Skin lesion segmentation is a crucial method for identifying early skin cancer. In recent years, both convolutional neural network (CNN) and Transformer-based methods have been widely applied. Moreover, combining CNN and Transformer effectively integrates global and local relationships, but remains limited by the quadratic complexity of Transformer. To address this, we propose a hybrid architecture based on Mamba and CNN, called SkinMamba. It maintains linear complexity while offering powerful long-range dependency modeling and local feature extraction capabilities. Specifically, we introduce the Scale Residual State Space Block (SRSSB), which captures global contextual relationships and cross-scale information exchange at a macro level, enabling expert communication in a global state. This effectively addresses challenges in skin lesion segmentation related to varying lesion sizes and inconspicuous target areas. Additionally, to mitigate boundary blurring and information loss during model downsampling, we introduce the Frequency Boundary Guided Module (FBGM), providing sufficient boundary priors to guide precise boundary segmentation, while also using the retained information to assist the decoder in the decoding process. Finally, we conducted comparative and ablation experiments on two public lesion segmentation datasets (ISIC2017 and ISIC2018), and the results demonstrate the strong competitiveness of SkinMamba in skin lesion segmentation tasks. In the field of medical microscopic image classification (MIC), CNN-based and Transformer-based models have been extensively studied. However, CNNs struggle with modeling long-range dependencies, limiting their ability to fully utilize semantic information in images. Conversely, Transformers are hampered by the complexity of quadratic computations. To address these challenges, we propose a model based on the Mamba architecture: Microscopic-Mamba. Specifically, we designed the Partially Selected Feed-Forward Network (PSFFN) to replace the last linear layer of the Visual State Space Module (VSSM), enhancing Mamba's local feature extraction capabilities. Additionally, we introduced the Modulation Interaction Feature Aggregation (MIFA) module to effectively modulate and dynamically aggregate global and local features. We also incorporated a parallel VSSM mechanism to improve inter-channel information interaction while reducing the number of parameters. Extensive experiments have demonstrated that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance on five public datasets. The switching and control of optical fields based on nonlinear optical effects are often limited to relatively weak nonlinear susceptibility and strong optical pump fields. Here, an optical medium with programmable susceptibility tensor based on polarizable atoms is proposed. Under a structured optical pump, the ground state population of atoms could be efficiently controlled by tuning the chirality and intensity of optical fields, and thus the optical response of the medium is programmable in both space and time. We demonstrate the potential of this approach by engineering the spatial distribution of the complex susceptibility tensor of the medium in photonic structures to realize nonreciprocal optical effects. Specifically, we investigate the advantages of chiral interaction between atoms and photons in an atom-cladded waveguide, theoretically showing that reconfigurable, strong, and fastly switchable isolation of optical signals in a selected optical mode is possible. We present the identification of changing-look active galactic nuclei (CL-AGNs) from the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument First Data Release and Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 16 at z \leq 0.9. To confirm the CL-AGNs, we utilize spectral flux calibration assessment via an [O\,{\sc iii}]-based calibration, pseudo-photometry examination, and visual inspection. This rigorous selection process allows us to compile a statistical catalog of 561 CL-AGNs, encompassing 527 $\rm H\beta$, 149$\rm H\alpha$, and 129 Mg II CL behaviors. In this sample, we find 1) a 283:278 ratio of turn-on to turn-off CL-AGNs. 2) the critical value for CL events is confirmed around Eddington ratio \sim 0.01. 3) a strong correlation between the change in the luminosity of the broad emission lines (BEL) and variation in the continuum luminosity, with Mg II and $\rm H\beta$ displaying similar responses during CL phases. 4) the Baldwin-Phillips-Terlevich diagram for CL-AGNs shows no statistically difference from the general AGN catalog. 5) five CL-AGNs are associated with asymmetrical mid-infrared flares, possibly linked to tidal disruption events. Given the large CL-AGNs and the stochastic sampling of spectra, we propose that some CL events are inherently due to typical AGN variability during low accretion rates, particularly for CL events of the singular BEL. The integration of Large Language Models (LLMs) with visual encoders has recently shown promising performance in visual understanding tasks, leveraging their inherent capability to comprehend and generate human-like text for visual reasoning. Given the diverse nature of visual data, MultiModal Large Language Models (MM-LLMs) exhibit variations in model designing and training for understanding images, short videos, and long videos. Our paper focuses on the substantial differences and unique challenges posed by long video understanding compared to static image and short video understanding. Unlike static images, short videos encompass sequential frames with both spatial and within-event temporal information, while long videos consist of multiple events with between-event and long-term temporal information. In this survey, we aim to trace and summarize the advancements of MM-LLMs from image understanding to long video understanding. We review the differences among various visual understanding tasks and highlight the challenges in long video understanding, including more fine-grained spatiotemporal details, dynamic events, and long-term dependencies. We then provide a detailed summary of the advancements in MM-LLMs in terms of model design and training methodologies for understanding long videos. Finally, we compare the performance of existing MM-LLMs on video understanding benchmarks of various lengths and discuss potential future directions for MM-LLMs in long video understanding., Comment: 11 pages

Protecting sensitive information in diagnostic data such as logs, is a critical concern in the industrial software diagnosis and debugging process. While there are many tools developed to automatically redact the logs for identifying and removing sensitive information, they have severe limitations which can cause either over redaction and loss of critical diagnostic information (false positives), or disclosure of sensitive information (false negatives), or both. To address the problem, in this paper, we argue for a source code analysis approach for log redaction. To identify a log message containing sensitive information, our method locates the corresponding log statement in the source code with logger code augmentation, and checks if the log statement outputs data from sensitive sources by using the data flow graph built from the source code. Appropriate redaction rules are further applied depending on the sensitiveness of the data sources to preserve the privacy information in the logs. We conducted experimental evaluation and comparison with other popular baselines. The results demonstrate that our approach can significantly improve the detection precision of the sensitive information and reduce both false positives and negatives.

This study presents a thorough comparative analysis between post-Newtonian (PN) and numerically relativistic (NR) waveforms in eccentric orbits, covering nonspinning and spin-aligned configurations. The comparison examines frequency, amplitude, and phase characteristics of various harmonic modes, such as 22, 21, 33, 32, 44, 43, and 55 modes. The study utilizes eccentric PN waveforms based on 3PN quasi-Keplerian parameterization with 3PN radiative reaction, surpassing Newtonian quadrupole moment with higher-order moments. NR waveforms from RIT and SXS catalogs span mass ratios from 1/4 to 1, eccentricities up to 0.45, and durations exceeding $17000M$ across nonspinning and spin-aligned configurations. Focusing on the 22 mode, frequency comparisons between quadrupole and higher-order moments of $\Psi_4^{22}$ and $h^{22}$ were conducted. Amplitude comparisons revealed superior accuracy in quadrupole moments of $\Psi_4^{22}$. Analysis of total 180 sets of eccentric waveforms showed increasing fitting residuals with rising eccentricity, correlating with smaller mass ratios. Comparisons of initial eccentricity from PN fitting, 3PN quasi-Keplerian parameterization, and RIT/SXS catalogs revealed alignment discrepancies. The rocketing prosperity of large language models (LLMs) in recent years has boosted the prevalence of vision-language models (VLMs) in the medical sector. In our online medical consultation scenario, a doctor responds to the texts and images provided by a patient in multiple rounds to diagnose her/his health condition, forming a multi-turn multimodal medical dialogue format. Unlike high-quality images captured by professional equipment in traditional medical visual question answering (Med-VQA), the images in our case are taken by patients' mobile phones. These images have poor quality control, with issues such as excessive background elements and the lesion area being significantly off-center, leading to degradation of vision-language alignment in the model training phase. In this paper, we propose ZALM3, a Zero-shot strategy to improve vision-language ALignment in Multi-turn Multimodal Medical dialogue. Since we observe that the preceding text conversations before an image can infer the regions of interest (RoIs) in the image, ZALM3 employs an LLM to summarize the keywords from the preceding context and a visual grounding model to extract the RoIs. The updated images eliminate unnecessary background noise and provide more effective vision-language alignment. To better evaluate our proposed method, we design a new subjective assessment metric for multi-turn unimodal/multimodal medical dialogue to provide a fine-grained performance comparison. Our experiments across three different clinical departments remarkably demonstrate the efficacy of ZALM3 with statistical significance.

A search for the very rare $B^{*0}\to\mu^+\mu^-$ and $B_{s}^{*0}\to\mu^+\mu^-$ decays is conducted by analysing the $B_c^+\to \pi^+\mu^+\mu^-$ process. The analysis uses proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb detector between 2011 and 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9$\text{\,fb}^{-1}$. The signal signatures correspond to simultaneous peaks in the $\mu^+\mu^-$ and $\pi^+\mu^+\mu^-$ invariant masses. No evidence for an excess of events over background is observed for either signal decay mode. Event cameras are innovative neuromorphic sensors that asynchronously capture the scene dynamics. Due to the event-triggering mechanism, such cameras record event streams with much shorter response latency and higher intensity sensitivity compared to conventional cameras. On the basis of these features, previous works have attempted to reconstruct high dynamic range (HDR) videos from events, but have either suffered from unrealistic artifacts or failed to provide sufficiently high frame rates. In this paper, we present a recurrent convolutional neural network that reconstruct high-speed HDR videos from event sequences, with a key frame guidance to prevent potential error accumulation caused by the sparse event data. Additionally, to address the problem of severely limited real dataset, we develop a new optical system to collect a real-world dataset with paired high-speed HDR videos and event streams, facilitating future research in this field. Our dataset provides the first real paired dataset for event-to-HDR reconstruction, avoiding potential inaccuracies from simulation strategies. Experimental results demonstrate that our method can generate high-quality, high-speed HDR videos. In this paper, we explore the quasinormal modes (QNMs) of a black hole surrounded by a fluid of strings within the framework of Rastall gravity. We analyze the behavior of scalar, electromagnetic, and gravitational perturbations, focusing on the influence of the black hole charge $Q$ and angular momentum $l$ on the quasinormal frequencies. Our numerical results reveal a significant dependence on the parameter $\varepsilon$. These trends are consistent across different types of perturbations, emphasizing the relationship between black hole parameters and QNMs behavior.

In this paper, we address conditional testing problems through the conformal inference framework. We define the localized conformal p-values by inverting prediction intervals and prove their theoretical properties. These defined p-values are then applied to several conditional testing problems to illustrate their practicality. Firstly, we propose a conditional outlier detection procedure to test for outliers in the conditional distribution with finite-sample false discovery rate (FDR) control. We also introduce a novel conditional label screening problem with the goal of screening multivariate response variables and propose a screening procedure to control the family-wise error rate (FWER). Finally, we consider the two-sample conditional distribution test and define a weighted U-statistic through the aggregation of localized p-values. Numerical simulations and real-data examples validate the superior performance of our proposed strategies.

In this paper, we utilize information-theoretic metrics like matrix entropy and mutual information to analyze supervised learning. We explore the information content of data representations and classification head weights and their information interplay during supervised training. Experiments show that matrix entropy cannot solely describe the interaction of the information content of data representation and classification head weights but it can effectively reflect the similarity and clustering behavior of the data. Inspired by this, we propose a cross-modal alignment loss to improve the alignment between the representations of the same class from different modalities. Moreover, in order to assess the interaction of the information content of data representation and classification head weights more accurately, we utilize new metrics like matrix mutual information ratio (MIR) and matrix information entropy difference ratio (HDR). Supermassive black holes (SMBHs) can grow through both accretion and mergers. It is still unclear how SMBHs evolve under these two channels from high redshifts to the SMBH population we observe in the local universe. Observations can directly constrain the accretion channel but cannot effectively constrain mergers yet, while cosmological simulations provide galaxy merger information but can hardly return accretion properties consistent with observations. In this work, we combine the observed accretion channel and the simulated merger channel, taking advantage of both observations and cosmological simulations, to depict a realistic evolution pattern of the SMBH population. With this methodology, we can derive the scaling relation between the black-hole mass ($M_\mathrm{BH}$) and host-galaxy stellar mass ($M_\star$) and the local black-hole mass function (BHMF). Our scaling relation is lower than those based on dynamically measured $M_\mathrm{BH}$, supporting the claim that dynamically measured SMBH samples may be biased. We show that the scaling relation has little redshift evolution. The BHMF steadily increases from $z=4$ to $z=1$ and remains largely unchanged from $z=1$ to $z=0$. The overall SMBH growth is generally dominated by the accretion channel, with possible exceptions at high mass ($M_\mathrm{BH}\gtrsim10^{8}~M_\odot$ or $M_\star\gtrsim10^{11}~M_\odot$) and low redshift ($z\lesssim1$). Baryonic two-body $B$ mesons decays have been measured experimentally for some time, which provides an excellent ground for studying the QCD of baryonic $B$ decays. In this work, we investigate the two-body doubly-charmed baryonic $B$ decays in the perturbative QCD (PQCD) approach including higher twist contributions to the light-cone distribution amplitudes (LCDAs). The charmed baryon LCDAs are included up to the twist four and the effect of the subleading component of the $B$ meson LCDAs is studied for details. With the inclusion of these higher-power contributions, the PQCD results on rates can explain the current experimental data well. Moreover, we note that the SU(3) symmetry breaking is important in the concerned processes and play an essential role in understanding the measurements of $\mathcal{B}(\overline{B}^0\to \Lambda_c^+\overline \Lambda_c^-)$ and $ \mathcal{B}({B}^-\to\Xi_c^0\overline \Lambda_c^-)$. We also evaluate the angular asymmetries for the first time, which have neither been measured experimentally nor calculated theoretically. It is well-known that Brualdi-Hoffman-Tur\'an-type problem asks what is the maximum spectral radius $\lambda(G)$ of an $F$-free graph $G$ with $m$ edges? It can be viewed as a spectral characterization on the existence of the subgraph $F$ in $G.$ A nice contribution on the above problem is due to Nikiforov (2002), which states that $\lambda(G)\leqslant \sqrt{2m(1-1/r)}$ for every $K_{r+1}$-free graph of size $m$. Let $\theta_{1,p,q}$ be the theta graph, which is obtained by connecting two vertices with 3 internally disjoint paths of lengths $1,p,q$, respectively. Let $F_k$ be the fan graph, i.e., the join of a $K_1$ and a path $P_{k-1}$, and let $F_{k,3}$ be the friendship graph obtained from $k$ triangles by sharing a common vertex. In this paper, we use $k$-core method and spectral techniques to resolve some spectral extrema of graphs with fixed size. Firstly, we show that, for $k\geqslant3$ and $m\geqslant \frac{9}{4}k^6+6k^5+46k^4+56k^3+196k^2$, if $G$ is $F_{2k+2}$-free, then $\lambda(G)\leqslant\frac{k-1+\sqrt{4m-k^2+1}}{2},$ equality holds if and only if $G \cong K_k\vee(\frac{m}{k}-\frac{k-1}{2})K_1.$ Secondly, we show that, for $k\geqslant 3$ and $m\geqslant \frac{9}{4}k^6+6k^5+46k^4+56k^3+196k^2$, if $G$ is $F_{k,3}$-free of size $m$, then $\lambda(G)\leqslant\frac{k-1+\sqrt{4m-k^2+1}}{2},$ equality holds if and only if $G\cong K_k\vee(\frac{m}{k}-\frac{k-1}{2})K_1$. This confirms a conjecture proposed by Li, Lu and Peng [Discrete Math. 346(2023)113680]. Given an unconditional diffusion model and a predictor for a target property of interest (e.g., a classifier), the goal of training-free guidance is to generate samples with desirable target properties without additional training. Existing methods, though effective in various individual applications, often lack theoretical grounding and rigorous testing on extensive benchmarks. As a result, they could even fail on simple tasks, and applying them to a new problem becomes unavoidably difficult. This paper introduces a novel algorithmic framework encompassing existing methods as special cases, unifying the study of training-free guidance into the analysis of an algorithm-agnostic design space. Via theoretical and empirical investigation, we propose an efficient and effective hyper-parameter searching strategy that can be readily applied to any downstream task. We systematically benchmark across 7 diffusion models on 16 tasks with 40 targets, and improve performance by 8.5% on average. Our framework and benchmark offer a solid foundation for conditional generation in a training-free manner.

The exponential growth of the mobile app market underscores the importance of constant innovation and rapid response to user demands. As user satisfaction is paramount to the success of a mobile application (app), developers typically rely on user reviews, which represent user feedback that includes ratings and comments to identify areas for improvement. However, the sheer volume of user reviews poses challenges in manual analysis, necessitating automated approaches. Existing automated approaches either analyze only the target apps reviews, neglecting the comparison of similar features to competitors or fail to provide suggestions for feature enhancement. To address these gaps, we propose a Large Language Model (LLM)-based Competitive User Review Analysis for Feature Enhancement) (LLM-Cure), an approach powered by LLMs to automatically generate suggestion s for mobile app feature improvements. More specifically, LLM-Cure identifies and categorizes features within reviews by applying LLMs. When provided with a complaint in a user review, LLM-Cure curates highly rated (4 and 5 stars) reviews in competing apps related to the complaint and proposes potential improvements tailored to the target application. We evaluate LLM-Cure on 1,056,739 reviews of 70 popular Android apps. Our evaluation demonstrates that LLM-Cure significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art approaches in assigning features to reviews by up to 13% in F1-score, up to 16% in recall and up to 11% in precision. Additionally, LLM-Cure demonstrates its capability to provide suggestions for resolving user complaints. We verify the suggestions using the release notes that reflect the changes of features in the target mobile app. LLM-Cure achieves a promising average of 73% of the implementation of the provided suggestions., Comment: 25 pages

By analyzing $e^+e^-$ annihilation data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.93 fb$^{-1}$, collected at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, we search for the semileptonic decays $D^0\to K^-\eta e^+\nu_e$, $D^+\to K_S^0 \eta e^+\nu_e$ and $D^+\to \eta\eta e^+\nu_e$ for the first time. We present evidence for $D^0\to K^-\eta e^+\nu_e$ with a significance of $3.3\sigma$. The branching fraction of $D^0\to K^-\eta e^+\nu_e$ is measured to be $(0.84_{-0.34}^{+0.29}\pm0.22)\times 10^{-4}$. Here, the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones are systematic. No significant signals are observed for the decays $D^+\to K_S^0 \eta e^+\nu_e$ and $D^+\to \eta\eta e^+\nu_e$ and we set the upper limits on their branching fractions., Comment: 10 pages,4 figures

The allyl radical (C3H5) is a well-characterized hydrocarbon radical, renowned for its pivotal role as an intermediate species in high-energy environments. Its core excited states can elucidate intricate details pertaining to its electronic and structural properties. The core excited states of allyl were studied experimentally using X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), and the primary characteristic peaks were assigned using the MCSCF approach, but not entirely. In this work, the recently developed CVS-icMRCISD scheme was used to simulate the excitation and ionization processes of C's K-shell electrons within allyl radicals, cations, and anions, respectively. Our results indicate that the XAS spectrum obtained not merely captured the distinctive peaks associated with allyl radicals, but also encompassed the characteristic peaks pertaining to allyl cations. Meanwhile, unlike manually adjusting the state weights of different electronic states to align with experimental spectral data, we adopt the CVS-icMRCISD scheme, which uses state averaging and produces unbiased results, making it suitable for studying multiple states simultaneously and easy to converge. More importantly, when accounting for the dynamic electron correlation, our results align seamlessly with the experimental XAS. This congruence underscores the potential of our CVS-icMRCISD as a robust tool for theoretical investigations pertaining to the excitation of inner shell electrons in small molecules.

Trajectory prediction is a crucial aspect of understanding human behaviors. Researchers have made efforts to represent socially interactive behaviors among pedestrians and utilize various networks to enhance prediction capability. Unfortunately, they still face challenges not only in fully explaining and measuring how these interactive behaviors work to modify trajectories but also in modeling pedestrians' preferences to plan or participate in social interactions in response to the changeable physical environments as extra conditions. This manuscript mainly focuses on the above explainability and conditionality requirements for trajectory prediction networks. Inspired by marine animals perceiving other companions and the environment underwater by echolocation, this work constructs an angle-based conditioned social interaction representation SocialCircle+ to represent the socially interactive context and its corresponding conditions. It employs a social branch and a conditional branch to describe how pedestrians are positioned in prediction scenes socially and physically in angle-based-cyclic-sequence forms. Then, adaptive fusion is applied to fuse the above conditional clues onto the social ones to learn the final interaction representation. Experiments demonstrate the superiority of SocialCircle+ with different trajectory prediction backbones. Moreover, counterfactual interventions have been made to simultaneously verify the modeling capacity of causalities among interactive variables and the conditioning capability.

In recent years, Deep Learning (DL) applications in JavaScript environment have become increasingly popular. As the infrastructure for DL applications, JavaScript DL frameworks play a crucial role in the development and deployment. It is essential to ensure the quality of JavaScript DL frameworks. However, the bottleneck of limited computational resources in the JavaScript environment brings new challenges to framework testing. Specifically, JavaScript DL frameworks are equipped with various optimization mechanisms (e.g., cache reuse, inference acceleration) to overcome the bottleneck of limited computational resources. These optimization mechanisms are overlooked by existing methods, resulting in many bugs in JavaScript DL frameworks being missed. To address the above challenges, we propose a mutation-based JavaScript DL framework testing method named DLJSFuzzer. DLJSFuzzer designs 13 tensor mutation rules targeting the cache reuse mechanism to generate test input tensors. Besides, DLJSFuzzer designs eight model mutation rules targeting the inference acceleration mechanism to generate test input models. To evaluate the effectiveness of DLJSFuzzer, we conduct experiments on the most widely-used JavaScript DL framework, TensorFlow.js. The experimental results show that DLJSFuzzer outperforms state-of-the-art methods in both effectiveness and efficiency. DLJSFuzzer successfully detects 21 unique crashes and 126 unique NaN & Inconsistency bugs. All detected crashes have been reported to the open-source community, with 12 of them already confirmed by developers. The goal of this paper is to encode a 3D scene into an extremely compact representation from 2D images and to enable its transmittance, decoding and rendering in real-time across various platforms. Despite the progress in NeRFs and Gaussian Splats, their large model size and specialized renderers make it challenging to distribute free-viewpoint 3D content as easily as images. To address this, we have designed a novel 3D representation that encodes the plenoptic function into sinusoidal function indexed dense volumes. This approach facilitates feature sharing across different locations, improving compactness over traditional spatial voxels. The memory footprint of the dense 3D feature grid can be further reduced using spatial decomposition techniques. This design combines the strengths of spatial hashing functions and voxel decomposition, resulting in a model size as small as 150 KB for each 3D scene. Moreover, PPNG features a lightweight rendering pipeline with only 300 lines of code that decodes its representation into standard GL textures and fragment shaders. This enables real-time rendering using the traditional GL pipeline, ensuring universal compatibility and efficiency across various platforms without additional dependencies.

In multiple changepoint analysis, assessing the uncertainty of detected changepoints is crucial for enhancing detection reliability -- a topic that has garnered significant attention. Despite advancements through selective p-values, current methodologies often rely on stringent assumptions tied to specific changepoint models and detection algorithms, potentially compromising the accuracy of post-detection statistical inference. We introduce TUNE (Thresholding Universally and Nullifying change Effect), a novel algorithm-agnostic approach that uniformly controls error probabilities across detected changepoints. TUNE sets a universal threshold for multiple test statistics, applicable across a wide range of algorithms, and directly controls the family-wise error rate without the need for selective p-values. Through extensive theoretical and numerical analyses, TUNE demonstrates versatility, robustness, and competitive power, offering a viable and reliable alternative for model-agnostic post-detection inference.

Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are the most luminous transients in the universe. The interaction of the relativistic jet with the circumburst medium produces an afterglow and generates multiwavelength emission. In this work, we present simultaneous multiband photometry of GRB~240825A with the Multi-channel Photometric Survey Telescope (Mephisto) and analyze its temporal and spectral properties. The measurement began 128 seconds after the GRB trigger and continued until the fourth day when the afterglow essentially diminished and the measured brightness was close to that of the host galaxy. Based on the multiband light curves in the $uvgriz$ bands, we find that the optical flux density satisfies $F_{\nu,{\rm obs}}\propto t^{-1.34}\nu^{-2.48}$ with a spectral index of $2.48$ much larger than those of most other GRBs. To reconcile the measured much softer spectral energy distribution (SED) with that predicted by the standard afterglow model, an extra host-galaxy extinction of $E_{B-V}\sim(0.37-0.57)$ mag is required. We interpreted this excess as arising from a dense circumburst medium. We further find that the SED of the optical afterglow hardened as the afterglow decayed and the color excess $E_{B-V}$ decreased $\sim0.21$ mag in the first 3000 seconds. Finally, we analyze the properties of the host galaxy of GRB~240825A based on data from the SDSS, PanSTARRS and HSC-SSP surveys. For a host redshift of $z=0.659$, the stellar mass and star formation rate of the host galaxy are estimated to be $\log(M_*/M_\odot)=10.0^{+0.3}_{-0.3}$ and $\log({\rm SFR}/M_{\odot}{\rm yr}^{-1})= 0.6^{+0.8}_{-3.3}$, respectively, pointing to a gas-rich, star-forming, medium-size galaxy., Comment: 15 pages, 5 figures, 1 table. Quantum spintronics is an emerging field focused on developing novel applications by utilizing the quantum coherence of magnetic systems. Robust information transmission is crucial for achieving fully scalable spintronic devices. However, despite its significance, reliable long-range quantum information transmission in magnetic systems remains a challenging frontier. Here, we introduce a long-distance quantum transmission scheme based on topological spin textures in a hybrid system of a magnetic racetrack and spin qubits. We demonstrate this principle by employing the domain wall (DW)-the most fundamental texture-to transport quantum signal between distant qubits. In particular, we propose and analyze an efficient measurement-free protocol that leverages the DW mobility to enable robust entanglement generation between distant qubits. Strikingly, we find that this remote entanglement generation is not only fast and of high fidelity, but also remarkably tunable, capable of being easily turned on and off on-demand by switching the DW initial state. Furthermore, we show that, interestingly, spin qubits can serve as quantum stations for the racetrack, facilitating state transfer among fast-moving DWs on the same track. Understanding the dispersion process of supported catalysts is crucial for synthesizing atomic-level dispersed catalysts and precisely manipulating their chemical state. However, the underlying dispersion mechanism remains elusive due to the lack of atomic-level evidence during the dispersion process. Herein, by employing spherical aberration-corrected environmental scanning transmission electron microscopy (ESTEM), first-principles calculations, and a global optimization algorithm, we unraveled the pre-oxidation dispersion and direct dispersion mechanisms in the Pd/CeO2 (100) system, mediated by the thermodynamic and kinetic behaviors of single Pd species. We discovered that at lower temperatures, the Pd nanoparticles first undergo oxidation followed by the dispersion of PdO, while at higher temperatures, the entire dispersion process of Pd remains in a metallic state. The distinct dispersion mechanisms at different temperatures are driven by the thermodynamic and kinetic differences of environment-dependent single Pd species. The nonmobile Pd1O4 species stabilized at lower temperatures obstructs the direct dispersion of Pd nanoparticles, instead triggering a sequence of pre-oxidation followed by limited dispersion. In contrast, the highly mobile Pd1O2 species at higher temperatures facilitates the complete and direct dispersion of Pd nanoparticles. This research illuminates the essential physical mechanisms of oxidative dispersion from both thermodynamic and kinetic perspectives, potentially enabling strategies for precisely controlling the state of highly dispersed catalysts.

This work presents a LiDAR-based quadrotor system for slope inspection in dense vegetation environments. Cities like Hong Kong are vulnerable to climate hazards, which often result in landslides. To mitigate the landslide risks, the Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) has constructed steel flexible debris-resisting barriers on vulnerable natural catchments to protect residents. However, it is necessary to carry out regular inspections to identify any anomalies, which may affect the proper functioning of the barriers. Traditional manual inspection methods face challenges and high costs due to steep terrain and dense vegetation. Compared to manual inspection, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) equipped with LiDAR sensors and cameras have advantages such as maneuverability in complex terrain, and access to narrow areas and high spots. However, conducting slope inspections using UAVs in dense vegetation poses significant challenges. First, in terms of hardware, the overall design of the UAV must carefully consider its maneuverability in narrow spaces, flight time, and the types of onboard sensors required for effective inspection. Second, regarding software, navigation algorithms need to be designed to enable obstacle avoidance flight in dense vegetation environments. To overcome these challenges, we develop a LiDAR-based quadrotor, accompanied by a comprehensive software system. The goal is to deploy our quadrotor in field environments to achieve efficient slope inspection. To assess the feasibility of our hardware and software system, we conduct functional tests in non-operational scenarios. Subsequently, invited by CEDD, we deploy our quadrotor in six field environments, including five flexible debris-resisting barriers located in dense vegetation and one slope that experienced a landslide. In this paper, we analyze any-order Runge-Kutta spectral volume schemes (RKSV(s,k)) for solving the one-dimensional scalar hyperbolic equation. The RKSV(s,k) was constructed by using the $s$-th explicit Runge-Kutta method in time-discretization which has {\it strong-stability-preserving} (SSP) property, and by letting a piecewise $k-$th degree($k\geq 1 $ is an arbitrary integer) polynomial satisfy the local conservation law in each control volume designed by subdividing the underlying mesh with $k$ Gauss-Legendre points (LSV) or right-Radau points (RRSV).For the RKSV(s,k), we would like to establish a general framework which use the matrix transferring process technique for analyzing the stability and the convergence property. The framework for stability is evolved based on the energy equation, while the framework for error estimate is evolved based on the error equation. And the evolution process is represented by matrices.After the evolution is completed, three key indicative pieces of information are obtained: the termination factor $\zeta$, the indicator factor $\rho$, and the final evolved matrix. We prove that for the RKSV(s,k), the {\it stability } holds and the $L_2$ norm error estimate is $\mathcal{O}(h^{k+1}+\tau^s)$, provided that the CFL condition is satisfied. We report the first measurement of the azimuthal anisotropy of J$/\psi$ at forward rapidity ($1.2<|\eta|<2.2$) in Au$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The data were collected by the PHENIX experiment in 2014 and 2016 with integrated luminosity of 14.5~nb$^{-1}$. The second Fourier coefficient ($v_2$) of the azimuthal distribution of $J/\psi$ is determined as a function of the transverse momentum ($p_T$) using the event-plane method. The measurements were performed for several selections of collision centrality: 0\%--50\%, 10\%--60\%, and 10\%-40\%. We find that in all cases the values of $v_2(p_T)$, which quantify the elliptic flow of J$/\psi$, are consistent with zero. We present the first forward-rapidity measurements of elliptic anisotropy of open-heavy-flavor muons at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The differential branching fraction and angular coefficients of \ensuremath{\it{\Lambda}^\mathrm{0}_b \rightarrow pK^-\mu^+\mu^-}\xspace decays are measured in bins of the dimuon mass squared and dihadron mass. The analysis is performed using a data set corresponding to 9$\aunit{fb}^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity collected with the $\mbox{LHCb}$ detector between 2011 and 2018. The data are consistent with receiving contributions from a mixture of $\it{\Lambda}$ resonances with different spin-parity quantum numbers. In recent years, encoder-decoder networks have focused on expanding receptive fields and incorporating multi-scale context to capture global features for objects of varying sizes. However, as networks deepen, they often discard fine spatial details, impairing precise object localization. Additionally, conventional decoders' use of interpolation for upsampling leads to a loss of global context, diminishing edge segmentation accuracy. To address the above problems, we propose a novel parallel multi-resolution encoder-decoder network, namely PMR-Net for short. First, we design a parallel multi-resolution encoder and a multi-resolution context encoder. The parallel multi-resolution encoder can extract and fuse multi-scale fine-grained local features in parallel for input images with different resolutions. The multi-resolution context encoder fuses the global context semantic features of different receptive fields from different encoder branches to maintain effectively the integrity of global information. Secondly, we design a parallel multi-resolution decoder symmetrical to the structure of parallel multi-resolution encoder. The decoder can continuously supplement the global context features of low-resolution branches to the feature maps of high-resolution branches, and effectively solve the problem of global context feature loss caused by upsampling operation in the decoding process. Extensive experiment results demonstrate that our proposed PMR-Net can achieve more accurate segmentation results than state-of-the-art methods on five public available datasets. Moreover, PMR-Net is also a flexible network framework, which can meet the requirements of different scenarios by adjusting the number of network layers and the number of parallel encoder-decoder branches.

With the advent of the big data and large language model era, zero-shot personalized rapid customization has emerged as a significant trend. In this report, we introduce Takin AudioLLM, a series of techniques and models, mainly including Takin TTS, Takin VC, and Takin Morphing, specifically designed for audiobook production. These models are capable of zero-shot speech production, generating high-quality speech that is nearly indistinguishable from real human speech and facilitating individuals to customize the speech content according to their own needs. Specifically, we first introduce Takin TTS, a neural codec language model that builds upon an enhanced neural speech codec and a multi-task training framework, capable of generating high-fidelity natural speech in a zero-shot way. For Takin VC, we advocate an effective content and timbre joint modeling approach to improve the speaker similarity, while advocating for a conditional flow matching based decoder to further enhance its naturalness and expressiveness. Last, we propose the Takin Morphing system with highly decoupled and advanced timbre and prosody modeling approaches, which enables individuals to customize speech production with their preferred timbre and prosody in a precise and controllable manner. Molecular dynamics simulations offer detailed insights into atomic motions but face timescale limitations. Enhanced sampling methods have addressed these challenges but even with machine learning, they often rely on pre-selected expert-based features. In this work, we present the Graph Neural Network-State Predictive Information Bottleneck (GNN-SPIB) framework, which combines graph neural networks and the State Predictive Information Bottleneck to automatically learn low-dimensional representations directly from atomic coordinates. Tested on three benchmark systems, our approach predicts essential structural, thermodynamic and kinetic information for slow processes, demonstrating robustness across diverse systems. The method shows promise for complex systems, enabling effective enhanced sampling without requiring pre-defined reaction coordinates or input features.

Spin and valley are two fundamental properties of electrons in crystals. The similarity between them is well understood in valley-contrasting physics established decades ago in two-dimensional (2D) materials like graphene--with broken inversion symmetry, the two valleys in graphene exhibit opposite orbital magnetic moments, similar to the spin-1/2 behaviors of electrons, and opposite Berry curvature that leads to a half topological charge. However, valley-contrasting physics has never been explored in 3D crystals. Here, we develop a 3D acoustic crystal exhibiting 3D valley-contrasting physics. Unlike spin that is fundamentally binary, valley in 3D can take six different values, each carrying a vortex in a distinct direction. The topological valley transport is generalized from the edge states of 2D materials to the surface states of 3D materials, with interesting features including robust propagation, topological refraction, and valley-cavity localization. We study the spontaneous scalarization of Bardeen black holes, whose tachyonic instability triggers the formation of scalarized charged black holes (SCBHs). In this case, we find infinite ($n=0,1,2,\cdots$) branches of SCBHs with magnetic charge $g$. The $n = 0$ branch of SCBHs can be found for the coupling parameter $\alpha \geq \alpha_{n=0}(g)$ with both quadratic (1-$\alpha \varphi^2$) and exponential ($e^{-\alpha \varphi^2}$) couplings, where $\alpha_{n=0}(g)$ represents the threshold of tachyonic instability for the Bardeen black holes. Furthermore, it is shown that the $n = 0$ branch for both couplings is stable against radial perturbations. Existing audio-text retrieval (ATR) methods are essentially discriminative models that aim to maximize the conditional likelihood, represented as p(candidates|query). Nevertheless, this methodology fails to consider the intrinsic data distribution p(query), leading to difficulties in discerning out-of-distribution data. In this work, we attempt to tackle this constraint through a generative perspective and model the relationship between audio and text as their joint probability p(candidates,query). To this end, we present a diffusion-based ATR framework (DiffATR), which models ATR as an iterative procedure that progressively generates joint distribution from noise. Throughout its training phase, DiffATR is optimized from both generative and discriminative viewpoints: the generator is refined through a generation loss, while the feature extractor benefits from a contrastive loss, thus combining the merits of both methodologies. Experiments on the AudioCaps and Clotho datasets with superior performances, verify the effectiveness of our approach. As large language models achieve increasingly impressive results, questions arise about whether such performance is from generalizability or mere data memorization. Thus, numerous data contamination detection methods have been proposed. However, these approaches are often validated with traditional benchmarks and early-stage LLMs, leaving uncertainty about their effectiveness when evaluating state-of-the-art LLMs on the contamination of more challenging benchmarks. To address this gap and provide a dual investigation of SOTA LLM contamination status and detection method robustness, we evaluate five contamination detection approaches with four state-of-the-art LLMs across eight challenging datasets often used in modern LLM evaluation. Our analysis reveals that (1) Current methods have non-trivial limitations in their assumptions and practical applications; (2) Notable difficulties exist in detecting contamination introduced during instruction fine-tuning with answer augmentation; and (3) Limited consistencies between SOTA contamination detection techniques. These findings highlight the complexity of contamination detection in advanced LLMs and the urgent need for further research on robust and generalizable contamination evaluation. Quantum computers may outperform classical computers on machine learning tasks. In recent years, a variety of quantum algorithms promising unparalleled potential to enhance, speed up, or innovate machine learning have been proposed. Yet, quantum learning systems, similar to their classical counterparts, may likewise suffer from the catastrophic forgetting problem, where training a model with new tasks would result in a dramatic performance drop for the previously learned ones. This problem is widely believed to be a crucial obstacle to achieving continual learning of multiple sequential tasks. Here, we report an experimental demonstration of quantum continual learning on a fully programmable superconducting processor. In particular, we sequentially train a quantum classifier with three tasks, two about identifying real-life images and the other on classifying quantum states, and demonstrate its catastrophic forgetting through experimentally observed rapid performance drops for prior tasks. To overcome this dilemma, we exploit the elastic weight consolidation strategy and show that the quantum classifier can incrementally learn and retain knowledge across the three distinct tasks, with an average prediction accuracy exceeding 92.3%. In addition, for sequential tasks involving quantum-engineered data, we demonstrate that the quantum classifier can achieve a better continual learning performance than a commonly used classical feedforward network with a comparable number of variational parameters. Micro-expressions are involuntary facial movements that cannot be consciously controlled, conveying subtle cues with substantial real-world applications. The analysis of micro-expressions generally involves two main tasks: spotting micro-expression intervals in long videos and recognizing the emotions associated with these intervals. Previous deep learning methods have primarily relied on classification networks utilizing sliding windows. However, fixed window sizes and window-level hard classification introduce numerous constraints. Additionally, these methods have not fully exploited the potential of complementary pathways for spotting and recognition. In this paper, we present a novel temporal state transition architecture grounded in the state space model, which replaces conventional window-level classification with video-level regression. Furthermore, by leveraging the inherent connections between spotting and recognition tasks, we propose a synergistic strategy that enhances overall analysis performance. The interplay between stochastic processes and optimal control has been extensively explored in the literature. With the recent surge in the use of diffusion models, stochastic processes have increasingly been applied to sample generation. This paper builds on the log transform, known as the Cole-Hopf transform in Brownian motion contexts, and extends it within a more abstract framework that includes a linear operator. Within this framework, we found that the well-known relationship between the Cole-Hopf transform and optimal transport is a particular instance where the linear operator acts as the infinitesimal generator of a stochastic process. We also introduce a novel scenario where the linear operator is the adjoint of the generator, linking to Bayesian inference under specific initial and terminal conditions. Leveraging this theoretical foundation, we develop a new algorithm, named the HJ-sampler, for Bayesian inference for the inverse problem of a stochastic differential equation with given terminal observations. The HJ-sampler involves two stages: (1) solving the viscous Hamilton-Jacobi partial differential equations, and (2) sampling from the associated stochastic optimal control problem. Our proposed algorithm naturally allows for flexibility in selecting the numerical solver for viscous HJ PDEs. We introduce two variants of the solver: the Riccati-HJ-sampler, based on the Riccati method, and the SGM-HJ-sampler, which utilizes diffusion models. We demonstrate the effectiveness and flexibility of the proposed methods by applying them to solve Bayesian inverse problems involving various stochastic processes and prior distributions, including applications that address model misspecifications and quantifying model uncertainty.

Most existing audio-text retrieval (ATR) approaches typically rely on a single-level interaction to associate audio and text, limiting their ability to align different modalities and leading to suboptimal matches. In this work, we present a novel ATR framework that leverages two-stream Transformers in conjunction with a Hierarchical Alignment (THA) module to identify multi-level correspondences of different Transformer blocks between audio and text. Moreover, current ATR methods mainly focus on learning a global-level representation, missing out on intricate details to capture audio occurrences that correspond to textual semantics. To bridge this gap, we introduce a Disentangled Cross-modal Representation (DCR) approach that disentangles high-dimensional features into compact latent factors to grasp fine-grained audio-text semantic correlations. Additionally, we develop a confidence-aware (CA) module to estimate the confidence of each latent factor pair and adaptively aggregate cross-modal latent factors to achieve local semantic alignment. We introduce Seed-Music, a suite of music generation systems capable of producing high-quality music with fine-grained style control. Our unified framework leverages both auto-regressive language modeling and diffusion approaches to support two key music creation workflows: controlled music generation and post-production editing. For controlled music generation, our system enables vocal music generation with performance controls from multi-modal inputs, including style descriptions, audio references, musical scores, and voice prompts. Optimal cooling that minimises thermal gradients and the average temperature is essential for enhanced battery safety and health. This work presents a new modelling approach for battery cells of different shapes by integrating Chebyshev spectral-Galerkin method and model component decomposition. As a result, a library of reduced-order computationally efficient battery thermal models is obtained, characterised by different numbers of states. These models are validated against a high-fidelity finite element model and are compared with a thermal equivalent circuit (TEC) model under real-world vehicle driving and battery cooling scenarios. Illustrative results demonstrate that the proposed model with four states can faithfully capture the two-dimensional thermal dynamics, while the model with only one state significantly outperforms the widely-used two-state TEC model in both accuracy and computational efficiency, reducing computation time by 28.7\%. Furthermore, our developed models allow for independent control of tab and surface cooling channels, enabling effective thermal performance optimisation. Through iterative development within Qiskit, primarily using the Rust programming language, we have achieved a version of the algorithm in Qiskit 1.2.0 that is approximately 200 times faster than the implementation in Qiskit 0.20.1, which already introduced key improvements like the release valve mechanism. Additionally, when compared to the SABRE algorithm presented in Li et al., LightSABRE delivers an average decrease of 18.9\% in SWAP gate count across the same benchmark circuits. Unlike SABRE, which struggles with scalability and convergence on large circuits, LightSABRE delivers consistently high-quality routing solutions, enabling the efficient execution of large quantum circuits on near-term and future quantum devices. Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCTA) is a crucial imaging technique for visualizing retinal vasculature and diagnosing eye diseases such as diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma. However, precise segmentation of OCTA vasculature remains challenging due to the multi-scale vessel structures and noise from poor image quality and eye lesions. In this study, we proposed OCTAMamba, a novel U-shaped network based on the Mamba architecture, designed to segment vasculature in OCTA accurately. OCTAMamba integrates a Quad Stream Efficient Mining Embedding Module for local feature extraction, a Multi-Scale Dilated Asymmetric Convolution Module to capture multi-scale vasculature, and a Focused Feature Recalibration Module to filter noise and highlight target areas. Our method achieves efficient global modeling and local feature extraction while maintaining linear complexity, making it suitable for low-computation medical applications. Extensive experiments on the OCTA 3M, OCTA 6M, and ROSSA datasets demonstrated that OCTAMamba outperforms state-of-the-art methods, providing a new reference for efficient OCTA segmentation. The TESS mission searches for transiting exoplanets by monitoring the brightness of hundreds of thousands of stars across the entire sky. M-type planet hosts are ideal targets for this mission due to their smaller size and cooler temperatures, which makes it easier to detect smaller planets near or within their habitable zones. Additionally, M~dwarfs have a smaller contrast ratio between the planet and the star, making it easier to measure the planet's properties accurately. Here, we report the validation analysis of 13 TESS exoplanet candidates orbiting around M dwarfs. We studied the nature of these candidates through a multi-colour transit photometry transit analysis using several ground-based instruments (MuSCAT2, MuSCAT3, and LCO-SINISTRO), high-spatial resolution observations, and TESS light curves. We present the validation of five new planetary systems: TOI-1883b, TOI-2274b, TOI2768b, TOI-4438b, and TOI-5319b, along with compelling evidence of a planetary nature for TOIs 2781b and 5486b. We also present an empirical definition for the Neptune desert boundaries. The remaining six systems could not be validated due to large true radius values overlapping with the brown dwarf regime or, alternatively, the presence of chromaticity in the MuSCAT2 light curves.

The $CP$-even fractions ($F_{+}$) of the decays $D^0\to\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{0}$ and $D^0\to K^{+}K^{-}\pi^{0}$ are measured with a quantum-correlated $\psi(3770)\to D\bar{D}$ data sample collected by the BESIII experiment corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.93 $\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$. The results are $F_{+}^{\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{0}}=0.9406\pm0.0036\pm0.0021$ and $F_{+}^{K^{+}K^{-}\pi^{0}}=0.631\pm0.014\pm0.011$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. These measurements are consistent with the previous determinations, and the uncertainties for $F_{+}^{\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{0}}$ and $F_{+}^{K^{+}K^{-}\pi^{0}}$ are reduced by factors of 3.9 and 2.6, respectively. The reported results provide important inputs for the precise measurement of the angle $\gamma$ of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix and indirect $CP$ violation in charm mixing., Comment: 19 pages, 8 figures
