ObjectiveTo provide reliable basis for the coordinated development of health levels among Chinese residents， understand， the dietary structure and characteristics of Chinese residents was evaluated and analyzed through the dietary mineral intake status of adult men in China.MethodsAccording to the average daily intake of 12 types of dietary mineral elements per adult male in 20 provinces （autonomous regions， municipalities） of China， which was publicly released in the Fifth China Total Diet Study， the entropy weight method and TOPSIS comprehensive evaluation method were used to evaluate and analyze them.ResultsThe intake of dietary calcium and dietary zinc was significantly low， and the intake in various regions was below the recommended level. The average intake of dietary potassium， magnesium， and molybdenum basically met the recommended or appropriate intake level， while the intake of other mineral elements was generally high. Overall， the food sources of mineral elements in various regions of China were basically similar， with grains， vegetables， meat and beans as the main sources. The weight of the 12 mineral element indicators ranged from 0.048 to 0.127， with the highest degree of variation in dietary manganese indicators and the lowest degree of variation in dietary magnesium indicators. Overall， the comprehensive evaluation of dietary mineral intake levels in Hebei Province， Shanghai City and other regions was good， while the comprehensive evaluation of Jilin Province， Liaoning Province and other regions was poor.ConclusionThere are significant differences in the intake levels of dietary mineral elements among different regions， which are closely related to the dietary structure of local residents. Continuously adjusting the dietary structure of residents through diversified diets can help improve problems such as insufficient or excessive dietary mineral intake， and further enhance the health level of Chinese residents.

Smoking is widely acknowledged as a major contributor to the high prevalence of chronic diseases. It is, therefore, important to explore measures that could help reduce cigarette consumption, especially from a policy perspective. This study investigates the effects of the diagnoses of four major non-communicable chronic diseases (NCDs), namely, diabetes, hypertension, myocardial infarction and stroke, on Chinese adult males’ daily cigarette consumption. It also examines how the home environment, including family members’ NCD diagnoses and smoking behavior, may moderate these effects and explores whether the impacts of one’s own NCD diagnosis and home environment vary with one’s smoking intensity. Using longitudinal data from 5388 Chinese males aged 45–85 residing in 9 provinces, our zero-inflated Negative Binomial regression models yielded four findings. First, one’s own NCD diagnosis is associated with a 27.3% increase in the odds of smoking cessation compared to continuing smoking among Chinese adult males, but for those who continue to smoke, their own NCD diagnosis does not affect the number of daily cigarettes smoked. Second, the presence of family members who smoke increases the likelihood of Chinese adult males continuing to smoke and their smoking intensity, while family members’ NCD diagnosis has a minimal impact on one’s cigarette consumption. Third, neither family members’ smoking behavior nor their NCD diagnoses moderate the relationship between an individual’s own NCD diagnosis and their smoking habits. Finally, the impacts of one’s own NCD diagnosis and the home environment vary significantly between heavy and non-heavy smokers. While one’s NCD diagnosis significantly reduces cigarette consumption among non-heavy smokers, it has the opposite effect among heavy smokers. The home environment shows a marginally significant impact only among non-heavy smokers.

Six new species of Cryptochironomus Kieffer, 1918, C. absum Liu, sp. nov., C. beardi Liu, sp. nov., C. dentatus Liu, sp. nov., C. ferringtoni Liu, sp. nov., C. parallelus Liu, sp. nov. and C. taylorensis Liu, sp. nov., are described and illustrated based on adult males. The specimens were collected from various water systems in the United States and preserved by Dr. Leonard Charles Ferrington Jr. An updated key to adult males of all known Cryptochironomus species in the Nearctic region is also provided. Meckel's diverticulum is a common congenital gastrointestinal malformation affecting 2% of the general population. Most affected patients are asymptomatic, and excessive bleeding causing a significant drop in hemoglobin count is an uncommon complication of Meckel's diverticulum, especially in adult patients. Herein, we present an adult case of Meckel's diverticulum that nearly led to hemodynamic instability. Laparotomy and segmental small bowel resection were critical in treating the patient.

Introduction: Anemia is an important nutritional disorder with major public health importance. In India, anemia prevalence among adult males was 25.0% (NFHS-5, 2020-2021). Being rich in iron and other micronutrients camel milk might decrease the nutritional anemia prevalence. The objective was to determine the prevalence of anemia among adult male camel milk consumers (CMC) versus nonconsumers in rural Rajasthan. Materials and Methods: A community-based study was conducted among 30 CMC adult male. All the participants meeting the eligibility criteria were recruited. The same numbers of non-CMC (NCMC) adult males were recruited with respect to similar age, sex, and residence. After obtaining informed consent a semi-structured interview schedule containing sociodemographic, dietary characteristics were introduced to all participants in June 2013. The participants were assessed for their hemoglobin (Hb) level from fingertip capillary blood using the Cyanmet Hb method as suggested by Dacie and Lewis. The prevalence of anemia in each group was compared. Data were entered into Microsoft Excel version 2013 and analyzed in Stata version 13. Results: The prevalence of anemia was more (26.6%) among nonconsumers than CMCs (16.6%). There was a significant difference between these groups (P < 0.001). The mean (standard deviation) Hb (g/dL) level of the male in the CMC and NCMC categories was found to be 13.0 (0.99) and 12.22 (1.51) in adult males, respectively. This difference was statistically significant (P = 0.021). Conclusion: The prevalence of anemia among CMC adult males was lower than nonconsumers with relatively higher levels of Hb in the former group. Future studies are recommended for further inference. Background: A number of dermatoses affect the genitalia in a unique and distinct manner. Nonvenereal dermatoses may not be restricted to genitalia alone; it may affect other body sites and mucous membranes as well. Dermatoses involving genital areas are not necessarily sexually transmitted. Skin lesions of the genitalia may be physiological, venereal, or nonvenereal in origin. Studies on genital dermatoses of only nonvenereal and noninfectious origin among adults are not commonly documented in India. Objectives: The objectives of this study were to determine the clinical pattern and frequency of noninfectious nonvenereal genital dermatoses. Materials and Methods: A total of 261 patients with noninfectious nonvenereal genital dermatoses attending tertiary care hospital were enrolled from August 2019–July 2020. Cases of more than 18 years of age who had given informed valid consent were included in the study, whereas venereal or infectious dermatoses were excluded from this study. The diagnosis was established based on a detailed history, examination, biopsy, and relevant investigations. Data collection was done using predesigned pro forma, and analysis was perfomed using MS Excel. Results: Maximum participants were middle aged with a mean age of 43.38 ± 9.45 years. The most common nonvenereal genital dermatoses were vitiligo (23.37%), followed by physiological conditions (19%–92%), papulosquamous dermatosis (18.77%), lichen simplex chronicus (16.48%), premalignant conditions (6.51%), vesiculobullous conditions and benign conditions (4.98%) each, adverse cutaneous drug reactions (4.21%), and malignant conditions (0.77%). About 78.54% of participants had dermatosis over genitalia only. Focal vitiligo was the most common dermatosis involving only genitalia. Background: Tobacco use is a recognized risk factor for many chronic diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), hypertension, cardiovascular disease, atherosclerosis, diabetes, cancer and microbial infections (respiratory tract infections, bacterial meningitis), etc. Material and Methods: A community-based "One group" interventional study was conducted to see the effect of cognitive behavioural therapy in reducing tobacco usage and its dependency among all the adult males population aged 18 years and above residing in Palam area of Delhi. Data was collected using a semi-structured, self-designed interview schedule to collect information from study subjects. Fagerstrom and Modified Fagerstrom questionnaire was used to assess the subject's nicotine dependence status. Result: The total population study was 274 out of which 105 were tobacco users. Out of 105,2 did not give consent for cognitive behaviour therapy.A total of 103 study subjects were given cognitive behavioral therapy and then followed at 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months respectively, and analyzed for quitting at each follow-up. Study subjects who had quitted tobacco was 11 i.e. 10.6%. Change in Nicotine dependency was statistically significant. Objective: To explore the correlation between changes in the body fat ratio (BFR) and peripheral blood inflammatory markers according to smoking status in the adult Chinese male population. Methods: A total of 865 participants (aged 20–70 years) were included. All participants underwent a physical health examination at Xiguzhou Central Hospital between October 2015 and July 2016, including measurements of body mass index (BMI), BFR, white blood cell [WBC] count, and neutrophil–lymphocyte ratio [NLR]. Results: WBCs count and NLR were significantly higher in adult male smokers than in non-smokers (P = 0.00). According to the BFR stratification analysis, WBC count and NLR significantly increased in accordance with BFR (P = 0.00). Long-term complications of hypospadias surgery can lead to urethral diverticula, causing issues like stone formation, incomplete voiding, and infections. We present a case: a 45-year-old male, who underwent two-stage penile hypospadias repair at age three, now experiencing lower urinary obstruction symptoms. Urethroscopy revealed urethral stenosis and stone formation within the diverticulum. After successful stone removal without diverticulum excision, a urethrotomy was performed. Early stricture detection post-hypospadias repair, through routine calibration, is vital for efficient treatment. Urethral diverticulum with stone formation in adult males post-hypospadias surgery is rare. Efficient management typically involves stone removal and a simple urethrotomy, minimizing surgical interventions.

Objective: to evaluate the anesthetic effect among adult male patients with the single use of compound lidocaine cream in device-assisted circumcision, hoping to provide an anesthetic method for the simplification of the surgical process. Methods: Male adult patients undergoing device-assisted circumcision through prepuce local anesthesia using lidocaine cream in Xiangya Hospital of Central South University from December 2020 to August 2021 were selected. According to different age groups and different surgical procedures, the anesthetic effect of compound lidocaine cream was analyzed considering the aspects of anesthetic cost, anesthetic time, anesthetic duration, anesthetic effect, anesthetic side effects and anesthetic satisfaction. Results: In the study, 99.1% of 649 patients needed only 1 application of compound lidocaine cream to complete the operation. The time taken for anesthesia was short; the whole anesthesia process only required approximately 2–5 min. However, for patients with severe phimosis, the time to complete the anesthesia procedure was correspondingly longer. The pain degree caused by anesthesia was low, and the patients with a pain score of ≤3 points accounted for 96.7%. The anesthetic effect lasted for a sufficiently long period, and the time of algesia recovery from local anesthesia was almost 1 h after surgery. The anesthesia effect was sufficient, and patients with an intraoperative pain score of ≤3 accounted for 98.7%, which could meet the surgical requirements. There were few side effects of the anesthesia. The overwhelming majority of patients were pleased with the anesthesia, and 98.9% of patients had an anesthesia satisfaction score of ≥7. Conclusion: The compound lidocaine cream, as a local anesthetic, is safe and effective for most adult male device-assisted circumcisions. Objective:To develop a scale for the assessment of heterosexual Adult Males’ Intimate Partner Violence Attitude（MIPVAS）.Methods:Ten men were selected and open-ended interviewed for the development of initial version of MIPVAS.The first version was delivered to 559 men,for item analysis and exploratory factor analysis,and totally 373 of them who were in love relationship or marriage were assessed with the Conflict Tactics Scale,Shorter Version（CTS2 S） for criteria validity.Another 347 men were recruited for confirmatory factor analysis and internal consistency reliability analysis,and 51 of them were retested 4 weeks later for test-retest reliability analysis.All subjects were heterosexual adult males.Results:The final 23-item scale consisted of 4 factors,including physical violence attitude,psychological violence attitude,sexual violence attitude and controlling behavior attitude（factor loadings were from 0.51 to 0.91）,which explained 72.55% of the total variance.The 4-factor measurement model fitted the data well（RMSEA=0.07,CFI=0.92,TLI=0.91）.In addition,both the total and the 4 dimensions scores were positively associated with the total and the dimension scores of CTS2 S（ICC=0.29-0.55,Ps <0.001）.The Cronbach α and test-retest reliability（ICC） for the 4 subscales were also satisfactory,with the former ranging from 0.79-0.94,and the latter from 0.64 to 0.87.Conclusion:The 23-item Male’s Intimate Partner Violence Attitude Scale has good validity and reliability,and could be used to assess heterosexual adult men’s intimate partner violence attitude. Background: The organic composite of two phenolic neighbors [BPA] is Bisphenol A [BPA]. It is also commonly called propane 2,2 bis[4-hydroxyphenyl]. BPA is a voluminous industrial chemical used to manufacture epoxy resins and plastics. Aim of the work: Evaluation of the effect of oral Bisphenol A on the liver and kidney of adult male albino rats. Materials and Methods: Forty adult male albino rats [local strain] were divided into four groups [each 10 rats]. First is the control group, second is the low does BPA, third is moderate does BPA, and four is the high does BPA. The duration of exposure extended to 30 days. Then, blood samples have been collected for the measurement of serum aspartate aminotransferase [AST], serum alanine aminotransferase [ALT], blood urea, serum creatinine, superoxide dismutase [SOD], catalase, and glutathione. Also, hepatic and renal tissue samples were prepared for histopathological study. Results: Oral administration of BPA in a dose of 50, 100, and 150 Mg/kg/day for 30 days led to a significant increase in the blood levels of ALT, AST, urea, and creatinine associated with a significant reduction in the blood levels of superoxide dismutase, Glutathione peroxidase, and catalase. There were few vacuolations of hepatocytes and congested blood vessels of the liver that were associated with changes in the kidney [narrow cortex, dilated tubules, and hypercellular glomeruli]. Conclusion: Bisphenol A oral exposure for 30 consecutive days is associated with several changes in biochemical parameters that indicate liver and kidney injury.

Legume pod borer Maruca vitrata (F.) is the pantropical pest of increasing importance. The present study is focused on the biological and morphometric characterization of its developmental stages when reared on a semisynthetic diet under laboratory conditions. The results revealed that the duration of the developmental period (number of days) as: egg (2.4-3), larval (12.20-14.80), pupal (9-11) and adult stages (8-12). The morphometrics of the immature stages (egg, 1st to 5th instar larvae, prepupa, and pupa) were-0.65x 0.45, 1.27-16.36x 0.17-2.55, 12.64x 2.50, and 11.40x 2.67 mm, respectively. The mean head capsule widths of first to fifth instar larvae were in the range of 0.20-1.30 mm and followed the growth ratio of 1.44 as per Dyar's law. The adult male and female measured a mean body length 12.60± 0.06 and 13.40± 0.12 mm with the wing span of 9.65± 0.07and 10.40± 0.09 mm, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

An adult male Synorthocladius was collected in the middle basin of the Adige River in the city of Verona, northern Italy. A combination of atypical characters for the genus signalled a new species. Synorthocladius federicoi sp. nov. is here diagnosed and described. The new species is known only from its type locality and is presumed to be a local biogeographical representative of the Italian Pre-Alps. Stature is one of the most significant features of an individual, be it a male or female. Large and tall body size is often associated with social dominance. The complete height of an individual is attained at an age between the mid teen and the early twenties. However each population will have a separate linear equation based on the parameter chosen with regard to the stature. Hence proper analysis and the derivation of the formula for each population is required. This study aims to formulate the stature of young adults in the south indian population can be estimated using 8 different somatometric parameters. Our cross sectional study included the Chennai population of age ranging from 18-26. n=100 was obtained. The somatometrics measures were taken with the help of measuring tape and scales in cm. Data obtained was entered in the Microsoft Excel application and was then exported to SPSS for further statistical analysis, with the obtained data descriptive, frequency & linear regression tests were done. The age of the study population ranged from 18-26.The mean of the age was found to be 21.17 ± 1.891. Length of foot was found to be the most reliable with an 'r' value of 0.886 and the breadth of foot was the least with an r value of 0.057. In the obtained south indian male population,out of 8 parameters 7 were found to be reliable in the estimation of stature. The regression formulas were obtained and it is to be noted that these formulas are specific to this south indian region alone because of the morphology, genetic and geographic variation specific to this population. Objective: To determine changes in the sperm count in adult males with clinically palpable varicocele after varicocelectomy. Methodology: This quasi experimental research was performed in 174 adult male patients with clinically palpable varicoceles at the department of general surgery, Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) Peshawar from January 2016 to January 2017. Adult males with clinically palpable varicocele were selected with consecutive sampling. Inguinal varicocelectomy was performed by consultant surgeon after obtaining written informed consent. Sperm count was done before and after the procedure. Data was entered in SPSS version 20.0 and was analyzed using descriptive statistics. Paired t- test was applied to compare mean change in pre-operative and post-operative sperm count. Results: Mean age was 39 ± 10.37 years. Mean pre-operative sperm count was 15 ± 17.880 million, while mean post-op sperm count was 34 ± 13.149 million indicating change of 5 ± 9.95 million. The difference was statistically significant (p =0.0001). Conclusion: Sperm count in adult patients with clinically palpable varicocele increases after inguinal varicocelectomy. Background/Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the skin care behaviors of male adults for wellaging in an effort to improve their quality of life through various skin care behaviors in pursuit of healthy life and to seek ways of vitalizing the beauty industry for men from diverse angles. Method/Statistical Analysis: The collected data were analyzed by SPSS(statistical package for the social science) 23.0 version for Windows. To find out the adult men's degree of skin and beauty care for wellaging, χ²(chi-square) test, frequency analysis, one-way ANOVA and t-test were carried out. Findings: The largest number of the men possessed oily skin. As a result of analyzing their skin care for wellaging, many didn't apply face packs for wellaging, and the men who were unmarried and who spent average 200 thousand won or more on appearance management on a monthly basis applied face packs more often for wellaging than the other men. The men who were in their 30s, who were unmarried and whose monthly mean appearance management spending was larger massaged their faces or got massages more frequently for wellaging than the others. Although men are said to be interested as well in skin beauty along with social development, the findings of the study show that they weren't yet exposed a lot to skin care, and how to make skin care more accessible to them should be considered. Improvements/Applications: This study investigated the beauty care behaviors of the selected men for wellaging and is expected to be utilized as basic data on the vitalization of the beauty industry and the beauty market for men. An adult male sub-Antarctic fur seal, Arctocephalus tropicalis, on Inaccessible Island in the Tristan da Cunha archipelago (TdC), was observed infested with goose barnacles, likely Lepas australis. Although adult females have been recorded to carry goose barnacles, this is the first record from an adult male at a breeding island. Objective To provide clinical criteria with regional basis of the reference values of carbohydrateantigen 19-9 (CA19-9) in healthy Chinese male adults. Methods First, the reference values of CA19- 9 in 9,382 healthy male adults distributed in 64 cities and counties in China were collected to construct the database. Then geographical factors received dimensionality reduction by comprehensive application of the principal component analysis, variation coefficient method, and correlation analysis; then the classification regression tree model was constructed. Third, the hotspot and spatial distribution of the reference values of CA19-9 in healthy male adults was drawn based on 2,322 observation data points. Results The reference value of CA19-9 showed spatial variation, which was higher in the southern region than in the northern region, and higher in Jilin and Liaoning provinces than in the eastern central region. Hotspots were mostly distributed in the southern region, and cold spots in the northern region. Conclusion There exist spatial variation of the reference values of CA19-9 at spatial level. Randomized trials have shown that voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) significantly reduces HIV acquisition risk in men. We sought to identify subpopulations of Botswanan men with high levels of VMMC uptake by comparing an observational cohort of men presenting for circumcision services at two high-volume clinics in Botswana's capital city, Gabo-rone, with a matched, population-based random sample of uncircumcised men. Among these high uptake VMMC subpopulations, we then examined the immediate factors that play a role in men's decision to seek VMMC services. As compared to their population-based controls, men choosing to undergo circumcision were more likely to be ages 24–34, more highly educated, to have a religious affiliation, and in a serious relationship. Our results suggest that married men and highly educated men were more likely to pursue circumcision for personal hygiene reasons. Abstract Background The quadrivalent (q) human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine protects against infection and disease related to HPV types 6, 11, 16, and 18. We report efficacy, immunogenicity, and safety of qHPV vaccine in a Phase 3 study in Japanese men. Methods In this randomized, double-blind trial (NCT01862874), Japanese men (aged 16–26 years) were randomized in a 1:1 ratio to receive three doses of qHPV vaccine or placebo (Day 1, Month 2, Month 6). The primary efficacy endpoint was the combined incidence of HPV6/11/16/18-related persistent anogenital infection (detected at ≥2 consecutive visits ≥6 months apart), assessed in the per-protocol population of men who received all three vaccinations, and were seronegative at Day 1 and PCR negative from Day 1 to Month 7 to the relevant HPV type. Results are from the interim and final analyses. Results In total, 1124 participants were randomized. The vaccine demonstrated 83.3% (95% confidence interval: 24.9, 98.2; p = 0.007) and 85.9% (95% confidence interval: 52.7, 97.3; p < 0.001) efficacy against HPV6/11/16/18-related persistent infection in the interim and final analyses, respectively. Two cases of HPV6/11/16/18-related external genital lesions (condyloma and PIN 1) were observed in the placebo group and none in the qHPV vaccine group at study end. At Month 7, >97% of participants who received qHPV vaccine seroconverted to each of the vaccine HPV types. Most participants remained seropositive at Month 36, although the seropositivity rate declined between Months 7 and 36. Vaccination-related adverse events were reported in 60.8% and 56.5% of participants in the qHPV vaccine and placebo groups, respectively; most commonly mild to moderate injection-site pain, erythema, and swelling. Injection-site pain and swelling were more common with qHPV vaccine than placebo (each p < 0.05). Conclusions Results suggest qHPV vaccine is efficacious against HPV6/11/16/18-related persistent infections, immunogenic, and well-tolerated in Japanese men. Myxedema coma is a decompensated hypothyroidism which occurs due to long-standing, undiagnosed, or untreated hypothyroidism. Untreated hypothyroidism is known to affect almost all organs including the heart. It is associated with a decrease in cardiac output, stroke volume due to decreased myocardial contractility, and an increase in systemic vascular resistance. It can cause cardiac arrhythmias and the most commonly seen conduction abnormalities are sinus bradycardia, heart block, ventricular tachycardia, and torsade de pointes. The authors report a case of an elderly man who presented with sudden cardiac arrest and myxedema coma and who was successfully revived.

Rheocricotopus (Rheocricotopus) reduncusoides sp. n. is described from Bathurst Island, Nunavut, Canada. Its discovery was made while curating and examining specimens deposited by H. V. Danks in 1969 at the Canadian National Collection in Ottawa, Canada. We also report the first Canadian record of Parametriocnemus hamatus (Johannsen, 1934) from Québec, based on previously unsorted material deposited at the Canadian National Collection. In this paper we provide distributional records of the Nearctic species of Rheocricotopus Thienemann and Harnisch and Parametriocnemus Goetghebuer, and present a key to the Nearctic adult males of these genera.

Accessory breast tissue, associated with polymastia and polythelia, presents challenges and concerns, particularly when patients fear malignancy. While occurring in 1-6% of cases, accessory breasts, often located bilaterally in the axillae, necessitate careful examination. We report a 35-year-old male with painful axillary swelling who underwent high-resolution ultrasonography (HR-USG) and fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC), revealing proper axillary breast tissue. Subsequent excision biopsy confirmed accessory axillary breast without malignancy. Background: Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are stressful or traumatic events, including abuse and neglect. The long-term effects of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) occurring during childhood or adolescence; may lead to a wide range of physical and psychological health issues throughout a person's lifespan. Children with ACEs, develops poor relation skills and low self-esteem, which may increase the likelihood of interpersonal problems and physical aggression in adult life. The current study examined the correlation among adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), self-esteem, and aggressive behavior. Materials and Methods: The sample included 350 adult male clients, accused of physical aggression in forensic setting. All participants completed interviews, focusing on different types of maltreatment prior to age 18, using the modified standardized Adverse Childhood Experiences International Questioner (ACE-IQ) and self-esteem level by Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale. Results: The most commonly reported adverse experience was family dysfunction, mainly violence in the family that caused problems. Strong correlations were shown to exist between various ACEs and aggressive behavior. Negative correlation detected between self-esteem and all categories subjected for ACE except sexual abuse and community violence (P=0>.05). Conclusion: Much attention has been focused on adverse childhood experiences as risk factors for a spectrum of violence-related outcomes during adulthood. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
