3. Catalytic hydroconversion of oxydibenzene to cyclohexane over bifunctional Ni/Hβ.

Abstract

An active bifunctional Ni/Hβ was prepared by decomposing Ni(CO)4 to dispersive metallic Ni onto Hβ and applied in hydroconversion of oxydibenzene (ODB), which was used as a model reaction for the catalytic hydroconversion (CHC) of lignin or lignin oligomers to hydrocarbon fuels. The effects of reaction temperature, initial H2 pressure (IHP), and reaction time on the CHC of ODB was studied. Ni/Hβ was found to be effective for converting ODB into cyclohexane at 200°C under higher IHP. The mechanism for the CHC of ODB was discussed and the difference in mechanism under lower and higher IHP can be ascribed to the hydrogen-accepting abilities of unsaturated hydrocarbon products. Abstract

Hollow zeolite structures including sodalite spheres and hollow zeolite NaA crystals were synthesized by introducing crosslinked polyacrylamide (C-PAM) hydrogels into zeolite synthesis gels. The synthesis gels with weight compositions of 0.8SiO2 : 1.0Al2O3 : 21.2Na2O : 86.0H2O : 7.4–28.7 acrylamide (AM) were used to produce hollow sodalite spheres. The synthesized hollow sodalite spheres had diameters of 1–5 μm and shell thicknesses of 0.5–1 μm, and the sphere diameters decreased from 5–10 μm to 1–3 μm as the amount of C-PAM increased. Hollow zeolite A crystals with sizes of 300–500 nm were grown from the synthesis gel with a weight ratio of 0.8SiO2 : 1.0Al2O3 : 2.6Na2O : 16.4H2O : 2.6–3.8AM. The experimental results suggest that the formation of hollow zeolite structures may involve a surface-to-core crystallization process induced by crosslinked polyacrylamide networks.

Abstract

Hydrodenitrogenation (HDN) of isoquinoline (IQ) over Ni and Pd/C were investigated at 200 and 300°C under pressurized hydrogen. The results show that Ni is less active at 200°C but more active at 300°C than Pd/C for HDN of IQ. Raising reaction temperature from 200 to 300°C significantly increased nitrogen removal selectivity. π-Electrondensity of pyridine ring and cleavage of C–N bond were investigated and found to play important roles in HDN of IQ. Abstract

Shenfu subbituminous coal (SFSBC) and pretreated SFSBC with H2O2were subjected to oxidation with NaOCl at 30°C for 5 h. The results show that the pretreatment with H2O2significantly increased the yields of water-soluble species (WSS), especially benzene carboxylic acids (BCA) and long-chain alkanedioic acids (LCADA), but substantially inhibited the formation of chloro-substituted alkanoic acids. The introduction of oxygen functional groups to SFSBC by the pretreatment (LCADA) could be responsible for the increase in the yields of WSS, especially BCA and LCADA. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

Abstract

A high-temperature coal tar was sequentially extracted in a batch extraction system with petroleum ether, methanol, acetone, carbon disulfide, and isometric acetone/carbon disulfide mixed solvent to afford extracts 1 to 5 (E1 to E5). All the extracts were analyzed with gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. As the heaviest extract, E5 mainly consists of condensed arenes with five or more rings according to gas chromatography/mass spectrometry analysis. Lighter components were removed from E5 by ultrasonic extraction with petroleum ether and subsequent rotary distillation in a vacuum up to 300°C. The lighter components-free E5 proved to be a high quality coal-tar pitch by analysis with an XP-203E hot stage polarizing microscope. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

Abstract

A series of CoxMn0.06/SiO2 catalysts, which were used for the synthesis of light hydrocarbons from CO hydrogenation, were prepared. The effects of reaction temperature, the morphological and structural properties of the catalysts on the CO conversion and product selectivity were examined. The results show that both CO conversion and C2 to C4 hydrocarbon selectivity are significantly affected by the amount of Co loaded onto the catalysts. The optimum Co content was determined to be 10 wt% (i.e., for Co0.10Mn0.06/SiO2) catalyst, and corresponding CO conversion and the selectivity to C2 to C4 hydrocarbons are 95.3 and 80.6%, respectively, at 400°C. Abstract

Bio-oil prepared from flash pyrolysis of rice stalk around 500°C was upgraded by filtration and catalytic esterification. Both raw and upgraded bio-oils were observed with an optical microscope. The upgraded bio-oil was extracted with benzene, carbon disulfide, hexane, and carbon tetrachloride, respectively, and the soluble fractions were analyzed with FTIR and GC/MS. In addition, ion trap mass spectrometer was used for analysis of the benzene-soluble fraction. The results show that the upgrading substantially improved the dispersity of organic droplets in the bio-oil and completely removed char particles from the bio-oil, but heavy species are still the main components in the upgraded bio-oil; the soluble fractions contain aliphatic, benzene-ring-containing, ester, and bonded hydroxyl moieties, and methoxy-containing species are the most abundant GC/MS-detectable compounds. Abstract

A Mo-based catalyst (catalyst I) was prepared under microwave irradiation, and characterized with X-ray diffractometer, X-ray fluorescence spectrometry, nitrogen adsorption, Fourier transform infrared spectrometer, and scanning electron microscope. The activity of catalyst I for CO hydrogenation was studied in comparison with another Mo-based catalyst (catalyst II) prepared by conventional heating methods. The results show that CO conversion reached a maximum with temperatures up to 240°C over either of the catalysts. However, CO conversion and selectivities of methanol and dimethyl ether over catalyst I were higher than those over catalyst II, indicating that microwave irradiation favors the preparation of Mo-based catalyst for CO hydrogenation catalyst.
