The paper gives the results of acoustic emission (AE) evaluation during pneumatic testing of pressure vessels in air distribution station at Odesa Portside Plant. It is shown that application of AE testing and respective equipment allowed evaluation of technical condition of the tested objects, as well as taking into account the special features of testing performance, in order to improve the methodological approaches to generation and processing of data of complex structure AE diagnostics. The East Asian westerly jet (EAJ), an important midlatitude circulation of the East Asian summer monsoon system, plays a crucial role in affecting summer rainfall over East Asia. The multimodel ensemble of current coupled models can generally capture the intensity and location of the climatological summer EAJ. However, individual models still exhibit large discrepancies. This study investigates the intermodel diversity in the longitudinal location of the simulated summer EAJ climatology in the present-day climate and its implications for rainfall over East Asia based on 20 CMIP5 models. The results show that the zonal location of the simulated EAJ core is located over either the midlatitude Asian continent or the western North Pacific (WNP) in different models. The zonal shift of the EAJ core depicts a major intermodel diversity of the simulated EAJ climatology. The westward retreat of the EAJ core is related to a warmer mid-upper tropospheric temperature in the midlatitudes, with a southwest-northeast tilt extending from Southwest Asia to Northeast Asia and the northern North Pacific, induced partially by the simulated stronger rainfall climatology over South Asia. The zonal shift of the EAJ core has some implications for the summer rainfall climatology, with stronger rainfall over the East Asian continent and weaker rainfall over the subtropical WNP in relation to the westward-located EAJ core. Purpose: To investigate the effect of reader experience and zonal location on the occurrence of false positives (FPs) in PIRADS (V2) 3, 4, and 5 lesions on multiparametric (MP)-MRI of the prostate.Materials and methods: This retrospective study included 139 patients who had consecutively undergone an MP-MRI of the prostate in combination with a transrectal ultrasound MRI fusion-guided biopsy between 2014 and 2017. MRI exams were prospectively read by a group of inexperienced radiologists (cohort 1; 54 patients) and an experienced radiologist (cohort 2; 85 patients). Multivariable logistic regression analysis was performed to determine the association of experience of the radiologist and zonal location with a FP reading. FP rates were compared between readings by inexperienced and experienced radiologists according to zonal location, using Chi-square (χ2) tests.Results: A total of 168 lesions in 139 patients were detected. Median patient age was 68 years (Interquartile range (IQR) 62.5-73), and median PSA was 10.9 ng/mL (IQR 7.6-15.9) for the entire patient cohort. According to multivariable logistic regression, inexperience of the radiologist was significantly (P = 0.044, odds ratio 1.927, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.017-3.651) and independently associated with a FP reading, while zonal location was not (P = 0.202, odds ratio 1.444, 95% CI 0.820-2.539). In the transition zone (TZ), the FP rate of the inexperienced radiologists 59% (17/29) was significantly higher (χ2P = 0.033) than that of the experienced radiologist 33% (13/40).Conclusion: Inexperience of the radiologist is significantly and independently associated with a FP reading, while zonal location is not. Objectives: Transition zone (TZ) carcinomas of the prostate are thought to have less malignant potential than tumours that arise in the peripheral zone (PZ). It is unclear, however, whether this can be put down to anatomical reasons alone, or if there are further differences between tumours of both zones.Methods: We examined Gleason scores, proliferation and apoptosis rates, microvessel density (MVD), p53 expression and bcl-2 expression in 76 paraffin-embedded radical prostatectomy specimens, containing 54 tumour foci in the TZ and 58 tumour foci in the PZ, matched for volume. The terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase mediated dUTP-biotin nick end labelling (TUNEL) method was applied to detect apoptotic cells. Proliferation, MVD, p53, and bcl-2 were investigated by immunohistochemistry.Results: There were significant differences between TZ tumours and PZ tumours in terms of the median Gleason scores (5 versus 7; P<0.0001), the proliferation rate (3.2% versus 5.2%; P=0.0003), and the MVD (68.5 versus 104; P=0.0002), but the median apoptosis rate was quite similar (0.8% versus 0.9%). The p53 and bcl-2 expression were more frequent in PZ cancers as compared to TZ carcinomas (11% versus 2% and 27% versus 6%, respectively).Conclusion: There is evidence for lower Gleason scores as well as lower expression of markers related to tumour growth in TZ carcinomas of the prostate, which might contribute to a less malignant clinical behaviour as compared to PZ cancers.
