We present a review of in situ observations regarding the interactions between tropical cyclones and the ocean in the western North Pacific for the year 2023. A total of at least 13 tropical cyclones occurred during this period. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, Typhoon Mawar recorded the yearly minimum pressure at 900 hPar. On average, each tropical cyclone captured 7.4 surface drifters and 25.2 Argo floats when the search radius is 300 km. During Guchol, the maximum in situ Lagrangian current reached 1.23 m/s, with sustained wind speeds of the tropical cyclone up to 31.7 m/s and a relative position of 174 km. Additionally, several Argo floats were active during tropical cyclones, with maximum sea surface temperature cooling reaching 0.66 °C. This annual review provides a comprehensive summary of the current state of in situ observations regarding tropical cyclone–ocean interaction. Perovskite (PVK) solar cells (PSCs) have garnered considerable research interest owing to their cost-effectiveness and high efficiency. A systematic annual review of the research on PSCs is essential for gaining a comprehensive understanding of the current research trends. Herein, systematic analysis of the research papers on PSCs reporting key findings in 2023 was conducted. Based on the results, the papers were categorized into six classifications, including regular n–i–p PSCs, inverted p–i–n PSCs, PVK-based tandem solar cells, PVK solar modules, device stability, and lead toxicity and green solvents. Subsequently, a detailed overview and summary of the annual research advancements within each classification were presented. Overall, this review serves as a valuable resource for guiding future research endeavors in the field of PSCs.

A review of scholarly work on Marlowe from the year 2020.

There are unique challenges associated with the evaluation of faculty in pharmacy departments or divisions that have a mix of nontenure-track and tenure-track faculty members. Such evaluations are intended to provide feedback on performance and personal growth but have the potential to demotivate faculty and add to existing stress if improperly performed. The purpose of this commentary is to suggest best practices for department chairs involved in performing evaluations of faculty in pharmacy departments or divisions that have a mix of nontenure-track and tenure-track faculty members. The paper is intended to help ensure these evaluations not only capture the quality and quantity of each faculty member's full range of activities and responsibilities but also are conducted in a supportive and constructive fashion. A total of 139 articles on counselor education and supervision published in professional counseling journals during 2019 were reviewed. A variety of methods were used, providing perspectives on current supervision issues, the training of counselors, curriculum developments, and associated professional issues. Implications include a need for continued research on online teaching and school counselor supervision and exploration of inclusion and advocacy efforts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper serves as an annual review of capillary electrophoresis (CE) technology for 2023. The journals were selected based on their impact factor (IF), a universally recognized academic performance metric, combined with experimental work closely related to CE technology, to facilitate the rapid acquisition of significant research and application advancements in CE technology in 2023. A thematic search of the ISI Web of Science database yielded 669 research papers on CE technology published in 2023. This review highlights five experimental papers published in journals with IFs greater than 10.0, including Nature Communications , Nucleic Acids Research , Engineering , Journal of Medical Virology , and Carbohydrate Polymers , and 31 experimental papers from representative journals with IFs between 5.0 and 10.0, such as Analytical Chemistry , Analytica Chimica Acta , Talanta , and Food Chemistry . It also provides an overview of experimental research in journals with focused reporting on CE technology but with IFs less than 5.0, such as Journal of Chromatography A and Electrophoresis , as well as significant experimental research from key domestic Chinese core journals (Peking University). In 2023, all the latest scientific advancements reported in journals with an IF greater than 10.0 utilized previously reported CE methods, offering new breakthroughs for the promotion and application of CE technology. Additionally, new applications of CE in conjunction with mass spectrometry remained a hot topic. An increase in reports on the hardware aspects of CE, such as 3D printing and underwater systems, and significant breakthroughs in the analysis of non-solution samples, such as solid particles, cell vesicles, cells, viruses, and bacteria, was noted. CE is advantageous for the analysis of drugs and their components. In Chinese journals, the number of papers on CE applications exceeded that in previous years, with particular focus on the field of printing for new applications.

People with diabetes who are housebound often fall between services and, therefore, do not always receive all of their key care processes, including insulin delivery. As part of a review of all such patients within a clinical commissioning group (CCG) in Kent, this project was conducted to train unregistered practitioners to carry out annual review. The aim was to improve knowledge and competencies among unregistered practitioners in order for them to be able to carry out some components of the diabetes annual review. Six unregistered practitioners employed by the GP practice or the community health trust participated in the project. Each practitioner achieved nine competencies, based on the TREND-UK competency framework. Competencies were achieved through classroom-based learning delivered by a nurse consultant in diabetes, as well as practical supervision of tasks and skills associated with carrying out an annual review. Reflective work and discussion demonstrated not only new skills learned but also how to put these into practice. It is hoped that the training of unregistered practitioners as part of the overall project not only improved their understanding and knowledge but also improved the standard of care delivered to this vulnerable group of people with diabetes.
