Abstract: High-momentum two-particle correlations are a useful tool for studying jet-quenching effects in the quark-gluon plasma. Angular correlations between neutral-pion triggers and charged hadrons with transverse momenta in the range 4--12~GeV/$c$ and 0.5--7~GeV/$c$, respectively, have been measured by the PHENIX experiment in 2014 for Au$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$~GeV. Suppression is observed in the yield of high-momentum jet fragments opposite the trigger particle, which indicates jet suppression stemming from in-medium partonic energy loss, while enhancement is observed for low-momentum particles. The ratio and differences between the yield in Au$+$Au collisions and $p$$+$$p$ collisions, $I_{AA}$ and $\Delta_{AA}$, as a function of the trigger-hadron azimuthal separation, $\Delta\phi$, are measured for the first time at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. These results better quantify how the yield of low-$p_T$ associated hadrons is enhanced at wide angle, which is crucial for studying energy loss as well as medium-response effects., Comment: 535 authors from 84 institutions, 12 pages, 8 figures. v2 is version accepted for publication in Physical Review C. 6. Determination of Soil Erodibility by Different Methodologies in the Renato and Caiabi River Sub-Basins in Brazil

Abstract: Mitigating soil erosion‘s effects have been prioritized since the early 20th century. Rainfall simulators and analytical prediction models are used to determine soil erosion susceptibility. This study used different methodologies to measure soil erodibility in two hydrographic sub-basins, the Renato and Caiabi, in the Middle and Upper Teles Pires River in Mato Grosso state, Brazil. The rainfall simulator showed a higher range of K-factor values for the Renato sub-basin of 0.0009 to 0.0086 Mg × h × (MJ × mm)−1 and a lower range of K-factor values for the Caiabi sub-basin of 0.0014 to 0.0031 Mg × h × (MJ × mm)−1. Soil loss equations similarly estimated a higher range of K-factor values for the Renato of 0.0008 to 0.0990 Mg × h × (MJ × mm)−1 and a lower range of K-factor values for the Caiabi of 0.0014 to 0.0846 Mg × h × (MJ × mm)−1. There was no significant difference at the 5% level for the K factor determined by the rainfall simulator for both sub-basins. Equations specified in Bouyoucos (1935) and Lombardi Neto and Bertoni (1975) showed significant correlation (5%) for farming systems in the Caiabi sub-basin. Indirect methodologies that performed well for correlation were equations 2 and 3 from Roloff and Denardin (1994), which use iron and aluminum as parameters. Soil erosion was most influenced by physical texture parameters of the region’s soil.

Abstract: Desde 2011, tem havido um aumento na publicação de (auto)biografias de refugiadas sírias que abordam a jornada em busca de refúgio no Ocidente. Este artigo investiga o discurso neo-orientalista nas autobiografias “Nujeen” (2017), de Nujeen Mustafa e Christina Lamb, e “Borboleta: de refugiada a nadadora olímpica” (2022), de Yusra Mardini. O estudo busca compreender os efeitos de sentido dos enunciados neo-orientalistas nessas obras sobre a narrativa feminina do refúgio, que parte de uma Síria bélica em direção a uma Europa pacífica. O corpus consiste em trechos extraídos das (auto)biografias. A interpretação é fundamentada nas concepções foucaultianas de formação discursiva, enunciado, relações de poder, verdade e poder (Foucault, 2008, 2012). O referencial teórico conceitua o Orientalismo e o Neo-orientalismo, a fim de demonstrar como essas estruturas se relacionam com o corpus. Os resultados indicam que as obras analisadas contribuem para retratar o Oriente como bélico, enquanto o Ocidente é visto pacífico.

Abstract: The article presents the sociological study results on the preferred forms of medical students’ academic work in the era of digitalization. The study was carried out among students of the Volga Research Medical University using an online survey. The study purpose is to identify the attitude of various typological groups of medical students to various forms and methods of scientific and methodological support of the educational process, including the use of digital technologies. The work showed that behind the variety of medical students’ attitudes on the effectiveness of different forms of education, there is a willingness of young people to move away from traditional methods of obtaining professional knowledge and skills, and they clearly have a complex request for new forms of teaching, including using the Internet and electronic resources. The assessment of various forms and teaching methods has noticeable differences depending on the affiliation of students to various faculties. The article analyzes the students’ assessments of the various forms’ effectiveness of education using multidimensional data analysis, which made it possible to identify four types of student attitudes: 1) orientation to online learning; 2) live contact with the teacher; 3) electronic library; 4) work with summaries of educational materials. Abstract: We give a sufficient condition for Kripke completeness of modal logics enriched with the transitive closure modality. More precisely, we show that if a logic admits what we call definable filtration (ADF), then such an expansion of the logic is complete; in addition, has the finite model property, and again ADF. This argument can be iterated, and as an application we obtain the finite model property for PDL-like expansions of logics that ADF.

Abstract: We present direct photon-hadron correlations in 200 GeV/A Au$+$Au, $d$$+$Au and $p$$+$$p$ collisions, for direct photon $p_T$ from 5--12 GeV/$c$, collected by the PHENIX Collaboration in the years from 2006 to 2011. We observe no significant modification of jet fragmentation in $d$$+$Au collisions, indicating that cold nuclear matter effects are small or absent. Hadrons carrying a large fraction of the quark's momentum are suppressed in Au$+$Au compared to $p$$+$$p$ and $d$$+$Au. As the momentum fraction decreases, the yield of hadrons in Au$+$Au increases to an excess over the yield in $p$$+$$p$ collisions. The excess is at large angles and at low hadron $p_T$ and is most pronounced for hadrons associated with lower momentum direct photons. Abstract: ABSTRACT: The present study evaluated the effect of increasing levels of wet brewery residue (WBR) as a source of roughage on nutrient intake, performance and ingestive behaviour in lambs finished in confinement. Thirty-two uncastrated male lambs were used, weaned at 50 days of age. The treatments comprised increasing levels of WBR as roughage in the diet: 31, 44, 57 and 70%, on a dry-matter. The concentrate consisted of disintegrated corn, soybean meal, calcitic limestone and mineral salt. There was a quadratic effect (P ≤ 0.05) from the increasing levels of WBR on the intake of DM, OM, CP and TCH. The intake of EE, NDF and ADF increased linearly (P ≤ 0.01), while TDN intake showed a linear reduction (P < .0001) for increases in the level of WBR. There was a quadratic effect (P ≤ 0.010) on the average daily weight gain (ADG) from the addition of WBR to the diet. The time spent on feeding and rumination (P ≤ 0.05), expressed in minutes, showed a linear increase. Feeding rate for DM showed decreasing linear behaviour (P ≤ 0.006), while NDF rumination rate showed increasing linear behaviour (P ≤ 0.013) due to the increased levels of WBR in the diet. There was a linear increase in the time spent on each feeding activity (P ≤ 0.007) with the increase in WBR in the diet. Maximum weight gain is achieved when 46.9% WBR is used as a source of roughage in the diet, and this level can be recommended for terminating lambs in confinement.

The aim of this study is to understand the prognosis for pwCF on OT, evaluating how the transition probabilities from being alive without lung transplantation (LTx) to LTx and to death, and from being alive after LTx to death change in pwCF with and without OT.Methods: We used 2008– 2017 data from the 35-country European CF Society Patient Registry. A multi-state model was fitted to assess the effects of individual risk factors on transition probabilities.Results: We considered 48,343 pwCF aged from 6 to 50 years. OT (HR 5.78, 95% CI: 5.32– 6.29) and abnormal FEV1 (HR 6.41, 95% CI: 5.28– 7.79) were strongly associated with the probability of having LTx; chronic infection with Burkholderia cepacia complex (HR 3.19, 95% CI: 2.78– 3.67), abnormal FEV1 (HR 5.00, 95% CI: 4.11– 6.08) and the need for OT (HR 4.32, 95% CI: 3.93– 4.76) showed the greatest association with the probability of dying without LTx. Once pwCF received LTx, OT (HR 1.75, 95% CI: 1.41– 2.16) and abnormal FEV1 (HR 1.63, 95% CI: 1.18– 2.25) were the main factors associated with the probability of dying. An association of gross national income with the probability of receiving LTx and with the probability of dying without LTx was also found.Conclusion: Oxygen therapy is associated with poor survival in pwCF with and without LTx; harmonization of CF care throughout European countries and minimization of the onset of pulmonary gas exchange abnormalities using all available means remains of paramount importance.Keywords: cystic fibrosis, oxygen therapy, epidemiology, mortality, lung transplantation

Abstract: Local actions of stressors induce electrical signals (ESs), influencing photosynthetic processes and probably increasing tolerance to adverse factors in higher plants. However, the participation of well-known depolarization ESs (action potentials and variation potentials) in these responses seems to be rare under natural conditions, particularly in the case of variation potentials, which are induced by extreme stressors (e.g., burning). Earlier, we showed that the local action of moderate heating and illumination can induce low-amplitude hyperpolarization ESs influencing photosynthetic light reactions in wheat plants cultivated in a vegetation room. In the current work, we analyzed ESs and changes in photosynthetic light reactions and drought tolerance that were induced by a combination of moderate heating and illumination in wheat plants cultivated under open-ground conditions. It was shown that the local heating and illumination induced low-amplitude ESs, and the type of signal (depolarization or hyperpolarization) was dependent on distance from the irritated zone and wheat age. Induction of depolarization ESs was not accompanied by photosynthetic changes in plants under favorable conditions or under weak drought. In contrast, the changes were observed after induction of these signals under moderate drought. Increasing drought tolerance was also observed in the last case. Thus, low-amplitude ESs can participate in photosynthetic regulation and increase tolerance to drought in plants cultivated under open-ground conditions.

Abstract: Approaches for remote sensing can be used to estimate the influence of changes in environmental conditions on terrestrial plants, providing timely protection of their growth, development, and productivity. Different optical methods, including the informative multispectral and hyperspectral imaging of reflected light, can be used for plant remote sensing; however, multispectral and hyperspectral cameras are technically complex and have a high cost. RGB imaging based on the analysis of color images of plants is definitely simpler and more accessible, but using this tool for remote sensing plant characteristics under changeable environmental conditions requires the development of methods to increase its informativity. Our review focused on using RGB imaging for remote sensing the characteristics of terrestrial plants. In this review, we considered different color models, methods of exclusion of background in color images of plant canopies, and various color indices and their relations to characteristics of plants, using regression models, texture analysis, and machine learning for the estimation of these characteristics based on color images, and some approaches to provide transformation of simple color images to hyperspectral and multispectral images. As a whole, our review shows that RGB imaging can be an effective tool for estimating plant characteristics; however, further development of methods to analyze color images of plants is necessary.

Abstract: The objective: to trace changes in endotoxicosis in the brain during the postresuscitation period.Subjects and Methods. Clinical death was modeled on rats by 6.5-minute asphyxia and resuscitation.The animals were divided into groups corresponding to the timing of brain sampling (from 30 minutes to 21 days) after resuscitation. The content of low and median molecular weight substances (LMMWS) was determined in perchloric acid extracts of the brain.Results. It was found that 30 minutes after resuscitation the content of LMMWS in the brain of rats increases statistically significantly compared to the "control" group, and after 90 minutes returns to the control level. Then, 6 hours – 21 days after resuscitation a paradoxical decrease in the content of LMMWS below the control level occurs.Conclusion. The decrease in the level of endotoxicosis after asphyxia and resuscitation explains not by their “healing” effect, but by the death of rats with the highest LMMWS values, which leads to a decrease in the average LMMWS value in groups of resuscitated animals.

Abstract: The PHENIX collaboration presents first measurements of low-momentum ($0.4$1\,GeV/$c$) direct-photon yield $dN_{\gamma}^{\rm dir}/d\eta$ is a smooth function of $dN_{\rm ch}/d\eta$ and can be well described as proportional to $(dN_{\rm ch}/d\eta)^\alpha$ with $\alpha{\approx}1.25$. This scaling behavior holds for a wide range of beam energies at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider and the Large Hadron Collider, for centrality selected samples, as well as for different, $A$$+$$A$ collision systems. At a given beam energy the scaling also holds for high $p_T$ ($>5$\,GeV/$c$) but when results from different collision energies are compared, an additional $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}$-dependent multiplicative factor is needed to describe the integrated-direct-photon yield., Comment: 673 authors from 82 institutions, 10 pages, 4 figures. v2 is version accepted for publication in Physical Review Letters. Abstract: We have measured direct photons for $p_T<5~$GeV/$c$ in minimum bias and 0\%--40\% most central events at midrapidity for Cu$+$Cu collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV. The $e^{+}e^{-}$ contribution from quasi-real direct virtual photons has been determined as an excess over the known hadronic contributions in the $e^{+}e^{-}$ mass distribution. A clear enhancement of photons over the binary scaled $p$$+$$p$ fit is observed for $p_T<4$ GeV/$c$ in Cu$+$Cu data. The $p_T$ spectra are consistent with the Au$+$Au data covering a similar number of participants. The inverse slopes of the exponential fits to the excess after subtraction of the $p$$+$$p$ baseline are 285$\pm$53(stat)$\pm$57(syst)~MeV/$c$ and 333$\pm$72(stat)$\pm$45(syst)~MeV/$c$ for minimum bias and 0\%--40\% most central events, respectively. 45. Comparing anterior gastropexy to no anterior gastropexy for paraesophageal hernia repair: a study protocol for a randomized control trial

Abstract: Abstract Background More than half of patients undergoing paraesophageal hernia repair (PEHR) will have radiographic hernia recurrence at 5 years after surgery. Gastropexy is a relatively low-risk intervention that may decrease recurrence rates, but it has not been studied in a prospective manner. Our study aims to evaluate the effect of anterior gastropexy on recurrence rates after PEHR, compared to no anterior gastropexy. Methods This is a two-armed, single-blinded, registry-based, randomized controlled trial comparing anterior gastropexy to no anterior gastropexy in PEHR. Adult patients (≥18 years) with a symptomatic paraesophageal hernia measuring at least 5 cm in height on computed tomography, upper gastrointestinal series, or endoscopy undergoing elective minimally invasive repair are eligible for recruitment. Patients will be blinded to their arm of the trial. All patients will undergo laparoscopic or robotic PEHR, where some operative techniques (crural closure techniques and fundoplication use or avoidance) are left to the discretion of the operating surgeon. During the operation, after closure of the diaphragmatic crura, participants are randomized to receive either no anterior gastropexy (control arm) or anterior gastropexy (treatment arm). Two hundred forty participants will be recruited and followed for 1 year after surgery. The primary outcome is radiographic PEH recurrence at 1 year. Secondary outcomes are symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease, dysphagia, odynophagia, gas bloat, regurgitation, chest pain, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, postprandial pain, cardiovascular, and pulmonary symptoms as well as patient satisfaction in the immediate postoperative period and at 1-year follow-up. Outcome assessors will be blinded to the patients’ intervention. Discussion This randomized controlled trial will examine the effect of anterior gastropexy on radiographic PEH recurrence and patient-reported outcomes. Anterior gastropexy has a theoretical benefit of decreasing PEH recurrence; however, this has not been proven beyond a suggestion of effectiveness in retrospective series. If anterior gastropexy reduces recurrence rates, it would likely become a routine component of surgical PEH management. If it does not reduce PEH recurrence, it will likely be abandoned. Abstract: The purpose of the research was to study the dynamics of residual infectious activity of SARS-CoV-2 virus strains belonging to different genovariants, on different types of surfaces, in samples of drinking dechlorinated water at 24–28 °C, as well as their resistance to disinfectants.Materials and methods. The studies were carried out using SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus strains obtained from the State Collection of Causative Agents of Viral Infectious Diseases and Rickettsiosis, which operates at the premises of the SSC VB “Vector”. The evaluation of the residual infectivity of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus was carried out through titration of samples in cell culture.Results and discussion. The conducted studies have confirmed the ability of all investigated strains of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus to maintain their infectious activity at 24–28 °C on most of the examined types of test surfaces for at least 48 hours, while the virus is best preserved on stainless steel and plastic. All studied strains of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus are viable in drinking dechlorinated water for at least 48 hours. In addition, it has been found that all of them are sensitive to disinfectants of different groups, widely used for disinfection when working with pathogenic biological agents or for treating hands and surfaces contaminated with viruses. Chlorine-containing disinfectants are the most active. Skin antiseptics based on ethyl and isopropyl alcohols are suitable for disinfecting hands and objects contaminated with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

47. Hyperpolarization electrical signals induced by local action of moderate heating influence photosynthetic light reactions in wheat plants

Abstract: Local action of stressors induces fast changes in physiological processes in intact parts of plants including photosynthetic inactivation. This response is mediated by generation and propagation of depolarization electrical signals (action potentials and variation potentials) and participates in increasing plant tolerance to action of adverse factors. Earlier, we showed that a local action of physiological stimuli (moderate heating and blue light), which can be observed under environmental conditions, induces hyperpolarization electrical signals (system potentials) in wheat plants. It potentially means that these signals can play a key role in induction of fast physiological changes under the local action of environmental stressors. The current work was devoted to investigation of influence of hyperpolarization electrical signals induced by the local action of the moderate heating and blue light on parameters of photosynthetic light reactions. A quantum yield of photosystem II (ФPSII) and a non-photochemical quenching of chlorophyll fluorescence (NPQ) in wheat plants were investigated. It was shown that combination of the moderate heating (40°C) and blue light (540 µmol m-2s-1) decreased ФPSII and increased NPQ; these changes were observed in 3-5 cm from border of the irritated zone and dependent on intensity of actinic light. The moderate soil drought (7 days) increased magnitude of photosynthetic changes and shifted their localization which were observed on 5-7 cm from the irritated zone; in contrast, the strong soil drought (14 days) suppressed these changes. The local moderate heating decreased ФPSII and increased NPQ without action of the blue light; in contrast, the local blue light action without heating weakly influenced these parameters. It meant that just local heating was mechanism of induction of the photosynthetic changes. Finally, propagation of hyperpolarization electrical signals (system potentials) was necessary for decreasing ФPSII and increasing NPQ. Thus, our results show that hyperpolarization electrical signals induced by the local action of the moderate heating inactivates photosynthetic light reactions; this response is similar with photosynthetic changes induced by depolarization electrical signals. The soil drought and actinic light intensity can influence parameters of these photosynthetic changes.

Abstract: THE PURPOSE. To consider the problems of protecting equipment of thermal power plants and heat supply systems from internal corrosion. To study the stages of development of domestic deaeration devices and the principles of atmospheric and vacuum deaeration in the framework of the boiler house in Ulyanovsk. To analyze the operation and maintenance of deaerators: DSA-75, AWACS and DV-75 in the boiler house of JSC «Ulyanovsk Cartridge Plant», and in the UMUP «City Heating System».METHODS. When solving this problem, we used an analytical method for evaluating the operation of the DSA-75 atmospheric deaerator and the DV-75 vacuum deaerator.RESULTS. The article presents the main technical characteristics of the atmospheric deaerator DSA-75 and the vacuum deaerator DV-75, and graphical dependencies characterizing the operation of the above deaerators were obtained.CONCLUSION. An analysis of the work of the «AWACS» deaerator showed that this device was never able to take its rightful place as the main and additional deaeration device in the boiler house in Ulyanovsk. Accordingly, the «AWACS» deaerator could not stand on a par with the long-established deaerators developed at CKTI. The authors found that at the present time, at the UMUP «City Heating System» boiler house considered in this article, the water treatment system using the traditional DV-75 vacuum deaerator is well debugged and performs its functions. Thus, high-quality water treatment is ensured in the boiler house.
