Background/Aim. Uterine carcinosarcoma (UCS), formerly known as malignant mixed Müllerian tumor, is a rare, aggressive malignancy of the female genital tract. The aim of this study was to analyze the most important clinical and pathohistological characteristics of UCSs on operated patients, as well as to determine which of those factors are affecting progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) of patients. Methods. The study was conducted as a retrospective analysis of medical data documentation of patients with a diagnosis of UCS who were surgically treated at the Department of Gynecology, Clinic for Operative Oncology, Oncology Institute of Vojvodina, Sremska Kamenica, Serbia, in 10 years' period (from the beginning of 2009 to the end of 2018). The analysis included data for a total of 31 patients. Results. Of all the examined parameters (age of the patient, clinical stage of the disease, histological grade, depth of myometrial invasion, and lymphovascular invasion -- LVI), the greatest influence on the choice of therapeutic procedure had a histological tumor grade. Conclusion. Our research showed the joint influence of the examined clinical and pathohistological factors on PFS and OS of patients with UCS. Background/Aim. Urinary tract infection (UTI) in children with febrile neutropenia (FN) after receiving chemotherapy could be followed by atypical symptoms and signs. The absence of routine urine culture (UC) sampling for analysis could lead to undiagnosed disease and inadequate treatment of these patients. The aim of the study was to indicate the importance of sampling UC in children who have developed FN and to point out the most probable causative agents of UTI in children with FN and antibiotic sensitivity/resistance of the isolated strains. Methods. During a five-year observation period, 40 UTIs were registered in 30 patients with FN. In the study group of patients with FN, the number of UTIs, the number of recurrent UTIs, isolated pathogens, their sensitivity to antibiotics, characteristics of urine sediment, the presence of localized symptoms of UTI, and the presence of urosepsis were analyzed. The obtained results were compared with the control group which consisted of children who were healthy prior to hospitalization due to febrile urinary infection. Results. When compared to the control group, significant differences in the presence of symptoms of UTI and urine sediment findings in patients with FN were observed. A higher percentage of resistant strains of Escherichia coli isolated from UC of cancer patients with FN was noted when compared to the control group. Three UTI cases were followed by urosepsis. Conclusion. UC findings are important not only in establishing the diagnosis of UTI and detecting multi-resistant bacterial strains but also in choosing appropriate antibiotics and selecting a subgroup of patients with recurrent UTI who require further monitoring and detecting potential complications in a timely manner. The object of research in the article is Descartes' mathematical method and it aims to show the consequences which the implementation of the aforementioned method in philosophy had on human cognition, and ultimately on the cognition of the material world. For that purpose, the first segment of the article focuses on the detailed explanation of Descartes' understanding of method and shows the novelty of his methodological approach in regard of the precedent philosophical tradition. The second segment of the article shows the application the first rule of mathematical method in Metaphysical Meditations which calls for the methodical - in this case also universal - doubt that can be generally applied. The third segment of the article reveals how Descartes egresses the state of doubt and his attempt to demonstrate the existence of the material world. Here, we also see the difficulties and logical fallacies in Descartes' demonstration. The method used in the research was the method of analysis of Descartes' works: Discourse on Method, Rules of the Direction of the Mind, Metaphysical Meditations in conjunction with the objections and replies and the Principles of Philosophy. As it is seen in the bibliography a relevant secondary literature has been used as an aid in interpretation of Descartes' texts. The results of the research point towards multiple negative consequences which stem from the universal implementation of the mathematical method on the objects of human cognition, particularly concerning the cognition of the material world. Introduction: According to literature, free radicals cause many diseases. A great interest in antioxidants is observed, especially their nature and origin. The use of synthetic ones must be limited due to their side effects. Objective: The aim of the study was to determine the antioxidant activity of red raspberry shoots liquid extracts. Methods: Using spectrophotometric and alkalimetric methods of analysis, the main biologically active substances (BAS) in the six obtained red raspberry shoots liquid extracts, were quantified. The potentiometric method was applied to assess antioxidant effect. Results: Results demonstrate a high amount of phenolic compounds and catechins in aqueous extract. They were 23.20±0.46 and 20.00±0.40 mg/ml, respectively. The flavonoids and hydroxycinnamic acids dominated in 80% extract (1.00±0.40 and 3.94 mg/ml, respectively). The greatest level of organic acids was found in 20% extract (3.15±0.06 mg/ml). The aqueous extract of red raspberry shoots possessed the highest antioxidant properties. Thus, water is the most appropriate solvent for extracting biologically active compounds. Conclusions: The aqueous extract possessed the highest value of antioxidant activity. The greatest content of polyphenols and catechins has been found in the aqueous extract. The correlation was observed between the highest amount of antioxidant activity of hydroxycinnamic acid derivatives and the lowest in organic acids. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of paper is to analyze the application of the safety system on table saws. The research methodology used to analyze the application of the safety system on table saws is presented, using the method of description using a newly-formed checklist. The research was conducted on a sample of 18 table saws, where it was determined that over 50% of the analyzed machines are unsafe to use. When analyzing structures, there are several different methods that are used. The method most often used in analysis is the finite element method. The finite element method was also used in the elaboration of the problem herein, and it is related to displacement in plate structures. Numerical models will be approximated by finite triangular elements in the CYPE program and by finite square elements in the TOWER 3D Model Builder program. In the end, a comparison will be made of the results and of the influence of the type and density of the finite element mesh as well as the quality of the concrete on the result of the analysis. A significant problem with the effective functioning of the hard-coal mining industry, especially in relation to mining enterprises and mines located in the Upper Silesian Coal Basin, are the high costs of mining. This is due to many reasons, among which, an important aspect is the ineffective use of the working time of mining faces. The unsatisfactory use of working time caused by unplanned shutdowns of mining faces is a significant reason for the fact that the use of the production potential of the expensive, modern mechanized systems built in them, with the production capacity of around 1,000-1,500 tons per hour, is relatively small -- the average daily volume of mining from a longwall working is most often around 3,000 tonnes or even slightly less. A significant reason for this is the occurrence of a large number of interruptions in the continuity of their work, which is mainly caused by equipment failures, the impact of unfavorable geological and mining conditions or technological shutdowns. The article deals with the problem of the unsatisfactory level of the effective use of working time in mining faces (longwalls) in Polish hard-coal mines. The main reason for this is the occurrence of a large number of unplanned stops and interruptions, sometimes lasting several days. Their elimination or at least reduction would significantly contribute to the improvement of the existing situation. The condition for this, however, is reliable analyses aimed at detailed the identification of their causes. It was proposed to use three methods -- the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), the development of the Pareto-Lorenz diagram and the 5 Whys method. examples of their practical application are also presented. This paper raises the issue of the nomenclature of cheeses (tyronyms). The analysed onymic corpus comprises 200 proper names of cheeses produced by the Polish local cheese dairies and organic farms. The focal point of this discussion is the description of the motivation behind modern tyronyms and the factors determining the nomenclature. Anđelko Vuletić bosanskohercegovački je pjesnik, pripovjedač, dramski pisac i prevoditelj. Kao mitski i stvarni prostor radnje svojih romana odabire podneblja Hercegovine u kojima se ostvaruje razigranost ekspresionističke vizije. U kompoziciji i formi njegovih romana prevladava narativno-ispovjedni ton, a time i intimno viđenje stvari kod likova. Najveći dio radnje veže se za sudbine glavnoga lika, a govorenjem u prvome licu, što je kod Vuletićevih likova jako često, lik nerijetko preuzima i ulogu pripovjedača iako on već postoji u vidu pouzdana pripovjedača. U ovome radu prikazat će se osnovne jezičnostilske odlike romana Gorko sunce. Analizirat će se posebnosti na semantičkoj, semiotičkoj i stilističkoj razini te će se izdvojiti najbitnije jezičnostilske jedinice.

Lična motivacija, kao i angažovanje i rad u skijanju naveli su autore da istraže razlike u prosečnoj hronološkoj starosti skijaša i skijašica kao i da stručnoj javnosti prezentuju rezultate u cilju uspešnijeg planiranja i programiranja trenažnog procesa. U radu je analizirana prosečna hronološka starost profesionalnih alpskih skijaša i skijašica, osvajača medalja na Svetskim kupovima, u olimpijskom ciklusu 2015–2018. Analizirane su sledeće alpske discipline: Slalom SL, Vleleslalom GS, Super G SG, Spust DH i Alpska kombinacija AC. Dobijeni rezultati ukazuju da postoji statsitički značajna razlika u prosečnoj hronološkoj starosti između skijaša i skijašica. Pri tome, može se uočiti da postoje značajne razlike u disciplinama GS, SG, DH i AC, gde su skijaši stariji u proseku od skijašica. Nasuprot tome, u disciplini SL nije bilo značajnih razlika u hronološkoj starosti skijaša i skijašica. Rezultati ovog istraživanja mogu pomoći trenerima i stručnjacima u višegodišnjem individualnom upravljanju sportske karijere skijaša i skijašica.

Tłumaczenie książki Jacques’a Aumonta Interpretacja filmów jest dla polskiego czytelnika okazją do zmierzenia się ze współczesną problematyką analizy i interpretacji dzieła filmowego w perspektywie francuskiej teorii filmu. Recenzowana książka stanowi przykład autorskiego wykładu na temat interpretacji filmu, której fenomen polega na tym, że jest ona i codziennością widza, i sztuką realizowaną profesjonalnie. Metodę pisania Aumonta można określić jako metodę jukstapozycji: zestawiania istniejących modeli interpretacji w celu weryfikacji ich skuteczności, żywotności czy uniwersalności.

Aim. The subject of the research was the text of the novel Nibynoc by Jay Kristoff and its translation. The aim was to determine skopos in the translation into Polish. Methods. A comparative analysis was made, mainly of neologisms created by the author, in comparison with Małgorzata Strzelec's translation. A comprehensive comparison of both works was also made in order to find skopos in the translator's actions. Results and conclusions. It has been shown that despite a few exceptions, the translator adopted a specific translation method for each type of neologism present in the book. Her goal can be considered as a faithful rendition of the content in the target language. The elements of exoticisation that appeared were intended to allow the reader to have a deeper experience of the fictional world. Cognitive value. Fantasy literature has great research potential, not only in the case of scopos. Addressing the topic of skopos in fantasy literature can inspire the analysis of other literary genres and encourage the search for deeper meaning in the actions taken by translators.
