In the title compound, [CuCl3(C6H16N3)]·H2O, the copper(II) ion is five-coordinated by two N atoms from the bidentate 4-(2-aminoethyl)piperazin-1-ium cation and three chloride ions in a distorted square-pyramidal environment. Intermolecular N—H...Cl and O—H...Cl hydrogen bonds build up an intricate three-dimensional network.

The distal radial approach (DRA) is suggested to have benefits over the conventional radial approach (CRA) in terms of local complications and comfort of both patient and operator. Therefore, we aimed to compare the feasibility and safety of DRA and CRA in a real life population. We conducted a prospective, observational multicentric trial, including all patients undergoing coronary procedures in September 2019. Patients with impalpable proximal or distal radial pulse were excluded. Thus, the choice of the approach is left to the operator discretion. The primary endpoints were cannulation failure and procedure failure. The secondary endpoints were time of puncture, local complications and radial occlusion assessed by Doppler performed one day after the procedure. We enrolled 177 patients divided into two groups: CRA (n = 95) and DRA (n = 82). Percutaneous intervention was achieved in 37% in CRA group and 34% in DRA group (p = 0.7). Cannulation time was not significantly different between the two sets (p = 0.16). Cannulation failure was significantly higher in DRA group (4.8% vs 2%, p < 0.0008). Successful catheterization was achieved in 98% for the CRA group and in 88% for the DRA group (p = 0.008). Radial artery occlusion, detected by ultrasonography, was found in 3 patients in the CRA group (3.1%) and nobody in the DRA group (p = 0.25). The median diameter of the radial artery diameter was higher in the DRA than the CRA group (2.2 mm vs 2.1 mm; p = 0.007). A novel semi-organic hybrid material, (CHN)HgCl⋅HgCl, was synthesized, and its structure was determined at room temperature in the non-centrosymmetric monoclinic space group P222 with the following parameters: a = 21.0921(7), b = 11.7288(4), c = 12.6801(5) Å, Z = 4. Its crystal structure was determined and refined down to R = 0.0549 and Rw = 0.1303. The examination of the structure shows a layer arrangement parallel to the b axis: the anionic layer may be considered as a succession of layers built up distorted triangular bipyramid [HgCl]. The crystal packing is governed by means of the ionic N-H...Cl hydrogen bonds, forming a three dimensional network. DSC measurement reveals a transition at T = 418 K and dielectric measurements were performed to discuss the mechanism of the phase transition. The title compound crystallizes in the space group P21/c with the following unit cell dimensions: a=7.885(2) Å, b=25.937(2) Å, c=11.059(5) Å, β=91.067(2)°, Z=4. The examination of the structure shows a layer arrangement perpendicular to the b axis: planes of β phenylethylammonium cations [C6H5(CH2)2NH3]2+ alternate with planes of [Cd0.75Hg0.25Br4]2- tetrahedra. The cohesion of the atomic arrangement is ensured by hydrogen bonding (N&z.sbnd;H…Br) and Van der Waals contacts. DSC and Raman spectroscopy measurements were carried out and reveals a transition at T=347 K. This transition display an order–disorder mechanism involving mainly conformational changes of the organic chain [C6H5(CH2)2NH3]2+ coupled with distortion of the (Cd/Hg)Br4 tetrahedra. The transitional behavior and the crystal dynamics will be discussed and compared with those found in the literature for homologous compounds. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

The title compound β-phenylethylammonium pentachlorothallate III crystallizes in the monoclinic system with space group P21. The unit cell dimensions are: a=9.5470(1) Å, b=7.5660(1) Å, c=15.9180(1) Å, β=101.3420°(9), with Z=4. Its crystal structure was determined and refined down to R=0.0402. The structure of this compound consists of β-phenylethylammonium cations and polynuclear anions in which slightly distorted [TlCl6]3- octahedral sharing two cis vertices are interconnected into chains. These chains are themselves interconnected by means of the N&z.sbnd;H…Cl hydrogen bonds. Two phase transitions at T1=353 K and T2=389 K were detected and studied by differential scanning calorimetry, dielectric and impedance spectroscopy measurements. The evolution of the dielectric constant and dissipation factor as a function of frequency and temperature revealed the first transition to be ferroelectric–paraelectric. Crystallographic studies show that this material presents a noncentrosymmetric space group at room temperature which is in agreement with our last deduction. The second phase transition at 389 K is characterized by a strong jump in the conductivity plot. It is assumed that the reorientation of NH3+ ions is responsible for this phase transition. The title compound crystallized in the space group Pnma with the following unit cell dimensions: a=8.5100(2), b=4.0580(4), c=18.1510(9) A˚, Z=4. Its crystal structure was determined and refined down to R=0.0288 and Rw=0.0732. The atomic arrangement of this structure may be considered as a succession of double layers built up from Hg/CdCl6 octahedra along the b axis connected by hydrogen and ionic bonds. DSC measurement reveals a transition at T=429 K. Spectroscopic and dielectric measurements were performed to discuss the mechanism of the phase transition. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
