Wound healing is a crucial biological process for tissue repair and regeneration, preventing infections and complications. There's been a growing interest in exploring sustainable wound healing strategies in recent years. This review examines the use of green-synthesized silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) in sustainable wound healing strategies. It highlights the need for innovative approaches and the challenges posed by infections. The current wound therapies and treatments, highlighting gaps in existing methodologies, are evaluated. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the current state-of-the-art in green synthesis techniques for the synthesis of AgNPs. The properties and characterization of AgNPs are elucidated, providing insights into their efficacy. The biocompatibility of AgNPs in wound healing is also explored, emphasizing safety in medical applications. Green synthesized AgNPs incorporated wound dressings are detailed, showcasing their potential in clinical settings. Challenges and future perspectives are discussed, addressing hurdles to widespread implementation. The conclusion consolidates key findings, offering a synthesized perspective on the potential of green-synthesized AgNPs in revolutionizing current knowledge on innovative approaches for sustainable wound healing practices. Cassia fistula L. is essential in various traditional medicine applications, ubiquitously silver nanoparticle (AgNP) synthesis using Cassia flower extracts. Notable results have reported the economic feasibility, biocompatibility, non-toxicity, and eco-friendly prospects from medicinal perspectives. The formation of AgNPs was validated through ultraviolet–visible absorbance of the surface resonance band at 408 nm. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy revealed the inherent phytochemicals that serve as reductants and stabilizers for AgNPs. X-ray powder diffraction spectra showed crystallinity with a face-centered cubic phase and strongly agreed with the JCPDS file 04–0783. The electron microscopic observations show spherical AgNPs with crystallite size at 50 to 100 nm and the elemental composition was revealed using EDAX analysis. Dynamic light scattering study showed a mean particle size of 58.77 nm and a surface potential zeta of − 24.0 mV, indicating their robustness and adaptability. The AgNPs quenched unstable cationic free radicals on DPPH (60.34%), ABTs (67.79%), and nitric oxide (64.15%), depending on concentration correlatedness. Staphylococcus aureus exhibited a considerable zone of inhibition (16.2 mm), followed by Escherichia coli (11.8 mm) at 250 µg/mL. The lowest MIC and MBC were exhibited against S. aureus, followed by E. coli. FE-SEM analysis revealed that AgNPs triggered structural pathological cellular damage in tested bacterial pathogens. Prominent cytotoxic effects (26.26 µg/mL) against breast carcinoma cells. Fluorescent labeling established apoptosis and necrosis patterns in the treated cells. AgNPs showed photocatalytic efficiency in degrading methylene blue (83.82%) and crystal violet (65.14%) dyes. Developing wound dressings with healing properties is a crucial requirement, especially in developing countries. In this research work, chitosan is extracted from Monomia gladiator crab shells for the first time to fabricate a novel wound dressing. The prepared chitosan (CS) is blended with silk sericin (SS), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) in three different ratios of PVA:CS:SS (100:0:0), PVA:CS:SS (80:10:10) – AgNPs, and PVA:CS:SS (50:25:25) – AgNPs to produce nanofibers. The developed nanofibers were analyzed under a scanning electron microscope (SEM), tensile testing, and antibacterial activity to study their fiber size, tensile strength, and bactericidal properties, respectively. The cell viability test against L929 cells demonstrates that the prepared wound dressing is noncytotoxic and facilitates cell proliferation. In vivo research on a full‐thickness excision wound model states that the incorporation of SS, CS, and AgNPs into the PVA introduces a novel multifunctional advancement in wound dressing, offering versatile benefits by promoting reepithelialization and collagen deposition. In the current research, monowave‐assisted biosynthesis of AgNPs utilising aqueous Pomegranate Juice extract (PJE) for antioxidant, antimicrobial and cytotoxic activities were evaluated. The synthetic approach used for the biosynthesis of AgNPs was simple, affordable and eco‐friendly. UV‐Visible, DLS, FTIR, XRD, FE‐SEM and HR‐TEM techniques were used to characterize the synthesized AgNPs. The DLS technique confirmed the monodispersed nature and zeta potential of −25.8 mV. FTIR technique revealed that OH functional groups of phytochemicals were crucial for the reduction and stabilization of AgNPs. FESEM and HRTEM techniques confirmed that biosynthesized AgNPs appeared spherical and triangular. XRD analysis resulted in 18.04 nm size of AgNPs. The antioxidant capacityof biosynthesized AgNPs was analysed via DPPH (IC50 35.20 μg/mL), ABTS (IC50 37.77 μg/mL), FRAP (4.37 mM Fe(II)/mL at 90 μg/mL) and total antioxidant (77.16 g AAE/mL at 90 μg/mL) assays. Biosynthesized AgNPs exhibited antifungal activity against Colletotrichum gloesporioides, Colletotrichum graminicola and antibacterial activity against Xanthomonas axonopodis, Klebsiella aerogenes at 50 μg/mL. Eight hydroxyl groups in (−)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) make it difficult to access the hydrophobic domain of bacterial cell membranes and display strong antibacterial activity at physiologically attainable concentrations. Herein, we strategically modified EGCG into an amphiphilic molecule that can surpass its limitations and transform it into a potent antibacterial agent. Seven EGCG alkyl ether derivatives (4″-Cn EGCG, n = 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18) have been designed, synthesized and assessed for their antibacterial efficacy and mode of action. 4″-C14 EGCG and 4″-C16 EGCG were found to be the most effective antibacterial compounds exhibiting >99% inhibition against Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis in the colony numbers at a concentration of as low as 1 μg/mL. They were able to induce intracellular ROS generation and disrupt the cell membrane integrity. Further, enhanced water solubility and antibacterial activity were achieved by synthesizing silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) of 4″-C14 EGCG and 4″-C16 EGCG. The AgNPs were characterized by UV–vis, FT-IR, TEM, and DLS. Compared to EGCG, 4″-C14 EGCG AgNPs exhibited a large reduction in the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) with significantly improved water-solubility. Notably, it could eliminate drug-resistant strains such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (>99% at 100 μg/mL), Acinetobacter baumannii (>99% at 10 μg/mL) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (>99% at 50 μg/mL), indicating broad-spectrum antibacterial activity and high potential to combat antimicrobial resistance. Furthermore, 4″-C14 EGCG, 4″-C16 EGCG and their AgNPs showed strong inhibition of the biofilm formed by Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis. The MTT assay on 3T3-L1 mouse fibroblast cells revealed no significant cytotoxicity for 4″-C14 EGCG, 4″-C16 EGCG or their AgNPs up to 150 μg/mL, indicating their selectivity toward bacterial cells. Taken together, this work demonstrates the rational development of amphiphilic EGCG derivatives and their AgNPs that exhibit broad-spectrum antibacterial and antibiofilm activity via multimodal mechanisms. The green synthesis of AgNPs from the calli extract of Centella asiatica was confirmed by the detailed analysis of UV–Vis spectroscopy, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) which revealed the size, shape, chemical composition and functional groups involved in the AgNPs formation. The in-vitro raised cowpea plants were given root dip treatment in Murashige and Skoog (MS) suspension medium supplemented with LC 50 - 75 mg/mL AgNPs followed by their transfer to glass house conditions for acclimatization. To evaluate the efficiency of root dip treatment, the acclimatized plants were inoculated with 2000 J2s of M. arenaria and the plants were observed on weekly basis. A differential growth response was observed from the cowpea plants under glass house conditions. A treatment plan designed showed that P4 plants showed a significant defense response against the biotic stress of M. arenaria as indicated by the percentage response of several growth parameters such as- plant height of 49.22 ± 0.89 %, plant fresh mass of 46.12 ± 0.83 %, plant dry mass of 9.3 ± 0.17 % and nodule number of 38 ± 0.68 % were reported in P4 plants after 6 weeks of J2s inoculation. Confocal microscopy of root sections of P3 cowpea plants revealed the presence of M. arenaria J2s in the cortical and provascular regions, however, in case of P4 plants an intact cellular structure was maintained. Green silver nanoparticle-based spectrophotometric and spectrofluorimetric measurements for tioguanine (TG) determination are reported in this study as a reliable, non-toxic approach with a sensitive and effective green assembly. TG is an anti-cancer medication used to treat leukemia. Chemical-based method development for its analysis purpose may have a dangerous effect on the environment. Cleaner, more affordable methods have received a lot of attention lately. By using Box–Behnken design under a response surface approach, the factors essential for the synthesis of green silver nanoparticles were optimized. For the two approaches, experimental optimization resulted in linear dynamic ranges of 55–220 and 65–200 nM, respectively. The technique was sensitive enough to detect and quantify TG at concentrations of 6.6 and 12.4 nM, respectively. The devised method is validated by satisfactory findings for the statistical treatment of the analytical data in accordance with the ICH requirements. Green nanoparticle formation was supported by X-ray diffraction analysis, scanning electron microscopy, and infrared spectroscopy analysis. When the developed nanosensors were used with the formulations, the relative standard deviation achieved was less than 2%. The vast use of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) in rapidly growing number of biomedical applications and sensing has given the importance of different synthetic methods for the preparation of AgNPs. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) have gained significant attention in various applications due to their unique properties that differ from bulk or macro-sized counterparts. The aim of this study was to employ an agro-industrial byproduct, specifically Citrus sinensis peels, as a reservoir of polyphenols. The natural chemicals present in C. sinensis peels serve as reducing agents in an environmentally benign method for synthesizing silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). This methodology not only provides a more environmentally friendly method for synthesizing nanoparticles but also enhances the value of agricultural waste, emphasizing the sustainable utilization of resources. In our study, AgNPs were successfully synthesized using peel aqueous exact of C. sinensis and then their various biological activity has been investigated. The synthesized AgNPs were characterized by UV–vis spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering (DLS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis. Furthermore, their effectiveness in inhibiting growth and biofilm formation of Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Candida albicans has been investigated. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) for E. coli and S. aureus were both 32 μg/mL, and for C. albicans, it was 128 µg/mL. At 250 µg/mL of AgNPs, 94% and 92% biofilm inhibition were observed against E. coli and S. aureus, respectively. Furthermore, AgNPs demonstrated significant toxic effects against human prostate cancer cell line DU145 as investigated by anti-apoptotic, 4′,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI), reactive oxygen species (ROS), and acridine orange/ethidium bromide (AO/EtBr) assays. We also conducted uptake analysis on these pathogens and cancer cell lines to preliminarily investigate the mechanisms underlying their toxic effects. These findings confirm that AgNPs can serve as a cost-effective, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly resource for green synthesis of medicinal AgNPs. Developing wound dressings from natural bioresources with high antibacterial properties and low drug resistance is highly desirable. In this study, bio-based films incorporated with Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs) were fabricated via a green and facile route. Firstly, AgNPs were obtained by reduction of AgNO3 with lignin nanoparticles (LNPs). Then the dialdehyde cellulose nanofibers (DACNFs) were prepared by periodate oxidation of cellulose nanofibrils, and mixed with LNP-Ag to fabricate composite films (DACNF-LNP-Ag). It was found that the higher the concentration of AgNO3, the smaller size and larger quantities of AgNPs. The incorporation of LNP-Ag endowed the composite films with high UV blocking and antioxidant properties. The tensile strength of the composite film with 2% LNP-Ag increased significantly from 44.5 MPa to 62.6 MPa. After 1-h immersion in water, the wet tensile strength of the composite films decreased to 18.5–27.5 MPa, but much higher than that of wet CNF film. The incorporation of LNP-Ag resulted in a decrease in water adsorption of the composite films while exhibiting insignificant influence on water contact angle (WCA) and water transmission rate (WVTR). The survival rate of L929 cells was more than 90% after been co-cultured with leachate of the composite films for 24 h, indicating their good biocompatibility. The composite films demonstrated high BSA adsorption and antibacterial activities against E. coli and S. aureus. Plasmonic metal–organic frameworks (plasmonic‐MOFs) ingeniously meld the homogeneous and vast porosity of MOFs with the distinctive plasmonic characteristics of metallic nanoparticles (NPs), creating a powerful synergy. This innovative combination is leveraged for enhanced plasmon‐induced hot‐electron photocatalysis, particularly within polystyrene beads adorned with silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and encapsulated by zeolitic imidazolate framework‐8 (ZIF‐8). The strategic incorporation of AgNPs into this composite material generates hot carriers, significantly enhancing the catalytic performance of ZIF‐8. The effect of Al3+ ions in the AlF 3 compound on the reduction process of Yb3+ to Yb2+ ions in SiO 2 –AlF 3 –BaF 2 –TiO 2 –LaF 3 (SABTL) transparent silicate glass-ceramics was investigated. The valence states of the elements in the raw materials mixture existing in the transparent silicate glass-ceramics were determined using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) spectrum analysis. The transparent silicate glass-ceramics SABTL containing Ba 2 LaF 7 nanocrystals and Silver (Ag) nanoparticles (AgNPs) were identified through X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) image. With the increase of Al3+ ions molar concentration, the self-reduction process of Yb3+ to Yb2+ ions was enhanced and thus significantly affected the optical bandgaps and upconversion (UC)-, near-infrared (NIR)- emissions of Nd3+/Yb3+ co-doped in SABTL containing Ba 2 LaF 7 nanocrystals and AgNPs under excitation of 980 nm laser diode (LD). The optimal molar concentration ratio between SiO 2 and AlF 3 compound was determined such that the NIR bandwidth flatness of Nd3+/Yb3+ co-doped in SABTL containing Ba 2 LaF 7 nanocrystals in the wavelength range of 1000–1200 nm was the flattest. In addition, the CIE 1931 (x, y) color coordinates for UC- and visible (VIS)- emissions of Nd3+/Yb3+ co-doped SABTL-0.5Nd2Yb-xAg (x = 0, 2, 3, 4, and 5) glass-ceramics samples are also calculated and determined the color region for light-emitting diode (LED) application. In this work, silver nanoparticles were in situ synthesized inside of the mesopores of SBA-15 type silica. The new strategy of synthesis was planned to obtain highly dispersed nanoparticles, strongly adhered to the matrix and maintaining the textural characteristics of the SBA-15. In order to attain this purpose, an ionic silsesquioxane was used to anchor an anionic complex that acts as a silver source for the nanoparticle synthesis. The material was characterized by X-ray diffraction, UV–Visible spectroscopy, N2 adsorption–desorption isotherms, thermogravimetric analysis, and transmission electron microscopy. The textural, morphological, structural, and chemical characteristics of the material allowed its use as a matrix to prepare a modified carbon paste electrode. The electrode was applied in the amoxicillin determination showing excellent performance. The prepared sensor presents sensitivity of 0.056 µA µmol L−1, low limit of detection of 0.35 µmol L−1, limit of quantification of 1.17 µmol L−1, and good reproducibility (6.1% relative standard deviation) for five different electrodes and good repeatability (3.9% relative standard deviation) for five successive measurements for the same electrode. The sensor shows high selectivity considering several organic compounds and inorganic salts as interfering agents. Additionally, the sensor presents excellent recovery in determination of commercial pills (98.6–102.4%) and whole cow milk (102.7%). Traditional methods of pest control are not able to prevent crop damage due to devastating pests. Therefore, through nanobiotechnology nano-bio pesticides and conjugated nanoparticles are produced as a pest control agent. The present work focused on the synthesis, characterization of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using Ocimum tenuiflorum leave extract and its larvicidal activity against Helicoverpa armigera. AgNPs were characterized by UV–Vis spectral analysis, indicated an absorbance of 4.695 at 560 nm. Moreover, Scanning Electron Microscope and X-ray Powder Diffraction showed that particles were spherical, ranging from 10 nm to 65 nm. The larvae of H. armigera were provided with an artificial diet with AgNPs coating of 0.25%, 0.5%, 0.75%, and 100% pure concentration. After 24 h, a dose response relationship in mortality was found maximum in pure AgNPs treated group, 83.33% and 75% in 0.75% treated group and 0.5% treated group, respectively. While the least mortality of 50% was observed in the 0.25%, AgNPs treated group. The LC50 calculated was 20.33 µL for AgNPs. It can be concluded that silver-nanoparticles possess a larvicidal effect. In-situ synthesis of a ternary nanocomposite based on Ag-Fe3O4/rGO by utilizing Azadirachta indica leaf extract as a reducing agent has been carried out. The morphological, EDX, and structural analyses confirm the reduction of GO into rGO by forming crystalline Fe3O4 and Ag nanoparticles in the rGO matrix, with a crystalline size of 25.77 nm. Further, the FTIR, UV-Vis, and BET analyses confirmed the effective interaction between Fe3O4 and Ag nanoparticles in the rGO matrix, tunable bandgap, and a higher specific surface area. Various electrochemical techniques such as cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic charge-discharge, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy have been performed in a 2 M KOH electrolyte to investigate its electrochemical performance. The synthesized ternary nanocomposite exhibits a specific capacitance of 493 Fg−1 at a current density of 1 Ag−1, with notable capacitive retention of 91.5% even after 10,000 cycles. This nontoxic technique provides a substitute pathway for the formation of graphene-based ternary nanocomposites with exceptional structural, morphological, optical, surface, and electrochemical properties. The ternary nanocomposite synthesized through this procedure displays an outstanding specific capacitance, cyclic stability, and corrosion resistance and hence the possibility of using nanocomposite as a promising electrode material can be explored for energy storage devices. The green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) can be developed using safe and environmentally friendly routes, can replace potentially toxic chemical methods, and can increase the scale of production. This study aimed to synthesize AgNPs from aqueous extracts of guarana (Paullinia cupana) leaves and flowers, collected in different seasons of the year, as a source of active biomolecules capable of reducing silver ions (Ag+) and promoting the stabilization of colloidal silver (Ag0). The plant aqueous extracts were characterized regarding their metabolic composition by liquid chromatography coupled to high-resolution mass spectrometry (UHPLC-HRMS/MS), phenolic compound content, and antioxidant potential against free radicals. The synthesized AgNPs were characterized by UV/Vis spectrophotometry, dynamic light scattering (DLS), nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and scanning electron microscopy coupled to energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDX). The results demonstrated that the chemical characterization indicated the presence of secondary metabolites of many classes of compounds in the studied aqueous extracts studied, but alkaloids and flavonoids were predominant, which are widely recognized for their antioxidant capabilities. It was possible to notice subtle changes in the properties of the nanostructures depending on parameters such as seasonality and the part of the plant used, with the AgNPs showing surface plasmon resonance bands between 410 and 420 nm using the leaf extract and between 440 and 460 nm when prepared using the flower extract. Overall, the average hydrodynamic diameters of the AgNPs were similar among the samples (61.98 to 101.6 nm). Polydispersity index remained in the range of 0.2 to 0.4, indicating that colloidal stability did not change with storage time. Zeta potential was above −30 mV after one month of analysis, which is adequate for biological applications. TEM images showed AgNPs with diameters between 40.72 to 48.85 nm and particles of different morphologies. EDX indicated silver content by weight between 24.06 and 28.81%. The synthesized AgNPs exhibited antimicrobial efficacy against various pathogenic microorganisms of clinical and environmental interest, with MIC values between 2.12 and 21.25 µg/mL, which is close to those described for MBC values. Simple Summary: Citrus production worldwide is threatened by the bacterium Liberibacter spp. Fagen and its vector Diaphorina citri Kuwayama. In the absence of an effective method against the bacteria, management plans are directed towards the vector. However, management strategies such as chemical control have presented difficulties in controlling the insect. Therefore, the application of new control techniques, such as nanoparticles by green synthesis, emerges as a promising control alternative. To address this issue, the objective of this study was to evaluate silver nanoparticles by green synthesis against D. citri nymphs in the laboratory and greenhouse. The results show that the nanoparticles achieved up to 100% mortality in the laboratory and 80% in the greenhouse. These results demonstrate the effectiveness of silver nanoparticles as a potential control method for the insect. Diaphorina citri Kuwayama (Hemiptera: Liviidae) is a vector of Liberibacter asiaticus Jagoueix et al. and Liberibacter americanus Teixeira et al., causal agents of the critical yellow dragon disease or Huanglongbing (HLB), which affects citrus production worldwide. Recently, green synthetic nanoparticles have emerged as a potential alternative to control of agricultural insect pests. The insecticide effect of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) on 2nd instar nymphs of D. citri under laboratory and greenhouse conditions was evaluated. Mortality was recorded 24, 48, and 72 h after application on D. citri nymphs under both laboratory and greenhouse conditions. The laboratory results showed that AgNPs caused 97.84 and 100% mortality at 32 and 64 ppm, respectively, 72 h after treatment. In the greenhouse, AgNPs caused 78.69 and 80.14% mortality using 64 and 128 ppm 72 h after application. The emergence of the global problem of multi-drug resistant bacteria (MDR) is closely related to the improper use of antibiotics, which gives birth to an urgent need for antimicrobial innovation in the medical and health field. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) show significant antibacterial potential because of their unique physical and chemical properties. By accurately regulating the morphology, size and surface properties of AgNPs, the antibacterial properties of AgNPs can be effectively enhanced and become a next generation antibacterial material with great development potential.The detection of the inhibitory effect of AgNPs on MDR provides more possibilities for the research and development of new antimicrobial agents.Promote the formation of AgNPs by redox reaction; determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of AgNPs to bacteria by broth microdilution method; evaluate the killing efficacy of AgNPs against multi-drug-resistant bacteria by plate counting; evaluate the inhibitory effect of AgNPs on biofilm construction by crystal violet staining; study the drug resistance of bacteria by gradually increasing the concentration of AgNPs; and detect the toxicity of AgNPs to cells by CCK-8 method.AgNPs has a significant bactericidal effect on a variety of drug-resistant bacteria. After exposure to AgNPs solution for 12 hours, the number of E. coli decreased sharply, and S. aureus was basically eliminated after 16 hours. In particular, AgNPs showed stronger inhibition against Gram-negative bacteria. In addition, AgNPs can effectively hinder the formation of bacterial biofilm, and its inhibitory effect increases with the increase of AgNPs solution concentration. When AgNPs is used for a long time, the development of bacterial resistance to it is slow. From the point of view of safety, AgNPs has no harmful effects on organisms and has biosafety.AgNPs can inhibit MDR, and the bacteriostatic ability of Gram-negative bacteria is higher than that of Gram-positive bacteria. The green route of transition metal nanoparticle (NPs) synthesis by the single-step method has more attraction for multifunctional applications. The study aimed to demonstrate the use of Pandanuscanaranus leaf extract, as an apposite substrate for the bio-synthesis of silver (Ag) NPs and Gold (Au) NPs. The UV–Vis spectrum of AgNPs and AuNPs showed an absorption peak at 450 and 520 nm, respectively. FT-IR revealed the respective functional groups (carboxylic acids and phenols) involved in the reduction of Ag + and Au + ions to nanoparticles. The XRD findings confirmed the crystalline nature of Ag and AuNPs with face-centered cubic structures, respectively. SEM images showed spherical and agglomerated morphology. Furthermore, EDX results confirmed the presence of Ag and Au metals. HRTEM images determined the sizes of AgNPs (6.33 to 24.43 nm) and AuNPs (37.44 nm) with spherical morphology. High hatching efficiency and less mortality of Artemia salina nauplii were observed in the treatment of AuNPs (93% and 26%) than AgNPs (91 and 55%). As the concentration of AgNPs and AuNPs increased, the findings of cell viability reduced (36 and 50%) in the lung cancer cells (A549 cells), respectively. The early and late apoptosis induced by the NPs in A549 cells were evidenced through AO/EtBr staining. To sum up, the PCLE-mediated NPs synthesis was very rapid and they significantly induced the apoptosis in A549 cells. Trichinella spiralis infection is a food‐borne zoonotic disease caused by nematodes that dwell in the tissues, presenting a significant public health concern. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of different treatments including silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), myrrh biosynthesized AgNPs "AgNPs synthesized using plant‐based green technologies", myrrh extract, and myrrh essential oil, as alternative treatments against T. spiralis infection. Parasitological, histopathological, and cytotoxicity assessments were conducted to investigate the effects of various concentrations of these treatments in reducing the populations of adult worms and larvae during both the intestinal and muscular phases of T. spiralis‐infected mice. The results showed that the highest antihelminthic efficacy against the intestinal phase of T. spiralis was achieved by myrrh extract (86.66%), followed closely by AgNPs (84.96%) and myrrh AgNPs (82.51%) at higher concentrations (800 mg/kg for myrrh extract, 40 μg/mL for AgNPs, and 40 μg/mL for myrrh AgNPs). While the group treated with myrrh essential oil showed the lowest percentage of adult reduction (78.14%). However, all treatments demonstrated comparable effects in reducing the larvae population in the muscle phase. Histopathological examination of the tissues revealed compelling evidence of the effectiveness of AgNPs, particularly when prepared with myrrh. Additionally, a comprehensive assessment of the cytotoxicity of AgNPs indicated low toxicity levels. This study supports that AgNPs synthesized using plant‐based green technologies hold therapeutic potential for the treatment of T. spiralis infection. These findings present a promising avenue for the development of novel antiparasitic drugs that are both effective and safe. The expression levels of cardiac development-related genes were analyzed by qRT-PCR and Whole-mount in situ hybridization (WISH). In addition, Illumina high-throughput global transcriptome analysis was performed to explore the potential signaling pathway involved in the treatment of zebrafish embryos by AgNPs after 72 h.Results: We systematically investigated the cardiac developing toxicity of AgNPs on the embryos of zebrafish. The results demonstrated that 2 or 4 mg/L AgNPs exposure induces cardiac developmental malformations, such as the appearance of pericardial edema phenotype. In addition, after 72 h of exposure, the mRNA levels of cardiac development-related genes, such as myh7, myh6, tpm1, nppa, tbx5, tbx20, myl7 and cmlc1, were significantly lower in AgNPs-treated zebrafish embryos than in control zebrafish embryos. Moreover, RNA sequencing, KEGG (Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes) and Genomes and GSEA (gene set enrichment analysis) of the DEGs (differentially expressed genes) between the AgNPs-exposed and control groups indicated that the downregulated DEGs were mainly enriched in focal adhesion pathways. Further investigations demonstrated that the mRNA levels of focal adhesion pathway-related genes, such as igf1ra, shc3, grb2b, ptk2aa, akt1, itga4, parvaa, akt3b and vcla, were significantly decreased after AgNPs treatment in zebrafish.Conclusion: Thus, our findings illustrated that AgNPs could impair cardiac development by regulating the focal adhesion pathway in zebrafish.Keywords: AgNPs, focal adhesion, cardiac development, zebrafish

Wound healing is a crucial biological process for tissue repair and regeneration, preventing infections and complications. There's been a growing interest in exploring sustainable wound healing strategies in recent years. This review examines the use of green-synthesized silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) in sustainable wound healing strategies. It highlights the need for innovative approaches and the challenges posed by infections. The current wound therapies and treatments, highlighting gaps in existing methodologies, are evaluated. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the current state-of-the-art in green synthesis techniques for the synthesis of AgNPs. The properties and characterization of AgNPs are elucidated, providing insights into their efficacy. The biocompatibility of AgNPs in wound healing is also explored, emphasizing safety in medical applications. Green synthesized AgNPs incorporated wound dressings are detailed, showcasing their potential in clinical settings. Challenges and future perspectives are discussed, addressing hurdles to widespread implementation. The conclusion consolidates key findings, offering a synthesized perspective on the potential of green-synthesized AgNPs in revolutionizing current knowledge on innovative approaches for sustainable wound healing practices.

Abstract Fusarium oxysporum (Schl.) f.sp. melonis, which causes muskmelon wilt disease, is a destructive filamentous fungal pathogen, attracting more attention to the search for effective fungicides against this pathogen. In particular, Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) have strong antimicrobial properties and they are not easy to develop drug resistance, which provides new ideas for the prevention and control of muskmelon Fusarium wilt (MFW). This paper studied the effects of AgNPs on the growth and development of muskmelon, the control efficacy on Fusarium wilt of muskmelon and the antifungal mechanism of AgNPs to F. oxysporum. The results showed that AgNPs could inhibit the growth of F. oxysporum on the PDA and in the PDB medium at 100–200 mg/L and the low concentration of 25 mg/L AgNPs could promote the seed germination and growth of muskmelon seedlings and reduce the incidence of muskmelon Fusarium wilt. Further studies on the antifungal mechanism showed that AgNPs could impair the development, damage cell structure, and interrupt cellular metabolism pathways of this fungus. TEM observation revealed that AgNPs treatment led to damage to the cell wall and membrane and accumulation of vacuoles and vessels, causing the leakage of intracellular contents. AgNPs treatment significantly hampered the growth of mycelia in the PDB medium, even causing a decrease in biomass. Biochemical properties showed that AgNPs treatment stimulated the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in 6 h, subsequently producing malondialdehyde (MDA) and increasing protective enzyme activity. After 6 h, the protective enzyme activity decreased. These results indicated that AgNPs destroy the cell structure and affect the metabolisms, eventually leading to the death of fungus.

Background: Several nano formulations of silver nanoparticles with bioconjugates, herbal extracts and anti-cancerous drug coating have been vividly studied to target cancer. Despite of such extensive studies, AgNPs (silver nanoparticles) have not reached the stage of clinical use. Out of all possible reasons for this failure, the unexplored effect on Cancer Stem Cell (CSC) population and mechanism of action of AgNPs, are the most plausible ones and are worked upon in this study. Methods: AgNPs were synthesized by chemical reduction method using sodium citrate and characterized by UV, FTIR, XRD and electron microscopy. CSC population was isolated from Cal33 cell line by MACS technique. MTT assay, trypan blue exclusion assay, Annexin V and PI based apoptosis assay and cell cycle assay were performed. Results: The results showed that synthesized AgNPs have cytotoxic activity on all cancer cell lines tested with the IC50 value of a wide range (1.5–49.21 µg/ml for cell lines and 0.0643–0.1211 µg/ml for splenocytes and thymocytes). CSCs Cal33 showed higher resistance to AgNP treatment and arrest in G1/G0 phase upon cell cycle analysis. Conclusion: AgNPs as an anti-cancer agent although have great potential but is limited by its off-target effects on normal cells and less effective on cancer stem cells at lower concentrations.

Coating cotton fabrics with silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) will produce a multifunctional fabric. Additional functions such as antibacterial, antifungal, UV protector, sensor, and wound dressing can be improved by adding AgNPs to the cotton fabric. The functionalization can be performed by various techniques, such as pad-drying, dip-drying, or sonochemical, where the AgNPs were produced by phytosynthesis or utilizing plant extracts as a reducing agent, and this has been reported by many researchers in the past. This review systematically extracts and critically discusses the available published information on the functionalization of cotton fabrics with phytosynthesized-AgNPs from the Scopus database. Future challenges in fabricating multifunctional cotton with AgNPs were also discussed, including obtaining stable and permanent AgNPs immobilization on cotton fabric and developing additional or new functions.

Abstract Scientists know very little about the mechanisms underlying fish skin mucus, despite the fact that it is a component of the immune system. Fish skin mucus is an important component of defence against invasive infections. Recently, Fish skin and its mucus are gaining interest among immunologists. Characterization was done on the obtained silver nanoparticles Ag combined with Clarias gariepinus catfish epidermal mucus proteins (EMP-Ag-NPs) through UV–vis, FTIR, XRD, TEM, and SEM. Ag-NPs ranged in size from 4 to 20 nm, spherical in form and the angles were 38.10°, 44.20°, 64.40°, and 77.20°, Where wavelength change after formation of EMP-Ag-NPs as indicate of dark brown, the broad band recorded at wavelength at 391 nm. Additionally, the antimicrobial, antibiofilm and anticancer activities of EMP-Ag-NPs was assessed. The present results demonstrate high activity against unicellular fungi C. albicans, followed by E. faecalis. Antibiofilm results showed strong activity against both S. aureus and P. aeruginosa pathogens in a dose-dependent manner, without affecting planktonic cell growth. Also, cytotoxicity effect was investigated against normal cells (Vero), breast cancer cells (Mcf7) and hepatic carcinoma (HepG2) cell lines at concentrations (200–6.25 µg/mL) and current results showed highly anticancer effect of Ag-NPs at concentrations 100, 5 and 25 µg/mL exhibited rounding, shrinkage, deformation and granulation of Mcf7 and HepG2 with IC50 19.34 and 31.16 µg/mL respectively while Vero cells appeared rounded at concentration 50 µg/mL and normal shape at concentration 25, 12.5 and 6.25 µg/ml with IC50 35.85 µg/mL. This study evidence the potential efficacy of biologically generated Ag-NPs as a substitute medicinal agent against harmful microorganisms. Furthermore, it highlights their inhibitory effect on cancer cell lines.

The aim of the study was to synthesize silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) from Alpinia purpurata leaves and evaluate their cytotoxic, antimicrobial, antibiofilm, dye degradation, and larvicidal potentials. The synthesized AgNPs were characterized using ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, which confirmed AgNPs synthesis and revealed nanoparticle size (10 to 30 nm) and the presence of silver. Cytotoxicity tests showed IC50 values of 4.59 ± 0.6 µg/mL in A549 cells and 3.48 ± 0.4 µg/mL in PA1 cells, inducing apoptosis and DNA fragmentation. Flow cytometry revealed cell cycle arrest at G0-G1 phase. AgNPs exhibited significant antimicrobial activity, with maximum inhibition zones against K. pneumoniae (23 ± 2 mm) and F. oxysporum (17 ± 2 mm), and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values ranging from 12.5 ± 0.25 to 75 ± 2.5 µg/mL. They also reduced bacterial and fungal biomass and showed antibiofilm effects. Photocatalytic activity degraded methylene blue dye by 88.4 ± 1.4% in 60 minutes. Larvicidal activity resulted in 100% mortality of A. aegypti larvae after 48 hours exposure to AgNPs (10 mg/L), additionally reducing chemical oxygen demand (55.1 ± 2.1% to 63.8 ± 1.5%) and microbial load in wastewater (2.5 to 10 ppm).

BackgroundThe present study, plant extract to biosynthesize silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), is an environmentally benign way to lessen the use of dangerous chemicals. Aims and ObjectivesThe antibacterial effects of the green production of AgNPs by Lawsonia inermis extract were examined. Materials and MethodsUtilizing scanning, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, and infrared spectroscopy, researchers examined the physical and chemical characteristics of synthesized AgNPs. ResultsAg-NPs have the highest peak in visible light at 460 nm, according to UV-vis analysis. When silver nanocrystals were structurally characterized, peaks that matched Bragg’s diffractions were found, with average crystallite sizes ranging from 28 to 60 nm. Examining Ag-NPs’ antibacterial properties, it was shown that all microbes are extremely sensitive to these biologically produced Ag-NPs. ConclusionEscherichia coli, Salmonella typhi, Bacillus cereus, and Staphylococcus aureus were tested for the antimicrobial properties of AgNPs synthesized.

Recent advances in nanoscience and nanotechnology have revolutionized the medical field, particularly in the treatment and prevention of disease. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are considered one of the best supreme and most important nanomaterials with a variety of compulsive nanomaterial having diverse array of multifunctional bioapplications. The current study focuses on the green biosynthesis of AgNPs using polysaccharides extracted from Olea europaea leaves. The synthesized AgNPs were thoroughly analyzed and characterized using various spectroscopic and microscopic techniques including, UV-Vis spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction, Energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The absorption peak at 440 nm showed a high plasmon resonance band, confirming the formation of green AgNPs by the reduction of Ag+ ions to Ag0. FTIR analysis showed the appearance and extension of different functional groups. The results of EDX and SEM confirmed the synthesis of AgNPs with spherical shape, crystalline structure, and an average size of 64.42 nm. The biosynthesized AgNPs possessed improved antimicrobial activities, indicating the importance of biosynthesized NPs in the pharmaceutical industry. In addition, the biosynthesized AgNPs were biocompatible and exhibited anti-inflammatory activity (86.29%), almost similar to that of a standard drug (87.78%) at a concentration of 500 µL/mL. The polysaccharides obtained from O. europaea could be considered as effective reducing agent, leading to an environmentally friendly synthesis of stable and biologically important AgNPs with a wide range of applications.

In this study, nanocomposites of AgNPs encapsulated in carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS) with sulfobetaine methacrylate (SB) hydrogel (AgNPs/CMCS-SB) were synthesized. The UV-Vis spectra indicated the presence of AgNPs, with a broad peak at around 424 nm, while the AgNPs-loaded CMCS-SB nanocomposite exhibited absorption peaks at 445 nm. The size and dispersion of AgNPs varied with the concentration of the AgNO3 solution, affecting swelling rates: 148.37 ± 15.63%, 172.26 ± 18.14%, and 159.17 ± 16.59% for 1.0 mM, 3.0 mM, and 5.0 mM AgNPs/CMCS-SB, respectively. Additionally, water absorption capacity increased with AgNPs content, peaking at 11.04 ± 0.54% for the 3.0 mM AgNPs/CMCS-SB nanocomposite. Silver release from the nanocomposite was influenced by AgNO3 concentration, showing rapid initial release followed by a slower rate over time for the 3.0 mM AgNPs/CMCS-SB. XRD patterns affirmed the presence of AgNPs, showcasing characteristic peaks indicative of a face-centered cubic (fcc) structure. The FTIR spectra highlighted interactions between AgNPs and CMCS-SB, with noticeable shifts in characteristic bands. In addition, SEM and TEM images validated spherical AgNPs within the CMCS-SB hydrogel network, averaging approximately 70 and 30 nm in diameter, respectively. The nanocomposite exhibited significant antibacterial activity against S. aureus and E. coli, with inhibition rates of 98.9 ± 0.21% and 99.2 ± 0.14%, respectively, for the 3.0 mM AgNPs/CMCS-SB nanocomposite. Moreover, cytotoxicity assays showcased the efficacy of AgNPs/CMCS-SB against human colorectal cancer cells (HCT-116 cells), with the strongest cytotoxicity (61.7 ± 4.3%) at 100 μg/mL. These results suggest the synthesized AgNPs/CMCS-SB nanocomposites possess promising attributes for various biomedical applications, including antimicrobial and anticancer activities, positioning them as compelling candidates for further advancement in biomedicine. With the extensive utilization of nanotechnology, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are prevalent nanomaterials that may entail ecological risks by their potential translocation into plant systems. The present study investigated the physiological and molecular responses of basil seedlings (Ocimum basilicum) subjected to AgNPs or silver nitrate (AgNO3) for 7 days. The seedlings were treated with 0, 4, 10, or 40 mg/L of AgNO3 or AgNPs in Hoagland's solution. Both treatments resulted in significant accumulation of Ag in the roots and shoots, with higher levels in the roots of AgNO3-treated seedlings. AgNPs increased plant biomass at 4 mg/L, while AgNO3 decreased it at all concentrations. Both treatments reduced the total chlorophyll, carotenoids, and carbohydrates, with more pronounced effects in AgNO3-treated seedlings. Both treatments also induced oxidative stress, as indicated by increased levels of H2O2, malondialdehyde (MDA), and proline, and enhanced activity of antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), and ascorbate peroxidase (APX). However, these responses were more evident in AgNO3-treated seedlings, especially at higher concentrations. Quantitative real-time PCR analysis revealed that both treatments induced the upregulation of genes encoding oxidative stress tolerance-related enzymes, such as FSD1, MSD1, CSD1, CATa, CATb, APXa and APXb, in the basil seedling shoots. These results suggest that AgNPs are less toxic to basil plants than AgNO3 and that basil plants can activate physiological and molecular mechanisms to cope with Ag-induced oxidative stress. Today, the production and use of materials with nanometer diversity is increasing day by day due to the unique and fascinating features of these materials. Until now, various physical and chemical methods have been used for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), but the use of plants for the synthesis of AgNPs is very fast, simple, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly. In this research, the aqueous extract (AE) of Capparis plants was used for the biosynthesis of AgNPs. The color of the silver nitrate solution changed to reddish color after adding the extract. The Antimicrobial activity of AgNPs against Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumoniae, S. saprophyticus, Hafnia alvei, Acinetobacter. baumannii, Enterococcus faecalis, Proteus mirabilis, Serratia marcescens, Staphylococcus aureus bacteria were investigated by minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) using microdilution method. The amount of total phenol and flavonoids in the methanolic extract (ME) of capparis leaves was equal to 229.9-28.09 mg per gram of dry matter. The antioxidant properties of the ME of capparis were 85.18%. The greatest effect of the ME of the medicinal plant capparis was 0.2315 on the inactivity of E. coli and the greatest effect of green AgNPs synthesized from the AE of the medicinal plant Capparis with ELISA of 0.3740 was on the inactivity of S. mutanis. The maximum diameter of the inhibitor zone (MDIZ) was 5.5 mm due to the inactivity of H. alvi bacteria. The results of this research showed that the leaf extract of the Capparis spinosa f. inermis Knocheplant is capable of synthesizing AgNPs and the synthetic nanoparticles showed good antimicrobial activity against pathogenic strains in vitro. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) synthesized from propolis on the formation of Porphyromonas gingivalis biofilms. Material and Methods: AgNPs were synthesized from propolis, and their inhibitory effect on P. gingivalis biofilm formation was assessed. Different concentrations of AgNPs (0.1%, 0.3%, and 0.5%) were tested to determine the dose‐dependent antibacterial activity. Results: The results of this study indicated that AgNPs exhibited an inhibitory effect on P. gingivalis biofilm formation. The antibacterial activity of AgNPs was dose‐dependent, with concentrations of 0.1%, 0.3%, and 0.5% showing effectiveness. Notably, the concentration of 0.5% demonstrated the most significant anti‐biofilm formation activity. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that AgNPs synthesized from propolis have potential as an effective option for enhancing periodontal treatment outcomes. Diabetes is a life‐threatening disease that affects different parts of the body including the liver, kidney, and pancreas. The core root of diabetes is mainly linked to oxidative stress produced by reactive oxygen species (ROS). Berberis lyceum Royle (BLR) is the source of natural products. It comprises numerous bioactive compounds having antioxidant activities. In the current investigation, silver nanoparticles from BLR root extract were synthesized, characterized, and assessed for antidiabetic potential. UV spectrophotometry, Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infra‐red spectroscopy (FTIR), and x‐ray diffraction (XRD) were applied for the characterization of NPs. It was evident from the morphological studies that the synthesized NPs were spherical and the average size was 11.02 nm. Results revealed that BLR‐AgNPs showed higher radical scavenging activity as compared to BLR extract. Moreover, BLR‐AgNPs displayed superior in vivo and in vitro antidiabetic activity in comparison to BLR extract. Glucose level (116.5 ± 5.1 mg/dL), liver function test (ALAT: 54.038 ± 6.2 IU/L; ASAT: 104.42 ± 13.9 IU/L; ALP: 192.6 ± 2.4 IU/L; bilirubin: 1.434 ± 0.14 mg/dL; total protein: 5.14 ± 0.24 mg/dL), renal function test (urea: 39.6 ± 0.63 mg/dL; uric acid: 21.4 ± 0.94 mg/dL; creatinine: 0.798 ± 0.03 mg/dL; albumin: 4.14 ± 0.2 mg/dL), lipid profile level (cholesterol: 101.62 ± 3 mg/dL; triglyceride: 110.42 ± 7 mg/dL; HDL‐C: 29.7 ± 3 mg/dL; LDL‐C: 47.056 ± 1 mg/dL; VLDL‐C: 22.0 ± 1.3 mg/dL) and hematology (WBCs: 3.82 ± 0.24 103 /μL; RBCs: 4.78 ± 0.42 106 /μL; Hb: 12.6 ± 1.0 g/dL; Hematocrit: 39.4 ± 3.7%; MCV: 65.8 ± 3 fL; platelets: 312 ± 22.4; neutrophils: 34.8 ± 1.87; eosinophils: 3.08 ± 0.43; monocytes: 3.08 ± 0.28; lymphocytes: 75.6 ± 3.77) confirmed the significant antidiabetic potential of BLR‐AgNPs. Histopathological examination authenticated that BLR‐AgNPs caused a significant revival in the morphology of the liver, kidney, and pancreas. Hence, findings of the study suggested the BLR‐AgNPs as a potent antidiabetic agent and could be an appropriate nanomedicine to prevent diabetes in future. Infection is a serious risk in transplant surgery and should be carefully considered while developing biomaterials. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are gaining popularity due to their ability to enhance antibacterial capabilities against a wide range of bacterial types. This study sought to create two antibacterial bone regenerations by incorporating AgNPs into bovine bone particles (BBX) (Product 1) and a light cross-linked hydrogel GelMA (Product 2). Scanning electron microscopy was used to characterize the constructions. PrestoBlue™ was used to assess osteoblast and osteoclast metabolic activities on the creations. Optimized AgNP functionalized BBX and GelMA were tested in a rabbit cranial 6mm defect model to assess their regeneration ability. The presence of AgNPs appears to increase. In vitro, osteoblasts proliferated more than AgNP-free controls. It is found that a 100 jg dosage of AgNPs effectively suppresses bacteria while minimizing negative effects on bone cells. The rabbit model indicated that both BBX and GelMA hydrogels loaded with AgNPs were biocompatible, with no evidence of necrosis or inflammation. This work aims to analyze the influence of selected plants on the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). Six plants were chosen for the experiment, from which extracts were prepared: maclura fruit, spruce and ginkgo needles, green algae (Ch. kessleri), and mushrooms, namely Collybia nuda, and Macrolepiota procera. The composition of the extracts and colloids after preparation of the nanoparticles was analyzed using FTIR analysis. The composition of the extracts affected not only the rate of the synthesis but also the shape of the nanoparticles. TEM analysis confirmed the synthesis of mainly spherical nanoparticles (size range: 10–25 nm). However, triangular prisms and polyhedral nanoparticles synthesized by the extracts containing mainly flavonoids, terpenes, and phenols (the main compounds of resins) were also confirmed. EDS analysis was used to analyze the composition of the nanoparticles. It was proven that by choosing the right plant extract and using the appropriate technology with extract treatment, it is possible to prepare nanoparticles of different shapes. Scientists know very little about the mechanisms underlying fish skin mucus, despite the fact that it is a component of the immune system. Fish skin mucus is an important component of defence against invasive infections. Recently, Fish skin and its mucus are gaining interest among immunologists. Characterization was done on the obtained silver nanoparticles Ag combined with Clarias gariepinus catfish epidermal mucus proteins (EMP-Ag-NPs) through UV–vis, FTIR, XRD, TEM, and SEM. Ag-NPs ranged in size from 4 to 20 nm, spherical in form and the angles were 38.10°, 44.20°, 64.40°, and 77.20°, Where wavelength change after formation of EMP-Ag-NPs as indicate of dark brown, the broad band recorded at wavelength at 391 nm. Additionally, the antimicrobial, antibiofilm and anticancer activities of EMP-Ag-NPs was assessed. The present results demonstrate high activity against unicellular fungi C. albicans, followed by E. faecalis. Antibiofilm results showed strong activity against both S. aureus and P. aeruginosa pathogens in a dose-dependent manner, without affecting planktonic cell growth. Also, cytotoxicity effect was investigated against normal cells (Vero), breast cancer cells (Mcf7) and hepatic carcinoma (HepG2) cell lines at concentrations (200–6.25 µg/mL) and current results showed highly anticancer effect of Ag-NPs at concentrations 100, 5 and 25 µg/mL exhibited rounding, shrinkage, deformation and granulation of Mcf7 and HepG2 with IC50 19.34 and 31.16 µg/mL respectively while Vero cells appeared rounded at concentration 50 µg/mL and normal shape at concentration 25, 12.5 and 6.25 µg/ml with IC50 35.85 µg/mL. This study evidence the potential efficacy of biologically generated Ag-NPs as a substitute medicinal agent against harmful microorganisms. Plant‐based nanoparticles can be tuned through the frequency of light for efficient synthesis, structural properties, and antibacterial applications. This research assessed the effect of material type (callus and whole‐plant extract) and the interaction with a specific range of light wavelength on AgNP synthesis. All types of AgNPs were characterized by their size, shape, associated functional groups, and surface charge. Interestingly, the size of red light and callus‐based AgNPs (RC‐AgNPs) was smaller (6.32 nm) compared to 14.59 nm for Ultraviolet light and callus‐based AgNPs (UV‐C‐AgNPs). Zeta potential analysis showed that RC‐AgNPs had higher stability (−29.2 mV) compared to UV‐C‐AgNPs (−16.7 mV). Similarly, red light‐based AgNPs had higher Oxidation reduction potential in both whole‐plant‐based and callus‐based AgNPs, indicating a more oxidizing nature compared to those synthesized under UV light. This was confirmed by the lower total phenolic and flavonoid content associated with them and their lower antioxidant activity. The higher antibacterial activities and lower minimum inhibitory concentrations of red light‐based AgNPs against highly resistant pathogenic bacteria demonstrated the role of red light in enhancing antibacterial activity. These results indicate that AgNPs synthesized in red light and callus extract are more active compared to those synthesized under other wavelengths and/or in whole‐plant extracts. Several technologies are employed for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles, each synthesis technique has advantages and disadvantages, and the best technique relies on the application at hand, the required qualities of the nanoparticles, and the size of the product. But in this article green synthesis were followed. In this research, AgNPs were synthesized using Salvia Sclarea leaf extract in green synthetic routes. The synthesized nanoparticles were examined using UV–vis spectroscopy, powder XRD, SEM, and FT-IR. Here three different type of silver nanoparticles were biosynthesized, AgNPs-1, AgNPs-2, and AgNPs-3 (where composition of AgNO3 and extract were 6:1, 10:1 and 14:1 respectively). The catalytic ability of AgNPs 1–3 was determine in the reduction of nitro-compounds into corresponding amines, where AgNPs-2 was found efficient reductive catalyst. Moreover, antibacterial activities were checked against both gram-positive (Bacillus Suntilis) and gram-negative bacteria (Klebsiella pneumoniae). The research aimed to observe the influence of the storage conditions of silver colloidal solutions prepared by biological (green) and chemical methods on their long-term stability. Green methods for reducing and stabilizing silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) use natural substances. The rosemary leaf extract was used for AgNPs synthesis, and prepared nanoparticles were spherical (average size of 12 nm). In the chemical method, commercial chemicals (NaBH4, TSC, PVP, and H2O2) were used, and two colloids were prepared; the first contained spherical nanoparticles with an average size of 8 nm, and the second triangular prisms with an average size of 35 nm. The prepared colloids were stored under four conditions: at room temperature in the light and the dark, and at a temperature of 5 °C (refrigerator) in the light and the dark. The results confirmed the influence of storage conditions on the stability of nanoparticles. Colloids stored at 5 °C in the dark show the best stability. However, differences in stability dependent on the shape of nanoparticles prepared by chemical method were also observed; triangular nanoparticles showed the least stability. Recent advances in nanotechnology have offered novel ways to combat cancer. By utilizing the reducing capabilities of Lactobacillus acidophilus, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are synthesized. The anti-cancer properties of AgNPs have been demonstrated in previous studies against several cancer cell lines; it has been hypothesized that these compounds might inhibit AMPK/mTOR signalling and BCL-2 expression. Consequently, the current research used both in vitro and in silico approaches to study whether Lactobacillus acidophilus AgNPs could inhibit cell proliferation autophagy and promote apoptosis in HepG2 cells. The isolated strain was identified as Lactobacillus acidophilus strain RBIM based on 16 s rRNA gene analysis. Based on our research findings, it has been observed that this particular strain can generate increased quantities of AgNPs when subjected to optimal growing conditions. The presence of silanols, carboxylates, phosphonates, and siloxanes on the surface of AgNPs was confirmed using FTIR analysis. AgNPs were configured using UV–visible spectroscopy at 425 nm. In contrast, it was observed that apoptotic cells exhibited orange-coloured bodies due to cellular shrinkage and blebbing initiated by AgNP treatment, compared to non-apoptotic cells. It is worth mentioning that AgNPs exhibited remarkable selectivity in inducing cell death, specifically in HepG2 cells, unlike normal WI-38 cells. The half-maximum inhibitory concentration (IC50) values for HepG2 and WI-38 cells were 4.217 µg/ml and 154.1 µg/ml, respectively. AgNPs induce an upregulation in the synthesis of inflammation-associated cytokines, including (TNF-α and IL-33), within HepG2 cells. AgNPs co-treatment led to higher glutathione levels and activating pro-autophagic genes such as AMPK. Additionally, it resulted in the suppression of mTOR, MMP-9, BCL-2, and α-SMA gene expression. The docking experiments suggest that the binding of AgNPs to the active site of the AMPK enzyme leads to inhibiting its activity. The inhibition of AMPK ultimately results in the suppression of the mechanistic mTOR and triggers apoptosis in HepG2 cells. In conclusion, the results of our study indicate that the utilization of AgNPs may represent a viable strategy for the eradication of liver cancerous cells through the activation of apoptosis and the enhancement of immune system reactions. Objectives: Biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles using the fungus Aspergillus niger, isolated from the soil for the purpose of studying its ability to produce nanoparticles. Methods: Grown in a liquid fermentation medium in glass flasks for ten days. The biosynthesis process was detected by observing the color changes of the filtrate. The properties of silver nanoparticles were determined by UV-measurement. Use SEM to discover the size, shape and distribution of nanoparticles. The chemical groups responsible for the biosynthesis and encapsulation of nanoparticles were detected using FTIR for both the fungal biomass filtrate and the resulting particles, after turning them into powder. Silver nanoparticles produced from mushrooms using the Well-Diffusion-Method showed antibacterial activity against MDRbacteria for both Gram-positive and Gram-negative Bacteria, which are: (E. coli, K. Pneumonia, S. aureus, and P. aeruginosa), at two concentrations (50, 100). μg/ml) for AgNPs. Results: The biosynthesis was detected by observing the color changes of the filtrate from transparent to light yellow to dark brown. The properties of silver nanoparticles were determined by measurement (UV). Which showed absorbance values at wavelengths (450 nm). The results showed SEM The shape was spherical with dimensions ranging from (17.84-64.03) nanometers. The use of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) produced from sustainable resources to improve photovoltaic properties of dye-sensitized solar cells is gaining interest due to the growing demand for clean and green energy sources. In this study, leaf (HY) and flower (HC) extracts of Golden Grass (Helichrysum italicum) were used to produce AgNPs with a low cost and easy method. The enhancement in power conversion efficiency by adding AgNPs phthalocyanine produced from biomaterials was investigated. The formation of AgNPs is indicated by a strong surface plasmon resonance (SPR) at 441 nm for HY-AgNPs and 448 nm for HC-AgNPs. Spherical AgNPs were formed with an estimated diameter of 22.59 ± 0.71 nm for HY-AgNPs and 21.06 ± 0.95 nm for HC-AgNs, both with a face center cubic crystal structure. On the other hand, the zinc phthalocyanine complex designed for dye-sensitized solar cells was synthesized and characterized. At the same time, the aggregation and fluorescence properties of zinc phthalocyanine were investigated. The photovoltaic properties of the phthalocyanine compound used in the study were examined without and with silver nanoparticle additives. With this doping, the power conversion efficiency percentage increased from 2.32 to 3.41 for HY-AgNPs and from 2.32 to 2.92 for HC-AgNPs. Evaluation of the results reveals that the phthalocyanine compound gains more efficient photovoltaic properties with the doping of AgNPs for dye-sensitized solar cells. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Nanotechnology is rapidly growing with nanoparticles produced and utilized in a wide range of commercial products worldwide. Among the different types of nanomaterials produced, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) occupy a predominant position and they are used in electronics, clothing, food industry, cosmetics and medical devices. Nanosilver has also showed excellent performance in antibacterial application. Nowadays, the increasing use of AgNPs has put the evidence on their possible toxicity to the human health and the impact on the environment. This paper focus on adverse effects of AgNPs in adult of Danio rerio. Fishes exposed to increasing concentrations (8, 45, and 70µg/l) silver nanoparticles (AgNPs, 25nm in average diameter) and after treatment for 30 days, was quickly euthanized in MS-222. We have evaluated bioaccumulation of AgNPs using ICP-MS and analyzed histological changes, biomarkers of oxidative damage and gene expression in the gut, liver and gills tissues of AgNPs-treated zebrafish. The histological analysis showed lesions of secondary lamellae of the gills with different degrees of toxicity such as hyperplasia, lamellar fusion, subepithelial edema, and even in some cases telangiectasia. Huge necrosis of the intestinal villi was found in the gut. No lesion was detected in the liver. The analysis revealed a high expression of metallothioneins 1 (MTs 1) in animals exposed to AgNPs compared to the control group. The ICP-MS analysis shows that the amount of particles absorbed in all treated samples is almost the same. We can affirm that AgNPs toxicity linked more to their size and state of aggregation than to their concentrations. Silver nanoparticles can damage gills and gut because they are able to pass through the mucosal barrier thanks to their small size. Altaf et al. recently published in Materials, 2022; 15(11), 3826, about the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using the non-thermal plasma reduction of AgNO3 salt and performed statistical optimization for the reaction conditions, i.e., (A) the concentration of a stabilizing agent, mM (B) concentration of AgNO3 salt, mM and (C) the reaction time, mins. We would like to point out that their writing on the statistical analysis (Box–Behnken response surface methodology for predicting the size of the nanoparticles) is not complete and, therefore, cannot be independently checked by the readers. The problems found in their report are as follows: the hard-to-find actual value of the uncoded units; a dubious claim about the middle levels of variable B (salt concentration); inconsistency in using coded vs. uncoded units in the table vs. the regression equation; and three center points with identical conditions give a dissimilar prediction of results. Marine anti-fouling coatings represent an efficient approach to prevent and control the marine biofouling. However, a significant amount of antifouling agent is added to improve the static antifouling performance of the coatings, which leads to an issue whereby static antifouling performance conflicts with eco-friendly traits. Herein, this work reports an in situ reduction synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) within polymers to produce composite coatings, aiming to solve the aforementioned issue. Firstly, urushiol-based benzoxazine monomers were synthesized by the Mannich reaction, using an eco-friendly natural product urushiol and n-octylamine and paraformaldehyde as the reactants. Additionally, AgNPs were obtained through the employment of free radicals formed by phenolic hydroxyl groups in the urushiol-based benzoxazine monomers, achieved by the in situ reduction of silver nitrate in benzoxazine. Then, the urushiol-based benzoxazine/AgNPs composite coatings were prepared by the thermosetting method. AgNPs exhibit broad-spectrum and highly efficient antimicrobial properties, with a low risk to human health and a minimal environmental impact. The composite coating containing a small amount of AgNPs (≤1 wt%) exhibits effective inhibition against various types of bacteria and marine microalgae in static immersion, thereby displaying outstanding antifouling properties. This organic polymer and inorganic nanoparticle composite marine antifouling coating, with its simple preparation method and eco-friendliness, presents an effective solution to the conflict between static antifouling effectiveness and environmental sustainability in marine antifouling coatings.
