Aim: Tobacco and alcohol use among adolescents is an important issue that hasbeen frequently addressed in recent years. In this study we aimed to determinethe prevalence of tobacco and alcohol use among high school students and thefactors affecting the use of these substances.Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out with 1997students from three different high schools in the 2015–2016 academic year. Allof the students who volunteered were included in the study that was designed bycluster sampling method. The data were analyzed by mean, standard deviation,number and frequencies, chi-square and multiple polytomous logistic regression analyses.Results: The rate of the students who have smoked at least once in their liveswas found to be 35%, and the rate of those who were smoking almost every day20.1%. These rates for alcohol use were 18.7% and 1.8%, respectively. It was foundthat the rates of tobacco and alcohol use were statistically significantlyhigher in students from industrial vocational high schools, male students, 12thgrade students, students who perceived their academic success to be low, studentswho had received a disciplinary punishment, and those who were frequentlyabsent from school, had gotten into trouble with the police, had friends using tobacco,alcohol or another substance, or had undergone psychological treatment (p, Amaç: Ergenlerdesigara ve alkol kullanımı son yıllarda sıklıkla ele alınan önemli bir konudur.Bu çalışmanın amacı, lise öğrencileri arasında sigara ve alkol kullanmasıklığını ve bu maddeleri kullanmalarını etkileyen faktörleri belirlemektir.Gereç ve Yöntemler:Kesitseltipteki bu çalışma 2015–2016 öğretim yılında üç lisede öğrenim gören 1997 öğrenciile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Küme örnekleme yöntemi ile tasarlanan çalışmadagönüllü olan öğrencilerin tamamı çalışma kapsamına alındı. Verilere ortalama,standart sapma, sayı ve frekanslar, ki-kare, çoklu lojistik regresyon analizleriuygulandı. Bulgular: Yaşamboyu en az bir kez sigara kullanan öğrencilerin oranı %35, hemen her gün sigarakullananların oranı %20,1 olarak bulunmuştur. Alkol kullanımı için ise bu oranlarsırasıyla %18,7 ve %1,8’dir. Endüstri meslek lisesindeokuyan öğrencilerde, erkek öğrencilerde, 12. sınıftaki öğrencilerde, akademikbaşarısını düşük algılayanlarda, disiplin cezası alan, devamsızlık yapan,polisle başı derde giren, arkadaşı sigara, alkol ya da başka bir maddekullanan, ya da psikolojik tedavi almış olan öğrencilerde sigara ve alkolkullanma oranlarının istatistiksel olarak anlamı düzeyde daha yüksek olduğubelirlenmiştir (p
