Abstract

Objectives: Lactic acid metabolism, a hallmark of carcinogenesis, may play potential roles in cervical carcinoma, assisting the prognosis prediction. Materials and Methods: A regression analysis was conducted to identify the ones with the most frequent variation in mutations and CNV changes in lactate metabolism‐related (L‐related) genes, after which a prognostic nomogram was built based on selected genes and clinical features by machine learning methods. Results: EGLN1, IL1, IL12RB1, ENO1, and 10 other genes had the most frequent changes and prognostic differences in overall survival (OS). The lactated associated risk (LAR) score model can distinguish the patients in OS (p = 0.046, HR = 101.9, 95%CI 1.1–9447.6), and together with clinical features has a higher AUC (AUC = 0.839). Furthermore, CD8+ T, activated CD4+ memory T and resting mast cells were significantly negatively associated with the LAR score. Conclusions: Lactic acid metabolism is closely related to the prognosis of cervical carcinoma, where the immune microenvironment may play an important role. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Objective To establish a novel approach for diagnosing endometriosis (EM) in patients with impaired endometrial receptivity. Method Mixed lineage leukemia 1 (MLL1) and enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2) levels were analyzed. The MLL1:EZH2 ratio in identifying impaired endometrial receptivity has been established and validated. Results In normal endometrial tissue, the MLL1:EZH2 ratio increased significantly in the midsecretory phase, compared with that in the proliferative phase. In the midsecretory phase, the MLL1:EZH2 ratio in endometrial tissues and uterine secretions accurately identifies patients with EM who have impaired endometrial receptivity. In the validation group, the sensitivity and specificity of the MLL1:EZH2 ratio in the uterine secretions of the midsecretory phase, in diagnosing patients EM who have impaired endometrial receptivity, were 100% and 96.55%, respectively. Conclusions The MLL1:EZH2 ratio in uterine secretions of the midsecretory phase may serve as a marker to diagnose EM in patients with impaired endometrial receptivity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

15. A 6-Degrees-of-Freedom Soft Robotic Joint with Tilt-arranged Origami Actuator

Abstract

Soft manipulators attract increasing interests in robotic applications involving unstructured environment and human-robot interaction. The majority of the soft manipulator with fluidic actuators consists of joints that are constructed by parallel actuators, achieving rotation and extension. The inability to output twisting and lateral translations concurrently in the joints hinders the applications of such soft manipulators that require dexterous manipulation. In this work, the Tilted Actuator Soft Robotic (TASR) joint with 6-DOF mobility, i.e., 3 rotations and 3 translations, is studied by kinematic modelling, simulations and experiments. The 6-DOF joint has a light weight (74.8g) due to the implementation of soft origami actuators (SOA) and soft-rigid structure. The investigation on the characteristics of the 4-joint assembly recorded maximum in-plane translations over a 70mm range (70% of its diameter), axial translation over 50mm (27% of its length), and rotations over 120° in all three directions. Kinematic modelling and FEM simulations have been carried out on the mechanical behaviors of the joint. A soft manipulator has been produced to verify the practicality of the joint in constructing soft robotic systems, with the repetitive accuracy and movements demonstrated in an application scenario. The 6-DOF TASR joint showed the potential to be implemented in constructing dexterous and light weight soft robotic systems, with mass-production readiness.
