The coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic posed a big obstacle for nations as it affected the anticipated cash flows from the tourism and hospitality industry. Many tourist destinations have suffered as a result of the coronavirus disease 2019 crisis. Tourism and hospitality have been major source of revenue, and nations depend on them to augment their budgetary issues and support the provision of basic public services. Ethical tourism, responsible tourism, social justice, and sustainable tourism promise to be effective tools to execute this reputation agenda, which scholars have ignored. This paper proposes a conceptual framework that shows the effect of sustainability actions and justice on stakeholders in the tourism and hospitality industries, presently and for future generations. An in-depth literature review was employed using papers on sustainability actions. Using Scopus-indexed journals, 88 articles from several databases were sourced using key words. The conceptual framework provides insights into how global crises such as coronavirus disease in 2019 can be used as a gate to launch social justice in the tourism and hospitality space for employees, local tourism communities, tourists, and stakeholders globally. It provides academics and practitioners in the tourism and hospitality sectors with a fairer perspective on the development of strategies to attract tourists and better investment initiatives. CouchSurfing is a non-profit internet site through which people offer or get free lodging in the host’s home. The aim of the current article is to compare the various motivations of sharing behaviours occurring amongst Brazilian and Portuguese when guests, as far as the use of Couchsurfing as an alternative tourism activity is concerned. The current study offers a qualitative, exploratory and comparative approach addressing Brazilian and Portuguese guests. The results rely on 18 in-depth interviews with ten Brazilian and eight Portuguese guests. The content analysis was carried out based on theme categorization defined before data collection. As far as the similarities between the guests from both countries is concerned, the expectations of sharing cultural experiences and establishing social bonds, as well as the need to trust the host indicated the motivation to travel using the platform - this included both parties, the Portuguese and the Brazilians alike. Conversely, only the Brazilians indicated the motivation of use as means of reducing travel costs and meeting utilitarian needs such as sleeping. The study contributes to the sharing economy literature as it identifies that the Degree of Identification amongst the Peers, Perceived Risks, and Value Co-creation Perception are also elements that motivate sharing tourism.

Objective: To raise awareness about the ecological importance of orchids and to promote the species commercialized by a company focused on their production through the design of a trail. Design/Methodology/Approach: A diagnosis of the plot was carried out to identify its characteristics and points of interest. A trail was designed to connect the most outstanding points. Native trees, which are the habitat of orchids, were subsequently planted to establish the outdoor collections. Results: The appeal of the place and the established phorophytes were taken into consideration to design the trail. Likewise, recommendations were made on what species of orchids should be planted in each station along the trail. Study Limitations/Implications: Evaluating visitor experience is pending. The trail lacks infrastructure for people with disabilities. The trail is located in an area subjected to anthropization and it will take several years before orchids can be established on the trees planted in July 2023. Findings/Conclusions: Trails are a useful tool to promote the conservation of native orchids; however, under anthropization conditions, it should be subjected to a systematized implementation to provide the climate and phorophyte conditions necessary for the survival of orchids. Tourism destination development and visitor satisfaction are significantly enhanced by responsible tourism practices. Responsible tourism should be taken into consideration as a policy choice being a strategic marketing tool improving destination quality and tourist satisfaction. This study is an effort to comprehend how responsible tourism practices affect visitor satisfaction, re‐visit intention, and word‐of‐mouth. The study also took into account how visitors' awareness of responsible tourism mediated their satisfaction with their experiences while visiting the area. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to test the proposed model from the data gathered from 548 tourists. Results revealed that responsible tourism practices significantly improved visitor satisfaction, followed by increased likelihood of returning and favorable word‐of‐mouth recommendations. Research The environment not only provides the basic needs for all living things to survive, but also offers the financial means necessary to maintain the social order. One of the primary resources used by the tourism sector is the environment. Ecotourism and other environmentally conscious tourism initiatives have the power to promote environmental sustainability. In this context, the aim of the current research is to investigate the ecotourism opportunities of Lake Beysehir and the surrounding, to provide several recommendations for improving the ecotourism potential of the area and for supporting a sustainable environment in the region. For this purpose, a study was conducted with a quantitative research design. A survey form suitable for SWOT analysis was preferred as the data collection tool. Data for the study were obtained from participants determined using the guided sampling technique, which is preferred for quantitative studies. By analyzing the obtained data, research area's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities in terms of ecotourism, and possible threats to the region's tourism are revealed. In the conclusion of the study, strategies that will enable the identified strengths and opportunities to be transformed into sustainable and environmental friendly tourism activities have been developed. In the article, we will explain the concept of alternative tourism and its subtypes, we will dwell on its role in the preservation of cultural and historical heritage of an architectural type by means of technological solutions – an intelligent guide with ontological knowledge.

The fact that media usage needs have such a wide range causes people to spend more time in related environments, thus causing addiction. It is important for people to turn to digital detox activities, to notice and reduce their addiction. The aim of the study is to observe and evaluate the effect of digital detox tourism activities to increase the awareness of technology addiction and to control technology addiction. In the study, multiple/collective case study, which is included in the case study in qualitative research, was used. In the study, 10 volunteers have been identified through the criterion sampling method, which is purposive sampling. The fact that the study includes the sample group, and the digital detox tourism experience activity adds originality to the study. In the study, it was concluded that the experience of digital detox tourism increased the awareness of digital technology addiction at a high level. In addition, it was determined that people had the chance to focus on the moment thanks to digital detox tourism and could have the ability to use digital technologies with healthy limits thanks to the opportunities offered by physical life, the relaxation, regeneration, gained mobility and awareness. Moreover, it was indicated that digital detox tourism provided a very high relaxation and resting benefit as it offered people the opportunity to be purified from digital technologies during the holiday process. In line with the data obtained from the study, it is revealed that Rize province has a high potential in digital detox tourism, so it can be an important alternative in new product development studies. The purpose of this publication is to offer an analysis of the possibilities for diversification of the local economy by exploring the attitudes of stakeholders towards the localization of alternative tourism within the territorial scope. The study is based on the following methods and information sources: analysis and summary of literature, graphical and schematic representation of characteristics and trends, comparative analysis, questionnaire survey. Main results - The regional specificities in the individual territories of Bulgaria have been established. Possibilities for stimulating types of tourism specific to individual regions, have been identified. The potential of individual territories for diversifying economic activities have been revealed. In conclusion, it can be said that the development of various initiatives related to alternative tourism is essential for the local economy. Also in view of the general development of other sectors and diverse activities in the municipalities, in order to offer a quality service, respectively to achieve positive effects on local economic development, it is necessary to take into account all aspects of the interrelationships of the various forms of alternative tourism with a number of socio-economic activities at the local level. A firm would like to know which factors are the most significant for its revenue growth and this can be a very complex problem to solve since revenue determinants can be identified by literature to be a plethora of variables. The paper provides the methodology for pinpointing the most important revenue determinants for tourism accommodation establishments. Specifically, it aims to provide insight into revenue determinants of hotels and tourist accommodation establishments specializing in alternative tourism in a land-lock region of Northwestern Greece using the LASSO method on questionnaire data. LASSO presents many advantages for estimating tourism models with many possible determinants with a data-driven procedure for the selection of variables. Results suggest that tourists visiting the region, have strong preferences for traditional hostels of very high quality with investments in accessible tourism. Also, important determinants of revenue growth are the existence of a restaurant, playground, fitness centre, souvenir shop, the number of employees, and the human capital of the establishments. Nitel araştırma desenlerinden keşfedici-bütüncül tek durum deseni olarak tasarlanan bu araştırmanın temel amacı, Düldül Dağı’nın alternatif turizm potansiyelini yerel paydaşların perspektifinden ortaya koymaktır. Ayrıca, Düldül Dağı’nda alternatif turizmin geliştirilebilmesine yönelik öneriler sunmak araştırmanın alt amacı olarak belirlenmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemini amaçlı örnekleme tekniğine göre belirlenmiş 10 yerel paydaş oluşturmaktadır. Belirlenen amaçlara yönelik olarak yerel paydaşlarla yarı yapılandırılmış soru formu aracılığıyla 2023 yılı Haziran-Temmuz aylarında derinlemesine görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Ayrıca, mevcut durumu ortaya koyabilmek amacıyla saha gezileri kapsamında gözlemler yapılmıştır. Görüşmelerden elde edilen veriler, betimleyici içerik analizi ve güçlü-zayıf-fırsat-tehdit (SWOT) analizi yöntemiyle incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın bulgularına göre, Düldül Dağı ekoturizm ve termal turizm başta olmak üzere alternatif turizm kaynakları bakımından oldukça zengindir. Ancak ekonomik sorunlar, Covid-19, deprem gibi unsurlar nedeniyle alternatif turizme yönelik planlamalar faaliyete geçirilememiştir. SWOT analizi sonuçlarına göre; Düldül Dağı'nın en güçlü yanı doğal turizm kaynakları bakımından zengin olmasıdır. En zayıf yönleri ise altyapı ve üstyapı olanaklarının yetersiz oluşu ve tanıtım eksikliği olarak tespit edilmiştir. Diğer taraftan, Düldül Dağı'na yapılan teleferik tesisi ve alternatif turizme yönelik talep artışı en büyük fırsatlar olarak değerlendirilirken; planlanan projeler için finansal destek bulunamaması, bölgenin zamanla kitle turizmi etkisi altında kalabilme ihtimali ve deprem en büyük tehdit unsurları olarak belirlenmiştir.

One of the key elements of modern tourism is the alternative forms it offers. Festivals and festival tourism arouse great interest among many tourists, and as a result of their implementation, an increase in tourist traffic levels is reported. As part of the main tourism assets for a region, festivals are gaining momentum and have a significant impact on the economy of the localities where they are held. The International Lavender Festival is proof of the sustainable development of tourism, based on an agricultural activity characteristic of the region - lavender production. The PURPOSE of the present research is to show how a traditional livelihood of the local population supports the revival of activities that have the potential to create added value, social inclusion, entrepreneurship and limit the migration flow. The applied scientific METHODS are statistical, historical, comparative-descriptive, comprehensive assessment and regional analysis. Of greatest value is the conducted field research, which has been discussed in more detail in the discussion. The RESULTS confirm the research hypothesis that the natural and anthropogenic resources available in Bulgaria are a prerequisite for the development of alternative forms of tourism. The main CONCLUSIONS suggest that the attitudes of tourists towards this type of tourism are positive and this would help its sustainable regional development.

The academic sector has investigated tourism as a strategy for the conservation of ethnobiological elements that are attractive to visitors to Biosphere Reserves (BR). Therefore, the objective of this review is to analyze the central characteristics of research on tourism and ethnotourism in some global Protected Natural Areas and in the Mexico's BRs, its link with ethnobiology the possible insertion of ethnotourism in the BR. 108 documents were reviewed, finding biocultural elements to offer ethnotourism in the Mexico's BRs. The present work is a proposal through sustainable rural tourism, so that tourism entrepreneurs or businessmen have development alternatives in this modality, since they can consolidate and take advantage of the benefits in carrying out these activities that it offers to the inhabitants and tourist service providers, since it represents sources of income. In the present investigation, the analytical-descriptive method was used, which helped us to collect exact data to prepare the brief inventory of natural and cultural resources and also to verify the level of acceptance of the proposal, which was 75.7% according to the applied survey. to tourism entrepreneurs, which suggests that those who venture into this business will be successful. The results obtained indicate that the population is aware of the model-proposal, as an alternative or business option for the Puerto Cayo rural parish and, above all, if an alternative tourism modality is rescued, it is strengthened and it is helped to position itself with all the strategies of an effective and well applied marketing. Thus, turning Puerto Cayo into a referential icon of the region, of the country and why not say of the foreigner and, in this way, improve the lifestyle of its inhabitants. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The basis for the development of alternative forms of tourism is founded on the attractions of natural and anthropogenic origin that the landscape contains. Sharr Mountain is a set of natural rarities and beauties, each of which represents separate rarities. A significant place in the paper is occupied by the section dealing with the most important characteristics and values that affect the development of alternative forms of tourism such as geographical and tourist position and traffic connection, geomorphological characteristics, climate characteristics, hydrographic characteristics, flora, and fauna, where special emphasis will be placed on the tourist sites of Sharr Mountain such as Brustovec, Leshnica, Popova Sapka, Ljuboten which have greater potential in the development of alternative forms of tourism in Sharr Mountain. The natural beauties that these tourist sites contain are quite interesting and represent a great tourist offer. Given the growing involvement of tourists in various alternative tourism activities, it can be seen that this sector of alternative tourism, as part of the tourism industry, is gaining importance. That is why this issue is being addressed, and the possibilities for the development of alternative forms of tourism in the Southwest region of the Republic of North Macedonia are being explored. The Popova Shapka site is the only site that has a tourist infrastructure, which from a historical point of view it can be concluded that this site was closer to the road and had the advantage of being the first to develop as a tourist center. “Qiongyou” is an alternative tourism that has emerged in China and is characterized by a “low-budget” approach. This article argues that qiongyou can be seen as a form of justice tourism. First, qiongyou is a collective socio-cultural resistance of grassroots travelers to the structural injustice of state-led tourism in the context of the financial crisis. Second, qiongyouers provide low-budget tourism participation options for the economically disadvantaged through alternative travel market practices and discursive practices. The study of qiongyou provides an empirical case from a developing country and complements current research on justice tourism with a tourism participation perspective and related justice issues. The main purpose of this research, which was designed as an exploratory-integrative single case design from qualitative research designs, is to reveal the alternative tourism potential of Düldül Mountain from the perspective of local stakeholders. In addition, the sub-objective of the research is to provide suggestions for the development of alternative tourism in Düldül Mountain. The research sample consists of ten local stakeholders selected through purposive sampling technique. In-depth interviews were conducted with the local stakeholders in June-July 2023 using a semi-structured questionnaire to address the specified objectives. Furthermore, field trips were conducted to observe and assess the current situation in order to present a comprehensive perspective. The data obtained from the interviews were subjected to descriptive content analysis and strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis. According to the findings of the research, Düldül Mountain is rich in alternative tourism resources, particularly in ecotourism and thermal tourism. However, due to economic challenges, Covid-19, and other factors such as earthquakes, the implementation of alternative tourism plans has been hindered. According to the results of the SWOT analysis, Düldül Mountain's greatest strength lies in its rich natural tourism resources. The weakest aspects are identified as the inadequate infrastructure and facilities, as well as the lack of promotional activities for Düldül Mountain. On the other hand, the construction of a cable car facility to Düldül Mountain and the increasing demand for alternative tourism are considered the most significant opportunities. However, the lack of financial support for planned projects, the possibility of the region falling under the influence of mass tourism over time, and the threat of earthquakes are identified as the major threats. This study examined netizen attitudes toward space tourism. A content analysis was performed on 260 memes collected in response to the first tourist-focused suborbital spaceflight of Virgin Galactic and Blue Origin. While findings indicate a variety of perspectives toward both historic moments for the new commercial space industry, the overall sentiment was negative. Using cultural references and humor, this critical response focused on the billionaire founders Richard Branson and Jeff Bezos, downplayed their achievement, and questioned their environmental, financial, and social/ethical practices. This discursive contention is sharply opposed to dominant narratives which typically frame space tourism as a net positive for humankind. Findings offer insight into emerging attitudes toward present-day space tourism and potential challenges to the industry's future development.

The article is devoted to the problem of theoretical and practical foundations of research and substantiation of mechanisms for the formation and implementation of a strategy for the development of sustainable tourism based on sustainable development of society and harmonization of relationships in the triangle of «ecology – economy – society». The content of the concept of «responsible tourism» is defined, which is considered as tourism that respects the environment, community and culture of a tourist place, is aimed at eliminating the negative consequences caused by irresponsible mass tourism and is oriented toward creating the development of sustainable tourism that protects the interests of local communities and heritage sites in communities. The components of sustainable tourism (geotourism, cultural tourism, ecological tourism) are studied, in which all participants in the tourism process are obliged to protect the natural environment and resources in order to ensure healthy, progressive and sustainable economic growth. It is determined that in the context of the development of sustainable tourism, the role of environmental volunteering and volunteer tourism is growing; the main areas of environmental volunteering are considered as follows: water quality monitoring, wildlife monitoring, animal rehabilitation and rescue, cleaning of plastic garbage. Today, volunteer organizations exist in 80 countries around the world. About 110 million people annually participate in voluntary programs where they lend a helping hand in the fields of education, health, ecology, social protection and many others. The author considers the most famous volunteer tourism programs, including the UNWTO.Volunteers Program, which aims to train young professionals in the tourism industry. The program provides tools for poverty alleviation and development, allowing volunteers to carry out the practical transfer of applied practical know-how, which, in turn, will empower beneficiaries who wish to implement initiatives related to the development of sustainable tourism.

The development of a tourism site necessitates the participation of various actors. This study's goal is to analyse stakeholders by identifying, categorizing, and describing their interrelationships, as well as the difficulties they encounter, and then optimizing them to develop coffee gastronomy tourism in Malang. The research was conducted in Harjokuncaran Village-Sumbermanjing Wetan (AMSTIRDAM region) by using observation of events and interviews with stakeholders (as primary data sources), and a literature review and documentation (as secondary data sources). The acquired data were then evaluated using qualitative descriptive and pentahelix modeling methods. We identified the engaged stakeholders as primary stakeholders, secondary stakeholders, and key stakeholders. Each stakeholder serves as a coordinator, implementer, facilitator, policymaker, and accelerator. The involved parties can be classified into five categories: the community, the government, the private sector, academics, and media activists. According to the results of the pentahelix modeling, the media and academics, as well as the private sector and academia, do not have a direct relationship, whereas other stakeholders have direct relationships based on mutual trust and respect. The efforts should be optimized by the involvement and participation of stakeholders, enhancing coordination and collaboration among stakeholders, and conducting tourism management.

Turizm, bir ülkenin ekonomisini canlandıran ve ülke kültürünün tanıtılmasına katkı sağlayan, geleneksel ve alternatif olmak üzere iki temel gruptan oluşan faaliyetler bütünüdür. Geleneksel turizm, tatil ve eğlence merkezlerine gitmek için yapılan seyahatleri ifade ederken, alternatif turizm ise yerli halkın yaşam tarzını, kültürünü ve doğal alanları tanıtmak için kullanılan seyahatleri ifade eder. Türkiye; tatil, sağlık, kongre, kültür, doğa turizmi gibi birçok farklı turizm türüne ev sahipliği yapmakta ve bu faaliyetler sayesinde dünya çapında, turizm açısından önemli bir konuma sahiptir. Turizmin başkenti olarak bilinen Antalya’nın mavi bayraklı plajlarının yanı sıra yeni keşfedilen ve keşfedilmeyi bekleyen birçok güzellikleri vardır. Son zamanlarda sağlık turizmi, kongre-fuar turizmi gibi alanlarda da turizm faaliyetleri başlamıştır. Bununla birlikte; mağara, ören yerleri, arkeolojik sit alanları, yayla turizmi ve kırsal turizm gibi bölge kültürünün yansıtılmasına yönelik turizm faaliyetleri de devam etmektedir. Geleneksel dokuma literatüründe yerini almış, ünlü Döşemealtı halıları, Türk Patent ve Marka Kurumu tarafından Antalya’nın 13. Coğrafi İşaret Tescilli ürünü olarak kayıt altına alınmıştır. Döşemealtı halılarının alternatif turizm kapsamında turizm faaliyetlerine dahil edilerek yerel ve kırsal kalkınmanın önü açılmış olacaktır. Yalnızca Döşemealtı’nda yapılan bu dokuma türü halihazırda devam etmekte olan kültürel bir değer olması sebebiyle, turizmin bir parçası olarak desteklenmesi gereken bir mirastır. Bu mirasın alternatif turizm kapsamında turizme kazandırılması gerekmektedir.

The development of religious tourism is used as an alternative to tourism development in the new normal era, including Kenderan Tourism Village. However, various technical problems still need to be solved in its operations and development efforts. This study aims to identify the potential and formulate a strategy for developing Pengelukatan Telaga Waja as a religious tourism attraction in Kenderan Tourism Village, Tegalalang, Gianyar. A type of qualitative descriptive research that identifies the potential and strategy of developing vehicle tourism villages as religious tourism by conducting observations and structured interviews on three informants selected by purposive sampling and meeting inclusion criteria. All results are interpreted using tourism area life cycle theory. As a result, the Pengelukatan Telaga Waja could be a religious tourism attraction in Kenderan Tourism Village, Gianyar District. The potential of the village with good natural resources and prioritizing elements of the sacred language, spirituality, and religion based on Balinese local wisdom makes Pengelukatan telaga waja favored by tourists. The results of the 4A analysis show that Pengelukatan Telaga Waja meets the attractive aspect (natural nuances that provide a sense of sacred mystique and still prioritize the religious side), amenities (there are facilities for post melukat meditation at Pancoran Solas), accessibility (road access to the Pengelukatan Telaga Waja site is quite good), and ancillary (the management of this Pengelukatan Telaga Waja place already has a management institution by Puri Figures). SWOT analysis shows that the Pengelukatan Telaga Waja meets all the criteria of a good SWOT as a religious tourism attraction in Kenderan Tourism Village, and improving the image of the area is the main development strategy.

Hitchhiking has a long history as a form of alternative tourism and has experienced significant transformations in recent years due to the overall digitalisation of travel and culture. Similarly to other forms of mobilities, it was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic and non-pharmaceutical interventions aiming to stop the disease. The paper first defines hitchhiking as a social phenomenon and outlines its history from global and Polish perspectives. Then, it discusses the current developments and possible futures of hitchhiking culture. It is based first on the outline of the location of hitchhiking in contemporary popular culture, particularly Internet culture, and second on in-depth interviews with five young yet experienced lifestyle hitchhikers, performed during strict pandemic restrictions. The interviews focus on three major topics: modern challenges in hitchhiking, ITC (information and communication technologies) use, and hitchhiking during the pandemic. The results indicate the evolution of hitchhiking as a social phenomenon, where the cultural heritage of alternative lifestyles intertwines with the increasing role of the Internet and mobile communication. In conclusion, we postulate further studies, including applying new methodological approaches and asking research questions regarding, e.g. the commodification of tourism, the importance of web reputation, and interactions between hitchhikers, residents and drivers.

From the postwar period onwards, media pluralisation, mass tourism and internationalisation have not only led to an increase in the marketing of Italy as a historical place of longing, but they also enhanced the auditory and visual construction of ‚Italy' as an object with numerous associations in everyday culture. This essay offers some preliminary thoughts on a series of case-studies that examine the multimedia imagining of ‚Italy' from the mid-20th century. The aim is to better understand the construction of the powerful myth of Italy in modernity, as well as the frequently associated phenomenon of internationally disseminated clichés with national connotations. Mexico's ethnic and cultural diversity attracts millions of tourists, representing an opportunity for stakeholders in the tourism sector. This research aimed to explore the challenges faced by women from indigenous peoples who create textile crafts as part of the cultural elements of alternative tourism. Using a case study method, this work investigated leaders' experiences from textile artisan groups belonging to the Tzeltal and Ch'ol ethnic groups. The findings reveal that producing textile crafts offers a source of income for women from these two ethnicities. However, a gap in knowledge about the history and meaning of Ch'ol embroidery exists, primarily because most producers are of Tzeltal origin, which hampers the dissemination of the textile's cultural attraction to visitors. One of the key elements of modern tourism is the alternative forms it offers. Festivals and festival tourism arouse great interest among many tourists, and as a result of their implementation, an increase in tourist traffic levels is reported. As part of the main tourism assets for a region, festivals are gaining momentum and have a significant impact on the economy of the localities where they are held. The International Lavender Festival is proof of the sustainable development of tourism, based on an agricultural activity characteristic of the region - lavender production. The PURPOSE of the present research is to show how a traditional livelihood of the local population supports the revival of activities that have the potential to create added value, social inclusion, entrepreneurship and limit the migration flow. The applied scientific METHODS are statistical, historical, comparative-descriptive, comprehensive assessment and regional analysis. Of greatest value is the conducted field research, which has been discussed in more detail in the discussion. The RESULTS confirm the research hypothesis that the natural and anthropogenic resources available in Bulgaria are a prerequisite for the development of alternative forms of tourism. The main CONCLUSIONS suggest that the attitudes of tourists towards this type of tourism are positive and this would help its sustainable regional development. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

With the COVID-19 pandemic-related travel restrictions, and staycations emerged as a popular alternative to holidays. This study investigated whether there are differential impacts on subjective well-being between staycations and holidays, and identified the factors that influence the acquisition of subjective well-being. The results showed no significant differences in subjective well-being between the two types of activities. Furthermore, the study identified distinct factors that influenced the subjective well-being of each group. These findings have important implications for promoting sustainable and local tourism, and in understanding the effects of spatial urban planning on well-being. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

E-tourism refers to the broader integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in the tourism sector and infrastructure. In this context, tourists can choose the travel destination, use price comparison sites and buy online tickets at low prices, while tourism entrepreneurs enhance their marketing strategies in response to the increasing demands of modern tourism Over the last few decades, alternative tourism has gained considerable interest among tourists and enterprises in the tourism industry. At the same time, it acts as an enabler and a facilitator of sustainable development. This paper presents an overview of the current situation of content characteristics of the websites of enterprises involved with alternative tourism services in Greece. The websites are evaluated according to 30 characteristics through multicriteria method. Furthermore, the final ranking of websites is presented to identify the most successful strategies, as well as the website that need improvements. According to the results, an e-tourism website model is suggested for the entrepreneurs to exploit the opportunities that arise in the digitalization transformation of the tourism industry. Nature-based tourism has been widely addressed, yet research on nature-based science tourism, founded on science, scientific knowledge, and/or engagement in scientific research, is still scarce. Drawing on tourist motivation, nature-based tourism, special interest tourism, and science tourism, a novel theoretical conceptualization of nature-based science tourism was developed. The framework identified three categories of science tourism with intensifying levels of tourists' interest in scientific knowledge and tourist engagement: tourism based on scientific knowledge, tourism with scientific adventure or volunteering, and scientific research tourism. In the empirical part, the framework was applied to Seili Island, Finland, and tourist motivation to nature-based science tourism was examined through a survey (n = 518). According to the results, tourists were interested in science and nature-based science tourism products, especially guided tours involving scientific interpretation, but also in intensive scientific excursions. Learning was a dominant motivation, but enjoying nature and escape and relaxation were also significant. When moving from guided tours to more intensive scientific excursions, motivations diversified; besides learning, other tourist motivations also need to be addressed in developing nature-based science tourism experiences. Bulgaria as a tourist destination is directly dependent on the European market of tourist services. In the last years of the 20th century, the structure of this market changed rapidly and significantly. The changes are primarily the result of the intensive processes of capital concentration and centralization in the tourism industry of the countries of the European Community. The tourism industry is one of the most profitable, and one of the most flexible, and it is normal for it to be constantly changing. In it there is a constant turnover of huge capitals, and the big tour operators are trying to organize these flows into a single streamlined system so that they can control them more easily. Advocacy for the responsible development of tourism continues to attract attention from scholars. The emergence of responsible tourism in the 1990s was a call to action, and for a move from setting agendas (sustainable tourism) to stakeholder accountability. As tourism is still developing in Nigeria, this paper discusses strategies for supporting responsible tourism development in the Southeastern region of the country. Semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions were organized with 166 stakeholders, including staff of tourism parastatals, traditional rulers, the representatives of men, women and youth and local security agencies. Findings identified possible strategies for determining if, when and how responsible tourism development might occur. These strategies include stakeholder empowerment, funding for tourism supporting facilities, boosting security and capacity for implementing tourism policies. Tourism consists of conventional and alternative activities that stimulate a country's economy and promote its culture. Traditional tourism involves entertainment and vacation travel, while alternative tourism emphasizes local lifestyle, culture, and natural areas. Turkey has many types of tourism, including vacation, health, congress, cultural, and natural tourism, which have given it a significant position in the worldwide tourism industry. Antalya, renowned as the tourist capital, has several recently found and yet to be discovered natural wonders, as well as blue flag beaches. Tourism activities have recently begun in sectors such as health tourism and congress-fair tourism. Furthermore, tourist activities targeted at representing the region's culture, such as caverns, ruins, archaeological sites, highland tourism, and rural tourism, continue. Döşemealtı carpets, well-known in traditional weaving literature, were recently registered as the 13th Geographical Indication Registered product of Antalya by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office. Incorporating these carpets into alternative tourism activities will promote local and rural development. This type of weaving, which is made only in Döşemealtı, is a heritage that should be supported as a part of tourism, as it is an ongoing cultural value. International Conference on Responsible Tourism and Hospitality (ICRTH) was planned by Sarawak Research Society (SRS) in 2019 with the aim to advance the discourse on responsible tourism for sustainable development. The first conference was held virtually in May 2021 and the second version was organised in Sarawak in September 2022 using a hybrid approach. It is a conference that brings governments, academics, researchers, industry players, associations, and communities together to harness partnership for a greater cause. Despite being a young conference, it receives some attention from the regional and international delegates, including officials from the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and Emerald Publishing. In particular, ICRTH2022 was purposefully designed to (1) involve local enterprises and support their business/products, (2) engage local communities and maximise travel benefits, (3) empower the youth and work with them, and (4) incorporate sustainable practices into the conference. This conference notes, however, also highlight some limitations or constraints in organising the conference for future consideration. The intention is to reflect on the shortcomings and evaluate what can be done better. The originally Sarawak homegrown ICRTH has now spread its network and partnership beyond its border to Southeast Asia and Asia Pacific. This paper deals with the tourism development of the East Region of the Republic of North Macedonia. The development of tourism is important for every region, especially in the economic aspect. Tourism empowers the local economy, creates new jobs, influences the regulation of infrastructure, etc. The East region with its geographical position, dynamic relief structure, suitable climate, water resources, high diversity and endemism of plants and animals, various anthropogenic motives, and others create a solid basis for the development of several types of tourism in this region, that can help to turn this region into an interesting tourist destination. The focus of the paper will be the natural tourist motives (mountains, valleys, lakes, rivers) and anthropogenic touristic motives (archaeological sites, museums, religious objects, manifestations) of this area, alternative forms of tourism that can be developed in this region based on its potential, the number of tourists in the period 2017-2022 and accommodation capacities in the East Region. The Lycian Way, with a length of 540 km, is the longest walking path detected in Turkey. Considering historically, it was formed by combining the ancient roads connecting the cities of the Lycian League. The purpose of this study is to reveal the alternative tourism potential of the Lycian Way in the framework of SWOT analysis. The alternative tourism potential of the Lycian Way has been disclosed via a case study, which is one of the qualitative research methods. The sample of the research consists of twelve sector representatives. Semi-structured interview forms were used in the research. The data obtained from the face-to-face interviews were analyzed with the "Content Analysis Method" in the NVivo 12 qualitative data editing program. Participant opinions were collected in four categories and 24 codes. The reliability coefficient of the codings was determined as 0.84. As a result of the internal environment analysis; the historical-cultural areas, natural heritage and rich vegetation of the region were determined as strengths; route uncertainty, labor and accommodation problem were determined as weaknesses. In the external environment analysis, inert buildings that can be used for touristic purposes due to migration and geographical inventory are seen as opportunities due to its position as an alternative tourism center.
