reveal the mantle derivation of the Badou carbonatite melt, and its compositional modification during interaction with crustal materials. Clinopyroxene and apatite phenocrysts have initial Sr isotopes (0.70920–0.71037) similar to brecciated calcite (0.71028–0.71159) and the whole rock (0.70953–0.71061), indicating a common source. Rare Mg-rich clinopyroxene and mica contain high Cr and Ni contents, recording direct mantle derivation without immiscibility from silicate melts. Abundant feldspars and aegirine, occurring as both phenocrysts and fine-grained matrix, formed an antiskarn at relatively low temperatures indicating extensive silica contamination upon crustal emplacement. Silica contamination is further indicated by britholite-rich apatite rims and relict quartz cores in clinopyroxene. Zircon xenocrysts were partly assimilated, indicated by Zr and Hf enrichment in late-stage silicates, and partly underwent decomposition to baddeleyite in a decreasing silica activity environment. The assimilation process consumed the carbonate melt, forming refractory silicate minerals and CO2 vapor, leading to near-surface gas overpressure with a decrease in magma viscosity. This elevates the potential for explosive activity, which, in turn, provides a positive feedback mechanism for silica assimilation. The complex evolution of the carbonatite melt in the crust might be responsible for the compositional gap between the natural rocks and experimental outcomes, and results in different eruption styles. The Tepsi ultrabasic body is located in the northeastern Fennoscandian Shield close to the junction of the Serpentinite Belt–Tulppio Belt (SB–TB) with suites of the Lapland–Belomorian Belt (LBB) of Paleoproterozoic age. The body is a deformed laccolith that has tectonic contacts with Archean rocks. Its primary textures and magmatic parageneses are widely preserved. Fine-grained olivine varies continuously from Fo90.5 to Fo65.4. The whole-rock variations in MgO, Fe2O3, SiO2, and other geochemical data are also indicative of a significant extent of differentiation. Compositional variations were examined in the grains of calcic and Mg-Fe amphiboles, clinochlore, micas, plagioclase, members of the chromite–magnetite series, ilmenite, apatite, pentlandite, and a number of other minor mineral species. Low-sulfide disseminated Ni-Cu-Co mineralization occurred sporadically, with the presence of species enriched in As or Bi, submicrometric grains rich in Pt and Ir, or diffuse zones in pentlandite enriched in (Pd + Bi). We recognize two series: the pentlandite series (up to 2.5–3 wt.% Co) and the cobaltpentlandite series (~1 to ~8 apfu Co). The latter accompanied serpentinization. The two series display differences in their substitutions: Ni ↔ Fe and Co → (Ni + Fe), respectively. Relative enrichments in H2O, Cl, and F, observed in grains of apatite (plus high contents of Cl in hibbingite or parahibbingite), point to the abundance of volatiles accumulated during differentiation. We provide the first documentation of scheelite grains in ultrabasic rocks, found in evolved olivine-rich rocks (Fo77–72). We also describe unusual occurrences of hypermagnesian clinopyroxene associated with tremolite and serpentine. Abundant clusters of crystallites of diopside display a microspinifex texture. They likely predated serpentinization and formed owning to rapid crystallization in a differentiated portion of a supercooled oxidized melt or, less likely, fluid, after bulk crystallization of the olivine. We infer that the laccolithic Tepsi body crystallized rapidly, in a shallow setting, and could thus not form megacycles in a layered series or produce a well-organized structure. Reconstructing the uplift process of the eastern Qiangtang terrane is crucial for understanding the growth model of the central Tibetan Plateau. However, due to the limited amount of data available, it is not well constrained. The Tanggula granitoid pluton is an outstanding geological feature in the eastern Qiangtang terrane, and thus could provide crucial constraints on its uplift history. We applied multiple thermochronologic systems over a broad temperature range, including apatite U-Pb, biotite and K-feldspar 40Ar/39Ar, apatite and zircon fission-track, and zircon (U-Th)/He, to study samples from the Tanggula granitoid pluton. The results exhibit the expected relative age order of these thermochronologic systems, with 242-238 Ma apatite U-Pb ages, 218-204 Ma biotite 40Ar/39Ar ages, 197-191 Ma K-feldspar 40Ar/39Ar ages, 94-81 Ma zircon fission-track ages, 70-58 Ma zircon (U-Th)/He ages, and 61-39 Ma apatite fission-track ages. Using these thermochronologic ages and thermal history modeling results, we reconstructed a comprehensive thermal history for the pluton, from which three rapid cooling phases were revealed. The earliest rapid cooling phase (220-180 Ma; ~5.25 °C/m.y.) closely followed the emplacement of the Tanggula granitoid pluton, and thus is primarily an expression of natural cooling triggered by conduction with the surrounding rocks. In contrast, the rapid cooling during 100-60 Ma and since 20 Ma can be interpreted to represent intense exhumation, with corresponding exhumation of 5.0-6.0 km and 2.3-2.8 km, as well as an average exhumation rate of 0.125-0.150 mm/yr and 0.115-0.140 mm/yr, respectively. According to the thermal history, the earliest uplift in the Tanggula region could have been initiated as early as the Late Cretaceous. Using the published data, we determined that the onset of rapid uplift and exhumation in the entire eastern Qiangtang terrane had a northeastward, stepwise propagation process. The region within or around Anduo first experienced rapid uplift and exhumation that initiated during the late Early Cretaceous (ca. 130 Ma), the Tanggula region to the northeast experienced rapid uplift and exhumation that initiated during the Late Cretaceous (ca. 100 Ma), and the region farther to the northeast in Tuotuohe and Yushu-Nangqian experienced rapid uplift and exhumation that initiated in the late Paleocene (ca. 60 Ma). The northeastward stepwise uplift and exhumation in the eastern Qiangtang terrane was likely caused by the combined Lhasa-Qiangtang and India-Asia continental collisions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

High-silica granites are significant carriers of highly incompatible elements and are closely associated with mineralization of the rare metal beryllium. Thus, understanding their origin and evolution is of paramount importance for comprehending the evolution of the continental crust and enrichment processes of beryllium. This study presents zircon U-Pb ages, whole-rock major and trace element compositions, and Nd-Hf-O isotopic data for Early Cretaceous high-silica granite porphyries, monazite U-Pb ages and Nd isotopic data for beryllium-rich quartz veins, and whole-rock and apatite Nd isotopic data for Permian tuffs in the Dongshanwan WMo-Be deposit in the southern Great Xing'an Range, northeastern China. Our aim is to elucidate the link between mineralization and magmatism and to further our insight into the processes of crystal-melt separation and the mechanisms driving beryllium enrichment in granitic magmatic systems. Zircon U-Pb dating of the high-silica granite porphyry yields a weighted mean 206Pb/238U age of 141 ± 1 Ma, which is consistent with the age of hydrothermal monazite (ca. 140 Ma) from the beryllium-rich quartz veins. Hydrothermal monazite from the intra-granite porphyry quartz vein has positive eNd(t) values (+0.76 to +1.63) that overlap broadly with whole-rock Nd isotopic compositions of the host granite porphyry [eNd(t) = + 1.24 to +1.61]. These characteristics indicate that the Dongshanwan beryllium mineralization was temporally and genetically associated with magmatic-hydrothermal activity of the Dongshanwan high-silica granite porphyries. Our systematic studies suggest that both the Dongshanwan high-silica granite porphyries and coeval Be-barren high-silica granites in the study area are high-K calc-alkaline I-type granites. They originated from a shared magmatic system and formed by the partial melting of a predominantly juvenile medium- to high-K basaltic crustal source, with a minor addition of old crustal components. Rayleigh fractionation modeling indicates that the granitic magma underwent a two-stage crystal-melt separation process. During the first stage, the fractional crystallization of a large proportion of plagioclase, in which beryllium is compatible, not only effectively inhibited beryllium enrichment in the differentiated melt, but also removed a large amount of Ca. During the second stage, minerals in which beryllium is incompatible dominated the fractionating assemblage owing to the low Ca contents in the magma, resulting in a surge in beryllium concentration in the differentiated melt. Our findings reveal that beryllium cannot be appreciably enriched in calc-alkaline granitic magmatic systems until plagioclase fractionation has substantially removed Ca from the system. Deformation along strike-slip plate margins often accumulates within structurally partitioned and rheologically heterogeneous crustal blocks within the plate boundary. In these cases, contrasts in the physical properties and state of juxtaposed crustal blocks may play an important role in accommodation of deformation. Near the San Francisco Bay Area, California, USA, the Pacific-North American plate-bounding San Andreas fault bisects the Santa Cruz Mountains (SCM), which host numerous distinct, fault-bounded lithotectonic blocks that surround the San Andreas fault zone. In the SCM, a restraining bend in the San Andreas fault (the SCM bend) caused recent uplift of the mountain range since ca. 4 Ma. To understand how rheologic heterogeneity within a complex fault zone might influence deformation, we quantified plausible bounds on deformation and uplift across two adjacent SCM lithotectonic blocks on the Pacific Plate whose stratigraphic and tectonic histories differ. This was accomplished by combining 31 new apatite (U-Th)/He ages with existing thermochronological datasets to constrain exhumation of these two blocks. Additionally, surface exposures of the latest Miocene to late Pliocene Purisima Formation interpreted in 18 structural cross sections spanning the SCM allowed construction and restoration of Pliocene deformation in a three-dimensional geologic model. We found that rock uplift and deformation concentrated within individual Pacific Plate lithotectonic blocks in the SCM. Since 4 Ma, maximum principal strain computed for the more deformed block adjacent to the fault exceeded that computed for the less deformed block by at least 375%, and cumulative uplift has been more spatially extensive and higher in magnitude. We attribute the difference in uplift and deformation between the two blocks primarily to contrasts in lithotectonic structure, which resulted from diverging geologic histories along the evolving plate boundary. A-type granites generally have much lower water, higher temperature, and incompatible element concentrations than I-type granitoids. Yet it remains unclear why I-A-type granitic complexes occur in convergent plate margins. Here we conduct geochemical analyses on apatite and mafic minerals from the late Cretaceous I-A-type granitic complex in Fuzhou area, SE China, aiming to decipher differentiation, fluid metasomatism, and degassing that primarily control the compositional diversity of felsic magmas. Apatites in both rock types are F-rich and show large H2O and δD variations, i.e., 341–3892 ppm H2O and –325 to +336‰ δD in I-type granitoids; 67–1366 ppm H2O and –251 to +1439‰ δD in A-type granites. H2O in apatite is negatively correlated with La/Sm and Sr/Y in the I-type granitoids, whereas it is positively correlated with Ce and total rare earth element (REE) concentrations in the A-type granites. Once H2O increases up to hundreds of ppm, both rock types show a rapid decrease of H2O/Ce, an increase of F/Cl, and extensive H isotope fractionation. Arfvedsonite occurs as a late crystallizing mineral in the A-type granite and has much higher contents of Na2O, K2O, F, and high field strength elements (HFSE) than hornblende in the I-type granitoids, indicating the addition of F-HFSE-rich alkaline fluids during its magmatic evolution. The consumption of arfvedsonite and formation of aegirine further indicate the role of fluid metasomatism and H2 degassing via a reaction of 3Na3Fe5Si8O22(OH)2 + 2H2O = 9NaFeSi2O6 + 2Fe3O4 + 6SiO2+5H2. The combined geochemical data demonstrate that the systematic differences in mineral assemblage, whole-rock composition, magma temperature, H2O content, and δD of apatite between the I- and A-type granites are likely attributed to varying degrees of differentiation, fluid metasomatism and magmatic degassing. The I-type granitoids experienced hornblende, biotite, plagioclase, K-feldspar, and apatite fractionation and close-system degassing. The A-type granite was likely formed from the I-type monzogranitic magma that was metasomatized by the mantle-derived F-HFSE-rich alkaline fluids to produce the peralkaline magma, which further experienced K-feldspar + plagioclase + biotite + apatite fractionation and open-system degassing. Further numerical estimation indicates that the primary magma of Fuzhou granitic complex contained ~3.0 wt% H2O, and the lower water content of A-type granite was likely attributed to strong degassing during its emplacement. Apatite has been recognized as a robust tool for the study of magmatic volatiles in terrestrial and extraterrestrial systems due to its ability to incorporate various volatile components and its common occurrence in igneous rocks. Most previous studies have utilized apatite to study individual magmatic systems or regions. However, volatile systematics in terrestrial magmatic apatite formed under different geological environments has been poorly understood. In this study, we filtered a large compilation of data for apatite in terrestrial igneous rocks (n > 20,000), categorized the data according to tectonic settings, rock types, and bulk-rock compositions, and conducted statistical analyses of the F–Cl–OH–S–CO2 contents (~ 11,000 data for halogen and less for other volatiles). We find that apatite from volcanic arcs preserves a high Cl signature in comparison to other tectonic settings and the median Cl contents differ between arcs. Apatite in various types and compositions of igneous rocks shows overlapping F–Cl–OH compositions and features in some rock groups. Specifically, apatite in kimberlite is characterized as Cl-poor, whereas apatite in plutonic rocks can contain higher F and lower Cl contents than the volcanic counterparts. Calculation using existing partitioning models indicates that apatite with a high OH (or F) content does not necessarily indicate a H2O-rich (or H2O-poor) liquid because it could be a result of high (or low) magma temperature. Our work may provide a new perspective on the use of apatite to investigate volatile behavior in magma genesis and evolution across tectonic settings, volatile recycling at subduction zones, and the volcanic-plutonic connection. The conventional zircon (U–Th) / He (ZHe) method typically uses microscopy measurements of the dated grain together with the assumption that the zircon can be appropriately modeled as a geometrically perfect tetragonal or ellipsoidal prism in the calculation of volume (V), alpha-ejection correction (FT), equivalent spherical radius (RFT), effective uranium concentration (eU), and corrected (U–Th) / He date. Here, we develop a set of corrections for systematic error and determine uncertainties to be used in the calculation of the above parameters for zircon, using the same methodology as Zeigler et al. (2023) for apatite. Our approach involved acquiring both "2D" microscopy measurements and high-resolution "3D" nano-computed tomography (CT) data for a suite of 223 zircon grains from nine samples showcasing a wide range of morphology, size, age, and lithological source, calculating the V , FT , and RFT values for the 2D and 3D measurements and comparing the 2D vs. 3D results. We find that the values derived from the 2D microscopy data overestimate the true 3D V , FT , and RFT values for zircon, with one exception (V of ellipsoidal grains). Correction factors for this misestimation determined by regressing the 3D vs. 2D data range from 0.81–1.04 for V , 0.97–1.0 for FT , and 0.92–0.98 for RFT , depending on zircon geometry. Uncertainties (1 σ) derived from the scatter of data around the regression line are 13 %–21 % for V , 5 %–1 % for FT , and 8 % for RFT , again depending on zircon morphologies. Like for apatite, the main control on the magnitude of the corrections and uncertainties is grain geometry, with grain size being a secondary control on FT uncertainty. Propagating these uncertainties into a real dataset (N=28 ZHe analyses) generates 1 σ uncertainties of 12 %–21 % in eU and 3 %–7 % in the corrected ZHe date when both analytical and geometric uncertainties are included. Accounting for the geometric corrections and uncertainties is important for appropriately reporting, plotting, and interpreting ZHe data. For both zircon and apatite, the Geometric Correction Method is a practical and straightforward approach for calculating more accurate (U–Th) / He data and for including geometric uncertainty in eU and date uncertainties. Significant and readily accessible orogenic gold deposits have been previously recognized, exploited, and progressively depleted. Innovative approaches are required to discover new and deeply buried deposits. Recently, trace element variations in apatite have been used to distinguish fertile and barren environments as reliable mineral exploration tools. In this study, machine learning models using Random Forest and Deep Neutral Network are utilized to assess the fertility of quartz veins and altered zones in the orogenic gold systems. The two models have been trained using trace element data of apatite, and the performance of both models yield good classification accuracy (∼90% on average) with low false positive rates. Feature importance analysis (Gini decrease and hidden layer weights) suggest that Pb, As, U, Sr, Eu, Mn, and Fe are the important parameters. Arsenic, U, Eu, Mn, and Fe are redox‐sensitive elements, with their concentrations responding to changes in fluid redox conditions. Strontium primarily originates from the breakdown of plagioclase, which is more likely to occur under oxidizing fluid conditions. Therefore, we infer that the main controlling factor of the models is the redox conditions. The two distinct models consistently highlight the most significant contribution of Pb to this differentiation, even though Pb is not a redox‐sensitive element and can only substitute for Ca2+ in apatite as Pb2+. We infer that the high contribution of Pb may be attributed to the potential transportation of Au in the form of a Pb‐(Bi)‐Au melt, and the Pb content in apatite is influenced by the Pb content in the melt, fluid oxygen, and sulfur fugacity. We also propose a novel discriminant plot using Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) to assess the mineralization potential in quartz veins and alteration zones based on apatite trace element data. The machine learning and LDA results suggest that apatite trace elements could be used effectively in the future orogenic gold deposit exploration. Constraining the geometry and displacement of crustal‐scale normal faults has historically been challenging, owing to difficulties with geophysical imaging and inability to identify precise cut‐offs at depth. Using a modified workflow previously applied to contractional systems, flexural‐kinematic (Move) and thermal‐kinematic (Pecube) models are integrated with apatite (U‐Th)/He (AHe) and apatite fission track (AFT) data from Teton footwall transects to constrain total Teton fault displacement (Dmax). Models with slip onset at ∼10 Ma and flexure parameters that best match the observed Teton flexural profile require Dmax > 8 km to produce young (<10 Ma) AHe ages observed at low elevation footwall positions in the Tetons. For the same slip onset, models with Dmax of 11–13 km provide the best match to observed AHe data, but displacements ≥16 km are required to produce observed AFT ages (13.6–12.0 Ma) at low elevations. A more complex model with slow slip onset at ∼25 Ma followed by faster slip at ∼10 Ma yields a good match between modeled and observed AHe ages at a Dmax of 13–15 km. However, this model predicts low elevation AFT ages 6–8 Ma older than observed ages, even at Dmax values of 16–17 km. Based on this analysis and integration with previous studies, we propose a unified evolution wherein the Teton fault likely experienced 11–13 km of Miocene‐recent displacement, with AFT data likely indicating a pre‐to early Miocene cooling history. Importantly, this study highlights the utility of using integrated flexural‐ and thermal‐kinematic models to resolve displacement histories in extensional systems. High‐relief glacial valleys shape the modern topography of the Southern Patagonian Andes, but their formation remains poorly understood. Two Miocene plutonic complexes in the Andean retroarc, the Fitz Roy (49°S) and Torres del Paine (51°S) massifs, were emplaced between 16.9–16.4 Ma and 12.6–12.4 Ma, respectively. Subduction of oceanic ridge segments initiated ca. 16 Ma at 54°S, leading to northward opening of a slab window with associated mantle upwelling. The onset of major glaciations caused drastic topographic changes since ca. 7 Ma. To constrain the respective contributions of tectonic‐mantle dynamics and fluvio‐glacial erosion to rock exhumation and landscape evolution, we perform inverse thermal modeling of a new data set of zircon and apatite (U‐Th)/He from the two massifs, complemented by apatite 4He/3He data for Torres del Paine. Our results show rapid rock exhumation recorded only in the Fitz Roy massif between 10 and 8 Ma, which we ascribe to local mantle upwelling forcing surface uplift and intensified erosion around 49°S. Both massifs record a pulse of rock exhumation between 7 and 4 Ma, which we interpret as enhanced erosion during the beginning of Patagonian glaciations. After a period of erosional and tectonic quiescence in the Pliocene, increased rock exhumation since 3–2 Ma is interpreted as the result of alpine glacial valley carving promoted by reinforced glacial‐interglacial cycles. This study highlights that glacial erosion was the main driver to rock exhumation in the Patagonian retroarc since 7 Ma, but that mantle upwelling might be a driving force to rock exhumation as well. Plain Language Summary: The isotopic system (U‐Th)/He in apatite and zircon record the ages in which a rock experiences relatively low temperatures (200–60°C) at shallow crustal depths (6–1 km). We present a new data set of low‐temperature thermochronometers for rocks of the Fitz Roy and Torres del Paine mountains in the Southern Patagonian Andes. Fast rock cooling can be forced by intensified surface erosion, and/or tectonic and mantle activity. An episode of fast cooling between 10 and 8 Ma was identified in the Fitz Roy mountains, and mantle upwelling forcing surface uplift, combined with high fluvial erosion may have caused fast rock exhumation. A regional episode of fast rock cooling between 7 and 4 Ma causing 1–3 km of exhumation in the Fitz Roy and Torres del Paine is coincident with the onset of Patagonian glaciations, which would have enhanced erosion and, thus, rock exhumation. An episode of fast rock cooling in the Quaternary is recorded in Torres del Paine rocks, interpreted as enhanced fluvio‐glacial erosion during the Plio‐Pleistocene climate transition toward faster glacial/interglacial cycles. Therefore, we were able to quantify separately the effects of tectonics and climate changes on rock exhumation, what is usually difficult due to simultaneously occurring processes. Background and Objective: Various materials like MTA, Biodentine etc have been used for the regeneration of lost dental tissues. Still, the quest for newer materials to enhance the bioactivity of the existing materials continues. Hence this study aims at the evaluation of bioactivity of MTA Plus when conjugated with Chitosan in phosphate buffer saline. Methodology: Materials used were MTA Plus (Group 1), MTA Plus and chitosan conjugate(Group 2). The materials were mixed and placed in phosphate buffer saline. Bioactivity of Group 1 and Group 2 materials were assessed at 7 days and 28 day’s time intervals using SEM-EDX analysis. Results: SEM analysis of group 1 revealed a compact and agglomerate lath-like appearance with uniform particle size. SEM analysis of group 2 reveals acicular and lath-like appearance of the precipitate on the material surface. EDX analysis of the freshly prepared materials gave the qualitative semiquantitative elemental composition on the material surfaces after immersion in PBS for 7 and 28 days. Conclusion: MTA Plus Chitosan conjugate had greater potential to form apatite crystals on its surface. Hence, Chitosan can be used as a vehicle for the currently available materials to enhance the bioactivity and fasten the healing process.

Objective Numerous iron deposits hosted in Carboniferous marine volcanic rocks occurred in the Beishan Orogenic Belt, Eastern Tianshan.The Biyushan iron deposit, located at the northwestern margin of Inner Mongolia, is a typical iron deposit hosted in Carboniferous marine volcanic rocks. Methods In this study, we utilized field observation, microscope imaging, and scanning electron microscopy to charaterize the mineral assemblages of iron ores and microtextures of magnetite and apatite, in order to decipher the genesis of iron ores. Results Our preliminary work has revealed that iron ores in the Biyushan deposit commonly have a mineral assemblage of magnetite-apatite, with apatite having abundant monazite inclusions due to the dissolution-reprecipitation processes.In addition, magnetite grains commonly have high Ti contents with ilmenite exsolution.Thus, the mineral assemblage of iron ores and mineralogical features of apatite and magnetite are similar to these of typical Kiruna-type deposits. Conclusion Based on our preliminary analysis of geological characteristics, we suggest that the Biyushan iron deposit in Inner Mongolia is likely a Kiruna-type iron deposit hosted in submarine volcanic rocks that has not yet been documented.Therefore, these findings can guide future exploration of iron oxide-apatite deposits in this region.

Developing solid-state ionic conductors with desirable charge-transport efficiency and reasonable durability is a fundamental and long-lasting challenge for solid-oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). Ceria-based electrolytes, as one of the most common types of electrolytes for intermediate-temperature solid-oxide fuel cells (IT-SOFCs), offer a high surface-exchange coefficient and faster kinetics in the triple phase boundaries (TPBs); however, they suffer to some extent of electronic conductivity in the reducing atmosphere and gradual phase transitions. Here in this work, we have reported a novel co-doped IT-SOFC electrolyte composite combining the apatite structure of Lanthanum Silicate (LSO) with the fluorite structure of Gadolinium-doped Ceria (GDC), which showed a high ionic conductivity and a minimal electronic leak. The resulting GDC-LSO composite electrolyte also achieved an OCV (open-circuit voltage) of 1 V at 800 °C, implying a significant improvement in the OCV values reported for the typical ceria-based electrolytes (∼0.75 V). The sample was prepared using 40 wt% GDC and 60 wt% LSO (40GDC-60LSO) showed a maximum electrical conductivity of 25 mS cm−1 at 800 °C with good densification properties (>95 % relative density). The cell electrochemical performance measurement was conducted using a 3.0 vol% humified H 2 stream at the anode side while the cathode side was exposed to the air at 800 °C. The interdiffusion of cations between La3+ in the LSO phase and Ce4+ and Gd3+ in the GDC phase was detected by XRD and EDX results after sintering samples at 1500 °C for 4 h using 0.5 wt% PVA or 0.5 wt% Ethyl cellulose (EC) as the binder. The proposed GDC-LSO composite could help better understand the influence of compositional constituents and processing variables on the densification and electrical properties of the electrolyte materials for the IT-SOFCs. The Haftcheshmeh Cu-Mo porphyry system is located in the Arasbaran magmatic zone in Alborz-Azarbaijan structure zone, northwestern Iran. As ore mineralization occurred mainly in gabbrodiorite and granodiorite porphyry stocks, chemical compositions of rock forming minerals in gabbrodiorite and granodiorite porphyries are used to identify critical vectors of magmatic processes and hydrothermal mineralization related to the formation. All analyzed (magmatic and hydrothermal) apatites saturation temperatures show ranges of calculated temperatures of 830°C to 877°C and pressures of 0.11 to 0.96 Kbar, corresponding to depths of 4 to 10 km and H2Omelt content (3< wt.%), and suggesting a hydrous calc-alkaline magma generated from a deep magmatic source. Analyzed apatite support the ore forming magmas which are oxidized by I type magma with relatively high ƒO2. The trend of volatile element variations indicated that primary fluid exsolution probably occurred at temperatures from ~712°C to 842°C and was affected by hydrous and oxidized mafic magma from a deeper part of the magma reservoir. It may result in an extensive magma mixture with fractional crystallization of apatite in the evolved gabbrodiorite and granodiorite magma chambers.
