Abstract This study aims to broaden the morphological scope of SDH-deficient renal cell carcinoma and to assist clinicians and pathologists in better understanding this entity to prevent misdiagnosis. This study used immunohistochemistry staining and the first-generation sequencing Sanger method for gene detection. It retrospectively analysed the clinical pathology, molecular characteristics, biological behaviour, and treatment information of one case of SDH-deficient renal cell carcinoma. The patient was a 57-year-old female with right back pain for more than 20 days and had no personal or family history of kidney tumours. In addition, the tumour cells had clear boundaries in morphology, and residual normal renal tubules could be seen around them. There were also ossification and adipose tissue around the tumour centre. The tumour cells were arranged in a glandular tubular and cord-like manner. Vacuolar and eosinophilic inclusion bodies could be observed in the cytoplasm. The nucleus was regular, the chromatin distribution was fine, and there were no obvious nucleoli. They were low-grade nuclei. In addition, no atypical mitosis or necrosis could been found. Furthermore, immunohistochemistry staining showed SDHB-negative and keratin 20 -positive tumour. Meanwhile, the first-generation sequencing also pointed out the presence of SDHB gene mutations in the tumour. After 12 months of follow-up, there was no evidence of disease recurrence in the patient. SDH-deficient renal cell carcinoma is a rare tumour associated with SDH gene germline mutations, and suspected cases should undergo SDHB immunohistochemistry staining. Most SDH-deficient renal cell carcinomas have a good prognosis, but undifferentiated cases require long-term follow-up.

A large amount of high salinity wastewater rich in dyes is produced in the printing and dyeing industry. Benefiting from the selective separating property，hollow fiber nanofiltration（NF） membranes are expected to achieve the efficient separation of dyes and inorganic salts，which can complete the pollution control of printing and dyeing wastewater as well as the synchronous recovery of valuable resources. Compared to the conventional spiral-wound NF membrane，hollow fiber NF membrane also presents advantages including high packing density and self-supporting ability. Therefore，it has received increasing attention in the field of printing and dyeing wastewater treatment. The recent research progress of hollow fiber NF technology in the dye separation process were reviewed. Specifically，the preparation of loose hollow fiber NF membrane and positively charged hollow fiber NF membrane suitable for dye separation were discussed. The membrane fouling characteristics of hollow fiber nanofiltration membrane in dye separation process and the corresponding membrane fouling control measures were analyzed. Finally，the future research directions were prospected to further promote the application of hollow fiber nanofiltration membrane technology in dye wastewater treatment.

Abstract Lightweight deep learning models for face recognition are becoming increasingly crucial for deployment on resource‐constrained devices such as embedded systems or mobile devices. This paper presents a highly efficient and compact deep learning (DL) model that achieves state‐of‐the‐art performance on various face recognition benchmarks. The developed DL model employs one‐ or few‐shot learning to obtain effective feature embeddings and draws inspiration from FaceNet with significant refinements to achieve a memory size of only 3.5 MB—about 30 times smaller than FaceNet—while maintaining high accuracy and real‐time performance. The study demonstrates the model's effectiveness through extensive experiments, which include testing on public datasets and the model's ability to recognize occluded faces in uncontrolled environments using grayscale input images. Compared to the state‐of‐the‐art lightweight models, the proposed model requires fewer FLOPs (0.06G), has a smaller number of parameters (1.2 M), and occupies a smaller model size (3.5 MB) while achieving a competitive level of recognition accuracy and real‐time performance. The results show that the model is well‐suited for deployment in embedded domains, including live entrance security checks, driver authorization, and in‐class attendance systems. Abstract Background Cardiac rehabilitation reduces mortality and morbidity rate of patients with coronary artery diseases (CAD); however, acute exercise stimulation may also increase the thrombotic risk through platelet activation. Studies on the effects of cardiac rehabilitation on platelet function have been sparse. Methods A total of 28 patients (24 men and 4 women; average age = 54.6 ± 8 years old) with stable CAD were enrolled in this study and divided into Aspirin-treated (n = 11; Aspirin group) and dual-antiplatelet-treated group (DAPT group; n = 17). Symptom-limited cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) with a cycle ergometer was performed on all the patients. Before and after CPET, platelet function was evaluated using light transmission aggregometry and whole blood flow cytometry. Results All patients completed the CPET without provoked cardiac events, and the mean value of peak oxygen uptake (Peak Vo2) was 19.3 ± 3 ml/(kg min). To assess the effectiveness of acupuncture, exercise rehabilitation, and their combination in treating knee osteoarthritis (KOA). Methods: This randomized controlled trial was done on patients with KOA, who were randomly allocated to three groups: acupuncture (AP), exercise rehabilitation (ER), or a combination of acupuncture and exercise rehabilitation (AE). The study lasted 12 weeks with 4 weeks of treatment and 8 weeks of follow-up. The primary outcome was the response rate, which was determined by the percentage of participants who experienced a significant improvement in pain and function by the fourth week. The primary analysis utilized a Z test for proportions in the modified intent-to-treat population, consisting of all randomized participants with at least one post-baseline measurement. Results: Out of the 120 patients initially enrolled in the study, 110 completed the trial and were included in the intention-to-treat analysis. Response rates at week 4 were 65.7% (23 out of 35), 58.3% (21 out of 36), and 83.3% (32 out of 39) in the AP, ER, and AE groups, respectively. The response rate in the AE group was found to be significantly higher than that in the ER group at week 4. No significant differences were observed in the overall response rates between the AP and ER groups, as well as between the AP and AE groups. Conclusion: Our research indicates that both acupuncture and exercise rehabilitation can effectively enhance pain relief, functional improvement, and joint mobility in individuals aged 45 to 70 with moderate to severe chronic KOA. Furthermore, the AE group demonstrated the highest response rate. These beneficial outcomes were sustained for a minimum of 8 weeks post-treatment. The combination of acupuncture and exercise rehabilitation appears to enhance the overall therapeutic efficacy for KOA patients, suggesting a synergistic effect that may be particularly advantageous for those with moderate to severe symptoms. BACKGROUND: Tailored design of high‐performance nanofiltration membranes is desirable. The physicochemical properties of the organic phaseare essential for the preparation of nanofiltration membranes. Therefore, byfine‐tuning the organic phase, it is possible to achieve nanofiltrationmembranes with enhanced performance. RESULTS: In this work, oleic acid, a naturally extracted fatty acid, wasintroduced into three different organic solvents (n‐heptane, n‐octane andisopar G) to construct special oil phases for interfacial polymerization. Testingresults showed that proper dosage of oleic acid addition can effectivelydecrease the nanofiltration membrane pore size and enhance the salt rejectionregardless of the solvent type. Taking n‐octane as example, 5% oleic acidaddition in it can decrease the mean pore size from 0.500 nm to 0.341 nm and improve the MgSO4 rejection from 52.4% to 95.5%. Further characterizationindicated that the introduction of oleic acid into organic solvent cansignificantly reduce the interfacial tension and promote the diffusion of piperazinefrom aqueous phase to the oil phase. In addition, oleic acid could react with piperazineand produce some white particles that could be embed into the polyamide layer, thus altering the surface morphology. CONCLUSION: In this work, a novel modified thin film composite nanofiltration membrane was prepared by a simple and controllable oleic acid assisted interfacial polymerization strategy, which exhibits good water permeability, solute selectivity and antifouling property. Without changing the existing process, our strategy opens up a simple, environmentally friendly and operable route for the synthesis of thin film composite nanofiltration membranes. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry (SCI). Non-methane volatile organic compounds are the primary culprit of regional ozone and photochemical pollution. To explore the relationship between non-methane volatile organic compounds and world economies, this study tracked the emission from production sources to final consumption sinks embodied in global supply chain in the framework of system input-output analysis model. The feedback from society to economic system is also covered. The emission embodied in global trade amounts to 58% of global total direct emission, .moreover, it is revealed that global NMVOCs transfer in intermediate trade is in magnitude more than double that in final trade. And around 34% global emission footprint feedback from society back to the economic system via primary inputs. Regional results reveal that the bulk of the world population, which is mainly in underdeveloped regions, has both a lower footprint per capita and footprint intensity compared with the global average level, respectively. Results show that regions including China and the United States have huge emission transfer imbalance in both intermediate trade and final trade. Considering the scale of emission imbalance, China, the United States and Europe are selected as representative cases for analysis. The reasons behind their imbalance are majorly attributed to two points: 1) Currency status; 2) Industrial transferring effect. Finally, this research suggests that economically developed regions should undertake more emission reduction responsibilities by furtherly investing in emission reduction technologies innovation, regulation policy promotion and public awareness-raising globally.

The nitrogen doping (N‐doping) treatment for niobium superconducting radio‐frequency (SRF) cavities is one of the key enabling technologies that support the development of more efficient future large accelerators. However, the N‐doping results have diverged due to a complex chemical profile under the nitrogen‐doped surface. Particularly, under industrial‐scale production conditions, it is difficult to understand the underlying mechanism thus hindering performance improvement. Herein, a combination of spatially resolved and surface‐sensitive approaches is employed to establish the detailed near‐surface phase composition of thermally processed niobium. The results show that intermediate phase segregations, particularly the nanometric carbon‐rich phase, can impede the nitridation process and limit the interactions between nitrogen and the niobium sub‐surface. In comparison, the removal of the carbon‐rich layer at the Nb surface leads to enhanced nitrogen binding at the Nb surface. Combining the RF test results, it is shown that the complex uniformity and grain boundary penetrations of impurity elements have a direct correlation with the mid‐field quench behavior in the N‐doped Nb cavities. Therefore, proper control of the nanometric intermediate phase formation in discrete thermal steps is critical in improving the ultimate performance and production yield of the Nb cavities. Background: Fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) is a key hormone factor that regulates glucose and lipid homeostasis. Exercise may regulate its effects and affect disease states. Therefore, we sought to determine how exercise affects FGF21 concentrations in adults. Methods: The review was registered in the International Prospective Systematic Review (PROSPERO, CRD42023471163). The Cochrane Library, PubMed, and Web of Science databases were searched for studies through July 2023. Studies that assessed the effects of exercise training on FGF21 concentration in adults were included. The random effect model, data with standardized mean difference (SMD), and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were used to evaluate the pooled effect size of exercise training on FGF21. The risk of heterogeneity and bias were evaluated. A total of 12 studies involving 401 participants were included. Results: The total effect size was 0.3 (95% CI [−0.3–0.89], p = 0.33) when comparing participants who exercised to those who were sedentary. However, subgroup analysis indicated that concurrent exercise and a duration ≥10 weeks significantly decreased FGF21 concentrations with an effect size of −0.38 (95% CI [−0.74–−0.01], p < 0.05) and −0.38 (95% CI [−0.63–−0.13], p < 0.01), respectively. Conclusion: Concurrent exercise and longer duration may be more efficient way to decrease FGF21 concentrations in adults with metabolic disorder. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Nb3Sn is emerging as one of the focal points in superconducting radio frequency (SRF) research, owing to its excellent superconducting properties. These properties hold significant possibilities for cost reduction and the miniaturization of accelerators. In this paper, we report the recent efforts of the Shanghai Advanced Research Institute (SARI) in fabricating high-performance Nb3Sn superconducting cavities using the vapor diffusion method. This includes the construction of a Nb3Sn coating system with dual evaporators and the test results of 1.3 GHz single-cell coated cavities. The coated samples were characterized, and the growth state of the Nb3Sn films was analyzed. The first coated superconducting cavity was tested at both 4.4 K and 2 K, with different cooldown rates passing through the Nb3Sn critical temperatures. The causes of Sn droplet spot defect formation on the surface of the first cavity were analyzed, and such defects were eliminated in the coating of the second cavity by controlling the evaporation rate. This study provides a reference for the preparation of high-performance Nb3Sn-coated cavities using the vapor diffusion method, including the setup of the coating system, the comprehension of the vapor diffusion process, and the test conditions. With the increasing emphasis on low-carbon energy development, reducing carbon emission in the energy production process has become a top priority. In recent years, low-carbon power generation technologies such as solar and wind power have made significant progress, gradually replacing traditional fossil-fuel-fired power generation methods. The large-scale integration of renewable energy into the grid has become mainstream, but the intermittent issues it poses to the power grid affect the stability of the power system. The rapid development of energy storage systems has become a bridge between renewable energy and the grid, providing flexibility and scheduling capabilities to the power system. In this study, we developed a communication platform based on the DNP3.0 communication protocol rules specified in Taiwan Power Company's Enhanced Dynamic Regulation Reserve Service (E-dReg). The platform realizes multiple protocol conversions including DNP3.0, Modbus TCP, OPC DA, and VPN. Additionally, to enhance overall reliability, a redundant station startup mechanism based on transmission control protocol/internet protocol connection detection is proposed. This mechanism makes decisions based on the status of the master station, enabling redundant stations to rapidly start, automatically take over the master station, or determine whether to return authority to the master station. The results demonstrate that the communication platform can facilitate communication between Taiwan Power Company and users, ensuring the high reliability of the communication platform operation.
